The following is a public service announcement approved by Neo-DATS, the Terminus City Council and Cerix Corp™. No Digimon were harmed in this production. All actors are above Rookie level.
“... do I really have to wear this? This is so uncomfortable.”
“Ms. Himura, we’re live!”
“Oh shit! Uuuh… hello there!” Yuko greeted the theoretical audience, smiling nervously towards the camera. She was standing in front of a plain white screen in a filming studio, while clad in a simple white dress shirt, a grey office skirt, tan-color pantyhose and low heels. Her usually wild hair had been tied neatly into a ponytail, while her piercings had been taken off before filming, leaving her face riddled with tiny holes. “I’m Yuko Himura, a human, age sixteen. I come from the human world, from a city called Shibuya in the country of Japan. I am a Digimon Tamer.” Her speaking pattern felt forced and unnatural, as if she was reciting lines from a script she had memorized and had been put together at the last second.
“And I’m Jokermon, Yuko’s partner. I am a Digimon partnered with a human.” The camera panned to Jokermon, who likewise was clad in a simple grey suit with a black necktie. Granted, his face was still painted like a clown and he was still wearing his trademark jester hat. Regardless, this was probably the most prim and proper getup he had ever worn. “And we’re here to tell you all about what it means to be Digidestined… Quiet you! Apologies, that was the director just now telling me that the legal term is Chosen People, but that’s so generic and gender neutral. Digidestined sounds much more fabulous!” The eccentric jester said, shooting a sideways glare to somebody who was off-screen.
“Moving away from the script already, huh?” Yuko whispered at her partner.
“The Demon King follows no script. I am the master of improvisation!” Jokah haughtily claimed.
“We are SO getting fired after this…” The teenage Tamer lamented to herself. For the time being, all she could do was keep smiling for the camera, as she held up her purple and red Digivice for everyone to see. “Have you found a mysterious device like this? This is a digital device called a Digivice. Having this means that you are a Chosen Person.”
“Digidestined!”
“No!”
“You can’t run away from destiny! OW!”
After kicking Jokermon’s shins, Yuko carried on. “Aaaanyway, it means that soon you’re gonna meet your own Digimon partner, or if you are a Spirit User, transform into a Digimon yourself. It might be exciting at first to find out that real monsters exist. You might wanna tell it to all your friends, share it on social media, post pictures of your Digimon online, or make a MeTube video about it. That’s wrong!” She emphasized, making an ‘X’ sign with her arms. “Humans are not supposed to know about Digimon’s existence, unless they are Chosen People.”
“Digidestined!”
“NO!”
“Destiny, destiny, destiny… OW!”
After stomping on Jokermon’s foot, Yuko turned back to the camera, trying her best to keep a smiling face. “If humans found out about Digimon, it would be bad, because humans are horrible and they ruin everything. What do you think the government would do to your Digimon partner if they found them out? Refer to the two masterpieces of American filmmaking, E.T. and the Iron Giant.”
“Those movies made Yuko cry when she was little, you know.” Jokah added with a wide smile.
His Tamer shot him an angry glare. “Shut up! The point is Digimon would be in big trouble. Human scientists would run tests on them, dissect them, even kill them!”
The scene transitioned to a dark room, with Jokermon strapped onto a surgical table. “Ohohoho! What will you do to me, gentlemen? I have to warn you, I’m quite ticklish~” The flamboyant jester said with a big smile and giddy laughter, however his expression changed into one of horror, as a pair of disembodied hands loomed over him, carrying sharp, menacing-looking surgical tools. “W-wait, what are those things? Oh no… Nooo! NOOOOOOO!!!”
