An eternity did he wait for those that would come to this place.
An eternity still did he even think of the multitude of problems that would come from his boon upon the world. A forgotten breath from a past that had only run the once. Up until someone shattered that concept, broke it into thousands of pieces. Those pieces eventually coming together to form a pair of schisms under his watchful gaze.
The enormous anubismon sat idly next to the pit to his 'home' his necropolis. Deep within that of the ancient temple. A place that now yawned wide to those that wished to enter. A new world had sprung up amidst the ashes of an empire long forgotten.
His empire.
His forgotten people no longer breathed life into the stars that shone above in the night sky. A painful memory in itself that he could even consider; knowing that none that stood upon the soil above his head knew of this place and what it meant to his people. Their final safe journey into oblivion itself.
They had all agreed that their job as an empire was to watch over this place, where the fabric of time itself was at it's weakest. And together they had stood as one. A single anubismon bearing the weight of an empire.
But this empire opened it's doors now, thanks to the efforts of a sparse few. Humans.
Creatures he had never seen before or never considered before. His empire had come and gone before they had even stepped into the digital world. Before they made their many impacts upon this place. But they had left him devices, creations of sorts that would let him understand there here and now.
So this enourmous beast, deep within the that single massive room that barely could contain his form... Had his eyes glues to a tiny screen, playing again a history he did not understand. That of the humans.
A history that bled into their very own and shaped their very selves.
To those that would be arriving to this place, they'd find that the night sky was pleasant. Cool and brisk, the camp that had been made out front of this place was only tended by a lone keramon. The same scout that had stepped inside this place was now also bound to it in a way. They waited for those that they knew would come. Hoping to lead them to the anubismon within...

"So this is the place that 'call' came from, Levi?"
"Yep... seems to be."
A blonde young human in a black baseball cap and a sweatshirt approached from the distance, accompanied by a Veemon wearing a grey ivy cap. This Veemon appeared to be holding the pair's digivice, following another one of its mysterious yet helpful signals. The temple in front of them was a sight to behold, but the camp definitely caught their attention.
"Hey, look, over there! That's probably where we need to go," said the human, his finger outstretched.
"Well then, that certainly appears to be a camp. Even looks like there's somebody there! Let's go, Alan!"
With that, the pair of intrepid adventurers made their way over to the cozy little place, and greeted the lone Keramon tending to the camp.
"Hello, there! I'm Alan, this is Levi, and we were wondering if you knew anything about some sort of distress call sent out from this place, or at least around here."

Sitting with his radio, the boy seated at the camp scratched his tousled brown hair while he fumbled with it. He couldn't seem to remember what frequency he received this distress call on...but now that he was looking back and forth between the antennae and the stringy Keramon tending the camp, he supposed it didn't matter. The shuffling of sand in the distance was the one thing bringing Sho back to reality. His small hands had brought up his D-Tector on instinct, but seeing that it was merely a human and his Digimon, he was brought back off of the edge. Sho stood up, fixing the collar of his white polo and tucking the digivice into one of his slacks' pockets. He gave a short wave and greeting nod to the pair before going about stashing his radio once again. Getting the words in his head so his mouth wouldn't fumble, he went on to speak. "Hello there...I've been trying to figure out the same thing, figured I might as well try and help out seeing as I'm already here." The mousey voice spoke with a confidence that didn't befit how scrawny he looked, turning back to the others to nod and adjust his glasses. Why did he feel so flustered now of all times? "I did get a call from this place, but I've yet to figure out what it's for. If it was waiting for others to come, well...I think we're all that's coming, right?"

"E-eh?"
A human and a partner digimon? The keramon shifted and looked the pair over a few times. The brows of the small rookie raising slightly as they were sure that someone else was going to answer. But the lone digimon didn't have an issue with this, in fact he was sure that the anubismon wouldn't have an issue with it either.
"Oh! Distress signal? Yeah. uhh..."
The keramon looked back and forth between the two only to have a third individual approach them prompting the scout digimon to jump a little bit in surprise. The scrawny rookie tilting it's head to one side before smiling a little bit, seeming somewhat nervous.
"Yeah. The distress signal was from inside of the temple, the guardian of the place told me to put the mission request in but I already did it which.. is wierd. But uh! If it's just the two of you [three?] then that's everyone. He didn't want a lot of people! N-now follow me! Or uh... something?"
The keramon seemed beyond nervous and would start clambering up the steps of the temple, trying to motion for the humans to follow him. If they didn't he'd just fidget around... waiting for them to ask more questions or talk to one another.

Sho didn't have many things to pack up, though, considering he had to run on all fours across the desert to get here that was honestly for the best. All he had to do was tighten the strap on his satchel, and knock the sand off his slacks and he was ready to go. "We should move swiftly, temples tend to not be kind by the time you're inside them..." Sho noted, nodding his head towards the Keramon as he spoke to Alan. Striding off he went, following side by side with the floating, stringy creature. "How much did the Temple's guardian tell you anyway? I can probably decipher it even if it's cryptic, so getting whatever you've got is going to help us out." He inquired, swiftly retrieving one of his notebooks with a swipe at his satchel's latch. "If any messages came from those actually in distress we'd need those too, unless they're in that tight of a spot." They probably were. After making it through his fair share of architecture and reading one too many light novels, Sho could imagine how bad it would be to enter an active temple with a guardian...Then again, as a researcher, a peek into a place like this might as well be a jackpot. No matter what, he knew he had to keep his eyes open. Narrowing his eyes behind his glasses, he took one long scan around the area, eventually looking back to Alan for a moment. How he wondered what experience the foreigner had in tomb raiding and the like...

Huh. What was it the Keramon was trying to say was weird? If they had sent the distress signal already, it reached someone, and then they arrived, that would be the natural order of events. Alan and Levi were not in a mood to grill their guide over this, though. They started by introducing themselves. "First of all, I suppose it'd be nice to at least know what to call each other. My name's Alan!" "And I'm Levi!" said the pair, reaching out for the appropriate numbers of handshakes.
"No matter what temples 'tend to be,'" said Alan, following the Keramon just as quickly, "if we're truly being led to the temple's guardian, I'm sure it will be far more useful to us to hear any information directly from the source, rather than from someone whom I doubt was told it was their job to remember all information exactly as relayed. Correct me if I'm wrong, though."
Levi spoke up next. The questions he asked were a lot less... businessman-like than Sho's had been. For starters:
"So... is there anything you like to do for fun, Keramon?"

"Not much really, he told me what he wanted and who might sign up for the mission but... Not much else."
The keramon frowned alittle bit and rubbed the back of his head; there wasn't a lot that he could tell these two past that really. The anubismon was a really chatty kathy and he was pretty sure that the other would fill them in.
"Right well! Follow me!"
The keramon would pause when asked what he liked to do for fun. Blinking slowly and owlishly at the dragon type digimon. He'd pause, consider it and then just gesture at the temple behind them.
"I uh. Explore stuff like this for fun and for a living. Pretty much how it's been..."
The little mon shrugged and would lead the group quickly up the stairs of the temple. Within the very entryway of the temple lay an empty podium, a small groove of something that had been resting there for quite some time seeming empty. The keramon hurried past it, ushering the group forward. He seemed to be avoiding looking at the two halls to either side, the one leading deeper in being his sole focus.
"C'mon lets keep going. I'm not supposed to be in here as per what the anubismon wanted but he also wanted me to lead folks in soooo..."
The keramon quickly wiggled forward, his tentacles making it easy for him to speed right along. The next room was a hall with ancient murals placed all along it, two statues at the end of the hall sat inert while two bored looking anubismon sat at the foot of each statue, chattering away at one another in an ancient sounding language. There was laughter and one of them was eating grapes from an old looking bowl. The keramon nervously stepped past each of them though one of them gently reached out to give the keramon a soft pat on the head, causing the rookie to flinch.
The other however gave them a small cheerful wave, grinning toothily and gesturing for them to continue about their way. They weren't the anubismon's that they were looking for after all.
Once past the duo of chattering anubismon well... The trio would find themselves in the presence of a massive metal bound anubismon, easily bigger than some of the mightest buildings. He was hunched over a small device, watching it quietly. Though upon seeing them enter he'd slowly put it away. Grunting in effort he'd pull himself down to a more reasonable size, one of a slightly bigger stature than a regular anubismon.
"Alan Pantel. Levi. Sho Tsuginaga. Thank you for coming and accepting my request. There is much to discuss and you have many questions. I will answer what I can and tell you what you need to know to make the best choices you can make. The time data streams of each schism yield to me an absolute success or a gentle failure. Both of which are acceptable."

"Oh, sweet! So do we!" said Levi to the explorer Keramon. "At least, that's what we like to think we do. We don't get around to it as often as we want."
The pair would continue along their way with the other two. If Keramon seemed uneasy regarding any particular set piece, they would take it upon themselves to also not pay it much heed. Specifically, they would stare on ahead at the three-path split, trusting that the Keramon had been through (he obviously had) and knew not to have anything to do with the other paths. Alan would, however, wave back to the Anubismon who waved along the way. He seemed nice.
After careful consideration of what they wanted to know most, Alan and Levi would proceed to ask their questions of the Anubismon who had issued the task.
"Greetings, Anubismon. To start, I would like to do my best to avoid confusion by clearing up exactly what we're here to do: from what I understand, our task is to enter one of two schisms in time, search for the cause of the schism, which we at least know is located within the schism, and resolve it, thereby closing the schism. If this is correct, I would also like to know whether we can be assured safe passage back to this timeline, even if we succeed in this mission."
"Second of all, we think it's a good idea to clear up our motivations, so that we don't end up faltering after forgetting why we're doing this. What exactly are the time schisms, and why is it important they are closed off?"

The journey to face the massive Anubismon was but a paltry trek through the sand, but Sho's mind was made tumultuous with how many questions bubbling inside it. Like the Keramon proved and Alan said himself; it'd be better to bring the questions they had to the source. Standing in front of the gigantic creature was just about as close as they'd gotten so far, so he was ready to run with whatever his mouth could spout first. In his time spacing out to think, however, it was clear that Alan had already asked his questions, which meant whatever Sho had would have to stumble out of his lips to build off of it. "Ah-, that's true. If these schisms are left open, more in-depth research could be done, so why is it so important to close the rifts in space-time?" Sho inquired, pausing ever so often to keep himself from stuttering. Don't get flustered, it's just an enourmous dog, it's just an enourmous dog...with wings! "Now that I think about it...where were these schisms even found? How much do you know about what caused them, or if you don't have a clue, who could've witnessed their creation and is able to tell us?" Like that, he regained his composure, asking all the questions he intended to while he kicked whatever dirt there might be off his shoe and held his D-Terminal at the ready. And he was ready, eyeing the Anubismon with an intrepid confidence he didn't get to show too often.

”Yes. Your choices have already been made in which you will enter. But I will provide you the information you seek. Once the schisms are in a closing state your own timeline will yank you back, but it will destabilize your essence in a manner of speaking making entering a second schism incredibly dangerous. If that was not the case I would send you into both.”
The anubismon turned his head to Levi who continued from Alan, he’d rub at his chin thoughtfully.
”Each timeline is from the choices that we made in the other worlds. The other us’s that led to the destruction or the enhancement of our lives. They are without a doubt able to influence the choices and outcomes of this timeline. But with both of them being present they are evening out. But they are not the choices of those that are here in the now. They are of the choices of those within the schisms. Let us say in one you decide to go to a different temple, this conversation would never of happened even though it did, your passionate questions and desires would never of come to fruition. But we don’t seem to have that problem with how things are lain out. Closing them will give the elusive desire of control back to your very life.”
The dog turned his head and sighed a bit. If they were left open well..
”Leaving them open is an option yes, studying them is also an option but that is in itself a choice to be made. An in depth research would require more time and energy and as I said before… it’s dangerous to leave them like this.”
Then came more questions from sho. The anubismon mulled for a moment… he’d then sigh again and present to them the gate behind him. Floating above a massive pit. Unlike the previous group that had come here… this time it was active!
”When I activated the gate that goes straight down to my culture’s center of civilization it created a pair of schisms; the artifacts required for it’s starting ripping a hole in the flow of time. This occurred the first time that we opened it but to a marginally lesser degree as the digital world was still young and collecting data on the ‘what ifs’. I was there and saw the creation of these schisms as it was technically by my power and the artifact’s powers that created them.”
The anubismon took a moment and gestured to the pair of schisms.
”One is dark. One is light. One is filled with hope and love, while the other seems to be nothing but hatred and death. Both of them could be problems to the now. I… have bare glimpses into each location that I could share but I am unsure if I should.”

Alan nodded in serious contemplation to each sentence, each leg of the Anubismon's explanation. Two schisms, one leading to a perfect world begotten by a perfect timeline, and one the progeny of a perfect string of flaws. It was easy to see where the latter would be a problem, and it took only a minimally-learned mind to understand the ultimate flaw that was a lack of flaws altogether. They wished to see this perfect timeline. Would it be to their liking? Would it appear immediately horrid in its boundless shimmering glory?
"So..." proffered Levi, "if the schisms were created at least in part by your power, our first steps would be too seek out your alternative within the schism and see if he knows anything about its appearance?"
"We would appreciate any information you have to offer," added Alan, "but if there is something you have reason to believe you shouldn't say, then I will not try to force you to tell."

Sho tapped his foot along to the canine deity's answers, ingesting the information and letting his brain chew on it while he kept his mouth shut. Even Alan's response didn't product any immediate reaction or attraction of his attention. Right now, Sho was too busy shuffling words around for actual questions than to add onto any of his. But, after hearing it all, it seemed clear to him that there weren't any more questions to ask, they needed experience. Hah! Isn't this the reason I joined the field club? I got sick of all the questions, didn't I? He thought. But the thoughts were so unlike him that it snapped him out of his zone. "Once the elaborations are finished, I think I'd like the schism of light the best. Other than my personal preference...it seems like the one least likely to provoke the immediate threat of death." He asserted, although his heart seemed to twist up and tie itself into a sickening knot. But, this time it only produced a slight wince, one he turned into a smirk. He'd gotten used to it after all. Those feelings didn't have to be his. "I don't think there's much we can do out here now that we've got our background to this whole situation. Want to head over there now while the information is still fresh in our heads?" He asked.
