"Home I'll be."
Ophelia, frankly, was a little glad that she had hung onto that Araidne's Thread, from the camping mission. It felt like that mission had been forever ago, and Ophelia might've not have had the fondest of thoughts over it - the incident with the Salamandamon being what came to mind primarily - but... A certain wanderlust had her craving to visit the island once more, if only so that she could once more familiarize herself with the parts of the island that she didn't get to see before the mission started up anew, given that Tetsu and Gryz were likely to call upon her once things got sorted out. And for returning to the island in record time? Well... The little ball of thread proved quite convenient for just that.
As soon as Ophelia was at the Spears of Megiddo, though, she would begin to wander amongst the wilderness; taking in the sights, the smells, the sounds... Though she was moving rather aimlessly for the most part, she was also making a vague meandering towards the volcano that took up the center of the island; its tall peaks easily being visible thru the peaks in the canopy. For the time being, that volcano was what she really wanted to explore. She didn't exactly feel like visiting Akala, and as much as she enjoyed a good fight, she didn't want to agitate Gajuma's tribe either. Which, unless she wanted to wander through jungle for the majority of this visit, left the volcano; the same volcano that Bero had explored briefly, once before, that day.
The mountainside that made up the volcano was hot, craggy, and rough; and while it wasn't anything Ophelia couldn't handle - a sheen of frost over her fur keeping her cool - the heat was still irritating to deal with, and she could only maintain the frosty veil that protected her for so long before they'd have to descend. The smell, too, wasn't anything to scream home about; dusty and dry, with the slightest smell of sulfur here and there. Occasionally, she'd pick up the scents of other digimon who wandered the mountainside; though they were typically old and stale, nothing to really worry about.
The sights, though, were certainly something else; once she got high up enough to peer over the tops of the trees, it felt as though she was on top of the world, for the briefest moment. She could see out a respectable distance, being able to even catch a glimpse of the ocean beyond; the sunlight glittering off the surface... She'd have to take a second to take a few photos of the view; wanting to remember this for some time.
Cassie wouldn't be coming with her on this trip, though. She felt that the environment of the volcano was just too dangerous for the little seal, given that she lacked any proper way of cooling off, and Ophelia - admittedly - was mostly doing this brief trip for herself. However, this wasn't to say that Ophelia was necessarily alone in this trip. Glancing up ahead the path that they were taking, Ophelia would peer over to her travel companion; calling with a lopsided grin "See anything cool up ahead, bud?"

“I have no urge to be called ‘bud’ by you, Spadamon.” Full of venom as ever, it was a miracle anybody had the patience to hang around with him. Apparently, becoming powerless, albeit being a darklizardmon, had not helped the pissant digimon’s temper at all. He seemed calmer in the way he moved, but still did not shy from slinging any kind of insult. The black flames slowly flickered, heatlessly, as if it were fire-shaped fur instead of proper fire. He was subtle, among the crag and grey of rocks, his dark flames somehow were a little harder to notice.
Bero walked by Ophelia and looked around. The hint of sulfur indicated that there should be something close, but there were not 200°C spots for his eyes to sense from this point, even as he looked around. “There is nothing of note anything near yet. But that slight rock inclination could be a cave entrance, or just some unstable earth.”
You’d have to be an idiot to walk there on your own to see what it is, whatnot with the risk of being crushed by a rock. Bero knew that Ophelia was exactly that kind of idiot though, so he saw no harm in her being the more… willing one to do the dangerous exploration.
Bero’s eyes scanned around just as much as Ophelia’s did, but he had a slightly higher vantage point. Whereas her fur was covered by a thin layer of frost, which had a craggly but shiny gleam to it, Bero’s black fire was light-absorbing, almost a black spot amongst the sunlit crag and earth. If it weren’t for his makeshift stealth code, he’d be sticking out like a sore thumb within the daylight. His sneaking had definitely been more effective within the jungles than on the volcano. His helmet, despite the code, gleamed with the various pastel rainbow colours it had. Whenever Ophelia would act nice with him, the helm would shine a little brighter, having a bit of it’s own glow. Regardless if she chose to walk towards the small formation he pointed out or continue on the path directly up the volcano, he would follow, for now.

Even with the venom, Ophelia didn't seem to take offense to Bero's response; simply chuckling a bit. The flaming digimon was as angry as ever, it seemed; even with the new look he had, and the calmer demeanor that he moved with. For a brief moment, the Spadamon had considered calling him 'pal', and every variation thereof, just to tease him a little; but... She figured that she'd rather not try to test him too much. Even if she could match his strength easy in the event that the two of them came to blows, she didn't want to torment him or piss him off (or, at least, piss him off more than he probably already was.)
So, for the meantime, she'd simply walk at his side; peering around, just as he was, for any signs of anything of interest. It didn't seem that Bero was having any more luck than she was, but... As he'd point out an inclination, up ahead, the lioness would perk up; ears pricking upwards, and tailtip twitching. "Heh; let's check it out, then. Good eye, Bero!" She'd chirp; grinning confidently in his direction, before hopping up ahead.
Even if the ground was indeed unstable as Bero might suspect, Ophelia trusted in her sense of balance as a feline, as well as her understanding of avalanches, from her early days in the Terabyte Mountains. Additionally, even if that wasn't enough; she'd have a few tricks up her sleeve for keeping safe. Namely, her Azure Fang; the artifact shaped into that of a short spear, that she would be using like a walking stick; digging the point of it into the earth beneath her, for an added little bit of traction. Even though she had initially made the artifact to be a weapon, she couldn't help but feel encouraged to find other creative uses for it; the artifact being far more versatile than she'd ever expect, really!
As she did walk on towards the inclination in question, though... She'd glance back at Bero for a few moments, peering at the helmet in particular. "Y'know, you've got a pretty damn neato digivolution, Bero. Though, I was wondering... What's up with the helmet? Is there anything special to it, or is it normal for DarkLizarmon like you?" She'd question; glancing ahead as she neared the inclination. It had been something that she was wondering for awhile - having not really asked the DarkLizarmon about it, until now. Having not seen other DarkLizarmon before, she couldn't help but wonder if the helmet was natural to them or not - given that the rainbow gleam to it seemed almost out of place, against what was supposed to be a 'dark' digimon. Hm...

Bero was wholly unsurprised at her chirping up and moving ahead. He muttered to himself ‘just as I predicted…’ there really was nothing she’d do to surprise him. Although, he supposed that was just doomly foretelling of a moment that she’d do something so undoubtedly stupidly courageous that he’d be surprised even if he saw it coming and predicted it right now. Well, at least he was prepared to be surprised, in some way or another.
Bero cast her a disinterested gaze, which changed into a sneer of raw fury the moment she mentioned the helmet. The helmet glowered even more to accompany the sneer. “Oh, it’s special alright. A special piece of corrupted data, that is.” His steps no longer had a sneaky aura to them, his body suddenly outstretched, to its meager human sized full height, and he set a few heavier steps as he walked past her to the inclination. It was apparently a touchy subject, and his irritation made it glow hot white, combined with the sunlight, the pastel colours were unrecognizable by now.
His heavy steps were still somehow careful though, as he had evaded multiple wobbly rocks and managed to take a surprisingly stable route upwards. It wasn’t the most stable, but it was made with estimated steps and eyework. Arriving at the inclination and looking around, the gleaming of his helmet subsided a bit. There was what seemed to be a sort of cave entrance at first, but it was just a small alcove that was only a few feet into the volcano side. It looked much cooler, but it wasn’t what Bero was looking for.

As Bero reacted with anger, at Ophelia's question, she'd blink a bit; geez, was there anything they could talk about without him being pissed over something? The Spadamon would decide to simply drop the subject right there as the larger DarkLizarmon prowled past; tailing right behind him up the rocky path. Still, even after dropping it, she still couldn't help but wonder what the helmet was about - and the fact that it seemed to be a sore spot for Bero, and was described as a 'special piece of corrupted data', only raised further questions.
Though she wasn't quite as careful as Bero was, there was still a certain practiced hue to her movements as she ascended upwards; her feline grace aiding well to her balance and leaping between the more stable spots. Even when she'd nearly slip - "Heck!" - she'd be able to dig her Azure Fang into the ground to stop herself from falling, and practically vault herself to better footing. Upon reaching properly stable ground, she'd glance over to Bero, and - assuming that he was watching - she would give a humorous grin in his direction; amused at her own brief misstep.
Regardless, once they reached the incline, it'd quickly become apparent that this was not a cave - but instead just a simple alcove, sheltered from the baking sun above. Ophelia would duck into the alcove, both to cool herself off a bit, as well as to sniff the air a little; idly curious about any potential scents around here. "Damn; looks like there's pretty much jack shit here..." She'd murmur to herself; quirking her lips a little. Guess they'd have to keep looking, to find anything of interest...
... Though, at least this seemed like a good spot for a breather, given the cool shade, if Bero was willing. Glancing in the DarkLizarmon's direction, she'd ask him "Wanna stop here for a minute? Or keep going?" She was confident in her ability to keep going; though breaks were always nice.

Bero barely even looked back as she had to struggle to keep up. He couldn’t care less for a moment, as the rage needed some time to cool off. As she arrived, he did his best to evade looking at her, to no real avail, catching her grin and trying to ignore it. She commented on how there’s nothing around, to which Bero couldn’t help but shrug. It seemed true, yes.
She asked him for a break, to which he raised an eye. It’s not like they had been fighting… but in truth, he was never as resilient to the blaring sun as he’d like to admit, and losing his fire powers did not make him deal with environmental temperature issues any better. “It’s not like we’ve been doing any fighting. But alright. Just so we don’t do anything stupid from heat data corruption when we actually see the magma.”
He was still somewhat excited to see the magma. If anything, the strongest heats in the world gave him hope that his power wasn’t beyond saving. Clinging to that hope allowed him to gain energy, which he channelled into anger.
At first, he simply stood against the wall, his mind brewing with things as he stood in the shade. His helmet periodically glowed, often accompanied with a slight change in his expression or eyes. There was a fury deep inside, stronger than his rookie form had ever had. If Ophelia would leave him to his own devices for a second, his rage may eventually incline him into doing something strange...

Ophelia shrugged a bit, at Bero's comment. "Yeah, I just ain't adapted to the heat. Frost Veil's been doing nicely in keeping me cool; but it's exhausting maintaining it 24/7." She'd remark casually, as she moved for the alcove; sitting against the cliff side. Thick fur and metal armor weren't exactly conducive to keeping cool; though she was reluctant to remove her armor, in the event that they crossed paths with any ornery Digimon. She wanted to be combat-ready; especially if the digimon in question ends up being something quite fearsome.
In leaning back against the alcove, in the shade, though... Ophelia would pull out her D-Nexus; bringing up the map function it had. She didn't typically rely on it too much, with her own sense of direction; but the fact that it was able to map and scan the area around them was nice for preventing from getting lost, as well as seeing how far they've come. She would also pull out a bottle of water that she had picked up, before their trip out here; taking a few gulps from it.
Once her thirst was slaked, she'd glance over to Bero - about to offer him some water, too - but... She'd notice that something was starting to brew up, some. The Spadamon would only quietly watch for a couple of seconds, at first; watching the slight changes in his expression, and the pulsing glow of his helmet, before she'd decide to speak up; an eyebrow raised.
"You alright over there?" She'd question; perhaps a bit of a pointless question, given that Bero appeared to constantly be in some state of Pissed Off, but... "You look about ready to either go on one of your rants, or ready to blow some shit up." She wasn't about to tell Bero to blow something up, or to not blow something up; but a heads up so that she didn't end up underneath a bunch of surprise rubble certainly would be nice.

Lacking adaptation to the heat is sadly something he could relate too. He needed to cool of physically as much as anybody else, and his black colouration actually took more from the sun. Ever since he became a champion, it’s thankfully been much less of an issue. Environmental factors don’t really increase with the Digimon, after all.
He remained in the shade for a little longer, the glow on his helmet increasing before she spoke to him. There’s irritation all throughout him, and she implies he just goes on rants on the regular? The built up rage was audible in his tone, but even then, he shouted less than he did as a rookie. What seeped through his speech was a silent and seething rage. Something deeper within. “I don’t rant all the time.”
“And i’m Fine-” while he spoke he slammed his fist towards the wall, which only served to indicate that he was anything but fine. He had enough to deal with on his own, let alone with this Spadamon irritating him. What surprised him, however, is that some rocks crumbled around his ivory claws and fell to the ground. His helmet’s glow decreased for a bit as he observed the rock. “What in the…”
He observed the rock wall, feeling how tough it was, and now wordlessly looking for an airflow. Was this just soft rock or is it a thin wall?

As Bero mentioned that he didn't rant all the time, Ophelia was going to point out that she never said that he did; she just found his rants to be rather distinct, given his creative choices of insults. But, the Spadamon wouldn't have much of a chance to respond, before Bero suddenly turned to strike at the wall of the alcove; completely contradicting his insistence that he was 'fine'.
Bero wasn't the only one to note the way that the rocks he had struck crumbled rather easily, though; Ophelia glancing at the point of impact for a second. She wasn't as sure of what it might mean as Bero was; only noting that the usually tough-and-sturdy stone here didn't crumble quite so easily, and that even Bero noted it as unusual...
Stepping closer, Ophelia would bring her D-Nexus up once more, to try to scan the wall; a palm feeling along the wall of the alcove, in hopes of finding something of interest about this portion of the rocky cliffside. "Huhm... Usually, I'd not be entirely sure if we should be punching shit in an alcove like this..." She'd begin as a comment; thinking of things like a rock slide or collapse being a potential risk, similarly to avalanches on a snowy mountain. "... But there's something up with this rock, here..."
Putting her D-Nexus down to get out her Azure Fang instead, she'd shape it into a pick of sorts; bringing it back, before striking at the stone with it; to see what happened!

Bero’s fist to the wall seemed to have effectively shut up the Spadamon, at least for a bit. He saw the motion in her body to say something, interrupted by his outburst. Well, that was the objective achieved, albeit unintentionally.
The wall naturally interested him far more than Ophelia’s silence. As he searched along the wall for a vent, any hint at the wall having something on the other side, she spoke her mind, searching the wall herself. It seemed she found a thin point, and with what seemed to be almost no consideration at all she struck at it with a pickaxe. Bero hardly got the chance to say “What are y-”
As she struck the wall, a certain rock broke off and flew past her fluffy mane, zipping by as if shot off by a gun, slowing down in the air behind them before continuing a normal trajectory. The wall started caving in, but in a strange sight that some rocks moved like bullets and others slowed down, sometimes temporarily freezing in the air. As if stuck in time. Both Bero and Ophelia would find themselves pelleted by various rocks, attacking them in a flurry of rock shard. Bero noticed a large rock elsewhere starting to move, and he suddenly stepped over and extended his claws.
The rushing of flames could be heard, as the impact of rock slammed on Bero’s ivory, boney claws, the flames of his body flickering and flaring up everywhere as pulses of damage moved through his body and divided amongst it. Bero held up the rock with much effort, which revealed a cave further into the alcove. If Bero had let this one rock fall, it clearly would’ve shut off the cave entrance. Bero, however, was currently stuck holding the stone up.
The cave entrance was a sight to behold, a respectable little cavernous tunnel having opened up before them. Most notably, however, was the way it was changing right in front of them. Some pebbles rolled from the right wall down, rolling around at the speed of sound it seemed. A small magma stream was on the left wall, but the top was flowing quickly, while halfway, it started flowing very slowly, causing the slow flowing magma to blockade the quick flowing magma, which bunched up and some of it solidifying on the spot. There was a constant ticking noise felt unusually fast, as if a clock going at double speed. Bero looked inside while grunting and holding up the rock. “By all that is seething copper melting flame, what the motherboard is happening here?!”
It was even harder for Bero to look at, as he recorded various temperature signatures inside, including odd releases and buildups, and some place his heat sensing didn’t work at all, like a water drop forming on a cold stalactite, before freezing and shooting down at accelerated speed, hitting a hot point and melting in midair.

As the flurry of rocks began to pelt the two of them, Ophelia would be quick to react; bringing up her arm, and forming a buckler of ice to protect her from the storm of shards! She barely had a chance to regard what Bero was doing - the stones that rained upon them holding her attention as she attempted to protect herself, the ice being marked with pits and scratches from the projectiles. What her shield couldn't take, would otherwise be soaked by her Frost Veil and metal armor; leaving her with minimal damage.
It was only when the flurry began to slow and thin out, that Ophelia would be able to lower her guard; her buckler cracked and battered, though she'd allow it to melt to instead glance to Bero - seeing that, instead of defending himself... He had lifted up a rather massive boulder, one that would've blocked the cave beyond the alcove...!
The cave could wait for just a second, though. Ophelia, instead, would digivolved to Himamon; helping Bero lift the rock and heft it aside, so that neither of them had to be burdened by it. It was only when the boulder was dealt with, and when the DarkLizarmon made a bewildered exclamation - that exclamation in part being why Ophelia thought that his rants were particularly distinct - that she would turn her attention back to the newly opened path beyond.
Hot and cold, fast and slow, and a constant ticking... Ophelia couldn't help but find herself equally bewildered; muttering "What in the fuck...?" to herself as she glanced at her surroundings, of this strange cave that they had unearthed. "... They really wanted to break every law of physics however they damn liked in here, huh?" She'd comment; taking a few steps forward and looking around.
Glancing back at Bero, she'd ask "You down to check this all out?" He probably took some damage, if he hadn't had any way to protect himself from the barrage of shards, so she thought to check in with him. "I wonder if Akala or Gajuma knew about this place at all, with how it was closed off before we barged in..." Ophelia added in musing - glancing at her surroundings once more.

He looked around the place, admittedly, he appreciated her help, even if it confirmed the horrible nightmare that she had well progressed to the point of champion herself. The feeling was horrendous, as she had actually likely gotten a proper champion and outpaced him in raw strength, with ease, likely. Here he was, a shell of his former self.
Luckily though, they were faced with something far more attention grabbing and worrisome. The constant ticking, the different speeds different things worked at. Bero looked inside. “I’m sure you’re only seeing half of this whole deal with your single-class coded eyes.”
He saw heat signatures of magma, all in strange patterns and strange methods. He continued on, amazement in his voice slowly fading into practical hard logic, with a hint of irritation about him. The glow of his helmet was practically entirely gone, and his body had faded into the shadows better than anywhere during the climb up. “i don’t know if it was closed off…”
He said, looking at the walls of the hole they used as entrance. “Or recently hollowed out due to this… strange effect. Whatever it is, i think it’s a temporary thing. If this is a permanent thing going around, then everyone here will have some challenges to face with a very strange, unstable volcano. Hell, we don’t even know if this is a highly active volcano, but something like this…”
Bero’s claws slowly scraped along the surface, clicking and clacking as the tapped against the uneven patterns in the wall according with the speed Bero ran them along the wall. He kept silent for a second after doing so. Without any doubt in his mind, he headed deeper into the cave, avoiding the ridiculously hot spots, occasionally shivered as he couldn’t sense the frozen spots where time had caused the air to move so slowly that it was freezing cold. Very odd. Bero’s presence seemed to have some kind of… minor balancing effect on the area. If Ophelia went deeper, she’d have the same. Their status as champions made their code more stable, and that stability leaked out in a small ‘aura’ around them. This prevented them from randomly being accelerated or decelerated in the same way the environment was. They’d have to deal with the environment itself moreso than with the supernatural effect, luckily. The clicking seemed louder close to spots where time moved faster, and where time moved slower, the clicking was almost impossible to hear.
Bero, walking ahead, was dancing through the cave to avoid the first few obvious dangerous spots. Progression through this cave was very slow, at least when you tried to be safe about it.

Bero's comment would make Ophelia pause for a second - thinking - before glancing in his direction. "Ah; yeah, if even temperature is fucking up around here, then this must be one hell of a trip for your eyes.." She'd comment - it having taken her a second to remember that Bero was able to perceive heat by sight, unlike herself. "Hell, it's already enough of a trip for me, with typical sight alone!" She'd add in a mix of amazement and humor; her ears twitching a bit at the constant ticking sounds.
She would take a few steps forward, glancing about, before turning back towards Bero as he commented on the possibility of this having been some strange temporary effect; making her raise her eyebrows a bit, from behind the mask-like helmet that covered her brow. "If this is the result of some strange fuckery going on, what might be causing it...?" She'd question - glancing back on ahead, in particular eyeing a dripping stalactite. What would happen, too, if they solved the source of this all...?
As Bero advanced further into the cave, Ophelia would be close behind; following his lead, as she watched her surroundings with a certain awe. Strange, new things like this... It was partially why she wanted to see the world beyond the mountains so badly, really; getting to experience these new and wild things...
The cold didn't seem to bother Ophelia at all that much, her being surprised at the sudden fluctuations more than anything. But, this - as well as the fluctuations in the ticking - also brought up a notion in her head. "... Though everything else around us is going faster, or slower, or however the hell it pleases... We're not being affected the same way," She'd note; her attention to detail coming through as she watched a drop of water lazily float downwards, from another stalactite. "Is it because we're digimon, and not inanimate like rocks and water or magma are..?" The Himamon mused out loud, glancing about. "... Or is something else going on?"

Well, at least her memory worked, even if she needed to dig in it. His heat sight didn’t make it absolute intolerable, after all, it only could detect really warm heat signatures. With magma though, there was plenty of that. Seeing it would be important in avoiding it. She mentioned what could be causing something like this. Looking around and seeing the ticking… “Some kind of program. I don’t think it matters what. We’ll get in, look around, and get the hell out.”
Naturally, he didn’t care about the fact that Ophelia had her own factional alignment and duties to uphold. He was just here to see the magma, and for him, she was just here to explore on her own grounds. Looking at the environment surrounding them, Bero noticed even the way the rock existed was in accelerated or decelerated state. He didn’t know if even this cave was permanent. “These kinds of things are kind of normal, if you just know where to look. They pass over given time.”
The two would be walking to close together and Ophelia would make some notices about the situation, saying how she experienced it and what she saw happening around her. She was keen enough to be picking up on the things correctly, at the very least, despite it apparently being one of the first times she observed an occurrence like this so personally.
“I’d think so. Digimon code and environment code are both entirely different situations. The same kind of program just won’t cut it to affect both.” It seemed that as far as he was concerned, there was nothing far beyond natural capabilities happening here. The cave twisted and spiralled into multiple directions. Including some small passageways their champion forms would never fit inside of. Bero continued one without even a consideration for these passageways. After all, even if blackgabumon could fit… there was no guarantee that the spadamon would fit. Ophelia didn’t quite change size the same way Bero did, even if Himamon was comparable.
“Something… feels different. Moreso than just the strange time program.” He suddenly stood still partway through, looking around, having a strange sensation. He couldn’t put his finger on it, lacking strong non-standard sensing abilities. It might be hostile intent, it might be a different overlapping program, it might simply be a strange phenomenon. He waited for a moment, perhaps the Himamon could sense more.

She wasn't sure if the cause of all of this was as unimportant as Bero made it out to be; though would otherwise quietly nod, agreeing at checking this place out then leaving. Wasn't much point in using this as a shelter or den, unless one could deal with both extreme heat and cold, or the absurd time fluctuation here... It'd still be nice to know what sort of program, exactly, was causing it all, though; if only so that she wouldn't get any nasty surprises while they were in here.
As Bero commented that this sort of phenomenon was normal and would eventually pass, though... Ophelia would hum a bit; remarking "It's certainly my first time, finding a place like this..." with a certain degree of thoughtfulness. Hopping up a slight step, she'd notice Bero's gaze at some of the stone that made up the cave, before commenting with a chuckle "I suppose that makes this a bit special for me, in a way, then; yeah?" Maybe she should be taking recordings or photos of this place; it certainly was something she'd like to remember, a strange occurrence like this...
So this program, whatever it was, was only made to affect the environment around them? "Makes sense," Ophelia would nod her understanding as she gazed about them; noting the different passageways that branched off from here. Frankly, even if her Spadamon form didn't fit some of these smaller tunnels that branched off, she wasn't afraid to go as low as her Wanyamon form, if necessary. It probably wasn't the safest solution - and so, she'd simply continue to follow Bero along without paying too much mind to the smaller passageways, either - but it was still an option all the same.
As Bero's steps stopped, though... Ophelia would glance in his direction with an inquisitive expression, one that would slowly shift into something more serious and alert at the mention of something feeling... Different. Not responding immediately, Ophelia would instead glance about at her surroundings; ears pricked, eyes peeled, and her nose sniffing at the air for any unusual scents.
She couldn't see or hear anything out of the unusual; but there was something that had her feeling a bit tense, something setting her more wild instincts on edge the same way that a stalked animal's might...
