Riding on the back of the motorcycle felt weird for Chinatsu. She didn’t exactly feel the wind crashing against her face, because she was wearing a helmet for one, and secondly due to Ryouta driving slow for the sake of his passenger. Since her legs were about as useful as a pair of long, wobbly noodles, using the foot pegs would be pretty pointless, so she decided to sit with her legs hanging from the side, while her arms were wrapped tightly around the man’s torso. That way it would be easier for Ryouta to get her off the bike when they reached their destination.
During their slow and steady, leisurely trip, China would take in the sights around them with awe, making note of every sign, every shop and every building she didn’t recognize. “Woah! I used to take this road to school and back every day. It’s changed a lot since then…” One had to wonder exactly when was the last time she’d been out there… or out of her house in general. “We’re almost there, big guy!” She informed Ryouta, although the sight of trees popping in the distance was a pretty clear sign already that they were approaching Shibuki Forest.

Shibuki Forest... have he been here again? There are too many blank spot in his mind, and it bothered him greatly. This amnesia that's just specifically about Digital World... the paths that he felt he vaguely took but does not remember... Hearing that Chinatsu remembered stuff that made her felt nostalgic sort of made Ryouta... slightly envious he guess. But even then, he guess there's more than meet the eye with the lady.
"Sorry for asking something that's... sensitive obviously, but I'm not good at reading the atmosphere either but... If you don't mind answering, what happened exactly to you?" he asked to the older lady.
From the sound of it, she's like a Hikki, but considering her condition, he definitely can understand why. Perhaps in this case, being a chosen might be good idea.
"The place that we're going to, there are some rumors regarding it. Some said there are ghosts in here. Though if there are any I would've seen them by now," Ryouta muttered. "...I'm always bad with supernatural stuff. Those kind of things just... got so up and close on your personal space... If you dare to answer their call, it'll be shit all over in many way."

It was only a matter of time before Ryouta addressed the elephant in the room, tactfully asking about Chinatsu’s disability. She sighed in response, nervously playing with a strand of her own hair. “It’s fine, you’re not being insensitive by asking. There’s no super sad sob story behind it either. I just happened to be at the wrong place, at the wrong time, the place being in front of a car’s headlights and the time being when its driver was totally hammered. I haven’t been able to walk since, but I’ve gotten used to it, so it’s more of an inconvenience really.” The woman claimed, though whether she really was okay with her condition or downplayed how much it truly affected her was up to conjecture.
The MeTuber then cracked a smile at the man’s superstition. “Believe me, I know all about the spooky ghost stories. I used to come here all the time… you know, before the accident. Don’t tell me a big boy like you is scared of a few ghosts?” Chi replied in a cheeky tone, her smile widening. She would wait for the bike’s engine to be turned off before letting go of Ryouta. “Alright, help me get down. We’ve got some exploring to do!”

"I see... Well, I guess in a way, Digital World does offer all sort of things that you may missed. Your wheelchair could be a floating type if so you want without you having to wheel it... electronic one definitely is also there... there are also braces that could strengthen your legs that will allow it to walk... granted I'm not sure if they'll work in real world, but... well, I guess you can say that my motorcycle also came from Digital World."
Ryouta dismounted from his motorcycle and takes out Chinatsu's wheelchair and set it back to its expanded form. "Well then..." he lifted her up then gently put her on the wheelchair. "We're here and all, I guess... would you like to get pushed or push yourself? Do you need any help or anything?"
It can't hurt to ask!
Him? Scared of few ghosts? "...Yeah," he answered bluntly. "When you're too young to understand that you can see 'stuff like that', you think they're just friends that got hurts and such, and you need to help them... but as you got older and you know what they are... that's the time where they noticed you understand more... and they would try to get you do their bidding, or use your body."
....And that's just the worst.
"...My grandmother was a Miko, and apparently she said I got my sight and sensitivity to "that" stuff because of it."

Ryouta, always being the gentleman, carried Chinatsu in his arms and helped her sit back on her wheelchair, before asking if she wanted him to push her around. “Thanks, but I think I can handle it for now. The ground looks flat enough to move on it at least.” The MeTuber gratefully replied, as she spun her wheels with her own hands, pushing herself forward. The brown soil was covered by a carpet of hundreds of fallen leaves, making for a relatively smooth ride indeed. The leaves rustled, cracked, or stuck underneath the wheels as she rolled past them.
As the bustling noises of the big city were gradually replaced by the more soothing sounds of the forest and its tiny critters, the wheelchair-bound woman contemplated Ryouta’s earlier suggestion about getting enhancements once she got to the Digital World. “Man, the more you tell me about this Digital World, the more I can’t wait to go there! Maybe I could get a rocket-powered wheelchair. If your motorcycle can still work in the real world, then a rocket-powered wheelchair should work here too. And if anyone asks me where I got it, I can just tell them it came from America.”
Things then took a turn for the spooky when the muscular youth admitted that he was able to ‘see’ supernatural things such as ghosts. Chi’s brown eyes widened at that. “H-hold on! You can see ghosts? As in real ghosts? So, not only digital monsters exist, but ghosts are real?! Wait… does that mean youkai and oni are real too? What about kaijus? Is Godzilla real?” She asked, her fear gradually turning into excitement at all the possibilities.

Well the lady's the boss in here, so Ryouta just let her be. However, parking in forest like this definitely would get him in trouble, so Ryouta flashed his Digivice to his motorcycle. The motorcycle, big as it was immediately reduced to particles and stored inside just like Valt prior.
"By the way, please check your Digivice. If it's really in here, then there must be some sort of dots on the map that shows the location of your totem."
Excited lady, huh? Well, Digital World is really place of wonder, but it's also place of danger. "...Hmmm, well, how to say, it's probably better if you have someone that can help you along with your journey. I don't mind helping, but... well, how to say... For best experience, it's best if you go with someone in the same level as you. Valt and I... we have reached penultimate form pretty much. That dragon you saw before? That's just his adult stage. He still got two more evolutions. Unlike Pokemon who only can evolve three times, in Digimons there are six stages, with the seventh being a 'legendary' form or sort."
Not many people believed in ghosts, and he definitely understood that. "...Well, yeah, and usually more at night than at day. Nowadays my sight has been weakened some, probably because I'm no longer pure like I was as a kid so to say, but... I can definitely see them. Cryptids are probably just Digimons. Bigfoot? Jungle Mojyamon. Yeti? Mojyamon. Oni? Probably Ogremon. Yokai? Well, there are Digimons who looked like Yokai too. That's why I'm less afraid of yokais and such compared to ghosts. I can simply say they exist because Digimon exist. But ghosts? Uh, that's different ballpark. Any justification I can think is 'their soul stranded between dimensions" and I'm not liking that sort of justification. Kaijuus are not real, and even if they're real they're probably Digimon, but there are no Digimon with size as huge as skyscraper... Well, Examon probably fits the bill, but that's damn rare. It's not the huge Digimons that you should fear most of the times. It's the smaller one but with power to destroy an entire city in few hours that you have to be afraid of."

Ah, another Digimon lesson, this time concerning power levels. Perhaps China should have taken a notepad to write all this stuff down after all. Regardless, the constant comparisons being drawn between Digimon and Pokemon made all that information much easier to take in. “Seven stages, huh? Sounds like a lot of work. Do Digimon level grind like RPG characters? How would I even go about finding someone at my own level? Is there a Tinder-like app made exclusively for Chosen people?” The otaku MeTuber asked half-jokingly.
Ryouta theorized that things such as cryptids and youkai were just Digimon sightings that were mistaken for something else. “Huh, that makes sense actually. Mojyamon, Jungle Mojyamon, Ogremon, Examon… do all of them have names that end in ‘mon’? That’s weird.” It was definitely something the newbie Digidestined would mull over sometime later, but for now it was far more important to find a way to awaken her spirit Digimon. She couldn’t call herself a real Spirit User without a spirit, after all.
Chinatsu pulled her colorful D-Tector out and inspected its small screen. “Hmm, no dots or maps for that matter. And yet, I can’t quite explain it, but… I feel like something is calling to me, guiding me into this forest. Maybe this isn’t a quest to find a totem, but a quest to find myself…” The wheelchair-bound woman mused, before turning her head towards Ryouta with a questioning look. “As the ghost expert here, what do you think? Is my spirit trying to tell me something, or is this the work of an evil ghost trying to lure me into a trap?”

"Living Digimons grows up by simply living, eating, training, and battling. I guess they're not really the same as RPG, in a sense... Battling is just a... one of the prerequisites for certain forms? Digimons forms are not linear. Even if you find a Vmon like Valt, there are chance that they shared different evolution line, different techniques, different way of battling...
In a sense, i guess Digimons have more style compared to Pokemon. Anyway, these are unique only to partnered and solo Digimons though. Digimons under Xros Generals need to fuse to goes to higher stage, and Spirit Users need to hunt for their totems to evolve to the next stage. However, if you ask what's the similarity between them it all boils to experience, I guess. You can't fuse your Digimons if you're not experienced enough, you can get your body hijacked by your spirits if you don't be careful, this is most prominent in Beast Spirit.
...As for how you find someone at your level, well... yeah that's almost impossible, but there are Tamernet. I wouldn't... rely on that though, all thing considered. They're a bit like 2ch at times, and well... it's accessible by all chosens, including ones with delusion of competence and hero syndromes, and at times bad ones."
How does all Digimon have their name ends in 'mon'?
"...Think it as their version of .exe I guess." Ryouta answered.
Ghost expert? Uh... "Digital Ghost and actual ghosts are slightly different. What you have is sort of a.... I wonder what's it called? Premonition? Or perhaps some sort of vague, oracle-y thing. I think rather than think about it too much, let's start by asking question if any of these are familiar to you... like, have you been here before? Try to retrace steps of what happened in the past I guess."

“The Xros General class sounds cool as heck, especially with the whole fusion mechanic, but I think the Spirit User class was the best fit for me.” Chinatsu said, using video game terminologies to make this information translate better in her own mind. She did play video games for a living, after all. “I mean, gaining the ability to walk again by transforming into a Digimon? Who wouldn’t want that? And whatever a Beast Spirit is, I’d love to have one of those too. I always wanted to turn my beast mode on!” She was apparently an American football fan too, conveniently ignoring the part about being hijacked by her own spirits.
“Tamernet, huh? I’ll make sure to check that out as soon as I get back home!” If Ryouta thought that Tamernet being a meme-infested cesspool would dissuade the otaku MeTuber from browsing there, then clearly he didn’t know her well enough. Meme-infested cesspools were practically her natural habitat!
Back to the task at hand, though, they needed to figure out why Chi’s spirit wanted her to go to Shibuki Forest. The answer was kinda simple to her, but it wasn’t something her Tamer friend would know about. “Like I said, I used to come here all the time when I was little. Me and my friends would play here and explore every corner of this forest, until our clothes got all muddy. We were like adventurers exploring unknown lands, or at least we saw ourselves that way. I was the only girl in our group, and being the most hyperactive and adventurous child made me the de facto leader. Then the accident happened and… no more adventuring for me.” The brunette explained, staring down at her own legs with a somber expression.

Someone really isn't listening the part about the spirit may take over her body huh... Well, he guess this is given due to the focus of being able to walk again... and that's fine... is it really though? Either way, Ryouta decided to just ignore that part too.
"Make sure to have your Digivice. I have no idea why, but it only can be accessed with Digivice or something like that. The authentication process probably need Digivice? Who knows. I'm not clear on those either."
Task on hand, well, it's fine and dandy to repeat what's already known, but that's not exactly what Ryouta meant. "Alright, I mean more to the fact that... maybe you should retrace the steps that you once took when you still could walk, and... well, enjoy the scenery I guess. My role today is to be simply your bodyguard, making sure that there are nothing funny going on.
...But your role I guess meanwhile to just feel what your spirits want. If it shows you these scenery, then I think only you can understand it. And when someone talking about a sight they only can understand, then there's no other way than to retrace the steps of old and felt the significance of it."

“My bodyguard, huh? That’s so sweet. I’ll definitely feel safer with you around.” Chinatsu said, smiling warmly at the musclebound teen. The part about retracing her steps she’d once taken got the wheelchair-bound woman to think, furrowing her brows and putting her hand on her chin. “Hmmm, retracing the steps of old… That’s easier said than done. I can’t exactly climb trees or jump on rocks like I used to be able to do. Although, come to think of it, there was that spot deep in the woods, which was kinda our hanging out spot.”
In a moment’s notice, China used her surprisingly strong arms to rotate her wheels as fast as she could, rolling all the way to the nearest tree, and ran her hand around its rugged bark, as if checking it for any marks. “Darn, no luck… We left clues around so that we knew how to get to our secret spot. Can you find any trees with arrows carved on them?” She asked for Ryouta’s help in this.

"Well, uh... First of all, can you tell me how old were you, and how tall you were approximately when you marked the tree? Because frankly, no offense and I don't mean to brag, but I'm quite tall for a Japanese. I think I might still growing taller even. So uh... I might need to crouch and see what's down you know?" Ryouta commented. "Though, I think I can ask Valt's help here..."
Valt immediately came out of the D-Nexus, and started looking together with the rest. For one, Ryouta divided the task to two. First he'll look at path that often traversed by people. Meanwhile, Valt looks at path that's rarely traversed by people. He's in the right height, so he probably could find it easier than Ryouta does. This idea is simply based on the fact that Ryouta most likely going to overlook it or something due to his height.
At any rate, the two helped to look, but made sure to not get separated too far from Natane. There's probably about 50 meter distance between them to her, enough for her to holler if she found something.

“I was eight and how the heck am I supposed to remember how tall I was?!” China replied, frowning in slight frustration, before sighing and scratching her head, while also sizing up the gargantuan teenager from head to toe. “Hmmm, I’d say I must’ve been about up to your waist in height, give or take… yeah, that sounds about right.” The former adventurer estimated.
Weird questions aside - and Chinatsu had no right to complain on that aspect - Ryouta was a big help, even bringing his partner Valt out to aid in the search for a marked tree. Chi, for one, was practically on the edge of her seat, frantically rolling from one tree to the next. “Nope, not this one… not that one either. Darn, just looking for it gets me all excited!” The MeTuber exclaimed, and her excitement soon bore fruit too, as she finally found what looked like a marked tree after several minutes of looking.
“Ryouta, Valt! Over here, this way!” She did holler to the two, while spinning her wheels as fast as she could, following the direction the arrow pointed her to. “Ooooh, I’ve found another one! We’re definitely going the right way!” Chi was firmly in hunting mode, barely even waiting for Ryouta and Valt to catch up, even though they probably would catch up to her anyway, all things considered.

"Well, an approximation would be nice," Ryouta countered. "After all, it's hard to look for the clue when you're significantly taller than an eight years old kid. But thanks for the approximation, that would make it easier for me." And with that, he crouched and looked for the trees, making sure to check on the back and the side that's facing the road. None of this so far huh?
"Valt how goes your side?"
"Eeeeh, nothing here either! I don't think that I'm in the right quadrant..." Valt commented.
Well, looks like despite the initial annoyance about having to remember something that's been so long forgotten to Chinatsu, she seem to be in high spirits trying to remember what happened in old times. And looks like she got it. "Hmmm, lessee?" Ryouta checked the tree that Chinatsu checked before. Oh, that's an arrow indeed. Come to think of it, he and his group of friend got this secret base too back in Nerima...
"...I think I'll go back to Hikarigaoka one day and just check on that secret base," Ryouta mused. He followed Chinatsu close from behind along with Valt.

Chinatsu spun the wheels of her wheelchair like a woman possessed, her excitement making her ignore the strain on her arms from spinning as fast as she did. Wet leaves got stuck on her wheels, slowing her down, but she pushed forward regardless. She felt like she was a little kid again, getting high on the thrill of adventure!
The deeper she advanced into the woods, the more something deep within her - a voiceless voice that only she could understand - was telling her that she was doing the right thing, that she was going the right way, to the point she didn’t even need to follow the arrows to navigate anymore.
Unfortunately, no road was without a hurdle… As the pathway became narrower and the sea of trees was gradually replaced by rock formations here and there, the hurdle in their road was a large, uprooted tree blocking their only way forward. “Crap… what do we do now?” China cursed under her breath. The trunk was covered in moss too. It would be very difficult for Ryouta to climb it, especially if he also had to carry a person in his arms.
It was then that the energetic MeTuber came up with another brilliant idea. “Yo, Valt, turn into a big dragon again! You should be able to move this thing outta the way with ease!” She called out to the approaching Veemon.
