Itsuki shook her head. "Thank you but I'll most likely eat at the restaurant." She walked him to the door. "In Japan, when you leave your house, its customary to say 'ittekimasu'. It means, 'I'm leaving now.' Anyone still home would reply with, 'ittarashai.' It means, 'Take care on your way.'" She said with a smile. Then she paused. "Though...you probably already knew that." She put her hand behind her head with a sheepish grin.

"Oh." John mused, now smiling at Itsuki once again. "That's definitely something useful to know." The tenant opened the door using his right hand, noting how cold the door handle felt against his fingertips. He offered a friendly goodbye wave to his new friend. "I'm heading out to the forest now, Itsuki. I should only be gone for a couple of hours. Have a great day at work if I don't see you, okay? Ittekimasu!"

"Ittarashai." Itsuki said with a wave. Once John had closed the door, Itsuki went back to her room and decided to take a shower. She looked around for her towel that she normally kept in her room. "Ah, there it is." She murmured as she noticed it in the corner of her room. "Now how did it get over here?" She wondered, picking it up. "Ah!" Underneath it was a giant egg! "The egg from my dream, its real!" She knelt down to take a better look at it. It was exactly the same as she saw on her computer, goldish orange with yellow spots. She reached out one hand to touch it. The egg seemed to quiver. Itsuki drew her hand back in surprise, then tried again. This time the egg stayed still. It was warm to the touch, and Itsuki could have sworn she felt some sort of rhythm underneath the shell, steady and repetitive. "That's a heartbeat!" She realized. "It's alive..." She breathed out, picking the egg up gently. "Well if it's alive, it needs to be kept warm." She reasoned. She walked over to her bed and made a sort of 'nest' out of her blankets and pillows, putting the egg in the center. "Good. Now it won't fall off and it will stay warm." She nodded then patted the egg. "Stay still while I go take a shower now." She said then chuckled to herself. She was talking to an egg. She grabbed her towel again and left her room, closing the door. She didn't see the egg start to wiggle nor had she seen the small device that seemed to have appeared overnight on her desk....
She headed downstairs to the laundry room and opened up the door that led to the shower. She turned the water on and proceeded to undress and shower. It only took her about 20 minutes, since she didnt have long hair to keep up. She got out and dried off, getting dressed again. She blow-dried her hair, even though she didn't like the sound or the heat, but Tsubomi's scoldings when they were younger kept playing back in her mind. "You dont want to catch a cold, do you? Then dry your hair!" She could almost hear it. She finished and brushed out her hair, then put her towel in the washing machine to be washed. Once the machine was slightly more full, she would start it. She left the wash room, putting away everything she had gotten out. She looked at the clock. She still had quite a bit of time before she would have to leave for work. She sat on the couch and turned on the TV. The channel it was on was about birds. She sat back and watched as they showed several types of birds and eggs. It kinda went in one ear and out the other for Itsuki.
She started to nod off when her cell phone started ringing. She jumped, startled, and opened it answering the call. "Moshi moshi, Momosuke here." She listened as one of her coworkers begged her to take their shift as they had a date during their shift and they would be happy to take her evening one. After several 'please please please' lines from her coworker, Itsuki agreed. She hung up while her coworker was still thanking her profusely. She looked at her phone's clock. She'd have to leave now in order to make that shift. She got up and wrote a note to John, saying she had taken an earlier shift and would be home around dinner time. She went to the hallway closet, put on her vest, grabbed her backpack, and left the house, locking the door behind her. She made it to the station a little early, so she grabbed a couple of onigiri from the little store in the station. She went swiped her IC card at the terminal but heard a 'Denied' sound. She looked at the terminal in surprise, as she had just refilled her card the other day. The numbers on the terminal were all 0's and 1's. She frowned and swiped her card again. This time she heard the 'Accepted' sound and the doors opened. The numbers now showed how much was on her card. "That was weird." She murmured, going through and getting on the train.
It didn't take her long to get to work and change into her uniform. She popped her head into her boss's office and explained she was switching shifts with her coworker. With a grunt and a nod, her boss gave his approval. She left his office walked to her station at the front and started greeting those waiting in line. So her shift at work began.

A couple of hours had passed by now since John had left to visit the Shibuki Forest. Now that he was on his way back home, this would give him a small window of time to devise a way to keep his new egg a secret from his housemate, Itsuki. After all, he did not want to be kicked out of the house for breaking the rule about pets. But, what was he to do if the egg hatched? He hoped that he'd be able to keep this Digimon thing under wraps.
Along the way, John made sure to stop by the local bank. It was there that he would pick up some money for the first and last month's rent that he would owe to his housemate. Of course, a few people that were waiting inside gave John some strange looks It couldn't be helped, as John seemed to be acting weirdly since he was carrying around an egg! John sighed to himself out of exasperation when he exit through the bank's doors. "I really should have brought my backpack." He groaned.
It was once John reached the conbini store at the corner that Itsuki had talked about earlier that day. And of course, his stomach had to growl out of hunger. "Well, I guess I can get a bento set." He mused to himself. "I am pretty hungry." John's mind was now made up. He proceeded to purchase a bento set, which looked very delicious. Now that that area of business was taken care of, it was time for John to finally get home before he was accused of stealing an egg!
Finally, John had made it to the house! He eagerly fished for his spare key, unlocked the door, and stepped inside. Before he would do anything else, John made sure to remove his sneakers and replace them with the house slippers. "Okay. Let's see if I can find something to keep you warm." He would say to the egg he cradled while he walked upstairs to his room. He was so preoccupied with the egg, he failed to notice the note that Itsuki had left for him! Once he entered his private space, John gently set the egg on his bed, and used one of his blankets to keep it safe and warm. With the bento set still in hand, John sat down on the bed next to the egg, and began to eat his meal with the chopsticks that were provided upon purchase.
Now that he had completed his lunch, John sat the empty plate down next to him along with the chopsticks. He smiled softly to himself and placed his right hand against the egg. It felt warm to the touch. "I can only imagine what you're going to hatch into. But whatever you will become, I know that we're going to be best friends."

The shift passed by fairly quickly. After Itsuki had completed her shift, she changed out of her uniform and went back to the kitchen to see the head chef. He was a burly, red faced man with a heart of gold. He always made sure those who wanted/needed a meal had one provided after their shift. She looked in to see if he was busy. He must have been expecting her because when he saw her poke her head in, he held up a bowl of fresh, steaming udon. She grinned and came in, taking the bowl gratefully. "Arigatou, Oji-san." She used the nickname the staff had given him. He really was like everyone's favorite uncle. She carefully took the hot bowl of soup and noodles to the staff room and set it down, then went back and got a pair of chopsticks and a spoon. She sat down and brought her hands together. "Ittadakimasu."
After finishing her meal and bringing the dishes back to the kitchen staff on duty, Itsuki left her work and got on the train. She wondered how the egg was doing... She hoped it was warm enough.... She looked up as the train announced her stop. She got off and walked home. Unlocking her door, she walked into the house. "Tadaima." She announced, taking off her boots and changing to her slippers, noticing that John's shoes were by the door as well, meaning he was home. She went to her room and put down her stuff, stretching. "Mmmmmph~" She went to her bed and checked on the egg. No change. She pulled the blanket around the egg some more, mostly covering it, then went to the kitchen and turned on the kettle for tea.

John nearly leaped out of his skin when Itsuki had announced that she had arrived at the house. "Shit!" He hissed. He could swear that his heart nearly jumped into his throat. "I could have swore she would be home later! What if she sees this egg?" John looked down to his bundled egg, and frantically attempted to hide it under his blankets. He did not want Itsuki to become suspicious due to a lack of response, so he decided to shout out for her to hear him. "Okaeri Nasai!" He responded to her announcement of arrival.
John sighed and began the process of calming himself down. "It's okay, it's okay." He said in a hushed tone. "As long as she upholds the privacy agreement, everything's going to be fine." He looked down to where he hid his Digimon's egg once more. "But when you hatch, it might get more complicated than that."
With that, John decided to make his way downstairs in order to greet Itsuki personally. It was once he made it to the first floor of the house when he made his way into the kitchen. Seeing Itsuki at the kitchen counter making tea brought a smile to his face. Not just because he was making tea, but because John enjoyed his company. "How was work?" He asked in a friendly manner. "You're home early. I take it you took an earlier shift or something?"

Itsuki finished making her tea and looked over as John came in the room. "Ah yes, a coworker asked me to trade with them so they could on a date. I left a note, did you not get it then?" She slid a piece of paper that was on the counter closer to him. She blinked then realized something. "Ah. I wrote it in kanji and hiragana. I didn't even think to ask you if you could read that." She bowed slightly. "I'm very sorry. I'll try to write in English next time." She felt like an idiot. What good would the note have done if he couldnt read it!
She straightened. "Work was good though, I had dinner there. Lot of couples and families coming for dinner tonight, so hopefully my wages will be good. How was your walk in the forest? Did you see any interesting animals?" She tilted her head, unsure if the forest shared any common animals with the area he came from.

As the question about interesting animals fell upon his ears, John almost froze immediately out of fear. 'Crap, what do I say?' He thought to himself as a blank expression befell his face. He certainly didn't want to lie to Itsuki, because he felt like he was beginning to become great friends with him. "Umm...Interesting animals?" He repeated, unsure of how he should answer. While he trusted Itsuki, John didn't want to risk revealing the existence of Digimon to her.
"Oh! I did meet a new friend and her pet rabbit!" John wasn't necessarily lying when he said this. After all, the Kyaromon he had met in the forest today /did/ have a striking resemblance to a white and purple bunny rabbit. The words that Maia had spoken to him made John realize that he had to be cautious about keeping Digimon a secret. There was no telling if Itsuki would report John to somebody and end up having his egg taken away. "But uh...Other than that, I did get to see a few birds."
John placed his right hand against the back of his head and offered a somewhat nervous chuckle. "Nothing out of the ordinary, though. My trip to the forest was pretty uneventful aside from that."

Itsuki blinked as he stuttered through his answer. She shrugged it off though. "That's good. Glad you had a good day though. Were you able to eat lunch? We have eggs, I could make tamagoyaki if you'd like a snack?" She went over to the fridge and looked over at John.
While waiting for his response, she talked about her day. "I got to relax for a bit before I got the call to come in for work. Work went quickly and I got to eat at work so that was nice. I guess the only thing out of the ordinary was my IC card got declined once at the terminal. Odd response from the terminal though. Instead of just saying "0.00", it was a random sequence of 0's and 1's. So very strange. I should ask an attendant if it happens again." She mused.

John shook his head slightly at Itsuki's question regarding food. A warm smile spread across his lips befoe he would respond. "No thank you, Itsuki. I picked up a Bento Box like you suggested. It was actually pretty good! But nothing beats your cooking." He chuckled softly at his own remark. But now, he became a little concerned when Itsuki mentioned what happened to her at the station.
"Your IC card got declined, huh?" He repeated back to her. "That's a bit unsettling. But at least it was nothing permanent. But that code you mentioned seems pretty weird. Hopefully something like that doesn't happen again. I would check your account balance to make sure your account wasn't hacked or anything."
A soft smile returned to John's expression. "Oh, and don't worry about writing notes in Kanji. I should start learning how to read the local writing properly, anyway. Do you think you'd be willing to tutor me?"

Itsuki smiled. "Glad you liked the bento." She moved away from the fridge and sat on the couch. "Of course, I'd be happy to help you learn. I may even have some of my old school work books." Granted, they were from elementary school, but he'd have to start somewhere. She thought about the egg in her room. "Oh, you know its getting pretty late. I think I'll head to bed. See you in the morning? I don't have work tomorrow, so maybe I can take you sight seeing or something. How does that sound?" She asked, making her way to the hallway that connected to her room.

John thought that it was rather odd for Itsuki to be turning in so early in the evening. After all it was a quarter to five according to his phone's clock. "Oh, okay." He responded. "Sure! Sightseeing sounds like a lot of fun. And thanks for offering lessons. I really appreciate it. Have a good night, Itsuki!"
John watched as his friend made his way to his own room. Once Itsuki was out of sight, John decided himself that heading in to bed early wouldn't be such a bad idea. The blonde-haired man decided to head to the shower so that he could become clean for the next day. After he had completed his shower, John made his way upstairs and entered his bathroom to complete his dental needs. Now that everything was taken care of, John entered his bedroom.
It was inside his room where he found the round lump under the bed covers. "Oh good. It's still here." He sighed with relief and closed his door. Without wasting any more time, John changed into his pajamas. The idea of resting in bed for the rest of the day was definitely appealing to him. John pulled back the covers to reveal the egg, and carefully slid into bed alongside it. He reached for the egg, and pulled it into a cuddling position.
"Miss me, bud?" John cooed to the egg. It was strange, he could have swore that he just felt the egg wobble slightly in response to his words. "Did it just move?" Now that John continued to observe the egg and concentrate on it, he would notice that the egg in fact felt warmer than it did before. "Huh. You must be ready to hatch soon, huh?"
As John continued to snuggle with his DigiEgg, a wave of drowsiness began to overtake him. He wasn't sure why he was getting so sleepy. But he could only guess that it was due to the warmth of his egg. Not seeing any sense in staying up for a few more hours, John gave in to the Sand Man's wishes. A yawn managed to find it's way past his lips while he closed his eyes. And within a few minutes, John was taken into the embrace of his slumber.

Itsuki knew it was a bit early, but she wanted to check on the egg. She went to her room and changed out of her normal clothes, into a loose t-shirt and some sweatpants. She sat on her bed and uncovered the egg. It didnt look any different than when she left it, maybe a little bit warmer, but it had been under her blanket the whole time. Well, in any case, it didn't look like it was about to hatch. Itsuki went to the bathroom downstairs and did her nightly routine of brushing her teeth, using the toilette, and checking to make sure the door was locked before she came back to her room. She turned off her light and climbed into her bed, settling under the covers. She held the egg to her chest and closed her eyes, falling asleep.
Several hours later, the clock on the wall read 6am, Itsuki was awoken by the sound of scritching noises. Itsuki rubbed her eyes, sat up, and turned on her desk lamp. She looked around for the source of this noise, but couldn't see anything out of place. She was about to chalk it up to her imagination when something moved in her arms. She looked down at the egg, only to discover crack lines in it. She started to panic. Did she accidentally roll over onto it? But looking closer, she noticed that these cracks seem to have come from the inside. "It's....it's hatching?!" She said to herself, surprised. With a final, and louder, CRACK! the egg broke into two. A yellow dandelion looking head with ruby eyes and a leaf like tail was staring at her. "Po po?" It seemed to ask. Itsuki blinked then crawled backwards on her bed quickly. "Na-na-nani sore?!" She exclaimed, then clapped her hands over her mouth. John was sleeping. She hoped she hadn't woken him...
"Po po po!" The small dandelion...thing.... bounced towards her, eyes crinkled in what seemed to be a smile, though a mouth wasn't quite visible. It rubbed its face against her outstretched hand. "Why are you so attached to me so suddenly?" She asked the little one, then the documentary she was watching earlier came back to her. When a baby bird hatches, it imprints on the first thing it sees as it's mother. While she wasn't so sure this hatchling was a bird, she assumed this is what had happened. Hesitantly, she started to pet its head. Well, the top of it, it seemed to be all head and a little tail. The little thing bounced up and down slightly, eyes closed and tail wagging slightly. Itsuki chuckled, she had to admit, it was pretty cute.
She looked at the clock again. It was almost seven now. She guessed she might as well get up and make breakfast. She looked at the hatchling, who had settled down and was sitting next to her, watching her. "Well, I don't think John-san will be up anytime soon. You can come with me to make breakfast." "Po!" It answered her. She picked the round, yellow fuzzball up and headed to the kitchen. Setting the dandelion thing on the counter, she decided to make a western breakfast and got out bread, eggs, vanilla, and syrup. As she was cracking the eggs into the bowl, she wondered what the thing ate. Would she have to get a certain type of pet food? Pet....food..... She suddenly froze and looked at the creature. "My no pet condition!" She said in a slightly horrified voice. What was she going to do? She had told him no pets! Now, here she was with a pet, an unidentifiable type sure, but still a pet! She wondered if she could take it to a shelter....but then she saw those big ruby eyes looking at her with trust and her heart melted. Of course she couldn't. This thing, this baby, trusted her.
Itsuki resumed making breakfast. Who knows....maybe John wouldn't notice? Or at the very least, maybe she could hide the little tanpopo until she had a chance to talk to him and see how he felt about it first.

Meanwhile, by the time that Itsuki's own egg began to hatch at 6:00 AM, John was still sound asleep. However, the sudden outburst from Itsuki downstairs stirred him from his dream. "Huh?" He rubbed the sleep from his eyes. "What's going on?" He asked to no one in particular in a tired voice. But before he could get out of bed to investigate, a sudden cracking noise got his attention. The egg that John held against him began to wobble, with a new crack appearing on the shell every three seconds. "What? It's hatching?!"
Within a matter of seconds, the egg shell broke in half across it's width. Residing inside the remaining shell casing that rested on John's lap was the most adorable little black creature that anyone could ever lay eyes on. "Bo, Bo!" It chirped. As soon as John's eyes met with the cute yellow eyes of the freshly hatched Digimon, his heart melted from the sheer charm of this baby. "Aw! How cute! And who are you, little guy?" "Bo!" It exclaimed with excitement. This didn't exactly help John, which made him a tad bit confused. "Hm. Where is my..." He trailed off while he reached for the Digivice on his end table near the bed.
John remembered what Maia and Kyaromon had said the other day about scanning Digimon with the Digivice he received when he first got his egg. He now held it up to the baby. Almost as if on cue, the screen lit up with a little animated version of the baby Digimon. "Botamon." An electronic voice hummed. "A fresh-level digimon of the Slime type." John set the device back on his bed and returned his attention to the Botamon. "Botamon, huh? Hmm. Well, I think I know of something better to call you." John picked up the black furry baby. He couldn't get over those adorable eyes! "How about I call you...Casimier?" In response to the name, the Botamon became elated. "Bo! Bo Bo!" It gleefully shouted. And to this, John couldn't help but chuckle. He happily nuzzled his right cheek against the Botamon, who snuggled against him in return.
John's stomach began to rumble out of nowhere. "Ugh..." He sheepishly looked down to his stomach. "Oh man, it's probably time for breakfast by now." He looked to Casimier, now. "Well, Itsuki's probably still asleep. We can go downstairs and grab some breakfast. It's probably safe to be carrying you around in the open. She'd kill me if she discovered our little secret." Unable to wait any longer, John cradled Casimier and headed downstairs. He was more focused on the Botamon than on his surroundings, so he did not realize that Itsuki was already in the kitchen.
However; the sweet aroma of vanilla caused John to freeze. "Bo?" Casimier cooed in confusion. But John was not paying attention to the Botamon. Instead, his eyes were locked on Itsuki. He gritted his teeth now that his Digimon had called out to him. He reacted quickly by covering the Botamon's mouth with his left hand. 'Oh no! I hope Itsuki didn't hear him!' That thought constantly ran through his mind as he prayed that Itsuki didn't hear his Botamon!

Itsuki had just finished making the french toast and put it on a plate besides the small fluffball when she heard a sound. "Bo?" She looked at the small yellow creature, but it seemed to be asleep, or at least had it eyes closed. So, it wasn't him who made the sound... She looked around but didnt see anything until she turned around. The color drained from her face slightly. "John-san! W-w-w-what are you doing up so early?" She asked nervously, trying to move in front of the small tanpopo so as to hide it. She blinked in surprise when she saw what was in his hands. with one hand covering part of its face. It looked similar to the one that had hatched from her egg.
While reaching behind her back to try an find the little one, she looked at John. "You know, ever since you've been here, things have been weird! I mean, what is that thing anyway?!" She pointed at the black fur ball with one hand, the other still trying to find her small creature. Where was that thing?! She got her answer a minute later.
"Po! Po!" Her own fluff ball was hopping around on the counter, its fur fluffed out and eyes wide. It was knocking over pots and pans. It even sent Itsuki's breakfast to the floor, though amazingly, it handed plate side down. It seemed very nervous and scared of the other fluff ball. Itsuki picked it up and pet its head, and it started to calm down. She sighed and her shoulders sagged. "I guess....we both have some explaining to do, huh?" She put one hand behind her head, grinning sheepishly.
