D, G:
The matter is urgent. Please follow the following coordinates:
North: 110 Degrees; East, 98.6 Degrees. Do not use Trailmon or obvious transportation.
I am sorry for dragging you into something like this so soon. A and V will also be here. Destroy this message on receipt.
-K
"... Send."
Despite the simplicity of the message, this wasn't a simple thing for Koneka to write at all. The last time that she had reached out to Darian and Gabe for help, she ended up dragging him into a hell-on-digital earth, as her presentation in Terminus went all the way to hell. Still, considering the current state of affairs, this wasn't something that could be held off for too long.
She had set up camp on the outskirts of nowhere, in a deep cave on the far side of the Desolate Tundra. With teleportation to the above coordinates, one would find themselves right on a duct-taped "X" on the ground, a few yards away from a small fire and several laid-out cots. It was clear that this place was being used for a while now, with a number of marks on the wall marking the days that were spent here.
Currently, there were two other people here: Ami, in her usual black jacket, and her partner Digimon Valeria, currently in the form of a small golden rabbit, resting near the fire.
"You think they'll be here soon?" Preparing a pot for dinner, Ami looked down at Koneka, who was currently setting Ami's Digivice over to the side. She gave a sigh:
"If I know the guy, he'll come. I'm just not sure if he'll like it-"
"-Oh, come on, Gabe's cool!" Valeria grinned, a chuckle cast over the grim fire: "Once we're all on the same page, we'll bop these guys all in the head, no time flat!"
"We can all hope." Shaking her head, but with more of a confident smile than before, the three waited.
Oh, this was going to be an interesting evening...

"You're kidding right?"
"More texts to save the world? Really? Are we playing hero again so soon!" Gabe questioned playfully as he read the text message over Darian's shoulder.
Standing on the sidewalk of Cat Street reading his newest text, Darian was all but happy to see who the sender was. Koneka the Gatomon. The very same cat that had sent them careening into their last mess that involved Despair. Y'know, the one that almost ended Darian's life and got Gabe deleted. Yeah, that was a wonderful adventure.
Darian was tempted to delete the message and ignore it. It would've been as simple as that. She would never see that he read it, and he would never have to make his way into the danger that seemed to follow Koneka around like a lost puppy. Though, once again, Darian's caring side did have a deciding factor on his later decision. Koneka was also the one who had originally saved his life after his first fight with Despair. Without her, he'd just be a bloody mess in the ocean right now.
Did he owe her? With a sigh, he started to input the given coordinates into his D-Arc before deleting the message. Of course he owed her at least a visit.
"Aw yes, heading right into the mouth of danger, once again!" Gabe cheered with mock sarcasm, "Though, I wonder who A and V are. Koneka never says the damn names."
Stalking off to an alleyway, Darian immediately initiated the portal sequence, opening his Digital Gate to the exact location given by the coordinates. Darian hesitated slightly, he really didn't want to go through this portal. Was it really worth the mess that was inevitably going to come? With another sigh, he and his trusty partner entered the Digital World once again.
Reappearing on the other side, Darian almost immediately let out a loud curse. No, not because of the duct tape cross they were now standing on, nor because of the fire and gathering of people a few feet away from him. No, it was because of how suddenly god damn cold it had became in a matter of seconds.
"What the...son of a..GOD DAMMIT!" Darian uttered angrily as the cold immediately froze his skin.
Gabe simply chuckled as he was seemingly unaffected, even while in his holosuit.
"Well, I would say it's a bit brisk outside, eh?"
Darian simply sneered in his partner's direction before turning their heads towards the sound of a crackling fire and talking voices. Not seeing any imminent danger, recognizing Koneka and from the looks of it, he also spotted Ami. That most likely meant that the rabbit was probably Valeria. Hm, so that's who A and V were. Other tournament competitors who had previously been made targets. Strange that Koneka would need both groups of tamer and Digimon.
Darian practically sprinted towards the fire, placing his hands as close to the flame as he could without burning them. His teeth were chattering and all in the meantime he was glaring at Koneka. Gabe on the other hand walked up behind them all in a relaxed manner.
"Well if it isn't the rabbit with a grudge? How ya doin'?" he questioned cheerfully.
Darian on the other hand, through half chattering, half gritted teeth, questioned Koneka,
"To the point, what is it we're needed for?"

"Ah, there they are..."
It would be hard to miss them: after all, the other side of the portal wasn't exactly a silent display. With a flash of light, a briefly-disoriented pair of Tamer and disguised Digimon appeared before them. Smiling, Ami turned to greet Darian, but was cut off by the man's immediate swear!
"Um..." A bit worried about the whole thing falling apart, Ami gave a small smile and a half-hearted chuckle, while Valeria rolled out her back in a short bit of laughter. Oh, that was just priceless to see!
"Yeah, but it can grow on you. Just be glad that the wind's not blowing our way for now." Giving a friendly nod towards Gabe, and clearing a last chuckle out of her throat, the group took a brief moment to settle down. As Darian knelt next to the fire, Ami brought a blanket over, leaving it by Darian's side to warm by the fire.
"Sorry, its one of the few places we could think of that it would be safe to meet." She gave a smile, but stepped away back to her cooking a moment later. Despite the humor in the rest of the room, that glare towards Koneka spoke several more words than Ami would ever know, and quite honestly, she didn't want to unnecessarily fan the flames between them.
In contrast, off to the side, Valeria and Gabe seemed to be having a good time. A grin flashed back towards Gabe, the rabbit giving a shrug: "Just freezing my butt off with the rest of them, been stuck at my rookie form for a couple of days. Fur helps a lot out here, but its felt like ages since I've been able to spread my wings..."
Ah, well. Valeria seemed to be taking it in stride, anyway: "Honestly, I'm just hoping things get moving out here soon. What about yourself? Man.... we haven't met since that weird card-tournament, right? Tell me, what do you do to kill time besides knocking me around?"
Darian's question to Koneka, however, set quite a different mood. The human's piercing gaze met Koneka's eyes, which caused her to shift away slightly, a hand brought over her shoulder. She had made a mistake, and honestly, no-one had paid more for it than Darian: although she was shot at her own presentation, Darian and Gabe were put up on wanted posters everywhere... and, put in the middle of it all, were thrust into situations that were completely beyond her control.
"... Its the Devas."
Her words were dry and simple: there was no grand plan behind this, no curtain that needed to be dragged away from the world's eye. No, she was there at the outskirts of Whitewater: as a doctor, as a field medic, the absolute terror that was brought before her, and to be able to do nothing about it simply drove her to desperation. "I don't know how much you know about it, but these powerful Digimon have been assaulting major cities. Armies in the hundreds, massacring everything they come across with no prisoner. All I'm trying to do is... just, keep those informed, so we can organize something against them."
She gestured behind herself, to some articles that she had managed to acquire from Luminas about the subject. That, however, was the simple extent of her information.
"I'm sorry for calling like this again. And for what its worth... thank you." She seemed cautious in her word choice: "I don't know what you went through, but whatever happened with those Wisemon seemed to die down rather calmly. And from the look of things, you didn't get much to show for it at all."
That was an understatement. To this, Valeria looked at it from a distance, giving a sigh: "... So, Gabe... how do you feel about chili? Ami's gotten pretty good with the cooking..."

"Thank you" Darian mentioned to Ami before pulling the blanket up around his shoulders while still warming his hands on the fire.
He took the time out of his warming of himself to make a small comment towards Valeria,
"Warm up to the cold? As a Canadian, I can tell you that for me there's no warming up to this weather." he chided, a small chuckle escaping his lips through the chatter.
Gabe on the other hand, seemed to be enjoying his conversation with his old...enemy? Had they ever actually spoken on neutral terms? Nope, pretty sure they had only ever been enemies. Ah well. Folding his arms behind his head in a relaxed manner, Gabe laughed at Valeria's final question.
"Well you see, Darian and I like to spend our time nowadays escorting small children through the mystical wonders of receiving your first Digimon." He explained, remembering that both he and Darian had recently separately cared for a group of children that all seemed to be new to this whole "Tamer" thing, "It's really quite relaxing compared to the always almost dying reality of our lives."
Finishing his speech, Gabe turned his attention to whatever it was Koneka had been saying. Hearing the word "Deva" alerted him to its importance. Darian on the other hand was already quite attentive to the conversation.
"I'm just gonna take a guess here. The Deva's include that dog Caturamon? Yeah we've met at least one of them. They're strong enough to block out Digivolution. Took Gabe and I right out of Biomerge just by growling. And because of that advantage, Snowpoint is more or less leveled. Gabe and I were lucky to get out alive."
"That last sentence is more or less just our regular lives." Gabe stated with a laugh.
Later on at the mention of Wisemon and how their didn't really seem to be much reward for it at all, Darian finally gave Koneka a smile. A small one, seeing as how he was still sour that he was even present currently, but it should be enough to let her know she wasn't despised by him.
"The compensation for that is that I'm alive, you're alive, and the Digital World survived. I can take a few beatings if that's what I'm getting out of it." he stated before shuffling ever so closely to the fire.
Thankfully, before the level of serious reached critical mass, Valeria questioned Gabe about chili. Gabe's frown instantly turned upside down at the sound of food.
"Chili? Sounds perfect! If it's tasty, I'll eat it!"
Darian even piped up with a comment of his own, "Are we sure we should trust this chili? I mean, I'd like some. But Ami, can you actually cook?"

"Canadian?"
Valeria's expression was absolutely clueless as Darian gave his heritage, the rabbit giving a tilt of the head, wondering just what the heck he was talking about. Giving a small chuckle, Ami cleared it up for her:
"It means he's from Canada, like I'm from Japan. Its actually not far, a large country just off of the east. It gets cold out there... not this cold, though."
"Well... huh. Okay then!" Yes, Valeria didn't have quite a grip on human geography, but that was to be expected, right? Returning her attention back to Gabe, she listened as he explained their hobby: "Aw! That sounds cute... cute, relaxing, and stressful, actually." Valeria smirked: "Ami could have used that help: she kinda just had to piece it together as she went along." And boy, was that explosive rabbit quite a handful at times. It probably dragged them into a lot more fights than they would have wanted...
"Snowpoint too? Oh dear Sovereign." Koneka swore, paw flicking through Ami's Digivice, to look up what a 'Caturamon' was. Seeing the entry, she gave a nod: "Yeah, its part of the human Zodiac, and it sounds like something they were doing. However, my experience was in Whitewater. The snake attacked there... hold on, I'll show you." Flicking through a few buttons, the image of a 'Sandiramon' came onto Ami's upgraded device, which was passed over to Darian. "Thankfully, I was in the back side of the city when he started attacking the shore. I was treating trample victims on the Trailmon out of there. Suffice to say, after that, I didn't really have a place to go back to."
Well, now the situation was at least two times as bad as either of them realized. Still, she managed to return Darian's smile with her own, as well as a nod. She was truly appreciative of everything that they had done so far, and even more that he was willing to be dragged (or at least listen to what she had to say). "I'm glad to be out of the oven, yes. But this 'fire' we've found ourselves in definitely isn't comfortable."
Oh, thank god for food! Giving a smile back towards Gabe, Valeria gave Darian a stilted look as he questioned Ami's cooking. Thankfully, the girl took it in stride: "Let's just say its not my first time roughing it like this..."
Valeria nodded. "We train out here, actually. Um... as sad as I am to admit it, I didn't always have full control of my 'mega' form... so instead of risking it to turn loose anywhere where it matters, we got that whole mess settled out here!"
"Not to mention that Ami works at a bakery." Koneka joined in on this fun: "Now see, she can cook. My cooking is terrible."
"Only because you call opening field rations 'cooking'." Ami shook her head, and with a taste, brought the pot off of the fire. "On that note... dig in before it gets frigid."
"Bowls are down here, guys." Koneka referred to a basket behind her: this definitely wasn't the most refined eating establishment. But, they (or at least Koneka, Ami, and Valeria, and presumably the other two) would soon find themselves around the fire, a nice, hot chili at their fingertips. And, finally able to be part of this conversation in proper, Ami jumped in:
"... With the current Deva situation, wouldn't everyone be doing what they can already? I mean, I would have been surprised if Darian didn't know about it before you told him-"
"Same here. But without a plan against this... well, clearly organized attack, its just going to end up as a mess. I'm not here to tell everyone to charge forward... no, we need to be thinking of a plan, here." With a bite of the chili, Koneka gave a nod: "... Okay this is good..."
"... But its all the same if we get organized, right?" Valeria looked towards Gabe, and Darian: "I mean, just this room can bop heads! A few more and-"
"Too focused. That, and Caturamon doesn't sound like he would go down that way... hm..."
Valeria shook her head, looking towards Gabe: "Sorry that we had to drag you guys into this. Those two get kinda chatty..."

A small chuckle escaped Darian's lips at Valeria's lack of knowledge of what Canada was. Though she was right about the fact that it never got this cold back in the free north, but still, Darian hated anything and all cold. It was kind of ironic that his Digimon's first and main line was partially ice element. He froze people with his own least favourite element, perfect!
Gabe laughed at Valeria's remark about having to piece things together herself when she first started out as a tamer. Darian even smiled at the thought of being a beginning tamer again. He wouldn't ever forget the day he got sucked into the TV, attacked by the caretaker of Primary Village, and escaped through another TV with an egg in hands. Come to think of it, had he never grabbed that egg and just kept running, he'd never have dealt with all these problems over the years....annnnd never met Gabe, never had many friends, never experienced half of what he has, and never met Kanna....
Right...definitely worth picking the egg up!
"No worries towards an explosive start, ours was a bit rocky as well." Darian mentioned.
Darian's thoughts exploded in all different directions as Koneka explained the attack in Whitewater. He had only heard brief tidbits about it from passing Digimon in Terminus, as well as a few other mishaps, all probably from Devas. He had no clue that the damage was that severe though. From what he heard, Sandiramon couldn't be damaged easily, or at least the people fighting him couldn't do much. And in his case, Darian and the others fighting Caturamon couldn't even get close to him.
As he took another bite of the chili, Darian sighed. Just another no hope situation that was going to need to be solved. Hopefully there would be a bit more help globally this time. The perks of being a Super Mega, he guessed.
Gabe on the other hand, had contemplated Valeria's earlier comment about not having much control over her Mega form at one point. Usually a joker, he felt for her in a way that he recognized the problem. The whole reason their friend Perromon was dead right now was because of a malfunction in his Mega form. That type of stuff can get serious. Gabe was sincerely happy to hear that Valeria had sorted out her issue at some point.
"It's good to hear that you've got all of that cleared up. I wouldn't want to have to knock your head around a little bit to make you come to your senses." Gabe jibed, a smirk crawling across his lips after his remark.
Guess he could pull a joke off after all...
Time passed for a short moment as everyone get settled, started eating, and began to get to the point of why they were all sent here. Koneka's analyzation of the problem was on point as usual, and thankfully, the plan wasn't send Darian and Gabe in guns blazing. Valeria's suggestion of a brute force attack made Darian wince slightly, if the other Devas were anything like Caturamon, that wasn't going to work. Thankfully Ami made his point clear almost instantly.
"We're going to have to rally more than just us. And we're going to have a few more thinkers on the team. We'll need a plan that everyone can follow on a large scale. These guys don't go down easy, they can force your Digivolution down, and will delete you on sight after they're done screwing with you. They're nothing that even two Super Mega's and a cat can even deal with on their own." Darian said, explaining his view on the conversation while also sending a smirk in Koneka's direction at the jibe about simply being a "cat". He was pretty sure she wasn't a fan of that one.
Gabe on the other hand laughed at Valeria's comment.
"While it wasn't on our plans for today, I guess it's better that we get involved now and know what we're doing. Sounds like a better schedule than randomly getting involved and having no clue about anything. Trust me, we've done it before. It's not fun." Gabe explained to the rabbit before gulping down a large sum of chili.

"Oh really?" Gabe was a confident one, now, wasn't he? As he spoke of how he would've had to 'knock her around', Valeria couldn't help but give her own prideful smirk back. "My, our track record would say we'd knock each-other around quite a bit before anything would get settled."
"Is that right?" Ami cut in: "I seem to remember Gabe dead-lifting your ultimate form. I wouldn't be pushing your luck that hard, bunny." As the tamer chuckled, Valeria's eyes narrowed with a sigh: "Whose side are you on, anyway?"
"Just saying!"
With a moment of tense silence, both of them couldn't help but let out a lighthearted chuckle. They weren't in a mood to start up another brawl... not quite yet, anyway. Back near Darian, Koneka smirked: "I get jealous of you tamers sometimes. Seems like fun."
Well, Darian seemed to be on the same page as the rest of them. As he spoke, Koneka nodded along, agreeing with his overall points: they were dealing with a force that could hit multiple points of the world at once. Even without Caturamon's trick, a handful of powerful Digimon definitely wouldn't be enough to handle this. No, they would need an organized effort and an established resistance-
... What.
"... Well, I'm glad that being a 'cat' puts me on the same level as you guys." Taking it in stride, Koneka gave a sly smirk: "Actually, let me just steal one of your human jokes for a second here. Of the five of us here, I'm the only one here who knows how to heal anything... so don't screw with the White Mage."
"Oooh, nice one."
"... Nerd..." Valeria shook her head, to which Ami gave a chuckle.
"Also," Valeria went on: "Only for lack of trying, well, I've never actually hit 'Super Mega'. Koneka says its probable that we can do it now, but we haven't had a chance to test it... so, maybe we should do that soon?"
"Let's not drop that on everyone so quickly, Valeria. Maybe later, if Gabe and Darian would be willing to spot us, we can... but let's focus here for now. Actually, Valeria, go to champion."
"Huh?"
"Darian said that Caturamon can cut Digivolution, so I want you to get used to your champion form. Try to get comfortable with it at all times."
"Sheesh, fine." Closing her eyes, and with a flash of light, the champion-level fairy replaced the small, golden rabbit, the girl immediately wrapping her wings around her frame: "But its freezing without my fur!"
"Still, not a bad idea... what form is Gabe in right now, Darian? Might as well get everyone on the same page."
"Heh..."
Sheesh. After all this, had they even had a proper introduction? Turning to face Darian, Ami gave a smile: "Its weird: we've never even held a proper conversation and yet we're already on the same page. I know its redundant, but its just a bit weird without it... I'm Ami, a student from Japan. Its nice to meet you outside of an arena... even if its still not on ideal terms."
"... A bit late for that, isn't it?"
"I don't think so." Koneka shrugged. "At any rate, before anything, we should figure out our short term plan. This is a nice place to hide, but not to get information. Anyone have any ideas?"

Gabe let out a hearty laugh after Ami's comment about how in a previous tournament Gabe had managed to suplex Valeria's golem form, albeit with terrible difficulty. Darian as well managed to crack a smile, that fight was one of the more memorable ones of Darian's career. Though, he wasn't sure if he'd want to repeat losing like that and having to battle his way through a losers bracket.
Glancing over to Koneka, he smiled before questioning, "Ever thought of finding yourself a human? Maybe not being their Digimon, but..I dunno, protecting them? Can that even happen?" he questioned.
Darian was glad to hear Koneka take his comment in stride, jabbing right back with a comment about how she was the only one who could heal anybody, following it up with a White Mage comment. Both Darian and Gabe chuckled at the RPG reference, both of them being avid video game players. They laughed even harder at the comment from Ami and the jab from Valeria.
Valeria managed to bring the subject back to purpose though. Though the thought of Valeria not actually being able to hit Super Mega yet wasn’t comforting to Darian. Was this going to be a situation where only he and Gabe could hit the maximum level? Gabe crossed his disguised arms as he moved behind Darian, a serious look actually crossing his face as he thought up a way to get past the wall of further Digivolution.
”Spotting? Does this involve a fight? How ‘bout a sparring match? Force it with a few punches!” Gabe suggested with a smirk.
”Not everything is settled with a fight Gabe, yes we’ll gladly help with you two hitting Super Mega.”
Darian and Gabe watched as Valeria digivolved to her Champion form. Gabe could feel the power level around them raising as Valeria took on her new form, while Darian simply raised an eyebrow. Now that didn’t look much like a rabbit evolution at all.
”Well that’s interesting. Anyways,” Darian said, glancing back to Koneka to say, ”Gabe’s currently Rookie.”
”Who would want to stay at Champion all day anyways?” He questioned.
He twisted the miniature Gabumon horn around his neck as a flash of white light faded over him, deactivating his holosuit and returning him to his Gabumon form. A short second afterward and an explosive light erupted around his body. The light grew quickly and in a few seconds Garurumon was present.
”Is this an equal enough page for you Koneka?” he questioned with a slight growl in his voice.
Darian looked to Ami as she turned to him, he returned her smile with a small one of his own. Considerably, this really was the first time that he had ever really spoken to her properly. Other than tournament battles they had never really gotten acquainted.
”I guess you’re right, eh? I’m Darian! Born in Canada, master of bad situations, and the one that seems to always get called in to action for stuff like this. Nice to finally meet you.” Darian greeted with a slight chuckle.
Gabe nudged Valeria with his snout, laughing a low, guttural laugh before speaking,
”It’s never too late for greetings silly rabb-..uh…hmm I can’t call you a rabbit anymore.”
Looking back at Koneka, Darian attempted to answer her question,
”Well, we know Snowpoint was attacked. Maybe we should check that place out. And how about checking out the other places that were attacked when we find out about them? Do we know if anything’s happening now?”

Well... wasn't that a personal question? Hearing Darian, Koneka kept a soft smile, and gave a shrug: "I guess its just one of those things: if I end up with a tamer, I wouldn't mind it. As for finding a single human to 'protect', well, it would go against my morale as a doctor. All things held equal, you know?"
Sheesh, this wasn't an easy thing for her to think about. After giving her answer, the Gatomon's expression turned a bit more solemn, breaking eye contact with Darian. "Its just, as a nurse, you see a lot of interesting pairs. I guess its a little petty to think like that, especially with everything else going on..."
Well, at least the mood managed to lighten up between the group! After Koneka's joke, the group all shared a nice, hearty laugh. Even Valeria, who didn't share that line of humor, couldn't help but adding in her own chuckle!
Gabe, however, struck a chord with Valeria far quicker than anyone else in the cave, immediately suggesting a sparring match with her to try and usher out her super-mega. Though Darian tried to hold it back, Valeria couldn't help but respond: "I didn't know a 'few punches' from you meant a barrage of heat-seeking ice-missiles, but if that's what it takes, I'm game!" She gave a playful tap against the disguised Gabumon, causing Ami to shake her head.
"Thanks, Darian. Really, we'll just need someone able to keep us in line while we adjust."
A moment later, with Valeria's champion sitting next to Gabe, Valeria sneered at Darian's snide comment: "Would you rather I be a five-foot tall gopher-rabbit? The novelty of anything 'cute' wears off when it gets bigger than a person."
"Yeah... Valeria prefers being rookie or ultimate, actually."
"Which is why we need to get used to this form." Koneka looked over as Gabe digivolved and, on the sudden change, gave a small shudder. "Um... eheh... well, that is what we are looking for, anyway..."
"... What's up with her?" Ami questioned, Valeria giving a sigh:
"Cats and dogs, Ami. You forget, we've seen a lot of scary stuff, and we're just numb to the small things right now."
Well, that much was true. Ami and Koneka gave a glance at each-other, the former giving a small chuckle. "... Its not that funny..."
And, at last, Darian and Ami were able to properly introduce themselves. It still felt late and awkward, but with a nod, Ami reached a hand out for a shake: "Likewise."
"Sheesh, your nose is cold..." Valeria gave a small shiver, before hearing one more jab. Giving Gabe a pat back on his side, the fairy replied: "Gabe, right? 'Val' is fine... or you can stick with 'rabbit', I don't mind it that much."
Ah, finally, they were back on track! Hearing Darian's suggestion, Koneka gave a nod: "We don't know, per-se, but I've been taking my news from the Trailmon station. Its about the only thing that updates regularly. Plus, most attacks on the stations end up being irrelevant, since Trailmon can create new tracks every time they drive."
"Handy little thing, but very noisy to see." Valeria nodded.
"So, our contact with the outside world shouldn't be completely dried up. We can poke around Snowpoint for clues, but a lot of it should be mostly cleared out by now. From what I've surmised, most of the survivors were miners that weren't in the town or dug underground, or Snow-Digimon who hid out in the banks."
"Its a place to start," Ami agreed, "But, long-term... hm... well... this is going to sound silly," Ami chuckled, shaking her head, "But if all the major cities are being targeted like this, well, there's going to be a lot of similar cases, right? If we're going to organize forces, why not try and get something going out here? It'd be the last place they'd look, and if Trailmon can make tracks, certainly we'd be able to make these caves a lot more functional."
"So..." Valeria tilted her head: "Like a base? A refugee thing?"
"I guess?" Ami sighed: "I don't even know how to go about starting such a thing, but its just the first thing that came to mind..."

Darian was thankful for this situation if not just for the fact that he was able to finally get some insight on just who he was working with. Other than being a doctor who saved his life, and some sort of failed politician with a knack for getting shot at, Darian didn't know much about Koneka. The few things he learned were enough to raise his respect and trust for her.
Turning to Ami, Darian stated, "If you guys have already been training, Super Mega will be easy to control. Stay in sync with your partner and you'll have no problems."
A few more jabs at Gabe from Valeria after the two had Digivolved, and the two were still laughing together. It was good to see that they got along. Probably the first step to making a good ally. Koneka's catlike reaction to Gabe's digivolution was definitely amusing. It looked like you just couldn't avoid instincts at all times.
Now that introductions between tamer and tamer, and Digimon and Digimon were done, business could finally get under way. Gabe had taken to pacing around the room while he listened to the conversations underway, he'd speak up if he needed to but right now it seemed best to let the humans talk.
At Koneka's mention of returning to Snowpoint, Darian added in, "If anything, I'd like to search around to see if there's any new or more recent attacks going on. I figured since I have a controllable Biomerge, I might want to be front line for these kind of things. Just in case, y'know?"
"Ah, and here we have Darian. Hates being called in but naturally involves himself in the worst of situations. Don'tcha love it?"
"You prefer to fight than analyze anyways."
"True, I do like to put a good knocking on the enemy." Gabe stated with a growl.
Listening next to Ami's suggestion about creating some sort of refuge base for the survivors of all of these attacks. Well, the citizens of Snowpoint definitely needed a place to go. He wasn't sure how destroyed the rest of the world was, but if they just kept sending them to Terminus then the city itself would soon overflow. A refuge base sounded like a good idea.
"How would we advertise a refuge camp to the people who need it, when we need it to be secretive or else risk a Deva attack of its own?" Darian questioned.

Well, at least everyone was on the same page at this point. Hearing Darian's request for information, Koneka gave a nod: "Certainly; if I manage to learn anything important, you four will be the first to know. Even if our levels are restricted against some of them, it will be good to have a few strong hands on deck."
Valeria gave a chuckle to Gabe's comment, giving a soft pat to his back. "Well, we're the same on that. Why worry about overthinking it when a nice explosion usually clears it up?"
"You could stand to think a little more," Ami cut in, slightly chiding her partner. Her attention was soon brought back to Darian and Koneka, however, as the former one poked a little problem in her plan. "Well... I don't honestly know-"
"I'll help you with that. Even if its just dragging survivors, it will be something to look into. Word of mouth will go along nicely once its established a bit." Koneka nodded, causing Ami to tilt her head.
"Wait, you think that this will-"
"It will work just fine, Ami. At the very least, we're going to need a base of operations if we're going to organize a counterattack on these Devas."
"Well, then," Ami shrugged, "I guess I'll start working on figuring out how to pull that off."
"Yes... and I hate to interrupt again, but you two," Koneka nodded to Valeria and Ami, "We still need to get you up to snuff. I need to know just what you guys can pull off, so... I know its a bit sudden, but let's try and figure out your Super Mega before the sun sets over the mountains. If that's alright with you guys, Darian."
"Oh? So soon?" A bit excited at the prospect, Valeria stood up, butting her elbow into Gabe's ribs: "Don't hold back on us."
"... Oh, joy..."
Thankfully, the mountains around here weren't entirely frozen over. A little bit to the northwest, where the sun tended to face for a longer part of the day, the frozen mountains turned into a barren, dry, cool valley. The floor was wide and slightly uneven, populated mostly by rough, dry yellow stone, a more 'arid' scent to the air around here.
Tall, unforgiving mountains towered over both sides of this hidden ground, littered with unofficial and dangerous-looking hiking trails. Characteristic to the 'desolate' nature of the region, this spot of warmth was mostly dead, an almost haunting amount of silence surrounding it.
It was here that Ami would lead them: with the use of short-range portals and clever maneuvering, they would manage to find themselves in the valley: Ami, Koneka, and Valeria stood a fair distance away from Darian and Gabe, as they would be setting up for this spar.
"Well, pressure into the form is the easiest way to pull this off-"
"Don't need to tell me that." Closing her eyes, Valeria's body glowed a dark red: in a near-instant, her form was replaced with that of 'Adamon', the blood fairy, pushing her form as far as it would go. "And they should be starting full throttle... heh." Adamon grinned:
"Let's just hope they can push me that far!"
"Careful there, crazy. We don't even know what they can pull off. Its a friendly spar, but stay on your toes!"

Darian and Gabe both nodded as Koneka assured them that should any information come up, they would be one of the first to know. This was good, the two of them really weren't ones to follow a grapevine of any sort so being able to gather the information from the source was definitely an advantage. Koneka also seemed rather positive that her refuge plan would work, which eased Darian's mind a little. Should they be able to actually get all the refugees in one area, protecting them all would definitely be a lot easier.
The duo was definitely surprised to hear Koneka's next words though. What? She already wanted them to get a hold of Ami and Valeria's Super Mega state? Darian had assumed that this was going to be an ongoing thing but he guessed if they pushed them hard enough they could probably push them into it. Should that work, another Super Mega entering the fray would definitely be advantageous. Gabe on the other hand like Valeria perked up at the thought.
"Oh trust me, I won't hold back."
Darian stood from his seat, sending Ami a grin that didn't really match her "oh joy" comment. Moving over to Valeria he crossed his arms while mockingly sizing up his opponent,
"Well...if you don't want us to hold back, I guess all we can do is listen." Darian stated with a playful smirk.
A few minutes of portal transportation away and the combatants and their ward (Koneka) were seemingly in the middle of the mountains.Well, at least it wasn't as cold as it had been. And from the looks of it, there was way less snow.
"Perfect, we can fight in comfort." Darian stated as he jogged several feet away from Valeria and Ami to clear some space.
"Oh come on, I know you're always comfortable fighting." Gabe remarked with a smirk.
Darian replied with a smirk of his own, turning to face the now present Adamon. Raising his D-Arc, he could feel the power from it radiating through his body. Already, he could feel the connection between himself and Gabe. Staring decisively at his opponents he decided that he was going to push them. If reaching Super Mega was a necessity, then he was going to push for them to be able to earn it.
"Yeah...you're right!" Darian spoke as the energy from the D-Arc exploded around himself and Gabe.
A few short seconds and where the two originally stood, now stood the much taller, emerald furred, speed demon Merukimon. A wide smirk on the Super Mega's face as he unsheathed his dagger and held it at his side.
"Oh don't worry. We can push you that far."
From within Merukimon, Darian and Gabe were conversing in spirit, attempting to figure out what to do.
So to Biomerge, usually you have to be pretty close to the tamer, right?
So we can't split them up that much.
Basically, we've gotta limit the AOE moves.Got it?
Got it!
Merukimon flung his wrist forward, releasing his grip on the dagger Azteca. He tossed it lightly towards Adamon, it landing point first and plunging into the ground a few feet away from her. To most, this would seem like a strange move, disarming yourself in the beginning of the fight. Merukimon cracked his knuckles a few times before chuckling slightly. Should Adamon had been addled enough by the loss of Merukimon's own weapon, she most likely wouldn't see this coming.
In a quick step movement, Merukimon lunged forward, clearing the distance in about a half second. His fist was reared back, prepared to unleash the first attack of the sparring match. Swinging his fist forward towards Adamon's chest, should it hit, the first punch would feel like a thousand. Enough to cause pain to anyone not covered in a suitable amount of armour.
"Thousand Fist!"

"Well, isn't that something..."
It was the first time that Valeria and Ami had seen such a transformation firsthand, after all. As the tamer shielded her eyes slightly from the bright light, the two looked on in a bit of awe as the two figures became one. While this transformation would occur, Koneka wisely decided to distance herself a bit from the encounter. "Good luck, guys!" Several yards away, at the edge of the canyon, she would climb a rather sturdy rock formation, and observe from there.
As the start of the battle crept closer, Valeria muttered back to Ami: "I know this fight is about finding my final form... but if this is the last time that we're going to scrap against something stronger than us, let's give them the best fight we can put forward." As the light faded from Gabe and Darian's transformation, a familiar look entered Valeria's eye, a telling grin given that she was going to enjoy the coming battle.
"Of course." Ami wasted no time, immediately drawing her Digivice to scan and analyze this new form standing before them, just as Merukimon gave his last taunt. The pair was going to need as much information as possible to overcome the power deficit, especially against the Digimon touted as 'the god of speed'! A moment later, Merukimon made a move, throwing his blade forward towards the pair! Quickly, it wedged itself against the stone... just what was this-
Nothing in their data relates to that...
Right! "Valeria, look up!"
"Eh?" Wow, he was fast! Gritting her teeth, Valeria shifted her feet, letting her wings begin to unfurl as her left fist tensed up. She reduced the damage as much as she could: by surrendering her footing, the punch landed on her frame would end up feeling 'hollow' on the punishing end. After all, without solid footing, and by kicking up a bit into the air, it was less a solid blow, and more a forceful 'push' up off the ground.
Still, the damage was evident, a heavy pained expression in her eyes, a fierce grin soon following. Letting the first attack 'push' her back, Valeria didn't let the hit land for nothing. Forcing her closed fist forward, the palm opened, revealing a brilliant green gem:
"Explosive force!"
With a noise drowning out the name, the gem would expend its energy downward, directed right towards the Merukimon: in that instant, a fierce downward concussive force would erupt, to try and force Merukimon to crumble into the earth underneath them! Still, the damage was evident, the free hand grasping at her ribs:
One shot does that much? No chance letting it drag down... just going to have to pile everything on at once!
If they were that behind, after all, might as well just try and roll a saving throw!

Merukimon enjoyed the perplexed look on their faces as his blade touched the ground. The Digivice was a good scanner, yes, but battle tactics, there was no way it could tell that. From within, Darian could already see Ami's prowess as a tamer though. She had managed to catch on to Merukimon's diversion and even attempted to warn Valeria about the attack that was incoming. Too bad she was too late to fully avoid this.
Despite her movements, Darian could feel the damage done as the recoil from the hit flowed through his fist. Thousand Fist was probably his least damaging move to be honest, but when you're not expecting it, a level lower, and not really wearing any armour, it would probably be quite painful. Though, after the attack connected, Merukimon noticed the grin on Valeria's face. So she had a counterattack planned, hm..smart.
Merukimon's eyes widened as Valeria opened her palm revealing one of her notorious gems. Remembering from his fight with her Ultimate form, he knew that those gems had quite a lot of power stored within. He braced himself as the sound of the attack signified its beginning. Merukimon felt his knees jolt as they were forced to bear an incredible force pushing him down. The ground beneath him crumbled as he was pushed further into the ground. He winced as pain exploded around his torso and legs, his face protected by raised arms.
Hmm, think quickly. He wasn't going to give Valeria a chance to catch her breath. Leaping out of the newly created small crater, Merukimon flipped away to clear some distance. While in the air, he held out his hand, creating four copies of his Azteca dagger that floated around him. With a wave of his hand, he sent all four clones flying towards Valeria at high speeds. In the meantime, he himself landed beside the real Azteca, still implanted in the ground. He picked it up, gripping the hilt tightly as he watched the outcome of his last attack, preparing for Valeria's next counter attack.
