It still took her breath away, every time she saw the massive, yet elegant, five-story building. Shibuya Medical Hospital. Mitsuko Kaioh slowly walked into the front door, to be greeted by a smiling woman behind the nurse’s station. The room was large, and full of light from the glass windows that made the front of the hospital. Chairs, were strategically placed on the opposite side of the room, with stands full of magazines right beside them. At the back of the room there was a silver elevator door, shining in the sun.
“Good morning, and welcome to Shibuya Medical Center. How can I assist you today?” the cheerful nurse asked.
Mitsuko smiled kindly, putting down her violin case on top of the nurse’s station counter. “Good morning.” Mitsuko said softly, her voice was soft, as a gentle breeze, yet sweet as honey. “I am looking for my father, Doctor Kaioh.”
“I see,” the nurse said softly, her eyes narrowing ever so slightly. “Well, dear, he is a busy man.”
“I know.” Mitsuko said, as she smiled warmly to the nurse. “I just wanted to bring him a good lunch, and perhaps see if he would let me play for the patients.”
“Well, I suppose that is alright.” The nurse said gently. “Go to the third floor, and ask for directions in at the Nurse’s Station.”
“Yes Ma’am.” Mitsuko gently bowed her head, her long silvery hair cascading over her shoulders. “Thank you, very much.” She then grabbed her violin and headed towards the elevators, where a group of people were waiting to enter. Again, she set down her violin, and quickly straightened her school uniform. Making sure that her vest was straight, and her blue plaid skirt laid perfectly, and finally flipping her hair over her shoulders, where is gently fell against her back. A soft ding alerted here that the elevator doors were opening, so she quickly scooped up her violin and entered the elevator. She noticed that the Third Floor button was lit up. The silver doors closed, and within a few moments, she was exiting the elevator.
As she walked over to the Nurse’s Station, she saw her father, outside of a patient’s room, reading over some charts.
“Papa!” She called, as she got closer to him.
“Suki, dear, what are you doing here?” He looked at his daughter in shock.
“Well, you forgot your lunch again.” She giggled as she handed him the Bento Box. “I also was wondering if you wanted me to play for the patients.” Mitsuko clutched her violin even tighter. “My instructors say music is medicine for the soul.”
“Your instructor is very wise.” Masanori Kaioh said softly, as he laid his hand on top of Mitsuko’s head. “Just knock, and enter. Ask if they want a song played. If not, go to another room. Why don’t you start in this room. No one knows what happened to him, but I think he could use your help right now. After you are done meet me for lunch, looks like you packed enough food here to feed an army.”
Mitsuko smiled softly, and nodded, before she entered the room she saw a name on the door. Kai Haimura.
“Good…” Mitsuko’s cheerful voice trailed off. His body seemed so tiny, fragile, almost broken. Her heart suddenly ached in pain. This poor guy. “morning.” She ended somberly, as her free hand absentmindedly played with a strand of her silvery hair. “I … I’m Mitsuko Kaioh, my Father is your doctor. He asked me to play a song for you, if you wanted.” Mitsuko’s voice trailed off yet again as her heart started beating faster. Why was she always like this? Always nervous?

A visitor? If it weren't for the whole, 'don't move while you heal' thing, Kai would have sat up to see who it was. As it was, he had multiple ribs, an arm, and several organs which were still healing from a recent encounter with a Digimon. More specifically, with a Digimon's teeth. But... If not him, it would have been Tomi lying here in this hospital bed. He couldn't really say he regretted any of it... Though, his body certainly did. If it weren't for all the painkillers he was dosed on, he was certain every inch of it would be complaining. Loudly. Painfully.
Worse than the pain... Much worse, in fact, was the fact that Kuro and Shiro weren't with him. He missed the two, even if Kuro didn't say much and Shiro's antics always got the three into trouble. But without Kai there, who would keep Shiro out of trouble? Sure, he was staying at Scout's house... But still... Kai worried. And then worried more, since he wasn't really allowed to move and had nothing to do except think...
Oh right, his visitor. Not being able to see... Her, judging by the sound of her voice, had distracted him from her presence. At least, until she began speaking. "If... You want... To..." Kai said weakly. Oh, how speaking would hurt if it weren't for the painkillers! It turned out that with a punctured lung, anything that required breathing was nothing short of painful! Still, music would be a welcome releif from the endless monotony of bed rest. Though, not being able to see what he presumed was a her, made him curious as to what kind of person she was.

Mitsuko could almost feel the pain behind Kai’s words. Her eyes stinging with tears, which she refused to shed currently. She moved a chair to the side of Kai’s bed, she could see his face. He was about her age, handsome and so strong from sustaining these injuries. Mitsuko realized she was staring, and blushed quickly. “Of course. I think …” she stumbled for the words in her mind “I think I know a song just for you.” Quietly she dug out her violin and bow.
For a minute she was quiet as she allowed the emotions in her to fuel her playing, she flipped a strand of silver hair out of her face. Slowly, a sad, yet gentle melody began to resonate into the room, causing Mitsuko to close her eyes. She played “Phuong Medley – Green Pastures” the music seemed to sing to her, that for some reason, he may identify with the song. For over four minutes, the song danced around the room from her violin.
The final note danced, from her hands, across the room. Slowly Mitsuko opened her deep blue eyes, looking cautiously toward Kai. “I … hope that was alright…” her soft voice trailed off, as she gently placed the violin into her lap. For some reason it hurt her, to see him this way. Her eyes, trailed along his body, across the bandages wrapped around the frail looking boy.

Her face came into view... Long silver hair, deep blue eyes... A beauty, as Haruki would put it. Haruki Yuuto, who didn't actually sit next to Kai in class- but often acted like he did. As in, he spent just about every break with his friends by Kai's desk... None of them even sat near there. Kai just didn't understand why... Was his seat that good? Certainly they weren't there to be near him. Who would? Kai was about as boring as they came, and not good enough at anything to attract attention. He should know- He did take part in nearly every school club. According to a friend, he'd actually picked up quite the reputation in school for that. No doubt a bad one.
But when Mitsuko began to play, such worries vanished. She didn't seem much older than he was... But she was far better at playing that violin than it felt he would be at anything, ever! If it weren't for the painkillers keeping him numb, it felt like the music would wash away his pain. If only it could also wash away the injuries that came with it. No such luck.
Finally, the music died down. It was... Beautiful..." Kai choked out, feeling more than a little uncomfortable to see her watching him. Pitying him. "Thank... You." Ow. But despite the pain, he felt that it needed to be said. Because it was beautiful. And he was thankful to have heard it. He just wished he could do something for her in return... Not that he was very capable of doing so. He wasn't that good at anything... Especially not when confined to a hospital bed.

“You’re welcome.” Mitsuko smiled softly. “It was my pleasure, to play for you.” She gently pulled her violin closer to her chest, as she bowed her head forward. A curtain of silvery-white hair fell between herself and Kai Himura. She didn’t know what to say, she was curious about his wounds, but it was rude to ask. She wanted to know more about him, but she figured that too was considered rude on some level. She had to do something, it was her duty to cheer him up.
Slowly, she raised her head once again, and smiled sweetly to Kai. “Mr. Haimura, would you like something to eat? Something sweet perhaps? I know whenever I am not feeling well, I do tend to crave sweets.” She felt her pulse racing, this was the most she has ever talked to anyone in a long time, but part of her was enjoying the socialization. “Or I could play another song, since you definitely shouldn’t be talking.” Mitsuko finished, frowning slightly.
Oh, how she wished he was feeling better. For a brief moment, she had a flash in her mind, of walking down the street with him, eating ice cream, giggling. Yeah, that did it. She was blushing once again. Absentmindedly, she put her hand to her face, wondering if she could feel the heat from the outside.

From music to sweets? That was a sudden change! And... Kai did like sweets. Though, on as many painkillers as he was- Maybe it would be best not to. His mind was a bit fuzzy from the drug cocktail currently in his system, but it seemed better to not be eating for now. Besides... He shouldn't impose like that. The only sweets here would probably be overpriced from the vending machine in the lobby. On the other hand... "Another... Song, would... Be nice..." She was a wonderful player... As inadequate as that made him feel, he couldn't help but enjoy the one song she had played. It had been unexpected... But a pleasant surprise, at least. He relaxed and listened to Mitsuko play.

Mitsuko couldn’t help but to smile at his answer. She nodded, and slowly and grabbed her violin. Her mind reeled with multiple choices of which song to play. Finally, she decided to play something soothing and relaxing. “I remember hearing this song once, and thought it to be the most beautiful thing.” Mitsuko said softly. “I played it once on the piano, I hope I do it justice.” Mitsuko smiled, as she raised her violin.
The soft and sweet song of “River Flows in You” by Yiruma filled the room. The sweet melody just seemed to wrap her up, allowing her to escape from reality for just a moment. Before she knew what was happening, she had slowed her playing down, reaching the last few notes. A few tears stinging her eyes, as she lowered her violin back into her lap.
“Thank you, for letting me play.” Mitsuko smiled sadly, as she bowed her head. She then put her violin into her case, slowly.

She was right. It was beautiful. Kai closed his eyes and let the music wash over him. And then it was over, again. He opened his eyes again. He couldn't see her very well... But she seemed sad, for some reason. Were those tears in her eyes? Should he say something? Try to comfort her? But, not knowing what was making her sad... Wouldn't he be more likely to say the wrong thing? "Thank... You, for... Playing for me..." He struggled to find something else to say... "Are... you-"
"Uwoooh! Bishoujo! Kai, you sly dog! When did you plan to introduce me to this beauty?" Kai's question was cut short by the (un?)timely arrival of a certain spiky haired blond boy, by the name of Haruki Yuuto. "Why is it you that meets all of these beautiful girls!? Save some for the rest of us!" The boy cried with mock anguish. Then, with a flourish, he bowed to Mitsuko. "May this humble Haruki Yuuto have the honor of knowing your name, milady?"
Eh? What was Haruki doing here? Had Kai summoned him by thinking about him? Though... Kai felt rather embarrassed by the boy's behaviour. At least Haruki hadn't jumped to any conclusions... He hoped.

“You’re welcome.” Mitsuko smiled warmly, as she brushed away the tears that threatened to spill over. “I am glad you enjoyed it.” Mitsuko closed the violin case, and put it down upon the seat beside her. Soon, she was jumping in her chair, as a blonde haired boy stepped into view. Within minutes she was blushing. Did he think that she and Kai were … dating?! They had only just met… then again the blonde boy didn’t know that. Did he really think that she was beautiful? Or was it the fact that he had bowed in front of Mitsuko?
Realizing that time was still passing, and that the boy was still bowing, Mitsuko shook her head with a quick motion, clearing out the excess random thoughts. “Oh, of course.” Mitsuko said, standing up, her blush still soft upon her face. “I’m Mitsuko. Mitsuko Kaioh.” She bowed. Upon straightening she looked over at Kai “But my friends, call me Suki.” Hopefully catching his eye, letting him know that she didn’t mind if he called her that.
“I… I’m a hospital volunteer.” Mitsuko turned back to Haruki “My father is Doctor Kaioh.” She grabbed a strand of her hair, twirling it in her fingers, absentmindedly.

"Suki, Suki, Daisuki~" Haruki chanted in a sing-song voice, utterly repentant despite the meaning of his words. Kai... Rather wanted to claim that he had no relation to the embarrassment that was Haruki Yuuto. Kai was the one who was high on painkillers, so why was Haruki the one acting like he was? But... It didn't seem worth trying to talk for the sake of making a tsukkomi. Talking was just... More trouble than it was worth, at the moment.
Unfortunately for Kai, Haruki wasn't about to stop there. "Such a player, Kai! The idol of our grade, the beautiful upperclassman in the photography club, and the foreign beauty next door weren't enough for you!? You have to seduce the doctor's beautiful daughter as well? Shame on you!" But, sidling up to Kai, he whispered, "Seriously Kai, you gotta tell me how you do it! You dog!" Kai stuttered, shocked. "It's.. It's..." Not like that! It wasn't like that! Yui, Rei, and Maia were just friends! As well as fellow tamers! Well, Rei was a Spirit user. But he couldn't explain that! Neither Haruki nor Mitsuko was involved in that!

Mitsuko could feel her face burning scarlet. Did this Haruki think that she couldn’t hear him? If her face got any more red, it might catch on fire! These things all flew through her mind, only to be doused by the mentions of the other girls. “We … We.” Mitsuko stuttered, her face still red “We aren’t like that. Not that…” Mitsuko sat back down into the chair, hiding her face behind her hands. She was so embarrassed! Stupid. Stupid. Stupid! Mitsuko chastised herself. Why did people, specifically boys, cause this reaction in her?!
Was Kai really a ladies man? Possibly, but she didn’t get that vibe from Kai. Was Mitsuko next on his target, if he was? She didn’t see how she could be. Did she mind if he did target her? That answer scared her the most, no she didn’t. The questions continuously ran through her head.

Haruki broke out in a laugh. "Methinks the lad and lass doth protest too much!" He declared. "Is it true? So you don't mind if I go after her?" He whispered privately to Kai. Kai, who was simply too tired to argue against it. This room had all of a sudden gone from completely melancholic to way too energetic! Wasn't this the point when the nurse was supposed to step in and calm it down?
Please, as if an experienced old lady like that would dream of interfering with a teenage love triangle. Though, she did wish she had some popcorn. Mmm, popcorn.
Taking silence for consent, Haruki whirled around. Did he ever stop moving? Probably not. "Well then, dear Suki-chan, would you do me the honor of a day on the town? That is to say, a date~" Because of course, if he didn't clarify, she might misunderstand. And that would be too much of a classic romcom situation.
Kai couldn't believe it. Was Haruki seriously asking a girl out? In Kai's hospital room! Well... Yeah, that was part of the boy's charm, too. Besides, if Mitsuko was amenable, he couldn't complain.. Not that he could anyways, stuck in this bed and mostly unable to talk.

Mitsuko honestly thought her face might explode from her embarrassment. She had literally just met Kai, and although she did like him, she was already accused of dating him! Only to be asked out by the accuser, basically a stranger, within five minutes! No one could say her life was boring. Why was it now, all of a sudden, guys noticed her? In school she was basically invisible! She had to get a grip on herself, Haruki was expecting an answer.
"I... I." She stammered as her face deepened in a red hue"I don't think a... date"she stumbled over the foreign word"would be a good idea. Your friend here is lucky to be alive."She twirled her hair nervously, how could she say 'no' but in a kind way..."Maybe another time... but we could possibly go shopping, and get Kai a few books, or puzzles or something. You know, as friends."She emphasized.
Hopefully her tact wasn't too subtle. She did like Kai, and Haruki seemed fun. The timing was bad, and she wanted her first date to be romantic, especially when the guy asked. Not while in a hospital. She wondered how many girls ever got into this situation, and figured the answer wasn't very probable. As her mother used to say, oye vey!

"Awww" Haruki was clearly quite disappointed at the rejection. Or was he? For only a second later, he was whirling about the room again! "Nyahaha! I see how it is! But of course, I would be happy to accompany you, milady~" Something in his voice made Kai very suspicious. A hint of mischief, like he planned to trick her into buying Kai some weird gift that Mitsuko would never purchase in her right mind. Considering it was Haruki... "When shall we go, off on our not-a-date?" Despite this clear distinction, he was clearly happy about something. Was getting to spend time alone with a girl that exciting for him?
Yeah, it probably was.

Mitskuo felt her face finally starting to return back to normal. "One moment." She told Haruki. She opened her violin case and pulled out a pen and a scrap piece of paper. She made sure her wallet was still inside the small compartment hidden on the inside of her violin case. Quickly she scribbled down her name and number, folding the paper in half and put it by the phone in Kai's room. "If you need anything, please call." she told Kai, and headed towards the door. "Alright, let's go!" Mitsuko called to Haruki, keeping a watchful eye on him, in case he tried to take the paper she left for Kai. This might be a long day, Mitsuko thought to herself.
