Saturday at 4:00 AM. Shibuya was midway through its night, explaining why pretty much every Japanese citizen was either sleeping or partying. Gazing at the skyline was enough to know whether the most requested product was either entertainment or the opposite. In any case...
This night wasn't quite ordinary for the residents of a certain apartment in Society Hill. For them, the night meant an ordeal of the likes they had never witnessed; it meant a change that threatened to crumble the very ego of one peculiar young woman. From: AmyST. To: AsherCC, Cocoa, Curls, Kermit, Mint, Ruski Broski. Subject: Emergency!!
This is Amy's roommate. I know the time is awkward, but there's this... swirling vortex inside Amy's room and she's kinda unconscious and I don't what to do. You were atop their contact list and I think this is some kind of Digital thing so... please help? I don't know if I should go into that thing. This is just weird.
If something happens or if I don't answer the doorbell, I left a spare set of keys under the flowerpot at the left of the entrance. The message had done a good job at being as disorganized as it could be, but that was probably justifiable, given the situation at hand. For the people who knew Ooi, the girl being this distressed wasn't exactly a common event, yet... just like she had said, the timing couldn't be more awkward. Who would answer to that call, if anyone?

See, any self-respecting Japanese person would be asleep or partying at 4 am in the morning. Akemi Amaya, of course, was about to be neither of these, even if she had opted to go to sleep after a long night of Akemi-related things that nobody really had any time or desire to know about, considering they were regarding recent events.
Of course, a slight adjustment would have to be made when a rather frantic message from Amy's Tamernet came in quite suddenly, stating something regarding a vortex and an unconscious frenchwoman. So, it only took a few minutes for (a slightly grumpy) Akemi to get dressed, wake Anzu, and SNEAK OUT of her house to get going over to Society Hill.
She remembered the directions to the apartment at least, and managed to make her way to the door before she knocked on it. Would there be an answer? Or would others show up?

After spending a bit more time than anticipated in the Digital world for the evening, Asher and Whiskers had finally made it home to relax. While most lights were out, the kitchen's remained well-lit, while a certain Meicoomon sat upon a chair, and Asher was sifting through the fridge at the feline's request.
"Did you find the stuff for tuna sandwiches yet? I rawrly want--"
A small, yet very obnoxious, tune played from the terminal that sat on the table near the cat. "Ameowlie?" The cat chirped, pulling the d-terminal toward her. "Do mew think she's craving sammiches, too?"
While the cat clumsily pulled up the chat, Asher leaned out of the refrigerator, placing his hand on the door of it. "I think you're the only one wanting--" immediate topic change! "--Do you really think you should be going through our chats?"
"Yes," she stated, bluntly, while squinting at the screen. "'specially because we gotta go. Like, right meow."
As if that wasn't enough of a concern, Whiskers was already flipping the switch to turn on her holosuit, and bouncing out of her seat to get to the door. Closing the fridge -- and Whiskers hopes and dreams about tuna sandwiches -- Asher was quick to follow the cat outside, and off to the brunette's apartment, while being filled in along the way.
Once there? There was the painful ride on the elevator, and then... "Hey Akemi," the redhead stated, sounding surprisingly calm for how quickly he stepped around the girl, pulling a spare key from his pocket and pressing it into the lock. Who actually knocked in situations like this?
...Was Asher possibly an overprotective boyfriend?
Probably. But, nobody could really judge, since Amy was his equivalent. Or possibly worse!
"...How long have you been waiting out here?" While turning the key, Whiskers would give a small wave to both bean and tamer, without saying a word. She had no idea who these people were! And, it was kind of a bad time for introductions!
Either way, the door was quickly opened, taking care to make sure Ooi wasn't behind said door beforehand. After all, it would be really rude to hit a concerned girlfriend's roommate with a door. Once the door was opened, he'd announce, "hey, Ooi. We let ourselves in; hope you don't mind." Of course she wouldn't. She flat-out stated there was a key under the flower pot. If someone actually minded intrusions, it wouldn't have been mentioned.
Once he turned to check that Anzu and Akemi weren't going to just stand in the doorway, the teen would make his way toward Amy's bedroom. Were others going to show up? He wasn't really sure, but he also wasn't really willing to wait very long.

It seemed like the group wouldn't have to wait a lot, thanks to Asher being a worrier of the highest caliber. Then again, if this situation didn't merit him using the spare set of keys that had been entrusted to him, what would? At that moment, it seemed like only two people and two digimons had managed to show up; the guy himself, Akemi, Anzu, and Whiskers. And for the time being, it seemed like nobody else would answer Ooi's message. They'd have to make do with the people present.
What would they find inside? At a glance, everything inside the apartment looked perfectly normal, at least until the foursome began to approach the brunette's room; a faint whirring noise, commonly associated with open portals became evident as they advanced. And then?
For starters, the usually orderly room looked like an utter mess; clothes haphazardly placed everywhere, alongside the bedsheets that should be atop the mattress that should be atop her bed. It was almost as if a whirlwind had passed through the room, and that was if one managed to overlook the portal that had opened by the back of the room; unlike normal, digivice-opened portals, this one changed shapes and shrank or grew bigger at random intervals. To say that it looked unstable would probably be the understatement of the year, probably.
Lastly, by the opposite wall where the portal stood, there was an unconscious Amelie sitting against the wall while a very concerned Ooi did her best at looking after her. Understandably, both were currently dressed in simple pajamas, even though chances were that no one cared about modesty at the moment.
"Thank goodness you came." She said while heaving a sigh. "I have no idea what's happening! From one moment from the next, I heard a whirring sound from my room and the next thing I see is this... mess. I have no idea about what to do. Why is that thing here? I just want for it to go away and for things to go back to normal."
A strained, yet composed tone belied those frantic sentences; truth was that the dark-haired girl was at her wits' end, and that this very situation had already taking its toll on her. What would the group do? And while they were at it, would anyone notice that Amy's body seemed to be... smaller than usual? Maybe it was just the room's lightning, or maybe everyone was a little too tired and were imagining things. Lest to say, anyone who had spent a decent amount of time with her would notice that something was quite off, and that without having into account the fact that her own pajamas seemed to be fairly oversized, even despite their baggy nature.

Dead silence was promptly broken by Asher and...Someone else? "...Who the heck are you?" Anzu whispered, tilting her head at the sight of Whiskers. Akemi turned to the totally, definitely overprotective boyfriend and shrugged. "About a minute or two--I haven't been here for long."
The one with more initiative opened the door, and the duo followed him inside to be greeted with everything seeming quite normal, before they then got to Amy's room proper. What did they find there? A disheveled mess. After hearing Ooi out, and giving the room a once-over?
"...Hey, Amy's normally super tall, right? Why's she small?" Anzu once more inquired. Akemi, on the other hand, glanced to Asher. "Check on her, I...think I have a bad idea." That idea? Why...She was going to get close to that portal. "If I were a betting woman, we might have to actually go through this. ...Not that I'm betting on anything, of course." The girl uttered, quietly.

At the door, the black-haired girl paused to look at Anzu. There seemed to be a moment of contemplation, before providing a surprisingly cheerful smile. If they were here, surely both 'people' knew about Digimon. "I'm Whiskers!" Well, that answered that question! And, maybe raised a few. Except for with Akemi, who probably remembered that Asher mentioned having a Meicoomon, when they were walking at the beach. But, that was probably when Anzu was trying to defend Anzutopia, so it was understandable to not know about her!
Soon enough, though, they'd be in Amy's room. Even with the warning of vortexes in the message, it was really hard to comprehend until standing in the same room as it. Well. That was weird looking. Was it actually Digital, or something else entirely?
Asher was more focused on a different point of the room than the portal, understandably. And, really didn't waste any time past Akemi's suggestion to check on his girlfriend. Hurrying over to her and Ooi, the redhead reached down to lightly touch the brunette's face, and then examine her pajamas. Yeah, the were definitely too big. "That's really weird," he mumbled, before looking to Ooi. "Will you be alright watching her a little longer?" It wasn't like Ooi wasn't already doing that.
It was pretty obvious that Asher wasn't intending on just letting Akemi walk through mystery portals by herself! Granted, Anzu would probably go with her. But, Amy would probably be more upset if he sat with her, instead of making sure her friends were safe. Right? Maybe wrong. Amelie seemed to be a bit odd sometimes.
Whiskers stepped up to offer her help to Ooi, however. "I'll stay here, if mew want help. If that purrtal even goes anywhere."
For all they knew, it actually wouldn't let anyone or anything enter. Which, might be cause for more alarm. What if it was one-way? What if it was one-way, and leading into Amy's room? Best not to think about that possibility quite yet. Either way, Asher moved closer to Akemi, to make sure she didn't find herself in any trouble when she attempted to approach the portal.

Everyone had been quick to act; Akemi had gone straight towards the portal, while Asher had decided to check on his girlfriend first. What did he find out after touching her face and examining her clothing? For starters, that, besides the fact that she was hopelessly unconscious, she seemed fine. Her body temperature was neither too hot nor cold, and she didn't look like she was sweating at the moment. If one overlooked that she had gotten smaller, everything seemed to be in order.
Now, the question was... how much smaller she was? While gauging her height would be hard considering that she was in a sitting position, if one were to make a rough estimate, it could be said that she was at least four inches shorter than the usual. The reason? Nobody seemed to know.
Ooi nodded decisively at the redhead's request. "I have no idea about if I can do anything for her, but I'll try my best at keeping the situation under control. Not like that amounts to much considering I'm just a human, but..." her tone trailed off. She definitely didn't want to finish that sentence.
Instead, she smiled at Whiskers' offer, patting her head slightly before shifting her position a bit. Sitting against a wall wasn't exactly comfortable.
The two humans and the holosuited bean were approaching the portal now. What would happen once they got close enough? The three would feel a massive pull drawing them in; by all means and purposes, resisting it seemed utterly pointless. It was almost as if they were particles of offending dust being scooped by a vacuum cleaner.
Journeying inside had proven to be quite chaotic as well; bright colors, swirling forms, and a constant stream of babble that didn't make any sense, all uttered in Amy's typical excited voice. Not exactly a pleasant experience, but luckily, a short-lived one. Once reality settled back in, the three would see themselves in an exact replica of the room they had been moments ago, even if with some key differences. The most striking one was that it wasn't the mess than the previous room had been, and that neither the portal, Whiskers, Ooi, nor Amelie were there.
Or, maybe, she was. Asher would feel a hand tugging at his jeans. "Uh... Mister? Misses?" The group would have to stare down to identify the source of that childish voice, even though they would most likely be surprised by what they found. If they thought the previous Amelie seemed smaller than usual, what they would think about finding one that was notably younger as well? It wasn't hard to guess that this one was ten years old at most; and maybe even less than that. "Who are you?"
Regardless of the answer, she would then point at the door that was supposed to be the room's exit. It was closed shut; even if it differed from the original due to an inscription engraved on it. 'AMY'S MOST SPECIAL PLACE'.
"I can't reach the handle!" She announced while making a pouting face; at least that much was true. Her current height was nothing to write home about, and the doorknob seemed to be slightly higher in the door than usual. "Can you help me? Pretty please?"
Being suspicious in the face of this situation was absolutely normal, but there was anything they could do about that? If they had any ideas, now was the time.

Akemi was NOT about to ask why Asher knew a girl who unironically called herself Whiskers. It'd be a bit hypocritical considering they had a gangster nun who called herself Empress living under the Amayas' roof. Nonetheless, anything that could be done to keep Amy safe right now was all that she could ask for.
Now, onto the portal...?
...There wasn't anything that indicated it was going to suck everyone that approached it in, so it was...quite a surprise that that happened, and they were assaulted with a genuinely chaotic jumble of babble in Amy's voice. How troubling. Akemi glanced to the small Amy that needed aid with the handle once she had gotten her bearings, though Anzu was...a bit disoriented, herself.
Someone had to open that door, right...? "...We're friends." Akemi decided to respond with her best tool here--words. Asher would have to open that door, totally.

With Amy seeming stable, aside from her shrinking episode, Asher didn't seem to feel too badly about leaving her in the care of Ooi and Whiskers. Though, he may find Akemi's nun story a bit concerning if he were to ever hear about it!
Instead, Asher would have to be more concerned about being pulled into a portal full of excited chatter. While it was clear that it was the voice of his girlfriend, he still found the entire thing awkward to listen to. And then, the awkward moment of meeting tiny-Amy. Even tinier than the already shrunken one! Yellow eyes looked down, feeling someone tugging on him.
Were they on drugs? It felt like the most logical explanation, really.
"Yep, friends," he agreed with Akemi's statement, simply. But, they also needed to address the request of the child. For a moment, Asher glanced at Akemi and Anzu, in the case that they made any protest to the child's desire to go into the Most Special Place. This felt like some sort of strange trap. There was no real way to prove it without progressing, however. And, no way back, it seemed.
But, first? "Why do you want to go there?" Did they want to see what was on the other side of the door?

The mirrored room's ambiance was quite pleasant; it felt homey and soothing, just like Amy's own room. Despite the apparent absence of its owner, one could infer that this room was hers. A part of her, maybe? That was probably getting too philosophical, especially when discussing something that, in essence, was little more than a section of an apartment building.
Luckily, neither person would have to delve too deeply into the room's strange mysticism; the spotlight had been taken by the trio's interactions with little Amy. "Friends?" The girl's expression brightened at Akemi's words. She immediately turned in order to face her.
"I like friends!" That exclamation was undoubtedly chipper. "I don't think I have any friends. Would you be my friends?" While an otherwise depressing statement, that didn't stop the small brunette from feeling cheerful. This was quite the development, after all!
Similarly, her disposition seemed to drastically change once again when directly facing Asher. Pink cheeks would be glaringly obvious for a couple of seconds before her blue eyes finally averted contact with young man's yellows. Amelie's gaze seemed to be focused on an undetermined spot on the floor at the moment. "Mister is... very handsome."
Yup, she had just said it. A curious mind would probably wonder if this was a reflection of Amy's subconscious, her coalesced memories of when she was younger, or something else, even though the fact that the two had pretty much the same taste on guys seemed to be a constant! How would Asher take a compliment like that from a girl that was obviously underage? That'd be interesting to see.
Oh, right. The question at hand! Little Amy finally managed to calm down and speak again. "Why I wanna go there? I'm, uhh..." Rather than pink, her cheeks flared red this time. Not a second afterward, the girl's stomach growled intensely. "I'm hungry. Mom left some food in the kitchen, but I can't exit."
Was that a good enough reason? In any case, the small brunette managed to smile before adding. "Are you hungry as well? I could share my food with you if you want! That's what friends do."
Tempting offer? Maybe not, considering the inherent weirdness of the situation? It was hard to say.

Sincerely speaking, the place they had gotten drawn to was nothing short of odd. Odd in how it was an exact mirror of the true room and odd in how they got here. Akemi turned to face the smaller Amy and nodded. "Sure." A simple answer. Yet was it the proverbial correct one? Who knew.
Point was that not having friends...kind of sucked. It was something Akemi had gone through before, really. "Why can't you exit? Is it because the doorknob's too high?" Akemi asked, while Anzu glanced between Asher and the door to the most special place. "Not gonna lie, could've used some breakfast before coming here." The bean noted, making a note for when they got home.
Akemi's own attention went right to the door. "...Well, guess we gotta open that." There was no protests towards opening the gate to the special place, it appeared.

Well, at least tiny-Amy was very friendly! And... apparently very bashful with her 'eventual' boyfriend. Covering a snort with the gesture of covering his mouth and coughing, hopefully the child version of his girlfriend wouldn't realize that he was doing his best not to laugh about the whole thing. One could really only hope this was some sort of internal thought pattern of Amy, rather than just some little kid (or alien) that looked insanely like her! It would be far more flattering that way.
Though, considering the situation that the group was in, Asher decided not to think too far into anything that was going on. It was probably for the best. At least, he was going to tell himself that! It was better than getting a headache from speculating. Or, better than making a hungry mini-Amy pout about not getting her food.
"Alright," he hummed, placing his hand on the doorknob, deciding that it was also best not to verbally acknowledge the earlier comment on his appearance, and just focus on the food. "Seems like a good time for breakfast, anyway." Sure, why not? Asher certainly didn't care for food this early, but mini-Amy and Anzu seemed interested in the concept!
So, without further delay, he'd open the door. And, hopefully, nothing more weird than their current predicament would be on the other side!

Thus far, it seemed like things were going more or less... smoothly? It was hard to say, since no actions had been taken about the doorknob just yet. But, at least, the group had taken measures to warrant smaller Amy's happiness. Namely? They had accepted —or at least, Akemi had— to be friends. A big smile was soon enough very obvious on the girl's face.
"Really!?" Bright, hopeful eyes set on Akemi the instant afterward. Amy closed the relatively narrow gap that separated them and proceeded to hug the taller woman. By the waist or so, because short. "Thank you, miss! We're gonna be the bestest of friends!"
It took her some moments to undo that sincere gesture of affection. Only then, she'd gaze upwards. "What's your name? I'm Amy!" Only after she introduced herself, she'd answer the question posed to her. "Yup, it's too high! I usually have a stool to reach it, but... I don't know where it is, and I'm not strong enough to drag the bed near the door. I tried but..." No need to complete that sentence, it was obvious than a young girl didn't have the strength to drag a relatively large bed around.
And it seemed like it hadn't been needed, anyway! Asher was rather quick to open the room's door at the promise of breakfast; considering they had just interrupted a midnight snack, it made sense!
What happened then? An unnatural darkness descended upon the room; any kind of light that might've been there before was completely snuffed out, even though there were no other noticeable changes in the atmosphere. Luckily, the full extent of this darkness wouldn't last long; soon afterward, a dim light popped into existence. A small flame, coming from one of little Amy's hands. If one focused on it, they'd notice she was holding a zippo with a simple checkered pattern. If anyone cared, or were knowledgeable enough about it, the insert within it would indicate this was a pipe lighter, rather than an ordinary lighter.
"You think dad will get angry once he finds out I borrowed his lighter? It's just that it's so shiny. And pretty."
That remark aside, it seemed like the trio were next to a pretty narrow hallway; anyone familiar with the layout of Amy's apartment should be able to identify it as the corridor that communicated her room with the living room/kitchen and Ooi's room. With that in mind, getting to the kitchen should be pretty easy, right?
Right?

It was difficult to comprehend that at some point in time, Amy had been shorter than Akemi herself. Nonetheless, the brunette nodded towards the bite-sized Frenchlady, before glancing towards the bed. At the very least, she had befriended the tiny terror that was Small Amy.
And then Asher opened the door, which invited in a blackness comparable to the hearts of twin German spirit wielders, a smothering darkness that made the lights where they were be snuffed out like a clown's presence in a team. Anzu blinked her eyes, before looking down towards the small flame. "I think it really depends on how you use it. Like, don't light the place on fire and I think you'll be fine."
Moving on... "...Let's try moving carefully. Don't want to trip over anything." Akemi noted as she began to walk slooowly into the corridor. Hopefully Small Amy and Asher followed, 'cause Anzu was.

Tiny-Amy was certainly a sight to behold. She just seemed so... energetic! Or, maybe just excited to have company. What was with the little brunette, anyway? Was she actually some part of Amy, somehow? Or, was everyone having some sort of very vivid hallucination?
Surely, Akemi would have a better grasp on if this was reality, considering she had a small human hugging her.
Leaving it to Akemi and Anzu on if anyone would share names, or explaining the logic of why Little-Amy's dad would have reason to worry about her stealing lighters, Asher opted to check and see if his phone was still in his pocket. If it was, he'd pull it out to try to take a look at the time. And, to try to see if he could help light the room at all with it. Worth a shot, right?
"It also probably depends on if your dad has a spare lighter," the redhead chuckled, giving a shrug. For instance, if that was his only one? He might not be too thrilled if he can't find it. Or, if he does find it, and finds that it was out of fuel.
Letting all the girls walk through the doorway ahead of him, while continuing to hold the handle of the door, the teen waited to make sure that Amy didn't have any issues with leaving her room, before they would continue on. Needless to say, Asher was fairly familiar with the layout of the real Amy's apartment, but this one? He couldn't help but feel like it couldn't be an identical match. Would he feel more, or less, on-edge if it turned out to be a replica? He wasn't quite sure yet.
"Is it always this dark here?"
Yet another question that he wasn't sure what answer he preferred to hear. Time would tell, surely.
