A Few Good Heads (Timmir)

Hearing Vetina's voice call out made Mel cringe a little. He had not expected her to be here and had hoped to not see her for a very long time. While their last meeting did end with a high note, he still didn't like trying to decipher what she was saying. It was like trying to solve a word puzzle with only a few seconds.
"Yes. I guess you have a point there Vetina." Mel said trying to do what he can not to anger her. The last thing he needed now was more complications. "So then. Did you just want to chat, or are you here to offer your assistance?"

"Any assistance offered could be labeled circumstantial, perhaps. I've my own ends to knot up with 'our' kind. But I'll offer a handy limb... if the moment permits."
Whatever she needed from the Hylden area, Sanoske wasn't going to ask her what it was. But Vetina has helped them out in the past, so he wasn't particularly distrusting of her.
She digivolved into her VileSunflowmon form before crossing her thorny arms and tapping her chin.
"To the next point, no? I'll steed for Mel, lest you're gazed needles from your host's sister."
Regardless of who Mel went with, once all is settled, Karen would return to her champion form and lead the others to where the portal would be built. The trip would take a couple hours, including breaks, leading them to another abandoned building in the same town as Burst's old lab (although the lab and the other building were still a good distance apart).
It was an old, spacious warehouse, white in color and worn looking. Outside the door were two other digimon, Tab and what looked like a blue FlaWizardmon.

"No point wasting anymore time. Let's get going." Mel agreed as they set off.
Mel wasn't in control for most of the trip. There was already a large amount of animosity between him and Crystal. He honestly wouldn't like it to grow any larger. She was necessary in this rescue attempt, and her refusing to help could spell the end of the whole operation.
The whole trip proved to be longer then Crystal originally expected. She had thought they would make the portal close to where they were camping at, but it seems the engineers had a different idea. Not that it mattered all that much.
What she did find interesting though was the direction they were heading? If her memory was right, this was the same direction as Burst's lab. It would make sense though. Stay nearby where you have all the materials one needs to construct something as big as the portal they planned. That way they didn't need to travel the several hours back and forth to grab any necessary material from the lab when they needed too.
Once they reached the warehouse, Crystal looked around before asking, "So is this the place where were going to build this portal?"

With everyone arriving, Burst, Karen, and the Wizardmon Lezard got together.
"Hmm, I see you have the others... although I do not recall a palmon being one of the ones we were getting."
"Well, hon, she just came along. She has business with the Hylden as well, and was stalking the others."
"Hey, everything seems fine so far, and the extra hands will do us well! Now that we're all together lets go build us a portal!"
Meanwhile, Sanoske and Vetina let off their respective passengers. Tab remained where he was, waving towards Vetina, who seemed to ignore him. She wanted to see what they were working with in terms of materials.
As she went through the opening, she bumped into a large Gabumon variant, belching as she collided into him. Taking a step back, she gasped in surprise.
"R-rippah?"
Rippah looked at her... no, glared at her. Even Lezard looked over at her. If Rippah had issues with her he would not feel comfortable letting her stay.
"Any issues, Rippah? It seems like you two know each other."
"Aye, we've crossed paths long ago."
"When she attempted to bodysnatch my girlfriend *hurrap*"
"My apologies were concentrate. It was expounded that a collapsed bridge of stress rode on me at the time."
"She looks a bit different. Has she body-snatched anyone else?"
"Place the water under this bridge we're crossing. I've my own reasons for trekking here."

"Well well. It looks like I'm not the only one who likes taking what isn't his." Mel quickly quipped before switching places with Pure once more.
Crystal gave a nasty look at Pure before returning her attention to the matter at hand. "Well to get through this quickly as I don't think I recognize any one of you. I'm Crystal, he's Pure, the one inside Pure is Mel, and the big one is Sanoske. We are the ones who asked Tab to gather all of you so we can create this portal." She told everyone in the room.
"So... Uhh... Is there anything you need us to do?" Pure asked nervously. Wishing that Mel didn't made the comment he just made.

Burst turned away from Rippah and Vetina to address the siblings.
"Well, we mainly needed the Hylden in you for the portal... well specifically Mel... Anyway, we might need help setting things up at some point, but probably not at this stage. We got the parts, now we just got to put them all together."
Rippah eventually stepped aside, allowing Vetina through. He's not usually the type to hold grudges, but body snatching isn't something he's used to. But if Vetina is necessary for this mission to succeed, so be it.
"Sorry about *burrrp* that. Me and her didn't part in the best of ways. I'm Rippah. The wizard is Lezard. *beellch* And my sister, Cuttah, is inside, although chances are you won't see much of her up close... She's quite gassy... and anti social."
Tab waved, motioning to Rippah that he already told them about the two. He also had no speaker around, which meant he could not speak. Vetina looked around inside, seeing a large variety of parts around, as well as old containers and boxes. With Burst's lab destroyed, the others didn't really have much time to spend looking for another place. Fortunately, this place was nearby, making the search for another place short.

"It's nice to meet you all. And I really should give you all thanks for doing this." Pure said with a small bow, "I'm sure Mel would like to tell you his thanks as well, but he's kind of to stubborn to do so." A small bead of sweat could be seen rolling down his face as he said this. Speaking to so many people he didn't knew rocked him to his core, and it took quite some effort for him to say thanks without acting as if they were all about to kill him.
Crystal rolled her eyes as she heard that Mel would thank them too. She highly doubted it. There was still a good part of her who believed this was all still some type of trap devised by Mel. Something that she was going to keep in mind until she's proven without a doubt otherwise.
She then began taking a quick look around the warehouse wondering what exactly they had there. As she did so, she started to feel a little down on herself as she looked at the multitude of parts. Despite how smart she liked to think herself as, she had no clue what any of these parts did. So she probably wouldn't be anywhere near as much help in building the portal as she hoped she would be. Perhaps she should look at studying under some of these scientist as they work. There probably wouldn't be a better chance then now.

Burst, Karen, and Lezard gathered around the base of the portal, sitting in some simple folding chairs and facing the others. Lezard was the one to speak now, setting everything up.
"Now that we're all here, this is how we shall do things. This project will be led by the Hylden, Mel. He is the lynchpin of this operation and is the only one readily able to prepare the machine for traveling to the Hylden area.
Us three, as in myself, Karen, and Burst, will work directly under Mel. I'm pretty certain we can best understand the mechanics of such a device, so leave the heavy mental work to us.
You, as in Rippah, Crystal, and Sanoske, will aid in assembly when needed. The device will have to be large enough to take in most champion digimon, so building the proper apparatus may take a few extra hands..."
Burst interjected. "Oh, and you two, Sanoske and Crystal... since some of us can't really understand the growling, I'll have to ask you two to remain together during building the portal, and Crystal will act as translator."
^I am liking this plan more, already.^ He growled with a smirk.
"I'm going to assume that was affirmation."
"The remainder, Tab and Cuttah, shall be our errand do-ers. Tab's liquid body and Cuttah... being Cuttah deems them unfit to aid us directly, so they will work as support.
Once we get the details from Mel we can work out a timeframe. Any other questions?"

Crystal paused as she thought about the plan. It sounded like a pretty solid plan all things considering. She tried her best to find some hole in it, but to her chagrin, she couldn't. Perhaps this was another sign that she wasn't as good as she thought she was.
"I can't think of anything. Just that you keep a close eye on Mel and makes sure he doesn't do anything sketchy. The last thing I think any of us need is either a hoard of these Hyldens trying to possess us, or some other equally as horrible trap." She said quite bluntly. If it wasn't obvious how little she trusted Mel, it was now.
"I can assure you that the last thing I would do is help those bastards on the other side. Vetina over there can attest to that. Though if you must keep your suspicions up, then do so. It's probably for your best interest anyways. Just don't do anything to stop me from saving Celeste, for she's getting out of that place one way or another." Mel stated, "Now then. Shall we begin."

Surprisingly for herself, Vetina had found herself coming to Mel's defense.
"Crystal, a cinch of a concept as that is not the ends their gaze is upon. They, or some percentage, needn't Mel to open the door, their hands hold their own keys.
The waning being of his sister is due to the hands of the Hylden. For someone who had great intent towards preservation of her own sibling, awaken to the fact that such feelings are not exclusive to you, Crystal. Mel's means deserve ire, and more understanding.
It is this path of mind that, in part, stayed my hand against Mel and Pure.
Their plan is to grasp existence here. Not to beguile as another digimon, but a return to form. Even the Hylden bear weaknesses and issues here. My unique hylden data, they believe, can rectify this.
But... enough of this...we much assemble. I shall lend a hand to errands."
With that said, the brainy digimon went to working on the device.

((If you want?))
"Look. I'm just saying that he still might try something. We aren't even sure if he really has a sister in the first place." Crystal pointed out, "Besides it's the mere fact that he could have been doing all this for a sibling that I decided to go along with this plan. And once the truth has been fully revealed, we'll see if he gets my understanding or not."
She wondered what exactly happened during their search for Pure to cause Vetina to believe this. Sure it was most likely thanks to this event that Pure is still alive today, yet it did worry her how much Vetina's opinion on Mel seemed to change. She seemed so headstrong in killing Mel. Now not only did she decide to not help them when they first encountered Mel, but is also defending him.
Could Mel's story have really been so convincing to her?

The Palmon crossed her arms, smirking as she shook her head.
"Sure, discover the vanilla is white. But I've confirmed from other Hylden the existence of Celeste, an invalid twin of Mel. I'm further submerged in this plot than you perceive."
With that, Vetina walked off for the time being.
2 Days passed, and work began on the device with no issues. All the while Tab, Vetina, and Cuttah made sure that everyone else wsa well fed and able to work. Eventually, beginning on the third day of production, Burst had called a meeting.
"Alright, folks, we've been doing a great job so far, but we still have a long way to go. How long? Well, that is why we're here today. Lezard has calculated that, at our current pace, offering some leeway for potential minor delays, and giving enough time to test parts adequately, I would say that we would be finished in no more than 5 or 6 days. "

"Really? It's going to take that long." Crystal said a little shocked from the news. She knew it was going to take a while, but she didn't think it would take them this long.
"Well what did you think. We're opening a hole into a completely different world from scratch. It's not exactly an easy task. The one I made before took me at least a month to not only get all the parts together, but also build. And that portal was merely meant to punch a hole only for a few seconds. Getting this one to remain much more stable is going to prove quite the challenge. And that's not including the transfer device we'll need to put Celeste in her new body and some type of targeting system so we can at least end up somewhere nearby where I stashed her." Mel explained, "5 or 6 days is honestly the best we can hope for right now. Especially seeing how little time she'll probably has left."

"Yeah, Mel's rahght, hon. With all of us, spending a week making a portal that can allow travel to and from a specific point in what is essentially another world is, not to brag, nothing short of amazing.
And that includes cahlibrating the thing and the fact that this one is larger than the one Mel built, hon.
Be patient. We're going as fast as we can without doing a botch job. A bad portal can send you in a wrong spot, into the ground, or just tear your data apart."
"And if that happens, well, that would be counter-productive to what we're making these things for, anyway.
Of course, there is also the issue of where we're going to put Celeste while Tab's egg develops, which is the secondary reason why we're having this meeting. You see... we have a volunteer...maybe not the most ideal of volunteers but we're not in a position to be picky."
Lezard pointed to Cuttah, eating a sandwich as she sat far away from the others.

Mel looked over at Cuttah as he was informed that she'll be his sisters volunteer body for the duration that Tab needs to finish. He had to admit that she wasn't the most ideal candidate for this sort of thing, but it's better then just letting his sister die. Hopefully Celeste won't be awake for most of the duration that she has to stay.
"Well then. At least we got that part taken care of. I was beginning to worry that we wouldn't find someone in time." Mel stated.
Crystal looked over at Cuttah as well before asking, "If you don't mind me asking, why did you decide to volunteer your body for something like... This?" Surprisingly enough, there was only avid curiosity in her voice as she honestly just wanted to know what Cuttah's thought process for a decision like this. Especially considering the risks.
