Ryouta asked her about the appeareance of the Yuuki that was currently testing them. She remembered it vaguely, mostly because she was concentrated in the giant purple dragon that was stealing poor Foxy-san. "Well, I haven't seen him closely, but he had a burn scar on the left side of his face, with her eye faded and everything. He gave this aura of sadness, but his digimon's murderous intent was very clear, oh... and his right arm was mechanical. Sorry I couldn't see anything else, Ryo-kun, but everything just happened so fast...".
Still, as they kept walking. Ryouta began to describe how his world's Yuuki looked like. Maybe they were the same, as both had a prosthetic in his right arm, but he hadn't mentioned anything about his face, so maybe they were different. Who knows. "You were betrayed? That's so sad. Everyone got out fine out of that, right? I'm pretty sure that if Ayaka could reach mega or higher, she'd heal any injured person or digimon in no time, and also... Everyone is fine in your world, right? I mean, Haru-chan, Karin-nee and Yuu-niisan are all okay? Because you haven't talked about them yet. Also... did Haru-chan and Yuu-niisan get together in the end? I'd be so happy if she were to be my onee-san! And also... does Ayaka's mega look cute? How I am when we biomerge? I want the details!".
They continued to walk, until they reached a medium-sized traditional Japanese house. "Well, this is the place" she finally said, signaling the entrance "Do we enter? Or what?".

"Mmmm... not mine," he commented. "Mine doesn't have such bad scar on his face like that... If anything, he's much better than me in term of how many scars on his body... although I avoid to say any of those to him because... losing an arm and a leg isn't something small. It's fine if you doesn't see much because just from that, I can tell that he's not my world's Yuuki. As much I like to avoid a fight between me and him... somehow I wished it's mine, because that way, I can finish the trial quicker..."
When she asked if everything is fine, he goes silent.
"...It's not a happy story, do you still want to hear?" he asked, waiting for her answer.
If she answered yes, Ryouta would immediately sigh and scratched the back of his head.
"...Unlike this world, we can biomerge no matter what our Digimon's level is... I only saw Ayaka up to her Ultimate form, so I have no idea... Yuu... well... you're separated from him since the war incident... on the escape pod you're ended up with... not with him... I believe he's still alive, but... Koharu... in my world, she's no more... She sacrificed herself to buy us time to run away with you. She... she really loves you, you know? Like a big sister would... I think, she's very sad about her sister's death... she failed to protect her, and she did all that sacrifice to help us run away, taking down one of the enemy's general for us... Sorry, even though I'm something like a veteran soldier, looks like I still can't talk death so casually... especially not about my friends'."
If she answered no, Ryouta would simply nod and told her "Glad you think so, too."
When they finally arrived on Mana's house, he looked ahead, whistling.
"...Well, if we came here under better circumstances, I'd really happy and think you'll introduce me to some of your family... jokes aside... tell me... At this time, judging from the time, what's your parents doing usually? Or someone in your house for that matter."

So, this Yuuki wasn't Ryouta's alternate world's Yuuki. She could only guess how many worlds were out there. And yet, when she asked about the current whereabouts of her friends in his world, she felt petrified. Yuu away and Koharu dead? She already began to feel the tears stinging her eyes. Even if those two bits of information had pained her deeply, that wasn't what concerned her the most. In reality, what had made her feel totally and completely useless had been one word; Ultimate.
"So... only Ultimate?" she said mustering all her strength to not to get too sad, but failing miserably at doing so "That means that I was the burden, wasn't I? I can't believe that I couldn't even reach mega to help you guys, even when you all could get into it. I'm sure that if could have done it... Haru-chan wouldn't have...".
She was crying again, but this time, it wasn't because she was sad, it was because she was frustrated. So that's why Ryouta had protected her during the trial. Maybe that was her fate? To just be protected and not to be of any real usefulness? After all, Ryouta was here to help her, when she was sure that Ayaka and Tatsuya were on their own. She hated this; she hated this with all her being, yet... what other chance did she have? Even if she wanted to help, in the end... she was the one being helped all the time.
She felt coldness flowing in her expression as they neared her house, and when Ryouta asked the question, she answered with a razor-ice tone. It wasn't intended for him, but she just felt so bad about herself that she couldn't find another way to speak. "Obaa-chan is almost always home. Parents should be working until really late".
Having said that, she opened the door and moved forward. Curse this trial and curse her uselessness.

"No-- Mana, look, to biomerge, high amount of power is needed! It's not that you're useless! Please, don't... don't think it like that... Koharu going to slap you if you think it like that! Plus, I really... really have no idea because your permanent teammate is Karin, not me... So please, don't think it like that... Although... if you still insist to think about it like that, then all you have to do is to get even stronger than now..."
He hugged her in front of her house, trying his best to console her. He's so used to how she speak afterall, to know her mood.
"...Please, Mana... don't think that you're useless... see all these scars? That you healed most of it... We only got some healers, and you're the only one who's full healer... So more than just once, you saved us... all of us. Don't be so down about it... Koharu would be so mad if you blamed yourself for all of this... Look, let's just focus to what ahead, alright? Let's... just try our best to not let that happened again to your realty."
And so, he looked ahead and whispered to her.
"...Can you try calling your Obaa-san? That way it's a bit easier, right? I mean, what would she say about you bringing someone unknown? Also, I cannot let you go in alone, no matter what... I mean, it might be your house, but..."

Ryouta's word mostly fell on deaf ears, except one that really burned her soul as if it were a branding iron. Stronger than now. She had to get stronger than now, and she WILL get stronger than now. Still, she couldn't but feel ashamed of what she had done in Ryouta's world. She had been... "High amount of power, huh..." she trailed off, not really saying the rest of the sentence. And that's why I failed so badly at it that I'm in vegetative state, depending on Ayaka for sustenance; she knew that those words would hurt Ryouta as much as her, and she didn't want to do that. So much solace for that.
Still, she somewhat calmed down after the boy hugged her, she didn't know why, but the boy's arms had a calming effect on her mind. Regrettably, she felt his words as a blunder; they didn't help at all, but his arms were comforting her little by little. "Yeah, let's focus on the task at hand" she said, choosing not to address what the boy had said. She didn't know if he had good intentions or not, but the bit of 'let's try our best for that to happen again' make her temper flare. "I'm tired of being weak, Ryo-kun. The only thing that makes me worthwhile are Ayaka's talents, not mine, for I couldn't even muster enough power to go past ultimate. What if I had just a normal digimon, just like you or the rest? You don't have to say nothing anymore; as it's pretty clear" If it weren't for Koharu, I'd be dead, and if it weren't for Ayaka, I'd be useless and dead.
She tried hard to recompose her voice as she entered the house. "I'm home, Obaa-chan!" she called from the entrance as she set her shoes in there, as customary "I brought a cousin that just arrived here!"

Crap, so much for thinking that she'll let go of that complex of her... Ryouta sighed, but regardless, he understood how she really blamed herself... even his world Mana would obviously blame herself for what happened to Koharu. How great... perfect, just perfect. Still, to not worsen the mood, he does not say anything to her. When she called out to her Obaa-san, Ryouta raised his eyebrow.
"Errr... a moment, Mana... doesn't your grandmother know that I'm not your cousin or anything? I mean, if you tell obvious lie like that, won't we got busted right away?" he whispered, unsure of her approach. "Of course I'm not saying that it'd be bad in real world, but in here... well, in here, it could put our progress in jeopardy..."
Yet somehow, there's no answer.
"...Odd... Is she supposed to be asleep at this time? Or something like that?"

As Mana called that she was in her home Ryouta made a rather good question... that didn't apply to the current situation, of course "Well, Ryo-kun. My family is unusually big. You see, in this kind of places people usually have a lot of children, and in my very case it'd have been the same if my pregnancy wasn't one of high risk and the doctors said that they had to make her a tubal ligation or her next pregnancy would most likely be fatal. If you ask, Ottou-san had three brothers and three sisters, and Okaa-san five brothers and two sisters, so... I don't even know my whole family. Maybe you can be my second cousing from my father's side and she wouldn't have a reasonable reason to doubt. After all, why she would doubt me? I'm her favorite granddaughter".
Yet, even during her lecture, no word was uttered in response to her. "Um, weird" she said, genuinely puzzled at the situation "She usually stays up until after lunch. She's a really early riser and a late sleeper, even when she's quite old. Wonder if something is actually happening in here".
Having said that, she ventured into the insides of her house, searching for anything weird that could be there.

"That would be so awkward if we're really cousins and we have no idea 'bout that..." Ryouta commented, crossing his arms, but ultimately grinned happily. "Would be nifty, though, right? That way probably you could call me 'Onii-chan' without the wrong context and you're still my girlfriend even after all of that... Who knows? My grandmother did said she came from somewhere far, but she doesn't really get into details because her memory is hazy."
Then, when she commented that it's strange... well, it's strange to him, but this is trial, so... this might be far worse than what they thought it'll be. Ryouta followed her from behind, making sure that she won't walk right into any Yuuki's trap. And that... when they found Mana's grandmother, frozen like statue in drinking posture. The cup also frozen, along with the liquid in the living room. Ryouta winced. Honestly this is not something he expected.
He carefully walked to the old woman, and patted her gently.
"...Even her body is as hard as stone... What the heck...?"
To free those who's sleeping, you have to find a difference... spot a difference, spot a strange thing in the surrounding area... spot the difference in the current place... This is your trial, the [Village of Oni]... Be careful of a lurking [Oni]... should the [Oni] capture you, then you'll be forced to repeat your greatest trauma before being sent to point zero again... the voice suddenly rang on her head.
"...What the heck...? Oni?"

At the mere idea of them being distant relatives, Mana became curious... but ultimately that was some really interesting off-topic to discuss... later. "I can call you nii-san if that makes you feel better. We're quite that, after all" she said as they began scanning the house. She felt into a metter mood, but the lingering sadness still was in her mind. As they entered the living room, there her grandmother was, but she was... frozen, alongisde the cub and all the liquid in the place. Mana covered her mouth with her hands, utterly horrorized at the image. She watched how Ryouta came near her and... she was solid. Solid as a stone.
Not a second after, the ominous yuuki voice resonated in her head. Apparently, there was a difference... somethin gstrange in this area. I had to make out something different, and that would be her trial... but it had a catch; apparently, an Oni of sorts was lurking this place and it'd make her relive her kidnap if it caught her.
"So... differences?" she began thinking "As of now, the only differences from my memory are that Obaa-chan is frozen... and you, Ryo-kun; but I guess that that way it'd be too easy so... let's keep searching".
And so, she began to search the house. A difference... she could only wonder what Yuuki meant with that.

"Heh, no, not really. I prefer Ryo-kun... or maybe something like anata, because that's just how your other self addressed me back home... Well, that's not that important for now... Plus, maybe we're really related? Who knows? Idle chatter can wait... and you can ask your world's me. Maybe he'll answer much better than me... we're pacing against time, either way..."
And back to the frozen lady... Ryouta tried to look around for anything that could lead to some clue.
"...Emmm.... first... remember... what's not usual here? Do you think there's anything that is not on the right place? Of course it'll be hard, but... first, does this room looks... noticeably different for you? I think let's just start with the room first... but if you said there's nothing different then..."
He start to think again. "...Is this bag supposed to be here?" he asked, pointing at a randoseru on the corner of the room, seem abandoned. "...Is this yours?" he asked, reading the name tag.

To Ryouta saying that he really prefered Ryo-kun, she just nodded. She figured that if they went out, at least she would mention the nickname in which she addressed him and it'd depend on him if he accepted it or not, but at the mere mention of anata, color immediately flushed to her face; even if it was logical for a married couple to call each other that term, Mana just couldn't but think about her other self uttering those words made her feel embarassed; if she was honest with herself, in the period of time she currently was, she would have actually called that a person she liked as her boyfriend anata, but... that was a topic for another time.
Before she changed rooms, the boy pointed to a bag in a corner of the room. The color was kinda faded, and she couldn't see it clearly, but it certainly did look like the backpack she used to go to school, yet... "It's weird, really. I can't see the color clearly, it is pink? Because otherwise I doubt it, but also... I kinda always had my school stuff as tidy as I could, so that's really weird. Be careful if you're about to open it. Who knows what could be inside of that thing".

Ryouta raised an eyebrow at her... Is it pink? But in his eyes, it's obviously pink. It's certainly pink, and always will be pink... even the name tag says her name... But what's happening here? Does... does this mean they have a certain difference in view over here? Now to think of it... it's odd... discrepancy in images. If this world is made of their memory, but there's a difference in the viewer? But he never gone to this place before... he just seen it through images, unless...
"...Say, has one of your cousin ever came here?"
He's implying that... he's ever here, one day... maybe on the same day, who know... maybe he was too focused on his happiness and forgot this exact memory, but... if that's the truth, then... this world is made of both of their memories? but that doesn't makes sense, does it? He shook his head... No, it's too hasty to jump into conclusion, but.... he have to ask her what does she saw in this room.
"...Alright, um... let's just do this to make it easier... so, why don't we describe the room in our version?"
He pointed at the bag first.
"Bag there, pink, yours, with your name."
He pointed at the four pillows for sitting. "There are four pillows encircling the table... there's senbe on the table... The clock on that side of the near-ceiling shows exactly 5:34, unmoving. There's a trashcan on the corner, nearest to your obaa-chan... Umm.... what else... nothing much really... What about you?"

Mana looked at Ryouta with a puzzled expression at his raised eyebrow. For her, she couldn't quite identify that backpack colors, and the more that she tried to see it, the more that it seemed to blur, but then his question made his way through her.
"One of my cousins? Of course hey have!" she quickly affirmed "At least until, Obaa-chan passed away, family always came here to visit her and to check if she was okay. She was really a beloved family member. After that... not so much, but still every now and then, specially at the anniversary of her death. Why do you ask?... oh".
Ryouta, in here? Was he implying that they were related someway? That... was a possibility. A crazy possibility, but her family was just too big, and she hadn't meet her most distant cousins in her life... or so she had thought.
"Let me see... my version? We entered through the entrance hall all the way up here. Now we're on the dinning room. As in your version, there are four pillows, two at each side of the table. Theres a sideboard in one of the corners with a television on it and a couch on the adjacent corner and the two of them are separated by the sliding doors that lead to the balcony" she made a pause "Yeah, the clock is there, and the trashcan is just next to the fridge, in the kitchen. About the bag... I can't quite tell its color, and I don't know why. Why don't you hand in here, so I can see the name tag?".

So that means something is off on his part... the trashcan is not supposed to be there in his version... also, the pillows are different... His are one on each side of the tables, not two on two sides of the table... Seeing where the grandma sit, then the probability is it's two on her side, and two on the other side. Ryouta nodded at Mana's description and handed her bag to her.
"...OK, so the pillows here..."
To Mana, it would as seem as Ryouta grabbing nothing (although very realistically). He put the pillow on the place where he assumed to be the right position... Which turned out to be. The pillow suddenly lit up for a split second. Looks like they got the gimmick. Ryouta repeated the same action to the other pillow and the trashcan, but... it doesn't seem that it's enough. Mana's Obaa-chan still out of it.
"...Odd..."
He pat the old woman again. "...Mmm, she's warming up, but... I felt like we're still missing something... What about that bag?" he asked.

Okay, so this was some kind of puzzle? It seemed that there were differences between what Ryouta was currently seeing and what was she seeing. Apparently, Ryouta grabbed something that was the pillow he saw in his vision, returning it to the position where it had been before, it lit up for a fraction of a second. So they had to accomodate everything until both memories were just the same? It didn't look to be too hard.
She looked at the bag in her hands. The nametag was definitely inscribed with her name, so it should be... hers? Why she had this blurry visions about it, though? "Well, I don't remember a backpack anywhere that day so its place should be... on my back?" she asked somewhat confused, but it had some amount of logic; maybe that was the final piece of the puzzle to finally return her grandmother to her natural state.
And so, she hung the bag in her back, just as she did that in her school days. She could only hope that that would be enough to make an advance. "So, Ryo-kun, how's obaa-chan now?" she asked "Any changes since I have this on my back?".
