MPC Name: Fast Forward + Finale + This is the End MPC No.: 70A + 70C + 33 Reward: Bits David: 1875 words Alt!David: 2233 words Follow up of this. Reading it is unnecessary, but this story takes place in the world of an alternate David.
David Lee Copeland You are David Copeland, chosen child of truth, and this is your world. You stand outside the walled city of Edenhope, the last slice of uncorrupted land among two digital worlds. A monsterous threat named Daemon has either taken control of or destroyed the rest of the worlds. He has even made a point to corrupt Yggdrasil, and thus has taken full control over the cycle of reincarnation.
You and your friends have been at war for the better part of three years now and yet, no matter how many victories you win, you cannot be everywhere at once. No matter how strong you are, a small handful of Digidestined is no match for an army so large it can march across the whole world at once. No twelve year old should see this much destruction, yet here you are.
Until recently, this place was untouchable thanks to a remarkable barrier that diverted timelines of would-be assailants. However, the talented Clockmon who could create this barrier had used up the entirety of his data to send you on a mission that you have just returned from.
This mission, unfortunately for everyone, did not go as planned. You were supposed to trek through the multiverse, destroy all your alternate selves, and become your Ultimate Self, with absolute control over your aspect. However, now you are back, and no more connected to Truth than when you left.
"Sorry, Clockmon. Everyone," You mutter to yourself. If you are not successful at your mission here, it means that the sacrifice that sent you into Paradox Space in the first place was wasted. If you failed here, it is one hundred percent your fault for not being able to kill other yous.
Your task here: to delay Daemon and allow all the citizens here to escape. You aren't sure exactly where they are escaping to, but Impy and Roy seem to have it figured out. Those two are coordinating the evacuation efforts. Something in your heart tells you it won't matter where they escape to. You won't be joining them.
Tyler and his Monodramon are back in the real world resting up from his recent outing. He had just managed to take out one of Daemon's Dark Masters, his top generals, just yesterday and was in no condition to fight.
Neil has been MiA for a week. You haven't been able to contact him but the area he was deployed to does not seem to be getting worse. It is entirely possible that he has died in battle, but you hold out hope.
Krim was unreachable in the other half of the fragmented digital world fighting another two Dark Masters by himself. Since he's in what is effectively a separate digital world, you have been unable to contact him and let him know of the situation here on your end of things. Krim is easily the strongest person you have ever met and is likely the only one who has any hope of actually killing Daemon.
With all your allies otherwise occupied, you stand outside the gates of Edenhope, as a last barrier to entry against the overwhelming presence you feel coming. However, you are not alone. Modoki, your ModokiBetamon, is by your side as always. And there is someone else there, too.
❝I am the one you should fear the most I am the one who will bring you down As long as I exist there's hope for the world❞

You are David Copeland, chosen child of truth, and this is not your world. You stand here outside a city named Edenhope in a foreign digital world. Just yesterday a dream was interupted by a different version of yourself that had attacked out of nowhere. After a bit of talking while staying on the defensive, you managed to convince your other self that their mission was fruitless. Killing so many people would do irreparable damage to a heart. There was no telling what devastation would be caused if your targets were all yourself. So instead, he brought you back here, to his world.
As he took you from a dream, you had no chance to say goodbye to any of the friends you had made. No chance to tell your family you loved them. It all happened so fast that you didn't even have time to recognize that there might not be a way back. But that didn't matter. There were people in trouble, two whole worlds of them in fact. You could never live with yourself if you declined to help out. Plus, you cannot help but feel that, had you declined, your other self would continue his original task of hunting down all the other versions of themself.
As you understand it, you are about to face the final boss of this world. Daemon, a monster who had absorbed almost a whole world's worth of data, was marching on your present location. Your job is just to delay it as long as possible while all the citizens escape to a safe haven elsewhere. Once everyone was gone, you were to retreat and join them, forfeiting the city to Daemon. Sounds good to you.
With Clockmon gone, it seemed that the only route across reality was cut off, so you'd have to continue on here for a while until some other solution could be found. Perhaps a guy named Krim could help. The other David seemed to think Krim was the most powerful being in existence and was very confused about how exactly all his powers and digimon worked. Perhaps they would be able to do something when all this was over. But this was all thoughts for the far future.
Right here, right now, you were defenders. You were to be an unbreakable phalanx and guardian of the future. You see David grit his teeth and lower his stance, as if bracing for some unknown impact. "It's coming, isn't it?" You don't need to look at him to see the slight nervous nod.
"Are you ready for this?" This was your partner ModokiBetamon, Ziggy. And if you were to answer honestly; no, you weren't. But there wasn't really a choice at the moment was there? You are David Copeland, chosen child of truth. And the truth of the matter is, you are going to win. Everyone is searching for a world where they belong. A place of light, free of falsehood.

Just outside of the main city of Edenhope, within the fields in this pocket dimension, a black shadow came down upon the grass, killing it instantly. The shadow morphed into the form of Daemon, still cloaked and just staring out at the city. Without speaking a word more shadows appeared, making out the forms of several different champion and ultimate level digimon. He pointed forward as they all charged into the city, soon a battle would break out all across Edenhope and around the Tree of Life.
He looked across what was soon to be burned to the ground, in due time, he would control the Digital World and in essence, be able to completely overwhelm the human world as well. No one would be able to stand against him.
Was he worried about Yggdrasil? Not at all, it was but a dying God disconnected to its roots with no means of protection anymore, void the small army between him and total domination. Was the said army a threat? Not at the moment, no. They were all that was left that Edenhope could muster up to defend itself. There was a chosen child however, and they had proven to be a nuisance time and time again, but even they cannot stop the inevitable. With those variables out of the way, he simply stared out at the field of battle and waited to see what they would do.

David Lee Copeland Slowly, light disappeared from the distance. As the sillouette covers the ground, it seems to sap the life of anything it touches, its voracious appetite unquenchable. With a chill down your spine, you feel it coming closer. This is a force of ages. Of centuries gone by. But you are a protector of the right. A defender sworn to fight.
"You ready, Modoki?" You query the small frog behind you, already knowing the answer. Of course he isn't. Who would be? Krim, probably. But no matter how much it would be helpful at this moment, neither of you could ever bring yourself to match his level of sociopathy and detachment. "Heh, I guess there isn't much choice, is there? Let's go."
With one arm outstretched towards the enemy forces, you force a wry smile on towards the rising army of chained souls. With a snap of your fingers, Modoki begins to dissolve into data and flow into your back. It had been a long time since you had to biomerge without having your partner evolve first, and the process is trying. Your body becomes enveloped in soft white light and starts to contort and shift sharply. You drop to the floor on your hands as your body grows to several times its original size. Your legs shrink up a bit as you become fully quadrupedal.
The soft light slowly fades and where once a young boy stood now sits a sleek blue serpentine dragon covered in thick black plate armor made of chrome digizoid. Two red wings lay flat across your back and extend almost halfway down the length of your tail. Your front claws are covered by thick greaves with long golden claws. This is the ultimate form of your bond with your partner digimon. The absolute agent of which to write your truth upon the world. You are Imperialdramon: Dragon Mode.
"DAEMON!" Your roar rocks the battlefield as the very Earth shakes at your declaration. "My name is David, and with this power of Bio I will stand in your way. Saving this world from you, fallen child of mon. Others may have failed to stop you, but I know I can."
You rocket out forth from your position at the gates towards the army at a ludicrous speed. In this form, you are known as one of the fastest digimon in the world, with very few rivals. By Exceeding C you can travel at nearly three times the speed of light without consequence, should you wish. You hold yourself back and move just below the speed of light so that the molecules in the air don't get too agitated.
With all the precision of a comically large sledgehammer, you drop into one group, stopping for just a fraction of a second before accelerating to your top speed again. Moving at three times the speed of light causes your body to agitate the oxygen enough in the air. In the digital world, where physics gets dubious at a micro level, oxygen is a volatile element that explodes when its bonds with nearby atoms are disrupted. In effect, by accelerating and decelerating so suddenly, you cause the very air itself to be transformed into bombs.

There are certain unbreakable rules in this world. Trust your partner. Don't eat liquids off the floor. And never escalate a situation. While all of them are important, that last one has been your credo and has become all the more important having come to the digital world. Today it seems like you are going to have to break that rule by going full force from the very start.
"Hey, you remember that version of you we saw that was a big snake thing?" While traveling back through the convoluted and illogical distortion that was Paradox Space, you happened to see some other yous in dream bubbles. You never interacted, and passed them by too quickly to see much, but in the glimpses of realities you could catch you could see a few of the evolutionary paths your partner Ziggy could take. "You think you could be that?"
"Uh, I've never done it before." Was this really the time to be asking for your partner to experiment with his own biology? Then again, Ziggy never had actually evolved before, and it was unlikely that he could be of any help as just a ModokiBetamon. "But I can-....I'll see what happens."
Ziggy closed his eyes and let out a deep breath as if beginning to concentrate on himself and his own path. After a few moments, he begins to glow brightly. You smile gleefully to yourself. It's happening. Your partner is finally evolving, and nothing could make you happier. As your buddy begins to grow and elongate, he stretches upwards, head hooking under your crotch and continuing upwards with you seated atop. As the head got wider, you stand up atop it.
With a sharp crack, the light surrounding a snakelike body shatters and falls to the ground below as dust. You now stand atop a long snake covered in golden metal bits fused into his body. Ziggy looks AWESOME. And you look awesome, standing tall up here above the world. Your only wish in this moment is that you had a cape or cloak to billow cooly in the wind.
"I don't think this is enough." The other David had fused with his partner to achieve their ultimate form. If they could do it, why couldn't you? With a short acknowledgment towards Ziggy, you close your eyes as your body sinks down into MetalSeadramon. A few pieces of his body begins to change. Some fins retract back into the main body as others elongate and widen, revealing the blue hot energy of jet engines inside them. The canon upon their face also pulls back and becomes more armor-like in appearance, instead leaving only a small sharp nose fin. This was the best form you could manage at the moment. Perhaps if you had evolved naturally, you would have more. For now, this is your final form: GigaSeadramon.
Huh? That last 'you' was weird. Well, you are now the same being as Ziggy, so it's to be expected.
David seems to have a good enough idea of what he's doing on the offensive, so you decide to hang back and defend the city, catching any stragglers. You decide to deploy Susanowo's Kekkai around the city. This technique is meant to protect non-aquatic things far below the sea by creating a barrier that could withstand the crushing pressure of the ocean floor and keep water out. This should keep any stragglers out, though they hopefully wouldn't get that far. If any did manage to get away from Imperialdramon's explody rampage, you would just pick off by sniping them with precision bolts of lightning from your startlingly electric nostrils. Daemon stared out at the dragon, extending a hand from his cloak and generating a dark barrier around himself. This boy who announced himself as David believes that he can stop Daemon? An interested perspective, but not an unheard one. It'll be as simple as blocking the explosions around the dragon near him with this barrier. "Useless..."
Under all normal circumstances, he would have been correct. This was not a normal circumstance, this was going to be at least one of their final battles whether they wanted it to or not. He was going to make sure it was the boy's. Then, in this battle, just now, for the third time since his conception... Daemon was surprised. His shield shattered. He could not explain why or how, all he could do was acknowledge that truth. It managed to stop the attack, but was shattered under it. Something wasn't right here, he would need to find out soon.
The demonic Digimon spoke out to David, keeping his composure together and extending a hand from his cloak, "Very well... David. I will see to it that this is your end." With that, he shot off a dark ball of energy at the dragon, not even expecting it to hit. He was simply playing with his food for now, what he considers to be the biggest insult to any halfway honorable warrior.

David Lee Copeland So far your assault has gone smoothly. None of this mass of Champion nor Ultimate digimon had put up any resistence against your igniting of the very air. During the whole thing, you never took your eyes off of Daemon. Taking out the army was necessary to keep the city safe while it was being evacuated, but Daemon was still the real threat. However, as long as he didn't move, you could continue to take out the army without delay or distraction.
Since you were watching the big bad through all of this, you did happen to notice something strange. The shield Daemon had placed upon himself shattered. Was that truly from you? Had David done something from afar? You turn your neck back to observe the boy, but it seems he is directing all his attention to defense. So what caused it? You guess it could have been the shockwaves from your attack, but that would mean that Daemon faltered. Daemon NEVER faltered, if the rumors were to be believed. Nevertheless, you could not afford to squander the opportunity.
With a sharp mid-air turn, you immediately change course and charge straight at Daemon, fast as you can. Of course, it is only after you launch yourself that the idea that this could be a trap occurs to you. Deliberately making one's self look vulnerable to get an opponent to close in was a valid tactic favored by even ancient strategists like Sun Tzu and Kongming. However, yet other strategists such as Zheng He said the best way to dismantle a trap is to jump in knowing you are about to be trapped.
Didn't Zheng He lose all four major battles he was a part of? The voice of reason resonated in your head, but who cares? Real heroes never fear. Real heroes laugh at death. I will stand in his way until my final breath. You have dedicated your whole life to upholding what is right. No reason to falter now.
Daemon's riposte to this was a simple ball of energy, launched directly at you. You panic a bit and make a sharp shift to the left in order to avoid the ball. However, despite your speed, you have not been granted heightened reflexes or thought processes. This meant that dodging at this speed was a bit difficult. The ball whizzed right on by, coming so close to your skin that you could feel the sensation of all your hair standing on end. Not that you had hair in this form.
Your plan, as you dive claw first at Daemon's chest, is to embed your claws into him, then pivot hard, using your claws as the axis upon which you swivel. Once on the other side, you would keep moving and maneuver back to the front of the army once more, never slowing down.
Your claws are known as Splendor Blades, and they are incredibly sharp. The tips are measured at only one zeptometer, putting them on the atomic scale. Being made of a special type of chrome digizoid also meant they would never naturally dull. With any luck they would tear through Daemon like a cat through a paper door.
Assuming you weren't stopped by some means, you would return to the front of the remains of the charging army whether successful with your attack or not, and prepare for whatever came next. "Take a bow, Daemon. And smile, it's closing night." Was that a cool line? Fuck you hope it was. ❝I am the one you should fear the most I am the one who will bring you down As long as I exist there's hope for the world❞

In this form, if you stretch out tall, you are incredibly high up. Looking down on the battlefield like this almost makes it look like a video game zoomed out all the way. David seems to be doing a great job of keeping the army at bay, leaving you with not much to do. That's probably not a bad thing, though.
From on high, you got a good look at the battlefield. It was just dust. Dust and smoke and explosions. You have no idea what is happening down there, but so far nothing has come to try and get through your barrier into the city, so you had that going for you.
Soon, you see a sheen coming from Daemon's position as sunlight glints off of David's claws. That must mean he is away from the front lines. At least he gave your that signal, else you would have had no way of knowing what was going on through all the debris.
You scan the edge of the dust cloud closest to Edenhope, watching for any movement. However, you cannot afford to take any chances right now. Instead of waiting, you open up several pods all over the sides of your body as little missile launchers are revealed. Several dozen missiles shoot forth and blindly strike at the ground near the front lines, hopefully picking off any stragglers, should there be any in the first place.

From beneath his cloak, Daemon watched the Dragon... No, the boy inside the dragon panic from the tip of the ice berg. He quickly realized his foe was relying more on raw power than any true strategy. It might be enough to destroy his army, but would be nothing to him. Now the only unusual factor was his exceptional strength. The boy was stronger than he was last time he observed him, significantly so. He simply smiled from under the hood, a feast it is then.
When the slash came in Daemon put forth another barrier to his front, getting pushed into the dirt some as the forces of nature clashed. "I don't think I will." As he said this, the cloak that covered his form was revealed and he finally showed his true self to an opponent. He wanted the boy to see his fate with his own eyes. Once he adequately slowed down the dragon, he released the barrier and unleashed another attack. His mouth opened a purple flames spewed forth all across Imperialdramon.
Any flame that touched the ground killed it the life on it on the spot. The ground beneath him looked as though it was crying out, and he just smiled to the boy. The boy's power might be enough to hurt, damage, and possibly kill him, but in due time, he would overwhelm this boy like every other foe previous. Out of these beings, the only one that worried him was that Krim character, and even he wouldn't be a threat once he completed his goals here. The boy here was but a minor speed bump in his quest for total domination. Albeit, the last remaining one at that, anything after he gets this power is just a nuisance to be swatted out.
One thing did interest him though about this boy... How long would he last? If anything about this speed bump excited him, it was to see just how far this boy could go with his newfound strength before finally succumbing to his power. That would be a good estimate of how strong the Chosen Children are in general and if they would stand any hope in stopping him at a later date.

The area around Edenhope has been quiet. No enemies had come out of the dust and debris thus far. Had your companion been able to effectively take out the entire army? Had the NPCer forgotten about them? Either way, you decide you need to take a closer look. You fly down into the dust clouds kicked up by the battle and begin to look around.
Your passive ability Parser lets you see through just about anything as long as you are inside it. Now that you were inside the literal fog of war, you would be able to see everything that was happening from ground level. You see in the distance David fighting with Daemon, engaged in some close range shenanigans, but decide to survey the rest of the situation before going to help. Was everything else around here really dead or deleted?

David Lee Copeland Your claws struck home, but they didn't rend as you intended. Instead, a barrier set up by Daemon prevented your attack from doing it's intended damage or acting as a pivot to keep your momentum going. With the sudden stop, the vacuum in the space behind you was suddenly and violently filled in with air rushing in. This caused what was effectively a gale-force wind to rush into your back, holding you firmly in place against Daemon, claw still embedded.
Daemon's mouth began to open, and you knew what was coming. There was no way you could escape it at this close range, and this form wasn't particularly suited for defense. You had one that was, but there would not be anywhere near enough time to slide evolve and put up the necessary mechanisms. You had to do this the quick and dirty way; with a DBZ style clash of powers.
You opened your own mouth and began channeling your own attack through it, Mega Death. This technique was yet another one that messed with physics on an atomic level. A massive ball of white light began to form in the middle of your open jaws comprised entirely of positrons. A positron is a form of anti-matter; the electron's antiparticle, specifically. When a particle came into contact with its antiparticle, the two would annihilate each other, though not in any climactic manner. They simply cancel each other out and cease to exist altogether.
As Daemon's flames came into contact with your Mega Death both attacks would be weakened in equal amounts, mass-wise. Normally flames didn't have a whole lot of mass, but this was Daemon you were fighting. You couldn't just expect physics to behave normally, so you pour all the power you can into this ball, unleashing all the power you can. Should there be any energy left over at the end, you would launch the remaining ball straight at his face.

So the child decided to fight fire with fire... It was a simple and brutish plan to try and gain some sort of lead in this battle. He did silently admit to himself that he enjoyed the idea of using simple brutality to bring down his foes. However, there was one problem with brutality.
Much like the boy with the hat and his pet dragon first biomerged and the one being that truly scared him a little now whenever he first started transforming... This boy was unrefined in his strength. The power was great and focused, but wild in its usage. This brute force strategy may have worked on his former generals and caused him great trouble inadvertantly, but it would not be a major threat to Daemon directly. However, he may play with his food some more before devouring it.
He understood the basic premise of what the foolish boy was doing. He was trying to use his own power to defend and outlast his flames. He'd decide to test the boy's will this time around. He held the breath up until the boy's energy in the ball seemed to be weakened appropriately for his domination, then, and only then, would he fake a scowl and await to see if the boy blasted him or not.
If the boy did, he would intentionally fly back away from the boy, and then stand there mostly okay, giving an ever malicious smile. He would be a little injured, but what's a few scratches in dimensional conquest?
If the boy faltered for even a few seconds, he would return to a malicious smile, and send another breath of flames point blank into the boy, trying to fake the kid out then.

Alrighty, you've both reached the word count requirement, nice job.
David (both the total of both iterations) gets 5000 + 5000 + 5000 = 15,000 bits! Vating gets 25 posts!

Nothing. There was nothing except for Daemon and David. Was there ever really an army? Could it have just been an illusion this whole time, and you were fighting against nothing? What a pointless waste of time. No point in worrying about that now, though. Other David seemed to be evenly matched against Daemon, but that wouldn't last. When two opposing forces were even, it meant that any slip up could turn everything around. You needed to get in there and forcibly swing things in your favor.
You slip into the ground and merge with it before moving forward towards Daemon. While your other half could move with incredible speed, it seems you had your own movement skill. Be it on the ground or through air, sea, or even Earth, you could move unimpeded. This was your Assimilate All Creation, and it was impressive in its own right. While in the ground, your other senses were dulled, so you couldn't see while merged. However, Parser took care of that, allowing you to see in places you shouldn't be able to. Thanks to this, you knew where Daemon was even through the decaying Earth.
When directly under Daemon, you shot up as quickly as you could from right at his feet, coiling around his body as you moved upwards. You would constrict him as tightly as possible, leaving sizable gaps that David could utilize to attack. You also attempt to bend backward, causing Daemon's mouth to point upwards, away from David, and causing the flames to fall back onto both yourself and Daemon.
Assuming the maneuver was successful, the flames would scathe and burn at the metal plates covering your body, melting through and revealing the various armaments below. A few were probably jammed now and unable to launch. Luckily, nothing combusted within your own body.
"Do it. Do it now." Oh, new voice. That was different. Since your new mouth didn't have a lot of points of articulation, you just sort of opened up and words came out without having to move around your lips or tongue. Not that you had those anymore. It seems that all your mouth innards had, in fact, been replaced with yet another cannon. This body really did just have weapons everywhere, didn't it?
All of this relied on your ability to trap Daemon in the first place. If it didn't work, you'd just have to retreat to David's side and come up with a new plan. Everyone is searching for a world where they belong. A place of light, free of falsehood.

David Lee Copeland No. No. This was wrong. Not only were Daemon's flames not weakening, but you also weren't even a match. Could he keep this up indefinitely? It sure seemed like it, but you knew you couldn't. You could feel yourself straining to output enough antiparticles just to stay evenly matched with Daemon's relentless assault. Normally Mega Death was to be just created and launched. Continuously pouring more energy into creating positrons was taking a greater toll on you than you had anticipated, and you could feel the ball shrinking, letting more of those flames hit the ground around you, taking out what little flora was left in the area.
Suddenly, a form shot up from out of the ground beneath Daemon. "You're-..." You cut yourself off in surprise. This is no time to be taken in by turns in events. You need to utilize this fast before Daemon can riposte and retaliate. You see that David is leaving you cleanly exposed body parts. Now that the flames were out of your face, you could go on the offensive again.
With Mega Death weak but still active, you choose to bite into Daemon's stomach area with it still in your mouth. The idea here is that though a simple bite may not do anything other than hold you in place, the positrons in the leftover ball should annihilate a sizable chunk of your enemy. ❝I am the one you should fear the most I am the one who will bring you down As long as I exist there's hope for the world❞
