In-Jokes Gone Too Far: Night of the Bota! (Open, Mana)

Duffer shook his head. "No, noooo no. We're already in over our heads, we need to find a cop or a government agent or something to lock this place down WITHOUT us in it. There has to be some kind of police force here... right?" Duffer asked, hoping for a positive answer. "B-besides, we don't know which way it came from and which way it went. I-If we split up we'll die a horrible death. That's how it works in the movies!" Duffer continued enjoying the energy drink. "A-a baby? A baby did all this...? A wave of babies, maybe, where it's just a massive flood of children, b-but a baby? A single baby? Th-that's insane..."
Kotemon frowned as Mana smacked the mon's hand away. "Hey! You need to respect your sensei." Kotemon reached for Kiramon, this time actually making contact with it and beginning to pet it. "...And I say we search. That gatomon put its faith in us to find her husband and for all we know he may still be perfectly safe and sound..." As they began discussing Botamon, Kotemon was, naturally, skeptical. "A Botamon. Botamon, the tiny, black, yellow-eyed digimon that cannot speak and can do little more than spit bubbles showed up, broke through a kitchen wall, kidnapped a grown digimon, and then broke the front wall of the house? ...Are we talking of the same digimon or is there a cultural thing happening?"

The Kiramon seemed to not be afraid anymore when it realised they were humans. Still, she didn't let go of Mana. She also revealed that she thought Elson had eaten Tinkermon and Drimogemon, perhaps without realising it.
"Hmm...It seems strange indeed. What do you think my general?" Silversteamdramon commented.
"Well, it's possible. I mean I know Botamons are fresh digimon, we've seen some on the village of begginings, and they're harmless, but... You saw how Mana reacted a bit ago about this Kiramon? No offense, but she's usually harmless. Of course that changes when triggered into action by her instincts. I think, however a Botamin would have gone hairless way before it spread this much fur. Yet, If a fresh digimon absorbed too much data and wasn't able to condense it into an evolution he might be in great pain, contain great power and be very dangerous and agressive due to the fighting instincts all digimon possess. Yeah, I think it's plausible we're dealing with an angry, instinct lead, oversized Botamon." Elson explained.
"Then we should get going. Maybe he's good for hunting." Silversteamdramon suggested.
"We'll go, but not hunt. That creature is always too feral or too weak to be usefull, which means we can't have it on the team. Besides the Botamon must be in pain. Killing it is the best thing we can do for the people from this place AND for the Botamon." Elson replied.
"Ok, but let's get going anyway."

Mana, still feeling that light ticklish sentation due to Kiramon's feathery body rubbing against her, couldn't but ask. "So you're like a Lucemon, Kiramon-chan? That's so awesome! What's a Lucemon, by the way?"
Ayaka sighed, but explained it nonetheless "A Lucemon is one of the most pure angelic digimon, miss Mana. You have not seen him yet, but Karin-san's digimon for some reason has his usual first two evolutionary stages. Yet, if I recall correctly... his appearance resembles the one of a human child; a male human child".
The girl, of course, didn't care about the last bit of her partner's speech, and just smiled at the little angelic being. "Oh, now I see why I thought I had seen you before Kiramon-chan! You're really alike to Puttimon-san! Maybe you were family or something like that? Digimon families are cool!" she then looked at Kotemon, with an offended expression "What!? You're not my sensei! You're mean to your partner, a mon who does that could never be my sensei! And if you try to hurt Kiramon-chan, you'll really regret it, take that for sure!"
As the girl continued to do all kinds of possible pampering to the fresh digimon, Ayaka went back to Elson's clues. "A really big Botamon, you say? Well, why would that exist in first place? A baby's data is somewhat unstable, so I really doubt that his body could handle really large amounts of data without his body losing shape and becoming something... well, gross. Maybe it's just a really large group of them rampaging around, but then again... why would a group of Botamon, of all digimon, go kidnapping other digimon? This is just... senseless"

These humans were as different and varied as Digimon, it seemed. One of them was rapidly losing his composure; Kiramon kept an eye on him. "What's a police force?" His Digimon friend was much more likable, and Kiramon allowed it to pet her. The petting was something she would never get tired of. Purring at the lovely sensation, she thanked her lucky stars for her natural cuteness.
The other human spoke up, listing off a number of plausible explanations for the little mystery they were up against, and Kiramon was content to snooze in Mana's arms until the prospect of killing it came up. "Hey, what?! Why would you kill it?! What if that Botamon is one of my friends?!" Clearly irate that he even considered that course of action, Kiramon's normally passive expression turned into a frown and her body tensed up.
By her tone of voice, it would be clear that Mana and Ayaka's speculations were lost on Kiramon. If they planned to approach their suspect with hostility as a first resort, the Mini Angel would have no part in it, and might even dare to oppose them. She wasn't very strong, but this Digimon did not want to see others getting deleted.

"Nothing ABOUT your world makes sense." Duffer countered. "Whatever's making this place black and white might be involved with the monster too. It's not like you can simply write something off like that... Regardless, we should leave... but if I try to leave I'll be alone and die first... but if I don't leave I'll be more likely to die..." As Duffer dealt with the conflict of how much he'd be willing to gamble his life on, Kotemon frowned at Mana.
"That's because he is an idiot. I'm working on fixing that, and any human that is with Duffer is my student, for better or for worse. They are my responsibility and under my safety... regardless, we need to take a plan of action and I believe the sooner we face this issue, the better." Kotemon nodded, holding a tone of superiority over the conversation like a piece of string above a kitten, dangling so tauntingly close above them, but if they pulled it bad things happen, but it's moving too and fro so nimbly and carefree li- sorry, distracted by the metaphor. What I'm saying is arguing with Kotemon is a bad idea, because it fights dirty.
Thankfully, before we could be sidetracked by anything, the plot began returning as the ground began rumbling.

"Please tell me you never saw a fresh level digimon before Kiramon in your life, Ayaka." Silversteamdramon complained "It's obvious that even if you had a billion botamon's you'd never be able to do this to a house. And if their datat is unstable then my general's explanation is right, most likely."
"Thank you for defending me Silversteamdramon, but you gotta work on being a little more...I'll say diplomatic on what you say to people." Elson asnwered "And Kiramon, a digimon is reborn after they die. Which means that if this fresh level digimon, running on instincts dies, he'll just come back better and without killing what he shouldn't be harming. But I gotta agree with Duffer on two things. First this doesn't make sense at all. Second the color removal of the place could be related to the botamon."
"Let's follow the tracks my general." Silversteamdramon suggested again and he began running in the direction the fur lead him too, sometimes even making full circles just to keep following the tracks perfectly. And Elson had to follow him."

As Ayaka argued with all the conversation's participants (except Duffer), Mana whispered into Kiramon's ear. "A police force are a bunch of guys who search for baddies and make them pay for the badness they did. Usually they're cool too!".
Yeah, Ayaka was totally in the mood of some arguments as she began refute the points she had been given. "Excuse me, but I would not ever allow such a rude being as you to tutor miss Mana, Kotemon-san, and I am saying that as a more apt being than you. So please refrain from those ignorant claims or I will have to use methods that we both regret later.
And Silversteamdramon-san, I have seen plenty of fresh digimon during my life, but I could make a similar question to you two. Have ever seen a giant Botamon? Because you are believing that something that has not been documented before exists really readily, instead of more... reasonable approaches, like believing that actually another digimon broke through this house and left the Botamon hear to divert any suspicion towards him. A giant Botamon is just a ridiculous idea. I mean, the reason for it to exist would be if someone decided to make reality an overused meme from one of those internet forums, but I digress. Kiramon-chan has a point, we should not even consider the use of lethal force unless we prove that the 'Botamon' as you put it is both feral and hostile".

Rumble rumble rumble.
Was she the only one that felt that? Kiramon twisted her face in confusion as the conversation went on with, or without her. Still, she did want to make one thing clear. "I know how Digimon work! That does not make it right! At least make sure it's the only way first." She still was not happy about the way he was approaching this, but what was Kiramon going to do? Fight him?
Rumble rumble rumble.
Seriously, did nobody else feel that?! "Um...," she started before Mana joined in on the conversation and told her what police were. "Ah...that's cool but...," again, she was cut off by Mana's partner, who seemed to have quite a lot to say.
Rumble rumble rumble.
Was this argument really relevant? Were they not supposed to be finding the Botamon instead of speculating on its existence? At least she agreed with her on one thing, but still, they were getting sidetracked. One of the Digimon seemed to have the right idea at least, but there was that other matter.
Rumble rumble rumble.
"Um...ah, excuse me," she spoke up when she believed it was finally her turn. "What is that rumbling anyway?"

"As long as both of you are with Duffer, it is my responsibility to keep all of you safe." Kotemon restated. "Like it or not I have fai-" As the rumbling grew louder, Kotemon found itself cut off of the backstory that would connect the four more closely than anticipated. However interesting it would be to discuss Kotemon's guilt over the slain digimon, how it lost the mon a few friends and allies, the mon's self-respect, the mon's ability to give up on anyone in need... etc, etc, etc, we have a botamon to see dammit and nobody will let me rest until they see the damned thing, so screw character arcs.
As the thumping grew louder, Duffer grew more and more worried, rushing over to hide behind his partner in an attempt to stay safe. "Everyone be quiet..." The boy warned. "M-maybe whatever it is it'll stay away if it thinks it's alone..." Kotemon sighed and began taking out its training sword, glaring in the direction the thumping was coming from.

Both Elson and Silversteamdramon ignored the Kiramon, they had other things to get their focus on if they were to move on. Ayaka began to criticise Elson`s opinion, causing a sort of anger from Silversteamdramon.
"I agree with my general and that`s final, Ayaka. To just outright suggested his completly wrong is..." silversteamdramon began.
"Wait Silversteamdramon. Maybe Ayaka`s right, maybe the Botamon is just another hostage that..." Elson was saying as he got interrupted by the appearing...of a single, way oversized Botamon. Maybe Elson was right afterall
"YEAH! I told you, Ayaka! I told you my general was right! It was a giant Botamon!" Silversteamdramon bragged to ayaka, poiting at her and then at the botamon.
"Silversteamdramon! behave!" Elson shouted. Silversteamdramon stopped. "Now. gatomon, or whatever your name is...what was your husbands level?"

The rumbling grew louder, and even at the distance, a giant ball of blackness began to roll towards them. It seemed that the giant Botamos was indeed REAL, yet Mana found a bit a Elson's conversation to be mostly weird "Wait, Elson-san. There's no Tailmon in here. I know that we should be getting ready to interact with the giant Botamon, be it for pet it and hug it should it be peaceful, and well, to do what we have to do if he's hostile".
"I cannot believe it. It is... real?" In cue, a giant ball of black hair rolled even faster towards them, but it seemed like it was losing patches of... skin? as it closed on them. Finally, when it reached them, the only thing that remained was this.
They new digimon guffawed and looked with disdain at the digimons and humans gathered in there before running in the opposite direction as fast she he could.
Yet, Mana found some strange sense in all this madness. "Oh, so that was the Tailmon you were refering to, Elson-san! You were pretty clever! I couldn't have figured that one by myself!"
"I knew it! Giant Botamons do not exist! I knew all this had a logical explanation. Hopefully this madness will now end now, and maybe we will find the real culprit behind this thing".
At least now she found a little bit of sense. It was just a Betsumon doing his stuff, nothing more and nothing less. Or at least she hoped that.

Kiramon was more than a little disturbed at what she saw. Rather than the giant Botamon she, and indeed, the rest of them were expecting, what was revealed turned out to be a most horrid looking thing. She wanted to attack it. Or make it go away somehow. Or leave herself. Something, anything to stop looking at it. By some miracle, the aberration ran off of its own accord.
"Nope, I don't think so. Not going after that thing." Kiramon's face was marked by annoyance. Honestly, the appearance of that thing was so horrifying that she struck the memory from her mind as best as she could. "Well, I'm off to find a real adventure! I hope I see you again Mana!" Kiramon wiggled out of the girl's grasp, willfully denying the existence of what she just saw, and flew away as quickly as she had arrived earlier.
Kiramon was not quite sure where it was, but she did have a pretty good idea of what her first real adventure would be. Off in search of a famous haunted house in the Eastern Timberlands, Kiramon flew away into the black and white horizon until the colors returned to normal for her.
((thread exit! Only because this is a convenient excuse to sync continuity with her Spooky Mansion story. Have fun!))

But the thumping continued and as the crew stared at the terrifying, terrifying digimon that frankly never should have existed in the first place. Seriously, Betsumon needs to die in a fire and never return. Regardless, as the group began talking, Kiramon leaving the group outright, something still felt off about the whole "world is still black and white". That's when it happened. As a loud yawn came in the distance Duffer gasped and held close to Kotemon, trying to turn the mon around. Failing that and only covering up Kotemon's face with the back of the helmet, Kotemon sighed deeply. "Duffer... before I hit you, why did you do that?"
"Th-there's... I-it's... s-something's over there!" Duffer said, pointing into the distance. "Duffer, you're being paranoid, it's probably nothing... now fix my helmet before I break your legs." As Duffer did as ordered, hiding behind the mon companion, Kotemon finally began turning around to see the impossible. "Oh my god..."
Before them was a large black mass with yellow eyes and two tiny lumps that looked like ears. Before anyone could get too good a look at the poorly manufactured life-sized model, it was quickly replaced with a giant sleeping bota- wait, sleeping? Goddammit... As the narrator tried to gently awaken the giant botamon from slightly to the left of where anyone could see it (meaning they couldn't), the green-screened mon and tamer stared in awe and horror, respectively.

"See you later Kiramon! I'm looking forward to see you again!" after the little angel flew in the distance, Mana became somewhat weirded out. After all, weird Tailmons didn't make the entire world black and white. So what was really happening in here? As she was about to to ask Ayaka about what she thought about that strange phenomena, she heard a loud, yet cute yawn at the distance. Duffer gasped and held onto Kotemon, and then Mana gasped too and as she saw the thing. It was... no, it just couldn't be, right?
"Ayaka, you're supossed to be the skeptic one... tell me that I'm not seeing what I'm seeing".
Ayaka, being the one who had defended the rational explanation all this time, couldn't but behold the thing with her mouth agape. "Unbelivable" she uttered that same second "This cannot be possible. This must be some weird contraption made by a deranged mind. There is not any other reasonable explanation".
The pair remained there, too petrified to do something apart from their irrational ramblings and makeshit explanations. Yet, as the gigantic black ball yawned, Mana saw that it didn't really look like a monster, but rather, just as a giant baby. It was... cute even.

"W-what do we do?" Kotemon asked, silently. "I think it's trying to sleep... we just gotta sneak away quietly before it spots us." "What happens if it spots us?" "It's a giant baby, Kotemon. It will probably stick us in its mouth." "Urgh, gross... If that's the monster where's the Veemon?" "Does it matter? We need to leave." Duffer said, hiding behind Kotemon. "Let's go hide in the house's basement. We can lock the door and regroup." "Duffer, that's a stupid idea. If it gets into the basement we'd be cornered." "Not if it doesn't know we're in there. It's half-asleep and probably doesn't understand human speech yet, we just have to keep away from it."
As the two bickered silently about where to hide, the botamon woke up, yawning again and beginning to look around. As it blinked and looked at the figures before it, it began making bubbly noises and trying to approach. Naturally, the thing was curious about what sat in front of it... and why it was next to a scale model of a ruined house. As it began looking around, the ground rumbled at the creature's movement.
