Maybe Amy had given the wrong impression with her speech? It seemed like at least Elsie had quite the wild idea regarding how the brunette felt towards her current boyfriend.
"Absolutely." She answered right away, without hesitating. Even if her current state of mind wasn't the best, at least she didn't have any doubts regarding that. "What I was trying to say is that, even if Piper doesn't like girls coming near her brother, she can't expect for Asher give up on dating forever, since that's what people do when they find someone they like, right? That, or maybe she wants for him to turn gay, I guess. I wouldn't be very happy about it, honestly." But maybe another person would be. Another person that probably was spending some quality time with her boyfriend somewhere in northern prominence, even if that didn't matter much.
As far as Amelie was concerned, and even if Asher had definitely played hard to get at the start, if their relationship had any problems —imaginary or otherwise— those were her fault, not his. "No, he didn't. I don't know where we stand at the moment, but if there's somebody who did something wrong, that person should be me." A sigh escaped her mouth right away. Talking about this topic was as hard as it got, especially considering that the twins seemed to be incapable of faulting her for much. She had to wonder if she really wanted to be on the receiving end of such a speech, however. Especially when considering that her current mental state wasn't great.
The young woman gave a nod in response to both twins' shrugs before a tiny smile took over her face for a couple of seconds. "I guess you're still at that age; sometimes I kinda forget that you're a good deal younger than me. Back then, I kinda thought that boys were gross too." And, honestly, they kinda are. Most of the time. "But after some years, either you become more tolerant or they become less gross, or maybe a bit of the two. Or, maybe they just will be gross forever; right, Els?"
Whether jokingly or teasingly, everyone present probably knew what the brunette was referring to. But that had just been a remark, right? She then turned to face Evie "It's a good thing that your would-be suitors disappeared, though. If they're as uninteresting as you said they are, that seems like the best outcome. Especially when the alternative is just them being creepers and stalking you forever. That's totally not cool."
Speaking from experience? Maybe. In any case... it wasn't like they'd have the time to talk about how teenage/young adult romance and dating worked, especially when considering they were inside a 'haunted' castle now; whatever that meant. "I mean, if whoever owned this castle liked confusing its visitors, I can already see why your spirits are supposed to be here." That witty comment had the potential to cost her dearly in the future, but... at least whoever resided here could've been kinder with poor Els. She wasn't having the best of times.
Amy found herself pondering the question Evie posed for a couple of seconds, even though she eventually shrugged. "I kind of have a castle already, y'know? Deephold totally counts." By now, she was faking indignation considering how the blonde dared to forget about that. "It's up to you if it's eccentric or not, though. Because I frankly have no idea. What do you think?"
The somewhat tense-yet-relaxed atmosphere was broken as soon as the question about spirits, and its subsequent answer was issued. It was interesting how neither had said a single word until she was finished yet... oddly fitting as well, in a sense.
"Yes. Yes, I do." She confirmed, despite the fact that such an answer had been heavily implied moments before. "What about you? Do you find it important?"
Curiosity and all, even though, for some reason, Amy didn't expect to get a direct answer to it, and it wasn't like it mattered a lot to get it; otherwise, why would they be here if that wasn't the case, after all?
With that out of the way, the group would focus on the books, and on Amy's Evie's plan to just steal them all and read them later, on a better-suited place than some dusty library. Good idea, right? Thus, she kinda began helping the blonde by packing some of the books that caught her interest in her own infini-store. Twice as fast, right?
She had been ignoring most of what the girls have been discussing, until Evie referred specifically to her. Did she read? "Yeah. I don't know how or why, but I can just... understand these symbols, even though I couldn't quite call it 'reading'. It's weird to explain." Unless further inquired, that's where the explanation would stop. Who knows; the twins were probably not even interested in the details.
Not like anyone present had enough time to dwell on it, anyway. It seemed like the clock was doing some kind of... magic? Illusion? Something of the sort? In all honesty, Amy had no idea, and its duration was short enough that she was just left wondering what exactly had happened. All while Elsie decided that hiding behind her was a good idea.
Who knows, maybe it was! "It wasn't so bad this time. It almost seemed like the magic the fairy godmother used with Cinderella, actually." Considering the gold glow, one could only guess! "Maybe the clock hit midnight and that's why the spell was broken. And maybe Cinderella wanted to prevent the clock from snitching her out, so she just smashed it? That'd make sense to me."
Or... not really, but what other explanation could be given to the situation at hand? This place couldn't be trusted on the slightest, but as long as the residual magic over here wasn't threatening to them, and nothing reminded Amelie about the fact that her spirits could be related to what was happening in here, things would be fine.
There was no point in calling this trip now since their exit had been cut off the last time they had exited, so... the girl inhaled before setting her right foot on the first step of the airs. "If there's something dangerous below, it'd make sense for me to be at the front. Gotta act like the leader I'm supposed to be, right? Sides, I'd be a shame if something happened to Eves before she got herself a boyfriend. Pretty sad, right?"
At least the brunette was getting better at pretending she was fine. She could even crack half-decent jokes at her friend's expense! Let's just hope that'd be enough for the ocassion at hand.

The twins mulled over the idea of what might make Piper happier regarding her brother's love life. Would it be easier for her if he liked guys? Evie felt like the feeling of her sister dating women would be the same if it were men. So, she could only conclude that there was no way that anything would make the redhead girl happy! But, on the bright side, they'd gotten a clear answer that the boyfriend wasn't in the wrong, when it came to whatever was going on in Amelie's love life!
But, it was quite easy to discern that the topic was making Amy more unhappy, than anything. Which certainly wasn't their intent for dragging her out here! Wordlessly, Evie trailed back a little, to give her sister a small pat on the shoulder, before continuing her exploration. Maybe, it was just a hint to let the topic drop without giving further input. "Well," she started, while the wild-haired sibling remained silent, "try not to worry about it much right now." Easier said than done! "Otherwise, you might think of problems that aren't really there." Were those wise words? Or childish ones? Either way, it should be clear from it that Evie had either lost interest in the topic, or was trying to give Amy an easy way to escape it.
At the comment of age gaps, however, Elsie wasn't going to stay too quiet. "It's not that big of a difference," she felt the immediate need to argue. Of course, that's what a child would say. "Guys are totally staying gross, though. For sure." Rather firm answer, really! Not something that Evie necessarily would agree with, but who was to judge? Plus, it probably saved the prim-and-proper twin some headaches regarding whatever suitor would pine after her sibling.
Just like it saved everyone a headache, when Evie's suitors would just randomly go missing! "I guess," she had to agree, "stalkers sound tiring." Maybe, she should count her blessings that no relationships-of-sorts had worked out, as of yet!
While one twin wondered if it was supposed to be a jab a them, commenting on their spirits locations, the statement clearly soared over the head of the other girl. It was up to the reader's imagination on which twin fit which description! Mostly because neither of them acknowledged it! Soon enough, both were mulling over Deephold being Amelie's castle, instead.
That was pretty accurate, wasn't it? "I suppose that'd be considered fairly eccentric," Evie concluded, while tapping a finger to her lower lip. Deephold certainly was a building like no other! Or, nothing anything either twin had seen, at the very least! "I'm unsure if a place like it would exist outside of the Digital World, after all." Just like this castle! Definitely wouldn't exist in 'reality!'
With topics shifting to keep the adventure interesting, it was probably fairly inevitable to find out their company's stance on spirit collecting. And, probably just as inevitable that the question would be turned onto them. Both girls exchanged glances, and Elsie gave a slow shrug. "I guess. We're here, aren't we?" Fitting answer, for the girl who absolutely did not want to be in the building!
And, though Evie didn't initially answer the question, it seemed like she still had some input, as she began to steal the majority of the castle's library. "You know, there's that saying that knowledge is power," she commented, idly. "I feel like spirits have the potential to provide a lot of knowledge, don't you?" Maybe, Amy would disagree. Her spirits were quite different, after all!
After a pause, Evie would run her finger down the spine of a book, as if trying to decipher the language. "Though, I guess there's also just the potential for raw power, instead." Maybe, that was more likely with Amy's spirits, instead of knowledge. Evie couldn't really tell from what she'd seen thus far of her teammate's digivolution. It certainly felt more like a brute, than a scholar, after all.
Which was Evie actually hoping for, out of this 'spirit user' deal?
Maybe, she'd just want to learn how to read. "Hopefully, someday books will auto-translate for me," she commented, with a shrug. That was basically what Amy was implying, wasn't it? If not, Eves would be none-the-wiser, unless corrected!
Was Amy going to be right about the 'story' for the strange occurrences within the castle, though? "Well, I sure hope Cinderella's nice," Elsie uttered, lowly. Yes. Cinderella. That's what they'd be calling the mysterious entity, now! "Doomed to beat the shit out of a clock every," pause. Elsie scrunched her nose. "Hour? That much time definitely hadn't passed since they entered the building! But, the clock was definitely broken, so who really knew how often the thing thought hours passed!
Either way, Amy would probably be the first one to find out the deal with the clock, since she was descending the stairs first! At least Evie seemed more than willing to take this jab in stride! "Exactly," she chimed, while giving a surprisingly mischievous mile, "you'll have to keep me safe until then!" Oh, yes, this would definitely bite Amy. At this rate, it was more likely that hell would freeze over, before Evie found herself a suitable boyfriend! "It's really for the greater good."
"Greater good, my--" the red-eyed sibling mumbled under her breath, as the group began to walk down the stairs, brunette in the lead. Luckily? It was a pretty uneventful trip. While it felt like the stairs swirled down for quite some time with no escape, once they reached the base of the staircase, there was no sign of where the laughter had come from! Nor dust unsettled!
Now, it seemed that they were near the back of a large, mostly open room. A wall on the opposing end seemed entirely missing, having given way to copious amounts of ice and snow, though the shambles that poked from the avalanche could implicate that a large door once stood along the wall. The proper entrance, perhaps?
This did appear to be the ground floor, after all. And, looking up, it could easily be established that the staircase they had descended outright skipped at least one floor along the way! A balcony, with railing, lined most of the walls, displaying plenty of other doorways to be explored! Sadly, it didn't look like an easy thing to venture, as there didn't appear to be another staircase. Maybe, it was lost to the snow as well.
On the bright side, one culprit could almost be spotted, unmistakably! A large grandfather clock sat along the closest wall, clearly having seen better days. While the rest of the room appeared to be some sort of entrance, leading into an equally dusty throne hall behind the stairs. With Amy leading the way, she'd get to choose if they went to examine the source of all of the noise, or if they'd just continue further into this place!
If she picked the clock, it seemed that she'd find that it was definitely missing some pieces, and that there was a glass door that could easily be opened, which left the pendulum and weights on display for anyone to see! But, the weights both sat inside, on the floor of the base. Maybe that was the problem with it?
Though, if the brunette decided the clock wasn't relevant, she could always travel onward, into the throne hall, which was elegantly designed in stereotypical reds and golds. While there were pictures on the walls, it seemed they had not held up nearly as well as the map on the upper floor, and were nearly impossible to identify what could be on them! But, true to a throne hall, the end of the hall was slightly raised, with two large chairs placed side-by side, a slightly askew curtain acting as their backdrop! Surely, it was quite a nice sight, back when the castle had been maintained. But these days? The dust-coated seats and tattered curtain were almost sad to see. Was there even very much that could be done over there?

Evie was, indeed, a girl that had the ability to be pretty wise for her age when she wasn’t too busy trolling having fun at the expense of others. Her advice was… surprisingly good. Amelie managed to muster a small smile at it.
“I will try to. Thanks.”
Of course, such a warm moment would obviously be short-lived, considering the unforgivable act of disrespect that was the brunette commenting about the age difference between herself and the twins. Somehow, the brunette found herself smirking at the notion. “Three years isn’t a lot, is it?” A smirk was barely contained after uttering that phrase. “Sides one or two things, I don’t really know if I have changed a lot since I was fifteen. I’d almost say I’m still the same person, if you know what I’m talking about. Except for the fact that guys suddenly aren’t that gross, for whatever reason. Some days I kinda wish they stayed that way, though! So, maybe you’re on the good track, Els.”
All things considered, Amy was pretty appreciative of those moments when neither sister decided to act or comment on the words she said; it either meant that they refused to acknowledge words that maybe were a bit too real… or that they just didn’t want to delve too deep into the topic; in either case, the young woman found those dead ends to be quite funny in their own way. Such a moment led to the comments regarding Amy’s very own castle, and how the twins had dared to forget about its existence.
“I guess you answered the question on your own, then!” She remarked, a hint of pride in her voice. It was obvious that Deephold was very dear to Amelie. “I wanted for our place in the Digital World to be special, and I think I succeeded at it.”
No topic would be kept alive for long, interestingly enough; soon enough, each person was exposing their reasons for them to be hunting spirits, even though the brunette couldn’t help but to raise an eyebrow to Elsie’s words. She didn’t comment on her reasons, but they seemed a bit… contradictory? Of course, Evie would prove to be more thorough in her reasoning, even if, in the end, it was still pretty vague.
On its own way, that was fine, though. “I see.” Her voice trailed on in thought, just as she turned to gaze at the prim-and-proper twin. “It’s a pretty interesting set of reasons, overall. What do you plan to do once you acquire all that knowledge and raw power?” I had to be for a reason after all, right? Power for the sake of power wasn’t something that she saw Evie aiming for realistically. If anything, there was something underneath that desire. Even though… the brunette wasn’t very hopeful on that reason being disclosed. Worth the try, though!
A finger was brought to her chin in a pensive way at what Evie said next. “I don’t think it’s auto-translating either but… yeah, let’s leave it there.” It was a sensation she didn’t want to delve into too deeply; it wasn’t hard to guess where such knowledge came from, after all.
Especially when considering the slew of weird events that were already underway. Least to say, Elsie wasn’t the only one who hoped that Cinderella would be a gracious hostess. “I mean.” Considering how the blonde was very… Elsie-y, for the lack of a better word, Amy was a bit surprised she hadn’t thought about this. “At least I can say that beating the shit out of a gizmo that makes annoying noises every hour must feel cathartic. Doubt I can really blame our Cinderella.” Sides the fact that maybe she needed to learn anger management, but that was just a tiny detail!
In any case, the older member of the trio would proceed to take the lead at descending downstairs, much to at least one twin’s amusement. At the very least, Amy was getting a chuckle out of it! “Careful with what you wish for.” Little did Evie know that the brunette’s expression was mirroring hers. “I never had a younger sister to dote over. I doubt you’d be able to handle the position for too long and, unlike your suitors, I don’t plan on disappearing any time soon.” A strange threat, all things considered. How would Evie react to it? No way to know, really.
At the very least, their descent had been pretty uneventful, overall. Sure, the stairs had prolonged themselves for far too long, but nothing of note had really happened, so that was fine. What about their destination, then? It seemed like it had seen better days for sure. It took Amelie a couple moments of observation to realize that… yup, the entrance was blockaded here as well. A sigh came out of the brunette’s lips right away; there wouldn’t be an easy way out, would it? The castle’s ruins themselves seemed vast, but their options inside of them were pretty reduced, considering the fact that… well, they were ruined. After that quick scan, the first thing that caught the young woman’s attention was the clock that had decided that resting amid the room was a good idea.
Unceremoniously, she approached the device and attempted to pick it up. “Wonder if this was the thing that made the noises we heard before.” She commented before attempting to open the glass door. “Think it’s a good idea to fix it up? Maybe it’ll help us find an exit if the dusty thing restores the door to its original shape.”
That sounded like a plan, at least a bit! Before getting any response, Amy was already toying with the clock’s mechanism, as if trying to see how much of the damage it withstood could be undone. “By the way. Any new readings from your digivices? Hope we’re on track to find those spirits. Otherwise, I’m going to feel pretty dumb about myself.”
Gotta have your priorities clear, right?

Was three years a huge difference? In some senses, maybe. In Elsie wanting to sound mature and totally refined? Not at all. But, instead of Elsie trying to defend a point of any sort, Amy was stuck listening to Evie be the troll that she was! "Careful what you say," the blonde chimed, spinning to stare at the brunette. Continuing a fluid motion, she pressed her index into her cheek, twisting her finger to give a dimple to her smile, and winking. "You don't want us to think you're elderly, do you?"
Respect your elders, Evie!
At least Amy couldn't think of many differences between maturity in their ages. It probably saved her a massive amount of teasing regarding her old age!
It was probably a good thing that they had brought Amelie along on this adventure, honestly. This would have been such a bore, without the extra company! Sure, the twins always had each other, but Evie certainly didn't want to put up with her sister's whining the whole time. And, it almost felt like they were only one person, anyway! Aside from when they'd have their disagreements. So, the conversations would continue on as they explored further down the hall, and into the library.
Which was entertainment enough for Evie, anyway. "It's definitely special!" Evie confirmed, while busying herself with books. Collect all the books! All the knowledge! Elsie would only nod to agree, but didn't seem interested in helping with books. Probably because she still hated being here!
Even if she did have to be here if she wanted her spirits. Which was where the topic had led into next! A small scoff came from the red-eyed twin, while the prim-and-proper sister flashed an almost knowing smile. "We'll see, if it happens!" If, not when? Well, it seemed that Amy wasn't going to solve that mystery any time soon. Especially if Evie was making sure to consider which words were used in her sentences! Surely, there would be a 'when.' "Do you have any suggestions?" Further proof that Amy wouldn't succeed in prying too deep!
But, once books were collected, and Evie established that auto-translate was the wrong word for whatever happened with understanding Digital Languages, they could continue on to a lower floor! One good note was that Amy knew how to make Elsie's nerves settle a bit! "Think she'll let us beat the clock up, too?" It was pretty annoying, after all!
For now, it was time to meet the clock, though! And to do that? They had to descend! "As long as you remember, it's a package deal. I can't be someone's little sister, without bringing my twin." Would Elsie agree to such a 'terrible' fate? Instead of commenting, she only puffed her cheeks as some sort of protest. Unfortunately for Elsie, it would go unnoticed, considering she was the end of this stair-train.
Luckily, this floor wasn't very intimidating! Otherwise, Elsie would have been at a loss. Instead, it seemed fairly average, all things considered. "Probably was," Elsie commented, leaning around Amy to try to get a better look at the clock while she worked on it. "I don't see any other old, annoyin' looking clocks around here." Probably for the best, too! More of these things going off at random intervals would drive the blonde absolutely mad!
Meanwhile, Evie gave the brunette a little space, though continue to face her and the clock. At the prompt to check her digivice, she pulled it from her pocket. And, much like Elsie's earlier, a compass appeared. Which flickered in circles, occasionally pausing in the direction of the clock, only to spin and point at the throne room. The poor device really didn't know where it was going, did it? Surely, it was trying its best!
"Well," the girl hummed, while tapping her fingernail to the display, "it might like the clock, but seems pretty unsure about it."
With Amy's tinkering, she'd find that the entire clock was actually very basic. It was pretty standard to most grandfather clocks, with pulleys waiting for the weights to be placed. "I think this one goes there," Elsie suggested, pointing from a weight, to a pulley. Did she know what she was doing? Not really! But, she was trying to be helpful! How many ways could someone mess up a clock, anyway?
As long as the suggestion was followed, and each weight was put on the pulleys, it seemed that not much else could be done with the device! Aside from beating it with a fist, maybe. But, that didn't seem necessary. As soon as the pieces were in their proper places, there was no fanfare, as might be expected from the previously raucous item.
Instead, a small set of feet pitter-pattered away from directly behind the group, letting out a child-like giggle.
Then, the only thing anyone would be able to hear would be a high-pitched squeak from deep within Elsie's throat. Red eyes were opened as wide as possible, as she tried to shuffle into Amy's side. "Ooh, noo, we're not doing this," she managed, almost as high-pitched as the initial squeal.
Evie seemed notably less phased, looking down at her digivice. If the sounds were moving away from them, that meant they probably weren't in any danger, anyway! Not that looking would have helped anyone. Despite the sounds, if anyone had looked, nobody was there! "Oh," was there good news to this? "I think you did something at least." As if audio cues weren't good enough! The compass had finally made up its mind! And, pointed directly into the throne room!
And, if that wasn't a strong enough indicator? Small footprints slowly appeared in the dust, as if belatedly following the audio trail, leading directly to the chairs. A grinding sound echoed from the area that the prints stopped, and everyone would suddenly feel a chilling breeze ripple out from behind the damaged curtain that adorned the wall behind the thrones.
"I think you found an exit," Evie chimed, after a moment of processing.
"I think you found ghosts," Elsie uttered, trying to find a way to flatten herself to the brunette. There wasn't much more to do, other than proceed, was there?

It was funny how, from a response that denoted so much maturity and care, Evie switched to one that was only meant to tease Amy; the comment itself was even followed by a pretty amusing expression! Amy got a chuckle out from the mood shift. “I’m always careful with what I say. I’m pretty far from being elderly, in all honesty; I’d have to like chocolate chip mint ice cream or something equally heinous for that to be plausible! I wouldn't be surprised if my tastes are more childish than either of yours."
A bit of a contradiction, wasn't it? But it wasn't like Amy wasn't already full of those. It was an unequivocally good thing that the twins thought highly of Deephold; or maybe they didn’t, but the brunette preferred to interpret her words that way. No harm in that, right? With some luck, they’d be done with the books pretty soon and would be able to advance. Speaking of which. How many books had the group stolen borrowed by now? It was pretty hard to tell.
Just like she had predicted, trying to pry on if either twin had plans once they had acquired all their spirits had proven to be a fruitless endeavor. Its vagueness, however, had managed to be telling to an extent.
“Suggestions?” Amy hummed while she pretended to think. “I don’t know. Maybe crush your enemies one by one, then use the ashes of everything they held dear as the foundation of your own timeless empire?” There was a pregnant moment of silence before the brunette herself waved dismissively. “Just~ kidding. We could probably have a barbecue by the beach to celebrate we don’t have to search those annoying totems anymore. That’d be pretty nice, don’t you think?”
Way better than anything that could be done up in Northern Providence, for sure! Constant blizzards and snowstorms had their way of hindering outdoor activities like few things could. Luckily for the group, the activity they were carrying out at the moment didn’t involve being outdoors. Else, things wouldn’t have been so pleasant even though… it wasn’t like they were very pleasant to begin with.
“With any luck, she will.” If the thing kept on being annoying, maybe Amy herself would participate in beating it up! She wasn’t joking when she said that breaking things was cathartic, after all. What about adopting both twins, though? Could it even be called adopting? Probably not in strict terms, but close enough. “Of course I know that.” She replied with a smirk. “But I think that Els will have a lot less objections about being doted over, even though she'll probably be the most outward on her complaints about it. But that’s just how being a doting older sister is, I guess.”
Had it been a good idea to mess with the clock? Considering both twins’ encouragement, it seemed like it! The conclusion, however, left her slightly at loss; not to say that it had left Elsie a bit scared. Amy, however? She was alert, even though not very preoccupied about the whole deal.
Good news? It seemed like they were nearer their goal than ever. Taking a deep breath, the brunette took a speed forward. “But Els.” She reasoned. “Bakemons aren’t that bad. Most of them are quite cowardly, you know? I think we can handle those.” A bit of a reckless assumption, but she really wanted to be done with this once and for all. Evie’s own statement was pretty much everything that she needed. “Sides, it seems like we’re about to be done here. We can get hot cocoa once this is over to celebrate. How does that sound?”
Regardless of the answers, Amelie would push forward. What was by the thrones and their surroundings? Time to find out!

Listening to Amy's 'careful' wording, Evie clicked her tongue to the roof of her mouth. A snort could easily be heard from her wild-haired sister. "You weren't careful with that wording, at all!" The poised twin stated, very seriously. "Mint chocolate is my favorite!" Go figure, the girl with Mint as her Tamernet name would love mint chocolate chip ice cream, huh?
"Guess you're a granny now, eh?"
"Shut up!" the blonde squeaked, comically puffing up her cheeks and spinning to 'glare' at her sister. Gosh, everyone was so rude! "It's even better with chocolate syrup on it." Oh, god, how could anyone eat something that sweet? Elsie's teeth hurt, just thinking about how much sugar was in that!
Now, there was a much better suggestion after the discussion of ice cream, though! Celebrations that didn't involve Evie getting gray hair! At least, one could hope. "We could do both," the girl 'innocently' commented, running her thumb over the spine of one of the books she had pilfered from the library.
Barbecue on the ashes of our enemies," Elsie clarified. Just in case anyone wasn't sure how both things could be accomplished! She even gave a proud nod, clearly approving of the idea! Or, at least, pretending to. Nobody sane would actually find that a great idea, right?
It was probably best to clear the air of that notion, too, right? "The beach is probably a bit nicer, though!" Unless it was a really crappy beach. The twins surely wouldn't make any enemies that lived somewhere nice, right? Unless that became the case, the beach was most definitely the best option!
Then again, Deeplane was pretty nice, and Amy certainly wasn't making best of friends with the twins, with all these shots fired! "I wouldn't complain," Elsie commented, while puffing her cheeks just as dramatically as her sister had earlier. Crossing her arms, the teen scrunched her nose. "Wait, I mean I don't need doted on," now, there was further face scrunches, "I mean-- uh, what?"
Yep, she managed to lose herself in her own objections!
It was probably a decent distraction from the stress of the stupid clock, anyway. Until all the spooky things began to happen again! "Didn't know Bakemon had feet," the red-eyed girl uttered. Then again, she'd never really looked under a Bakemon to confirm if they were completely footless! Who would think to?
At least this wouldn't be too difficult of a battle. Elsie didn't really want to be here any longer than necessary, and it didn't feel like there were many options for progressing, short of abandoning the spirits entirely. "Do you think I can get extra marshmallows for the hot cocoa?"
Marshmallows could fix anything.
So, Elsie would still follow the brunette, while Evie kept pace with the newly-dubbed 'eldest sister.' With indiscernible pictures on the walls, it didn't seem like there was much to brag about here, unfortunately. There was a pang of almost-sadness that hit the twins as the proceeded toward the large chairs. This place hadn't aged well. "I wonder how many people it would take, to repair this place?" the green eyed sibling inquired, slowly.
And then, she squinted, and scrunched her nose.
Evie didn't care, in the slightest, about repairing a place like this. Preservation of a dilapidated structure seemed pretty pointless! Any purpose this place had served was long gone! And it was pretty inconveniently placed, under literal tons of snow, at that.
Oh well. That wasn't important right now.
At the thrones, Evie began to reach to run a finger over the dust on the seat, only to stop midway, crinkling her nose again, before shaking her head and retracting her hand. To this, her sister had to chime in with, "pretty gross, huh?" from the safety of behind-Amy. And, of course, received a nod from her sibling, who was relieved she stopped herself from being dusty for the rest of her life.
Once there, it was pretty obvious where they'd felt the breeze coming from! The tattered curtain behind the chairs rippled as air forced its way through it, and into the room. Had the wall collapsed behind it? Was it a way out?
"ᴬʳᵉ ʸᵒᵘ ˢᵘʳᵉ ᵗʰⁱˢ ʷⁱˡˡ ʷᵒʳᵏ?"
Just as Evie's fingers had wrapped around the edge of the curtain, a voice carried from behind the fabric. It sounded hushed, and strangely far away, despite being crystal clear.
"ᵂᵒⁿ'ᵗ ᵇᵉ ᵒᵘʳ ᵖʳᵒᵇˡᵉᵐ ᶠᵒʳ ˡᵒⁿᵍ ⁱᶠ ⁱᵗ ᵈᵒᵉˢⁿ'ᵗ."
The blonde's fingers tightened on the curtain, looking to Amy. Would she give any indicator on how she felt about pulling the curtain open? Did she still think there were just cowardly Bakemon roaming the castle?

Those words had more or less prompted the reaction Amy had expected from them. Despite the brunette supposedly being the more mature out of the three, that didn’t mean she wouldn’t respond being teased by… teasing in return, obviously! Apparently, she had hit the nail in the head, at least regarding how to tentatively press Evie’s buttons. That was a success!
“Of course I was careful with those words.” The smirk in her face couldn’t be more evident, even if she tried to. “But I guess it makes sense. I think that, if anything were to happen to me, you’d be both the most capable and better qualified person to take up where I left off. Hope that’s not too much pressure!” How did a round of teasing turn into a compliment of sorts? It was hard to say, and even though it wasn’t the best situation for it, the fact that the brunette hadn’t been as her highest as of late probably meant that designating a successor —or a second-in-command, at the very least— was something that just needed to be done at some point. And better for it to be sooner rather than later.
“What do you say, up for the task?” Getting a positive or a negative response was mostly inconsequential to the situation at hand. In the end, the trio would end up talking about the best way to celebrate finally getting to acquire all their spirits; obviously, the ideas were what you’d expect from a small group of civilized young ladies, right?
“Very well then. Plan’s set! Once we’re done with the spirit deal, we’ll go on a vacation to a luxury beach resort. Just the three of us. At least fifteen days. Enemy ashes optional, but highly preferred. Barbecue guaranteed. Sounds pretty good, doesn’t it?”
Pretty great, if Amy said so herself. Those plans wouldn’t have an overly long life, thanks to Amy’s teasing being a bit on the merciless side. Poor Elsie, now it was her turn to be subject to it, even though she did most of it to herself. Not the brunette’s fault that the wild-haired twin was obviously acting on tsundere urges! For now, the young woman just knew she’d probably have to watch her back at all times, lest the twins decide to get back at her when she least expected it.
For the time being, however, it was probably for the best to just focus on the task at hand. Elsie asked a very pertinent question, to which Amy… remained silent for a bit. “Maybe some do. If they’re able to grow those hideous claws out of nothing, maybe they can grow feet as well, y’know? Wouldn’t be surprised.” What about the cocoa? A swift nod was the immediate response to it. “You can get all the marshmallows you want tho. You earned them.”
In the end, the trio approached the two throne-like chairs; while the twins fought with their almost-sadness, Amelie herself would have to fight something a lot more… concrete, to call it someway. Briefly, a surreal visage of this same room invaded her mind, but not in the way a human was supposed to experience it. It was over in an instant, but she felt like her five senses had been violated and briefly replaced by her spirit forms’. And, to say the least? Experimenting the world like them as a human was… not the most pleasant thing. The brunette felt her head spin, even though she did her best to rein herself. If any of the twins paid attention to her, they’d also notice that she was sweating somewhat profusely. Flip side, at the very least? She had a decent idea of how this place looked before being victim to the ravages of time.
Why though? Why was this place associated with her spirit forms? That was probably something she’d have to find out later. “Honestly?” Even though Amy tried to sound calm, it wasn’t hard to tell her voice was strained. “It might be easier to topple this one and rebuild a castle from a scratch. Place’s pretty much ruined.”
Some things were just harder to salvage than to rebuild, after all. “But if we use the same DexDorugamons that did most of Deeplane’s work, this should be ready in less than a year, me thinks? Assuming no delays and the pack being properly directed.”
Place was positively a ruin, as the group had found out over and over again. A second nod accompanied Evie’s own before… some wind began to blow from behind the curtain? Was that the way outside? Sure, it was accompanied by a set of voices that probably were up to not good, but considering the brunette’s current state, clarity of mind wasn’t guaranteed, and it definitely didn’t manage to take precedence over just abandoning this place.
However… She first brought out her D-Tector and pointed at it, as if asking the twins if their digivices pointed in that way. In case they did? She’d even help Evie to pull the curtain herself.
Bakemon or no Bakemon, chances are that they’d have to face them if they wanted to reach an exit.

The ultimate pouting levels of Evie depleted relatively quickly, at implication that the twins had some sort of trust put into them to take over in some weird Amy-less situation. "We don't believe in pressure!" Elsie was quick to assure.
Immediately followed with, "though, we're sure you won't be going anywhere, any time soon." Or, would she? It was a bit odd to mention anything, unless the thought had crossed Amy's mind, right? "But as long as you're fine with an elderly person watching over things, I'm sure I can handle everything just fine." It was true! Evie was probably a pretty decent leader, in case of emergency! Granted, one had to hope no emergency would come about any time soon.
At least it would lead into a much more celebratory event. Barbecues and murder! Or, really, barbecues after murder. Ashes couldn't really be provided prior to murder. Or, could they? The screaming didn't seem like a desirable addition to a celebration, honestly. Scrap that idea. "It's a plan!" Would anyone actually bring ashes? Time would tell!
For now, Elsie would just have to cling to those plans (and Amy) until they were clear of this creepy place! While she still wasn't convinced Bakemon could grow feet, she would slowly nod to the marshmallows. "I earned them," she repeated, quietly. It was surely her new mantra, to force herself through the rest of this horrible adventure. Who would have thought that ghosts of all things were what would get under Elsie's skin?
Maybe Amy needed marshmallows, too, though. Having become the clingiest creature in the Digital World, Elsie would easily be the first to notice a sudden change in the brunette. While Evie hadn't been watching the brunette, attention immediate turned to her, hearing the scaredy twin quietly inquire, "you doin' okay?" to the now-sweaty team leader. Maybe they could dust off one of the chairs, and let Amy take a seat for a minute. It looked like she might need to! "What's up?"
As long as Amy didn't seem like she was in dire need of a sit, Evie seemed keen on pressing on, though. Maybe, the oldest spirit user needed some fresh air. At this point, it was starting to feel like they all did. Even if it was tundra-air.
"I wonder if the work would be worth it," Evie mulled, after Amy's assessment. The brunette probably wasn't wrong. This place was a wreck. Though, there probably wasn't much point in a castle like this, these days, anyway. Unless Deeplane wanted a spare home in the middle of frigid nowhere. It was certainly too much space for Elsie and Evie to need on their own, wasn't it? "What do you think?" Was this Eve's attempt at distracting Amy from whatever had distressed her? Probably.
They'd probably have a chance later to think on the subject, if Amy wasn't in the mood to continue the topic, however. For now, there were voices behind a curtain, and a chilling wind that implied potential freedom. Silently, the prim and proper twin lifted her digivice, revealing an arrow that continued to spin, only occasionally stopping to point in the direction of the drapes. For now, it seemed like it was the closest to an answer that anyone would get. Taking a deep breath, Evie allowed Amy's assistance on pulling the drape.
Perhaps, in a final attempt to spook both of them, the curtain popped! off the wall, with threat of landing on the girls! With a sharp inhale, Evie flailed her hands to keep the dust-ridden sheet off her face, before letting it drop to the ground. This place was such a mess!
Lucky for Elsie, not helping saved her from the viciousness of dustbunnies.
Another lucky thing: no Bakemon! In fact no... anything!
There was just a dark corridor. A faint light at the end gave enough illumination to reveal that nothing was standing in it, at least. Unless these Bakemon were super stealthy! Evie would be the first to step into the corridor, peeking back to make sure that Amy had fought off the curtain and that she and her sister were following.
"ʸᵒᵘ ᶜᵉʳᵗᵃⁱⁿˡʸ ʰᵃᵛᵉ ᵃ ʷᵃʸ ʷⁱᵗʰ ʷᵒʳᵈˢ."
The conversation between disembodied entities continued, reverberating off the empty walls.
"ᴵ ᵗʳʸ."
Still, whoever the beings were, they certainly didn't seem bothered by the intruders to their castle. In fact, they sounded fairly oblivious!
"I freakin' hate this," Elsie hissed. Just like she hated everything about this place! Ghosts, monsters, whatever was going on, it was just terrible!
Yet, overall, uneventful. Beyond voices bouncing off tin-can walls, nothing was actually dangerous, it seemed. And, the breeze was getting a little more obvious with each step. Surely, that meant they were getting closer to some way out of this place!
Just as the group would reach the opening to the new room, the voices would begin their chatter again. Just as Evie's foot hit the ice that composed the new floor.
"ʸᵒᵘ ᵏⁿᵒʷ ᵗʰⁱˢ ⁱˢ ᵗʰᵉ ᵉⁿᵈ, ʳⁱᵍʰᵗ?"
Another sharp gasp, while the twin slid, trying to avoid from falling. Hurrying out from behind Amy, Elsie managed to grab her sister, still leaning out from the safety of the corridor flooring, before anyone could come crashing down.
"ᴱʰ."
Everyone could almost feel the second voice shrug. But after that moment? The bodyless duo's conversation dropped again.
"Floor's slippery!" Evie warned, far too late.
"No shit," Elsie responded, with a groan.
For a second, the green eyed twin pinched the bridge of her nose, resisting a wave of dizziness. What a rush! "I suppose it's a good thing we didn't go high-heel shopping before our trip," Evie chimed, trying to make light of the situation. And, throwing a glance to Amy's shoes. Hopefully, they weren't very slippy. Evie, herself, was suddenly wishing she had worn a pair of boots with better tread.
"All good?"
Once a nod was given, the twins held hands as Evie took another step onto the ice -- this time, far more prepared. And, once she was sure that she was stable, she let go. With a half-walk-half-shuffle, the blonde peered around the room. It was very open! And... very empty! Meanwhile, her sister would wait to see if Amy needed extra stability getting onto the ice, too, before joining this rink-of-inevitable-doom. After all, someone had to fall down and bruise their butt eventually, right?
They so needed ice skates for this! Why was the ice buffed to slippery perfection, anyway? Nobody was maintaining this place!
Either way, the goal was more than clear once anyone entered the room. On the opposing wall, another corridor exposed the room to bitter winds -- almost definitely an exit -- and to the right of them? Two pedestals sat, with small, glass urns perched on each. One, glowing a faded blue, while the other dingy red. And a few feet further, a glass wall, frosted over and clearly not maintained in a manner remotely similar to the floor. As if whatever might be behind it was meant to be forgotten.
Slowly, Evie began to scuffle her way toward the blue urn, after consulting her digivice. "Looks like we found them!" Finally! It only took aimlessly wandering and looting the majority of a castle! Jeez! "Are you both excited to get out of here, after this?"
Perhaps having gained courage from 'saving' her sister from falling on her butt, Elsie slid right past her own totem, to the frosted glass, using the tail of a scarf to begin vigorously rubbing a circle onto it to try to peek further. "This spot isn't too spooky. I bet it'd have been cooler if the whole castle was made of ice!" Did ice ward off ghosts in Elsie's mind, or something? Either way, that would have been pure terror to try to navigate. Especially down staircases!
"No, please," Evie replied, while steadying herself with the pedestal before reaching for her totem. "I prefer not having to defrost my books."
Not that they belonged to Evie, to begin with!
At least this had to mean that their adventure was coming to an end soon, right? Hot cocoa was almost in sight! They just had to load the totems, and hopefully get their butts slid over to the second corridor and off to frozen freedom!
As Evie's fingers rested on the top of her urn, she pursed her lips, weight washing over her. "Hey, Amy," the blonde started, speech falling just a little too slow to be considered 'casually.' Trying to brush off the sudden wave of dread, that clearly hadn't affected her younger twin in the slightest, the green eyed girl remained with her hand just sitting on the totem. Surely, the feeling would pass if she just gave it a second.
Elsie's efforts to see into the other room slowed, matching more to the speed of her sibling's speech. Red eyes glanced back to check on her sister, squinting for a second, only to return to the circle that she was successfully clearing on the glass.
"I don't think I've asked; what level is your most powerful spirit?"

It was a good thing that both twins seemed, at least on their own way, up to a task that’d impact their lives to such a great degree, as unlikely as it was.
“I’m not.” She remarked, matter-of-factly. “But, preparing for the worst case scenario never hurts, does it? I’d be a bit sad if everything I’ve strived towards just disappeared from one moment to the next just because I happened to disappear for whatever reason and I hadn’t prepared for such an outcome.”
She mustered a small smile at Evie’s ultimate answer; it wasn’t precisely hard to tell that Amy was pleased at it. “Sure I am. I probably couldn’t have chosen anyone better to take care of things.” That was either a very convincing lie, or the brunette was being complete transparent with her opinion. “Makes me feel a little more at ease, not gonna lie.”
All in all, the atmosphere seemed to have improved, even if by a small bit. With any luck, that would decrease the creepiness, even if by a little bit. “Already looking forward to it. We’re gonna have so much fun!”
Had Elsie’s disposition improved, however? It was hard to tell, but nobody could say that Amelie hadn’t tried. It was too a good thing that the attempt had been made before the unpleasant events at the throne room unfolded. Her response? It was hard to tell at first at least; despite her attempts at voicing that she was fine, it looked like she had lost momentarily the ability to speak. In hindsight, it made sense to the brunette, even if not precisely for the right reasons.
After several seconds that felt like a lot longer than that, the young woman finally found her voice. “Yes. I’m fine.” That statement was belied by her tone, but hopefully things would be left at that. “It’s nothing. Don’t worry, Els.”
Concerning them with dubious imagery and sudden visions was probably an unnecessary hurdle in a situation like this, especially since Evie seemed super keen on advancing. And honestly? Amy herself already wanted to get the hell out of this place.
A measure of a distraction was provided by the prim and proper twin’s following question. Would reconstructing this place be worth it? Amy was pensive for some seconds; that was an interesting question. “It might be, honestly? Having a hub near Ys might prove to come in handy into the future if the whole alliance thing with KIZNA works out. Like a summer house, except… amid a frozen tundra. Wouldn’t want to remain in Ys’ embassy every time I get to visit, anyway. Besides.” She made a small pause after that; for some reason, she seemed a bit self-conscious right now. “Asher displayed some interest in the organization, and while I don’t know if he’ll go through with the whole joining process, having some… privacy while visiting would be nice, y’know?”
Evie would totally catch her drift. Elsie? Maybe, maybe not; nonetheless, that was probably more than what the blonde expected as a response. Maybe even in the ‘too much information’ territory! “What do you think?”
One of the many negatives this place had, however, was the fact it seemed pretty adept at wanting to play games with them, which was something the brunette… wasn’t precisely a fan of, mind you.
It was a good thing that the older twin had reacted fast enough for the of the group to have an easier time avoiding the curtain, even though a puzzled glance followed its fall into the floor. The owners of those voices’ identities was still a puzzle, and quite a vexing one while at it.
“A corridor?” Amy remarked, her voice possessing a quota of bewilderment. “At least it seems we’re on our way to get out of this place.” That statement was mainly directed at the red-eyed twin, considering that she was pretty much fed up with this whole deal.
“Everyone’s doing okay, right?” Thanks to Elsie’s timely save, it seemed like it. “Looks like we’ll have to try and not slip through the ice. Not like we’d wear high heels in the Digital World’s freakin’ equivalent of the north pole, though.”
That was her attempt at lightening the mood a bit as they advanced; with any luck, everything would be over fairly soon. If anything, the appearance of the pedestals with the glass urns would be an indicator that, if those weren’t the totems, at the very least they’d be a good indicator of where those were.
A satisfied expression took over Amy’s features once the green-eyed twin confirmed that, indeed, they were where they needed to be. “For sure.” She responded to Evie. “I’m already craving some hot chocolate.”
However… it seemed like something was amiss; at least judging from the prim and proper twin’s voice, Amelie was beginning to think it was. That tone wasn’t something she heard every time, and considering their whole journey through this castle, saying that she could tell when somebody’s tone was strained. She hummed in affirmation at her name being called before pondering the contextually strange question that came her way. What could be happening?
“Super Mega.” Wait, that was wrong, she shook her head before correcting herself. “Sorry, that was a slip. I meant Mega.” While she would’ve dwelled on that faux pas for longer if the situation was different, she was intrigued now. “Why do you ask? Any reason for it?”
Being a somewhat personal question, Amy wasn’t sure on what to think, or if it was opportune to return the question back at her. Maybe she’d respond on her own? It was hard to guess.

It felt a little weird that Amy had suddenly decided to need a successor of sorts, but neither twin decided to push much further on the subject. After all, the brunette seemed pretty sullen today, and sometimes people thought about these sorts of things, in those sorts of moods! As long as it didn't devolve into the older girl doing anything particularly drastic, surely all would be fine! Or, at least, that's what the siblings would tell themselves.
"Sounds like you're a worrywart," Evie hummed, trying to prevent the entire thing from making the mood drop to abysmal levels. Beyond that, the topic could easily fall off to something more light-hearted.
Like murderous barbecues and hot chocolate! Not simultaneously, of course! That sounded like too many things happening at once, otherwise!
Granted, those too would be cut short, from events that transpired and had seemed to distress the team-leader. Elsie would scrunch her eyebrows for a moment, at the reassurance, before mumbling an, "alright," and leaving it at that. A small, questioning hum from the green eyed twin would be plenty indicator that she wasn't quite convinced either. But, again, neither would press the subject. If Amy wanted to say something, she'd say it without them nagging her on it. There was no point to force anything, otherwise! Unless it was an emergency, that was!
Just like the state of this castle was a bit of an emergency! Listening to Amy's reasoning for wanting to fix up the place, Evie took another look around the place. "I guess it could have its benefits." Placing her hand over her mouth to conceal a smile, she'd add, "we would need to make sure the walls are thick, before you sleep here, though."
"Yeah, I wouldn't want to sleep here and have the snow break through the ceiling."
Well, the assumption was right. This portion of the conversation was going right over her head!
It was probably for the best, anyway. They could continue on without a new subject for Elsie to 'distress' over. "I can't wait for hot cocoa," the red-eyed girl would whisper, as soon as the corridor was revealed and acknowledged. "It's so close, I can almost taste it." Except, right now, she could only really taste dust. It would be fine. Hot cocoa would wash that taste right out!
And it would be especially fine since nobody had died by slipping on ice! "Ya mean, we wouldn't wear brand new heels into the snow, for the sake of fashion?" Keep the joking rolling! At least with Elsie giving a response like that, it was a sign that maybe she was a little less obnoxiously-terrified of being haunted now!
"Hot chocolate's gonna be so good," Elsie stated, with the first real smile she'd probably given since they'd entered the building.
Evie's fingers would tap upon the top of the blue urn, definitely disrespecting the dead if anything was inside of it. "I don't think ours are that strong," she commented, trying to speed her words to rectify the previous oddity in tone. "But I think mine flies." Could someone infer that, just from touching the totem?
There was an excited squeak from Elsie, peeling her eyes away from the glass again, "I hope mine flies!"
"And I, sincerely, hope not."
"Mean," the red-eyed twin huffed, pressing her hands between her face and the glass as if they were binoculars.
"That said," the straight-haired sibling drew out, head turning to speak to Amy, "I think we should hurry. Do you want to move toward the exit, over there?" With a gesture toward the corridor on the opposing side from where they'd entered, she'd look back to her twin. "Elsie, will you come get yours? Your face will freeze to the wall, if you stay over there."
With a scrunch of her face, Elsie puffed her cheeks and looked at the twin. "It will not!" For another second, she'd stop to look at Amy for confirmation. Her entire face couldn't actually freeze to glass, right? "I think there's another one of these, uh," there was a wide gesture at one of the pedestals, "table thingies on the other side." Slowly, she'd shuffle her way from the glass, and toward the red urn, "what if it has a cool secret treasure for us? For dealin' with the ghosts 'n' stuff?"
Lips pressed tightly for a minute, with Evie's fingers still tapping away at the urn's lid, "it doesn't." With one of those tones that erred on sarcasm, and another glance toward Elsie's totem, the blonde pressed her hands around the neck of her urn.
The wild-haired twin finally dragged herself to her totem, heavily dropping her hands on top of the item. Unenthused pout froze, before looking down in clear discomfort. "Oh."
"Yep."
Red eyes shifted to look at the brunette in the room, as if making sure she'd listened to the other twin's request of beginning toward the exit. "Should we like-"
"Nope."
"Think it's gonna-"
"Maybe!"
What had started as understanding tone, in cutting off whatever Elsie wanted to ask, had quickly turned back to impatience.
"Grab 'n' run?"
"Grab, don't fall, run."
Hopefully, Amy could get where this was going. She was a pretty smart cookie, after all! If she hadn't worked her way to the other corridor yet, it was very likely that she was going to have to follow the 'run' portion of these instructions too!
With Elsie wrapping her own fingers around the urn, the twins stared at one another for a second, simultaneously lifting as one of the voices cut through the air.
"Dₒₙ'ₜ!"
Not that anybody was going to listen to advice from disembodied voices!
It seemed unanimous that the girls were waiting to actually use the totems later, for now opting to push off from the pillars that once held them, and use that as momentum to scurry toward the corridor. With good timing, it seemed.
A grinding sound clawed through the ice, starting at each pedestal, and creating a spiderweb of cracks as the flooring's integrity began to give way. Both twins did their best to make it to the solid-floored corridor, only once-there checking on Amy's status. Hopefully, no rescue missions were necessary!
As pieces of the floor began to fully shatter, ice would fall into a void below the room, deep enough to seemingly have no bottom. Surely, an infinite fall was impossible, but neither twin cared to make the trip down to see where it stopped! With any luck, Amy would agree with that sentiment!
If crumbling floors hadn't been enough of a motivator to hurry, a heavy wheeze came from the hidden side of the glass that Elsie had been peering into previously. And then? A high-pitched shriek, quickly followed by the glass beginning to grow its own branches of cracks. Bangs echoed through the chamber, as the mystery creature tried to force its way through.
That said, whatever was on the other side hadn't succeeded yet. And, hopefully, would not before the group could make their way down the frosty corridor to freedom! "So not a treasure for me," Elsie uttered, sadly. There was a heavy suspicion that, in fact, nobody wanted whatever that treasure was! It sounded extremely angry! "Guess my only treasure is marshmallows." Considering the alternative 'treasure,' marshmallows sounded like a pretty good trade! Hopefully, the girls' partner-in-exploration would agree!

“I might be, not gonna lie.” A small smile was good enough at conveying that Amelie had actually found that comment somewhat funny. “Responsibilities make you like that, y’know? Maybe I need a vacation at some~ point. Maybe that’s why I was in a hurry to get a successor, even. Just to get somebody to do all my paperwork while I sunbathe in Whitewater for a month or something.”
Existing in Deeplane for prolonged periods of time sure made wonders at keeping your skin milky white, that was for sure! On a good day, you might even mistake the brunette for an apparition! Okay, maybe that was a bit of an exaggeration.
It was honestly weird how the atmosphere was good at shifting from lighthearted and dreadful; those exchanges were comparatively short-lived, even though they —somehow— always managed to reemerge. It was an interesting dynamic, to say the least.
“Yes, indeed. Snow breaking through the ceiling would be nothing short of disastrous. Good thinking, Els.” Amy herself was fighting hard to both not sound like a smartass while replying and to not snicker at those words. A rather tall task, but one at which she succeeded, even if barely.
“I really could use some hot cocoa as well. With at least three marshmallows.” Could anyone really harness that much power? It was hard to tell. “We should be out of this place fairly soon, though. Just a little~ more.”
Similarly, the topic of heels was equally humorous, yet definitely not something she was precisely excited to try out at the moment. “You can definitely do that, and with my full encouragement, to boot! I’ll stick to winter footwear for the time being, but thanks for the offering.”
Ultimately, and even despite the diverse nature of the perils the group faced, it seemed that they had emerged victorious —if their current status could even be called that—. “I hope both of you can fly at some point. Feels nice.” the brunette mediated. And, in all honesty, it was true! It was an oddly liberating feeling. “We could even go fly somewhere after doing whatever you do with high heels…? You know what I mean.”
A small nod was given to Evie, just as Amy proceeded to move towards the exit. Good precautions to have in a situation like this one, all things considered. Only then, she shrugged at Elsie as response regarding her inquiry towards getting her face frozen. She wasn’t really an expert at sub-zero temperatures, and wasn’t really keen on testing that theory out!
It was a good that Eve’s advice had been heed, given how the ice that gave them footing began to collapse, revealing a seemingly endless fall. Not a place anyone looked forward to visit at the moment, right? “Girls. I think you should hurry!” That was a bit of a cheeky comment, but only made from the position of somebody who was pretty near the exit. “That cocoa ain’t gonna drink itself, you know!?”
Once everyone was clearly out of harm’s way, there were a few avenues for the trio to gain complete freedom. One was for Amy to just get her car out; digivolving wass another option… or whatever the twins had in mind. Chances were the brunette would be pretty compliant with it nonetheless.
Could it be that their small adventure was drawing to an end after such an odyssey? Hard to say, but if there was, it would hopefully not involve any violent digimons!

You know how tan you'd get if you sunbathed for like a whole month?" Would "tan" even be a suiting term for it at that point? "I bet you burn more than tan, anyway." Amy should count her lucky stars that Elsie made no reference of lobsters. God forbid there be any flashbacks to a certain redhead taunting her!
Not that either twin had much room to talk. They obviously hadn't been tanning, either!
Dense as ever, the red-eyed twin gave an affirmative nod as their conversation progressed through to snowy cave-ins. "Right?" Best concern! And absolutely no other reasons. And Evie wasn't going to tell anyone otherwise!
Luckily, Amelie's prediction of only needing to take a little longer on their escape of this castle was pretty correct! And then? They would have all the marshmallows! Or, as many as one could have while still putting liquid in the mugs. Which wasn't nearly enough in Elsie's opinion. But, they'd have to make do!
For now, no flying would take place, however. "I bet I can outfly Evie."
"Unlikely," the previously quiet twin chimed. "I have practice, unlike some." Ah, yes. Witchmon was a little more flight-worthy than Matadormon, wasn't she? Stupid knife fingers. Couldn't even fly.
"Flying after high heels would totally work, though!" Elsie nodded, rapidly, "like, if your feet start hurting, you just fly, you know?"
It was flawless logic, truly. Just like everything that came out of Els's mouth!
Luckily, everyone seemed on the same page about leaving the second the totems were swiped. With Amy having humored Evie's concerns, it made it much easier to flee after extracting! Even though, perhaps, with Amy's 'cheering,' second thoughts were being had! They totally should have made her run across breaking ice too! Luckily, the dissolution of the floor was slow and progressive, rather than all at once. Otherwise, it may have ended much differently! The second Evie's foot hit solid ground, she spun and reached out to yank Elsie off the remaining foot of ice.
"You," Elsie uttered with a huff at Amy, "are so not encouraging." At least she could say she tried! Even if it may have been more taunting than truly helpful! "I can fly, though! Kinda."
To which, Evie shot a concerned glance at Amy. Then, slowly shifted eyes back to her sister. "I," she paused, formulating her sentence, "really do not think you should be able to."
If only Amy knew that the form was basically a spider. Surely she would agree that arachnids should not have flight capabilities! And if not, Evie would have to decide to throw away both her sister and the team's leader. It was the only proper solution.
Just as the group would reach the mouth of the corridor, which opened to the chilly air of the Northern Prominence, they would hear a final wail of the presence behind the glass, along with a heavy crumbling of foundation or dirt. Perhaps a little too conveniently, the corridor seemed to have caved in, preventing them from returning to the bottomless room. Which was for the best, really. Who wanted to go back there, anyway?
"Are you okay with driving?" Evie piped up, after another moment of assessing the crumbled earth. Looking to Amy, the blonde gave a little shrug. "It would probably be faster than flying. And you don't want to see that thing," she gave a small gesture toward a now-huffing Elsie, "fly." Such a nice sister! So supportive and caring!
"Whatever. I just want cocoa," the wild-haired sibling grumbled, crossing her arms in front of her chest.
And hot cocoa, they would get! After a warm ride in a flying car, that was!

Sometimes I wonder if my emotions are dead but this hunt brought a smile to my face.
