Pop Up Restaurant - Silver Wings [Open]
|
Post by ryouta on Nov 21, 2019 6:36:20 GMT
That day, there was a small open chat in Tamernet.
Greetings everyone, my name's Noguchi Ryouta I'm just a humble Digital World traveler really. However, like many in real world, I too have a real world responsibility. In my case, I'm aspiring to be a chef. If anyone is interested, I would like to invite you my small pop up restaurant, Silver Wings.
Our initial location is in Mainframe Hill. We'll move after seven days to somewhere else, and then continue again until five days real world time... So in total, I'll be serving you for thirty five days. As I'm not a professional chef, the food will be discounted and definitely less expensive than your traditional restaurant. So how about it? Would you like to give it a try?
Our store is open starting tomorrow at three PM Japan Time. Please come if you like.
And on the promised day, Ryouta has been working several hours earlier from the promised time. He prepared for the ingredients that he could premade prior, such as sauces, batters and such. Cakes already prepared beforehand, and is now chilling on the fridge display on the front.. The menus in question are rather simple, which draw inspiration from western meals. There are pastas, some steaks, burgers, there are also fish, and various cold dessert. The carbs of choice are either rice or bread. The prices also as promised, lower than most. Ryouta traded his usual clothes with those of a chef's clothes.
...He hope it at least made him less intimidating (lol)
Either way... the venue is an open air dining. There are tables with chairs and umbrellas, about twenty set of them or so. If people are waiting, they can lay on the grassy ground with provided carpets. There are also some workers, both for kitchen staff and cooking staff (if he's alone he's afraid that he will probably get exhausted before he's done with his job)
...Either way... here hoping that there will be numbers of customers.

scarab: ok, my neemon
A restaurant that rotated locations wasn't something that Hisato hadn't heard of before. He'd heard of rotating seasonal menus before, and something akin to what Ryouta's tamernet announcement entailed, so he figured it'd be alright to show up to help a friend out.
Well, someone he'd consider a friend at the very least. Plus, there was probably good food involved. So, as someone who rarely ever used Tamernet, he got Scarab to send the response of "Sure, we'll go." and the bug promptly did so by sending....That.
Hopefully Hisato'd never see that and ask 'why a Neemon.'
Okay, enough with the preamble. Onto the actual day. The hills were far more forgiving a climate than the desert was, so Hisato was...not in an EV suit this time, thank god. "...Ooooookay, that's a train car." The teenager uttered out loud, while Scarab crawled up and nodded.
"Yep. That's probably the kitchen. Would be a good place to put cooking appliances, so good on Ryouta. Hey, why don't you go and see if he needs help or anything of the sort?" The Wormmon posited. "Uh...Why?" The teenager replied.
"Who puts an advertisement on TAMERNET? Someone who needs help beyond customers. And you could definitely use some more experience with cooking, too. You just fucking suck at it." Scarab's explanation was punctuated with claw movements. Mostly for emphasis, but also to drive the point of Hisato just SUCKING at cooking home.
"...No need to remind me, you clown."
That's at the entrance. What a display.

DrMothman: Yeah, sure. Why not, I'd be happy to support you. See you there.
If it weren't for Ryouta and Valt, and that faithful meeting on that one special day at the Spartan Training Grounds, Kenny and Skadi probably wouldn't even have heard of KIZNA, much less end up joining it. But yet, here they were today, and their lives had up and changed for the better for it, especially for the young tamer. He and Skadi made a whole bunch of new friends of various shapes and sizes (and fluffiness... Ophelia says hi), did a lot of amazing things, including their own contribution to Golden Week, and chipped in to help against the big struggle against the Demon Lords. Needless to say, neither of them could thank their senpais enough. Anyways, as Kenny and Skadi, the tamer wearing a replica Sydney Roosters jersey instead of his normal KIZNA uniform, walked to the entrance of the restaurant of the calm Mainframe Hills, they could spot 2 people nearby, looking to be a tamer/Digimon duo, one being a human boy they never seen before, the other being... the same Wormmon from the casino incident wait what? What happened? How did he end up getting a tamer? And what was he going on about anyways? Our duo only stopped for a moment to watch the other two argue for a bit. After a brief pause, Kenny merely turned to Skadi, "What's his problem?" She just shrugged a little in confuion. Thank God, Buddha and Arceus that the Wormmon there wasn't his partner. Regardless, that wasn't what they were here for. After all, they did want to catch up with Ryouta and Valt, right? They were the duo's friends, after all. And senpais. So they took a seat on one of the carpets, waiting to be seated by one of the employees. Hopefully, Valt would come by for a bit of a chat and all. But for now, the relaxing views of the hillside made Kenny sigh a little happily as he soaked up the sunlight, "Man, I still can't believe we've done a lot of things under the span of a few months. Like, we saved the Entertainment District, we managed to go on some great adventures, made a lot of good friends along the way, it... just feels so good honestly. Never thought we'd be doing any of this, really."Skadi couldn't help but giggle at this, "I never doubted us for a second, buddy. Between you and me, I think we make a pretty good team ourselves. Maybe someday, I'll be able to beat Valt-senpai, and I'll be the one throwing him into the lake myself, for one."
"Oh, don't remind me, Skadi." Kenny chuckled himself at that funny memory, and how utterly silly the both of them looked, "Remember? Dad was complaining my room back home still smelled of pondwater even after we got cleaned up. Besides, you've got plenty of time to stand toe-to-toe with Valt. Just... please don't throw in random friendly bets without asking me first for now on."
"But Kenny! They're fun! I even packed some paper plates and whipped cream if we get to spar again in the Infini-store!" Her comment prompted Kenny to check inside to see if she was telling the truth. Yes, she was. She just didn't know when to quit. "Oh, alright Skadi." He chuckled once more, "If we do happen to spar, just make sure you win this time, OK? I don't really want to get any cream over my jersey today." With that, he ruffled the giggling Valaismon's hair once more. That cheeky dag was much more clever than he gave her credit for, on and off the battlefield.

Well, looks like before the store even finished its set up, someone already trying to challenge the two? In friendly way obviously. Valt definitely overheard what Skadi said and inches closer to the duo, crossing his arms as he heard the two talking.
"...Oh, that's damn brave of a claim, don't you think?" he said finally as they said their piece. The towering XVmon commented as they seem to think of doing some betting. "Skadi, you got a tendency to run your mouth. I love you to pieces like a little sister but you know, such confidence could be your downfall... You're lucky that for five days real world time I'll be away as security for Aniki's shop, or I would have suplexed you for that cheeky comment." Valt ruffled his disciple's head he then turned and noticed the other two.
"Oh, Scarab and Hisato eh? Fancy to see you here! Do you want to grab something to eat? Here's the menu," Valt handed the two menus, he also handed another two at Kenny and Skadi. "Anyway, I'm going to set up some of the line. Looks like some customers are already here... Some are probably here to shit on the food for shit and giggles though, now that I'll try to fight... But eh, hope not."
With little over few minutes top open, Valt is standing beside a sign that says "CLOSED". He's anxiously looking at the clock, ready to flip the sign to "OPEN" anytime.
One rare sight? A Dokamon beside him. Who's that even?

That argument didn't really last very long, considering Scarab turned to catch a familiar sight in the form of...The quite literally sheepish Skadi and Kenny. Those guys. From the casino. That Gyo and that lewd goat trashed. Yeah. Those fellas. "Oi, earth to bug-brain." Hisato leaned down to tap the Wormmon on the head. "What?"
The teenager then gestured towards Valt and Ryouta, who had just noticed them. "Oh. Oh. Hey, thought we'd drop by for a bit. If you guys need any help around here, feel free to let us know." The Wormmon stated in a manner that would make most diplomats proud. Well, not really, but he was doing his best to be polite, you know? Even if they were friends.
"Also, we taking bets on the sparring?" Scarab uttered while Hisato went to take a seat, before...he noticed the Dokamon. "...Hey, Valt, who's your friend there?"

Normally, the sight of a giant Champion-level Digimon looming over them would be more than enough reason for Kenny and Skadi to jump onto the defensive. But as they turned to see the familiar visage of Valt, the friendly ExVeemon partner of Ryouta, and Skadi's senpai, they could only look up as he lightly, and playfully, scolded her for her comment, before ruffling the young Valaismon's hair, making her giggle once more affectionately, as she rubbed her head, and smiled up at her senpai.
Kenny couldn't help but chuckle himself, either, as when Valt left to address the blue Wormmon and the teen, the young man just smirked lightly at his partner, who turned to him, and added, "He's right, you know." If anything, at least he didn't have to get cream all over his jersey today, or in public, so that was a bit of relief. That Skadi just didn't know when to quit, didn't she.
Regardless, it seemed that at least Valt knew who the other 2 were, the boy Hisato, the Wormmon Scarab. And as they got their menus from Valt, just a few minutes before opening, the two nodded and smiled in thanks, before taking a look at what was available. Hopefully they didn't need to overthink about what they wanted to eat if it all sounded so good from description alone. But Kenny's eyes slipped away over to a certain other Digimon next to Valt.
It seemed Skadi noticed too, as she lowered her menu quickly to take a good look at the metal-gloved creature, "A Dokamon?"
"He looks pretty tough, honestly. Remind me not to end up on the business end of his fists." Kenny whistled lightly as he took a better look at the possible pint sized powerhouse.
"Don't worry. I'll make sure we stay on his good side, at least." She promised, before turning over to Valt once more as Scarab asked about the tiny teammate, "Yeah, he looks pretty interesting. Is he a new disciple of yours?" Of course it would be like Valt to essentially fish for new ones to add to his ranks, honestly. Just ask Ophelia.
And besides, as far as she was concerned, any new disciple of Valt was a friend of Skadi. Just ask Ophelia. Again.

"Oh you two want to volunteer to help?" Valt addressed the Wormmon and his partner "That's great, but I don't think Aniki would let you to get in the kitchen until he saw how good your cooking is. If you want, how about helping waiting the tables and whatnot? We're good on servers, but more people or two wouldn't be so bad. Also because this is informal venue, I don't think anyone would mind sudden volunteer... Oh, I guess I can also pay you if so you want!"
Sparring? "Oh, that's just... this girl here is my apprentice. She loves to make bets with me like 'if I win, I want to spray soda on your face', or that sort of bets, so yeah. Today I'll definitely abstain though. I got a lot of problem as is," Valt answered.
The Dokamon? "Oh this one is..."
"I'm Aniki's apprentice, -de wasu! Name's Azul!"
"...Actually, he's more senior than you, Skadi. But thing is, he has been severely injured at one point before your admittance... and I think he's also a bit more senior than Ophi too? Or maybe around the same time."
"I'm ashamed," Azul commented, downcasted.
"It's alright, bud. Anyway, he's fine after some rehabilitation. After he felt that he could fight normally now, he's here with me. Anyway, don't go asking him on a fight yet."

"Yeah, we're here to do 'good deeds' that are actually just helping spread the seeds of capitalism." Scarab nodded, as though this were likely one of the wisest things he had ever dared to put out of his insectoid mouth. Honestly, Hisato hadn't figured they'd be allowed to cook. Just wait tables and serve, which was probably the extent as to which he'd want to be involved in helping out.
Eeeeven if it was for, quote unquote, character building. "Oh, I get that. Bets would've been pretty fun, still. I think I've met her before, too. She seems like a good 'mon." Even if he didn't even know her name. It was understandable as to why spars were off the table for the moment. A restaurant's opening is some serious business.
Hisato raised his brow at the Dokamon. Admittedly, he hadn't seen this Digimon before, but his way of speaking was...interesting. "Why're you ashamed...?" He asked, before looking to Kenny. "I don't think he's about to punch anyone--if anything those arms seem more suited for heavy lifting...Or blocking stuff? I'm not sure."

Understandably, Valt had quite a job to do today, helping his tamer run the restaurant without a single hitch. Although as the ExVeemon explained about his apprentice here today, Skadi wasn't exactly afraid to pipe up, jutting her hand up into the air, "Actually, it was a pie in the- fmmmth!" Kenny quickly slapped her mouth shut, much to her dismay. Still, that mysterious blue Wormmon over there complementing her did put a smile on her face.
Upon hearing what Scarab had to say, Skadi turned her gaze towards the earthworm, "Hey, you guys! If you don't mind, maybe we could give you guys a hand as well? Maybe take the time to learn about each other too?" Kenny smiled and nodded as well. Those two did look really nice, and on a nice day like this? Well, why not? It wouldn't hurt to try.
As for the Dokamon over there, Kenny raised an eyebrow in interest, as did Skadi, as Valt explained the Dokamon - Azul - was one of his older apprentices, way before Skadi and even Ophelia put their foot through the door, but seemed to go through a nasty injury beforehand. The young Valaismon nodded in compliance to Valt, "Alright. I won't, Valt-senpai." She chirped to him.
Kenny could only give a little, self-depreciating chuckle over to Hisato as well on his remarks about Azul, "I know, man. He looks like a good guy. We've... just never really had the best track records concerning Rookie Digimon, is all. It's a long story." Skadi did look a little more downhearted as he said that, but she gave a sad smile. The memory and experience of the Arkadimon attack still lingered on for all those months, and those pink gummy scars still remaining on Kenny's chest was more than enough to remind them of the true dangers of Digimon in the wrong hands.

"Yeah pie in the face," Valt ruffled Skadi's head fur once again. "She need to calm down sometimes though, or maybe let me counter now and then with bet of my own. Though honestly, when it comes to betting I won't bet in something that I'm sure that I have no chance of winning."
Seeds of capitalism... "Well, hmn, if you want to be paid, what do you think would be nice for a part time worker like you two then?" Valt asked. "Frankly we're new to all of this. Something like a hundred bits per hour and whatever tips given to you I guess? Two hundred? Two hundred and fifty? Hmmmn."
Either way... looks like he got four helpers today. "Well, regardless, you guys will be paid individually rather than a set. Goodluck, although I don't expect that the first day going to be so full, considering we're still no name. I'm not sure how much Digimons would read Tamernet either."
As for Azul, looks like Hisato seem to be confused why he's embarrassed. "Because I have been a bad example of a senior disciple. Aniki and Oyabun, they have been very understanding of my wound and paid quite a lot for my recovery, and all I wished was to show something that would make them proud, but unfortunately as thing goes, I'm unable to do so. In fact,I got left behind very significantly."
"Being hurt for something that's not your fault and beyond your capability to defend against shouldn't be something to be ashamed of," Valt commented "Be at ease. At any rate, it's time to open the store."
And with that, Valt flipped the sign. Some customers already started to pour in. It's more relaxing pace at the moment thankfully. "Let's see... you four, you can either decide to change into the restaurant's uniform, or maybe just start waitering with what you have on, but just in case please wear this." it's pins... aptly made of silver and shaped like wing.
"That means you're part of the staff."

"I mean, you're not wrong. Bets are only fun if you can level one against someone and then they can level one back at you." Scarab snerked. Valt had a point, though. There was no point, no purpose to be found in just making a senseless and impossible bet.
On the subject of capitalism though, Hisato saw no need to beat around the bush here. "...I'll be honest, I don't know. Not only was I not expecting Scarab to go through with asking to help, I've also never done anything like this before." What'd be reasonable and not sound like some kind of entitled scumbag like the people they've talked about in the past? "...Hundred per hour sounds alright, though."
Perfect?
Either way, the teenager opted to lend an ear to the Dokamon. "Yeah, sometimes things happen that're beyond your control. No need to be ashamed of that. Plus, you have all the time in the world to catch up to them at your own pace." Assumedly. Hisato had no idea if this was the case, but it was a worthwhile thing to say at the very least. Perhaps Azul would enjoy the positive reinforcement.
Okay, that aside, it seems that the four were on the job. So, Scarab and Hisato opted to just slap that pin on and get to serving and waiting. Pretty simple stuff, but it was a lot for a student to get used to in Hisato's case.

With Valt and Scarab putting in their own two cents concerning Skadi's bad habits with her constant bet obsession (and Skadi happily bunting her head on Valt's hand in response to the hair ruffling affectionately), Kenny couldn't help but let out a little chuckle in response, "Honestly, I'm not sure why Skadi's so ridiculously keen to make bets with you at all, Valt, considering you pretty much hit like a truck, no matter the form. I mean, I remember when i was a kid, I wandered into a casino section in a local club just because I was curious, and all I got out of that was my dad lecturing me ad nauseum about how betting and gambling, period, was bad."
Skadi feigned guilt, "At least my bets are harmless! And fun!"
"Yeah, I'll give you that, but at least discuss them with me and Valt first, for now on! And try not to drag me into them willy-nilly. Like I said, I prefer my clothes actually salvageable, thank you very much." He winked to both Skadi and Valt, the former snickering mischievously in response. She just liked it when her tamer looked silly, sometimes.
But on the topic of Hisato's uncertainty with this voluntary job, Skadi was first to up and pat his leg reassuringly, "You'll be fine, buddy!" She pointed out with a smile, "And besides, if you or Scarab need any help with anything, don't be afraid to ask. Think of it as friends with benefits!"
Kenny just raised an eyebrow towards Skadi, "...Skadi, you do know what the term 'friends with benefits' actually means, do you?"
"Hm?" Upon Skadi's confused look and tilt of the head, Kenny leaned down and proceeded to whisper... something into the innocent Valaismon's ear, just to protect any wayward earlobes that happened to be a little too close for their own good. A light blush started to form upon her face, which only grew as Kenny continued further. By the time he was done, her face was practically luminescent, "...oh."
Kenny couldn't help but chuckle once more.
So, from what Kenny and Skadi could gather, Azul was pinning the blame on his own supposed 'failures' onto himself, and oh God, how badly Kenny could relate, considering he grew up in an environment where he was practically a scapegoat for pretty much anything that went wrong back in primary school. Something that was all too happy to follow him to adulthood to this day.
Still, Hisato was right. And Kenny smiled to the Dokamon reassuringly, patting the robotic reptilian on the back, "He's right, you know. I mean, bad shit does happen sometimes outside of your control, and let's be honest here, it can feel like complete and utter bullshit, but at least Valt here has your back. And hey, if you need any help, do give us a call, OK?" Just as he finished and backed away, Skadi had come over already, and was now opting to throw her arms onto Azul, giving him an equally reassuring hug and nuzzle.
After pulling away, turning to Valt offering to either get them to change into their uniforms or just wear the pins, while Kenny opted to put on the pin himself, he paused for a brief moment to think something over, eyeing Skadi for a second, before turning to Valt once more, "Hey Valt, can you nab a uniform for Skadi please, or at least something to cover up her wool up? I don't want her to accidentally get her wool over the food by mistake."
Skadi just glanced all over her incredibly woolly body for a good moment, before she nodded to Valt. After all, it would come as common sense that nobody would enjoy getting wool all over their food by complete mistake. It was best to nip it in the bud now instead of worrying about it later.

"Sometimes, daredevil exists," Valt answered "they don't care about winning or losing, or how strong the other party concerned is. They only care about how their adrenaline is pumped, quite much. Basically, they're fools... But then again I'm quite fond of fools who challenge their limits a lot. It's not like Skadi earned nothing with that bets from me after all. I told you these already, but I hate to lose... and that means I always seriously come at her, just to show her how the seniors do it."
Still... "Kenny, you probably should get two pair of clothes from now on, and everytime you're going close to me, you should wear one that you doesn't mind getting ruined in the process," Valt joked. "The dag really loves to make a bet, who knows what's after pie. Mud perhaps? Or maybe get that Capsule Facility. There should be a bathroom ready with it."
....There was a faux pas apparently. Valt merely grinned wryly.
"...Actually, now that I think of it, yen is similar to bits... so... right, actually I'll pay you 3000 bits per hour, that sounds more ideal." he nodded. That's more or less 30$ an hour. Considering that they'll work hard with just four of them though it'll be very ideal and fair for their wage to be that hard.
Dokamon... what is even a Dokamon? Mammalian? Cyborg? Reptile? Definitely not reptile though... felt more like Cyborg...
"I'll take your words to the heart, -de wasu," Azul commented gratefully. "But it's time for work, I'll try hard to be useful, -de wasu!"
"Don't overwork yourself, this is an order."
"Yes Sir!"
Uniform huh... "Why don't you go to the back, Skadi? See if you can ask Aniki for an uniform. I think he wouldn't mind. Anyway, chopchop!"
People already starting to order. Some prefer to sit on the table, another prefer to go directly to the counter to order, it's definitely quite slow at first, but it quickly picked up the pace.
"Today's goal is just to break even! Let's work!"
