A Not So Deep Dive [Weird Gremlin Twins]

"Don't do something you're good at for free." Nareli responded to that last bit, prompting Torio to jab her in the leg. She wasn't light about it, but Nareli knew it was coming. Girl was once again very lucky the little lion didn't have a sandal to pelt her in the face with. "As if you were any good at it! The most damage you can do is to my patience!" The Coronamon called her right out, giving Nareli the exact reaction she was looking for- which of course, amused her to no end.
Her scolding of her twin finished, Torio turned back to Mari and Arimon like she hadn't just unleashed the anger of a discount mom. "I'm bad at explaining this stuff, but at the very least my sister and I would be happy to show you around- and how to get back home. It's a bit of a pain but.. it's free! And you get to see some of the towns around here." She could at least offer that much to break the silence. "That is.. assuming your spirit wouldn't already know that stuff."

The responses that the twins had to the last bit that the Arimon had mentioned somehow made Mari a little more uncomfortable than she already was, but the girl managed to shrug it off. "...What's wrong with you two?" Mari asked the twins, quite plainly. It was pretty clear she had no idea this was normal for the duo.
Arimon leaned in towards Mari and not so subtly whispered, "I'd take her up on the offer--she seems like a sweetheart." Which resulted in Mari just shooing the plant away. Arimon did have an answer to that last bit, though. "I've been dead for a century, so while I do know some towns, it's likely that they've changed, become cities, or are gone entirely. That said, show her the way home."
After a period of silence, Mari just asked, "P-Please." Being here was actually starting to give her a headache. Way too much stuff to take in at once. The girl just rubbed her head quietly.

"What's wrong with us?" The twins repeated at the same time and then just kind of looked at each other and then back at Mari confused, and then both shrugging at the same time. On the upside, Mari's question had distracted Torio from Nareli's silly antics.
"...Don't Digimon usually just go back to being eggs?" Torio muttered to herself, but then shook her head. Question wasn't worth asking just to hear the obvious and usual bit about spirits being special cases. It would've been more headache for Mari anyway.
"Okay! Hope you like trains." Nareli spun around and started walking in a direction that Torio could only assume was at least vaguely going generally towards Whitewater. No mind to the fact she was still in her human form and not exactly someone who didn't draw a lot of attention just by existing.
Torio wasn't gonna start a fuss about it. This time. At least not until it put the one who was new to this nonsense in danger. "Knowing my sister you should probably just follow me. She's kind of a pain to keep up with, even on foot." The Coronamon huffed and started to walk in the same direction as Torio, albeit at a much slower pace so Mari could keep up with her without more effort than appropriate.

Well, now that Mari had thought about it? Just saying that to the twins was not only more than a bit rude, but...yeah, she could see why they'd be so confused at that. At the very least, she managed to distract them from whatever it was they were talking about. The green haired girl was pretty lost on that regard. Arimon meanwhile shook her head. "Not all the time, I'm afraid." The plant spoke, quite plainly.
It was nice that Nareli at least listened to Arimon's plea to lead Mari home....Granted, that was only vaguely in the direction of Whitewater. Either way, the plant spirit dematerialized back into Mari's D-Tector, which she only now noticed was in her hand. ...Weird.
Either way, Mari got up, and went to go follow Torio, glancing down at the Coronamon. "...I believe it." She murmured, before she went to pat the kitty on the head. "Thanks for at least...you know, being easy to follow." ...This felt awkward.

...Awkward, yes. Most definitely. Though the portion of her spirit was all for it, being a cat and all. This empathy thing was damn weird. "...You're welcome." The Coronamon murmured, fortunately for the situation having enough self-control to not immediately purr in response. Nareli had already gone ahead, leaving the others in the dust- as would be typical for this gremlin. Torio at least kept a pace she felt pretty certain a normal human walking even unfit could keep up with, which likely took a bit of adjustment given how fast the little furball could run when she wanted to in this form.
Torio couldn't remember how far off Whitewater was. Just that it was in the direction Nareli was going. And even if Nareli knew, she wasn't exactly in a position to ask her. So.. They'd get there when they'd get there. "Do you uh.. Go to school?" The Coronamon asked after a bit of walking in an awkward attempt to strike up a conversation. Pretty good still though for someone who spent most of their time inside.

If there had been anything that Mari had picked up from this so far, it was that the Coronamon felt nice to pet. Which was kind of obvious considering it was a cat, who wouldn't pet a cat? An absolute monster, that's who. Nareli having took off ahead of them left her alone with the kitty, either way, so Mari was...at a loss on what to say.
So, Torio's question had actually not been as awkward as she had imagined. "Huh?" Mari blinked in response, before she actually answered. "Uh...Yeah, I do. Why?" She didn't have much of an idea who Torio was or what background she hailed from, so this was a rather odd question to ask to the girl. "...Wait, if you're human too, then...you're probably wondering if we're classmates, right?" She tilted her head.
Wha.

"Just curiosity, really. I'm home-schooled." Mari responded, though it definitely wasn't something she could be proud of. "You could be classmates with Nareli though! Er.. Or seen her, at least. Doesn't exactly do a good job of not drawing attention to herself.." The Coronamon hadn't heard anything about any school friends Nareli might've had in a good long while. If they'd been friends, they would've recognized each other from the get-go and boy would that have likely made that initial encounter just a whole lot smoother.
"I just wanted to ask what it was like really. If it sucked or not.. I dunno." Maybe she should've thought up something better to talk about. She just kinda pulled an "awkward dad" move on complete accident. "Nareli will probably realize she went too far ahead soon enough and turn back.. Or not. Probably not though, I feel pretty certain we'll be at Whitewater long before her brain starts working properly." Torio joked with a shrug.
Someone save this poor awkward cat from herself.

Now that Mari had thought about it some, that name, Nareli, had been familiar to her. Maybe it was the fall or the alien world or everything else she had been going through today, but that name rang with familiarity for some reason. And then, Torio noted that possibility (which was, in fact, true) and Mari's eyes proverbially widened.
"...I know that name." She stated. "I...uh. She does a -lot- of crazy things that draw attention to herself, yeah." But how was school in general? From a schoolgirl to a homeschooled one? "I...Well, I'd say school's alright. But I don't have anything to compare that to. How's being homeschooled?"
She glanced around for any sign of the rabbitified Nareli, before she looked back to the awkward cat with a biiiit of curiosity.

"Yeah, I figured as much that she would.." Torio sighed deeply. She wasn't so much surprised as she was just.. tired. Disappointed wasn't the right word for it, so she settled on tired. "I like to think she's gotten better since we came here and got to exploring, though." The Coronamon pointed out, sounding a whole lot more hopeful. "Heck, if this digital world stuff is possible then surely Nareli growing up a little isn't completely off the table."
Her silly sister and her sillier antics aside, Mari posed a good question. It wasn't exactly hard to answer, the answer just wasn't any fun. "Er.. It's okay I guess. I would still really prefer public school, though I know right now it's just not possible." That was probably about the best way she could put it. Much better than going on about how miserable it all is.
There wouldn't be any sign of Nareli though. At least not for a while. Soon enough the Lunamon would drop as if from nowhere back into the group, floating and drifting along aside Torio who didn't seem at all surprised by the sudden appearance. To her this was just standard Nareli behavior. "You guys are so SLOW."

"You know her better than I do. I legitimately only know her name...And the fact she can turn into a rabbit." Did that make her a wererabbit? No, wait, that only happens on full moons...Mari perished that thought for the moment. "How...How come it's not possible?" Mari inquired towards Torio, genuinely unknowing of what the Coronamon had to deal with in her human form.
Whatever the answer that the lady provided may be, Mari was quickly startled by Nareli dropping out of nowhere, and in what might have been the most uncharacteristic action she had pulled thus far in this world, bellowed out a single word that could probably be heard for a mile.
"FUCK!"
She even topped that off by nearly jumping! "Don't SCARE ME LIKE THAT!"

Nareli being a goblin seemed to spare Torio from having to answer that complicated question for the moment. For once, she was thankful her sister was just so all over the place. The loud, echoing "FUCK" had both Digimon holding their ears and wincing. That volume would've been impressive if it didn't also cause a level of discomfort for those with ears that were a little more sensitive than normal.
The Coronamon reached up to swat Nareli over the head. "Slow down for us then! Be more considerate of who you're dropping in on before you decide to pop out of the trees, idiot!" Torio scolded her twin, pointing a finger accusingly to really push the point. "Jeez.. Okay! Chill out hotstuff, didn't mean to scare your new friend." The Lunamon responded after rubbing the back of her head briefly, sticking her tongue out towards Torio.
Letting out an indignant huff, Torio turned back to Mari with a look of concern. "Are you okay?"

Mari had very briefly forgotten that she was around people who at present had some rather keen hearing, so her yelling was...more than uncalled for, really. She had to take a few breaths to calm herself while Torio swatted her sister upside the head and gave her a lecture for being a goblin.
Luckily, Torio didn't need to answer that question considering Mari didn't dare to bring it up again. She looked to Tori, who seemed rather concerned for her. "Y-Yeah, I'm fine. Your sister scared the absolute shit out of me, though..." Mari murmured, before looking to Nareli with a glare. "You're literally no different than at school. Except you're a furry now, I guess." Was that insensitive? Calling her a furry?
Maybe.

"...Holy crap, I never thought of that." Nareli's eyes widened, Mari had both surprised her and gave her a new insult to use. That in mind, she pointed at Torio. "You're a furry too!" The Lunamon laughed, prompting Torio to take another swing at her. Though Nareli dodged out of the way this time, now prepared for any potential smiting by her sister.
"Why would I be any different? The school gets paid to deal with me, not the other way around." Nareli finally responded to the former half of what Mari said, floating just out of reach of Torio. The rabbit squinted and leaned just a bit closer to Mari. "Do I know you? I don't think I know you." She tilted her head. Her memory wasn't bad so much as she didn't care to remember faces from that place. School was her least favorite place to be so she saw no point in it.
Torio huffed, giving up on her pursuit of her sister and turning back to Mari. "I wouldn't feel sad if she doesn't recognize you- That just tells me you haven't done anything crazy enough to make her notice you."

Yeah, Mari wasn't sure what she was expecting saying that to Nareli of all people, nor was she really surprised that she wasn't anyone that the girl would remember from school. She was exactly right on the mark about Nareli being exactly how she was in school, though. "We're in the same class. I'm Mariko." She stated, quite plainly.
Quickly turning her attention to the distinctly more furry sibling, Mari shrugged. "I don't know if that's good or bad, but I somehow feel a bit relieved knowing I haven't done anything someone'd consider crazy at school." She spoke towards the Coronamon, not seeming too fazed. "How long until we get to that train thingy?" She asked out loud, before Arimon briefly appeared besides her with a yawn.
"Not too far." The spirit uttered. "How's it hanging, girls?"
