MPC Name: Mistletoe Melee MPC Number:69A Reward Requested: Posts "A Dreadful Christmas Story..."It was that time of year. As everyone in the human world was starting to celebrate the holidays-- it was time for them to do the same in Nexus. As the location had been launched and people from all over the world began to come in... it was only natural to decorate. In the matter of a night, Nexus had a far more decorative theme suitable for the season. The digital sky now had snowfall down, but not chilling to the touch-- except for the icy Digimon who liked it. Snow caked on the grassy grounds and the trees were replaced with evergreen pines decorated with snow and magical lights. The chime of music also filled the air, making everyone feel merry. While many Digimon didn't know much about the holidays, those in Nexus would get a first-hand example as Nexus soon threw a city-wide Holiday party. Everyone in the center square was in high celebration with copious amounts of food, music, games and other entertainment. A Mediamon DJed it-- since there was no way they would let Geckomon near the mics Everyone in Nexus was there... including Blackwargreymon who was the poster child of the Digi-grinch. Among them was Zachary as he looked around, seeing the large Christmas tree, and decorations everywhere. " It feels a bit like cheating... considering Jeremy just did all this with a push of a button," Zachary murmured as he drank some hot chocolate. Panthermon was nearby sitting on one of the stone benches and laid there leisurely as he watched the party and Digimon run about. " This stuff confuses me. I really don't get it. You celebrate a holiday about a child not even born at this time, then mesh traditions all together so people will accept it, give gifts and feast. Why do so many celebrate this?" the cat said grumpily. It seemed many Digimon leaned towards the Grinch-fever. Zachary glanced at his partner. " If you want me to be direct with you, at the end of it all it is to celebrate friends, family, goodwill towards all during the darkest and coldest times of the year. That's what appeals to so many." he said in an informative tone. The cat looked around with a new interest as he saw how many people were now happy with all the festivities. " I see... I guess it's hard to grasp when your a jungle cat where it is always warm," he said. " Yeah, that's the takeaway here..." Zachary replied sarcastically as he took a sip from his cocoa. WC: 429

Winter Solstice, Christmas, Yule... whatever culture, spiritual circle of mere name claimed these festive times for themselves had never been of concern to Cion. Throughout the ages, solely her family and friends had been of importance during the holidays. The celebration of mutual affection and appreciation was a wonderful concept to the silver fennec, even if it was often enshrouded by ludicrous commercialism and bizarre competitions for the best presents. Such materialism, for someone whose heart was already beaming with the love of her kin, was utterly purportless.
Regardless, to assure she would see rapt grins on the faces of her beloved nephews and nieces, extravagant gifts were of course prepared. However, before the well-heeled aunt was ready to leave the base of Nexus for Rosewood, a couple of hours remained for her to savor the view and ambiance. Mostly serving as a mentor for the young, insecure and inexperienced members and visitors these days, the ancient sentinel had found contentment in her role as an adviser to the leader of the organization - Zaber.
Oddly enough, it was this dreamy, overambitious lad who had successfully allowed her to regain a sense of individual and universal realism. It had taken great mental effort, plenty of adventures and many moments of self-reflection to recognize and cast aside her frenetic pursuit of global perfectionism, but she had done so eventually. Though knowing that there was a lot of darkness in the digital world, light prevailed to guard its fosterlings nonetheless. And perhaps, with unyielding dedication, her dreams for a better future were possible to become a reality. No matter how long it took, the improvement of everyone's lives was a worthwhile goal to pursue - naturally with moderation.
Once again lost to her thoughts, the restrained Arniomon's ears ultimately peaked upon hearing the voices of aforementioned boy and his nameless partner. Evidently they were arguing, as they did routinely. Chuckling, she wondered whose side she had to pick on this illuminated evening. Thankfully, given that it was rather rare, it was easy for her to support Mr. Scyrer's esteem for communities and bonds. "Verily." She chimed in, gladly displaying her agreement with a confident smile and her signature ladylike poise and grace.
Slowly yet purposively striding towards the duo, she folded her arms and too beheld the humongous tree in the center of this upcoming festivity. Although automation indeed undid some of the joy of Noel, Cion was nevertheless glad that she did not have to contribute to this party in a physical way. Taking care of one undertaking was arduous - perish the thought what two could do to anybody. "Don't be silly, dear. You're as much a jungle cat as I live in burrows." She quipped with a kind chuckle; obviously finding the comparison between digimons and Earth's animals to be far-fetched at best.

"Hey Cion, Happy Holidays," Zachary responded, seeing the little white Digimon come up to them. Her comments and support were appreciated. "Believe me, I know things can get silly with the commercialism of it all, but at the end it's about having some fun and enjoying the season. " He replied.
By then, Cion might notice a potential 'risk' in the room. Up above where they were, Zachary had ignored that his position in that part of the room had him a hair's length from the mistletoe that hung high above. Some might not have noticed it. Least of all Zachary whose gaze was more on what was in front of him than above him. Cion would see due to her lack of height.
By that time... some of the other Digimon from Nexus began to make their way in-- some in interest of the merriment, others for the food since even grinch-mon need to eat. Coming in was Blackwargreymon, the master of the Nexus arena. The other one was Gankoomon, the more cheerful one. They both acted as Nexus' teachers for training in battle but also as vanguards should the place come under any kind of threat.
The mistletoe clearly was something different to Digimon, but Zachary had no clue and even Panthermon would have no clue about that small detail as he was technically a new species of Digimon.

"Happy Holidays to thee as well, Mr. Scryer." Cion replied with vociferous kindness, obviously glad to return the pleasantries she received from those she considered acquaintances and friends. Oddly enough, the lad's partner appeared rather reluctant to respond to her jest, though that was hardly surprising given his unperturbed, somewhat serious nature. Shrugging, she simply decided to drop the topic and instead focused on what her interlocutor sought so say. Ultimately and as stated before, it was easy for her to agree with the sentiments that were voiced. Affection was always worth celebrating.
Noticing the people beginning to fill the local, she was slightly surprised to see the nameless Blackwargreymon and Gankoomon joining the festivities as well - Although mostly due to the former guardian. Then again, after a brief moment of contemplation, their presence made perfect sense. Who else to assure a smooth flow of this event than the mightiest warriors of Nexus - excluding her as the adviser for everyone on every matter of course. However, she had no intention of bragging, nor - perish the thought - regard them as something less then her. Such brazenness was utterly unbecoming for a lady of her grace and poise.
Speaking of negative things, it was at this point that the restrained Arniomon indeed noticed the mistletoe looming over her pupil's head. Among the entire population of digimons who traversed this realm, she was one of the few who were ancient and sufficiently well-versed to know that this piece of flora was not meant to indicate a potential challenger. After all, it was trivial to conclude that fighting during these times of love and kinship was ridiculous. A good kiss she certainly preferred any day. Yet few had her ken, hence she knew that she had to act fast, but with tact.
Focusing her volition, the unassuming ascendant chose to utilize an extremely weak form of her ability to warp space-time. "Don't move - keep quiet - trust me, please." Cion instructed hastily and in hushed whispers. Hopefully, the student was once again willing to heed his mentor. A faint, barely translucent aura engulfed the boy and her eyes. Softly lifting him an inch off the ground, it was her desire to place him only a couple of important steps away from potentially grave danger.

Zachary was blissfully ignorant as he drank his cocoa, just admiring the party while Panthermon continued to lounge where he was. The black cat had just been looking around with his head resting on his paws despite the noisy party. He didn't even feel the first shift of things at first while Blackwargreymon soon passed-- but by then that he passed, he heard CIon's voice.
It was soft as a whisper but almost in Zachary's head, almost similar to how Panthermon used Telepathy with Zachary. Or so he thought since it was so quiet. "Huh? What?" Zachary gasped, startled by the sudden shift. He moved accidentally back and out of Cion's protection.
He didn't understand why or for what reason, but he was startled by the sudden shift, even though it was from Cion's own doing. He didn't realize why, but he did dodge the bullet from Blackwargreymon. He passed by to join the rest of the party. He probably wouldn't of cared for it or the mistletoe-- maybe. He enjoyed any legitimate reason to fight with someone who could be a challenge with him. It was a miracle he was even among their ranks considering what a loner he was when they first met.
However...
"A-HA! My Dear friend, Zaber! " a grand voice bellowed from behind them. Zachary froze at the sound of the deep, overly chummy tone as he turned his head to find the overbearing, tall human-looking Gankoomon. One would presume he was human if not for his ripped and large size, black body suit, armor, jacket and digital visor he wore. He bore a broad smile as he greeted the smaller boy.
Panthermon growled-- or groaned--, knowing this Digimon was annoying as he was strong.
"A lovely celebration of companionship, joy and justice!" he said happily.
"Justice has little to do with it," Panthermon replied briskly.
It was then that he glanced up and soon saw it-- Zachary had yet to see it. The mistletoe hung overhead and he beamed brightly. "Huzzah! Look above, fellow teammate! " he announced that made a few turn in surprise.
"Huh? " Zachary said, not sure, as he looked up to soon find the Mistletoe. At first, he didn't get it till he realized what it meant. He would look at the Mistletoe, then Gankoomon, then Cion, then his expression went wider as his already overactive imagination began to put things together. "Whoh! Whoh-whoh-whoh! Forget it!" Gankoomon did give off 'that' kind of vibe, as Zachary began to back up with his hands extended out to seperate space between them.
"Ah, I had wanted to test your mettle. Let us embrace the territory thatn only MEN can tread!" he said, cracking his knuckles into his fist to loosen up.
"What-- NO! Hell no! That is one place I wan't nothing to do with!" Zachary shouted.
Some laughed as they saw the display going on with one of their senior members. Panthermon, however, growled and placed a paw over his eyes.

Oh dear goodness... why did the lad so often refuse to heed her advice and trust her actions? All Zaber had to do was remain still and let her fix the issue that was his current position. Neither pain nor exertion on his part were involved in this brief undertaking. But even that was too much to ask - an unpleasant reminder of the many endeavors in which her words had fallen on deaf ears. The sole thing keeping Cion's frustration at bay was the success of Nexus, but sometimes she felt as if her ken, once cherished, was dismissed these days.
Thankfully, the BlackWargreymon was savvy enough to grasp that clashing with his superior, and a frail human for that matter, was insane and moved on. Letting out a sigh of relief at first, her intention to explain to the boy what was going on was prevented by the sudden appearance of Gankoomon. The brawny digimon was without doubt a handsome, chummy and upstanding individual, but regrettably also a bit daft. Usually, that was of absolutely no concern and added to his charm, but tonight this was rather detrimental. Everyone had seen the mistletoe - it was already too late.
Though somewhat upset that she was ignored, Mr. Scryer's problem at hand was far more urgent than adequate mannerisms and politeness. Biting her lower lip, she hastily contemplated an idea on how to dissolve the situation that both parties likely misunderstood. Although destined to be an amusing memory, she preferred to avoid an escalation and conflict. Fortunately, the atypically holy knight provided her, accidentally so, the perfect assist to set the record straight.
"Excuse you." The vulpine fennec spoke vociferously, yet with her signature calm and poise in her voice and stance. Folding her arms, the bipedal, small fox gave the Virus Buster a piercing, disapproving glance before hovering upwards to meet him at eye level. "Would you care to repeat what you just said?" She continued firmly with a raised eyebrow, curious to see if the muscular, admittedly powerful Mega had the guts (or inanity) to insult her like this again.
Despite being a lady of grace, she was at least sevenfold the man he was. Or had he forgotten that...?

Gankoomon looked to find Cion closeby. Due to his height it was hard for Digimon like him to notice the smaller ones at times till spoke up. At her words, he caught the smoldering anger that came off at her. Though his eyes were not visible, he soon realized his misinformation in the presence of the young woman Digimon. "Ah! My apologies, madam!" he said in an overly gentlemanly way. "Allow me to rephrase. Zachary join me in a spirited embrace of our fighting spirits to clash, bump and grind to push echother to new heights!"
Zachary grimaced even worse as he backed up. One way or another, it sounded just as bad to him personally. "AM I FREAKING MISSING SOMETHING HERE?!" Zachary shouted, his cool lost in the face of the seemingly pushy Gankoomon.
"In the Digital World, the act of Mistletoe is a challenge for two Digimon to battle and prove our worth to one another. So come, noble Zachary, let us face this destiny together like men!"
The message was clearer now, but still-- Zachary repelled the idea just as strongly. A human, fighting a Super-Mega or Ultra Level Digimon was suicide! Once again he held his hands out in opposition. "Whoh-whoh-whoh! No way! Forget it. You'll cream me. Literally. I'd be a smudge on the floor! Besides, that isn't what mistletoe means on Earth!"
Gankoomon paused with a look of confusion now, a brow raised despite his visor. "Really? Hmm... the differences between the Digital World and Human world continue to fathom me. What does it mean then?" he asked, his exuberance calmed down enough to allow more to discuss.

In a bizarre sense, the redraft of the nameless Gankoomon's previous statement actually soothed Cion's chagrin. There was no doubt that she appreciated genuine apologies and displays of courtesy. Smiling contently and nodding approvingly, it was only after a few seconds that she realized her mistake, recognizing that her own feelings were not of concern during this endeavor. Mr Scryer was by chance still in grave danger, for a human was simply incapable of physically engaging a Mega. Biting her lower lip, she witnessed the situation unfolding, contemplating another idea on how to avoid a clash.
Thankfully, though filled with vociferous shouts, anxiety and confusion, Zaber's words eventually reached the brawny guardian of Nexus, causing him to refrain himself from stepping outside and dealing likely lethal injuries to the poor lad. Fortunately, the question the Holy Knight posed was one that the composed fennec was capable of answering with ease. Turning to him with her signature poise, she pointed at the mistletoe to focus the attention to the object and away from Zachary.
"It's a symbol of affection. Those standing beneath it are encouraged to share a kiss - usually between males and females. But as you know, digimons don't have genders - at least not in the way humans understand. That is perhaps why its meaning was changed to something every digital creature knows instinctively - combat." She explained calmly and kindly, hoping this explication sufficed to end the encounter peacefully.
Speaking of which - why in the dimension has Shadow not intervened?

Zachary calmed down a bit as Cion once again intervened, and this time he didn't move. Gankoomon was confused by this, all the while as others watched or continued with the party. Blackwargreymon didn't really care, just chilling on his own. The same sort of attitude was adopted by Panthermon as he sat there, trying to stay out of the somewhat more comical than a dangerous affair. Gankoomon hummed in thought as he stroked his chin with a hand. Zachary felt a bit more relaxed at the fact he got a grasp why the Mistletoe was actually was and perhaps he would back off... " I see, interesting. Since we are in Nexus, we must honor both traditions somehow," he thought aloud, and then beamed broadly with a smile. " I know what we must do!" Zachary's face froze with grim fright at the sudden exuberance returning to Gankoomon. In a sudden surge of energy Gankoomon suddenly had, the energy of his inner spirit, which was known as "Hinukamuy" manifested. It was only as flames, then it condensed into his body. Finally, the eruption of energy caused his jacket to just 'tear' apart with a bulge of his muscles, now half-naked by only the black outfit he wore, and still wearing his mask. Gankoomon became his powered up Xth form, Gankoomon X... which only made his more manly and overpowered macho look even more obvious. " We must embrace both cultures in a spirited bout of competition and passion between us! Come, Zaber! Let us Celebrate this time of brotherhood and companionship by embracing with vigorous strength and sealing our bond with this gesture of your world! " He declared, his bare broad arms trying to grab him embrace him into an overly manly, sweaty hug. " Eh..." Zachary squeaked and quickly ran right out of his grasp. " NOOOOOOOO!!!" he screamed as he ran. Zachary quickly ran around the party, chased by the now half-naked Gankoomon. The big Digimon intended to wrestle him into 'submission', and clearly Zachary didn't want to be near arm's length of the guy in this state. The entire party stopped at the humourous site of Gankoomon chasing Zachary around the party, dodging and weaving through people and tables. Some the big guy wove around, or jumped, and others he just plowed right through. " Get the hell away from meeee!!" Zachary screamed. " Don't be shy, Zaber!" Gankoomon said with joyous bellowing, " Let us embrace the cultures of both worlds as Nexus intended!" " This is NOT what I intended! " Zachary screamed as he ran. " Panthermon-- HELP ME!!" All the while, Panthermon had been ignoring the silliness with his 'uncaring' gesture of resting on the atrium of the party. He watched for a bit, but realize he too... didn't want to come near this with a 10 foot poll. With a glance to Cion, he spoke aloud. " I think I am going to take a cat nap," he said and prowled away from the party. " What-- you traitor! Panthermon, come back!" Zachary cried, his tone more comical than scared. " Yes-- Come back, Zaber! Face your destined adversary like a MAN! Gankoomon X declared, either the intent to fight Zachary into submission or manly hug and kiss-- probably both. Twas the Night before Christmas and all through Nexus, Zachary was on the run from Gankoomon, throwing a fuss. END.
