It was quite a day for Herald really.
She had managed to get herself some more helpers from the more slum locale of terminus; she had a group of devimon's already so finding their kin in varied sorts wasn't hard. Impmons, dedmimon's and various others. They all wanted a place to be safe, a place to live. A place where they could live and eat. Teneborus was right underneath them but for those that didn't know how to find it or didn't have the resources to reach out their voices were lost in the buzz that was the terminus underbelly.
She had given them locations, she had given them work. Hell she even found one of her own kin, a mephistomon that was looking to sell wares legally but was struggling to set up shop. The market-district always could use another stall and with a little bit of pull Herald was able to snag him something in return for 5% of his profits monthly. She didn't want to push for too much in case he didn't make even. Skald wouldn't of liked it if a possible future friend was hindered by them asking for too much.
So here she was, reading one of the many human books she had come into. Stepping lightly through the alleyways that lead to her living space the goat hummed. Maybe it was time to get some more books from the terminus library? Learn a bit about the cultures that she was reading from. That or maybe she could just keep on reading their fantasies. It was intriguing to see what sort of things human's could come up with.
Especially this guy named Stephen king, he had a writing style that the mon just enjoyed outright. Though finding his books here in the digital world was difficult and she only ever found one that wasn't already taken by someone else's greedy paws. The small goat paused and looked around, flicking her ears a few times and taking a sniff.
"...Do I smell a chance?"
There was that undeniably strange smell of luck in the air, the sort of luck that lead into great things. She knew it well, it's how she was now bonded with her boss. Her little brother that was also her protector of sorts. And she was his protector. Humming to herself she'd close the book and stash it in her messenger bag before trotting along, following her intuition [and nose] to where she needed to go...
The day was young, the skies were clear and that didn't seem to be likely to change anytime soon...

A lapse of judgment. That was the only way to describe what had led the blackguilmon known as Gio to now be wandering the streets of the city of Terminus on his own and unsupervised. Really, lapse of judgement was the only way to describe his brother's (and his own) actions: it was rather irresponsible to send someone with such poor navigational skills and equally poor attention span like Gio to run an errand, no matter how insignificant. Even with clear and simple instructions repeated into his ear over and over, the black scaled lizard stil found a way to get separated from his companions and find himself simply and utterly lost.
Yet truth be told he didn't seem particularly worried or upset about any of this. Of course he wasn't happy about it either, but at worst he seemed mildly annoyed at this turn of events.
How couldn't he be, they were surely going to have ice cream without him now! Perhaps motivated to avoid such a grim fate from ocurring, or maybe to try and prove himself in a way he was now doing everything in his power to return to his family's side. Which pretty much amounted to walking through the streets of Terminus, trying to get his bearings.
This was easier said than done as the guilmon didn't seem to be able to rely on his keen sense of smell to find his brother or human, the various scents and aromas of the city assaulting his nostrils, not allowing him to make out any distinct smell other than that of food. Which only managed to make his stomach growl, distracting him further.
"Hungry..."
As this was happening he recalled Carlos mentioning something about "staying put if he ever got lost", but that frankly seemed like a silly idea. How was he going to find his way back by staying in one place?
That's why he now found himself waling down the alleyways of Terminus, his claws scratching the corners of the walls every time he found himself forced to cross a street, leaving small yet noticeable marks on the sides of the buildings as he passed. They would make for a nice reminder of where he had already looked for his Tamer and brother. Hell, maybe it could help them to find Gio! It was foolproof!
Sure, some of the residents that caught him in the act didn't seem particularly amused, some even threatening to call the authorities to stop Gio's unknowing act of vandalism. One particularly annoyed Ranamon going so far as to chase the dinosaur away with streams of cold water, pushing a confused Gio in the opposite direction, though luckily he hadn't received any damage other than him now having to continue his search while cold and wet. Heck he was almost grateful to the Ranamon: now he didn't need to shower!

Perhaps it was the scent of someone that needed help, perhaps it was the hunger she felt from a distance. Or perhaps it was the miserable desire of finding their way home that beckoned to herald. Regardless of that fact the heramon shifted to look about, sniffing and craning her neck to get a better fix on this person that she could feel was nearby. This section of the city wasn’t as populated, wasn’t as dense so people going through were easier to find. The heramon huffed a bit and rounded a corner.
She found herself staring at a black guilimon that was getting chased by a ranamon spraying the poor soul with some pretty cold looking water. The tall goat rubbed her chin watching the dragon digimon run away from the ranamon. She’d huff a bit and step lightly, the ranamon whirling to do the same to her but the glare that she received from the heramon sent her stuttering and apologizing.
Even here, even with as little as they did. People knew not to fuck with herald. Or her brother. Herald was the physical one that you didn’t want knocking on your door late at night while skald would pull the rug right out from underneath you before you even knew what was wrong.
Only a small hand of those locals were here too, so they were safely out of the center of attention. Herald stepped lightly and held up a hand as the ranamon tried to apologize, thinking that the guilimon was one of her workers. The heramon shook her head and just kept on walking, waving the ranamon off.
”Not mine. But going to be soon I think.”
”S-still! S-sorry!”
She heard the scampering of their feet as she walked after Gio; eventually she’d catch up to the dinosaur; paying attention to the scrapes he left behind and the wet dripping of water from his body. Yes he looked hungry, yes he looked lost and yes she was going to fix both of those.
”Hey there!”
She’d call out, waving at the small dinosaur, a big smile on her face. She was about to do work and that always made her happy; maybe just maybe she could convince this dino to sign a contract? Work for her maybe? Or perhaps she could learn where it came from to do work with whoever it worked for. Or have them work for her in return for the favor of getting their wayward son or daughter back!
”Lost? I couldn’t help but notice that ranamon chase you off… What’s your name? Mine’s herald~”
The demon would offer a hand for a shake, that smile widening a bit. After that whole dats interaction she was getting better at putting on faces but this one was legitimately happy to see you sort...

Gio didn't seem surprised once he head the voice behind calling out to him. Why would he? He had felt the scent of whoever was calling him way before he had heard it. It was a rare, different smell. One that was very much difficult to ignore, but also equally as hard to place. He quickly turned himself around, probably splashing this new person with some drops of the cold water that soaked his body, though he certainly didn't notice. He was met by the sight of what seemed to be a tall, grinning red and black goat like digimon, looking not unlike a smaller and less threatening looking Mephistomon. A somewhat odd, perhaps even ominous look for some, but for Gio it couldn't have been further from that.
"Hi!" He chirped back with a toothy smile, clearly still in high spirits despite his less than ideal situation, content to have someone actually pay attention to him for a change. When asked about his current predicament he showed no hesitation in opening up to this new and friendly digimon. "Yep! Totally lost! I'm Gio, and I didn't know Herald could be a name, I thought it was a job, like those digimons that say they can see the future." He said, his smile fading into a confused look as he seemed to get lost in his own thoughts. At least for a moment that is, before his eyes widened, as if a lightbulb had lit up inside his mind, before he looked back up at Herald with starry eyes.
"Can you see the future?" Was it any wonder how he was lost with such an attention span?

The heramon tilted her head a little bit as the other looked her over; she could tell this was a younger digimon just by looking at them. How old would she seem to them? How powerful would she come off to them? The chirpy toothy response was exactly what she was hoping for. This younger mon definitely was the impressionable sort wasn’t he? She got that sort of feeling from him; that or maybe he was just childish. He was pretty open about things and the mon blinked in surprise as he seemed to ramble a bit.
”Well it’s a pleasure to meet you gio. Oh? Well anything can really be a name if you think about it. Rose is a flower but often more than not we find people using it as a name. And future vision? Hmm. I think I know what you mean darling.”
Herald chuckled a bit and then blinked as he asked her quite a loaded question; could she see the future? Not entirely sure how to answer that… The heramon mused about it. If she put enough effort into it she might be able to get a glimpse of it. But it’d take a lot of time and materials she figured. For something short term well…
”Somewhat. But I have rituals and magic that i can do that let me see variables better. Or a general ‘feeling’ of what you should do or how something is going to go down. Imagine a gut feeling that’s absolutely right. How did you come to be lost? Do you need help finding your way back? I bet I could help you.”
The heramon left out the ‘for a price’ bit but that was probably something the younger mon would pick up. Though the heramon had already drawn out a small scroll of paper; it was blank for the most part past a few scrawlings of what looked to be digi-coding and some magical nonsense around the edges.
”I’ve got a few ways of helping you. Though the easiest would be this scroll. It's got some things that it'd need to be filled out or some conditions to be met before it'd work though.”

"I think I get it..." Gio said, though he didn't seem to sure about his own answer. So she couldn't see the future, but she could feel it? He wanted to inquire more, but her question made him forget about that subject just as quickly. How he had gotten lost? That was an easy answer really.
"Oh, I was following after my bro and Carlos, then I saw this tiny butterfly. I tried to catch it so I could show it to them but it was too fast. So I kept trying and trying, and when I finally caught her...I couldn't see them again." He explained the previous situation to her, waving his arms around dramatically as if trying to give her a reenacment of the situation on the spot, before suddenly stopping, his usually cheery smile faltering for a moment. Only then it began to dawn on him just how...alone he felt. Despite how loud and mean his brother could be sometimes...not hearing his voice for such a long time was starting to wear on him. Despite how loud the city was, it was almost deafeningly silent without the other two's voices.
He looked down at the ground, sighing a bit and pouting, his claws absentmindedly scratching at the ground beneath him. "I tried calling them but they never answered, then I tried catching their scent but I all I could smell was the food from the shops."
The blackguilmon looked up back at Herald, rubbing his muzzle a bit, an almost inaudible sniffle escaping from him as he did so. "S-so I started walking and looking for them, even scratched some walls so I knew where I had been but...I can't find them."
If Herald were to look closely to his face, she'd probably find his eyes would look a bit brighter, perhaps a bit wetter than usual. It would only last for a moment, but as soon as Gio raised one clawed hand to whipe his eyes it would be plain to see he was trying to hold back some tears. Luckily, a hint of a smile would come back once the tall digimon offered a helping hand for him.
"Can you help me find them Lady Herald?" He asked, looking up at her not in despair or sadness, but hopeful, though there was clearly something else on the back of his mind troubling him. He wasn't raised to expect or even know about the generosity of strangers, that was a fairly new concept he had learned from Carlos. Hell, even in his old and relatively privileged way of living, he was rarely given things just for free. "Do I...have to do anything?"
As he waited for an answer however his eyes took note of the odd scroll the goat like digimon was now holding. He looked at the scroll intently, his gaze captivated by the digital (or were they magical) scrawlings on the edges. He'd give it a curious sniff, before looking back at Herald.
"So how does it work?" He asked, tilting his head curiously, looking back at it as he scratched the back of his neck, seemingly deep in thought. Could this thing possibly have instructions on how to find his family? If so there was just a slight problem for him,
"I dunno how to read or write though..."

Herald tilted her head to one side; so this youth was following after his brother and someone named carlos. He then chased after a butterfly and had become separated from his friends. She’d rub at her chin and then noting how he seemed to look she’d reach out to gently rub the top of his head. She knew how it felt to be alone and he definitely didn’t like it.
”I know how it goes Gio, getting lost in terminus isn’t too uncommon and you did well to try to keep your way with those scratches. I can understand why some people would be upset given the fact well… some people here don’t like their property being damaged.”
She’d shrug her shoulders and a small smile worked its way onto her face; she could see that he was close to crying. She felt kind of bad for him; given that being lost in such a location would often lead to more trouble or a mugging. But he didn’t look the sort to have a problem being physical so the twats that usually did that didn’t bother someone like him.
”I can. Don’t worry your pretty head darling.”
She’d pause for a moment as he asked if he needed to do anything; then followed by his curiosity on the item. He didn’t know how to read or write? Well that wouldn’t be a problem. She’d hum a bit and then just shake her head at the youth; getting a small smile.
”Well; since you don’t know how to read or write it works a bit more simply. It goes off of the desires of the contract holders, for example you want to find your brother and… friend carlos yes? So it’ll help me in terms of magical prowess to do so. Where I’ll simply ask for a service or the like in response. Nothing drastic I assure you! Unless you want me to do more for you; then the contract becomes a little more complicated. But it’s the sort that is very difficult to manipulate or change without meeting a second time.”
The heramon would kneel down and tap at the bottom of the page; there was a single line. Her name was already there and if gio looked there wouldn’t be a question of it. It felt like herald, it smelled like her; in fact it was a touch of her very essence in that word even if he didn’t know what it meant.
”But for now? All you have to do is put your claws on the page and it’ll take a small bit of your data to make this contract ‘start’. In which then I can use one of my abilities to focus to try to find them. I can do it normally; but given how big of a city terminus is it’s hard to be precise…”
Herald sighed a bit, she held a few contracts but now they were all on dead mons that knew nothing about her. So they were practically useless; all she could do with them was keep track of them from time to time when they were reborn again or entered terminus…
”If I was stronger I wouldn’t need this sort of thing; but alas. It’s what I have to do!”
