Charles smiled back at Mana, joy filling him with her words. Yet, guilt grew in him with what she said next, about how she wasn't all that sure, about how it seemed she had to cry before he would notice... He knew he'd end up hurting her if she came with him. He just wasn't expecting it to be this way. Maybe Nightspellmon really was right, maybe this was bound to happen. There was a speaks of hope when she mentioned forgetting the past, moving on.
"Yes. Let us try once more. But, Mana, please if something hurts you again, in whatever way...please tell me. I'm not good at this, maybe it's my lack of experience or maybe it's my nature, but one thing's for certain: it's not your fault, it's mine. And I wanna fix it." Charles told Mana. He facepalmed, when mana mentioned the bill. He had completly forgotten. "I should go back there and pay up. Sorry."
Charles walked towards the Cafe again, glad Mana had reminded him about paying up. It wouldn't be good to commit even more crimes than he arledy did, having more plocie on his track. Yet, it felt like there was something else that he was forgetting now...What could it be?
He approached more and more until he felt a huge amount of a sudden pain on his shoulder. He grabbed his shirt on that area in agony and turned. He saw a kid running towards him, smiling apolegetically at him, clearly seeking the football that had just hit Charles on his shoulder. On the shoulder with the scars from the first time he became Chaoskimeramon.
A burst of anger and hatred grew within, almost uncontrollable. His legs were shaking, as he struggled to remain in control, but pain...was so intense. Charles growled, clenching his teeth.
"Hi, Sir. Sorry about that...Could I have my ball back?" The kid politly asked. Charles, almost punched the kid, managed to stop his arm in time, his hand shaking as something tried to convince his arm to strike down the small child. Instead, Charles got down and gave the kid his ball, before turning back to the Cafe. What was wrong with him? What was he...wait, where was his cloak.
Charles looked around, trying to figure the answer, but to no avail. He ran towards Karin, he was worried on how bad this could turn out.
"Karin, I think I know what the cloak was for, and I need it back." Charles said, his whole body shaking, struggling to keep control over his body " I think I lost it when Mana ran off, I... I made Mana cry once. That thing can do it again, unless I get back the control the cloak was giving me."

"It's fine... I guess" Mana finally said as she wiped her tears away. Maybe a fresh start would be good for the both of them. She'd try to be less overbearing and more talkative about how she'd feel and hopefully he'd be more understandable. She didn't know how this would play out, but she wanted to cling to the hope that everything will be better. Without more to say, she devolved Ayaka into Plumulmon, preparing to stand up and resume with their date.
He then mentioned that he hadn't paid up the bill. That detail made her feel a little embarassed, as she was the indirect responsible of that, and at least that made her feel a little more cheered up. It'd have been rather unsensitive if he had paid before before following her, so... she felt it as her fault.
Silently, he followed her boyfriend until a ball hit him in the shoulder. A small child, smiling and apologizing for his mistake, wanted his ball back. She didn't pay attention to it, as her D-Terminal started beeping; it seemed to be a message from Jeanne, asking if they were still needed in here. She was about to dismiss them when...
She heard Charles growling and fixed her sights on him in that moment. He looked like as if he were to... punch the kid? She couldn't believe it! But for some reason, he calmed down and with his hands trembling, returned the kid his ball.
Mana was puzzled, but before she could say anything else, Charles ran back to the café quite fast. What was actually happening? When she finally reached that place, she saw Charles on a frantic state, talking to Karin. As she neared them, she could only make his last words 'Unless I get back the control the cloak was giving me'. What did that mean? And... what was actually happening?
"Could I get the gist of what's going on?" she asked to the trio "And... I guess that whatever is happening means that you have to still bear with us, Jeanne-chan? I'm sorry for that".

When Karin sipped her drink, she saw Charles approaching. She was about to ask him what he want (rudely) before she noticed something wrong on the older boy... He's shaking? Jeanne also tensed, obviously not liking it one bit. She turned to Karin, who eyes focused right at the boy. Right on cue, Mana came afterward... Karin stood up, slamming some bill on the table, presumably just as how much she has bought stuffs in that cafe. The long haired girl flipped her hair, making sure none would deter her vision in looking for the red object.
"I'll leave the explanation to Charles. Mana, please ask him, and Charles... tell her before it came like before again. You don't want her to leave your side, right? Then... tell her, tell her what you're missing, tell your condition right now to your girlfriend. If you can't do that, might as well as say goodbye to my trust. Jeanne... try asking the owner for security footage... I'll go ask some kids if they had seen it... Probably they thought it's some superhero cape or something..."
The holosuited Digimon nodded, going to the cafe to talk to the owner. It's obvious that Jeanne is very talented in charade as she even looks very solemn and desperate about getting the coat back. Meanwhile, Karin put on her gentle smile, asking nearby kids if they seen the red cape.

Charles couldn't bear it. The pain was growing wider by the second, Chaoskimeramon refusing to accept it's new prison. Sheer will might not sufice, as the beast fraction contained hundreds of hate-filled souls, all hungry for revenge against the world. Any world.
"Thank you." Charles told Karin and her partner as they left the care to help search. He turned to Mana, as he owned her an explanation. "I'm sorry I just ran, but she left of...I need as much help as I can..." a burst of pain emanated from his chest and he grabbed his shirt in that loaction. "As I can get. I think I just figured the reason why I went about with that cape. And it is not a good idea to loose it. I think it somehow keeps Chaoskimeramon's will in check. Mana, the last thing I want is to make you cry again, and to ask more of you after...that. This is the worst thing that could be happening right..."
Charles fell to his knees in agony. The monster inside really wanted out. Charles growled, like the wild animal he was trying to contain. He found himself almost begging for Nightspellmon to show up, take over. The first time in his life, he wanted his spirits to help. Because for the first time, he might be encountering something worse within him than his human, and sports spirits: his beast ones.
"Hey, are you okay, kid?" A waiter asked, approaching.
Charles looked up and began to stand, still shaking violently.
"I'm okay. Just a little unstable." the tall boy told the waiter. Outside, the children told Karin they saw no cloak, cape whatsoever. The owner refused to even speak to Jeanne, as he was "busy".
"Well, then stop with this opera house. I first you fake an argument with your friend here and now a medical condition? You'll still have to pay the bill you know?" The sister stated, frowning. How could this men be so insensitive? Didn't see Charles was struggling? Hatred grew within, a mindless rage that he was able to stop anymore.
Charles punched the man in the stomach, knocking him to the ground, before running of to the street again, pressing his hand on his forehead in agony.

Mana began to greatly worry about Charles. As he explained her what was exactly going on, she became more and more afraid. Apparently, that cloak kept Chaoskimeramon restrained. Great, just great; and to make matters even more interesting, his boyfriend looked to be on a truly agonizing state. He fell to his knees and it seemed to lose control with every passing second.
Darn! If that kept happening, something really bad would happen, and they needed to stop it before it became too late! The girl looked frantically at her sides, as if trying to scan for the cloak, but found nothing; nothing at all. Luckily, Charles was standing... but for some reason she just couldn't understand (as she was just too worried about him to pay attention to the argument between the owner and Jeanne), he had just punched the same waiter that had asked if him was okay, running into the street again.
With tears evident on her face and on a quick fashion, Mana brought out her wallet from her purse, and left enough money on the table next to Karin to pay at least for three of whatever she and Charles had ordered previously. "I'm sorry!" she said with a quick bow before dashing outside, searching for the boy.
Even if she was just too distracted to identify what was feeling right now, she knew that this had to be stopped in the precise instant, least a catastrophe would occur. Bringing out her D-Terminal, she began writing.
From: Tsumura Mana <Mana-chan> To: Takamiya Karin <Karin-nee> Subject: Find it.
What's happening to Charles-kun is really bad, Karin-nee! Try to find that cloak; I'll try to find him. This is not good, not good at all...
Her feelings were a secondary matter now. If Chaoskimeramon was unleashed here... this place could be leveled. She frantically began her search; hopefully she'd find him soon.

Not good, really not good. Jeanne doesn't like the way she's being told off, but quickly, the angel in disguise pressed forward with her most sincere smile. "Mister, please, I will not go without that cape. Why don't we just end this, show me the security tape and we can just get this over with? There's a... patient who would go on mental breakdown if he doesn't get that cape back... We got the tape, get the cape, and we'll simply get out from here and stop annoying you. That's all. I'll stay here as long as I need to... Why are you being so difficult? As long as you cooperate, so will us!"
And looks like Karin doesn't have any luck either. She was about to ask some nearby customers before suddenly Charles take turn to the worse. Karin nearly facepalmed but she know her role here... She'll look as fast as she can, she'll definitely bring it back for the two... but honestly, she's doubting these peoples... She really want to send Jeanne to follow after Mana, but what's the use in that? Even Ayaka is stronger than Jeanne right now. She should focus more in this...
"...If it's needed, go use force," she wrote on Jeanne's back.

Why? Why did that girl kept insisting on getting that cape. He had no idea where it was! And he really wanted to be "busy".
"Look, I can't right now. I won't just give you the security tapes, I won't risk getting robbed. I'm also "busy", so I can't really go with you." The owner told Jeanne .
"How long will you still take, sugar?" A feminine voice said from within the man's office, in a teasing , gentle tone.
"Just a minute!" the owner of the restaurant replied in a shout before looking back to Jeanne. He was beggining to sweat and he really hoped his wife didn't find out about his "hard day of work". "Look, talk to one of my staff and tell them you can see the tapes accompanied. I haven't got time to discuss right now."
With this, the owner just ran off into his office, excited.
Meaningwhile, Charles was suffering from the terrible experience of having a beast that made a skullgreymon look like a cute litle puppytrying to rip it's way to freedom from inside him. He was one of the few people on Earth (and possibly the only one even) who could claim to know what those barbarian tortures where each arm and keg of a person were pulled until the person was split apart felt like. Still, grabbing his head in agony, Charles was desperate to contain the beast's evergrwoing influence on him. He could feel it's hatred towards the world, the anger that influenced it's thoughts, hundreds of souls seeking revenge upon everyone else for forsaking them.
Children came around Charles, watching him in silence and with curiosity, like if was some struggling animal in the zoo. It angered him that those people didn't even want to help. It angered him those people were so dumb. The thought of giving in, of letting out Chaoskimeramon to destroy those children actually seemed pleasent. Charles had a hard time resisting such temptation, avoiding going mad from Chaoskimeramon's brutallity.
He turned to the children and screamed. No, he wnated to scream, to tell them to get away from him before it was too late. Yet all that came out was a loud, echoing roar, that fortunatly some of the children move back. How could he get rid of this predicament? How could he fight Chaoskimeramon's will a second time?
He knew he was loosing it, but he couldn't stop it. He back away on all fours, growling as soon as the kids made an opening. Drooling, frowning his forehead and growling he got his back against the dog statue from the Hachiko Square, beneath it's shadow, as his conscience struggled to in the very least avoid the worst possible consequence of this: Him turning to Chasokimeramon and hurting people. Or even worse: hurting Mana.

Mana ran, and ran and ran a bit more when she felt like she was not running enough. Although she had been running with no general direction and was quite distressed to the way that Charles had left the café, she was hellbent on searching for him; she'd find him; she was just sure of that.
As she continued to go through Hachiko Square with no general direction, she became quite sad about this whole situation; she had been pissed off with Charles because he didn't know what was happening on her mind or how she felt, and even didn't ask about that but... was she any better? She hadn't seen this coming, and she hadn't even noticed when the cape dissapeared, and that was without counting the fact that she, of all people had been the one who had suggested for him to take it off. She just feel horrible, but in the middle of her despair she heard a... growling sound? Besides the Hachiko statue, she had seen him; she had found him! She sent a quick 'Statue' to Karin's D-Terminal as she ran towards the boy with a concerned expression. "Charles-kun, are you okay?! I heard a strange sound near where you are!" the girl said as she approached "Why did you run away?! I was so worried about you! A-are you going to be alright? Karin-nee's searching for that cloak. Hopefully she'll find it in no time".

Disgusting. How disgusting. Jeanne looked very disgusted at the man when he's busted... so basically, he got a mistress waiting in his office... and she honestly doesn't like the sound of it the slightest. The angel in disguise quickly turned to the other employee before stomping her shoes to the floor.
"...Security tape, watch together. NOW."
Actually, even if Jeanne didn't do that, Karin would do the same and it's even more severe than just that. Probably it'll involve lot of cursing under her breath, or plain curses of hoping that guy die in horrible death... Then again, that's not important. Sense of urgency is still there... Especially when Mana has found Charles already. Karin chewed her thumb nail, wanting to send Jeanne there, but...
She quickly send a "still looking" to Mana, without even bothering to register nicknames or whatnots. If this continues, then... Then it would probably be a slaughter. She just hoped Mana is good enough to handle Charles' crazy side, the spirits.

The sister immeditaly led Jeanne to a room where she could see the security tapes, obviously scared by her tone and stomping, combined with the owner's habit of "business". There was mainly nothing: people chit-Charing about meaningless things, an argument here and there, some people reading newspapers while they drank confee... The usual Cafe stuff. However upon looking with enough attention, one could see the emplyee taking Charles's cloak from a nearby table while he and Mana were chatting. The employee had brought Mana's shake and likely thought Charles's cloak was someone's junk left there for being too lazy to throw it into the garbage,, so he had hurled into a trash can himself. However, that employee and others had also filled the can with other garbage, so the cloak would be deep beneath it by this point. The tapes showed that it was around the time the cloak was taken away that Man's and Charles's argument had begun, with Mana leaving crying and Charles going after her. Of course nobody could hear what was said...the tapes were soundless.
Outside Charles was desperate. He garbbed his head with both hands and queezed, as if trying to make it explode and end his misery. He was breathing heavily, still drooling and sitting against the Hachiko Square statue. Between growls, he struggled to resist Chaoskimeramon's control, to say as much as a word. To no avail.
Mana approach him , seeming worried. She asked Charles if he was ok, why he ran. She also promissed that Karin would find his cloak quickly. At this Chaoskimeramon's defensive senses where triggered. It was feral but not stupid: it knew Mana and that cloak where the only two things that restore Charles control over himself.
Charles forcefully got on all fours and roared wildly at Mana. The roar sounded just like Chaoskieramon's as in truth it wasn't Charles that was roaring, but Chaoskieramon through him. Charles elated to reist but he was loosing his mind. He tried to bite Mana!. A tear fell from his eye, he couldn't help himself.
"Hey kid, stop that." A police oficer said, approaching "Now, give the drugs slowly, stand up and get your hand where I can se them."
More anger and hatred grew in Charles. A police officer bossing him around? Charles was the dangerous one. So dangerous in fact he ran from his family to keep them safe and now this idiotic policeman thought they could just control him, send him home or to jail? No...
A strain of fractal code appeared in Charles's hand. He drew hi D-Tector and stood.
"What is this kid?" the policeman asked worried.
"Spirit evoltuion!" Charles yelled. He evolved to Nightspellmon. The ghost grabbed his head as well, screaming it's lungs out in a extremly high-pitched scream that caused many around to cover their ears. Then, before the policeman could react, the spirit stabbed him through the stomach, passing all the way through.

Mana staggered back at Charles' display. He was just behaving like an animal, just like... Chaoskimeramon. He had even tried to... bit her. Just in cue with him tearing up, she did just the same. Was this person the Charles she knew? Was him the seemingly kind and understanding guy she had met back then or was he really... this kind of person? Which one was the true Charles and which one the false? She felt so confused right now, with the discussion, and now this... she didn't know what to think. From her eyes, a small waterfall descended, and even if she was sad, Ayaka immediately descended from Mana's pocket, ready to evolve if the situation requiered it. "Charles, I just wanna go home right now... Can you stop this so we can go there? she asked with a really good amount of concern "I swear I won't hurt you, if you let me help you...".
Luckily (at least on the girl's mind), a poice officer approached Charles, asking him to stop and to drop the 'drugs'. Mana could wonder what was he refering to. But even before she could ask the officer besides her what was the situation, Charles was already sweeping a strand of code through his digivice, seemingly on his right mind again... or not.
After the scream that pierced her ears, the spattered blood sprayed her clothes as Mana contemplated the scene just in front of her eyes. She had witnessed murder; real human murder in cold blood just besides her. And that was without having into account the fact that she was squeamish, so the only logical thing in her mind to do was...
Screaming with horror until all the color drained from her face, passing out soon afterwards.
Ayaka, greatly alarmed by that change, evolved all the way to her most advanced stage, Acerimon, and stared at Nightspellmon with her coldest expression. Dead leaves began to fall from her hair and around her, as it changed colors to brownish-orange. As that happened, both she and Mana dissappeared from sight. They would move away a little from the morbid scene that just unfolded, and she would send a quick message to Karin
From: Tsumura Mana <Ayaka> To: Takamiya Karin <Karin> Subject: He has gone berserk.
He has already killed a police officer, Karin-san. Don't try to go here without the cape, as he can most likely target you next. We're still in Hachiko square, but we're hidden as of now. Miss Mana has passed out due to the blood she saw, but she's mostly alright. Please, find that cloak quickly!

After looking at it, Jeanne dashed to where the trashcan is. Without any care in the world, she digged it like a madman in trance, looking for a huge diamond. Trashes flying about as the holosuited angel dug the dump without any care in the world, hoping to find the cloak... even a trace of red would delight her, but honestly, she really want to find that damned red cloak and stop all this madness befor----
"SON OF A---"
She turned to Karin who nearly almost shouting expletives in English. Right now, she wonder if she even need to find that cloak and contemplating to just leave Charles to his fate... Afterall, her loyalty is to Mana and Karin, it doesn't extend to anyone beside them... Her mind began to ponder if Charles has made Mana cries even harder than before... Then, most probably the angel would slap him with all her strength from Shibuya to Kyoto and back again... or worse, say goodbye to all of this.
But apparently, it's not like that. Karin quickly ran to her side and dug faster than ever. She tossed her D-Terminal to Jeanne, who looks totally shocked when she saw what's written in it.... F*** oh f***. Now that peoples lives in great danger, she's not sure that she can honor Mana's wish of not harming her boyfriend. She won't let Mana or Ayaka die, even if they're stronger than her...
The duo keep digging, making sure that they would find it before something even worse happened.

(OOC: Actually, Charles didn't murder that police officer, though the man was badly injured. I call your attention to the fact that he was pierced through the stomach, not the chest, so he can still make it, but of course he would need Ayaka's healing to survive)
Charles roared at Mana again when she begged him to go home. Charles tried to fight it, but the bare amount of things he had to deal with...his mind was being bombarded with the brutal murder of those used to make Chaoskimeramon, all their pain, all their suffering, all so bunch of heroescould be remembered for facing evil. What about them? They were forgotten...and they'd make sure they were not forsaken again.
But Mana was crying. Charles didn't want to make her cry! He shook his head in his fight against the images...what were his desires against the will of hundreds. Was he not just another one in army of ghosts? So what he loved Mana...Nightspellmon might be right, maybe they were doomed to fail from the beggining. Or were they? Charles would try his best, till the very end...still would that end be Mana dumping him for whatever mistake he might do in the future? He was pushing his luck so far, just by getting his second chance today. But the worst thing that might have happened afterwards came to be : Chaoskimeramon.
Charles had a feeling that somehwere, Murphy was laughing his lungs out about what he was going through.
Drooling, Charles gave an unwilling hatefull stare at Mana. Chaoskimeramon did not like the sound of "won't hurt you". Everyone hurt. Nobody could stop the pain. Not now.
Later, Nightspellmon witnessed the fall of the police officer onto the ground, his stomach trespassed by his claws. The man was shaking and bleeding so much it hurt, screams and panic started to arise. Nightspellmon screamed again, this time pulling out his two hoods, turning his head into a pire of black fire from which a demonic eye emerged.
"Eye Judgement!" The ghost yelled, a beam of energy flying out of the eye in almost random directions, frying anything it hit, from exploding signs and trash cans to sewing trees in half and even making a deeply marked line on the road. Nightspellmon then got on his knees and noticed how Mana and Ayaka were gone now. Did they abandon Charles? Karin and Jeanne too? Wouldn't they even try to help the disbanded crowd at the mercy of whaever madness Chaoskimeramon forced to commit.
With another scream, Nightspellmon began clawiing the ground, pulling out in an uncontrolled rage.

For Ayaka, the safety of her partner was above any kind of damage that Nightspellmon could do, Mana was still unconcious, and leaving her alone while so was the biggest no-no in Ayaka's mind. She'd only enter the scene again either when she woke up or when Karin appeared, but before that... Whoever was at Hachiko Square should run away from that place, lest to risk suffering the same thing that the police officer did,
She kept her watch on Nightspellmon intently, making sure to not to lose him, and in the vague direction the café where Karin was too, just in case she decided to go there recklessly. As a matter of a fact...
From: Tsumura Mana <Ayaka> To: Takamiya Karin <Karin> Subject: When you come...
Send a message first. Miss Mana and me are on a safe distance now, so there is no need to hurry headfirst, and that way I will know when you are heading into the place, making it easier for me to be aware of the real possibility of Nightspellmon trying to hurt you or Jeanne on the nearby future, giving me insight on how to defend you two better.
As the time passed and the shroud dissapeared, she could only watch with sadness how Mana's beautiful dress was now stained with both dirt due to her time crying on face down in front of the statue and that police officer's spattered and now dry blood. A recently summoned protective shroud of autumn leaves surrounded her body, as no precaution was enough to ensure her safety. Yet, Ayaka could only wonder if Karin would arrive soon or not. She'd have to move alongside Nightspellmon if he decided to, after all.

The moment she found the red object, Karin grasped it and quickly slap some money on the empty table nearby while pointing at one of the waiter. "Take that as reimburse for this! I don't want to eat in place where the service is this unprofessional again!" she declared, storming out of the cafe. First they just have to be so rude to Charles and Mana, well, that's to be expected, but can't they word it better!? Second, what kind of food establishments person doing that in the office near where people would eat and drink!? That's disgusting, really disgusting!
Busy my ass... either way, let's avoid the statue first...
She signed to Jeanne to not go to the statue just yet, referring her status as Digimon... However...
To: Tsumura Mana From: Takamiya Karin Subject: re: When you come...
I got the cape. I'm approximately about three minutes away from the cafe, farther than the statue... Tell me when it's fine to intercept. I'll send Jeanne... best not to let anyone fall again before it's too late. You can support Jeanne with projectiles if you have any. She's strictly melee.
