It was dark. Almost pitch black even. Nova could only see himself, but was aware of his actions. He could also see Sparks facing off against a tall silhouette. "Sparks, Digivolve!" Nova ordered. Sparks glanced over his shoulder, giving Nova a confident smirk and a nod. "Sparkmon Digivolve to..." Sparks began shining with golden light as his body started changing shape. Then suddenly the light he gave off turned blood red. Sparks cried out in pain as his Digivolution began to contort. When the light finally died down, standing in place of Sparkmon's familiar face was a dark colored bipedal lizard. He turned around and faced Nova, his eyes consumed by an ominous red glow.
Nova was rooted to the spot out of fear. NotSparks lunged, trying to strike Nova with his claws. Then out of nowhere, a glowing figure appeared, carrying Nova away at the last possible second. The light he gave off was so bright, that Nova couldn't make out who it was. For all he knew it could've been Jimmy or one of his other friends. They we're out of hot water just yet, proven when NotSparks launched a stream of flames and lightning from his mouth. Nova could only watch as the attack got closer and closer, threatening to consume both him and his rescuer until-
Nova quickly sat up, wide eyed and breathing heavily. When he noticed he was uninjured, he gave a sigh of relief. Just another nightmare, he thought. That's when he noticed his hand brushed up against something. Slowly looking down, he saw that it had brushed up against the ring of light around Angelo Sparkmon's wrist. Heh, my guardian angel, Nova thought in amusement. Perhaps the shining figure was another Sparks, or possibly Robin. Looking at the sky, it appeared to be early in the morning. Nova stood and pointed his Fusion/Xros Loader at Sparks, who was still sleeping peacefully. "Digi Defuse," he whispered. On command, Sparks separated from the five Kyupimons, all still asleep.

Jimmy gave a deep yawn as he leaned against a nearby wall. He sadly ended up with the last watch for the night. Perhaps it's what he deserves for worrying everyone last night. He did kind of end up forcing everyone to wake in order to come help him and Nova.
At very least the night proved to be very quiet. With nothing of note having happen, Jimmy finally had the opportunity to work on his writing. Something that he wasn't really able to do for a few weeks now. Though he wasn't quite sure how good his writing actually was in his half tired state. It also didn't help that he had to struggle with a small flashlight to see what exactly he was doing. If only he had this type of peace and quiet while it wasn't in the middle of the night.
Well morning eventually arrived as the sun slowly began to rise in the horizon. And with the morning sun, the first of Jimmy's companions awoke. It actually startled the spirit wielder a little to see Nova wake so suddenly. It almost seemed like it was some type of nightmare that woke Nova up.
"Morning Nova." He said as he quickly worked on finishing this last page he wanted to get done.

Looking around, he saw that he didn't wake anyone up, and that Jimmy was already awake. "Morning Jimmy," he said to the Spirit Wielder. He then scratched his head as he tried to remember what happened the previous night. Punching out a Lobomon... fighting a Kendo Garurumon... That's right, Jimmy had obtained his next Spirit. He would have to do something about those nightmares. "So, what are you working on?" Nova asked curiously.
Little did they know, word had gotten out in the Digital World that Nova's mother was looking for him and his sister while they were in the middle of the desert.

"Oh it's uhh... Uhh nothing." Jimmy said shyly as he decided to stash his writing stuff into his bag. He wasn't exactly one to be open about his stories out of fear of being judged. Especially with someone who he considers to be a friend and when the story itself has yet to be completed.
"So anyways. How are you feeling? You did just kind of dropped unconscious there without much warning." Jimmy asked out of curiosity as he put his things away. It also helped that it changed the subject too.

"Despite being about as tired as yesterday, surprisingly energetic," Nova answered. "Sure will suck if I end up passing out in the middle of a fight. Sparks needs me in order to use Xros," he stated. Hopefully that wouldn't happen. In case it did, Nova would have to make sure Sparks used his strongest forms in case he needed them. "I have been having a lot of crazy dreams lately, but this last one took the cake. A shining figure swooped in and tried to save me from a monster, but instead it ended with us both dying. The crazy part is he wasn't there in the others, and saved me from the first attack, which is normally where it ends for all of them," he explained.
"Or at least I think it was a he. I couldn't tell with all the light he was giving off, let alone see his face," he added as an afterthought.

"Huh... Your right. That is a crazy dream." Jimmy agreed as he gave it some thought. From the sounds of it, could he possibly be the shinning figure that saves Nova? The timing fits if this was a new development to this reoccurring dream.
Though then again, it is just a dream. Probably doesn't actually matter much.
"Well anyways I wouldn't put to much stock in a dream like that. It's just a situation created by your mind in order to keep you prepared in case something like that ever does happen. In fact, when you think about it, it could just be your subconscious reflecting your inner worries about how you could possibly die in this world.
"Whatever the case may be. Do you remember what the monster that attacked you in your dream look like? Maybe we can identify it and use caution whenever a similar creatures comes up. That way we can put your mind at ease about the whole situation. It probably will help you get some more sleep as well." Jimmy said, slightly surprising himself in the process.
With all the talk about Nova not getting enough sleep last night, Jimmy found himself writing about a character in a similar situation, and had already spent a bit of time thinking about it. Yet he didn't expect that that time thinking about these types of things would actually give him this type of insight towards Nova's situation. Hopefully it would help the Xros General out.

"Well let's see... I know Sparks was there too. He and I were facing off against the silhouette of what appeared to be a large Dragon Digimon. From the looks of it, I'd say this happens after he remembers how to Digivolve seeing as how he tried to Digivolve when something went wrong. When his Digivolution began, he gave off golden light, but about halfway through, the light he gave off changed to blood red," Nova explained. "He took the form of a dark colored dragon Digimon without wings and much more feral in appearance than any of the forms he has right now."
Of course what Nova was explaining could easily be recognized as Dark Digivolution. Lucy had once mentioned that Sparks seemed to be experiencing similar effects to it before while going wild, but never went into great detail.

Jimmy listened carefully as Nova explained his dream, the Spirit Wielder's eyes narrowing as he heard what happened when Sparks digivolved. "Dark Digivolution." He said to himself as he recognized what happened. While Jimmy was a Spirit Wielder, he has had experience with digimon who Dark Digivolved, even having to fight some of them. There was little doubt in Jimmy's mind that that was what Nova was explaining to him now. There was only one problem.
"Well I wouldn't worry to much about it then. With the bond both you and Sparks share, you would most likely have to be a catalyst for such a digivolution to occur. Which means that as long as you don't do anything to force Sparks into such a digivolution, you should be fine." Jimmy said trying to assure Nova, but he knew that it wasn't the whole truth. It was completely possible that Sparks was able to dark digivolve by himself. Though that would usually mean something big has happen to force him to do so. If only Shin was awake right now. He'd be able to figure out more about this type of stuff.
Well whatever the case may be, Jimmy knew that it would be a smart idea to keep an eye on Sparks from now on and make sure such an incident doesn't happen. While Nova's dream was most likely nothing more then that, a dream, Jimmy didn't want to risk losing one of the only friends he had left.

When Jimmy mentioned Dark Digivolution, Nova thought back to when Lucy told him about the similarities between the virus's effect and Dark Digivolution. "Actually I don't think that's entirely true. Remember when I went to check on Sparks back in Server Woods? Well while the Kyupimons and I were gone, Lucy said that there were similarities between when Sparks loses control to that virus and when a Digimon undergoes Dark Digivolution.
In short, while a Digimon can't control themselves when they Dark Digivolve, when Sparks used Hunter Sparkmon, he lost control in the middle of using it instead of being out of control from the start. Not only that, but according to Lilly, Sparks isn't exactly mindless when he loses control since he actually spoke while in his virus state," he explained. "Maybe the virus is what caused his Dark Digivolution in my nightmare in the first place," he suggested. He would discover that his theory wasn't far of later. Much, much later.
"Whatever the case is, I don't think I should tell Sparks that I've been having nightmares where he's trying to kill me. There's no telling how it'd affect him," he pointed out.

"Yeah. I understand. It's best to keep us between us." Jimmy said as he looked over at the sleeping digimon, "We're all pretty stress as is. There's no need to create any more tension among our team."
Jimmy then gave a sigh as he thought for a bit. "So do you have any idea where we should head off to next. I mean I understand where here to find those Mechanical Mercs, but I think it may be a good idea if we can reach them without having to wander through these harsh conditions all the way." Jimmy mentioned, definitely not one who enjoyed this type of heat.

"Actually, right now we're headed to the Ancient Ruins. According Sparks, that was his first home, so hopefully it'll give us a lead as to where we should head next as far as getting back his memories," Nova corrected before returning his gaze to Sparkmon's sleeping form. "Anyway, once we're done at the ruins, we'll be headed back through Server Woods to rescue X at the Mansion of Tears if he's still there, which he hopefully is," he explained. And then once that's out of the way, we'll try and find a way to expand our forces discretely and kick our enemy to the curb, he thought.

"So we're here to help get Sparks his memories back." Jimmy said he thought about it for a bit, "Well I guess I should have asked about that earlier. Though I could of swore you mention something about the those Mercs that attacked us having a base here and that we're are here to take care of that."
Jimmy leaned back against the rock. He honestly didn't have much care at this moment where they were heading. The rising sun was already beginning to warm up the desert to an uncomfortable degree and honestly he just wanted to get somewhere away from it quickly. He was never one for warmer climates, with how sweaty and icky it made him feel. Oh well... They'll hopefully be done with whatever they are doing here with in the next few days or so and then they can find somewhere more comfortable to set camp at.
"Well I guess we should look at fixing some grub. Everyone's going to need their strength for today." He said as he stood up and stretched, trying to figure what they should have for breakfast today.

"Yeah, especially if they show up," Nova agreed. Of course he was talking about the Machinedra Army. They had already proven twice now that they were a dangerous enemy, and, if Loader Leomon was as strong as Sparks said, they were going to need every ounce of strength they could muster today. Nova had a feeling that this day was going to get very hectic. He stood and walked over to a bare area of sand and got on his knees. Using his fingers, he began writing a message in the sand. Nova added that last part remembering Sparks needed practice with his Electrokinesis. "You know, it sure would be convenient if Lilly showed up," he said as he stood up again. "At any rate, we should make it to the ruins by this afternoon," he informed Jimmy.

Meanwhile, further into the desert, Duffer and Kotemon were doing what they usually did: try to remember why they were there in the first place and argue, respectively. "I still don't get why I have to exercise in the Digital World when we have a perfectly nice school gym, Kotemon. One where we needn't worry about heat stroke or dehydration or... well, being buried alive in sandstorms." The boy complained as the digimon in heavy, heavy armor seemed unphased by the heat, sand, and sun. "Duffer, the reason we're out here is because you'll lose more weight out here! Besides, if you die and collapse from any of those factors you'll just... actually, I'm not sure what happens. But if it's anything like us you'll just turn into an egg and we can start from scratch." "...Kotemon, I think it's the heat messing with my head, but did you just say that I wou-" "LOOK!" Kotemon interrupted. "Fellow walkers! You need friends, so let's go see." Kotemon waved its training sword in the air to draw the attention of the people further out. "...I hate you Kotemon." Duffer said, adjusting his t-shirt.

Jimmy leaned over to see what exactly Nova was doing. It seemed that he was writing something in the sand. A note that told the others that Nova and him headed off to find food. Why did this feel like deja vu?
"You know. I do have a paper and pen I could lend you if you really want to leave them a note. It'll probably be a lot more likely to stay readable then something you wrote in sand." Jimmy said with a sigh, "Besides I was thinking that we would just fix something using our spare rations. I don't know about you, but I'm not exactly all that much of a hunter-gatherer. Especially when it comes to the desert when the only things you'll find that is edible being some type of lizard or cactus. Both of which I don't trust."
Jimmy then moved to open up his bag before he took notice of something in the distance. "It looks like we have company. Do you think they could be a part of that machine army?" He asked as he put his hands into the pocket that stored his digivice, mentally preparing himself for a fight.
