The previous day was a rather long and tiring one, L.J and DemiMeramon almost instantly crashing into bed when they had arrived back at the dorms, of course, not until after DemiMeramon had something to eat. They were lucky yet again, the other members of STAR-X were already in their own beds asleep and it meant that there was no need to hide his new Digimon friend. L.J shot up right in bed, eyes wide open, hair a mess and the tiniest speckle of dry drool on the left side of his lower lip. The alarm beside his bed was ringing outrageously loud and although it would be natural instinct to reach over and turn the god forsaken thing off, L.J was still in shock and half awake. "WE'RE UNDER ATTACK!!!" DemiMeramon cried out, a fearful expression on his face after being awoken so suddenly. Rolling his eyes closed, L.J reached over and tapped the alarm clock, groaning as it took a lot of effort to do so. “No we’re not. It is my alarm clock, to wake me up.” The alarm instantly shut off at the touch of L.J’s hand and slowly lowered his head back down onto his pillow. “Why in the world would you want to wake yourself up? Are you sure it isn’t an evil Digimon about to attack?” DemiMeramon slowly lowered his own body, taking perch on L.J’s opposite pillow. “It isn’t.” L.J continued to lay there as he slowly began to fall back to sleep when a strange thought entered his mind. I don’t remember setting my alarm…L.J opened his eyes and rolled over, looking at the alarm clock to 04:00am in bold red and a small yellow sticky note attached to the side of it. The light from the alarm clock illuminated the room enough for him to not worry about turning a light on and reached over to pluck the stick note off the clock. Holding the note between his thumb and index finger, he read the note and instantly jumped out of bed. 우리는 5시에 연습 을 가지고 있기 때문에 우리는 늦게 하지 말고 , 당신의 알람을 설정합니다. (We set your alarm because we have practice at 5, don’t be late) L.J frantically ran across his room and practically ripped open the doors to his wardrobe. “DemiMeramon, wake up!” As he reached inside he could hear the moans and groans of his Digimon partner as he struggled to do so. “What’s going on?” L.J pulled out a black singlet and grey jeans and hurled them across the room and onto the end of his bed, missing DemiMeramon just by a few inches. “I have a practice session I didn’t know about and I am sorry but I don’t trust you to stay here on your own.” Reaching down to the floor of the wardrobe, L.J came back out with a pair of red and white high-kicks and began carrying them over to the bed after kick the doors of his cupboard shut with the heel of his foot. He dropped his shoes at the end of his bed and then began undressing himself, making sure to leave his underwear on as he stood there in front of his partner. “Do I at least get to eat something?” The fiery Digimon asked as he looked up at his Tamer with hope in his eyes. L.J had one leg through his pants and was now hopping, trying to put the other in as well. “Only if you can keep yourself hidden, we can’t have people seeing you.” DemiMeramon had to think about it for a moment, looking up to the ceiling as if that was where his thought processing was. “Make it something sweet and you have yourself a deal.” L.J had both legs through his pants, one arm and his head through his singlet, the other still open but before placing his arm through it, held out a pinkie finger which DemiMeramon took hold of, the both of them saying: “Deal!” The little Digimon zipped up from his position and grabbed hold of L.J’s singlet, holding it open for him to push his other arm through. From there, L.J placed both feet into his shoes and at the same time zipped and buttoned up his pants before darting to the door and like previously, ripped it open, quickly turning back to his cupboard and bulling out his bag which he opened to allow DemiMeramon to fly into. The little Digimon hid inside, keeping a little hole open where the flap was so that he could peer out. L.J ran past the kitchen and picked up a piece of bread and a muesli bar, quickly stuffing it in his bag as he opened the front door and slammed it behind him. “For now, the sweet stuff will come later.” Although it couldn’t be seen at the time, DemiMeramon’s face lit up at the site of food now in the bag with him. To a normal person, the food was pretty much mediocre but to DemiMeramon it was gourmet. L.J ran down the main corridor, passing all the other apartments that were within his building and approached the elevator, pressing the button for it to come to his level and stepping inside. It wasn’t like he had to travel a long distance, considering his apartment was in the same building as the companies. Looking at the buttons by the door, he quickly pressed the level 8 floor and proceeded to ride it down. Level 8 was basically the practice rooms, any form of music instrument that need to be practiced, vocal training and even dance practice were all held on this floor in one of the five large rooms. Stepping off the elevator, L.J was looking at his feet to begin with but when he raised his head, he saw the other four members of STAR-X standing and waiting at the main doors to the dance room. “Looks like I made it.“ He stated in a firm tone, unemotional as usual. One of the other members lightly smiled while the other three simply scoffed and turned back to the door, waiting for the room to become available.

“Is there another group in there?” L.J asked. Although it was rare for this kind of the morning, the company had several artists and groups that required the practice rooms so as a result, a schedule was established to stop any arguments and also to make sure that each performer got the necessary amount of practice required. The kinder member of the group nodded lightly, inspecting L.J as if he was hiding something and this made him feel a little awkward, casually looking down at his bag just to make sure that DemiMeramon wasn’t visible, he wasn’t.
A further ten minutes went by the doors were still locked, no one had come to unlock the doors yet so the entire group were standing out the front of the room rather awkwardly. This is probably the longest L.J had spent with any of the members since the incident, excluding of interviews and performances of course. One of the members, frustrated, stepped away from the doors and scratched the back of his head. “I’m going to go find the agent, I am sick of standing out here like a sore thumb.” With that said, they all decided to head for the elevator, only to turn back at the last minute to look at L.J with a curious look on their faces. “I-I think I will just wait here, just in case the agent shows up before you find him.” It was clear that he was hesitant in saying this but he didn’t want to be around the members as much as they didn’t want to be around him.
Once they all climbed into the elevator they took it to their destination. As soon as he saw the elevator leave the level, L.J immediately dropped the bag to the floor and opened the flap to see DemiMeramon inside, a piece of muesli stuck to the side of his face. “It can’t be comfortable in there…” The fiery Digimon levitated out of the bag, shaking itself off a bit before looking at L.J crankily. “When was the last time you cleaned that bag out?” L.J had to think about the question for a moment before answering. “Well I don’t think I have used that bag since I was 12 years old, so about five years.” DemiMeramon’s eyes widened and his jaw dropped, if he were a cartoon, his jaw would have likely dropped all the way to the floor.

Just then, a sudden crashing sound could be heard coming from the other side of the doors and both L.J and DemiMeramon’s attention shot up to face the door. “Did you just hear that?” L.J asked, curiosity in his voice as he slowly climbed back to his feet, not taking his eyes off the door. DemiMeramon simply nodded and levitated up, following his Tamer. “Someone is in there.” He stated, his body beginning to shake a little from nervousness. From there, L.J slowly reached out with his left hand, extending it to the door handle when his Digimon quickly zipped in front of his hand. “Are you crazy?” He asked with a somewhat frustrated look upon his face. Slightly shocked, he looked at his Digimon with a confused expression written across his face. “What?” Rolling his eyes, DemiMeramon flew up closer to his Tamer so that they were both at eye level. “What if that is a Digimon in there? I am not exactly fighting fit at the moment… I am only at the In-Training level.” L.J scoffed a little as he smirked at his Digimon. “Not every sound you hear is a Digimon.” He was referring to the alarm that woke them up less than an hour ago.
Pushing DemiMeramon aside softly with his shoulder, L.J proceeded forward, taking the handle of one of the doors within his grasp and pulled down on it. At first, it felt like the door was locked like his previous members had mentioned, but when he pulled down a little tighter, the door clicked and L.J was now able to pull it open just a crack. “It looks like the door was just jammed.” He said, turning to his Digimon with a stern expression. “Incompetent as always.” Referring to his fellow members. From there, L.J pulled the door wide open, DemiMeramon gulping several times before peering in alongside his Tamer. It was pitch black in the room, the only form of light coming from the hallway they were standing in which gleamed on the nearby mirrors, but not enough to light up the entire room. “Maybe there isn’t anyone in here?” He said, not taking notice of the strong breeze that was flurrying through the room.

“How about we just turn the light on and get you back into my bag before the others come back. I do need some practice and I am up anyways.” L.J said, stepping into the pitch black room and reaching for the light switch to his left on the wall. “L.J, wait!” Although he wasn’t 100% sure, DemiMeramon could smell something odd within the room, but it was too late. L.J had flicked the switch and all the lights within the room turned on, causing the room to become clear as a picture. “Oh no…” DemiMeramon exclaimed as L.J turned around to see a strange figure towards the back of the room, sitting on the floor and staring directly at them as if they had just walked in on something completely personal. Behind the creature, one of the windows was broken, shards of glass lying all around the culprit.
“DemiMeramon, what is that thing?” L.J asked with slight fear within his voice. The creature slowly rose to its feet and pulled out from behind it a large wooden club with screws in it, as if the object was pulled out of nowhere. “That would be a Digimon.” DemiMeramon stated, turning to his Tamer with an expression that could only read one thing… You’re an idiot.
L.J backed up slowly until he could feel the wall behind him, not once taking his eyes off the Digimon and unable to say a single word. “Are you happy now?” DemiMeramon asked as he zipped up to be beside L.J’s head. “No, no one ever listens to DemiMeramon, ‘not every sound you hear is a Digimon’ he says. Are we now understanding that we should listen to DemiMeramon more often? Hmmm?” DemiMeramon said in a sarcastic tone and although still frightened, L.J turned to his Digimon, rolling his eyes but the look on his face was clear, he was literally scared. This was the first time that they had ever come across a wild Digimon, the only other ones they had met were those of Yui’s and Shi’s. It was because of this look that DemiMeramon quickly jumped into action, kind of… It was more of a ‘float into action’.
DemiMeramon flew forward a little and maneuvered himself so that he was now floating in front of L.J. “Just a little suggestion, but if you get your Digivice out, you can scan the Digimon to find out information on it.” Acknowledging this with a shaky nod, L.J reached into his left pocked of his pants and pulled out his orange, black and gold Digivice, holding it forward towards the wild Digimon, hearing it beep a few times before pulling it back to him and looking down at the screen. At this time, the wild Digimon had already began its move, slowly stepping forward and on guard while DemiMeramon continued to float in his position. “Goblimon, it’s a Rookie. Its attacks are… Goburi Bomb and Goblin Strike.”

Taking note of the information that L.J had provided from his Digivice, DemiMeramon took in a deep breath and aimed at the Goblimon who was now only a few feet away. “Flame Shot!” He called out, releasing a small fireball that hit the Goblimon in the left shoulder. Though, it did little to no damage. The fireball just seemed to disappear on impact and the wild Digimon didn’t even flinch. “You call that an attack?” L.J asked, realizing that this was the first time he had actually seen DemiMeramon attack something. It did look somewhat cool, up to the point when it did absolutely nothing to the enemy Digimon. “Flame Shot!” DemiMeramon called again, firing another fireball, then another and then another. The first two fireballs failed again, the first hitting the tip of the Digimon’s club and the second one hit the chest, but it was the third that actually did something. The fireball only just skimmed the top of the Goblimon’s head, igniting it’s Mohawk which turned it charcoal black. “Well that seemed like it did something?” L.J said with a bit of surprise in his voice, taking note of the fact that the enemy Digimon had stopped walking towards them.
The Goblimon looked up at its head, not that it could see anything and then looked back at DemiMeramon and L.J. The Digimon’s eyes turned completely red, veins began to form on its face as steam also began to produce from its ears, a clear indication that this Digimon was now pissed off. A little more frightened than before, L.J looked down at his Digivice and noticed that there was some additional information on the enemy. Pressing a button and then holding the Digivice close to his face so he could see what it said, he read out loud. “Goblimon takes great pride in its Mohawk. Oh no.” The Goblimon instantly started running towards them, the club it wielded was drawn back, ready to swing at any moment. It was DemiMeramon who noticed the situation turning bad when the Goblimon was right upon them, DemiMeramon dived in front of L.J to take the full brunt of the Digimon’s club, sending him hurling across the other side of the room, almost lifeless on the floor by the mirrors. “DEMIMERAMON!!!”

The Goblimon was standing directly in front of L.J, glaring up at him considering he was significantly shorter than him, but that was beside the point. The Digimon was incredibly angry, grinding its teeth as it drew the club back again, ready to strike at him. L.J was shaking, he had no idea what to do and when he looked over at his Digimon partner, all he could tell was that DemiMeramon was hurt and likely in a lot of pain… all because of him. If he had just listened and didn’t open the door, someone else could have dealt with this situation and the two of them would be perfectly fine. “R-run.” DemiMeramon’s voice was barely auditable, his eyes only opened to a slit so that he could see what was going on, but he couldn’t move, he was numb and his Tamer was now in trouble as well.
L.J turned back from his partner and faced the enemy in front of him, his expression changing to that of anger and a little bit of superiority. “Back off!” He demanded, his voice very firm and serious. “You are the first Digimon I have met who didn’t have a partner and frankly I am already sick and tired of you. I never asked to be a Tamer, I never asked to have a Digimon partner either but here I am, standing here, facing down a green monster who is trying too hard to be like Shrek!” The Goblimon flinched for a second, a little surprised at L.J’s reaction but that was it, he wasn’t scared, just surprised and proceeded with his move. “I am going to make something very clear here so listen carefully because I am only going to say this once.” L.J took a step forward so that the two of them were only a few inches apart. He glared down at the Goblimon with a cold stare that would normally send chills down someone’s spine. “Although DemiMeramon and I only met a few days ago, he is the only one I feel like can talk to. Something I haven’t experienced in a very long time and if you think I am going to allow some green midget to ruin everything for me, you can forget it!” L.J turned to DemiMeramon, taking his eyes completely off of Goblimon, but it could be seen in not only his eyes, but L.J’s expression that his next few words were sincere, even if rushed. “DemiMeramon, I am sorry that we didn’t really get to know each, or more importantly I am sorry that I didn’t make the effort to get to know you better. Thank you for being my partner but at this point. I think it is over. Thanks friend.”
The Goblimon grew bored of the current situation and swung his club sideways, smacking L.J across the face and hurling him across the room in the opposite direction. At the other side of the room, DemiMeramon’s eyes shot open at the site of his Tamer being hit and something inside him clicked. He was able to move again, although somewhat sluggish and gradually levitated back up into the air.

L.J hit the ground hard as he skidded across the floor, only stopped by the wall at the opposite end in which DemiMeramon was located. He was still conscious but damn that club hurt, he was lucky that it was only the wood that hit him and that the screws that were within the club hadn’t. “Ouch, ouch, ouch, ouch, ouch.” He repeated, reaching up and taking hold of his jaw which felt a little bit out of place. It was at this moment that L.J noticed that DemiMeramon was now in the air, though something seemed odd. “ Demi-?” He said softly, the words not completely coming out after having the wind kicked out of him. DemiMeramon was staring directly at Goblimon, but the evil Digimon didn’t seem to notice, it was already making its way over to L.J who was still lying on the ground. He attempted to get up a few times but hitting the ground so hard made this difficult. “Hey!” DemiMeramon cried out, but the Digimon continued to keep walking towards his Tamer. “Fireball!” He called out, releasing a flame from his hands that connected with the back of Goblimon’s head which still had no effect. DemiMeramon fired off several more attacks at the Goblimon’s back but it did not turn nor stop once until it was now upon L.J, club raised again and swinging downward to collide with L.J’s head. Concerned about his friend, DemiMeramon shot forward as fast as he could, but it was just at the last minute, a bright light erupted from the Digivice that was still in L.J’s hand. The Goblimon stopped its attack, unable to see L.J with the bright light in its face, the same bright light engulfing DemiMeramon in an egg-shaped light. “DEMIMERAMON DIGIVOLVE TO…” The Goblimon shook its head and brought it back up again, only to swing it back down again, blindly swinging in hopes of hitting the Tamer’s head. “FLAMEMON!!!”
Flamemon appeared standing over L.J, his right hand held out with a strong grasp on the end of Goblimon’s club. L.J looked up at his Digimon who had now changed form with utter astonishment, sure, he did see Mokumon become DemiMeramon but this next form was so much cooler. “D-DemiMeramon?” The new Digimon smirked lightly and flicked around on one foot, still holding onto Goblimon’s club and bringing his leg up to kick the enemy Digimon in the stomach, sending it back several meters with its skidding feet stopping it. He then knelt down beside L.J, placing a hand under his head and the other on his upper arm, helping him up into a seating position against the wall. “You can call me Flamemon.” He grinned.
L.J smirked in return and held out his Digivice just as Flamemon stood back up and took a fighting stance. His Digivice registered the data on his friend’s new form but there was no need to read it out loud, it was likely that this Digimon already knew the information on itself. “H-How?” L.J asked, still astonished with the turn of events. Flamemon stood there glaring at the Goblimon with a serious expression on his face, but still answered with a somewhat calm tone. “You were in trouble, so I Digivolved in order to protect you. It is what you would do for me, right?” L.J smiled. “I don’t know if I can Digivolve, but I will definitely try and protect you.” This was the moment, the moment that L.J and his Digimon finally bonded.

Goblimon came charging in with his club in the air, expecting to get the jump on them while they were conversing, but Flamemon didn’t even take his eyes off of him the whole time and pushed off the ground, darting forward until he reached Goblimon halfway, taking hold of the enemy’s hand which was holding the club. Forcing Goblimon’s hand, Flamemon began making the enemy hit itself over the head numerous times. “Why are you hitting yourself? Why are you hitting yourself? Why are you hitting yourself?” He asked repeatedly with each hit. L.J who was starting to feel a little better, started to climb to his feet using the wall as a support and watched the scene unfold, a little embarrassed because Flamemon’s entrance was so cool, yet his actions right now we so ridiculously silly.
The Goblimon pulled back on its arm and freed it from Flamemon’s grasp, swinging wide in order to whack Flamemon in the side of the stomach, in the ribs, but he was already prepared and back flipped over it. L.J couldn’t help but jolt a little bit in surprise to see how acrobatic Flamemon was, considering how big his hands and feet were, he would have thought that they would slow him down. “Strike one!” Flamemon said after flipping backwards over the first swing. The Goblimon, immediately after missing swung the club back again and Flamemon placed a single hand on top of it, pushing down on it as a kind of lift to help him skim over it. “Strike two!” Missing again, Goblimon stamped its feet and threw the club at Flamemon who instantly bent backwards so that his feet were still on the ground but he was bent so far backwards that his head almost touched the floor. “Strike three, your out!” Flamemon called, flicking himself so he was now in the upright position before pushing off the ground and leaping into the air. “Flame Tail!” A bright flame engulfed his tail just as he flipped forward, bringing the fiery tail down upon Goblimon’s head, the force of the attack causing him to trip forward under the pressure and sending his head smacking face down into the floor, a huge crack could be heard but it was unclear whether it was from Flamemon’s tail hitting Goblimon or Goblimon’s facing breaking the floorboards.
“Nice!” L.J exclaimed as his first attempt at a cheer.

Still braced against the wall, L.J smiled towards Flamemon’s back who was standing over Goblimon, looking down at it. “You won!” But Flamemon didn’t say anything, instead he just lightly shook his head and slowly took two steps back towards L.J’s position and with that, Goblimon pushed up off the ground to land on his feet while rubbing his face where it had collided with the floorboards. L.J couldn’t help but flinch at the sudden movement of the enemy and started to feel a little concerned again, he actually thought that the Digimon had been defeated but clearly it hadn’t been. After rubbing its face, Goblimon began looking around franticly looking for its club which was only a foot or two away from L.J, lying on the floor. Spotting it, the Digimon began making his way over to it, ignoring Flamemon who was simply just standing there.
“And where do you think you are going?” Flamemon asked, grabbing hold of the back of Goblimon’s shirt vest and dragging him backwards. “Play time isn’t over just yet.” Pulling hard and releasing, Goblimon fell to its rear with a thud while Flamemon continued to stand there, glaring at him while L.J watched on from the distance. Frustrated, Goblimon jumped back up onto its feet and ran at Flamemon with a clenched fist and just as it would swing, Flamemon ducked down with a fiery aura forming around him. “Noble Heart!” He called out, pushing his body forward which released a burst of flame upon the enemy Digimon, engulfing it. L.J continued to watch on in aw, his mouth wide open as the goblin Digimon burst into millions of squares into the air. Flamemon, extended his arms and legs outwards, drawing in the squares until they were absorbed into his own body. This, this was something that actually frightened L.J, his open mouth closed and a look of dread formed across his face. Flamemon turned back to his partner now that all the squares were absorbed and smiled. “Well, that was an interesting first battle.” When he had faced L.J, he could see the look of horror on his face and Flamemon was a little confused. “W-what? W-what did you do?” The same look of horror was in his voice as Flamemon stepped forward towards L.J, but L.J attempted to step back, only to be stopped by the wall he was against. “Y-you killed it.” The expression that developed on Flamemon’s face was one of hurt, he knew exactly what L.J was thinking and immediately shaking his head. “No L.J, it isn’t like tha-“ “Do all Digimon kill?” He interrupted.
Just at that moment, the elevator could be heard on the rise and the two of them turned in the direction. L.J immediately started making his way to the door and Flamemon reached out to him, but L.J just shrugged it away. With this action, hurt and unable to explain everything to L.J, Flamemon ran to the broken window and up-flipped by grabbing the outside of the window, scaling the side of the building. L.J looked back just in time to see Flamemon exiting through the window, but now wasn’t the time to go after him and instead turned the room lights off, exited through the doors and closed them behind him, making sure to lock it to make it seem like he was never in there.
