Rustport, someone is pacing back and forth. They looked slightly thirsty, yet they continued to do this anyway. They looked at the cracked ground hard, as if trying to wish for something... anything... would come out from it. Its eyes looking at the crack so intently. If eyes can drill upon those cracks, then it would probably had been done. Scattered on the road, several Digimons and humans alike seem to be as equally thirsty and desperate. An Agumon even goes as far as clawing the ground, tongue lolling, yet no saliva seem to came out.
A loud horn of a train seem to snaps their attention from being reduced to such feral desperation, almost like it gave them energy to move, the crowds immediately ran toward the train. It's understandable why though. They're carrying water. This one came from whitewater, another from snowflake.
"Howdy, guess you never seen such sight?" a Revolmon asked. "Actually, Rustport isn't usually like this, but this is summer and well... our well have dried up. Usually we took water from the oasis so that our well could recover some... but you see... few weeks ago there was an incident in the oasis. Our usual water harvester was attacked by unknown Digimon... we assumed it's a Digimon, anyway... No one knew what it is. After an attack, it just... vanished. One managed to ran away far enough by tossing their collected water at their attacker... and still we have no idea what's the attacker is like.
We tried to send some force down there, but unfortunately there hasn't been any news on whether they're still alive or not. It's been two days, and we think... they're probably gone now. But still, you guys are here, that means you guys wanted to help, right? Please, I beg you, please help us. We can't afford water to be transported like this for the entire season. We'll be long dead before then... I don't care how much we should pay, but we'll pay for it. As long as the oasis can be liberated..."

Adam was taking notes on the situation. Severe dehydration would kill these people sooner rather than later, which put a time limit on this task. They'd need to finish it with brutal efficiency if they were going to save everyone. "I assume there's a reason you can't just leave, then? Well, no matter if there is..." He looks to the Stingmon by his side, grinning. He knew what the answer from the noble, prideful Digimon would be. He just liked goading him at this point.
Ascalon shakes his head. The state of this town was unforgiveable. Someone who would drive innocents to such lengths could be nothing but a monster. He growled, looking to his Liege. A gentle nod was all that he needed. "I cannot leave the powerless like this. My liege and I shall journey to this Oasis and dispatch the monsters, whether by mind or by might. Your town shall be safe yet." He holds his hand out to Adam, and begins producing a few strands of Silk Wires. This had become their operating procedure. When dealing with unknowns, you want as many advantages as possible. They threads wouldn't be super sticky like this, only affecting the ends of the strands and not the middle, but it would be enough to set up a trap. As another precaution, Adam activated his newly purchased EV suit. A place like this might get to him without protection.
Ability used: Silk Wires
Silk Wires: A leftover ability from his time as a Wormmon, Ascalon is capable of making silk strings from his fingertips. These can be stored for later, but after a day the threads will degrade enough to be broken by a light breeze. These come in a few varieties, and the stickiness can be changed to only affect certain parts of the silk. In combat, this can be used to attempt to tie up or immobilize opponents if used multiple times in a row. Ascalon's least favorite move. 1 turn: Annoyance/Tether 2 turns: Reduces speed by 50% 3 Turns: Immobilizes for one turn. (Only against Rookies or lower)

The blonde russian couldn't help but shake her head at the sight of the dehydrated mons flocking to the water delivery like moths to a lamp. Things had gotten that bad, huh? It was honestly kinda pitiful, and it was almost enough to make Sasha herself feel thirsty.
All in all seem like a fairly standard job all things considered, at least compared to the other assignments her usual boss Amelie paid her for. Well, if you ignored the whole "unknown digimon" part, she was used to at least knowing what she was supposed to punch.
"So just to be sure, when we find whoever or whatever is causing this, what you want us to do? Arrest them? Get rid of them?" She asked as she turned away from the crowd and to the Revolmon once he was done talking, after which she'd turn to her other teammates. "So uh, I dunno how you guys usually do this stuff but I feel we should at least tell eachother how should we handle a fight to coordinate and such, I guess."
"I'll probably go and deal with whatever we find in there up close in their faces, but if we need it I can also stay back and cover you from a distance. Sound good?"

Water, the element of life. It falls from the sky, and enough of it can cause great destruction through floods and tsunamis. Yet without it, life can not go on. From the lowliest bug to the grandest lord answers to thirst. Many places are abundant with water, but the desert is not. Digimon in this city survive only on a single source of water, and now that source is in jeopardy due to an unknown assailant.
A single crow flies across the desert. The bird notices some humans and Digimon gathered around and swoops down. A violet glow surrounds the crow as Ravenna appears in her human form wearing black and purple robes suitable for the climate. Her purple hair sticks out from underneath her hood as her cloak flaps in the desert wind. The former track athlete notices the Digimon rushing over to the Trailmon delivering water rations to the dehydrated crowd. The situation is serious.
"This crime will not go overlooked. I offer my services as a Spirit User and recovery specialist."
The woman in black did not know who attacked the water harvester, but she could get to know the others who have gathered to fix the problem. It looks like the Revolmon has the most information on what is going on. Ravenna does not recognize anyone here from her travels. There is a human accompanied by a Stingmon, as well as a blonde Russian. Ravenna turns to the others and does a quick curtsy.
"Greetings. My name is Ravenna."
The blonde Russian suggests going over how to handle a fight and coordinate.
"My powers have gotten me through many tough battles before, but I excel best at fighting at a distance and using my magic to influence the fight in our favor. However, we can't completely settle on a strategy until we understand our enemy."

"To be honest there are no other cities here in the west. There is obviously Hardware Den, but that one is... well, inhabited by machine type Digimons. We're too different from one another. We can't really... evacuate there. We'll still get thirsty, while they probably just need to plug something to their body."
Also... Immediately going to fight? The Revolmon just stared at the four newcomers. Sure going to the area immediately would be beneficial, but... Are they seriously going to go there immediately?
"...Sirs and Missus, the Oasis is far," the Revolmon began. "You'll need more than just walking to go there. You need to ride something, Trailmon preferred. However ever since the attack of such beings, the Terminus Railway company has blocked the access to the oasis. With that being said, this means that if you want to get to the oasis, you have to go the other way... Riding on Digimon does not seem to be a good idea considering it'll reduce their stamina after all. I'm afraid that you have to look for other way. Thankfully our city is full of mechanics. I'm pretty sure there are one or two people who doesn't mind to lend you a vehicle to get there...
...Thing is, if you need a guide, there won't be many that willing."
Mmm, anyway, that aside...
"...If you want to look for information about the beings, I suggest to ask houses with teardrop mark on the door. That's signifies our local water transporter you see."

"It's nice just riding the Trailmon through the Digital World, isn't it Dokamon?" The young teenage AEGIS agent Johan asked his partner who was sitting across from him. "I feel like we never get to take a break from AEGIS duties outside of school and such, you know?"
"Agreed," Dokamon said with a very robotic nod, his voice pretty monotone, "I do not mind the duties we partake in at AEGIS but I am also not one to argue against a small break. Where are we riding, anyways?"
"Well the next stop is Rustport," Johan suggested. He fiddled with his prosthetic arm a little bit. "I heard it got rebuilt and is pretty nice now. Plus there might be some tech related things there. Always gotta experiment with Digital World tech, never know when it might come in handy."
It was then that Johan had noticed the other passengers on this particular Trailmon. A majority of them seemed to be carrying water with them. Was Rustport going through some kind of drought? Johan looked over at Dokamon to get his opinion, as the blue robotic Digimon had noticed it as well.
"We must investigate."
When the Trailmon stopped and everyone got off, Johan and Dokamon hung back for a bit to see what all the water business was about. They overheard a Revolmon telling the story of what happened to the town's well to a small group: a male human with a Stingmon, a female blonde human, and a crow who turned into a woman wearing black. Definitely a Spirit User.
Revolmon explained that the water harvester was attacked by an unusual Digimon, which immediately raised Johan's attention even more. Whatever force they sent down there, they hadn't responded back, and the town was getting desperate. All of the members agreed to help with the mission, with Revolmon saying the Oasis was very far away and that they would need to get both a reliable vehicle and a guide. This was when Johan stepped in.
"I don't know if folks around here would respond to a couple of random humans and Digimon," Johan would say while walking up to the group, "but maybe they will if we come along with you."
If the group were to turn around, they'd see a young teen/adult male with messy light brown hair standing among them with a Dokamon at his side. The human would be wearing a green shirt underneath a dark brown trench coat, with black jeans and dark brown boots. He would also be wearing a black glove over his right hand. He pulled out his badge to show the group with said hand.
"Agent Walker, of AEGIS. We overheard your situation, Revolmon. If there are Digimon out there stopping your water supply, I assure you we will bring those Digimon to justice. We would be willing to help, if you will let us."

When the blonde speaks up, Adam turns towards her and sizes her up mentally. She said SHE was fighting... And there was the matter of the crow woman. Were there other methods of fighting here that he was unaware of? He'd have to learn quickly if he was going to stand a chance on his own. "Of course. My name is Adam, and this is my ally, Ascalon. We tend to fight with me calling the shots and Ascalon getting into combat. Our best trick is setting traps using these wires, and Ascalon's Moon Shoot. Unfortunately, we don't have a lot of finishing blows, but we can keep the fight going as long as we're up."
So the oasis was a trip away. This made things more complicated, but he brightened when Revolmon mentioned that there were mechanics in the city. He'd be able to talk to them, gather information... And if we was lucky, stop walking everywhere. Ascalon refused to carry him outside of emergencies, complaining he was too heavy to transit normally without eating away at his stamina, and, as Ascalon liked to say, as his Liege's Spear, he must be always ready to pierce the enemy. A guide would be a bit trickier, unless they could find someone motivated to come along.
Ascalon looks to the newcomers, raising a hand in greeting. "Hail, Agent. What is Aegis?" He simply asks what Adam was about to, which brings a grin from the General. This might be easier than he thought. Ascalon could play the fool while Adam keeps his mouth shut and learns. Adam gives a polite wave as well, nodding.
"If you're here to help, I won't turn it away. I get the feeling this will be a tough one."

As the revolvermon caught the group up to speed, two new arrivals appeared to join in with their efforts: a black wearing spirit user by the name of Ravenna, and a tamer named Johan along side a dokamon. Between those three, Sasha, Adam and Ascalon their group was, if nothing else a rather colorful bunch, that much was clear. But she wasn't one to judge a book by it's cover, help was still help. She'd give a nod to them, before replying.
"Right. Name's Sasha, I work for the Deeplane Council, yadda yadda, nothing really worth bringing up right now. Welcome aboard, I guess. Like Adam here said, having more people willing to help is always welcome." Once introductions were done and out of the way and Revolvermon was finished explaining the situation, their course of action was "relatively" straightfoward: ask around, find clues, perhaps a guide and get to the oasis by any means other by foot. She'd glance back at the group again and add, "You heard the mon, people. Let's find us a ride to the oasis and as much intel as we can get."
At least they had a slight clue on where to begin: the houses with a teardrop mark. "I say we either split up and have some of us ask around to find out what we can, meanwhile the rest maybe go and try to find a mechanic with a vehicle to get us all there safely, or...I guess we could do all that as a group. Any of those sound good?" She asked with a shrug as she eyed the nearby buildings, taking note of which ones were marked.
Once they had solved how to approach their little recon job she'd start by making her way to the closest house marked with the teardrop, before giving the door a solid knock. Getting information on the oasis and the threat lurking there seemed like the most important factor right now. Hopefully whoever was inside would be willing to try and help them.

It would seem they needed to find transportation to take them the rest of the way there. Revolmon explains how riding to the Oasis would leave them fatigued. "That is true. Even if I flew to the oasis, I would be using up my energy."
The group has two tasks to handle first. They need to ask the water transporter about what happened, and acquire transportation to get to the oasis. After Ravenna got there, a human accompanied by a Dokamon joined the effort. He introduces himself as Walker, an agent for AEGIS. Ravenna does not exactly know what AEGIS is, but she is not the only one, as Ascalon asks about it.
Ascalon is the Digimon accompanying Adam, who explains that their specialty is setting up traps. That kind of thing could come in handy once they've located the culprit. The blonde Russian introduces herself as Sasha. She suggests splitting up to ask about the water while the rest look for a mechanic about transportation.
"I'm fine with splitting up to handle things. I will look for the door with the teardrop mark."
Getting a ride was important, but speaking to the water transporter would give Ravenna a clearer picture on what they have on their hands. Ravenna follows Sasha to the house marked with the teardrop, hiding under her hood from the desert sun. While the former track athlete is focused on solving the water crisis, she couldn't help but feel a little hungry after that flight. It's a good thing she's packed some extra supplies for this trip.

"AEGIS?" the Revolmon parroted, more to questioning rather than those of obliviousness "your jurisdiction shouldn't even involves Digital World, why would you use that name here? Either way, this is not a criminal either, Officer, if that what you meant by "bringing it to justice"... or at least I believe so. Main reason is lack of concise reason as of why they're stopping the water transport. To destroy Rustport? Honestly, we're just dinky little town that's good with technology. We're not sure if eliminating us would do any good.
If it's revenge, then it felt like it's too random. Apparently thirsty traveler also get attacked without reason at all but because they tried to take the water for themselves. Either way, that's all I know for the meantime... Goodluck either way."
So teardrop mark it is, there are several houses here with such sign. Most of them looked like its homeowner has not stepped out for quite a while. On one place, there is a Ponchomon who's sitting on rocking chair. He looks shriveled up, not from dehydration, but seem from age.
"Here to look for water, lads and lasses? Unfortunately I haven't been able to get any water since a while. My son was attacked, you see, and he's currently recuperating inside. All water on my reserve is for him, and I'll not share it to anyone. I know the rest are thirsty, but I only got one son. Even if he were to reborn, there's no guarantee that he'll be my son in the next life. My wife has left me, and he's the only one I have. Beg your understanding."
...Looks like the old man has been pestered quite a lot considering that there are lot of wounds on his body too. He coughed slightly.
Mechanics meanwhile are easier to found. They're literally everywhere, but every single one of them looked at the team like hungry hyenas-- or better said, thirsty hyenas. There are speck of hope in their eyes, but it's dwarfed by desperation that seem to be ready to jump anytime at them... these people are thirsty, and they'll do anything for water, even if it means turning into villain. But still, what holding them back is simply because they had no idea whether the team have water or not...
...It might be very prudent to act with care, and patiently rather than hastily tosses oneself like a wounded wildebeest toward hyenas.

Post by Johan Walker on Nov 27, 2019 5:42:03 GMT
Revolmon seemed very suspicious of Johan, since the Digital World really wasn't in AEGIS's jurisdiction, and wanted to know why he used the name here, and what he meant by "bring the criminal to justice," since there didn't seem to be a criminal. "Better to be upfront about where I am from rather than just finding out from someone else, even if it doesn't mean anything. And from the way I heard your story, something or someone is attacking Digimon. Even if that isn't my job, if I hear something like that is happening I won't just stand in the sidelines."
The others seemed a bit confused by what AEGIS was. Understandable, they don't usually go yelling to the world about who they are. "We're a team of humans and Digimon who strive to keep the law and order stable on Earth. We mainly strive there, but there are instances where we assist in the Digital World." The group would notice that Dokamon was more... robotic than actually alive, just in the way he spoke.
The group decided to go to the house with the teardrop mark on it together. They would see a new Digimon that Johan had not seen before, a cactus wearing a sombrero and poncho. He explained that his son was injured, presumably as one of the water harvesters, and needed the water they did have to keep him stable. Johan and Dokamon did definitely understand and did not press any farther. "We're sorry for wasting your time. Hope your son feels better."
After the water transporter house bust, next were the mechanics. When the group approached them, the mechanics that were there all looked at the group with crazy hyena-like looks. They were probably very desperate for water. Dokamon decided to attempt to speak up, not daring to get much closer to them. "Good day to you. We are here to solve your oasis problem. All we ask for is transportation, and we will be able to go up to your oasis and collect some water, possibly even discover what is attacking your water harvesters. We would be most thankful if you are willing to cooperate with us."

Adam nods to the rest of the group. This... Aegis business seemed like trouble. Maybe he'd steer clear of it once this was finished. For now though, he's almost stunned by how callous Johan is behaving. The odd being may not be human, but he was suffering from this, and Adam wouldn't stand by idly while anything was being attacked. He nodded to the Ponchomon, bowing his head a bit. "I am deeply sorry to hear your son was attacked. This is incredibly rude of me, but if he's in a state to talk, may I speak with him? Perhaps he saw what attacked him, and if he did, I can use that information to give us the best chance to make sure we avenge him." He raised his eyes, locking his gaze with Ponchomon's. "I wouldn't dream of taking water from one in such dire need of it, and I believe no one traveling with me would either. We're all here for one purpose, to end the source of the suffering of this town." He had a hunch what was going on, based on the clues they'd already gathered, but knowing for certain would give them all the best chance of survival.
Ascalon stands behind Adam, grinning behind his mask. He really had chosen the right master. This young man was a shining example of chivalry. Protect those you can, assist others, and put yourself in danger first. What a fascinating human. He does look over the newest Digimon though, his antennae buzzing a bit. "Pardon me for asking, but I've... been out of the Digital World for a while. What, exactly, are you? You do not resemble the Digimon I once knew."

The situation is even worse than Ravenna thought. The dehydrated mechanics were turning to violence to survive. This team that has assembled to aid Revolmon may not know each other well, but they are striving towards a noble cause. There is some speculation about AEGIS and justice. Revolmon questions whether Johan Walker's authority pertains to what they are planning. Johan explains it's more about standing against this unknown enemy during a crisis. Ravenna nods her head in agreement.
"If you have a Digivice, your job is to defend both worlds against threats. At least, that is what we tell new Tamers. These people are suffering, and we want to fix things and bring this enemy to justice."
When looking for one of the water handlers, they come across a Ponchomon sitting on a rocking chair. He explains that his son was attacked by this creature, and he cannot spare any water. Adam expresses his condolences to the father and asks to speak to his son about the attack. Ravenna did not have to say much, as Adam was very polite and explained things well. Any details about the attacker would aid them.
"I am terribly sorry what happened to your son. We are looking to retrieve the water ourselves, and may encounter this creature."
Ponchomon seemed friendly enough, but the mechanics looked like they were out for blood. The group had come here to aid them, and there is the risk of mechanics ambushing them for water. Dokamon addresses some mechanics and explains that they are heading to the oasis for water and need transportation. Ravenna does not appreciate the shady eyes glaring at them. The Spirit User keeps her hand close to her D-tector underneath her cloak. If any mechanics turn hostile, the woman in black is ready to Spirit Evolve and unleash the crows.
"Turning to violence over water, twisted, but it's survival."
Ravenna does not appreciate being viewed as prey. She almost wants some of the nearly feral mechanics staring to attack, so she can show her strength and scare them off.

"Honestly, who cares who you work for? If you're here to be helpful that's enough for me." The russian stated once again, shrugging a bit at the AEGIS's duo response towards the Revolvermon. For all she cared they could have been DATS agents and it wouldn't change much. Once again, help was help, no matter where it came from, and it wasn't like Rustport could afford to be picky about who stepped up for it.
The old, wrinkly looking Ponchomon that greeted them at the first tear marked house seemed polite enough considering the drought and the incident with his son. There wasn't much for her to add to what Adam then said to the Ponchomon, other than give a small nod showing she shared the sentiment. In all honesty she didn't really expect him to be able to give them much information but they didn't lose much for asking, so she turned her attention to the other relevant party for their mission: the mechanics.
As for said mechanics that were eyeing them with an almost predatory looks? She would have been content with simply scaring them away with a display of power and hire whoever stood their ground, but that would probably only make things harder on them. They had to take things slow and carefully. "What he said." She said glancing at the Dokamon before looking back at the dehydrated group and talking again in an all too relaxed sounding tone. "We also need a guide or someone that knows their way to the Oasis so we can get there as efficiently as possible." She would have said plenty more to them, but she wanted to see how they would respond first, last thing she wanted was to seemingly yank their provervial chain with "false hopes" as it were.

"Well, not like I'm against it either," the Revolmon answered with a shrug. "A help is a help. If you're not here to meddle in authority of Rustport then that's fine and dandy with me." With that, he decided to leave the group to do whatever task they wanted to do.
...Now, word of sympathy is fine to the Ponchomon, but they wanted to talk with his son? "Please don't think about avenging anyone. I... I don't want what befell my son to be repeated on you all. Though if you want to talk with him...Hmmm... let me... see, honestly." He rose from his rocking chair and opened the door. He let it open some for them to see a Togemon wrapped up in bandages, even over his eyes and mouth.
"Son, are you in condition to talk?"
The Togemon tapped the floor once with his gloved hand.
"........He's in no state to talk, but... I think if you ask a yes or no question, he might be able to answer. He got sands in his system, and doctor just managed to remove these impurities. They said if he drinks a lot of water, he might be cured, but... I don't quite have enough, so..."
What he is? "Uh, I'm a Ponchomon. Never seen a Ponchomon before? I'm just older than the rest is all."
Hmmm, and the mechanic? Dokamon's offer made most of them click their tongue in annoyance. Looks like they're not going to take approach where they take out water bottles and give that to everyone... It's a letdown, but definitely a 'safe' option.
They did well.
On top of it, the two ladies ready to spirit evolve just made some more bloodthirsty mechanics backed down, muttering something along the line "this is stupid". However, an Alraumon approached.
"If we give you vehicle and guide, would you please give our workshop..." she looked at the rest. Asking for water will ends in disaster, but that's not exactly what she's asking "...can you give us some salt perhaps? Yes, a bag of salt, and a jar of honey would do. I'm not willing to negotiate."
...........That's a strange request, but... Well, that's what she's asking.
