They've all got the same heartbeat, but her's is falling behind. Avery pulled the key from her backpack, balancing the Nyaromon in one arm. She inserted the key and twisted, listening as the rollers tumbled over one another and released. The door opened and she crashed inside, leaning against the door. Straightening up with a sigh, she slipped her Chucks off and pushed them against the wall, a habit she had been doing since the first day of moving here.
She motioned for Hiro and Carrie to come inside and glanced around. "My mom is here, but I don't think my dad is back from work yet," she whispered in Japanese.
The Italian teen made her way into the spacious open concept living room-kitchen combination area and waved at a thin blonde woman who stood at the bar, clearly wrapped up in some strange Japanese show. She blinked bright blue orbs and smiled.
"Oh hey there dear," she spouted off in English. "Oh and who are your friends?" she asked.
"Mama, this is Hiro and Carrie. They go to school with me." Glancing at the other two teens, she translated, "This is my mom." Again directing her gaze at her mom, she smiled and said in a much more rapid tone, "Wir gehen in mein Zimmer , um zu studieren . " (We're going up to my room to study.)
She turned and dashed up the stairs and turned left at the first door in the hall. She took a seat at her computer and twirled around, placing Patch on the floor. "You guys can make yourselves comfortable," she said, going back to Japanese

Now that the rush of adrenaline was gone and he had a moment to think, Hiro was feeling just a bit awkward. He hadn't been the social kind of person in a while and if he was being honest, he just realized that he was hanging around two girls. It was a bit better thanks to Tetsu and Patch, but he was kind of thinking human centrically and it was messing with his head a little.
He followed AJ into the house and took of his shoes as well, making sure to take the time to move them into a nice position rather than just kicking them off like he normally did. When AJ mentioned that her mother would be here, Hiro wondered briefly if the parent knew about Patch. He had told his brother about Digimon, but failed to mention the more dangerous parts of Tetsu and his fellow Digital Monsters.
Still, he wanted to be polite. He wracked his brain for a moment for the proper translation before saying, "Pardon the intrusion. It's a pleasure to meet you." To the parent with a quick bow before hurrying to follow AJ. He made sure to keep his right hand out of sight. The manacle from the hand cuff was still hanging off of it and he didn't want to bring out any questions.
Once he was in the room, he felt both relieved and a bit more tense. He smiled weakly at AJ's offer and sit on the floor close to the center of the room. He flipped open his bag and pulled Tetsu out. The fox was practically purring after eating so much metal.
"Well that was a thing." Hiro sighed in relief as he let Tetsu start to gnaw the manacle off his hand. The thing was pinching his skin and he would be glad to finally get it off. "I guess our lucky hasn't run out just yet, ne?"

Carrie entered, taking off her shoes and hiding her hands behind her back to hide the cuffs. She bowed to the mother. "H-hello... your daughter's very nice..." She put on a false smile as she followed her friends. Entering AJ's room, she waited patiently for Tetsu to finish up Hiro before holding out her cuffs for him. "I-I didn't know you knew english, Hiro..." She said, trying to make conversation while waiting. She pet Tetsu with a free hand as he ate, smiling. "D-do you think they'll remember our faces and names? I-I'd hate to go to school with a warrant out for me..." She mumbled, worried. More silence on her part as she looked around AJ's room before asking the inevitable question. "...Does your mom know?" She expected the question to be dragged out without a yes or no answer, but she needed to know, even if it was just for reference on if she could tell her own parents or not.

They've all got the same heartbeat, but her's is falling behind. When Hiro questioned their luck the teen sighed and leaned back in her rolling chair. And then Carrie was almost asking the same question when she asked if the police would remember their faces.
"Dunno. I mean, hopefully Patch's Cat's Eye worked to knock out some of those memories, but I'm not really sure how any of that works." Patch, although curled up in the teen's lap, let his wind around the tamers wrist like it had earlier. It was almost an affectionate gesture.
"...Does your mom know?"
The ebony-haired tamer blinked and glanced down at Patch before glancing up at the red-haired girl. She shook her head. "No, he's usually in my backpack when Ieave for school, or he just sleeps on my bed. Which...he does a lot of sleeping, but he learned really quick it was a secret to be kept."
Glancing over at Hiro, her blue eyes concentrated on him. "Do your parents know?"
She didn't ask Carrie simply because she figured she was all so new to this they hadn't had time to find out or she hadn't had time to tell them, but really she doubted she would. And that brought the question to her mind. What would happen if they did find out?

"Yeah, I lived in America for a few years. You kind of pick it up fast when its the only language anyone around you speaks." Hiro explained his ability to speak English. "Never quite got rid of the accent though."
He watched Tetsu break the handcuffs off of Carrie before chewing on them like a dog would a bone. The little guy seemed perfectly content. He had a nice snack of metal and a friend petting him. All was right in the world.
Hearing them talk about the cops, Hiro just shrugged. "We didn't give our names and they didn't grab any identification and...well, it doesn't really matter. Even if they do remember us its not like they have any proof that we were there. We just need to keep denying it."
Hiro listened patiently as AJ explained how she kept Patch hidden and nodded. Patch didn't exactly seem that hard to hide, especially since he could degenerate to smaller forms. When asked about his own situation, Hiro rubbed the back of his neck.
"Well, no they don't. I don't live with my parents. They're still in America. I live with my older brother. He knows about Tetsu and doesn't really mind. He kind of just treats him like a small purple dog." Hiro tilted his head. "Well, a talking purple dog... that constantly eats our cutlery."

Carrie continued to pet Tetsu, thinking on what she knew about digimon. Is it possible that this cute, cuddly purple fuzzball would turn into one of those massive, masculine, attractive angel men she saw when she first came to the digital world? Did that mean she would be... digivolving, she believed they called it? What if she digivolves and can't turn back? Would it be possible to be stuck as a digimon forever? How come she was chosen? So many thoughts filled her mind before she snapped out of it and focussed back on her friends.
"Strange, you don't look American." Carrie pointed out. She nodded at the explanations, even if the two had completely different predictions, the outcomes remained positive. Her discussion of Patch made her nod. "I... suppose it makes sense. Cats do like to sleep, I guess this even counts for digital cats..." The girl looked at the cat, smiling gently.
"I... don't think I should tell my parents... b-but you two are lucky. Patch can just pretend to be a cat and Tetsu a plush toy... I have to keep this quiet from everyone... The more I think about it the more worried I get, i-it's just not..." she mumbled again and continued petting Tetsu.
"..What happens if I de-digivolve as Gotsumon? Or if I digivolve as her? I-I know you probably don't have answers b-but I'm worried..."

They've all got the same heartbeat, but her's is falling behind. It was interesting to hear that Hiro had been to an English speaking country. She had been to America a few times as well. Mostly on the east coast of the country where New York was since that where many ambassadors went.
The older boy also made a valid point that they had not given any identiying information away. There had been no video cameras or anything to show it had specifically been them at the school.
When Hiro explained his living situation, AJ nodded. It was good that he had an understanding brother. She could only imagine how her parents would react to Patch. Sure, he was cute and could pass as a cat--to some extent in his Mikemon form--but still.
Her gray-blue orbs danced over to Carrie as the red-headed girl began to ruminate again over her strange predicament. "..What happens if I de-digivolve as Gotsumon? Or if I digivolve as her? I-I know you probably don't have answers b-but I'm worried..."
AJ frowned. In all reality, she didn't have an answer for the other girl. "Maybe just go work up a sweat. Or think back to how you felt right before you turned back to you. Was there anything specifically different about that moment?"

"America is pretty diverse. It's kind of weird being back in Japan were it's pretty much just Japanese people." Hiro said with a shrug. "I wouldn't really call myself an American anyways. I was on a Green card the entire time."
Hiro frowned as Carrie fretted about her own situation. It was completely different from both his and AJ's so the amount of advice he could give was pretty limited. He didn't even know too much about Digimon so he couldn't answer any of her questions with hard facts, he could only give her theories. Hopefully the Digimon or even AJ could correct him if he was wrong.
"I don't know. I mean, I only know things from Tetsu telling me and experimentation." Hiro frown twisted into a scowl as he fell into deep thought. "For Tetsu, Digivolving, either forward or back a form, is mostly due to our Digivice. Unless he takes a lot of damage or has a lot of energy stored up, he can't do it by himself."
Hiro pulled out his Digivice from his pocket. "This thing is key to Digivolving, at least for partners. I know if I'm far enough from Tetsu, he loses strength and even falls to a lower form if I'm far enough away." Hiro tilted his head as he tried to build up a feasible theory. "I don't think you need to worry about that distance part though, since Gotsumon is riding around in your head."
"Gah." Hiro mussed up his hair as he struggled with come up with any useful knowledge but came up empty. "I can't think of anything. Sorry Carrie."

She sighed and took a few breathes, trying to relax. "M-maybe we should move on... t-try to start a conversation or something..." She was silent and looked around AJ's room to try and find something to discuss, the room in question feeling nice and fluffier than her own. She figured this was from AJ's somewhat fancy and rich upbringing. A rather uncomfortable thought crossed her mind. "...What happens if they have to move again?" Carrie asked, bringing up the elephant in the room she was probably the only one to notice. "The only portal to the Digital World's in Shibuya. Patch wouldn't be able to go back... A-and have you been to the digital world? I-It's kinda the only place you can learn things about these digimon... i-it's not like you can look them up at the library." She looked worried. "I-I mean my family can't move anywhere, we don't have the money b-but..."

They've all got the same heartbeat, but her's is falling behind. Hiro went into detail about his time in America. The Italian girl smiled. "I've been to America a couple of times. I only saw a little bit of the city we stayed in, New York. My dad had business there, but it was pretty cool, but kinda dirty too."
Their conversation of course turned back to the matter at hand, Carrie's digivolution. Hiro retierated what Tetsu had told him, and it was very similar to what Patch had told her as well.
Carrie offered up another topic. A conversation of sorts. She was up for talking about anything, if it helped the girl cope with her new found lifestyle, but her gray-blue orbs. "Uhm...well," the ebony-haired tamer stuttered then fell silent.
Her azure gaze danced over to little green blob on her bed and she sighed. "I don't know really. I just enrolled in the school here. I've never been in a public school before, so I'm hoping that means this a permanent home, but..." she muttered. She rubbed the back of her head. "So Carrie, what are your parents like?" she asked, trying to redirect the topic.

"New York? Huh, never been there." Hiro tried to picture AJ in the Big Apple. It was surprisingly a simple task. His father bounced around cities every so often for business, but he and his mother stayed at home.
He liked to think he was a bit more worldly than most Japanese people because of his few years in America, but he was pretty sheltered, wasn't he? He had been to a few cities in America but really, he had spent most of his time in the same suburbs.
"There shouldn't be any problem with taking a Digimon away from Shibuya." Hiro tilted his head. "What do you think Tetsu?"
"I... don't know." The little fox copied his partner and tilted his head too. "I don't know much about the Real World."
He listened to AJ and Carrie switch the conversation to parents and fell silent. He didn't really want to talk about his own parents. There was a reason that he was living with his older brother and not them.

"My parents?" Carrie asked, thinking. "W-well... my mom is... She doesn't do much... I never really... well... She likes to gamble." The girl had clearly never had to introduce someone to someone else. She couldn't think of anything without falling into silence and staring into the distance. In hindsight, it was a miracle she was able to make friends with these two and Mana considering how she was stumbling to speak with them now. "My father... um... he's really busy. He works at a construction site..." She cleared her throat slightly, looking around and trying to think of what else to say.
"M-Maybe we should... um... what about you, Hiro?" She looked at him, confused. "What about your older brother? Is he... um... maybe we could have Gotsumon look into him instead of you?"

They've all got the same heartbeat, but her's is falling behind. The conversation bounced back to the topic of taking a Digimon out of Shibuya. Was it like wi-fi? The father away you got, the less access you had to the internet. Or was Patch in such a solid form-flesh and blood-that she could take him places?
Carrie explained that her mother liked to gamble. This cause AJ to quirk an eyebrow but she didn't really say anything. When the other girl commented that her father worked at a construction site, she smiled. "I bet that's fun, but it's probably loud."
She glanced over at Hiro. "Yeah, what about you? You said you live with your other brother. What is he like, if you don't mind me asking?"

Hiro listened quietly as Carrie described her home life. He was unsure if the girl was just continuing to be shy or if she didn't exactly get along with her parents. He was also unsure if he wanted to follow that train of thought. So when the girls brought up his brother as a conversation piece, he gladly bit the bait.
"Yeah... not really sure my brother would be a good choice for that, mostly because he has a girlfriend." Hiro drawled out slowly. As much fun it would be to somehow divert Gotsumon's attention onto Shun, he wasn't on that bad of terms with his brother. That and Kasumi would kill him.
"Living with Shun?" Hiro hummed as he tilted his head. "It's different. I guess I have more freedom since my brother is pretty lax compared to my parents. Though Kasumi is kind of a neat freak."
"It's great." Tetsu cheered. "Though I need to act like a doll whenever Kasumi is around."
"He's a business consultant for this energy company." Hiro continued with a slight frown. He never really had to describe his brother before. "He's athletic and tends to get on my case to exercise more, though I think that's my dad getting on his case. I dunno, he's just my brother."
"We're not as close as we used to be." Hiro said with a hint of regret. A lot of that was his fault, but time and distance had done it's damage as well. "He stayed in Japan when the rest of moved to America. I kind of resented him for it."

They've all got the same heartbeat, but her's is falling behind. AJ had to stifle her laughter when Hiro mentioned it wasn't a good idea. She understood where he was coming from since Gotsumon would probably flirt with his brother.
He then went into a bit of a description. It seemed like the two got along, with the occasional moment. She smiled. "Well, it's good you have your freedom," she said, glancing around her room. At times she felt, well that she didn't have all that much freedom. Her parents had definitely become more lax since she had began going to the high school, but there were times when they still insisted on the bodyguard going with her.
When he mentioned he sort of resented his brother for staying, she quirked an eyebrow. "Didn't you like traveling? But I do understand since this is your home."
