^Of course I remember our first meeting, Pure. Due to my nature, as far as that time of my existence is concerned I do not remember anything *but* our first meeting clearly.
I am simply saying... by this point I would hope you were more tolerant to weirdness.^
Sanoske shrugged. It had been a while since that meeting, indeed. But Sanoske, at that time, was never fully self-aware if he was alone, and thus never remember large chunks of his life before traveling with Crystal.
That squirrel seem to be trying to figure out... something. Did he suspect they were lying? Sanoske sighed and began to actually speak.
Do not havre me sspeak ourt lourd... please, Puure... forr meer?

Did Sanoske really just speak? "Fine Sanoske. I'll... speak to it." Pure said with a sigh of defeat. It appeared he no longer had any other choice on the matter. Not if Sanoske being so desperate that he actually attempted to speak normally.
"I have no idea what to say though. If only Crys were here. She'd probably would know what to talk about in this situation. She would probably even begin reading a dictionary aloud just to expand it's vocabulary." Pure paused to think for a second before inspiration struck. "Wait. I think I have an idea."
Pure turned towards Ratatoskr with an audible gulp. He still didn't like the idea of having that thing use his voice, but he was now in a rock and a hard place. Then with one final deep breath, he began reciting the alphabet. He figured it would be better to give Ratatoskr the building bocks to spell out what he wants to say then just giving him a random grab bag of words.

Ratatoskr understood what the small Digimon was trying to do. Or so he thought. Individual letters, simple sounds that could be strong together to make words. Words that the former messenger sorely lacked. It could actually work! But... What did these two get out of it? Ratatoskr glared suspiciously. Surely they were not trying to increase his vocabulary simply to converse with him? Were they trying to keep him here for various nefarious purposes? The creature took a step back in fear.Trust... Was not exactly his strong suit.
The staticky noise began again as the creature began to speak. "W" More static. "h" Static. "o" a short pause, then the static came again. "a" By now, the harsh grating noise that proceeded every letter would be starting to grate on people's nerves. "r" It might be wise to interrupt out of sheer annoyance. What he is trying to say should be obvious, anyways.

Pure finally went to try to aid the squirrel in his attempt to speak with them. Sanoske was prepared to do it himself but he was glad that at least Pure went and spoke. Since Sanoske talking "normally" was slow, Pure would be able to quickly talk to him.
At least, until Pure started reciting the alphabet. He didn't say anything, but mentally he merely went "Oh no...". Had this been someone else Sanoske would have thought he did that on purpose.
But he got the jist of what Ratat was saying, holding his hand out and shaking his head.
^Okay, I get it. You want to know who we are. We are no one special, though. Pure is... Pure. And I am...^Garrrooo.... ^Well, as many digimon I have told or had find out... I guess there is no need to be coy with it... I am a sentient illusion... as hard to believe as it may seem.^
The large Gazimon shrugged. Between Crystal, Pure, everyone connected with the portal's construction, Lilly and her family, Ghost, Beverly, That Guilmon, Rolento, Pata, and Catch, more than enough digimon knew something of Sanoske's unique origins. Why actively keep it a secret from one digimon when he had told so many others?

Perhaps not one of Pure's brightest moments. In theory his plan should have given Ratatoskr all the tools he would need to communicate, and in a way it did. There was just one major drawback to his plan. That grating static noise it made in between every letter. If Sanoske thought it was bad, he'd only need to remember that Pure's ears were much more sensitive then his.
What is with all this racket? Pure heard a voice yell with in his mind, I thought you were going fishing. Not start messing around with badly damaged audio equipment.
And just like that, Pure's one day off from the Hylden went out the window. Perhaps the Terriermon should stop getting his hopes up on having a peaceful day. Everytime he seems to come close to having one, something completely random must come along and ruin it for him. Is this some form of revenge or something like that?
So then. Would you care to explain what exactly is going on here with that squirrel, or should I just take over and ask Sanoske?
Pure mentally sighed. That's what we are trying to figure out. Sanoske fished it out of the lake, and it seems to require recordings of other voices to speak. So I decided to sing the alphabet...
And it decided to call you a whore.
Whore? Where did that come from?[/i]
Is that not what he was trying to spell?
No. I think he was trying to spell 'Who are...' as in 'Who are you?' At least that's my guess based on what Sanoske just said.
Huh... Is that so? Because it sounded like he was...
Aren't you suppose to be a scientist of some kind or something? Can you not spell? He said W-H-O-A-R.
I only just woke up. You should be impressed I caught on to any of the letters he said at all. Especially with all that incessant static it made. Besides who is to say that that wasn't what the rat was calling and he was just bad at spelling. You haven't been doing anything while I've been asleep have you?
Not in the way your implying. Pure thought as he was slightly taken back by the question. Was Mel just messing with him, or was that actually suppose to be a legitimate question? It was hard to tell with Mel sometimes.

^Illusion^ Ratatoskr repeated, after his usual bout of static. What did that mean? Why would this Digimon refer to himself as such? Ratatoskr... Vaguely understood the concept of an illusion. He thought. Or maybe not. This was all, very confusing. From them not attacking... To this. And the one called Pure... It had seemingly stopped talking. What was it doing? Plotting? Despite everything... Ratatoskr was not able to bring himself to trust these two. But even should he try to delve into their motives... They had their 'fishing' story to fall back on. "What do you mean" Perhaps it was due to his relatively new sentience... But Ratatoskr found that there was much he did not understand.

Sanoske rubbed his head, not exactly up to getting too deep in his backstory in any way... but he, too, was a bit too used to doing this, at least to some degree. He did not want to get into talking about his creator.
^I am a sentient, solid mental projection. I am not an actual digimon, per se. Just a fake one.^ He was glad Crystal wasn't here. While he was infinitely grateful that Crystal loved and treated him as if he was a real digimon, Sanoske always saw himself as a fake. At the very least, that little squirrel couldn't ask about Byakko... even thinking of that name made Sanoske feel bad...
^I would rather not get into specifics. Anyway... is that satisfactory enough?^

Pure remained quiet as Sanoske and Ratatoskr converse. He just had nothing to add to the conversation on hand. He could mention something about Mel to the squirrel, but that didn't seem to be a good idea right now. Sanoske had just explained what exactly he is, and Pure suspected it'd be some time before Ratatoskr fully understood. The squirrel didn't seem to know what fishing is after all. How would it react if Pure basically told him that he had another digimon living inside his body?
I don't know. Though it would be interesting to find out, wouldn't it? Mel mentioned with what Pure would suspect was a devious smile if Mel could smile right now.
No. It will not. I rather not anger the strange squirrel thing any more then we already have."
It doesn't look all that angry to me. Just confused. Like a child who lost it's mother in the mall. Just... Without all the crying.
Is that so? He doesn't look all that lost to me. It's a metaphor you idiot. It was meant to show just how confused he appears to be. If you really must be the good guy then try to remain patient with him. Mel suggested with a mental shrug, Though I personally think we should just punt him and be done with it. I'm growing tired of that annoying static noise he keeps on making.

Ratatoskr paused. By now, I expect it is understood that every speech segment is preceeded by static, and thus unecessary to mention every time.^fake one.^ A short pause, then, ^I am^ Pure would be left out of this side of the conversation, as the creature was forced to resort to using this illusion's words, stored in his audio files. ^Also.^ It was tricky to pick out, mix and match words to say want he wanted. Lacking audio beyond his recording software was... More than a little inconvenient. It was fortunate that Ratatoskr was even able to convey it this well.
As for why he admitted his own sense of being fake, well... Assuming that this illusion was truly an illusion as he claimed, Ratatoskr felt a sense of kinship. He was not the only one who was wrong, who was not real. He did not dare to dream it was true... But at the same time, he did not want it to be a lie. But how would these two react to his claim?

^You are... a fake digimon as well?^ Sanoske seemed quite intrigued at this notion. He then chuckled a bit, talking to himself out loud more than the Squirrel in front of him.
^First Ghost, now you. It seems I am becoming less unique as time goes on.^
Turning to Pure, he paused as it looked like he was thinking of something... or talking to Mel. If the latter... it was unfortunate, however it didn't look like Mel was in control. Still, this information was pretty amazing!
^Did you catch that, Pure? This guy is also a fake digimon. Another sentient illusion...
Or do you disbelieve him like you did when you first met me?^ He said that last bit in a teasing way. ^If you still have your doubts I can prove I am an illusion.^

That's it. Mel said annoyed, All this thing is doing now is growling and making that annoying static noise. It's time that I got rid of him.
No. Are you crazy? We still don't know what this thing is. Pure rebuked as a mental tug of war began between him and Mel.
Fortunately the struggle didn't last all that long when both of them became distracted by what Sanoske just said. Neither of them knowing exactly what the giant gazimon was going on about.
"What... What are you going on about Sanoske? All we heard was growling and static noises. What do you mean he's an illusion too?" Pure stated as he looked at the illusionary gazimon puzzled.
I think your friend there is going insane. Perhaps we should put him out of his misery as well. Mel advised.
Good Yggdrasil. Your being a lot more violent today then usually. Don't tell me you already forgot what Vetina told you.
Yeah yeah. I know. I was just kidding. The last thing I need is the fallout trying to pull something that stupid would cause. Geez... You really need to stop taking everything I say so seriously.

It was clear that this Digimon had misunderstood something. Ratatoskr drawled his memory banks for an explanation- But found none. He was forced to settle for, "not" "an" "illusion" But... The words for what he was could not be found. To be fair... Ratatoskr himself was only half clear on what he was. He was wrong. A mistake. An accident. ^Fake^ That much was certain. If only there was a way to communicate what he was... But before that... ^Prove^ If it were not a recording, a curious hint would have been obvious in the single word Ratotoskr spoke. How could this being possibly prove itself to be an illusion?

^Oh, I apologize for the misuse of semantics. I guess you are closer to being an actual digimon than I am, then.
Maybe he is a construct, Pure. Kind of like... Tab's spare body. With is own will, I guess. Anyway...^
Sanoske took a couple steps away from the others before going on all fours. Laying down, he opened up his mouth wide for Ratatoskr and Pure to see.
And see they... wouldn't. Beyond his mouth there was nothing, not even an esophagus. It just all went into this dark-purpleish void. Even with his mouth open, Sanoske began to growl again, still as understanable as usual.
^There is data inside me that, at will, aids in breaking down physical material over a period of time that allows me to maintain this form... usually food, although I have eaten dirt more than once. But aside from that my body is very much just a mere shell. Were either of you inclined to walk inside, you can walk around a fair bit. But I doubt that.
In any case, no organs, no muscles, no bones. ^

((Just like to point out that I don't believe Pure has said not out loud yet or at least I can't find where he did say it XP))
So the squirrel wasn't an illusion then? Pure was completely confused at what exactly was going on now. It didn't help that the squirrel switch back to those growls Sanoske made. Sanoske seemed to be able to make sense of them, or at least Pure guessed he could. So the question now was why he couldn't?
It's like staring at a black hole. Mel commented within Pure's mind, I wonder what if we could him as a garbage disposal.
I don't think he would appreciate that much.
Sanoske then opened his mouth wide for some reason. Pure instinctively moved his face away expecting to smell bad breath. Yet he didn't. So he took deep breath and forced himself to look into Sanoske's maw. Within he saw... Nothing. Absolutely nothing.
Sanoske then went on to explain a bit more about his existence. Pure would have to admit that he would have never of guessed that the illusion was so empty inside. He wondered a little if Crystal knew anything about this.
"Yeah. I think I'll pass. I rather not be eaten today." Pure commented on Sanoske's offer. Looking was enough for the Terriermon for now.
And probably for the rest of his life.

((It was in your last post on page one, 'if not for Crys being there'))
Ratatoskr did not know what he was looking at, but he understood one thing. This creature was telling the truth. He was an illusion... However that worked. At least... His own situation, he understood. An unknown program had come into contact with him, altering the very structure of his existence. Sentience was just a byproduct of that. An unwanted one. An undesirable byproduct of a spontaneous event. He, for one, hated it. "pass." the creature agreed.
But he was still left with the dilemma of how to communicate what he was. "audio file not found" "audio file not found" Of course there were no audio files. He himself wasn't even sure what he was trying to say... But the stock audio sounds gave him the vaguest hinting of an idea. Surely, not finding an audio file couldn't be the only one. Surely... Aha!
"Unit report: Level: Drone. Classification: Messenger. Designation: Ratatoskr. Current status: Malfu..." The voice, whoever it belonged to, garbled off. Perhaps the file was damaged, or perhaps it was a belated and subconscious effort by the former message drone to hide his shame at being a malfunctioning unit. But hey, at least now he had a name, even if the rest probably meant approximately zip to the other two.
