"Challenge Accepted" [Shichiro/Takahiro]

Shichi laughed, wrapping an arm around Takahiro's shoulder in a quick hug. "This will be fun, Takun. You point it at the screen and thrust to stab, like this." He demonstrated in an easy, deliberate motion. "Raise it to guard. If you shake it like you're cocking a shotgun while guarding, the next thrust while fire a shot too for extra damage. Ready? I'll start us on the easiest, it'll give you a chance to get used to it. It's pretty cool. Ready?" He mashed the start button and took a step back, half-falling into a fencer's pose out of sheer habit.
The game began, moving their camera viewpoint along automatically. On on-rails game. Enemies, something like cyborg zombies or similar nonsense, appeared in small, slow groups just waiting to be cut down. Or occasionally cut down with sword bullets, apparently.

Takahiro is...not good. He misses more than half of the targets, and seems to be struggling to guard in time to block more significant attacks. However. He seems to be having fun. He's moving around quite a lot, and seems to be smiling quite enthusiastically. He even laughs once or twice!
But after a few games, he needs to take a short break. Oh, right. He isn't the athletic brother. He's getting a little hot from moving around so much, and has to fan himself with his hand. He turns to Shichiro, however, and pulls him into a hug that easily measures up to one of Scout's. "Th-that was so much fun, Shichan."

Shichiro however was clearly an old pro at the game. He rarely got hit, blocking the slow-moving cyborg whatevers quickly enough to retaliate with a shotgun-thrust and in a the few times Takahiro was in danger Shichi's light-foil was there to slip in and beat the creatures back. He could have been showing off, though his goal didn't seem to be to hog the glory or get the highest score. It seemed more like he was intent on keeping Taka in the game, playing with him. There wasn't much point to playing a cooperative game with your date, by yourself. With your date. Awesome. The game ended with a panting, sweaty Takahiro surprising him in a tight hug. Beaming over the top of Taka's head, Shichi returned the hug and rested his cheek on the boy's head for a moment, the smell of his shampoo tickling Shichiro's nose. His heart raced, not so much from the game (old and familiar for him) but from the amazing boy wrapped around his torso.
"I had a fun too," he said, still grinning when they separated. "Do you want to play something else? Why don't you pick the next one?"

Takahiro holds the hug for...well, not longer than necessary, no, he realizes he can hug Shichiro as much as he likes now! He kinda likes being held like this. It makes him feel very safe!
"Okay!" He grabs the older teen's hand and hauls him over to an arcade station with a pair of large motorbikes in front of it. Yeah, you get the idea. Takahiro climbs onto one, a smile still plastered across his face, "I bet you I can kick your b-butt, Shichan," D'aww. How...sweet?

"Okay, you're on!" Shichiro climbed onto the other bike and started putting coins into the machine. "You said you 'bet,' right?" he asked, a sly grin on his face. "Let's make it interesting. Winner gets one small request of the loser." He pulled back on the throttle of the bike controller he sat on, allowing Takahiro to pick the track and racing conditions. You had your choice of bike as well; they all looked basically the same to him, but he wasn't a racer guy. None of these stats meant anything to him. So, he picked the white and purple one.
"Ready when you are, hotshot." He may have seemed confident; he certainly wasn't worried about losing. It was probably going to happen, but he didn't care. No, not one bit. Shichiro was getting what he wanted already.

Takahiro wins.
...What? Oh. Alright.
Takahiro shows surprising skill with the game, especially considering it requires plenty of movement to control. Maybe he's especially good at racing games. Or maybe it's all just math to him. He wins by quite a decent margin as well, and seems extremely pleased about it! D'aww.
"One small r-request? Um. How about a kiss?" Well, that's reasonable!

Shichiro was laughing happily when he got off the faux motorcycle. He pulled Takahiro into a loose, friendly hug with an arm around his shoulders, congratulating him on his win. "Good driving, Takun. I never stood a chance!" He sobered up a little when Taka made his request, his laughter quieting and his smile not going away, but the quality of it changing somehow. Perhaps showing a tinge of anticipation. He looked down into Takahiro's beautiful grey eyes, reaching up to cup his cheek while his other hand twined his fingers around the younger boy's. "A kiss it is then," he murmured over the din of the arcade and leaning down, angling his head a little to the side...
It wasn't perfect. Their mouths fumbled, just for a second, to find each other before he felt Takun's lips meet his own. It was a brief, isolated moment alone in a crowd and it would be one of Shichiro's most cherished memories for the rest of his life.

One of Takahiro's most cherished, as well. Far from perfect, due to inexperience and nerves on Takahiro's part maybe? Still. Like electricity coursing through his body, starting from his lips. He gasps quietly as their lips part, “W-wow.”
...Anything more?
Not for thirty seconds.
“I...I think I l-liked, um. I liked doing that, Shichiro,” He wraps his arms around the much taller boy and holds himself close to his boyfriend! This is an amazing day. An amazing date! He's so lucky. “What, um. Wh-what now?”

"I, um. I liked it too." He was just beaming. And was that the glow from the arcade cabinets or was he flushed? Shichiro maintained his grip on Taka's hand when they parted, and gently pulled him towards the exit. "It's loud here. I know where we can go take a nice walk. I want to talk to you more. It's your turn to tell me about you now!" He grinned, even wider. The top of this kid's head was going to fall off. He wanted to get out of the noise and distractions of the arcade; it was cool but he could come there anytime. He had a boy to woo.
Even better. A boyfriend to woo.

Takahiro happily follows his boyfriend's lead, holding Shichiro's hand quite tightly, as though afraid they'll get separated. "Me? Oh, there's not, um, m-much to say. My brother and I were born here, we've l-lived here our whole lives. Dad's an, uh, dad's an environmental lawyer, and mom's a p-pediatrician. I've never had, um. More than one or two friends at a time, but I've always gotten on well with Sc-Scout. Mom and dad more or less let us do, uh, let us do what we want as long as we keep them in the loop, and use good judgement. I like to th-think their parenting style worked out well. For us. Maybe it wouldn't, uh, maybe it wouldn't work so well for other kids. I taught myself to play chess when I was younger, by reading instruction guides in English when I was learning the l-language,"
He taps his chin thoughtfully, "That's me, that's all."

"I think they did all right," Shichiro pondered, leading Takahiro towards the university campus. "Mom and Dad aren't very strict either. "We've raised intelligent, responsible kids," he mimicked his dad's deeper voice. "We expect you'll act like it." He chuckled, squeezing Taka's hand. He led the boy towards a grassy, wooded quad in between buildings on the campus. It had a number of sidewalk paths through it that he liked to wander when he was waiting for Dad, sometimes. The conversation was easy, as they talked about their lives and their families. They had a lot in common.
"So you speak English huh? I know a little, I guess."

"Mhm. English, Mandarin, and I'm l-earning, um, learning German. Oh, and...Japanese of course," Takahiro smiles, "Languages are my specialty,"
Really, it had been the only thing he'd taken pride in, as a kid. Sure, his brother had always been nice, and his parents didn't play favorites, but...well. When your brother was louder, athletic, and had a smile that could give the most battle-hardened men on Earth a heart attack with how sweet it was? You tended not to stand out.
"Where're we going, Shichan?"

"Right here actually," Shichiro responded cryptically. Partway around the quad he stopped by a small side-door locked with an electronic card reader. He pulled his dad's badge from a pocket and swiped it through, swinging it open for Takahiro when the light turned green and it unlocked with a mechanical click. He ushered Takahiro inside, pocketed the badge again and began leading him up the stairs. The building was four stories, so they had a few flights before they reached his destination. "That's really amazing Takun," he said, measuring his pace to make the climb easy. "Four languages. I struggle with conversational English."
When they reached fourth floor Shichiro kept walk, leading Taka by the hand up the very last flight to a metal door. It had no lock and he pulled his date forward as he swung it open. Twilight had begun to fall as they walked the quad, and a few stars twinkled in the darkening sky overhead. This part of the roof was bordered by a corner on one side and the raised ceiling of a lab of some kind on the other, making it a secluded little access with a few of the sky and Shibuya around them. A thick blanket had been laid out over a large portion of the roof, and an honest-to-god wicker basket was tucked in one corner. A tall, thick candle sat on the ledge offering a little warm light. It had burned maybe a quarter of the way down.
Shichi looked back to Takahiro anxiously, clearly hoping to impress the boy. He really, really hoped he liked it.

Takahiro is very glad that Shichiro is willing to walk slowly. He's...not so good with stairs. It takes quite a while to make the climb, as a result, and he seems very embarrassed that they're moving so slowly on his account, even apologizing for it! "W-well, yeah. I want to learn at least six by the time I'm in, um. In college," What a strange goal!
Takahiro's cheeks stay tinged pink as he sees the blanket...and the picnic basket...under the stars. He looks...upset? Or touched. Touched. "Oh..." A candle! That's so perfect! Takahiro immediately pulls Shichiro into a tight hug, "It's perfect, Shichan. Thank you,"

Oh, man. It was totally worth the effort if Takun would keep hugging him like this. Shichiro hugged him back just as tightly, still not quite able to believe this sweet, beautiful boy had eyes only for him. How lucky for them both he'd stopped by chess club that day. Shichi let the hug linger, reveling in the unabashed affection and happy to return it. After a few moments, he gently pulled away and took Taka's hands, leading him to the blanket and sitting where he could reach the basket. He'd picked Scout's brain for suggestions over the last few days, and the boy had offered some helpful- and some silly -suggestions.
"These are for you Takun," He pulled a small bouquet of a half-dozen red roses out of the basket and presented them to the younger boy. His other hand removed a small bundle of food from the other side of the basket- a couple trays of sushi, sweet rice balls and cans of soda. Grape, of course.
"Thank you so much for going out with me tonight."
