"...Miracle he's still alive..."
"...Multiple fractures...
"...Massive Puncture wounds. Never seen anything like it..."
"...Something big..."
Kai woke up. It wasn't immediately obvious. After all, he'd been fading in and out over the past few days. Of course, visitors outside of the family had been denied. Rumors flew around the school, the boy in question being fairly well known due to his proclivity in joining a great many of the schools clubs, while somehow maintaining his grades. All that had spread was that he was in the hospital. Had he been hit by a car? Attempted suicide due to the stress of school? Attacked by a jealous ex-lover? One crazy theory even said he'd been attacked by a rabid wolf! But that was ridiculous. Everyone knew that japanese wolves were extinct!
Eventually, his return to consciousness was noticed. "Oh!" The voice was clearly surprised. Kai was slightly concerned by the fact that he couldn't sit up to see who had spoken. Oh, don't try that. You're in no condition to move, young man! Oh, don't give me that look!I don't need to see your face to know what's on it! Don't underestimate us nurses!"
The lady who was speaking moved closer to the head of the bed, judging by the sound of her voice. Kai couldn't turn in order to look at her, though. "You're lucky to be alive, you know!If whatever that was that got you had been a few inches to either side..." She broke off, though it was obvious what she meant. "Anyways, now that you're awake... That Nakamura boy won't say a word about whatever did this! But you'll rat out whoever he's protecting... Oh! I shouldn't talk about that while you're still recovering. It must have been so traumatic!"
Nakamura...? Oh! Tomomi! If he was able to not tell the hospital... Wait, why was the hospital interested in catching whoever did this? Had the police gotten involved!? Poor Tomomi. But at least he was okay. He had to be, if he was being questioned about the event! That was a relief at least. Kai... Had managed to do one thing right, it seemed. After what felt like an eternity, he opened his mouth and croaked... "How bad is it?" The nurse seemed startled. She certainly hadn't expected him to speak!
She rattled of bones, organs, blood vessels... It felt like the list of places he'd been injured seemed to go on forever! The fact that he didn't feel any of it... He must be on so many pain medications. No wonder his brain felt so woozy! There was something big he was forgetting... He was sure of it... But nothing would stick in his mind for long. The nurse finished rattling off her list. Kai had only understood about half of it. The gist was- Most of his ribs: crushed. Left arm: multiple fractures. One lung: pierced. One kidney: pierced. His making it through the surgery had been iffy by the time they brought him in!
The next few days were a blur... Mostly due to the medications. His family visited daily- Even Renji showed up! He was informed that a few friends had visited, but were turned away, not being family. He inquired, but was given no further detail. He'd just have to wait for visiting to open to acquaintances. Finally, one morning at the start of visiting hours, he heard the nurse come in. You have a guest, dearie." To whomever was outside the door, she added, "Try not to be too excited. He's had a rough time, and needs his rest," Before exiting.
Who could it be?

They didn't know what happened.
Rei didn't know what had happened.
Hearing that Kai had been emitted into the Hospital with barely a breath of life left in him, she ran. She ran through the hallways of the School and left in the middle of lunch. But the Hospital wouldn't let her in to see him. So everyday she waited, everyday she visited still with the same result. No one allowed except for family members...and while she waited, she didn't even think to inquire with anyone else. It undoubtedly had something to do with Digimon. However, the worrying did not leave Rei with a clear mind. All she wanted to do now was to see that he was okay. Alive with her own eyes.
The Spirit User bowed to the Nurse in acknowledgement to her warning. "Thank You." And then they were left alone. A deep breath, and Rei entered the room, clutching the bouquet of flowers in hand. She didn't know what to get him. In fact she didn't even know a whole lot about Kai either. At best they were just acquaintances.
"....." Rei stared at him, laying there so broken, beat and bruised. The wrapped flowers crackled loudly as her hands clutched tightly. "I-I brought you some flowers...I hope they are okay." She quickly passed around his bed side, placing them upon the side table neatly. Rei would ask the Nurse if there were any vases she could borrow later. In her rush she didn't even think about that. A wilted present wouldn't do.
Her golden eyes remained upon the assortment of the brightly colored roses, carnations, and chrysanthemums. The usual go to types for patients. She wished she knew what he liked though. Her fingers lingered on the bouquet. "I'm glad your...." Rei couldn't even bring herself to finish that sentence. So instead she spun on her heels, working up a scolding and placed her hands on her hips. "You shouldn't worry your friends like that, dummy." Despite her attempts to act nonchalant, it came out softer and a lot more concerned instead. Perhaps that was the wrong thing to say anyways. But what else could she do?
Outright asking Kai about what transpired to get him in such a critical condition? She wanted to, but she wasn't sure if bringing it up like this was a good idea. Anyone could overhear, and if it involved Digimon, all the more reason. Of course it could've been someone else, that did not slip her mind. And if it had been, Rei knew that she would not hesitate to hunt them down....what? Her expression had changed to something darker. The teenager quickly rectified it, surprised at herself. "Um, so, do you know when you'll be discharged yet?" She quickly changed the subject. It was probably a stupid question. It still wouldn't be for a while.

Scout had been as worried as Rei! Maybe more so! His dad had been the one who picked Tomomi up and drove Kai to the hospital. And just as important, perhaps, his father had been the one to retrieve Kuro and Shiro, realizing that leaving them hanging around a ruined high school was a bad idea. Almost as bad an idea as letting them live in the hospital.
And so that had been Scout's life for the last few days. Making sure those two were alright, and checking every day to see if Kai was ready for visitors. Sure, they're not family, or BFFs or anything, but he's worried! As it turns out, Shiro and Kuro are much easier to take care of than Kai claimed. Maybe that's the depression and worry though. Or just Petermon's creepy presence.
Still, when Scout had heard Kai was ready for visitors, he'd promised to bring the two of them as long as they were quiet, and didn't cause a lot of fuss. Otherwise there'd be no more hospital visits! He knew it was bound to end in tears though. He's met Shiro.
And so Scout shows up only a few minutes after Rei, bearing gifts of his own! Candy with sufficient sugar content to kill every fairy in existence, as well as a much smaller bunch of flowers (they are...unnaturally green. Like neon green. Damn that boy and that colour...). He offers a nervous smile as he steps into the room.
Yeah, Kai's kind of a mess, but what had he expected? “Hey, uh. Looks like you and Tomi-Chan bit off more than you could chew, mayb--...uh,” Classy. Dammit Scout! “...I am so sorry. I should've bit my t--...Uh. Candy! Flowers!” He puts them on the table next to Rei's, and offers her a smile of greeting, before whispering to the satchel on his hip, “Okay, just...be quiet. And I mean you Shiro,”

Whatever was going on was fairly terrifying. Maia could honestly say she had no idea what was happening, but it seemed really sketchy. All of the rumors around the school had her very alarmed, and she had no idea what to go on. When the girl had met Kai, he seemed totally normal aside from his companions. Thinking about them, she wondered where they were hiding out. This was really too much for the already stressed out teen to handle.
Once she had heard of the boy being put in the hospital, she had begun panicking, but knew there was nothing that she could do about it. The best the blonde had been able to do at school was try to stop people from talking about these crazy theories they'd come up with. Seriously, who would think that Kai had a crazy ex that would try to kill him? Surely, she'd have noticed that kind of thing going on in her neighborhood. Suicide wouldn't fit him either, considering he had two Digimon to care for. Really, she couldn't figure out what would have made this happen. The thought of Digimon being dangerous still hadn't really occurred to her, considering her lack of experience with fights.
Arriving at the room, Maia found herself not to be the teens only visitor. Of course, she had expected that much. She quietly made her way in behind the strangers, and went to set a little stuffed cat (which she thought looked kind of like Shiro) on the table of gifts, making a pat to her bag. Of course, she was making sure Kyaromon was still inside and hadn't sneaked out, which, luckily, she could feel him probably asleep inside of it. After telling him the news, the little digimon had to make sure that their neighbor was okay. But, he had promised that if people were around, he wouldn't make a peep. Not really sure what to say about the entire ordeal, the girl managed out a quiet, "hey, while twisting on her hair. She hadn't really thought through on if he had any other visitors, or what she should even say to Kai, but took a moment to look at the two people already in the room, and nod slightly.
Wow, she was being awkward! The tamer knew this was going to happen! It had taken a lot of her working herself up to even get into the hospital, itself! Slowly, she managed to stop messing with her hair, and moved to cross her arms, waiting in case anyone was going to say anything. After all, she didn't know Kai's friends or family, really. "How... are you feeling?" Obviously, he probably felt pretty awful, but she couldn't just visit him and not plan to say anything!

"..."
Tomomi said nothing as he walked in. His head covered by this hoodie, the boy walked towards Kai's bed. Finally they let him in. This was all his fault. These past few days reminded Tomomi that being a Tamer is not a game. Kai almost died in his arms, all because he froze up for a minute. There is no excuse for what he did.
This whole time everyone was in the dark, for Tomomi went off the radar. He occassionally checked in the hospital to see if he would be able to see Kai, but two things happened. First off, they told him no. Secondly, they always wanted to question him, since he dropped Kai off. He couldn't even begin to think of an alibi. All he knew was that if people knew they were at the ruins of the school, everyone involved could be in serious trouble.
Today he was smart. He signed in as Takahiro Evans, so no one would follow him around. He was set on apologizing to Kai today.
When he looked in the room, he locked eyes with Scout. He didn't see or talk to him these past few days. He was too ashamed, depressed. Tomomi thought he wasn't good enough for Scout at this point. Tomomi looked away, getting a little emotional, he truly believed he was a burden for everyone.
Then, he looked at Kai. Instantly, he fell to Kai's bedside and started to tear up, "Kai...thank goodness you're alive..." He started to cry lightly, "If only I was stronger...this wouldn't have happened." A solemn look falls on his face, "I swear to you...I won't be weak ever again. I will never let this happen to my friends again..."
Tomomi felt broken, and tried really hard to fix himself. This isn't a game anymore. He looked at the room, trying very hard to avert Scout's gaze, and wrote on a piece of paper:
Not safe to talk here. It was a BlackGarurmon, and it's my fault.

Oh look, visitors. There was Rei Yukimura, the new Spirit User who was his upperclassman at school. Not exactly who he expected to be his first visitor outside of family... Then again, he hadn't really expected any at all, to be honest. "Thanks... And sorry... And it seems like I'll be here for a few weeks. It was pretty bad." It was so hard to talk in a way that didn't bring up Digimon! But he didn't know who could hear them.
And there was Scout, a good friend and another Spirit User. Though... Kai still couldn't say he felt comfortable looking him in the eye. It had not been long since Kai's weakness had caused the pacifistic Scout to go on a destructive rampage. But it seemed like Kai was the only one who felt that way. And had he just said Shiro? Had he seriously brought the white Digimon into the hospital!? What was he thinking? But... Kai had to admit, he wanted to see the two Digimon. To know they were alright. He hadn't been the only one to have fangs sunk into them, after all. Kuro had too!
Next was Maia Quinn, Kai's next door neighbor and a Tamer like himself. "Hey... And, I'm doing well... Though that may be the painkillers talking." Err... He should probably let the others know that Maia was a tamer. She was the only outsider in a room full of Tamers and Spirit users who knew each other. But how to do so without explicitly mentioning Digimon?
Finally, Nakamura Tomomi arrived. Kai's injuries were a result of him saving the boy from a Digimon. He'd do it again in a heartbeat, too. "Don't worry Tomomi. I'll be fine, see?" Kai smiled weakly and unconvincingly. The boy started writing something down. Kai glared at him. Was he crazy? (What was a BlackGarurumon anyways? If it was the thing that attacked them- Tomomi knowing what it was when he didn't only furthered Kai's suspicion that he was unfit to be a Tamer). But seriously. He didn't know Maia was a tamer! It was a stupid risk to take!
Oh well, she was a tamer so it was fine. First things first... Introductions. Lord, how it hurt to speak. Having a fang pierce your lung will do that, apparently. "So, uhh, Maia... meet Scout, Rei, and Tomomi. Tomomi, SCout, and Rei, this is my neighbor, Maia." Woo, introductions!
