Drunken Volition (Digimentle Hunt; Panz)

Vetina shrugged at M's reply. Apparently she believed he had some secret method to at least in part offset the beer he would have to drink to win the contest. That was fine by her, as she too has a method to offset the alcohol she would need to consume.
The first round had started, and Vetina easily drank in the first mug, placing it back down with little more than the remnants of foam. Vetina was no drinker (but not unfamiliar with consuming the stuff), although while she was unsure how M was with the stuff, based on what she remembered of Pure he probably wasn't.
She had a funny thought, sending a smirk on her wide mouth, as she spoke to M again. She didn't whisper as softly as M did, although what she said wasn't exactly incriminating if anyone did hear.
"Fine. Should you own victory, the prize, I'll be content in you taking home beer gut as well."
She crossed her arms, waiting for her 'Round 2' to be given her.

M gave no response to Vetina's comment. He didn't really have much time to as the drinks for the second round were quickly being placed. M took the chance to scope out the competition, taking notice that despite there confident domineer, they were obviously starting to get tipsy. They probably wouldn't last the next two rounds, if they even make it through the next.
Then as everybody began to drink, a few of the lightweights in the bunch began to go down. Everything seemed to be moving along smoothly. M didn't even feel buzz yet and already a few of the other competitors were out of the battle. It's what they get for attempting to win his prize. Now as long as things move along as plan, that digimental is as good as his.
((I honestly don't know what else to really do to make this exciting. So if you want to skip transition to the final few in your next post, you can.))

The drinks quickly came, and Vetina downed each and every one. M seemed unfazed from all the drinking. Vetina, in the other hand, seemed to sway slightly after a few drinks, as if forcing herself to keep going. Granted, she was really faking it. M wasn't looking fazed, but if Vetina, who some saw come in with M, also looked unfazed... even the drunkards would think she was cheating with him.
Which she is.
The contestants were whittling down, seeing other contestants tap out, faint, and in two cases just outright left to vomit outside. There were only 2 others now aside from Vetina and M...
"Lesse the next to geyser! Get chummed out by a *beeellllch* pal Galmon! Don't fear to flee, be only me!"
Vetina was getting into her drunken acting and boasting, swaying about in her chair as if trying to fight to keep balanced as she let loose another beer belch. But she hoped this would be over soon so she could expel most of the beer.

Vetina might actually be surprised to hear this, but M was not actually cheating himself. In fact, one might say that he's playing just as fairly as the others. While he may be in a body of a terriermon, that was not his true body. His true body was that of a fairly large champion level digimon that has taken refuge within Pure. A body that has been known to go on a drinking binge or two in it's time.
So far there were only four contestants left. Vetina, himself, and two others M did not know. While M may seem unfazed by the drinks, he was already beginning to feel the effects of the drinks to effect his mind. This was starting to make it difficult for him to concentrate his efforts into transferring the drink into his own body. So far he's done well to make sure that doesn't happen, but one false drink into Pure's system could easily cause his body to tap out.
The next couple rounds of drinks came and went, and M was beginning to fear that these last two contestants may prove to be the toughest of the bunch. Neither of them seem to be going down anytime soon. Then, by some luck, one of them seemed to have reached his limit as he fell face first onto the table. That just left one last contestant. A Nanimon that confident looked at the two of them as he chuckled.
"You best be ready to lose. *hic* Neither of you are going to best *hic* me" He boost before taking the next drink in front of him and chugging it down in one gulp. It was obvious from how he talked and moved that he was already heavily intoxicated, so it shouldn't be long before he throws in the towel.

Several more rounds, and now they were down to three, the last being a Nanimon. Vetina was surprised that even M was getting quite drunk. And here she thought the little guy had some surefire way to stay in the game. Granted, Vetina thought she had this in the bag herself.
Vetina was using her ability to produce fruit and vegetables to draw in the beer and out of her system (how her body does this is kinda complicated, Vetina says). But while Vetina was still acting drunk, she was not too far from becoming actually drunk. Traces of alcohol were in her actual system, and it was taking all her concentration to not vomit most of it back up. She was feeling tipsy, and all this fake wobling was making her really ill, so she stopped.
"Dearie, mayhaps the barley *urp* intake of myself was... urk... hyperbolized slightly..."
Another round, and it seemed all three were on the verge of tapping out. Another round, and Vetina was about to give up... until the Nanimon tapped out mid-drink. Yes, it was just the two of them! The egg was M's!
And her slight relief had caused a lapse in concentration, and a sickening *HURRRP* came from the plant digimon. At a speed that would surprise some for a Palmon her size, she sped out the building... leaving M alone.

As M put the mug down, he looked across the table to see an unconscious Nanimon there. Wait. Is that it? He then turned as he heard a strange sound come from the strange Palmon as she ran straight towards the door out of the bar. Yeah that is it.
"And we have a winner." The barkeep said as he raised M's arm, "Congratulations. I must admit that I am impress on how well you did. I had you pegged to be the first one out. Well here's your prize. You deserve it." The barkeep then handed M the digimantle.
M clumsily took the digimantle as he stood up on shaky legs. While Pure's body might not exactly been affected by all the alcohol M had consumed, M's mind definitely was. With some difficulty, he made his way out of the bar, hearing the barkeep say something incomprehensible as he did. There he managed to quickly locate Vetina.
"Hey Celeste. Look what I won for us." M told her as he raised the egg up in victory. Wait... Who's Celeste?

Vetina had vomited in a trashcan outside where the competition was held. If one would examine her vomit (and... who would, exactly?), one would see pieces of fruit, half formed inside her. If she could help it, she would not do this again. But aside the bit of tipsyness she had, she was overall fine. She felt better after a few moments of vomiting so violently she feared she end up inside out.
Spitting out what she could get in her mouth (a time in which she wished she could produce saliva), she turned to see the drunk Terriermon walk our with his prize, muttering about some "Celeste" character or something.
"Emptied of most impurities, need I question my hearing? Who is this Celeste?"
M wouldn't have said the name unless it was of some importance. Even if M did win on his own, she helped, and he promised her info. Who was this Celeste?

"What are you talking about? Your Celeste." M drunkenly mumbled as he looked at Vetina questioningly, "Wait a second. How did you get here anyways?"
It seems that Vetina's worries were correct. He had become to drunk to answer her questions as well as she would of probably of liked. Well it's what happens to one who had chugged down several pints of ale with next to no breaks in between. Chances are he's going to be like this for awhile. Though a good shock to his system might sober him up enough to answer her questions properly. Yet, even if he was sober, would he keep his word.

(((Hope you don't mind I do all this,)))
Vetina gave an annoyed huff. He was so drunk he thought she was 'Celeste'. This would no do. So she went up to him rather quickly and would slap him across his face. Quite hard. But probably not hard enough.
"Re-aquire your faculties, Celeste is not before you. This is no state to provide your due to me. I will give you a night of respite to reclaim some of your dignity. And watch your hangover."
Reassuming her Ranamon form, Vetina would take M (and if need be, carry) to outside the village. Once there, she would spend some time creating a fire for warmth, and leaves for the drunken Terriermon to lie upon. Vetina, admittedly, felt sorry for him. Not for the drunkenness, but because, apparently, he was doing this for a Celeste. Whoever she was, this Hylden cared for her. Perhaps she would do the same in M's position... with less sneaking about, of course.
Whether M relays the info now or the morning, though, is up to him.

((Not at all. I was actually hoping you would slap him. Though I will admit the camp thing will take some thinking about.))
Maybe she was a bit more forceful then thought she was. The terriermon's face forcefully moved with Vetina's hand as she slapped him, leaving a good size red mark on his check. He seemed stun for a second as his mind processed what just happened. Her words flowed through him as he regained some of his senses.
Gods. I must have drank much more then I realized. How could I really have called Vetina Celeste? No doubt she's wondering about it that now. Though I probably could use this to my advantage. M thought as his head cleared up a little. Still wasn't 100%, but it wasn't as bad as he was earlier either.
He soon then found himself outside the village as Vetina began to create a fire. It surprised him how much Vetina was doing for him, though he doubted it was out of the kindness of her heart. She wanted answers, and he saw little reason to not give them to her. Especially when they could help turn her to his side, and he already had the digimantle in hand.
"I should apologize about that earlier. I guess those drinks took more out of me then I realized. To be honest, I should of probably have suspected something when I notice the competition was free." M told her as he rubbed his forehead above the spike.
"Let me guess, you like to know who Celeste is?" M said as a sigh escaped his lips, "I guess you deserve to know. As you may of guessed, she's... someone I care deeply for. She's my sister actually. Awhile back, something had happened to her that turned her back into a rookie, and that prison we called home began to consume her because of it. She is now in a coma, her body trying to fight as her life is slowly, but steadily being worn down.
"Now if you have any other questions to ask, now's the time to do so. I honestly would prefer to not have to answer anything while I'm dealing the hangover that cheap ale is surely going to give me."

Vetina smirked after she heard the information from M regarding who this Celeste is. "That toll of information... just might be of greater worth than you percieve. Yes yes, only your hangover will stand in for the pittance remaining."
The Palmon messed with the fire a bit more, causing it to burn hotter.
"Your jackass motion requires a jackass motion. A fair beware.
That aside, your perception of me is... a bit off. Expounding this will require, and please attempt the faculties of recollection. I will also try... stressing *try* more standard verbal clarity,"
Vetina sighed, and from her look it seems what she wanted to say had some weight to it. When she spoke, she spoke slowly, pausing often."
"I am not 'your' Vetina. She is dead. Her being is now mine, I am her. I had to... release her from pain. Crippling, wreaking, long sustaining pain. I betrayed her trust before, I did. But I loved her."
Vetina took a moment to recompose herself, trying not to cry in front of M.
"After I killed her, my mind broke. I refused to be without and took her in. And here I stand today, our own walking tribute. But as a Hylden... more pieces fall into place.
The load of the ferocity I aimed to you... was not wholly comprised of your actions to me. It was the implication of what you did to *her*. That pain *she* had was like mine. But I can see that... you aren't to be fairly convicted with her agony.
With new found clarity, and knowledge of Crystal and her friend likely seeking you out... petty revenge aside I've little else to, given personal reason, fault you for."

M was looking down at the fire as Vetina talked. He listened, sure, but wasn't exactly absorbing everything he was hearing. At least, not until he was told that Vetina before him was not 'his' Vetina. This little factoid intrigued him enough for his alcohol addled mind to pay close to what she said.
So this isn't the original Vetina, but the by product of her boyfriend merging with her. Well it seems the data I have procured is gonna be more important then I originally thought. That's good to know. M thought as he continued to listen to the rest of what Vetina said.
"Sad story. To be quite honest, I would be more then willing to point you in the direction of the b******d who took your Vetina away from you if I could? Trust me when I say that I have a bone to pick with them. Yet unfortunately, I have no idea where they are currently at, or how one could even get to them." M told Vetina, a bit disappointed in himself in not being able to point her in the right direction. It would of been so nice to be able to kill two birds with, well, a third bird.

It seems tthat Vetina and M had one thing in common, some "business" with the Hylden that harmed them and their loved ones. Still, M proclaiming this did not immediently seem to cause a reaction in the Palmon. Vetina did speak on the matter, though.
"Then of use there is only patience. Victims are the only breadcrumbs laid on the path; myself, you, Celeste, Crystal, and two others. I think... there is no 'if', but 'when' I'll see the underlying problems."
She got up, brushed her dress off, and turned away slightly away. Betty was told her rendezvous point, so there was no need to retrieve her.
"A shift of intent, I'll consider your debt fully paid. But, here is sustainance for your thoughts... You want your sister, stolen away from you. But what about the sibling you yourself stole?
Just a reminder... I cannot fathom a finale with no repricussions towards you. That cruel mistress Karma, how heavy will her hand be?"
With that, Vetina walked off, leaving M alone. She still wanted to bother him while he had his hangover, but as she stated, there was no way M could, in the end, not suffer consequences for what he did. M didn't know about Ghost, and certainly Crystal and Sanoske wanted to get Pure back. No matter what happens, she simply saw no happy end for him.

"You still believe in Karma? How naive." M said as he watched Vetina walk away. He has had more then enough experience to know there is no such thing as Karma. Good and bad things always happen no matter what you do.
He then lied on his back looking up at the stars. He honestly had no care for the twins his actions split apart. Why would he? They are nothing more then a means to the end. And what exactly is Pure's sister going to do. It's not like she can actually stop him. Not without either killing Pure or finding her. Though the chances of that happening is less then being struck by lightning the day when you win the lottery.
He has nothing to worry about. Especially not after he got the egg. Still, perhaps it would be best not to take precautions just in case. One never knows with these things.
With that, he's eyes dropped and he fell asleep with the Digimantle close in hand.
