"You do realize that proper pirates spend most of their time on, in or near the water right Luce'?" Ren watched Magnamon climb up into the bell, allowing him to settle himself before following up. Grasping the rope netting above his head with one hand, he turned to reach down and offer his free hand to Dianne to help her up. "Watch your step up," he warned her warmly. "It's going to be cold going down." They got themselves settled into the bell, and with a lurch Datamon had it swinging out over the ocean. He called for one last ready check, and the diving bell slowly began its descent into the waves.
Situated as they were on the interior ledge of the bell, air pressure kept the water just a little below their knees. It wasn't warm exactly, but it wasn't nearly as cold as Ren had been expecting. The light faded gradually, until the sea was mostly lit by the lamps ringing the diving bell. Outside the viewports it was a deep, dark blue with the occasional fish or small digimon swimming by. As they sank lower, even those became rarer.. The interior wasn't exactly made for comfort, and stuffed in as they were it was kind of an awkward ride. In the moments of silence, Ren's breathing and every movement seemed to echo loudly in the bell. He could hardly keep the grin off his face, curious as he was to see what awaited them.

"Pirates?"
She thought inside her mind. She was totally sure they were just a group of adventurers, treasure hunters looking for a treasure of great importance, so the idea of the magnamon and the human being pirates was just plain silly. Probably they were just using codenames she believed, after all her image of pirates were of ruthless guys who wore bandannas, wielded swords, had peglegs and stinked and attacked the ships of innocent sailors, and those two guys didn't look like the pirates of her fairy tales at all.
"Thanks"
Nevermind, she had to abandon those silly ideas and focus in her task, so she accepted Ren's hand and went inside the diving bell. A few last second preparations later and they were already going underwater. Just as Ren said, it felt slightly colder than in the ship inside the diving bell, and it didn't help that she had water up almost to the knees. While the human seemed to be super excited about the idea of finding treasure, the magnamon looked kinda grumpy at first back when they went in, so she decided to leave him alone and instead focus in gazing at the sea. There was a wide variety of fishes and aquatic digimon, and they become stranger and less cute the further they went below, maybe the lack of light affected their evolution in ugly ways she thought. And so she stayed quietly gazing in awe at the wonders of nature while the bell descended

Magnamon...closes his eyes. He's no real need to see any of this. Ren Campbell can tell him if, and when he's needed for anything. "I realize that, but unless you're planning to buy a submarine, we won't be under it in a tiny, cramped pod, kid,"
He's seen water before. It's all basically the same. Annoying, mostly. Still. He's not sure he could deal with being on the ocean all the time. Not yet. He'll get there eventually, no doubt. Hm. Maybe he could find another Digimental, like the ones he already has. Something that would let him change into a form more suitable for water...
...Angelfish. Heheh.

The bell stopped lowering with a lurch and a low, dull gong sound that reverberated in the chamber for a moment. Outside the portholes they could see an alien seabed stretch out beyond their little circle of light. The water was fairly clear, obscured with tall, waving strands of the seaweed that littered the region. Nothing moved in the water outside except the plants swaying with the currents. It was indeed close and claustrophobic, and every little sound echoed around the bell with soft reverb. Taking a breath, Ren slipped into the cool water and dove under, squinting against the water as he brazed a quick look around.
Popping back up into the diving bell's air pocket, Ren grinned as water dripped from his features. "I think I see something. I'm going to look. Execute: Sprite Evolution," he activated the scanner on his D-tector, treading water as he lifted his free hand to expose the fragment of code exposed on his palm. Bringing the two together, he was surrounded briefly in a cocoon of glowing digicode that lit the bell in shades of blue and white. When the cocoon vanished, a small claw reached out to snag the edge of the bench they sat on. Crabmon peered at them from the water. "Stay right here guys," he burbled before releasing his grip and dropping out of sight.
It was maybe ten minutes before Crabmon broke the surface of the water, reaching out to snag a claw on the bench and secure his position. His eyes sparkled with excitement. "The coordinates and my D-tector were spot on. There's a ship below us. If you dive more or less straight down, you'll see a hatch set in the deck. Well, it's just a hole now. Swim inside and follow the angle of the roof, which is the deck above you, up. The back third or so of the interior is airtight and breathable. I'll follow you both back to make sure you find it."

At least, the diving bell reached its destination. Unlike the beauty of the journey, the end of the road was void of intelligent life, only seaweed, coral and strange creatures attached to the seabed lying there. Probably they were so deep underwater that all life that relied in the sunlight was long gone several meters above them.
While the situation underwater was a sad one, the human was ever the optimistic and in fact was glad that they were that deep. And then ... he turned into a digimon? The Sistermon totally thought he was partnered with the armored lizard, but it looked like he was one of those so called spirit warriors. Oh well, nothing too shocking really, digimon all the time changed forms from humanoid forms to strange, alien forms all the time, and he become a cute digimon even, a little crab. The human then left Dianne and Magnamon alone and those minutes together were kinda awkward, what with being in complete silence as their "leader" was pretty much the soul of the party.
"I hope he doesn't take too long outside"
She said to nobody in particular, she just wanted to break the silence while they waited. And fortunately, they didn't have to wait very much as the now crabmon human returned, and with great news!
"That's great!" she paused "Do we have diving gear here? Or we will have to go as we are? Just wondering because we aren't marine digimon and might be a bit slower than you"

Magnamon shakes his head, "There's no diving gear. I should be able to use my flight powers to maneuver well enough underwater, so stay close, or hold on, kid," He drops into the water and shudders. How...unpleasant. He's discovered he doesn't like being wet though, so. That's something.
His golden plates continue to provide some light as he descends through the water. His flight powers do still work somewhat, although...everything feels sluggish. Yeah. He hates this. Ugh. Ren owes him big time. He resists the urge to panic and thrash, sliding into the ship's interior, and quickly climbing to a breathable zone.
"Yggdrasil dammit..."

"It's just a little water, Magnamon. We'll be fine." Crabmon skittered out of the water onto the sharp slant of the floor of the ship's cargo hold. He was wrapped in a bright cocoon of digicode, reformatting his body and revealing Ren once again. He kept his D-tector out for the meager light it provided; between it and Magnamon's armor there was enough dim lighting to see their little chamber. They were in the aft portion of the ship's hold; the back wall could have almost been a ceiling. There was a door there that interested Ren, but it was too steep for him to reach on his own.
"Luce', can you help me up to that door there in the back? It looks like more cargo space." Magnamon complied, floating over to grasp Ren by the waist and lifting him up to the door. Ren got his free hand on the handle and shoved the door opward, grunting when Magnamon unceremoniously tossed him in. "Well, it works," he muttered to himself, brushing himself off as he scrambled to his feet. He raised his D-tector to shed a little light on the- oh. Oh.
"Luce', Dianne... you should come up here." They'd found it. Multiple crates and chests were scattered around the small hold, most of them open or broken and showing glimpses of brightly colored or metallic contents. And the arrow on his D-tector's screen was pointed right at... that one.

Well, that was disappointing. She thought that a ship used for retrieving sunken treasures would have everything to make treasure hunting as painless as possible, yet its diving bell lacked of diving gear, and she totally didn't see any aquatic digimon within the captain's crew. Oh well, fortunately the ship wasn't too far, so it was more than possible to just hold the breath for long enough to reach the safe area.
Because the magnamon was huge and therefore that meant he had huge guts and huge lungs and kicking power, she clinged to his left shoulder guard and simply let him take her to the desired location. Just a few moments later, they were inside the ship and indeed, there was a breathable area inside. She looked around and it looked like that ship spent quite a long time underwater, at least it was made of good materials and it looked solid enough to withstand the harshest of water currents and one could kick its walls and (hopefully) not break anything.
Ever the intrepid guy and looking to details, the human was quick to find a door in the "ceiling" and with the help of the magnamon, managed to open and reach, and judging by what he said as soon he got inside, it seemed like he hit the jackpot.
"Did you find the treasure?"
She said to herself and immediately started to climb the "wall" using her trident and small holes time, lack of maintenance and whatever wrecked it in first place caused. And behold the treasure! Lots of shiny things leaked from the crates and chests, maybe valuable enough to gets a pretty penny for them!
"Shall we open and see what they have?"
She asked, unaware if riches was what they were looking for, or if they had something more important to find between all those potential treasures.

[Posting order skipped on agreement from Lucemon. Post order resumes from here.]
"I think maybe I did," Ren said absently, gaze glued to his D-tector as he moved carefully through the displaced rubble and cargo. "Go ahead and look around. Might as well get something out of the visit." He continued to look through, picking through crates seemingly at random. The trio of treasure hunters had a solid ten minutes of looking through the myriad wonders of the sunken ship, but Ren had eyes for only one. After turning over one particularly decrepit crate he caught something, a corner of something fabric-like poking out from under a beam. He reached for it, and recoiled sharply as his D-tector began emitting a dial-tone screech. A bright shaft of light burst from the screen, revealing the little physical model of Ren's Hookmon spirit- the stand holding the hook and flintlock. The item under the beam shifted and shot out with a streak of matching light, connecting to the Spirit floating before him. A tricorn hat and coat draped the weapons, the shadow of which concealed a single sparkling blue eye... "Execute: Spirit Evolution," ribbons of digicode burst from his D-tector and wrapped around his body in a shifting cocoon or electric blue light. His form shifted, growing a little taller, leaner with muscle. He was draped in a black pirate's coat with an agumon-skull jolly roger adorning the back and a tricorn hat with matching emblem that shaded his face. His right eye was covered in a thick patch and his face held numerous scars as well. At his waist hung a cross between a rapier and a pistol; his right leg vanished below the knee, to be replaced with a prosthetic complete with gun barrel and cylinder. "CaptainHookmon!" He turned to face his companions, offering a manic grin Ren himself couldn't hope to match even if CaptainHookmon didn't have the pointed shark teeth. "I be thinkin' I found what I was lookin for me hearties," he said with a cackle. "And I be bloody pleased. Have ye found yourselves some booty?" The conversation was cut off by a sudden loud, metallic gong that reverberated once through the ship, CaptainHookmon immediately step-thumped on the uneven deck to the nearest port hole, looked out and swore quite colorfully. Maybe it was one of his powers. "The blasted chain's broken. Diving bell's sittin' on the seabed. And there's... seaweed pullin' on the chain?" Sure enough, a look outside the portholes would confirm the diving bell had fallen to the sea floor next to them. Seaweed had wrapped around the remaining chain, pulling it sharply to the side into their view. Presumably this had caused to the bell to fall in their sight, but what would have broken the chain? "Sure, leader!"
She said to the human, joyful that they finally found lots of crates and chests with potential treasure. She carefully looked through them one by one and what she found went from exquisite portraits that would fit well in a museum but that would get ruined if she took them to the water to things like actual gold, some furniture, broken holosuit devices, and jewels.
There was just too many interestings things to take, and all of them would fetch a pretty penny in the market of antiques, more than enough to fund for at least a few years the maintenance of her orphanage. Alas, she left her bag in the ship, her pockets weren't exactly big enough to carry big jewels and obviously the furniture and the portraits were out of question. At the end, she decided to pocket some gold coins and an old pocket watch that looked like it could still work if fixed.
She was looking around if there was something else small enough to add to her treasure, but then suddenly a screech resonated through the ship and next thing she saw was the treasure hunter changing once more into a digimon, not a crab this time but instead something very fitting for him: a mature looking captain digimon.
"You are looking pretty handsome there"
She smiled. And indeed, he now looking like a handsome and mature man of sea, truly a person who could conquer the seven digiseas if he tried it. Alas, their happiness was cut short when they heard a loud noise that Ren confirmed as being their diving bell, the chain broke and now lying in the bottom of the sea. The sistermon was worried, wondering how they would be able to return to the surface without it.

Magnamon watches the Sistermon as she calls Ren Campbell 'handsome'. Pfft. It's just a Digimon with a bunch of guns. There...yeah. A few trinkets. Nothing he wants though. He gives a shrug, not bothering to pick anything up as he turns to Ren, “There's nothing here I want, Kid,”
Lots of things are happening. Sound and...dammit, the diving bell. Magnamon sighs, “Yeah, yeah. Just get ready, kids. I'm betting we're about to come under attack,” He enters a battle-ready stance, despite still being in the ship. Firing off a Magna Blast would be a bad idea, but if anything gets in...well. He does have melee attacks, too.
“Well? What's your plan for ascent? Can't sit here while Yggdrasil-knows-what sneaks up on us, Kid,”

"Aye yer right Luce', let me think... let me think..." CaptainHookmon step-thumped around for the floor, pondering, searching himself. Suddenly, he had the answer. He pounded his gun-leg's heel on the wood twice, grinning with those too-sharp teeth. "Oh, aye. I got yer method," he said with a chuckle. "Hold on ta something." He moved to place one hand on the slanting wall that was the hold's actual floor, and learned close to speak to the wood. "Flying Dutchmon, wake yerself..."
A rippling ring of bright digicode spread from his fingers in an expanding circle to touch every piece of wood, every nail, every beam and rope left on the wreck. The entire hulk began to shudder and shake a little, dropping thin clouds of dust on them as it slowly began to shift, its angle changing until they had to move to be standing on the actual deck as it came level. The deck leveled, now scattered with the remaining treasure having fallen with the change in angle. The water around them began to rush past the portholes as the ship pulled from its place on the ocean's bottom and began to rise with increasing rapidity. They were heading for the surface.
No. They were there. Their ears popped with the sudden pressure change as the three-masted schooner suddenly burst from the ocean near where the Rusty Salvager was anchored. Muchomon scrambled on the deck around the crane for the diving bell; the chain was pulled taut, and the whole ship listed in that direction a good ten degrees. Something pulled on the chain.
CaptainHookmon burst out onto the deck from stairs at the opposite end of the cargo hold from their little treasure room; it was like he suddenly knew the entire layout. He spun around once, letting his sparkling blue eye take it all in. The Dutchmon was a three-masted schooner, fit for a reasonable-sized crew on ocean or river. The entire thing appeared to be made of ocean-polished driftwood, much of it battered, worn or tarnished from its time at the bottom. There were trails of seaweed everywhere, hanging from the yardarms and all over the deck.
"Arr, now that be more like it! But what be troubling the Salvager?"

"A battle while in the bottom of the ocean? Sounds fun"
Of course it wasn't fun, but with captainhookmon and magnamon on their side, whatever was pulling the diving bell had to be incredibly powerful to handle them. Nevermind, Ren seemed to have the solution to this and how to return to the surface's issues, and like magic, he made the sunken ship regain its former glory as it arise from the bottom of the ocean and ascended not too far from the other ship. Once they were in the surface again, she followed the captain outside and saw again the beauty of the sea and how magnificent this "dutchmon" was.
Alas, their joy was shortlived as ... whatever broke the chains of the diving bell was now trying to pull the salvage ship towards its watery grave. With trident in hand, Dianne readied for battle just in case the creature decided to show its ugly face

Magnamon grunts as they surface. "Of course you have a magic boat," Whaaaatever. He steps out onto the deck, levitating a few feet above it, just glad to be above the water again, where he belonged. And now they have a crazy ship. Of course they do. For their next trick, maybe they'll pull a Cherubimon out of a hat...
What in Yggdrasil's name is attacking the salvage ship? He's about to fly towards it when he suddenly degenerates into Lucemon. "Dammit!" He's able to stay in that form for longer and longer each time, but...that must be the limit. Still, that leaves him with another option. "Lucemon Digivolve to...Angemon!"

CaptainHookmon glanced sidelong at Luce' as his Magnamon form melted away into the young cherub, swiftly replaced by the more 'mature' form of Angemon. He was about to comment when the sound of metal straining echoed out over the water. There was a snap like a gunshot when the chain that had lowered the diving bell broke and the Rusty Salvager rocked back on its hull with a heavy, booming splash. The ocean between the two ships roiled and boiled, tossing the seaweed it around- "No, wait. Look there!" CaptainHookmon pointed with the long barrel of his rapier-shaped pistol at the water where the kelp seemed to be flowing against the waves, coming together in a mass and...
And rising. The waves swelled and broke as a massive, dark form rose from the depths between the Salvager and Dutchmon, collecting the kelp as it did so. It was a soft, rounded form like a slimy hill of seaweed studded with broken parts of half a dozen different shipwrecks. One great, almost shapeless arm broke the surface of the water, splintered masts poking from the stump like vicious claws. It brought the heavy paw down on the Salvager with a booming crash that rocked the ship and left a wide hole in its side. Listing badly, it was clear the Salvager was done for. In just a little shock, CaptainHookmon produced his D-tector. "Sargassumon," the device explained in its synthesized voice. "Ultimate-level Ancient Marine Digimon. Able to hide in the seas to trap prey by spreading the seaweed that makes up its body into a wide area. Very territorial."
"Now ye tell us," he grumbled. "Luce', can ye get to the stranded crew? The Dutchmon will come around to ye, and we'll try ta hold Sargassumon's attention." There was a lurch under their feet as the ship started to move, though its sails were just tattered threads and strings of dripping plant matter and no one was at the wheel. He whipped around, his coat flaring out dramatically behind him and revealing the bone-white agumon skull jolly roger on his back as he step-thumped towards the aft of the ship and the raised deck there.
The Sargassumon turned from the Salvager, eyeing the approaching Dutchmon with a malevolent gaze deep and shadowed behind a mask of rotted wooden hull. "Brine Bomber," it rumbled, opening a cavernous maw filled with broken wood and coral fangs and launching a volley of what looked like balls of seaweed and wood at them. At the top of their arc, these clumps of kelp unfolded into crude humanoid shapes, like plant-matter puppets with their strings cut. "BriNohemon. Rookie-level puppets controlled by Sargassumon to harass and overwhelm smaller opponents."
"Get down!" CaptainHookmon called, raising his cane, or sword, or pistol. Whatever it was. "Captain's Shot!" He fired a pair of shots from the end of the slender, long-barreled weapon at the falling enemies. The densified water rounds blasted two from the sky, but many more landed down onto the deck with a wet plop. And Sargassumon roared, a wet, sickly sound, and began to approach.
Yeah, this was going well.
[[No way for me to say this in character because Ren's never seen one. Sargassumon resembles a Raremon in shape, about the size of these ships and made of seaweed and broken shipwrecks.]]
