Mana sighed at the second of Ryouta's apologies. Dang, she didn't know that the boy could take something that seriously. She just waved her hand, as if dismissing the boy's concern. "Ryo-kun, it's fine. Really!" she finally said, not believing that the roles had inverted "Don't feel guilty about a petty attitude of mine just let's get going".
Yet, at his offer of them going together, she could only nod; he became actually frantic about losing her yet one more time, and even if that fact brought sadness to her heart, she could emphathize with the boy's feelings. She would have said the exact same thing (or at least words with the exact general purpose) if the same thing had happened to her. With a final reassuring smile, at least at him agreeing to go to her house. Gathering valor, she decided to speak again
"You know, now that I remember, in the real thing, nii-san was the one who got me out of that situation; maybe we have to find him to help us? That'd maybe work, but let's buy the beans just in case".
She held his hand on a reassuring fashion as she remembered all the things she had done to get over this situation. Inhaling, she went to inside the supermarket, or at least she went if Ryouta was willing to move and what she saw just petrified her on the spot. She grew alarmed, distressed, terrified and so many other emotions, but ultimately gulped them down. She had to be brave; she had to be brave for Yuuki.
"He's here, Ryo-kun. Now I'm the one that's seeing him" she just said "He's frozen solid. So let's just get this over with".
Even if her words were calm, the hand that was gripping Ryouta's was trembling like a dying leaf. It was obvious that she was deathly afraid, but she wouldn't forgive herself if something happened to Yuuki because of her fault.

Understandable if she decides to think he's overreacting, but for Ryouta, it's equal to angering his wife... and that the fact that he honestly really hate for rather depressive reason. He nodded when she waved it off, but deep inside, he's still a bit guilty. He doesn't want to be separated from this Mana, even though he's not his Mana. He's not willing to go through that trauma again. He promised to protect her... and it's reassuring when she agreed to go with him inside. He smiled and lead her to the shop, still...
Continuing from where the last post said, Ryouta looks confused, but grows really concerned when Mana suddenly petrified. Only then he got it that their world somehow has gone switched. Ryouta gulped, wondering if it's OK to stay right here... Mana's words and her shaking doesn't help it either. The boy gave it a firm squeeze. It won't hurt her because he knows how much force he have to exert... he's merely trying to tell her that he's here. He pat her head and stroke her cheek.
"...Go outside. He's not in my vision, so it should be fine... just do it carefully so the shopkeeper won't be suspicious... go!" he whispered to her.
If she goes, he would go to the vegetable section to look for the beans

Even if Ryouta calmed her somewhat and told her to go away, she remained still in her place. Giving a good look at her would-be kidnapper, she denied with her head. "He can't hurt me, Ryo-kun. It's fine" she said, steadying her hand's grip "We'll go through this together; I won't be weak this time. I just can't be weak this time, so just... let me accompany you".
Even if he insisted on him going away, she'd insist too, only to be pushed away if Ryouta literally carried her out of the place. She was bound and determined to get over her fear. Yuuki counted on her, and she just couldn't dissapoint him. Otherwise, she'd just walk alongside him, guiding him towards the vegetable section quite fast, and hopefully finding the beans in here.
In whatever case, she'd just take a deep breath and tried to relax, having success to some degree. "Something here is fishy. You see him from the outside and I do from the inside, so there must be a link that connects our two vision worlds. Something in common that we should find as fast as we can. Maybe that way we'll find some clues about how to solve this puzzle".

Looks like she's not willing to follow his instruction. Ryouta know how bad Mana is when she's already determined, so the boy simply sighed and nodded. A weak smile etched on his face as he stroke her head lovingly, muttering something like 'stubborn cat'. Still, she guided him to the vegetable section. The boy took some of the soy beans and put it on a plastic bag before measuring it.
"...You're right... OK, let's discuss this when we're back to your home... Can you prepare an excuse for your grandma? I don't think she'll be that happy to see you absent from schoo---"
But then, he noticed that the cashier has stopped working. He's frozen in time. Right on the same time, in Mana's side, the man starting to stir. The clock near the cashier on Ryouta's side stopped to tick, while on Mana's side... it's ticking. However, Ryouta was quick enough to see a mirror and notices that the man is now moving.
Quickly, the black haired boy carried the younger version of his girlfriend in princess carry and dashed out of the supermarket, avoiding the man.
"THAT, I don't want to through that again!"

Happy that Ryouta comprenhended her posture, Mana gave him a small smile; she was still afraid, but she had to be courageous this time; she'd beat this trial, as she was sure that both Ayaka and Tatsuya were giving their all, and she wouldn't dissapoint them. The affective gestures of the boy calmed her a little, and now she was sure that she'd get over this; it was only a simple trip to the market, right? Yet... "Cat? Why cat?" she said, oblivious of the fact that the playful nature she displayed with boy make her resemble one.
And so, she guided him towards the vegetable section, and they measured a good amount of them before finally going to where the cashier was again. Ryouta seemed to be somewhat worried about the fact that she'd 'miss school', and how her grandmother would react to that fact when she returned home, but as she was about to say that she'd already made up an excuse, she saw how HIM began to move on a very slowly fashion. Before she could say anything, the boy had scooped her, and now was carried bridal style out of the supermarket; seemingly, they had avoided the man. "Th-thank you" she muttered when they were far enough, relieved "So, we're going home again? I-I've already have an excuse. If my memory isn't faulty, around this time there was a varicella outbreak in my school, so I can say that they sent me home to prevent it from spreading. Obaa-chan will believe it wether it's true or not, as I don't ever lie to her".

"Oh believe it or not, you're always like a cat around me... well, the other you. She's so playful like a cat that I generally would spend time on the bed at weekend when there's no mission... well, a really rare weekend even though I'm not sure it's weekend or not, but... both of us joked that it is weekend. We had enough of bad days and honestly, we can use breaks now and then... and so we forbid talking about mission right there and instead just cuddle to one another, reading fairy tale... OK, laugh if you want to laugh, but that's just how it is if our lips is not together or that our body isn't practically very close to one another."
Yeah, that was the talk about when Mana asked about why she's a cat before the time slip happened. Currently, the two far relatives walking down the road to Mana's house. She's not sure what he's supposed to say about that outbreak, but... in all, he's a bit grateful that Mana doesn't have to go to school... still, he wondered how would the time pass in the real world? He doesn't want to lose Yuuki either, just like Mana...
"...I saw him moving on the mirror... maybe... maybe mirrors and windows are sort of object that we can use to see each other's vision. So maybe a glasses would work, but... the matter is, what if the Oni suddenly appeared in front of us? Also... where's Yuu in this time?"

At Ryouta's explanation at why he had called her cat, she smiled, not finding it ridiculous, but actually... "I don't love cats as much as Karin-nee, but if you say so, I think it's so romantic! Maybe I'll do that with Ryo-kun!... if we ever start to go out, that's it" currently, to say that Mana's love life was complicated was an understatement. She hadn't seen Charles since what had happened in Hachiko Square, and she if she repeated herself that it hadn't been his fault a thousand times, every time that she imagined that his spirits had used his body to commit nothing more and nothing less than murder and thus, making himself an indirect murderer made her feel uneasy, but specially, made her feel that maybe she wasn't special at all; maybe she was useless at keeping his spirits at bay, even if she had loved him unconditionally until then, or not so much, actualy... maybe she had been a bad girlfriend by complaining about their relationship problems? Honestly, she'd never know, but if she wasn't able to do such a simple thing, she could only guess that the relationship would deteriorate with time anyway. It was almost as if that was destined for failure.
"By the way, Ryo-kun... in your world, there's a guy called Charles Ashmore?" she asked as she snapped out of her inner world. Maybe knowing something more about her boyfriend would tell her how he'd behave in the future "A really tall guy that should be at least two meters tall at fifteen, with not many other distinguisable features, at least in this world".
He then mentioned something about seeing him in the mirror, and the fact that maybe that was the window to the other's world. And finally, after she had actually thought that he had purposely let the matter drop, asked about Yuu's whereabouts. "Well, either in or in his way back home after the school announced that the activities would cease today to prevent the outbreak from further spreading. That's my wild guess. Wanna go there? I can point you to the school's general if you want to".

"Your current boyfriend?" he asked back, sounds a bit unsure of how to respond with that. "...No, don't remember any guy with name like that... But then again, I wonder if your relationship is good enough? I mean... you sounds like you're still... fixed on the other me. Not that it's bad... in fact, if I can be blatantly blunt with you, I hope even you and that other me can end together as well, but... well, that's matter for another time. I best don't affect your judgement in this. You're your own girl."
On the offer of going to the school, he shook his head. "Let's not get hasty and just roast the beans first before we go to the school. Hopefully, we're going to have it easy in this trial, but looking at how complex stuffs is, I think that it'll be a hard one, even after this... Also, uh... did the Yuuki told you what to do exactly in this trial? I don't believe he would do something like obscuring the goal."

Ryouta's tongue had been sharp, as the boy had just hit the bullseye with the question 'I wonder if your relationship is good enough'. "I-I don't know that either, to be honest" she said, a little sad "I've tried to talk to him since the last time we saw each other, but it's just as he had dissapeared from the face of the Earth, and the last thing I remember about him... wasn't pretty, Ryo-kun; I'll just say that it's kinda confusing to have feelings for two guys at once, specially when you find out that the one who 'only saw you as his little sister' didn't really do that. But I won't bother you with those things, let's just keep going".
At him saying that it was better to not to go to school yet, she nodded; maybe they'd just find Yuu in their way back home, but at his question... She placed her index in her chin, thinking about what the hooded Yuuki had said before the trial, excepting his first words, she didn't remember very much about it "Well, to be totally honest, I remember a bridge and a hooded Yuuki telling us that the first trial of doubt would be choosing a path through the bridge, with one leading to [The Oni Village] and the other leading to God knows where, but, when we picked it, we all got separated, the guy said something to Ankh-san and Notfoxysan-san about taking damage in their stead and he made them chose either to 'leave' or to 'stay', but I don't remember anything else about what this thing is supposed to be. Also, now that I think about it, if there's a varicella outbreak in the school, maybe not all the teachers will be in there? Maybe that's why we found the guy at the supermarket".

"To be honest, I doubt that he'll keep seeing you as a little sister. Sooner or later, he'll fall for you. Why am I giving you hope like this? Well, simple really... Because that's just how I feel. Look, I'm not entirely him, but there are parts of him that connected to me. For example, I know one thing that he's starting to look at you in different way since your confession... He fears of certain something... you heard of Natsu, right? He fears that he might will treat you like Natsu. That's why he stayed silent... until at least he can think of you in a way that you're not an expy of his former crush. As for me? Well... I'm already in love with your other self since long."
He listened attentively to her explanation, thinking deeply of what to do. He sighed and stroke her head. "Yeah, most likely it's like that, but still, without concrete goal, we cannot do anything... did anyone said anything else? Or maybe in his story about Oni Village? Then again, tell me, how much you know about Oni?" he asked.
However, apparently they're already in front of Mana's house. Ryouta nodded at her before opening the door.
"Obaa-san, I'm sorry to be intruding!"
"Oh, welcome back!"

Mana sighed at the mention of Natsuki's name. Yeah, she knew that she'd never hope to fill the hole she had left, but even then, she didn't want to. She was her own person, and if she came to ever be Ryouta's girlfriend, she'd love him as Mana, not as some expy of his former's crush. She didn't intend to offend Natsuki's memory, but she was an entirely different person, and she had no bussines trying to imitate her just to gain her own crush's favor. She'd almost prefer if he didn't notice her altogether. "Hopefully, Ryo-kun. Hopefully" she limited herself to say. That was a matter for another time, and reviving it constantly was starting to bother her, even if she was the one doing it. Better if she stopped now.
She felt good when he stroked her head, but began to think about his words about what did she know about the Oni or the Village. "Uh, well... According to hood-Yuuki, The Oni Village is full of curses, diseases and poverty because an Oni inhabits it. He also said that if we ended up there, there were two possible outcomes. Either we killed the Oni or the other way around. In any case, he said that we'd free the village from his clutch. I don't think that there was very much to it, honestly".
And so, they entered the house again. "I'm home too, Obaa-chan! You won't believe what happened in school!".

Ryouta scratched his head as he heard Mana's explanation. So basically, they're trapped here until they know who's the Oni in this world? Now that's super hard, and it's harder that it's seem that if they're 'killed' by the Oni, they'll need to go to go back to the starting point.
"Hmmm, OK, let me explain... See, there are lot of oni, but there's generally two types. Assuming that the Oni here is only one, and it made great misery in this memory, then it's undoubtedly the bad one. Oni is famous as maneater, having huge appetite... almost unquenchable. Some myth said the more they ate human, the stronger they became. There are a lot of onis, though... the big one might be maneater, but the smaller one could be just a prankster. Speaking of Onis, both tale of Momotaro and Kintaro depicts them killing Oni as their mission. By the way, if you got other questions, let's talk about them in your room or something."
And so, they returned back to the house.
"Oh, welcome back, Mana. Did something happened at school?" the old woman asked.
"There's apparently some varicella outbreak or something... So the school is cancelled for today," Ryouta explained.
"Oh my... that's terrible..."
"Obaa-san, it might be a bit too much to ask, but can I borrow your stove to roast some beans?"
"Hm? Oh, of course you may! Just be careful, alright? But I'm sure that Ryo-bou would be alright... Speaking of which, Mana, did you passed Yuu on the way to school? It's seem one of his schoolmate is looking for him just now."

Apparently, this Oni stuff was just too complicated for Mana to understand, but because of the sound of it, they sounded as if they were some kind of... demon? And he was the responsible of doing all the nasty stuff to boot. This was bad; really and freakingly bad.
Back in the house, Mana's grandmother asked to her about what happened at school, but before she could answer, Ryouta was already at it, so she only nodded in response. Truth to be told, if treated rapidly, a varicella outbreak wasn't that bad (at least for her), but she didn't know much about the disease, so she just remained silent.
While Ryouta asked if he could use the stove to roast the beans, she asked again, but this time, about Yuu. Truth to be told... this was weird. Really weird. "No, Obaa-san. I haven't seen him. And a schoolmate? He gave you his name or something?".
That was really weird, as she didn't remember the Yuu of her time as an extremely social person, and as that time's him, he just was too grumpy after school to be actually searched by anyone. Who could this friend be? She just didn't want more... unpleasant surprises.

"That's what I'm worried about, Mana-chan... You see, he looks really worried and he left without telling me anything... In fact, maybe he's panicked? I have no idea why he know this house, too, but... well, this is a small town, so maybe he knows... but I can't shake the feeling of something wrong is about to happen... Ryo-bou, can you ask around for him maybe? He's like this..."
The grandmother took a photo and shows it to Ryouta. "I'm so sorry I can't tell anything else... my memory is a bit weak on that... but he's seem to have spiky brown hair and overally shorter than Yuu-kun. I don't remember exactly the clothes he wear, but it's a bit to warm clothes as it's a bit chilly... a right, he's wearing grey vest with a white horizontal zig-zag like line on the center... Either way, would you please do it? I'm so sorry to bother you..."
"Ah, no, it's alright, Obaa-san! I'll be sure to look for him! Eh, but before that, can I roast the bean really quick?"
"Oh, of course you can, but... why the bean?"
"Oh... errr..."
Ryouta seem really have no idea how to explain this to the old woman that it's for Setsubun or sort...

Mana was puzzled at her grandmother's words. She really didn't remember Yuu having any close friends during this period of time, and the description... spiky brown hair. The only person he knew that had brown hair was... Yuuki! Damn it! Yuuki was looking for his brother!
She didn't pay attention to the rest of the conversation, but she became rather worried about the situation at hand. Why Yuuki was searching for Yuu? Did he play an important role in this thing?
However, refore Ryouta could trail off further to to weaken his argument with doubts, and fully knowing that her grandmother would be somewhat unknowing of Shinto, just as her, she quickly explained before Ryouta could add more doubt to their intentions. "Oh, the beans are Ryo-kun's family remedy for varicella!" she quickly said "On the way here, he told me that her mother told him that if you ate roasted beans you wouldn't catch it! Really clever, don't you think, Obaa-san? He's always thinking in nii-san's and my safety! Anyway, you should just get to it, Ryo-kun".
Not losing time, however, she accompanied him into the kitchen, bringing out a pen from her backpack and writing into the palm of her hand 'Yuuki' and showing him it right away. She figured that Ryouta would guess what she was refering to.
