"A-a village... oh thank goodness... i-if I weren't so cold I would be jumping for joy... Y-yes, s-sorry I asked..." He said, embarrassed by Chessmon's bluntness.
"S-second grade?" He asked, turning to look at her, almost mortified. "Th-that's terrible... they bring children to such a dangerous place with only an egg and a device they don't know how to use... wh-whoever's doing this i-is going to get a strongly worded letter... f-from someone I'm sure..." He mumbled, realizing that he'd never be man enough to face something like that halfway through his sentence. Then she mentioned the lawyer and his digimon companion.
"That rat BASTARD!" Yaku said, breaking character and stomping the ground. "M-mugging me is one thing, b-but picking fights with children? That dishonorable, disrespectful, child-hating, puppy-kicking... If I EVER run into him again I-I don't care what the police do to me! That monster is going to get the biggest lecture of his life." After a short pause and heavy breathing Yaku continued. "Then I'm going to kick the shit out of him for daring to hit on my wife! I am going to tear that suit, m-mess up his hair and BURN EVERYTHING HE OWNED, JUST TO SEE HOW HE LIKES IT! I don't care what his little bear does to me! Someone has to s-stand up to that b-bully, and he needs to learn that just because he's got s-something I don't doesn't make him a better man than me!" The normally shy and kindly Yaku went on and on about punishing this man for a few things he never went into detail about.

"It's alright, I'm used to it. I got a nice partner, a loyal partner that stay beside me all the time... Of course, nobody is perfect, but for me, a flawed one like her who share my pain is great. Whoever did this, I think they're giving me a deal, and I just happened to take it. I'm doing this by my own volition," Karin replied to the man's comment about her being a kid. Honestly, it's sort of offend her, but she'll let it pass. For this man, it's true that she's still a kid, but... well... she doesn't like to be treated as a kid.
Then, out of sudden, the man looks really furious, calling the man she described many names and threatening to do something really bad to the man. Karin sort of winced at that and kind of worries if that man really attempted to do it. However, both her and Chessmon already vowed one thing to themselves.
"...It doesn't matter how long it takes, but we're planning to do something... To beat that bear senseless if we cannot kill him. He... he killed someone... a comrade that while felt rather unbearable at times... I've took fondness of her, just like a sister... Vengeance, you might say that it's not the answer for everything, but for me, it lately become my raison d'etre," Chessmon said. "...That's why, I want to be stronger... to not leave anyone nor being left behind."

Suddenly silence. Yaku turned to look at them, horrified. "H-he's killed someone too?" Suddenly Yaku's meager outlook of vengeance seemed to be the smallest thing in the world. "H-he could have killed me..." The color ran away from the businessman's face as he realized how very close to death he was. As he approached the village yet another recurring element in his life came to fruition as a group of SnowBotamon and regular Botamon seemed to come out of the woodwork to investigate the strange being that had neither spirit nor digimon and arrived at their village. Yaku fell to his knees, mere feet from the village at large as he looked at his hands. Normally, this would have terrified and confused Yaku, who'd had this happen to him two times before, but as he was coming to grips with his own mortality the tiny children making adorable noises and asking questions were just ignored, a minor detail in the heat of the moment. One question stuck out in Yaku's mind as he sat on his knees.
"...But he didn't. He had every chance to kill me... how come? He took all my money and left me facedown on the pavement after I insulted him and his partner... yet here I am with everything but the money he burned." As various younger digimon played atop the confused and mentally paralyzed businessman, it was quite clear his mind had come to a complete halt.

"...Tridori-dono, forgive me for being really blunt, but let me spell it out for you... He thought that you aren't worth for killing, basically. It'll just be a foolish thing to kill you. A really useless move that would only waste his energy. You're not a Digimon, hence your data wouldn't mean much for him... you're not someone who harms him and put him in some life threatening, or at least great annoyance, like we do," Chessmon spilled all her thoughts out. The puppet Digimon's voice sounded both cold and sad.
"We're too occupied on defeating that guy up that we forgot that we can run anytime... Like I said, a comrade of mine died. Digimon or not, she's still dead in my eyes... dead once. She's never the same anymore... and I guess, me neither. That's why, Tridori-dono, please get away from this kind of place where the strong eat the weak like this. Living without adventure might be boring... but what does it spells if you heads for one recklessly? You yourself already tasted it firsthandedly."
Chessmon stroked few YukimiBotamon like a caring elder sister. Karin, looking at that, cannot help but to think that perhaps the puppet Digimon felt greater loss than her.
"...As for us, Digimon and our partners... our fate are set on stone. We're Digimon magnet, and it'll just be matter of time that we have to fight much stronger Digimons. We have to get strong for the sake of our partners' and our own survival. Well, that aside, let's go to the inn, shall we? Talking in much warmer place would be a better option... or should I help you now that you're not in shape to move?."

Yaku sighed as he listened, reaching down to try and pet one of the Botamon, who just shied away from his hands. "Y-you're right... I-I don't understand how this world works. H-how all these digimon come from, where they go, why they want partners... why I was stranded here with nothing... I-I'm weak, I'm confused, I'm not worth anything... I-I want to go home to my wife, to my house, to my job. I wanted adventure and a change of pace, but here I am... starving and thirsty in the middle of an endless drift of snow..." Teardrops fell into the snow as he stood up, knocking a few baby digimon off of his back and into the snow. "L-let's go..." As he began heading into the village, ignoring the baby digimon who followed his every step like hey were training to be paparazzi. As he saw an inn his pace slowed, as if he was not actually believing what he saw before him was real.
Slowly, the man entered, careful not to harm the little crowd around his ankles. As he approached the front desk he frowned as he saw that everything was written in a language he couldn't read. Confused, disturbed, and annoyed, Yaku began ringing the service bell... before remembering that he was with company. Turning to the two ladies he bowed. "S-sorry... I-I should have let you two choose where you wanted to go... I-I'm very, very sorry..."

"It's quite alright, Tridori-dono... however, when dealing with DigiCode..." Chessmon pointed at the sign with her spear "you can ask a Digimon to read it. This part said 'on break'. As tempting it is to go to the tavern, it'll be really inappropriate for a minor to go there. Let's just sit somewhere near the fireplace, shall we? Look, over there. It said 'Warming Lounge'. We can return once the lunch hour are over... Maybe, we also can ask for food... but that's to the tavern, too, right? We can pay for you, no worries."
Karin have no idea what to do right now. She's honestly confused. What will she gain from helping this man? What actually happened to her so that she moved so easily? No... she think she understood one thing. She might be feeling really guilty for letting someone died in front of her... Ahh, why oh why something like this happened so fast?
"...This is Digital World, let's not fret about minors and whatnots. Toss those rules out of window... as long as I don't drink beer, that'll be fine."

Yaku smiled and bowed to Chessmon and her partner once more. "Th-thank you, I-I'm really starting to feel like a... um... hanger-on, though... I-I can pay for my own train tickets after this... I have a few spare bits..." The bits system was far too confusing for the businessman. Somehow he just seemed to gather them like he gathered the baby digimon who followed his footsteps. He wasn't complaining about the free money, but it felt odd to find himself in a society where money just seemed to snowball the longer he left it in his pocket. Not to mention he wasn't exactly sure how or why bits would turn into an actual holdable and usable objects only to vanish the moment he ceased using them. Not to mention he was unsure how these things were transferred in terms of yen. A few thousand would buy you a new bike or a prosthetic arm while one hundred of them were enough for a candy bar. The economics of the digital world weren't exactly the most important thing at the moment of writing, of course. There was more important things like how hungry he was, how he'd needed to urinate from doing nothing but drinking melted snow for several days, and how the baby digimon were trying to cling onto him for some indiscernible reason... maybe that would be a good thing to ask these young girls. Even if we, the readers, could assume they're curious about the businessman who'd come to their village, Yaku making such assumptions was less than likely.
"Um... I... I have a few..." He stuttered, trying to shake off the tiny digis from himself. "Um... Why do these things... um... I, i-it's a recurring problem. Wh-why do these little..." He held his briefcase out of the reach of the babies. "Whenever I try to go somewhere I find myself swarmed with these little guys... i-is there a reason? D-do they do this to everyone o-or am I the only one?" After a short pause he shuddered. "A-and where's the restroom?"

"It's alright," Karin replied curtly. "I myself tends to bring something to Digital World, mostly some bento so that I won't starve. Too bad, I just ate mine back in the train. Also, if you're in need for money, I suggest you looking at some boards. They often offer some part time jobs. Make sure to do it at Terminus, for the sake of better access," she suggested.
At Yaku's question, Chessmon stayed silent for a bit before asking something in rather amused tone.
"Would you like a serious answer... or a joking answer? Either way, serious, one of them probably thinks you as a potential partner, or something like that. You're here without Digivice, without partner... you're free, basically. Probably, one of them thinks they can be your partner... maybe, of course. Digimon grow stronger by getting data from human... that's the main reason of Digivolution... joking one, they're coming at you because you're an adult, and this is near new year looking how it's always Christmas here, so they want you to give them some new year money."
She then pointed at a sign which pointed at somewhere.
"...Over there, follow the sign and you'll arrive to the toilet. Please, be careful to not go to the female toilet."

Yaku excused himself to run to the restroom. I will not go into detail in the events that transpired in the bathroom, as that would be a violation of the man's privacy and just be in bad taste all around. Instead, while Yaku preforms his business I-Oh wait, he's finished. Nevermind. Breathing deeply in relief as he returned, Yaku had done everything to make sure he had returned to a proper appearance. He'd dried his suit and tried to make it wrinkle free, he readjusted his collar and toupee, he'd even cleaned off his face and hair!
Bowing once again as he rejoined the two, carefully avoiding the little babies that followed his every movement, he sighed. "A p-potential partner?" He reaches down to try and pick up one of the digimon, only for it to latch onto his fingers and not let go. As he tried fruitlessly to pull the SnowBotamon from his hand, he stopped when she mentioned Digimon gathering data from him. "F-from me? B-but I need my data... I-It's the only thing I know that contains my mind and soul in this crazy, backwards world..."

"Um, with your data, does you mean something related to your works? That's not really it if that's the case," Chessmon replied to the man's worry. "It's a strange thing, I don't know how it's possible, but... by using power of Digivice, the holy device, human can send some amount of data which in turn, make Digimon 'evolves'. As you know, we --Digimon, or Digital Monster, if you please-- made of data. Should we gain more data, we can evolve. That's just how it is. A small fresh like this YukimiBotamon can ends up being a strong snow Digimon, or even a great divine Digimon such as Ophanimon, should they're raised correctly..."
She put her hand on the underside of her helmet thoughtfully before deciding something.
"Alright, why don't I just show you? Mistress, accessing that form should be something you can do normally like how you accessed my other prior forms."
"...Ah, right, let's try it. OK, Chessmon, let's do it!"
Bars of light energy ascended to the ceiling, as usual, encircled by digital letters before uniting at the vertex, creating showers of data in shape of golden flame sparks, which momentarily show a silhouette of knightly angel. The flame sparks descends to Chessmon rapidly.
"Chessmon, Shinka!" ; With flash of light, the puppet Digimon's body changed into the said figure.
"Darcmon!"
From the short puppet Digimon to the knight angel, Darcmon smiled slightly.
"This form suits me better afterall... Well, then, Tridori-dono, this is what we call 'evolution'. For some reason, human's emotion are converted into data by the Digivice, then it's transmitted to us. The stronger the emotion is, the easier it is for us to reach higher level. However, it's not enough... foods, in other means, energy... then, experience and finally the situation... three of this must be fulfilled before we can evolves."

Yaku flinched as he saw the bright light engulf the mon, instinctively looking away so his eyes wouldn't... you know, burn horrificly like fried eggs staring at the sun for far too long. Afterwards, he looked back, blinking as he saw the large woman standing before him. "Wow... th-that's... emotions? B-but you take emotions? H-how does...?" Yaku shook his head, confused. "L-let me try again..." He said, not noticing he'd lowered his briefcase back down to where the baby Digimon could bounce onto it without trouble. "Emotions from your... p-partner let you grow bigger. B-but she still has her emotions, d-doesn't she? I-If she does, then how much data is it until she loses her emotions entirely?"
As he continued discussing the confusing the concepts of Digivolution, the babies finally were able to knock the briefcase from Yaku's hand, causing it to open and all the papers to fall on the ground. Gasping, Yaku immediately began trying to get them back, the various babies playing with important documents like they were the best presents they'd ever recieved... so naturally, Yaku trying to get any of them back was not as easy as anticipated. If the two were to notice it would seem Yaku was looking for one item in particular, although he would still put the papers he was able to retrieve back in his case.

"..No, that's not the case. You can say, the data came from the emotion of the 'suitable' person... yet that emotion will not be literally consumed, see... It's more like this... The bond you have to your Digimon is like a mental link. The stronger a particular emotion is, the suitable it is for battle, the Digimon in return, will grow stronger. It's complex, but I think this explanation would do. Some Digimons, however, tends to feed on some strong emotion, making you slave of that emotions... However, most partners are kind to you and will not drive you crazy... I, am of course the former one who will protect my partner and will not drive her crazy," Darcmon explained.
Too bad, the suited man however, got his briefcase knocked by a baby Digimon and the content just spilled over. Karin sighed slightly at the mischievousness of the babies and helped the man. Really, she have no idea that this would happened to the partnerless people... Sounds like something unbearable. Noticing the man looking for something in particular, Karin quickly asked.
"What are you looking for, Tridori-san?"

"A ph-photo, of me and my wife. I-it's all I have of her. It's all that's keeping me moving forward!" With all the baby digimon scattering everything around and him fumbling with the papers, it came to no surprise that he was getting nowhere fast. Finally, as he sighed in relief he was able to find the photo. Unfortunately, a SnowBotamon had gotten ahold of it and was not letting go. "Ah, Th-there it is... c-come on little one. I-I just want the paper..." He leans over to try and grab the photo, but the baby begins bounding away. "H-hey! Stop that!" As Yaku began running after it, the papers of various important business people remained with the rest of the kids, probably unimportant to this story unless a third party were to enter this situation.
Speaking of third parties, from someone's perspective a man in a suit chasing a small child around may not be the best thing to walk in on in terms of a third party perspective. Especially if that happens to be your child. As Yaku continued to chase Snowbotamonhe eventually felt himself be picked up by his collar. "What are you doing to my son?" Asked a tall, pale woman with a revealing and intimidating leather set of clothing. She held Yaku with her massive red claw, her tattered scarf blowing in the wind beside her flowing white hair. Oh, she was also twice Yaku's size. So naturally the grown man was both mortified and aroused.

As much as it's something admirable to talk out with the babies to give her the papers, Karin thinks that perhaps, although in different way and meaning, something that could be called 'amazing' is Yaku's streak of bad lucks. Karin sweatdropped. Ladydevimon is not something she can deal with. One wrong move and they'll be all dead. However, Darcmon stepped forward to the virus Digimon. When she thought probably the Champion would dare to challenge the Ultimate, Darcmon just bowed down in apologetical manner.
"I'm very sorry for my companion's rudeness, Ma'am. It's just that your son have something really important for him... he has been stuck in this world alone, partnerless, for more than a month now and has yet able to come home. Please, do tolerate him. Human without companion in this world would most probably enter breakdown state already, yet I'm sure, without that picture, he would unable to move forward... Once again, I beg you, please forgive him and please, return the item back to him."
...Equality at its best? Karin have no idea that relationship between an angel and a devil can take turn like this... However, perhaps Darcmon not some bigoted angel or anything remotely close to that?

"Oh... he's looking for a partner is he?" She asked, rubbing Yaku's chin with her spare arm, the man shivering at her touch. "Interesting... My little boy needs a daddy~" All the colors from his face began draining as he was understanding what she was getting at. "But I dunno... perhaps if you had something to trade I'll give him the picture and give him back to you... after all, such a small, feeble man probably couldn't handle more than one woman."
Yaku panicked. "I-I can't um... I-I'm flattered b-but I'm already..." He held out his hand with the wedding ring. "I'm married! I already have a wife! A-and she's almost pregnant!" Yaku hoped this would persuade the mon... but as a devilish smile rolled across her lips it seemed he'd done just the opposite.
"Ohoho! My new pet has experience too? This little man is getting better all the time..." As she picked up the SnowBotamon and took the picture from its mouth her smile only grew. "Mmmm, and she is quite the catch too... perhaps I should find her as well... Don't worry you two, I can keep VERY good care of him if you can't find anything of my liking..."
