Kshin smiled at the admiration of the others as everyone talked about the trick. When Rai mentioned Kshin subverting his expectations twice, Kshin said "Well magic is an art that regularly has to evolve and change much like digimon." Kshin was beginning to look excited to but if they wanted to see another trick he didn't know which one to pick.
Then Duke asked how he did the trick and Kshin chuckled before he said "Surely you know that the magician's code means I cannot reveal the tricks of the trade."
"I think that the only exception to that rule is if you were teaching an apprentice." Grace said bouncing as if Duke and Y2K's excitement was contagious. She seemed to feed on the energy of those around her and if it was positive the normally peppy digimon would be going full force.
Kshin blushed a bit looking at the ground before he said "Yeah well I'm no where near experienced enough to take on an apprentice if I am still bungling much harder tricks."
Then Duke asked to see another trick and Kshin thought for a moment before an idea came to him and it was clear from the way his amber eyes lit up. Walking over to his things he set a small plank on the ground with three small cups while still holding the coin. Grace had gotten up by then deciding to fulfill her role as magician's assistant and stood not far from Kshin as he got ready. She had also brought the rest of his things. "Okay you guys wanted another trick? How bout an old classic? I'm sure at least one of you heard of the shell game."
Taking the coin he placed it under one of the cups and placed his paws on two of the cups before beginning to move them around two at a time silently but swiftly before he stopped and looked at Duke and Y2K before he said "Okay you two. Where is it?"

At Duke's suggestion Y2K began a vigorous head motion that made him look exactly like a bobble head doll that had just been firmly flicked on the forehead. Alas, no more bits appeared. When he had ceased he proclaimed "Nope! No bits! I think it only works when a magician does it!"
Rai couldn't help but find that... vaguely amusing. "Humans can get headaches like that." of course he didn't know if Y2K could get a headache like that, which is why he picked his phrasing.
But the audience had asked the Famed Kshin, Master Magician for an encore! Y2K and Rai both observed the set up. Ah the shell game. As the cups shuffled around, Rai wondered if he knew what the reveal was already.
Y2K hummed with his finger in his mouth and said "None!" Apparently he didn't think the coin was under any of them.
Rai blinked at Y2K. He was pretty sure the little guy didn't know this trick-- especially given how much he seemed to buy the last one. "Well?" he asked turning his gaze back to Kshin.

Duke continues to be giddy about all this, not only is he making some 'possible' friends today, but he got fed, AND is being shown amazing magic tricks! He laughs a little as Y2K shows he no more bits in the brain and grins. "I agree with your human. That would give me a headache too, but good to know there is no loose bits in there!"
Then his attention turns back to Khsin, as he and Grace setup for the next trick. His eyes go wide as he watches him place the bit down, then shuffle shuffled. He blinks his eyes a few times and walks over a bit closer, then a bit closer more.
He sniffs the air, once toward each cup. He tilts his head, taps the bottom of his muzzle with his large index claw, and then points at the middle one. "I think it's that one!"

Y2K's head motions were pretty funny but Kshin and Grace were able to act professionally despite the signs of amusement in the young Gammamon's eyes. When Y2K was satified he had no coins in his head using a bobble head like method of shaking his head vigorously.
When Rai told Y2K that humans could get headaches like that Duke agreed it would give him a headache too. Mona nodded and said "You should listen to Rai in this manner, darling. Even digimon brains can only handle being shaken so much."
Kshin took notice of how Y2K guessed the coin was in none of the cups while Duke though it was in the middle cup. Kshin looked at Grace, who nodded, and placed his paw on the middle and right cup while Grace placed her paw on the last remaining cup and they lifted them all at the same time. Then it was revealed that not only Y2K was wrong but Duke was not completely right either as there were now three coins where the cups were but Kshin didn't hide any money in the cup before the trick or it would of been noticeable when setting up the trick that's for sure. "Surprise." Kshin said with a smile.

Rai offers another polite golf clap at the reveal. There were two ways to subvert expectations with this trick, rendering picking any of the cups false. Have the coins be under every cup as Kshin had done, or have all of the cups be empty, as Y2K had guessed. He had been expecting one or the other-- though there was a moment when Duke had been allowed to investigate with his nose, where Rai thought he must have gotten it.
Y2K "Oooh"d at the reveal and clapped his hands. "Neat!" he chirped happily. Y2K had been completely wrong, but Duke was sort of right! There was a coin under the cup! There was just also coins under the other cups!
Rai tore himself a new piece of bread and began to nosh on it. Still tasty--in his opinion anyway. "Those were well done. But how have things been since we met in Terminus? I'm sure there's more to tell than just what went down tonight." Rai asked now interested in what they've missed, and how the trio's adventures have been since their conflict with FlameWizardmon.
Y2K tilted his head. Were there no more tricks then?

Duke watched as the cups were shown and his eyes went wide, "Huh?! That is amazing!" He jumps up and down a little, clapping his pawed hands. "You are amazing Kshin! Other mons are fools for thinking you are not!"
His attention turns to Rai, as he asks the trio how they been since some event and his ears droop a little. He can tell its serious talk time amongst some. Though his draconic gold eyes look over to Y2K, as if some gears are turning in the Guilmon X's head regarding the other rookie.
His tail flicks gently as he continues to study the Keramon, before he trots over to Y2K, he trots around him, before he grins a little. "Hey! Y2K!" He tilts his head a little. "Like to spar while they talk?"

"Yeah I may not have mastered a lot of tricks but I try to do my best with the selection I have. As for what happened today I used a trick I hadn't mastered yet and got pelted with produce for a simple screw up. Perhaps I should of picked a safe trick today." Kshin said with a sigh his hammer tail softly swishing back and forth.
"Well not much has happened except tracking down a missing ninja and traveling around. I guess I just don't attract as much trouble as Mandrake has." Kshin said with a shrug before he continued "Don't know why to be honest given how rough I had it in my early life."
When Duke called Kshin amazing the Gumdramon blushed before he said "I don't know if I can agree with you since there are magicians with more talent and experience than me. I once competed in a magic competition and placed fairly high losing to a really skilled Palmon of all things. Shame the limit was rookies and lower or Mandrake could of probably won. He is a much better magician than I am but I am trying to be more like him."
Mona, though strong in her own right, was not interested in sparring and went back to her work fixing the ruined hat. Kshin really liked her work and who was she to ignore a kid as cute and polite as him. He was obviously raised by good digimon.

Rai listened intently. A missing ninja huh? It was a good thing they didn't seem to run into too many issues. After all, the ancient Chinese intended and considered the words, 'may you live in interesting times' to be a curse. A very polite sounding curse, but still. "A missing ninja huh?" he echoed his earlier thoughts. "Sounds like a story. Did everything work out there?"
Y2K on the other hand was eager. "Spar? Playfight! Yes yes yes! Fun!" he looked around for a good spot, where they might avoid spitting dangerous projectiles the way of the others by accident. "Over there!" the Keramon pointed to a spot a small distance from the fire and the people speaking around it. "Lets play over there!" he said happily.
Yes to Y2K there was scarcely a difference between playing and fighting. He knew Rai couldn't roughhouse, but Y2K wouldn't pass up a chance to tussle with his newest buddy!
He scuttled or did whatever you do when you move upright on the ends of many claw tipped tendrils over to his chosen area, hopefully with Duke not far behind him. "But no firing that way!" he stipulated pointing back at the group.
At that Y2K began to bob and weave around in a seemingly erratic fashion; there didn't seem to be a rhyme or reason to them beyond never holding still. It was almost like a particularly confusing drunken boxing stance.

(First time doing a combat-style post. Lets go!)
Duke jumped up on his feet and padded after Y2K. He gave a nod in agreement to not aim any long-distance attacks toward their 'friends' back in the camp. Once they are fully at the location, he turns to Y2K and watches the other rookie move about like a drunken boxer.
His tail flicks a little, as his ear fins go back just a bit. There was a low, but playful growl, as he moves in with a sudden push off of his clawed food, sand kicking up behind each step. As he moves in, he goes to leap suddenly in the air and then goes to land down in what he believes might be Y2K's next, possible, location, and wracks his claws downward with the land, though trying to control his own strength as he does so to not hurt the other digimon.

"For the most part, yes, but to be honest I wasn't sure at first since this was the most challenging adventure I've been on since I went out on my own." Kshin said.
"Good thing we had Grace's ability to quickly make clothes so we could disguise ourselves as ninjas from another clan. You know the human saying fake it until you make it?" Grace said bouncing on the tips of her feet at hearing the prospect of a sparing match. Grace had always been peppy and energetic so she asked "Can I spar next? Kshin always beats me when we spar and I'm a bit older than he is." She then looked at Kshin and asked "Why did you get so lucky to have an older brother into karate?" Kshin just shrugged in response.
Grace giggled at Y2K's statement regarding not firing toward the camp and playfully said "Yeah probably would be a bad idea cause you don't want Mona to suplex you." Mona shook her head in response but continued her work.
Meanwhile Kshin and Grace sat down and proceeded to eat their food while watching Y2K begin to bob and weave erratically around in a puzzling manner. As for Duke he was growling but it was far from aggressive in anyway. He made his moves kicking up sand as he moved before leaping into the air leaping where he thought Y2K would next be while wracking his claws downward in a controlled manner. This was amazing to see considering Guilmon and its X Antibody variant were known to be warriors which made Kshin wonder if his little sister Lilly would be a warrior too.

Y2K had swayed out of the way by only a fraction of an inch, and leading Y2K to say; "Hello!" before attempting to deliver a headbutt to Duke's nose before trying to leap back to disengage. The headbutt if it could connect would likely prove more irritating than painful unless the Guilmon X's snoot was really sensitive.
Rai listened to Kshin and Grace describe how they had masqueraded as ninjas themselves at some point in the adventure thanks to Mona's skilled craftsmanship. "How long did the disguises last? They can't have fallen for that forever." he thought at least. "Or did you not have to use them very long?"
He looked over to the little sparring match at Grace's request to go next. It looked like they knew what they were doing. He hoped neither of them would go overboard though.
He acknowledged that this was important to Y2K and not something he could just forbid so the little guy wouldn't get hurt; he was a Digimon after all, not a human child. Play fighting had to be important, with how violent things could get in the Digital World.

Duke would have responded to Grace's request to go next, but he was dealing with a nimble rookie known as Y2K. The Keramon bonked with his head against the Guilmon X's snout, which cause the other rookie to step back a few times.
He wiggled that snout of him, before he snorted out some smoke. Those eyes took on a more sharp, focused look, as he moved back in. He feints a swipe toward Y2K, with his claw, in hopes to throw the other digimon off. While the real danger came in as he continued to turn around to try and whack the fellow rookie with his draconic tail!
Combat Log:
(Was suggested to post Duke's passive, so here we go!)
* Passive: X-Antibody: The X-Antibody has started to come into full effect for Duke. It raises his defense level slightly, along with his physical strength. It also minorly increases his resistance against status effects. [ Effect: +3% Defense | +5% Damage | Reduces the duration of the first debuff inflicted by 1, so long as its maximum duration is 2 or greater ]
* Attack: Basic [No Effect]

Y2K proved to be just as agile as Kshin expected seeing as he had a form that looked at least somewhat graceful as he swayed out of the way but barely before attempting a headbutt of his own making contact. Apparently that attack didn't bother Duke all that much as the Guilmon X stepped back his eyes taking a sharper focused look. When he snorted out smoke both Kshin and Grace knew this would get serious as Duke then swiped his tail at Y2K.
"You're right. They didn't but at least the outfits were nice. That and when we explained everything they let us help." Kshin said. Yes he did enjoy the ninja outfit and maybe he might get more use out of it in the future. Why waste a good thing, right?
Looking at Rai, Kshin then said "Don't worry, Rai. This is just sparring and it isn't uncommon for many digimon to do this since strength tends to be important to many digimon. Sure there will be the rare exceptions that don't seek strength like Mandrake but from what I've seen that seems rare so far."

Y2K fell for the feint moving to avoid the claw and taking Duke's tail to his body of relatively thin tendrils, falling to the ground before rising back up like a punching doll, seemingly using the tips of his tendrils as his fulcrum to pivot back upright. "Kekekeke!" Y2K cackled. "I bet Duke has fire breath! How's mine?" he opened his oversized mouth like a muppet doll and cackled "Bug Blaster! Kehehye!" and spat two balls of destructive pink light while laughing in Duke's direction.
They weren't as nearly big as usual Rai noted. Y2K was still holding back. The pink bullets were 50% smaller than what he'd seen him spit at FlameWizardmon. Still, he'd seen those leave spiderweb-like cracks in the surface stone and concrete.
"Those were half the size as normal." Rai stated to the digimon seated around the fire with him. "I still hope he knows what he's doing throwing those out.". He was a little on edge. While Y2K recovered quickly, that didn't mean he didn't get hurt. It was hard for him to tell from the side lines.
Combat Log
Bug Blaster (Crazy Giggle) - Spits out exceptionally destructive bullets of light while laughing manically, causing medium damage and breaking fragile objects in the blast like glass, and causing spider-web cracks in the surfaces of tough objects like concrete walls. (Used at 50% strength. Weak damage.)

Duke was not as quick as say Y2K, he wasn't known for being overly nimble, but it didn't mean he couldn't work on how to avoid! In this case, he went to avoid one blast, but got nailed by the second, possibly other's after that if more were to come.
They knocked him back and left a few digital line cracks against the Digimon's body, but nothing to serious and most at spots where it smacked at him at multiple times, which seem to be the left shoulder. Duke gave it a once over as well, but with a roll of the shoulder and going right back in, it was a nice show that while it probably smarted, it was not too serious; Or so one could hope.
"You want fire?" Duke asked Y2K. "Let me show you fire!" The Guilmon X leaped into the air, as flame could be seen flickering already around the Digimon's maw. He spun himself around in the air and then yelled out, "Fireball!" As the explosive flaming flame from his mouth. Though it was not aimed directly at Y2K, but rather to the side. It seems, like how Y2K held back, Duke was just trying to catch him in the splash damage, rather than in the direct middle of impact.
