Looks For Housemate, Gets An Adventure (Johnathon/Itsuki)

John was relieved that he was getting his own bedroom and bathroom just how the terms listed in the ad Itsuki placed before. The tour itself was enjoyable to him. he took a mental note of what Itsuki had to say as the two of them walked through the house. In fact, a visit to the local bath sounded somewhat enjoyable. Then again, John was a little insecure about the idea of public showers back in the states, let alone bathing in a public bath!
"Well, I do have one question about the public bath." John replied to the blonde young man. "Do you happen to know if there are any private sections there? I'm um...Not used to the idea of bathing in a public place. Oh, and don't worry. I'll make sure to do my absolute best to respect your privacy."

Itsuki thought about his question. "I'm not quite sure to tell you the truth. I've never used the public bath, only the onsen. I'm sure if you went to one very late at night, no one else would be there. That would be the only thing I could think of. " She shrugged.
Itsuki turned back to the living room. "If that's all the questions, then shall we talk about the rental agreement and first and last month's payment?" She went back to the living room and brought a contract out from one of the cabinets. "This is pretty much just a formality. Talks about what I put in the ad, rent, payments, etc. First and last month's payment is just so that if you decide to leave, we have things squared up money-wise." She handed it and a pen to him. "Take all the time you need to look it over."

John watched while Itsuki pulled the contract from the cabinet. As he placed it into John's hand, he began to look over it. He made sure to look at every word on the parchment so that he did not miss any details, as John was always taught to read an entire contract. Just as Itsuki mentioned, the contract entailed exactly what he said.
Now that he was satisfied with the details of the contract, John walked to one of the counter tops and placed the paper firmly onto the counter's surface. "Okay. I gladly accept the terms of this contract." The man looked delighted while he wrote his signature on the line provided with the pen Itsuki had handed to him.
"And, finished." He chuckled for a moment. "Looks like I'll have to work on finding a job right away! I can't expect to live off of my life savings forever, after all."

"Great." Itsuki took the paper and put it back in the cabinet. "I'll get the payment from you tomorrow. I'm sure you're exhausted from your trip. Why don't you head to your room and get settled in? Is there anything you want in particular to eat? There's a conbini just right around the corner, some restaurants at the station, or if you wanted to have what I was going to make for dinner, that's fine too. It's not going to be very extravagant though; fish, soup, rice, and salad." She walked over to the kitchen and started getting utensils out.

Now that was definitely an important matter to consider options for. He had not eaten since he first got on the flight to Japan. "Oh, um. If you don't mind, I would enjoy some of the food that you are making soon. Thank you for your offer!" And with that, John gathered up his luggage, and made his way upstairs.
Once he entered the room that was designated as his, he was almost taken aback by how wonderful the room looked. It was a bit spacious, which was definitely a good thing for John. His bed was situated to the left of the bedroom window, and a computer desk sat against the wall across from the foot of the bed. Perfect! A place to set up his laptop. John would have to ask for the Internet password later, if there was one.
Unpacking his things was not too difficult of a task. John was thankful that he had a closet in the room, as well as some drawers to put his clothes into. He was now officially settled in. All that was left to do was to freshen up after the long flight to the country. The man collected a fresh change of clothes before taking a shower downstairs to feel refreshed and clean. After which, he changed into the new clothes, and brought his dirty laundry upstairs to place in his laundry bag. John had a good feeling that he was going to enjoy living here.

Itsuke nodded and started taking out ingredients. She turned the rice cooker on and let it cook while she prepared the soup and the fish. The fish and salad would be the fastest to prepare so she set the fish aside for now and started on the soup.
She heard the shower go on and nodded to herself. That would give her a little time to get dinner going at least. She hummed a bit as she finished up on the soup, turning it down to simmer then worked on grilling the fish. This was done in very little time. She put the salad together and set it on the table, along with four smaller wooden bowls, two medium sized soup bowls, two plates, chopsticks, tea cups, and spoons. After thinking about it further, she put out a fork for John, just in case.
When she heard the shower go off, she spooned the soup into the two bowls and placed them on the table. She put half of the fish on each plate, and put salad into two of the wooden bowls and rice into the other two bowls. She finished arranging them on the table and turned on the kettle for water. Now she would just wait for John to come down and they could eat.

John was beginning to realize that he was actually pretty hungry right about now. The sweet aroma of the home cooked food that Itsuki prepared definitely wasn't helping his situation. "Oh man...That smells really delicious." Eager to fill his belly with a tasty meal, John walked back down the stairs in order to bee-line to the kitchen.
Eyes lighting up in elation, John could have swore his mouth was now acting as a waterfall with the saliva that was now being produced. It was all thanks to how the food looked, as well as the heavenly scent. John offered Itsuki a smile as he sat down. "This looks delectable.Thank you, Itsuki!" Unable to wait to dig in to the meal sitting before him, John grasped his chopsticks, and clasped his hands before him. He bowed respectfully, as it was customary to do so before a meal. "Itadakimasu."
Not wanting to be disrespectful, the foreigner respectfully waited for his housemate to take the first bite. "I have a feeling that we're going to be good friends, Itsuki."

Itsuki picked up her chopsticks and put her hands together. "Ittadakimasu." She murmured before picking up her rice bowl and starting to eat, adding bits of the fish to her rice. She nodded to John. "I imagine we will be. I hope all the food is to your liking." She smiled and continued to eat quietly, not used to having a meal with someone after being alone for a while.
There was a whistling sound. "Oh right the tea." Itsuki got up and turned the heat off. She got out some teabags and matcha powder. "Which would you prefer?" She put some matcha powder in her own cup and poured the hot water in.

John thought for a bit. He considered Itsuki's query. It must have been a couple of years since John had any actual authentic tea. "Umm...I'm not sure." He replied, smiling softly. "Surprise me! I know that I'll like it."
The young man followed suit by mixing some of the fish into his bowl of rice. He scooped a small bundle of the rice from the bowl, ensuring that he collected a piece of fish as well, and placed them into his mouth. The very moment the food hit his taste buds, John felt as though he was just blasted with incredible flavor. He eagerly chewed his food and swallowed before digging in some more. "Oh wow, this is incredible!" His face was now illuminated with joy from the wonderful essence.
"You know, I can always cook for you sometimes. I would enjoy making some spaghetti and meatballs some time. It's an Italian dish. It's similar to ramen, except instead of a broth, you use a tomato sauce. Then again, there are multiple ways to cook spaghetti. It can be prepared with different kinds of meats, like clams, chicken sausage..." John trailed off, and chuckled softly. "Gomen'nasai. These terms are probably foreign to you."

Itsuki decided on an Earl Grey teabag she had. She put it in his cup poured the hot water in as well. She smiled as he enjoyed her meal. She was glad, she had just cooked to her preference and hoped for the best. She listened as he talked about cooking for her. She sat down again and continued eating.
When he had finished talking she nodded. "No, I understand. A lot of foreigners are surprised by this, but in Tokyo there are a lot of ethnic foods. Italian, like you mentioned, American, Chinese, and so on and so forth. If you get a chance to go into Tokyo, you might enjoy trying those different restaurants. As for myself, I work at a restaurant that caters to fancier dinners. I've never had, what did you call it, spaghetti? It sounds interesting, maybe you can make it for dinner one night." She nodded with a smile and continued eating her meal, sipping her tea occasionally. When she finished her meal, she took her dishes to the sink and washed them, putting them on a rack to dry. She turned towards John again. "Feel free to have seconds if you would like. I am going to my room for the rest of the night. I hope you sleep well, and I shall see you in the morning." With a slight bow, she headed down the other hallway and to her room.
She sat on her bed and took out her laptop, deciding to change her ad to "No Longer Available". When she finished she noticed her screen start to glitch. She frowned and clicked the mouse a couple times. The glitching seemed to stop but then there was a pop up. It was an image of a goldish orange egg with yellow spots. Itsuki tilted her head. What was this, an ad for a game? She clicked on the egg image. There was a flash of bright light and then the image was gone. Itsuki blinked a couple times. That was....odd, to say the least. She shrugged and closed the laptop. Getting up and putting it on her desk, she changed into her sleepwear and turned her light off, going to sleep.

With Itsuki turning in for the night, John happily put away any of the leftover food once he was finished with his own. And forthwith, the man ensured to drink his tea. He wasn't familiar with the flavor, but it sure was tasty! Once his tea had been finished, John commenced cleaning and drying the dirty dishes. He sighed in relief before smiling triumphantly. "Okay. Time to turn in to bed."
In following, John made his way up the stairs to his designated bathroom and performed his nightly ritual. This included brushing his teeth, flossing, and rinsing out his mouth with some alcohol-free mouthwash. Now that his dental hygienic needs were stated for the night, John entered his bedroom and tucked himself into his bedstead.
The next morning, John awoke from his slumber as the sunlight began to pout into the room through the window. With a yawn and a stretch, the man tossed the covers from his body and rubbed the sleep from his eyes. Instead of spending the day in the house, John decided that he would go outside to explore the surrounding area. In order to begin his day, John brushed his teeth and ate some of the leftovers in the kitchen. When he finished his breakfast, John made sure to clean the dishes. It was the least he could do to make Itsuki's life easier.
He relaxed at the kitchen table in order to wait for Itsuki to wake up so that he may greet him at the start of the day. He didn't just want to leave the house without letting him know where he would be, so that he would not make him worry. Now that John thought about it, he went ahead and heated up the rest of the leftovers that required heat, and displayed them on the table for Itsuki to enjoy. If anything, John would just put them back into the refrigerator if his housemate didn't prefer the leftovers to eat.

Itsuki woke up as sunlight streamed through her window onto her face. She sat up and rubbed her eyes. "Man, what a weird dream... A computer egg..." She stretched and changed into her everyday attire, though leaving off her khaki vest. She took her work uniform downstairs and started a load of laundry. As she was coming out of the laundry room, she was surprised by the smell of food. She walked into the kitchen and was again surprised, this time because John was sitting at the table with food waiting for her.
"John-san, I didn't expect you to be up this early. I'm sorry, I should have gotten up earlier to make breakfast. After all, this is only your second day here. Nonetheless, I am grateful." She smiled and sat down, putting her hands together. "Ittadakimasu." She started to eat happily. "Any plans in particular for today?" She asked looking up.

John gave a welcoming smile to Itsuki. "Think nothing of it. I had some leftovers from last night, so you don't have to worry about cooking a whole bunch." The man replied to his housemate. With Itsuki's question as to what his plans would be for the day, he pondered in thought whilst rubbing his right hand's fingers along his chin. While he did so, John noticed that some stubble was beginning to form. He would need to make sure that he shaved later during the day. Preferably before bed.
"Well," John began, "I have been thinking about visiting the Shibuki forest today. I've always considered visiting the forest to enjoy the scenery. What about you, Istuki? Any plans for today?"

Itsuki finished her breakfast and brought her hands together. "Gochisosama deshita." She looked at John. "That's a very nice area. Very quiet and peaceful. As for me, I have work later tonight, so I'll probably hang around home for today." She got up and put her dishes in the sink, washing them. She looked over. "If you plan to be gone for long, the conbini right around the corner sells great bento sets."
She wiped her hands on the hand towel and turned back to face him. "Oh, I'm working the dinner shift so I won't be here. You have my cell number in case something comes up." She opened a drawer and got out a key, handing it to him. "This is my spare key. It's yours now. Also, if you could stop by a bank and grab first and last month's rent, I'd appreciate it." She tilted her head. "Am I forgetting anything?" She mused.

"No, I think you have all of your bases covered." John replied with a soft smile. Of course, he was using an expression from the United States. "What I mean is, no. I don't believe you're forgetting anything. He wanted to make sure he reiterated what he meant so that Itsuki would not get confused by the foreign phrase. "But thank you for reminding me."
He gladly accepted the spare key, which he then placed onto a Doctor Who key chain that he normally kept on his person. John stood up from his chair and pushed it in toward the table as a courtesy. "I'll go ahead and head out now. If I manage to make it back before you head to work, would you like me to get a bento set for you when I pick mine up?"
