Defining Your Ideals (Finished)

"Thank god." Hiro threw his bag next to his seat and slumped into a seat. Hiro closed his eyes and just let his body fall against the table. He was exhausted.
Hiro had returned home to the Human World rather uneventfully. His brother had kicked him around and he had gotten a rather stern lecture from his brother's girlfriend for worrying them, but he had gotten back in one piece.
To his annoyance, returning to the Digital World had not gotten rid of the excess hair that he had spontaneously grown nor had it gotten rid of the pink streak in it. Kasumi had been giddy at the change and had convinced his brother that he needed new clothes to go with his new hair style. So rather than rest, his first day back home had been getting dragged store to store and being used as a life sized doll for his brother's girlfriend. Not fun.
His brother had graciously taken the three bags of clothes they had bought with him back to the apartment. Hiro decided that some recovery was necessary, so he had headed to his favorite cafe. Mr. H greeted him just as always and didn't even bat an eye at Tetsu's new shape. He just joked that Tetsu should lay off the blueberries before taking their order and shooing them to a table so he could work his magic.
"Ow." Tetsu groaned as he climbed out of Hiro's bag and jumped up onto the table. He was about to glare and yell at Hiro when Mr. H walked by with their orders. The older man chuckled at Hiro and placed his drink next to his head and handed Tetsu a cookie as large as his body. The mini blue dragon took advantage of his new body's hands and began his consumption of the body sized pastry.
"Hey, Tetsu." Hiro said, his body not moving from it's limp position. "What do you think of Justice?"
"Mmph?" Tetsu paused in his cookie consumption and swallowed the chunk in his mouth. "Eh, what do you mean, Hiro?"
Hiro let his arm fall off the table and blindly reached for his bag. It took him a few tries, but he eventually found it and rummaged through it. He pulled out the object and let it fall on the table. There, the Digimental of Justice gleamed in the light.
"The Digimental of Justice." Hiro said as he tilted his head so he could stare at it. "I've just been thinking about it for a while. Cherrymon said that it was waiting for me, but what do I do with it and... well, why Justice?"
"I think it's a perfect fit." Tetsu said happily as he continued to nom on his cookie.
"You would." Hiro smiled at his partner and fiddled with the Digimental a bit. He was lost in his own thoughts about the egg.

Koharu recommended him a nice cafe for dating, and according to her, it's very comfy and the owner seem to know about Digimons, so they may be out in the open. He think it'll be good for Babydmon to be out in the open for a while, especially since he doesn't have holosuit... and acting like a doll isn't exactly pleasant. The boy just wished that he could buy one for his partner soon. Poor him having to go acting like a toy just like that... The boy came in before he suddenly saw someone familiar.
"Yo, Hiro!" he greeted.
The small baby dragon Digimon on his shoulder waved his wispy tail at the duo.
"Fancy meeting you here! 'sup?"
It might be because he's a bit way too relaxed and overly friendly, but Ryouta pulled a chair to Hiro's table, grinning as he sat on it. That's when his eyes landed on the object on the table. It looked like a familiar object. Ryouta pondered a while before finally noticing what it is. "Oh, a Digimental? What's your virtue? Mine is Justice."

Hiro blinked away a bit of his exhaustion when he noticed that someone had sat down at his table. His mind snapped away from his thoughts on Justice and the Digimental he looked up at the person at his table. It took him a moment to recognize the boy and another to bring his name up.
"Ryouta?" Hiro said in surprise. He pulled his body up so that he was sitting normally and gave Ryouta a tired smile. "Hey, it's nice to see you."
"Hiya." Tetsu grinned a chocolaty grin at the duo and waved a stubby arm in greeting. "You should try a cookie. They're delicious." Almost to prove his point, Tetsu went right back to trying to eat his own mass in cookie.
When Ryouta mentioned the Digimental and named it, Hiro hoped that he could get some information on the damn thing. Cherrymon had just dropped it in his lap without much of an explanation.
"Really?" Hiro hummed as he poked the Digimental. "This is a Digimental of Justice too. I guess they can look different even if they have the same virtue, ne." Hiro shook his head to clear out the theory and put it on the back burner for now. "A friend of mine gave it to me, said it was waiting for me. I think he may have made a mistake. I don't exactly feel like a person full of justice." Hiro said as he tilted his chair back so that it was leaning on two legs.

"Mmm, I think in that case, I'm the same, too," Ryouta pointed out. "I'm not exactly the most righteous, I mean... while I'm raised to always have strong perception of what's right and wrong, in the end it felt like just what socially acceptable and unacceptable. One side of me said that justice means to forgive everything, willing to give everything a second chance while giving them a lesson... another said of me said it's to enact exact same action toward those who did 'evil'. It's completely different justice, yet for some reason, both answered my call no problem..."
Ryouta poked Hiro's Digimental carefully. "The thing is, does this thing answered your call? Did it react when you called Digimental Up? I got a friend that seem cannot use his Digimental once they seem to go against their virtue... so... more or less, if you can use it, then it's truly yours. If you can't, well, then... I don't think that you understand it... It's just a theory though."
He then looked at the menu nearby. "Hey, mind if I order and eat with you?"

"I see." Hiro murmured thoughtfully. It was true enough. Justice could be different from person to person, from place to place, from government to government. After all, at one time, an eye for an eye was the epitome of justice. Now they had a complex law that defined justice. But for something personal like this...
"I guess I need to define my own sense of Justice, then?" Hiro's face twisted into a thoughtful scowl. It was something he had been thinking about for the last few days. He had been so committed to his own thoughts that he almost missed what Ryouta said next about the Digimental.
"React?" Hiro parroted the word before his eyes widened. Ryouta had a Digimental and he could use it. "Wait, you know what this thing does? Cherrymon just dropped it into my hands. It didn't exactly come with an instruction manual."
"Digimental are used for Armor Evolution." Tetsu said through a mouthful of cookie.
"Yes, that's great, but how?" Hiro glared at his partner who shrugged. Tetsu had only know that one tidbit about Digimentals.

"Y...you never tried?" Ryouta looks really surprised. "Uh, yeah, I do have one... no, two and I can use it but only once on both for some reason. For some reason, both are black in my D-Terminal which means I cannot use it... It doesn't seem I go against my virtue, but... yeah, it just doesn't makes sense... I think there's more to it, but since I can access Ultimate despite for a short amount of time, I don't really need both..."
Since Hiro said nothing about him cannot eating beside him (and plus, if he doesn't like it, he'll just eat on the next table while resuming the talk), Ryouta ordered two burgers with side of fries also some milkshake to go with it. The fifteen years old opened his D-Terminal to show his Digimental to Hiro.
"See? Both are somehow dark, which means even if I shout 'Digimental Up!' it won't respond. But I guess yeah, you need to define your own justice and act like it. Honestly, justice is a very vague virtue. If your justice is eye for an eye, killing people can be considered justice, too. But do you think that justice is right in other people's eyes? That's why, I think bearer of justice like us just have to define our ideal first. And explanation about how Digimental works..."
"I'll explain!" Babydmon quipped enthusiastically.
"Sure, go on, partner!"
"Etoo... lessee, yup, it's used for armor Digivolution, but most of all, it's easy access to a level higher than you are! Generally people have to Armors, Champion and Ultimate. Armor evolutions is quite weaker compared to the proper level, but basically, it's quite great to have, especially for versatility! Speaking of that, to activate it, all you have to do is to say 'Digimental Up!' or something."

"I didn't know how it worked." Hiro defended himself. It was an egg and Tetsu just said that it was used for Armor Evolution. That wasn't exactly a solid instruction base. "Stupid tree." He muttered under his breathe. Cherrymon could have spared a single minute to explain the damn thing.
He rubbed his face as Mr. H came by and took Ryouta's order and listened as he explained more about the Digimentals. The fact that they could be stored in the D-Terminal would make his life a lot easier. Now if only he knew how to get it in the damn thing.
Babydramon filled in the rest of the blanks. Hiro took in the information and looked down at the Digimental on the table. It was so simple when they said it. He held it up in the light and looked down at Tetsu who was finishing off his cookie and considered the option.
Before he could finish that thought, a heavy tray slammed into the top of his head. "Ow."
Mr. H placed down Ryouta's order and handed Tetsu another cookie. "Don't even think about it. Keep the Digimon to Rookie and lower. I've got a shop to maintain."
"Just how much do you know about this anyways?" Hiro rubbed the top of his head. He had entered the shop with Tetsu and when he was still a Dorimon. The little guy had not learned to shut up in public, but the cafe owner just took the Digimon in stride.
"Please." Mr. H just chuckled. He turned to Ryouta and Babydramon. "The same goes for the two of you. Keep the forms small and don't cause a mess. Otherwise you're always welcome."
"More business for you, right?" Hiro quipped. The cafe owner laughed but didn't deny the claim. The man just shot them an easy grin before leaving to take another order. "I will never understand that guy."
Hiro shook off the interruption. "But you have a Digimental of Justice, too. Where did you get it?"

"So you got it... without knowing what to do with it? I thought everyone have to do some sort of trial or to find it, with at least an instruction of how to use it? Seriously...? Wow, OK, no offense, Hiro, but that's... certainly new for me... most people that I know who have Digimentals generally at least know how to use it because either they're told how to use it by someone who know to use it, or that the Digimental itself tell them how to do it."
He was about to say more about it, but after listening to Babydmon's explanation, it's seem that Hiro is... planning to use it?! Ryouta almost going to jump at the other black haired, trying to stop him, but luckily for him (and unfortunately for Hiro), the cafe owner (?) slammed a tray to Hiro... a tray that seem to hold Ryouta's order. The muscular teen winced at such display of reminding someone, but ehh...
"...Well, he's right. Champion Digimons sometimes can be quite big... that also applies for Armors, so best be careful, bud."
Ryouta took his order from the tray and start eating. His partner beside him seem to prefer eating fries first. He nodded at the man's warning to keep his partner to rookie or lower. The teen himself about to take the third bite when Hiro asked where he got his.
"...Long story cut short, I met other dimension version of myself, in form of data. They gave me... trials to pass... and then, I got my Digimental."

"A trial, huh?" Hiro thought that sounded about right. He probably had a trial of his own that he had to do. He wondered if the mist was the trial before tossing the thought. He hadn't learn about Justice in the mist. He had just gotten over what despair and panic had clouded his vision.
"I didn't really have one of those." Hiro grimaced. He felt a little undeserving of his own Digimental in face of that.
"Hmm, maybe Cherrymon didn't think you needed one." Tetsu chirped as he picked up the new cookie that Mr. H had give him. "He said you had the eyes of the one that deserved the Digimental after all."
"I don't think that's all of it." Hiro refused to think that just because he had a heart to heart talk with Tetsu about stopping people from hurting others that he was full of Justice. He was a bit more resolved now about what he was going to do and who he was going to be, but Cherrymon still had just dumped the thing into his hands. "It... doesn't feel quite right yet."
The egg still weighed heavily in his hands, like it didn't quite fit just yet. He probably needed to do something to unlock it. He was still tempted to test it out, but he still recalled Tetsu's caution on forcing an evolution.
"Do you think I should go back to Cherrymon and ask?" Hiro asked both Tetsu and Ryouta.

Ryouta looked up at Hiro (because he's in almost slumping position as he's eating his burger) when he asked to him (and probably Tetsu) if he should go back to Cherrymon and asked about his armor predicament. Ryouta swallowed the food on his mouth before answering.
"I honestly think that's a trial in its own, Hiro. Look, I know you're confused, but more or less, answer won't just directly come to you. You sometime have to search it for your own... I think, Cherrymon gave it to you in hope that you'll understand the meaning of the Digimental, and would eventually become more mature. In a sense, it's like an adventure, you know?"
He relaxed and leaned his back on the chair. "Maybe you can go to Digital World and looks for something that would invoke sense of justice within you... maybe you have to see the vivid world by yourself to see everything it got to offer... Maybe that way, your sense of justice would form itself. There's no right answer for this one, and I'm pretty sure Cherrymon got his own reason... Maybe it's as silly as 'taking out the trash' to him, but... if it's just like that, then what's the fun in doing it?"
The black haired teen grinned.
"This world is too beautiful to be ignored and not explored afterall!"

"Ugh, now you sound like Mr. H." Hiro groaned out in response to the cheesy saying. If Mr. H gave him another speed on how it was 'A Wonderful World' out there, he was going to sic Tetsu on him. He was rewarded for his complaining with another tray to his head, though the blow was lighter thanks to the tray being empty rather than laden down with food.
"Then he is wise for his age." The cafe owner quipped as he walked by.
"Ow, god. He never misses a queue. I swear he hears everything in here." Hiro muttered angrily as he rubbed his head.
"But they're right." Tetsu voiced his own opinion. He had put down his cookie and walked over to place a hand on Hiro's arm. "I don't think Cherrymon would have given you the Digimental if he thought you couldn't or wouldn't use it."
"I know." Hiro acknowledged. He had worked for the old tree for a bit before and after Tetsu had hatched after all. Cherrymon was a lot of things, grumpy, sarcastic, and a slave driver, but he gave credit where credit was due. The old tree was also big on letting people figure things out on their own. Every time Hiro had asked the tree for direction or advice, the grumpy caretaker had waved him off and told him to work it out. "Ugh, I guess it was too much to ask for an easy answer."
"Justice is never easy." Tetsu said wisely. His wise expression was broken by a finger flick.
Hiro smirked down at his partner. "Justice can totally be easy. People... and Digimon are the ones that make it difficult."
"Hmph." Tetsu huffed as he covered his head with his arms. "I think Justice is making the difficult choice."
"It's not always the difficult choice." Hiro repeated.
"Difficult."
"Easy." The two repeated their views like children.

Ryouta merely grinned when Hiro told him that he's starting to sound like someone... maybe the cafe owner as he goes to smack Hiro yet again and told him that Ryouta is wise for his age. The black haired boy put his arms behind his head as he watched his friends banter with each other and laughed.
"Alright, alright, you guys... It's subjective, really. The thing is, some people already found their justice, that's why they think it's easy to answer... another haven't fully find their justice... just like me. I don't think there's an absolution of so called justice unless it's your own... Mine just happened to be 'I don't want to see anyone suffer. If someone make another suffer... they'll have to pay'. Simple as that, really... But I also understand that eye for an eye might be wrong, too... that's why I'll just beat those wrongdoers and give them some chance."
Ryouta took a sip out of his milkshake before suggesting something at the duo.
"Speaking of which, are you guys free? Maybe travelling to Digital World would do you two good. I can even accompany you if you want."

Hiro stared down at Tetsu who was glaring right back up at him. If either one budged the other would never let him live it down for the rest of the day, or until they did something else stupid that they could mock each other for all day. They listened to Ryouta's statement with one ear, but it kind of just passed over them.
For Hiro, he already knew that. Justice changes from place to place and from time to time. It's a concept that can't be summed up for anyone. For Tetsu, he just didn't understand what Ryouta was saying and just turned back his attention to fully staring at Hiro.
When the other Tamer brought up the idea of a Digital World trip, Hiro had a single point to make. "Don't we have a bunch of shoots to do for the movie?"
"Hmph." Tetsu huffed and turned away just as Hiro looked over at Ryouta in an oddly synchronized move. "I still think you could have gotten a better part."
Hiro rolled his eyes. He looked over at Ryouta with a tilted head. "But yeah, other than that we're pretty much free."

"Well yeah, but as for me, my schedule is pretty much clear until the day after tomorrow. Digital World kind of flow with its own time, too. I can ask my girlfriend to remind me what time it is as we go through. We can just hope that it'll be easy on us and slows down the time... Either way, if you want to, just call me, alright? Because you're the one going, you need to choose the place by yourself, though," he joked. "I'm not sure what level you're currently in, but with an Ultimate around, I only can hope that it'll be enough for two of us to keep it safe."
Still, when Tetsu mentioned that Hiro should aim for bigger role, Ryouta just laughed and scratched his head. "Alright, alright, calm down, Tetsu. Hiro got his own pick in this one. What about if you just persuade him to take better role in the next filming? He might be amateur right now, but if his acting is good enough, maybe one day he could be even the Rider himself! That ain't bad of a deal, right? Everyone started it small, and they'll raise to higher position later on. Just take it easy for now."

"Well, it would be nice to have some company in the Digital. Human company." Hiro amended after Tetsu threw him a pout. "The last time I went was... bad..." Hiro said with a wince. He really didn't want to think about that particular event and the breakdown that followed.
"It would be nice to have a trip to the Digital World that doesn't end in death and manual labor." Tetsu nodded sagely, though the effect was ruined by the large chocolate stains around his mouth.
"Yeah. We could actually get some research done this time." Hiro sighed. He had originally went to the Digital World for information about the Digivices and about Spirits, but all he had learned was about Digimon reincarnation. He listened to Ryouta's offer and whistled admirably when his mentioned his partner's highest level. "Ultimate? Damn, I guess we'll be relying on you for the heavy lifting. We can hit Champion and... well Armor once I learn how to unlock this thing."
Hiro tapped the Digimental with a frown. "Which we should probably test out in the Digital World where its safe."
"Oh, oh. Maybe it'll let me fly!" Tetsu hoped with sparkles in his eyes.
"Maybe." Hiro chuckled. He turned to Ryouta and gave him a lopside smile and shrug. "Well, I guess we're in for a trip to the Digital World. I'll leave the timing to you, if you don't mind."
