"Why are we here again?" Kieran Doyle asked, beginning to get frustrated by the antics of his elder brother. While ordinarily he enjoyed journeys to Miyashita Park, mainly to appreciate the small sliver of nature that one could find in the Shibuya district of Tokyo. But this time around, since Aidan had asked him to accompany him here to look for "something", he was fast growing bored and frustrated, thinking of all the other things he could be doing.
"Because, Kieran, something happened here that was covered up." Aidan replied, impatiently. "You and I saw it with our own eyes, back in the Golden Week. Those monsters appeared on the TV live feed. Yet the next day? Nothing was followed up. No acknowledgement in the online or print news, nothing on the TV news, yet we saw things go down here."
"Yeah, but... didn't they say that what appeared here was holograms?" Kieran asked, a little unsure now. Aidan looked at his brother and shook his head.
"No. I might only be a rookie cop, Kieran, but, I know a dangerous situation when I see one. I saw the terror on peoples' faces here. Something big did happen. And now that both of us finally have a day off, I want to investigate for any clues. And since you're talented at finding things that are out of place, that's why I wanted you to come too."
Kieran sighed with resignation. He supposed that given he was quite fond of his elder brother, he might as well help him in whatever he was trying to find here. So far though, he had found nothing out of place, other than some pieces of trash.
After about an hour, he wanted to just go back home and stop wasting his time. And was just about to say so to Aidan when he saw that his brother was approaching something cautiously, with deliberately careful moves. Kieran frowned and approached him.
"What's that you've found?" he asked.
"Kieran, quiet..." Aidan replied, approaching something in the garden area. He pulled his cellphone from his pocket in order to take pictures of the object he had found - a strange little marble of digital energy surrounded by scorch marks. He tried to take a picture, but his cellphone burst into garble, seemingly malfunctioning. "Dammit!" he snapped. "Kieran, you have a newer model, can you take a picture of this?"
"Um... sure..." Kieran answered, so unsettled by the object that his natural curiosity did indeed want to take a picture of this thing. But when he did so, his cellphone got fried as well. "...oh crap." he hissed with anger. But then both he and Aidan's eyes widened when they saw what happened next. The object had changed... it was growing. From what was a simple blue-green glowing marble was now a giant sphere. And they felt themselves being drawn toward it.
"S-shit!" Aidan swore. "Kieran! Grab my hand!" he told his brother. Kieran did so, but it was of little use. The two young men were drawn into the glowing green portal helplessly. What they saw next was a flash of green-white light, then, both felt themselves falling onto the ground somewhere, the dull pain ripping them back into existence.
Fortunately they weren't badly hurt. They were able to get back to their feet, and as their blurred vision sharpened back to normal, they took in their surroundings. They were now in a thick forest. But no civilization was in sight.
"W-where is this?!" Kieran asked Aidan, hoping his elder brother might have answers here. Aidan shook his head though, he was just as confused.
"This isn't Shibuya..." was his only answer. Kieran made an annoyed grunt acknowledging the truth, but hating it all the same. His ears pricked as he heard a loud buzzing noise nearby, and growing louder. Both young men turned to see three enormous insects flying toward them. Two were yellow and black, with strange glowing appendages attached to wings, that barely kept their bulging thoraxes airborne - nasty looking stingers at the end of them. The third was a red wasp-like monster that was the size of a human. All three of these insects glared at the two with malice.
"Well well... more humans arrive in our forest..." the red creature said. "Well... we're not about to tolerate this, are we?"
The two yellow creatures made clicking noises of affirmation, the three of them looking like they were about to attack.
"Kieran! Run!" Aidan told his younger brother, standing in front of him defensively, glaring down these monsters.
"N-no!" Kieran replied, not wanting to abandon Aidan to this. As far as he knew, they had somehow been transported to this place, and were now accosted by hostiles. He didn't want to abandon his only brother to this fate. Aidan scowled, but respected this decision.
Then, all quite suddenly, they were joined by two further monsters. One was a blue lizard like creature with a white muzzle and belly, wearing a red tunic with a brown jacket. The other was a red lizard like creature with a white underside, wearing a green and grey tunic. Both of them were growling.
"You three are bandits that are trespassing on the Town of Rosewood!" the blue lizard declared. "Leave our lands now... or face the consequences!"
"Yeah! We'll bust you up good!" the red lizard added. Aidan and Kieran didn't know what to say here, but, were glad of the backup nonetheless.

Post by Kenny O'Hara and Skadi on Oct 21, 2019 12:16:50 GMT
There was something oddly charming about Rosewood that always kept drawing Kenny and Skadi back to that place, whenever it be the calm, friendly atmosphere, the colourful variety of Digimon who called the town home, or the sheer growing variety of things to do there, who knew? Who cared? Having just gotten off the Rosewood Station Trailmon, the duo were currently making their way towards the town for a nice visit, and probably some lunch. But as they walked along, they could hear a loud thump nearby, making them stop in place for a brief moment. "Wait, what was that?" Kenny exclaimed, his heart pounding a little faster from the sudden noise, as the both of them momentarily looked around for the cause, and possibly the perpetrator, in question. They didn't have to look for long, however; Skadi had noticed something particular, grabbing Kenny's attention by tugging at one of his pant legs, "Hey Kenny! I think I know who caused it!" She replied, pointing in the general direction of a couple of unfamiliar humans, seemingly lost and dazed. That certainly did the trick, as Kenny also looked to where she pointed, quite confused. "Wait, humans? How did they get her-" Kenny's question would remain unanswered for now; rather, their attention was drawn to the arrival of 3 Digimon, consisting of a pair of Waspmon, lead by an aggressive Flybeemon in tow, almost immediately followed by the arrival of 2 other Digimon, the particularly not bug-like pair consisting of a Veemon and a Guilmon ready to defend the humans. The duo paused for a moment, before Skadi spoke up with a confident - and knowing - smile on her face as she looked towards Kenny, "I guess we should go give those 4 a little hand right about now?"
"Do I even need to answer that question at this point?" Kenny joked as he held up his D-Nexus. In a brief flash of light, Skadi would transform into her shiny, elegant SilverGrademon form, and held her Tamer in her arms, In the span of a moment, they would reach near where the fight would take place, hidden away from plain view. Just enough where neither would be caught so easily until it was all clear. "You stay right there, Kenny," Skadi told her Tamer, laying him on the ground, "I got a little surprise right up my sleeve for these guys." With a simple snap of her fingers, chains started to float up from the ground and climb up around the Flybeemon's feet, ready to tighten themselves around him and pull him down to the ground. She was ready to chip in in any ways she could. Skadi, having digivolved to SilverGrademon to help the 2 heroic Digimon, Roy and Rex, hides herself and Kenny in a bunch of trees, then uses Ethereal Chains to hold down Flybeemon and give the others an opening. Skadi gains a token from Buildup, gaining herself a token that boosts her attack to 10%. Ethereal Chains (RAM Upgrade): Skadi summons 2 pairs of ghostly chains silently rising from the ground to coil around the opponents feet (4 if the opponent has 4 feet, for flavor purposes only). Once trapped, they are bound for one turn, unable to move from the spot or turn around, but are still free to attack, just as long as the attack doesn't involve using their feet. Flying/airborne opponents will be pulled to the ground by the chains. Does not interfere with the Buildup passive. (2 post cooldown) Passives:Leaps and Bounds (Non-combat Passive): Skadi can leap very, very high. Meaning she can scalehouses and buildings with a single leap. She is also capable of parkour in this form, and is generally a very fast, very flexible creature.
Ethereal Being (Non-combat Passive): In this form, Skadi can change her form from solid to ethereal. This can allow her to pass through walls, and other solid objects. However, this does not automatically give her immunity from attacks, and she takes damage like any other Digimon.
Buildup (Passive): For every post that Skadi does not directly attack the opponent with an ability, she gains a token. This token increases her attack by 10%, up to a total count of 4 tokens. These tokens cannot be taken off by the opponent, nor can these boosts be reduced by any attacks or passives from any opponent. (For example, simply using her swords to parry the opponent or merely swinging her sword to attack will not affect Buildup. Using Dual Striker or Sliver Breaker does)
Keen Eye (Passive): Being a skilled swordswoman has it’s benefits. So that means that she gets a 1.3x boost to accuracy. This also allows her to see perfectly fine where she otherwise wouldn’t, including fog, smoke, and other weather conditions.
Voice of Old World (Divisional Passive): KIZNA assault team members are attuned to the land where they fought in. By using the link of their own data and the data of the land where they are, they could boost their resistance to certain degree. Elemental resistance up based on where the area of the thread happened East: Wood and Earth Resistance +20% Buffs/Nerfs: Buildup (10% Atk.): 1/4 tokens Cooldowns:Ethereal Chains: 0/2 (Need to see if effect is applied. Will be 1/2 next post if it doesn't work)

Walking out of Rosewood to its train terminal, another pair of human and Digimon was actually tried to head back home to the north, where Ys is located. The human is Koutarou, and the partner is Agito the Hawkmon. The two was something of an oddity, something between a veteran or not. Koutarou who has regained part of his memories obviously remembered some of what happened to him in this Digital World, but not to its entirety. With that being said, that experience had no bearing when Agito has reduced to only his child stage. Pity? Well so be it he guessed. It's funny how the first time he got Agito, then Hinomaru the Hyokomon, he was not excited the slightest. Slightly annoyed in fact. But now, he felt nothing is better than having the Hawkmon beside him.
"Waka, you looks content," Hinomaru pointed out.
"Am I? I guess I'm just ready too go on adventure again... but not until you reach adult stage, mister."
"Ah, there comes your over-cautiousness. but that's what I like about you."
And there comes something that made Agito perked up. "...The wind has changed, Waka."
"The wind?"
"It brings news of an arrival. I smelled real world faintly... and troubles. Trouble seems to follow soon after arrival. Should we go there?"
Koutarou already know the answer reallly. This bird might not be the same Hinomaru from the past, but he can't abandon someone in need.
"...Tend to them."
"At once!"
The two ran, ran and ran, toward the place. Of course because how out of shape he is, Koutarou panted as he finally arrived, but Agito on the other hand scanned the situation at hand. Two men, three hostiles, and two who are apparently Rosewood Town Guards... and Kenny and Skadi it looks like.
"...Hmn, fancy meeting you two here," Koutarou mused. Honestly, he wonder what he can do, a child stage in midst of adults and perfect... but eh.
Agito meanwhile already unsheathes his tachi. The Hawkmon scanned the situation before moving.

Roy and Rex knew they were outpowered and outclassed here. What chance did 2 rookie level digimon have against 3 champions? And their only backup... 2 humans. While they did look like particularly big and strong humans, they knew they wouldn't be able to stand up to the kind of punishment champion level digimon could deal upon them. But... still... something told the Veemon and Guilmon to stand firm here, to protect them. After all, Roy and Rex had sworn their lives to defend Rosewood. These humans were most likely new arrivals and had no idea what was going on here. That just made the brothers more determined to protect them.
Just before they were about to launch their attacks though, they were joined by two others. One was another human, about Aidan and Kieran's age. And the other was a shining silver knight digimon that was awe-inspiring, who took the lead of the battle. Roy and Rex backed off a few steps, awestruck.
The SilverGrademon responded to the ambush by launching chains from the ground that binded the Flybeemon. Aidan, Kieran, Roy and Rex could only watch with astonishment at all this.
Furthermore, they were joined by two more. Another young human, and another digimon. By now Aidan and Kieran were quite bewildered, but by now, Aidan's mind, now shaped by years of police tactical training, knew how to identify friend from foe.
"You there... you young men." he spoke to Kenny and Koutarou. "You seem to be familiar with this situation. What's going on?" he asked them.
"These digimon want to attack you, that's what!" Roy answered him. Aidan frowned, hoping for an answer from his fellow humans, but supposed in this situation he couldn't dispute the logic of that.
But then Flybeemon, now binded in the chains from Skadi, snarled his next command.
"Attack the humans!"
Aidan and Kieran gasped as the two unbounded Waspmon turned their attention to them and aimed their stingers at them, the stingers glowing with light. Again, Aidan moved to defend his little brother, but, then everything happened at once.
Roy and Rex stood in front of them, the two dragon digimon seeming like they were going to absorb the blow. Then in that moment, Aidan and Kieran noticed that the gadgets they held in their hands - their fried cellphones, had changed and become quite warm. They had transformed into completely new devices. And they seemed to be reacting from what was going on on the battlefield.
"NOW! ATTACK NOW!" the Flybeemon snarled, and both Waspmon launched a shower of stingers upon their prey, but not before Aidan and Kieran's devices activated, and shone blue and red light over the two dragon digimon in front of them.
"Veemon digivolve to... Veedramon!"
"Guilmon digivolve to... Growlmon!"
At once, the little dragons transformed into dragons bigger than the biggest humans. The Waspmons' stinger attacks bounced off their hides as they stood in front of the Doyle brothers. Fortunately, it was this display that made the Flybeemon bandit leader decide to end the fight. "...go away, retreat." he ordered the Waspmon, himself unable to leave because of Skadi's chains, speaking in a tone of defeat as though he expected to be finished off. The Waspmon did so.
After the remnants of their buzzing faded, Aidan and Kieran blinked, before the elder brother turned to the others present.
"So, uh, what just happened now?" he asked, curiously.

So the 2 lost humans actually managed to notice Kenny and Skadi, and needless to say, the SilverGrademon gave them a reassuring look to them as the chains wrapped around Flybeemon, all that was needed to tell them that they were going to be safe. But much to our main duo's (pleasant) surprise, Koutaro and Agito were back. "Oh. Hey. Glad to see you again, you guys. It's been a while." He smiled at them. Certainly there was quite the laundry list of things they needed to tell him once the situation settled down.
And frankly, could you blame the 2 mysterious men for being confused? But admittedly, Kenny was just as confused as they were on how they got here, but hey, best to be reassuring, "We'll explain in a minute. Right now, we're here to save you guys!" He told them, while Skadi nodded to reassure them
But before Skadi could jump in the way to save the humans and the Digimon from being possibly shish-kabobbed, and then... everything just happened so quickly, and all Kenny and Skadi could do was watch. First, out of what seemed like possibly thin air, they pulled out Digivices, yet never noticed it before. An odd pang of familiarity hit him, as when during the Arkadimon attack, his own old Digivice and D-Terminal just appeared out of nowhere, allowing Skadi to digivolve for the first time. And second, speaking of digivolution, the lizard Digimon had now grown to their Champion forms, and were now shrugging off the Waspmon's attack like it was nothing. All the while the human-sheep/goat duo could only watch in awe. Was this a new pair of Digidestined in the making?
With the Flybeemon now opting to retreat, and sending his cronies off, he would now find his own chains were now fading away, freeing him and allowing him to escape proper (after all, he did get the memo already). And once the coast was clear, Kenny and Skadi would approach them proper, the light shining over Skadi as she shrunk down back to her Valaismon form.
"Well, I'm honestly not sure myself how you guys got here, to tell you the truth." Kenny started to explain the best he could, "All we heard was a loud thumping noise on the floor, and then, we spotted you being attacked by a bunch of wild monsters, so we came to save your life. But then, your apparently shiny new devices activated, and they allowed your partners to transform into a more powerful form to take care of them for you." He tried to explain what just happened to the best of his ability, essentially filtering out his words not to mention terms exclusive to Digimon.
Skadi eyed the new strangers with a little sense of curiosity, "How did you guys actually manage to get here, anyways? Did you fall into the Shibuya river or something?"

"I'd like to explain to you, but now is sadly not the time," Koutarou answered. "Just know one in front of you are enemy."
Attacking the human, did he heard that right? Agito immediately saw red. Who cares that this is Adult stage or Perfect stage anymore? With a flap of his wings, he coated one of the human with a barrier made of wind. It won't do much against an adult stage attack for sure, but what of it? It's a protection. He followed it by quickly unsheathed his sword and grabbed it with his feet. "...Fools, thee are. How dareth thou to attempt to lay harm on weaker ones?"
Indignation is clear in his voice, and he already annoyed at the escaping cowards. "CRETINS! CRAVEN!" he spat at the escaping bandits.
"Agito, enough. At least the boss is captured,"
Well, this is complicated... As expected, Agito's samurai personality is still there... and they're lacking severely in power. Bravado alone wouldn't win that... drats. What to do...
"...So I assume you two are lost, misters?" Koutarou asked. "My coworker here definitely in the right track, but there are something he might be missing. If you don't mind me asking, what were you doing few moments ago? By the lack of wetness on your clothes, that means that you did not fall to Shibuya River, the primary 'accidental' gate to come here, the Digital World..." Koutarou deducted. "So does this means your computer swallowed you perhaps?"

Aidan and Kieran watched the chaos of the digimon battle unfold in front of them. Sure enough, the Waspmons managed to get away, but as the Flybeemon attempted to flee too, Rex and Roy quickly took the initiative. They leapt after him, and used their powerful bulk to grab him and slam him on the ground, the Veedramon and Growlmon easily able to subdue him.
"Your cronies may have escaped, but that doesn't change this situation, Flybeemon." Roy told him, angrily. "You attacked innocents within the vicinity of Rosewood. Furthermore you directed attacks onto humans. As Town Guards of Rosewood, we will not forgive that."
"We're taking you in." Rex added, in a similar angry growl. "You're under arrest. The only place you'll be going is the Rosewood prison, and there you'll await trial."
Aidan watched all this, growing increasingly impressed. Somehow these two monsters were acting like police officers, and he was at least glad they were following due process here. The Flybeemon did not resist. Now that his cronies had escaped, he was no match for a Perfect level and two Adult levels. He went limp as Rex held him down while Roy put restraints on his wings, legs and claws, rendering him helpless as they would bring him back to Rosewood to answer for his crimes.
Once that was settled, and Roy and Rex had the Flybeemon secured, Aidan and Kieran turned to the others for their answers. Kenny's answer had yet to make sense to them, but Skadi's answer, they could answer more quickly.
"What? The river? That little gutter? No, we weren't near that." Aidan replied. "We were in Miyashita Park inspecting the site of a phenomenon there that happened in Golden Week, then all of a sudden, this green portal appeared, pulled us in, and we ended up here."
This was pretty much the answer to Koutarou as well. "Yep. Not the river. Just something that happened in Miyashita Park." Kieran repeated. "Do you... maybe know what might have happened there?" he queried, hoping he might have some answers there.
Roy and Rex meanwhile where more transfixed with what Kenny said. "Partners...?" Rex repeated, looking at his brother. "So... Roy... we actually have human partners?"
"Seems like it." Roy answered, looking at the digivices that had propelled them to their Adult levels. "I'd never have thought it, but, seems that's how it is."
"Alright, let's take a step back here..." Aidan requested. "So... apparently you're saying we're partners? What does that mean exactly?"
Hopefully Kenny and Koutarou could answer that.

Wait, those 2 reptile Digimon in front of them were actually 'town guards of Rosewood'? Well, granted, Kenny did hear rumblings of a certain 'Roy and Rex' who called that town home due to his previous visits there, overhearing some of the residents mentioning them, and to see them in the flesh was actually quite neat, he had to admit. Unfortunately for the Flybeemon, neither ally Digimon would show no mercy to him, and he and Skadi could only watch with interest as the Veedramon and Growlmon duo captured the hapless bug without much trouble.
One could argue that it was a little unfair that 2 giant muscular dragons were easily trouncing a scrawny bug, but who was he to judge? As long as the other everyone else was safe, that's what mattered.
Regardless, it turned out the 2 newcomers were nowhere near the river, rather at... Miyashita Park? And they got hit with a portal to here out of nowhere? Thankfully, Koutarou asking about how they got here did yield fruit, as one of the boys pointed out they were at the park to investigate what happened there. Welp, that wasn't gonna be easy to explain to them, but hopefully Koutarou would clear the air for him. He could elaborate later.
Right now, his and Skadi's attention was on the 2 reptile Digimon, slowly coming to the realization they were now partnered with humans, and who could blame one of the newcomers for feeling confused? It was a whole lot to take in. He should know. He was there himself.
"Yeah, about that..." Kenny said, rubbing his arm a little. No use hiding it anymore, "You see, you've been chosen to become partners to Digimon. Digital Monsters. And that Veedramon and Growlmon are your partners, linked by that special gadget we call a Digivice. What happened was that your partners digivolved in response to protect you's two from those attackers, saving your lives in the process." Skadi nodded in turn to confirm it to them.
"Admittedly, I'm still a little in the dark about how it happens. I don't really know who 'chooses' the tamer and the Digimon, or how those Digivices appear. There seems to be this higher force in play that pairs humans to Digimon. I know it can be a little hard to swallow, but you have to trust us on this. That's all I really know, for now." Yeah, probably a little more hard to swallow now, but he had to work with what he had here.

Little gutter. That thing is anything but little with that thing. He swore that's probably enough to handle some huge flooding, but... With how loaded it is with trashes and whatnot, it's not an optimum place to even put a portal in it. It's basically, a blemish. God knows why the portal must be there of all place. Why can't it be like some well somewhere? Why it can't be like a computer club? Or even non suspicious looking store or Hikarigaoka?
God knows if there are answer to these, but either way, Koutarou need to explain.
"It's as my teammate here said..." Koutarou pulled out a Digivice from his pocket. It's a D-Nexus. "This is what you call a Digivice. I think you two would have one each on your person. It's something... like an electronic device that you never had prior. Your phone might suddenly morph into one, so please... make sure to check for your phone. As you might need replacement.
Secondly, yes, what you seen prior, and my partner here..." Koutarou pointed at Agito "are called Digimons. That's the name of their collectiveness, just like how you say 'animals'. They're as sentient as us all, except with the abilities to shoot... attacks that you won't normally find in any animals in our world. You can say it's part of their self defense ability, and their method to win fights.
That aside... Yes, we still have no idea what caused someone to be partnered, but generally a pattern exists. That is, they have to get in contact with Digimon. I assume that you guys had contact with one, or prying around in site of golden week is what caused you to get partnered... and your partners happened to be those two gentlemons right there.
...Yes, it's as you thought, what caused Golden Week event happened to be Digimon."

Aidan and Kieran took in Kenny's words in their own way. Aidan, the police officer, was somewhat confused with this whole process and took a while to digest it. Kieran, the zoologist in training, was more ready to accept it.
"So... you're my partner, eh, big guy?" he asked Rex, reaching up and patting the Growlmon's back. He couldn't help but smile, he felt something of a warm alligator. Rex responded positively in return, leaving it to Roy to secure the FlyBeemon while he turned attention to his new human partner.
"It sure looks that way from what I know." Rex said, gently patting Kieran with his paw, taking care not to scratch him with his claws. Kieran appreciated the gesture. While yes, his partner was a big bulky dinosaur, he felt comfortable from this level of gentleness, as well as his sentience.
Aidan meanwhile continued to listen to Skadi's addendum. Certainly it helped his mind settle on the situation, for which he was grateful to the beastlike digimon.
"Alright then, thank you for your explanation." Aidan said, coming to the conclusion that somehow he and his brother were 'chosen' by a higher power. While if he hadn't seen the events of Golden Week for himself, he wouldn't have believed it, fate had turned out that he did see those events, and those made his current situation easier to come to terms with.
With that, Aidan turned to Roy, who by now had made it so that the Flybeemon had no means of escape, and would be secured on the route back to Rosewood. The Veedramon looked back.
"So... you're quite bigger now than you were when we first met... a few minutes ago." Aidan pointed out. "While you do look pretty neat as you are... just asking, is there any way you and your brother might be able to revert to your smaller forms? Just... if we're meant to be partners, it'd be easier for you to live on Earth that way."
"Sure, we can, but if it's alright with you, we'd prefer to stay in these forms until we bring this perp into custody." Roy replied.
"Yes, of course, I understand." Aidan replied. It would be a very foolish policeman indeed to lower his guard while bringing the criminal into confinement.
Then Koutarou said something that drew their attention. Aidan and Kieran reached into their pockets for their phones... and couldn't find them. This wasn't so much a problem for Kieran, but for Aidan...
"Oh... SHIT!!! That was my work phone!!" he cried out with panic. "Oh god no... shit... if I lost that... oh no, they'll have my badge... I'll be fired... oh god... is... is there any way to get it back?!" he asked Koutarou desperately.
"Easy now, Aidan, relax, we can come up with a cover story, surely?" Kieran asked his elder brother cautiously. "Surely just losing your phone isn't an automatic blacklist, right?"
Roy and Rex watched this display in silence. Roy concluded that his partner was one that stuck to the rules, was a little highly strung, and didn't take trouble very well. Rex meanwhile concluded his partner was more easy-going. The digimon brothers exchanged looks, then grinned. Yep, figures that if they did get human partners, they'd be similar to them.
Aidan eventually calmed down enough to respond to Koutarou, who confirmed that the events of Golden Week was indeed caused by digimon. Aidan by now had calmed himself enough by coming up with a story to tell the chief of how he had lost his police work phone. The fact that it had been permanently changed into a digivice would indicate its function as a phone was now totally destroyed, and he could come up with a story of how it had done so easier than he would if it had been stolen or missing.
What Koutarou said last got the human brothers thinking. What was it exactly that had convinced them to go investigating around Miyashita Park?
"You know... I don't know exactly what it was that set our eyes in that direction." Aidan remarked, rubbing his stubble-haired chin. "But... if it's as you say, and it was our meeting our partners that drew us there, I think I can go with that, personally."
"Yeah, me too." Kieran added. With that, he looked around at the party. "So then, I guess we're heading to this town of "Rosewood" next, right?" he asked, eager to continue learning about this new world.

It seemed Kenny and Skadi's explanation of what Digimon were and how partnerships worked went off without so much of a hitch, thankfully. And neither could help but smile as Kieran took a good look at the giant Growlmon, who just moments earlier saved his very skin from becoming possibly bug food, while Aidan took the time to learn about the giant Veedramon, who had just finished tying down Flybeemon. Certainly, it was hard to ignore the spark of friendship starting to form between the fresh Tamers and the Digimon.
But when Koutarou spilled the beans about what might have happened to their phones, however... it was pretty easy to say Kenny was kinda lost on that matter when Aidan lost his marbles. He quickly raised a hand to him, "Dude, I think your brother's right. I'm pretty sure they won't kick you out just because your phone fried itself willy nilly. I'm pretty sure they'd understand, considering your job." He shrugged to Aidan. Kenny knew jack and shit about how cops worked internally, especially in Japan, so it had to do.
But other than that, Kenny and Skadi continued to listen to Koutarou explain a little bit more about what happened in Miyashita. And as he explained, a few thoughts came awash in his mind. Just what happened that day that made it such a disaster in the first place? All he knew so far was the state of the park afterwards (including a small crater just laying in the middle, like if a meteor hit it), Matadrmon's fate, and the image of Tiger and Coredramon flying through the sky as he and Skadi went home. That little bit of morbid curiosity birthed from that sight alone was probably not going to be satiated for a good long time.
With that settled, it was time to set off once more onto Rosewood. "Yeah, I'd say it's much more safer there than in here. Last thing we want right now is to have another batshit crazy Digimon to run in and tear us into a bajillion pieces." He said, as he lifted his Digivice up into the air. In a brief flash of light, Skadi's tiny sheep body quickly transformed into Canandenmon form, and she instinctively leaned down and nodded to the rest of the group.
"Alright everybody, climb on!" Skadi cried out to the rest, nudging her head to gesture them to herself, "Let's get outta here before anything else happens. I'll take you guys to Rosewood in no time at all." Kenny was first, climbing onto his partner in front. Once everyone else who could, did as well, it was time for them to set off, all the way into the city of Rosewood.

Oh jackpot, their phones somehow transformed into Digivice, huh. "There should be a service in Terminus that can replicate your phone down to their smallest details... Though if it's different than normal access phone, like ones that we civilian would use, then probably best ask your HQ for a replacement," Koutarou told the two. "But if it's just a normal phone and all that, then I think they can extract the data and just literally make you a new one from scratch. A bit pricy though for newbies. I don't mind giving you some as thank you for your service to the society, so to say."
"Waka, that was quite generous of you," Agito commented
"I mean I don't hate adults or police or anything like that. I just hate corrupt people, that's all. If these two are doing service to the society then so be it, I don't hate them," Koutarou countered.
"Either way, best leave here, right? To Rosewood?"
For the meantime though while they're on the road, Koutarou decided to ask these two questions. "...So, officer... There's one thing that bugging me and sort but how much does the non DATS knows about Digimon or Digital World, like... when there are missing person case that doesn't surface for like several months and such... generally, do you suspect there is some... spiritual-related shit going on?"

Aidan took some breaths to calm himself down over the loss of his work phone. While at first, he was worried about how in the world he could have explained how it could have been fried so badly, and how no explanations would be possible on how it happened, well... phones weren't the be-all and end-all. With how powerful they were these days, any one of them could end up accidentally fried by faulty wiring. Yeah... that was it. Aidan calmed himself down with thinking about that as an option to explain to his chief.
"Y-yeah... that sounds like a good plan." Aidan said to Kenny and Koutarou, glad that they were willing to help him think sense, especially with how bizarre this situation was for him at the moment. "I think I've got a way to explain what happened from that angle, yeah... it's happened before." Aidan calmed down and smiled.
Following that, Skadi offered them all a ride to Rosewood in her Canandenmon form. Roy and Rex respectfully declined, given they were both around 150kg in their Veedramon and Growlmon forms, way too much to ride on the sheep digimon. But they'd accompany her, forcefully escorting Flybeemon along with them. Kieran and Aidan gratefully accepted the ride meanwhile.
As they proceeded on their way, Aidan turned to Koutarou as he asked his question. It was blunt, but, he felt like he could answer it.
"To be honest? Yeah. It's been vexing us in the Shibuya branch of the Tokyo Police for a while." he answered. "Kids going missing, monsters being mentioned. We haven't really got any solid proof of anything though, at least down to my level anyway. But as of today, I think a lot of pieces are falling into place..."
"Aidan, you can't be serious about reporting this officially, right?" Kieran asked his brother. "How can you back it up? How can you be taken seriously? You won't lose your job over your fried phone, but, I think given how things have been going these past few years, you would lose your job if you started making claims about digimon... how could any court in Japan accept what we've seen today without proof?"
Aidan was silent for a moment. He initially thought he could record evidence right here, but, alas, his phone was fried as mentioned, so all this fell apart. In his forced silence, Kieran continued.
"Look, we've got digimon partners here, like so many other humans that got lost in the digital world, and we've got a way to return to Earth. Why don't we just... lay down for a while and get to know exactly what that means?" Kieran smiled at Rex. "I mean, come on, I know you're lying if you said you never wanted a talking dinosaur best friend."
"...Oh my god, we're best friends?!" Rex asked, his golden eyes beaming at the sentiment. Roy meanwhile maintained the restraint on Flybeemon, but smiled as well.
Aidan paused for a bit, then sighed in surrender. "Alright. Let's go by that way then." he said, exchanging the smile with Roy. After all, if the young policeman could have any partner in the world, a big blue and white dragon with the same sense of justice would be an excellent candidate.
All the while, Flybeemon listened to all this with contempt and hatred, but he had no means to act against this, so he was helpless as he was being brought into custody. Even as Roy and Rex were paying attention to their human partners, they were quickly alerted to any movement he made, so he could only be brought along powerlessly.
"Not long till Rosewood now." Roy remarked as they came across the outer residences of the city. "So, you guys. Koutarou, Kenny, how did you first meet your partners?" the Veedramon asked out of curiosity.

Kenny wasn't exactly the most knowledgeable in the world about how the police worked, even in Japan, but at the very least, Koutarou's explanation did help ease Aidan's nerves. Granted, it wasn't exactly everyday where a phone would just brick itself on a whim, but then again, they could easily just wave it off with it being a faulty model. And for someone like Skadi, that would lift a lot of stress off the shoulders.
Well, that and the fact that she wouldn't be carrying giant titanic replies with her as well. That would just scream 'overkill'.
As they walked along the path to Rosewood, the two would listen to Kieran and Aidan elaborate to Koutarou on how did non-DATS react to Digimon. Coming from a couple of actual policemen, this did raise several questions; DATS were essentially trying to repress knowledge of Digimon and for good reason. Yet they weren't perfect, if Aidan and Kieran's words were true. Wouldn't they have at least privatised it, at the very least?
But then again, Skadi found herself giggling a little upon hearing Rex's giddy remarks, and even Kenny found himself with a little smile on his face, nodding to the Growlmon. They just met and already the two pairs of humans and Digimon quickly found themselves to be fast friends; considering their newly founded partnership and subsequent bond, that couldn't have come at a more convenient time.
So lost he was in his thoughts, the only thing that managed to snap him out of it was Roy asking him about how he met his partner. Turning to the Veedramon as Skadi let out a knowing grin, Kenny simply rubbed the back of his head, "Yeah, that's... a funny story, actually." he chuckled awkwardly, "When I first moved to Japan, I was just walking around, exploring Shibuya and getting my bearings. And when I decided to check out the Hachiko Statue, I just so happened to come across this dust bunny-like thing who turned out not only to be alive, but completely sentient as well. And..." A light blush came across his face, "...she proceeded to snuggle against my foot and scare the shit out of me."
Skadi now found herself fighting to stifle her laughter at her Tamer's embarrassment, turning her head towards her tamer with a smile, "Aw, come on Kenny. I wasn't trying to scare you! I only wanted to say hi because I was so excited to find a tamer for me for the first time!"
Kenny just blinked for a few moments before conceding, "Fair point."
