It was a busy day at the colosseum. It had been nearly deserted with the lack of tournaments and noticeable cancelling of scheduled ones. Now it was teeming with life again at the sound of a tournament, even if the competitors were limited to their Rookie forms. The pairings would be announced at any second now, and it was only a matter of time before it got under way.
Amsel was sitting on a bench, she was smiling and raring to go but her partner was a different story. Dorumon was pacing in front of her worried, his head was full of negative thoughts and what ifs. He didn't want to let his tamer down if they lost the first round. Amsel watched as her partner paced back and forth and frowned, she could feel his worries and nervousness come off him in waves. She didn't want him to feel like this tournaments are suppose to be fun, it was a chance to test ones skills, to see thier limits. It wasn't about winning or losing well to her anyway , she got up and put a hand on her partners shoulder "calm down doru, we can do it don't worry and so what if we lose its just as fun to lose as winning" she said with a huge grin on her face.
Doru stopped his pacing as soon as he felt his partners hand on his shoulder, he looked up at his tamer as she talked to him and relaxed he felt like some wieght was pulled off his shoulders. He smiled and nodded, he would try to relax before the battle his tamer had a point there was no use worrying over it. Amsel nodded and both her and her partner sat on the bench waiting patiently for the parings. Amsel couldn't help but wonder who else had signed up for the tournament
Lucemon arrives in an unremarkable fashion, simply walking through the Coliseum, trying to scope out the competition as it were. Usually he'd've arrived as an enormous bird, or perhaps a gold-armored warrior, but...no. Discretion might be a better idea, today. Why bother to show off like that now, anyway?
Save it for when he wins.
Although. Some of these opponents will be tough, no doubt. He's confident in his own power though, especially if everyone is limited to the Rookie Level, and such. Right. Stop daydreaming, Luce', start checking out the other Digimon here...
Amsel had decided to draw something after a few mins, she took out her sketchbook and pencils. It was her way of curing her boredom as they waited for the other competitors to arrive. Doru looked around wondering if they were in the right place, it wouldn't be the first time that his tamer had gone somewhere else then their originated destination she was really bad at directions. Dorumon's thoughts however were halted after he sensed a digimon near by, he turned and saw the lucemon walk in.
Dorumon had to guessed that this digimon was a solo since he didn't see a human with him, he hopped that this one was more nicer then lilith she really ruffled his fur the day they had met her. Amsel thought about what she could draw, she was tapping her pencil on her cheek debating what to draw. She looked up and spotted lucemon, at the moment she grinned and spoke up "Hallo! are you a competitor too?" she asked switching from her native tung to english man she really needed to stop doing that.
Dante arrives at the stadium pulling Wormmon in a red wagon. Dante walks forward slowly and keeps his head down. The wagon is all decorated with banners and streamers, with a large speaker blasting the song "London Bridge" www.youtube.com/watch?v=GXFB8_PAJlQ ~ Wormmon is wearing a crown made out of cardboard with a "W" drawn in crayon, and talking into a microphone. "Ladies and Gentlemen, introducing the star of the show! It's the amazing, incredible, and incredibly handsome, the mighty Wormmon! All you other Digis are just imitating! So best stay out of our way, before I drop a train on your butt!" Dante just sighs and continues pulling the wagon. "Well, I think they know we are here, little buddy."
Dante finds a spot to stop at. Wormmon continues talking trash, and striking poses. "Can't be stopped! Can't be topped! Ain't nobody drop it down like Big Dub! Right, Dante?" "Maybe you should save some of the showboating for when you actually win a battle." "Please, these guys look like they came from a day care center. Who's butt am I kicking first?" Dante gets out his phone and shows Wormmon a picture of KoKabuterimon. "Ha wah wah wah?! I'm fighting that thing? What kind of a tournament is this?! He's like 10 feet tall!" "I agreed to the elaborate entrance, but both of us are going to do the best we can out there." "Don't worry about it, Dante. None of these suckahs know what I can do." Little did Wormmon know, but Dante had a hidden agenda for entering the tournament.
Lopmon kept to the sidelines of the action, characteristically. He wandered the Coliseum looking on the many competitors with what appeared to be wide-eyed wonder, his ears draped around his shoulders like an austere, fuzzy monk's robe. How cute. He did not look like a fierce competitor. He didn't look like a competitor at all. Yet he had walked up, submitted himself at the desk. It was hard to say what reason he might have for entering; Lopmon sure wasn't. He watched curiously as a human came in pulling a wormmon in a wagon. They even had theme music playing. It was quite the display, though he found it somewhat... loud.
Chiyoko and Big Blue hovered at the fringes of the Colosseum for what felt like an eternity. Neither of them wanted to be the one to take the first step into the world of fighting Digimon. Big Blue knew it would be coming sooner or later. The myriad of fantastic powers they had access to made it a question of when, not if. Chiyoko was much less versed in the ways of the Digital World, but the title of "Xros General" had a certain martial feel to it that tipped her off as to her purpose here. They weren't a particularly bloodthirsty lot, but if they were going to journey they would need to learn how to take care of themselves.
Chiyoko held the flier advertising the tournament in her hand, the paper covered in pen scribbles and plannings. In a way, finding that paper was incredibly lucky of her. In a controlled environment like this, she and Big Blue wouldn't be in any real risk of harm. It would let them learn freely, have some fun, and maybe even make a few friends among the other competitors. It was still a tough sell for the KoKabuterimon, who fancied herself a bit of a pacifist. Bribing her with chocolate was a big help towards making her listen.
Prior to this was a week of work. Big Blue performed whatever exercises she and Chiyoko could think of, while the girl belted out encouragement with her hand-held microphone. Generally it devolved into them getting strange looks as the KoKabuterimon sprinted through the city's outskirts, occasionally taking a break to lift rocks. Nothing fancy, but just enough to keep the two motivated and at the top of their game. That was last week, however. Today was their chance to meet their opponents, and frankly it was more nerve-wracking than the prospect of the fights. Would these guys be intimidating? Friendly? Overcompetitive? Would any of them even be human?
There was no more time for worries. Chiyoko took a deep breath to calm herself and opened the door.
Naturally, the first thing to catch her eye was the worm king. He was cutting a wicked promo as the human accompanying him carried him forward on a red wagon. An entrance like that practically radiated confidence. It made Chiyoko realize all the more that she was just kind of out of place here. It didn't help matters that, per the bracket which lit up on her Xros Loader, the Wormmon was to be Big Blue's opponent. Were they going to be able to stack up against someone so self-assured, they seemed like they had already won?
Big Blue was the one to take the first step. She walked up to Wormmon, large arm extended for a handshake. "We're fighting," she said in a matter-of-fact manner. "Nice meeting you."
Dante plays with his phone while waiting for more entrants to gather. He didn't share Wormmon's optimism. Dante was no stranger to tournaments, having competed in both Taekwondo and Fencing. While Wormmon was running his sideways mouth trash talking, KoKabuterimon approached the self appointed king. Wormmon just stares up at KoKabuterimon. "Ya, um, about that battle. I believe you want the uh, super heavyweight division. Ya. This tournament is for rookies!" Dante looks down at his partner. "I'm pretty sure they qualify, Wormmon. Not all rookie Digimon are as small, or boisterous as you, Big Dub."
Wormmon puts down the microphone, and shakes KoKabuterimon's large hand with their tiny bug leg. "Well excuse me, I just thought we all deserved a fair fight. I mean look at this Digimon. They are big, but I bet they are slow. No offensive there, buddy. This guy is alright. It's all business, gnowatimsayin'?" "Wormmon and I look forward to our battle. Let's show everyone why insect Digimon reign supreme!" Dante was happy to be meeting some of the tamers and Digimon, but in the back of his mind he knew what was on the line. A loss in the first round could set a precedent for the rest of the tournament. "This is a big step for us, Wormmon. The time has come to see what we can do." Wormmon nods in agreement. "There can be only one, Dante!" "What did I tell you about quoting movies in public?" "Come on, Dante. You know that sounded cool." Dante sighs. "This is going to be a long tournament."
Zeki entered the coliseum he had joined for little reason other than the want to see other digimon than the ones he had seen before. He had little idea of where exactly to start and his question was shortly answered when he heard blaring music. "I suppose that's a good enough place to start than any." He said to himself and eagerly ran off towards the noise. He slowed to a stop as he watched what he could only describe as a small worm on a wagon which he assumed the human in front of him pulled around. The two looked like they talking to a much larger insect and he guessed it's tamer.
There were others such as a purple digimon talking to a little child with wings. Though if it was a costume or not Zeki couldn't tell. He saw another human who was drawing and a strange bunny digimon. He walked off to the side and leaned against a nearby wall to watch mainly the digimon.
"This way, Kai! This way!" The white Digimon bounded ahead, looking back every once in a while to make sure Kai was following. "Hurry up! We'll be late!" "Late to what?" Kai asked as he tried to keep up with the excited Digimon. "Oh it's... you know! Come on!" Shiro kept running off, far too excited to formulate a proper answer. Kai sighed and chased after him.
The two eventually came across a rather impressively large structure. Kuro had been left behind, which was weird. For some reason Shiro had wanted it to just be hium and Kai... And Kai didn't really want to wake her up. Was this a coliseum? It looked like one. What was it that Shiro wanted at a coliseum? "Come on, Kai! Open the door already!" The digimon was practically bouncing with excitement. Whatever was in there, Shiro really wanted it. Kai sighed and pushed the door in.
There were a lot of people and Digimon in here. Some were more familiar than others. He saw a Lopmon, and a Lucemon. Surely they weren't the Lopmon and Lucemon he had met before? That would be far too much of a coincidence. Oh, there was Chiyoko, the girl he'd met the other day. What a coincidence. But it looked like she was talking to someone, so he didn't bother her. He just stood there awkwardly, trying to figure out what Shiro had gotten him into this time.
"Listen up all of you! Because now that Shiro's here, this is as good as over!" the white Digimon boasted, with full confidence in his ability to beat each and every one of the Digimon here. Kai still had no clue what he was talking about.
"Greetings Kai and Shiro," Lopmon bowed his head to them as he approached. Oddly, he didn't seem to raise his voice much to be heard. He regarded Shiro's display patiently, his gaze wandering over the various competitors gathered. It had not gone unnoticed that Kai seemed a little... lost. "We gather here for a tournament of Rookie-level digimon. I was delighted to see my friend Shiro's name on the list. Perhaps we will meet in the ring, Shiro."
Lopmon seemed amused by the idea in the way you would be amused to play a board game with a friend. The concept this was combat didn't seem to register very deeply to him. He stood gazing out at Shiro and the other combatants with a sort of genial curiosity. He could have been watching children playing in a park.
Yui walked towards the colosseum, staring at it in awe as she stopped for a moment and took a deep breath. Was this a good idea? It was all in good fun but...what if Pop got hurt. She felt a hand on her cheek as Pop peeked at her from her shoulder. "Why are you nervous? I'm the one fighting. Besides I will be okay. It will be fun!" he said as he ginned at her as Yui sighed and nodded. "I know. I just care about you both, and I don't want you to get hurt." Yui said with a frown as Loli tapped her other cheek.
"Pop has a thick head. He will be fine." she said with a smile. "Hey! What does that mean?" Pop asked as he crossed his arms and puffed up his cheeks in defiance. "It um...means...your...skull is...stronger than normal?" Loli said with a slight chuckle. Pop gave her a questioning look. "Mm...well I am pretty tough so...fine." he said, shrugging it off as Yui sighed and stepped into the building.
"Oh! Oh! It's Kai Shiro and Kuro! HI! Oh wait...Kuro isn't there. Strange..oh well HI AGAIN!" shouted Pop as he lept off Yui and ran towards the trio. "Wait up Pop!" shouted Loli as she hopped off and ran after her brother. "Both of you cut it out!" shouted Yui as she also chased them. Pop stopped when he got close and stared at the fourth digimon there...another...lopmon? "Oooh, Hey Loli look!" he said as Loli stopped as well and cocked her head to the side. "Oh look at that. Hello." she said in a very polite manner. Yui stopped right behind them and smiled. "Hey Kai, Shiro. Who's your friend here? And where's your tamer?" she asked, directing the second part to the lopmon.
Amsel watched with wide eyes as if someone flicked a switch people and their digimon began to pour in, She looked at each person and their digimon wondering who they were going to fight. However her eyes were torn away from the lopmon to the little bug digimon that had made a flashy entrance. She rose a brow, the digimons trash talk made her smile because this meant that the digimon was confident and if the digimon was confidant then that would mean that he was strong. Which in turn made amsel more pumped then she already was.
Dorumon turned to his partner feeling the excitem coming off his tamer in waves. He sweat dropped usually her excitement was a good thing but during tournaments it only meant a lot of shouting from her part . He sighed and looked back at all the people that had arrived along with their digimon well except two. The lopmon had arrived alone doru had guessed that he was a lone digimon and a human male, this slightly confused the digimon but he decided not to question it. Amsel had also noticed the lone human, she tilted her head wondering if he had a partner if not then how was he going to fight?.
kaito walked in , quietly as he did not like to make a scene of everything . He started to walk around looking for some one he knew . what he saw actually overwhelmed him for a bit . different types of digimons and a wide variety of them at that . there was one that stood out in particular it was giant blue bug , the sheer size of the creature just amazed kaito , it was the biggest digimon he has seen so far.
kaito then sees dante with someone else , who he guessed was the tamer of that giant bug as it was standing next to them . he didn't bother to walk over to them as he doesn't like to start conversations , he then looked down on his little partner garou . Garou was not smiling and looking down , clenching his fists as he was drowned in thought . All he could think of right now is what do I do , what will happen if they lose , how can I prove myself to kaito , and most importantly how can he prove it to himself . " Kaito !! lets do it lets win this thing !!!" out of nowhere garou let out a shout as he suddenly got pumped up , kaito just face palmed and hoped no one would pay them much attention .
A young woman in a noticeable yellow jacket and a Kamemon enter the room looking around. It appeared that they might be among the last to arrive.
"Well at least we got here in time. Do you want to look around a bit Kami?" Megan signed to her turtle-like companion.
Kami looked at the small crowd that has formed and gave a shrug. "It's probably a good idea for us to at least check out the competition. Who knows? Maybe we'll see a familiar face around here." Kami responded back in sign
Megan gave a small nod as they began walking around. She did wonder if any one they recognize would have entered this competition as well. It would be kind of cool, if unlikely.
