The sun was setting in the distance among the massive waves of sand as the human Sky trudged onward with the small semi-spherical Digimon Viximon resting upon his shoulder as a parrot would. He felt tired and sweaty as his boots crested what seemed to the be final dune between their prior arrival into the digital world and what appeared to be massive ruins scattered around the area before them, some carved into the walls of massive stone mesa's and some just out in the open. "It's getting late... This... I hope... should be a good place to rest for the night." He assumed. Viximon nodded, which was a motion where their whole body moved up and down. which normally would elicit a chuckle from Sky since it was both a cute motion as well as looking a tad silly. Though they seemed to be growing tired, and he chalked it up to heat exhaustion. Wait, how would Viximon deal with heat at all...? He wiped the sweat from his brow with the back of his gloved hand. before speaking.
"Hey, Viximon. Are you feeling okay?" he asked softly while they approached the alcove of one of the nearby stone-carved ruins. He shook his head to clear his derailing train of thought and focused on getting down the dune to the nearby alcove of a half-ruined building carved into a rock-face. Hesitating before crossing its threshold, they stepped further within, while reaching into his messenger back to grab his cellphone. No service? Of course. Though luckily it was still half charged and could provide enough light for the two to view the walls surrounding them. As they passed the light from the phone, they took note that the walls seemed to be carved with several ancient symbols and drawings of things that looked like birds, dogs, and even a few cat-like things in a pattern around the room. "Heh, kinda looks like ancient wallpaper." he joked aloud. Viximon stared at the markings for a moment on the wall before speaking. "Oooh! I know that one! It's a Biyomon! And that one over there..." Viximon pointed with their front right foot at one of the images that resembled a cat. "That's GOTTA be a gatomon!" it seemed pleased with itself as it shifted their gaze back to Sky, its face jutting up proudly.
"Are those... Digimon too I guess...? Isn't that what you called yourself back there?" he inquired of the small yellow fluff-ball.
"Yup! They sure are!" They replied cheerily.
Sky seemed confused at first as to why digimon would make images of themselves in lines around the walls of the room, unless they were intelligent also...? Though of course the creature atop his shoulder seemed to be intelligent as well, so that was more than likely possible.
"Fascinating..." He spoke thoughtfully.
"Though, do you think they'd be friendly?" Sky asked the smaller being upon his shoulder, his voice beginning to sound uncertain.
"Well... I'm not sure... But I'd hope so!" Viximon chuckled softly, but with a nervous undertone in its voice.
Thinking for a moment on what Viximon had said before he replied. "Oh, well that's assuring... But what choice do we really have for tonight at least then..." He decided to lean back against the same wall they were just examining and slid down. His knees to his chest with his arms moving to rest atop them. His thoughts slowly careening into many things that were on his mind. His brother is going to be worried and if he can't get back home he won't have a job. He locked his phone with the press of a button and slid it back into his bag, not wanting to remind himself of what he had recently told his brother moments ago. With The overall seriousness of the situation finally falling upon him while he sat there trying to rest, his mind was clouded in a haze of despair.
The small floof known as Viximon jumped into his lap before curling into a ball.
"Well Uhhh... since we're stuck here, If you wan't to know anything just ask!" They spoke cheerily, clearly feeling Sky's increasing worry.
Sky thought on it, his mind trailing away from the seriousness of the situation back to the small ball of fur within his lap.
"Well... you said partner earlier. What does that mean?"
The small canid seemed thoughtful."Partner... Hmm..." their eyes turned upwards in remembrance. "All I know is that I felt like I had to find you! And I knew it was you when I saw you! Kinda like a big surge of energy when I saw you back there! Kinda just like I was meant to be with you!" they punctuated their last point with a tail flick and a big smile.
Sky nodded in understanding.
"But how did you even get there? And now that I think on it, what exactly was that train from earlier?" He looked down at Viximon with a concerned look upon his face. They thought again on the subject. "Honestly... I'm not entirely sure! I just know I was there in the station, and felt like I needed to find someone nearby! A 'partner' was the word that repeated in my mind. And as for that train thingy... I think it's called a trailmon...?"
"Another Digimon then...?" he asked.
Viximon nodded "Mmhm! But, I have no idea why it was going so fast!" their gaze met his, smiling slightly. "We'll figure things out though in the morning." That wasn't too much help, though they were right it, worrying about things right now would only complicate things further. Viximon yawned softly before their eyes slid shut slowly. Tucking their face underneath their tail, it was clear Viximon decided it was time for a nap. Though that was assuming these Digimon functioned as most normal living creatures did. He smiled slightly before letting his hand rest just behind their ears in an attempt to gently pet them while he waited for either sleep to come, or for something to happen...
