Darkness Abounds (Alicia/Maia) (H-Spirit Hunt)

"Well... we're getting closer at least." Alicia mused softly as she led Maia and Kuu deep into the woods that had been indicated by her D-Scanner. "It stopped moving so hopefully whatever grabbed it has gone to sleep so we can just slip in, swipe it, and get out without any trouble..."
Alicia's thought process for going after the Spirit that was moving around was rather sound. The stationary one obviously wasn't going anywhere, so she could afford to burn some time looking for this one instead since she'd be certain as to where the other was. Hopefully with the stationary one all she'd have to deal with are some traps to get in and out.
"Kid, you and I both know that it is unlikely things are going to go that smoothly. Gear yourself up for trouble." Sol commented. Alicia only offered a sigh in return.
"You holding up alright there, Maia, Kuu?" The spirit user asked, glancing over her shoulder to look at the Tamer and Digimon that had chosen to accompany her on this trip.

They were getting closer? Oh, good. Walking through the woods, making sure to stay close to Alicia, the girl could find herself easily getting lost in this place. At least they didn't seem to be too badly so yet. Things could be worse. At least they weren't in a creepy cave or something. Or, like Alicia's prior instance, on top of a Trailmon. That would be awful! Then again, there was still time.
Hearing the question, Maia picked up her speed to walk closer to the redhead, "oh, yeah. We're doing great," she murmured. Yeah. Great. Surrounded by trees. Nothing bad had happened, so it was still pretty great. Maybe this spirit hunting adventure would be easy! ...Probably not. Keep up the wishful thinking. After all, the girl hadn't been on one of these trips yet, let alone this deep into the woods! Sure, the forest outside of her house was one thing, but one in the Digital World? That just felt a little more sketchy.
"I like trees," the pipefox responded, rather than giving a proper answer to the question. "One day, I will be big enough to eat them." The tone used almost sounded like the Digimon was in a trance-of-sorts, imagining all of the things he could do if he was large enough to eat a tree. While it would be great for fiber, Maia really hoped that he never got huge enough for something like that to be an option.
"Any idea of how much farther we'll have to go to find your spirit thing?" Not that Maia was anxious at all. No. It couldn't be that.

"In what little experience I have with this stuff, finding it is the easy part. Actually getting it, on the other hand, is whole different can of worms to deal with. Like with the Trailmon thing I mentioned. The spirit was lodged in the ceiling of a tunnel. Isaac had to use his Impmon form to fly me up there so I could break it out. Then there was the fi-" Whatever Alicia was going to say next was cut off. "Kid, dodge left!" Sol abruptly shouted, shaking her from her conversation. Seeing as the order was so abrupt, and she'd already built up a fair amount of trust for the Steel Spirit, Alicia practically threw herself in the indicated direction. It was the only thing that saved her from having a limb chomped off by a rather angry looking bear that was suddenly there when mere moments before the makeshift path was clear. How had something so large managed to appear so abruptly? Especially with a fox Digimon around to sniff such things out? "What in blazes!?" Alicia shouted to herself as she scrambled to her feet. The Gryzmon growled, coming fully into sight with a number of noticeable scars. Further more, closer inspection showed the bear Digimon's fur was heavily matted with dirt and certain kinds of vegetation, a common tactic to mask one's scent. "Che, figures." Alicia's spirit spat irritably. "We're dealing with a blasted ninja village near by, this is one of their guardsmen." Well at least he was being more openly helpful this time around. "Now, knowing your luck, where do you think the Spirit is?"Alicia face palmed, needing no words to answer Sol, and pulled out her D-Scanner. "I cast off the rusted shell... Spirit Evolution!" With the code appearing around her hand, Alicia swiped her scanner and was enveloped in energized light. A brief moment later, as the cocoon faded, the human was gone. In her place, the mechanized dragon stood tall and proud. "Steeldramon!" In response, Gryzmon reared up on his hind legs and roared, raising his forepaws high in an attempt at intimidation. Alicia wouldn't be moved however, but would Maia and Kuu be so steadfast?

Maia was listening to the story, when it cut abruptly. "Wha-?" Suddenly, a bear was visible. How had he gone unnoticed? At least Alicia had somehow known to move! It probably had to do with her having a spirit in her head, or something. Good thing it hadn't happened to the only full-human in the area, considering Kuu had been completely off-guard!
Snapping from his daydream, he only noticed the sudden intrusion at the same time as everyone else. Ears flattened, looking at the beast, "no fair. You tricked me," he accused, seemingly not phased by any of this. If his tamer hadn't felt him tense up, she'd have assumed he honestly wasn't concerned about the Gryzmon. Before the fox could say or do anything else, Alicia had transformed into a Digimon, causing him to suddenly gain more interest in her. "Wow! That's awesome looking!" he squealed, clearly fanfoxing again. Hopefully, he was taking this seriously!
His tamer was busy trying to figure out what to do about all of this. Out of habit, she pulled out her Digivice, getting a read on the bear. "Gryzmon. Champion," she mumbled, not finding the time to skim through any other information that the device had about the creature. It was plenty of information to know that at least Kuu was a lower level. She wasn't entirely sure where a Spirit User stood on that totem, though.
With the roar of the monster, one foot instinctively slid back, but Maia found herself refusing to move. No, running wouldn't help. She told Alicia that they'd join her. To just disappear after that would be horrible. Still, one couldn't be too careful. After all, the tamer was squishy and certainly not a Digimon. She didn't want a repeat of what happened to Kai with herself. Unlike his tamer's response, the pipefox took a couple steps down his tamer's chest, preparing to jump off if necessary. Still tensed, a low growl emitted from the Rookie's throat in response. Well, it looked like nobody was going to back down now, were they?

The large bear snarled and lunged, swinging a paw at the Spirit User since she was closer. Alicia wasn't about to get taken off guard quite so easily though. Flinging her white chain up, she wrapped it around a branched and pulled herself up and out of the way, leaving Gryzmon to slam down on the ground with no real effect.
Seeing the Steeldramon evade so easily, though, left the bear to decide what to do, try and chase Alicia or go after the easier targets of Maia and Kuu. The answer was obvious in his mind, as he shifted to take a swipe at the Tamer. It wasn't like a Rookie could do much to him after all, right?
What he didn't count on was for Alicia to be able to turn her dodge into an almost immediate counter attack. With the abundance of branches to latch on to, the Steeldramon had an easy time swinging herself about and pick up significant speed. Off from the side, opposite of where Alicia had been earlier, the Spirit User swooped in and dive kicked the Gryzmon's face.
The strike itself didn't actually push the bear back, but the pain of having one's nose smashed in by their opponent's foot certainly had an appreciable affect, the Gryzmon growled angrily but was forced to back off, clutching his face with one paw. Alicia took the moment to recreate a trick she'd made back during the battle with Ferrus the Mekanorimon and Ulysses the NiseAgumon Hakase.
"Chain Lasher, Shot Blade!" She called, swinging her chain out and spitting a few daggers into the links. Bladed whip in hand, she cracked it towards the Gryzmon. Unfortunately for her, this time it wasn't nearly so useful. Her furry foe caught the chain in his maw, a clever twist of the body leaving the blades unable to bite into his flesh. The Steeldramon's eyes went wide, and Alicia only had a moment to mutter "Uh oh..." before she was yanked towards the bear.
"Rrrrrgh, Maul Attack!" Gryzmon roared, slamming Alicia down into the ground with a paw to her back. The second paw raised up, aimed to deliver a devastating strike to the recovering Steeldramon's neck.

Frozen for a moment, Maia found herself unable to even move back from the potential attack. Seconds before Kuu could react, Alicia had already beat him to it. It was a good thing, too, because he wasn't entirely sure that he could do anything to keep his tamer safe! Regaining her senses, the blonde rapidly took several steps back, but refused to look away from the bear. If she did, she'd be in just as bad of a situation as seconds ago. The girl really had to learn some way to keep herself safe in these situations! Yesterday, Arachnemon. Today, Gryzmon. Maybe the world was telling her to be afraid of bears, too.
There was a deep breath from the tamer, in an attempt to keep her cool. Yeah, maybe she would have been better staying home. She knew she was just going to get in the way! This was terrible! What could a human do to not be so easily killed? She'd have to do some sort of research on the subject, or something. Dragging down everyone around her just didn't feel good at all. Especially because, now, it seemed that the Steeldramon was now the one in trouble. "Oh no," she breathed, trying to think fast. Stretching out her arm, her Kudamon hopped onto it, "help her."
Without needing any further clarification, the Digimon shot across her arm, leaping off and onto the nearest tree branch. From there, the Rookie rushed to the closest branch to the angered bear. "Hey!" Kuu shouted, as he dropped from the tree, trying to use the gravity of the fall to his advantage. After all, being a lower level, he needed as much help as possible to stop the monster from feeling that Alicia needed to be the main target. Whipping his body around, the thick cartridge attached to his tail was targeted toward the Gryzmon's head. "Bullet Whirlwind!" Hopefully a headshot would redirect the Champion's attention!

The falling Rookie whirling around rapidly caught Gryzmon's attention, drawing the bear Digimon to look up just in time to be hammered on the by the cartridge Kuu always had with him. Enraged by the audacity of the attack, the Kudamon succeeded in drawing heat off of Alicia as the bear went to try and swipe at the fox Digimon. Unfortunately for him the paw he had to use was the one pinning his other opponent down.
"Move it kid, Kuu can't hold his attention long!" Sol called, hoping to rouse Alicia to action just a little bit faster. Fortunately he didn't have to, the metal dragon was scrambling to her feet as soon as the weight on her back lifted.
"Rending Claws!" Alicia called, swiping at Gryzmon's hind legs while he was distracted. The bear howled in pain as the steel dug in deep, flesh easily parting under what were effectively built-in daggers. Dashing out from under the Gryzmon's body, Alicia allowed the beast to collapse forward as his hind legs were rendered useless by the assault.
"Come on Maia, I say we live and let live and get passed this guy while he's stuck here. The more time we waste with this guy the worse off we'll be!" With that said, giving the bear Digimon a wide berth, Alicia pressed on towards where the Spirit's signal was pinging from. In a pitiful fashion, the Gryzmon was left ineffectually swiping at targets that were now too far out of his reach. Crippled as he was, Alicia had a point, they didn't have to kill him since he wasn't able to bar their path.

Thankfully, everything worked out how the duo had hoped. Upon connecting, the Digimon bounced off Gryzmon's face with a, "wee!" before bouncing away, intending to land on the ground. A swipe caused him to stumble with this plan, though, as he tumbled to the ground, instead. There was a small groan from the fox, but before anything could actually cause harm, the Steeldramon landed a deep attack on the bear's legs. Ooh. That looked painful. Shaking his head in an attempt to straighten his thoughts, the little monster scurried back to his tamer, waiting at her feet, rather than climbing.
Reaching down, the girl picked him up, while listening to Alicia. Good thing someone had this all under control! "You don't think he'll try to come back after us later, do you?" Maia questioned, warily walking around the bear to follow the young woman. After all, she didn't really want more monsters thinking that her Digimon needed to be put down than necessary.
The tamer wasn't going to argue the stance, though. Sure, the last Digimon that she had dealt with died, but that wasn't by her hands or Kuu's. It was nice to keep that kind of weight off of her shoulders as long as possible. They weren't murderers. Maia wouldn't call themselves heroes, but there was no way she'd rather be called a killer. If at all possible, she never wanted to feel the burden of ending someone else's life, even though Digimon came back to life. If necessary, though, would she be willing to make that call? Wouldn't that kill whatever may be left of her innocence? Or, more importantly, would it eliminate her naive partner's innocence? She didn't want to taint that. He was too sheltered and sweet. It was hard to think about if such a thing would change the little alien.
Still, that brought up a thought that needed to be addressed. Based on Alicia's call this time, it wasn't the case, but the blonde couldn't help but be curious. "Have you... ever had to actually kill a Digimon before?"

"Will he try? Possibly if his legs heal in time. I'm willing to take that chance though." Alicia answered as the moved on, the Steeldramon remaining evolved so that any future potential ambushes wouldn't be quite so devastating if she wasn't paying attention. They were lucky as it was with the Gryzmon.
Now they still had a problem to figure out. Where was the village Sol was talking about earlier? "Hey Sol... any ideas on where we can find that village?" She whispered to her spirit, narrowing her eyes.
"Sorry Alicia, that's something I can't really tell you. Not because you need a challenge, but because I honestly do not know. Ninjas have all sorts of methods to hide away and I can only do so much from here." The Steeldramon figured that she should've expected that. They'd be pretty poor ninjas if just anybody could discover their village.
Then she noticed Maia ask that rather difficult question, causing the Spirit User to pause. "Have I had to kill? No, thankfully." She began, sounding hesitant. There was more to the answer then just that though. "But... There was a moment where I was about to do so by choice. Seeing Isaac and Elliot get thrown off the Trailmon at high speeds left me in a very bad state of mind. In the end my Spirit had to talk me down before I did something I would've regretted for the rest of my life."
Hanging her head low, the Steeldramon closed her eyes and clenched a fist. She tried hard to bury that particular memory as it was still a rather sore spot for her to think of. Still, with Maia going out of her way to help like this, Alicia figured the Tamer deserved the full truth when such a hard question was posed. "It... wasn't one of my brighter days..." she finished, then checked her D-Scanner. They were almost on top of her next Spirit now but no village in sight.
It was a question of who of the three would notice the odd, artificial marks on five trees laid out in front of them first, if any at all.

Continuing to follow Alicia, the tamer decided to just hope that the Gryzmon wouldn't heal very quickly. How fast did Digimon heal, anyway? Hopefully, if it did heal, it would just decide to leave them be. After all, if the two Digimon in the party were able to disable the bear so quickly, it wouldn't think to come after them to try it again, would it? It was really hard to tell.
The hesitation in the Steeldramon's voice made Maia question the truth behind the answer. But, she wasn't going to press the subject. After all, it wasn't something that humans would often want to admit to. But, then there was an elaboration that made it all make more sense. "Wait, what? They got thrown off the train?" Eyes were wide from both tamer and partner, as they imagined a situation like that.
Kuu seemed to find this far more exciting than Maia did. "They're so cool. Trailmon fights, being thrown off of Trailmons! That's so awesome. I knew they were cool. I knew you're cool, too." The fox began to ramble of how awesome all of this was, continuing to spout out nonsense about the reasons why the brothers and Alicia were amazing. His tamer wasn't really paying much mind to it after a short while, though.
It seemed like admitting to what happened had stressed out the spirit user. There was no way to deny that it would have been a hard call for anyone to make. "You did the right thing, though," the blonde murmured. "I probably would have thought about doing the same thing." Except, Maia didn't have a voice in her head telling her not to do it, and Kuu probably would do anything that the tamer asked in an instance like that.
Opening her mouth to speak again, Maia found herself closing it just as quickly, as the pipefox leaped off of her shoulder, bounding toward some trees. "These look cool, too!" Kuu shouted, using his tail to motion at the marks on one of the trees. "What's it mean? Do you think we can eat it?"

The Steeldramon shook her head a bit vigorously, sighing as she put that bit of chatting behind her. It wouldn't do to let herself get dragged down by past demons one something so important after all. Though hearing Maia mutter that she would've considered doing the same thing... Alicia wasn't sure if that scared her or reassured her that she wasn't a bad person for having a moment where the primary emotion driving her was a pure, burning hatred for someone else.
Kuu took the moment to break the ice by pointing out the odd markings on one of the trees. Snapping to the discovery, the Spirit User tilted her head. "Well, I don't think we can eat it Kuu. Considering it's, you know, a tree." Alicia pointed out in a matter-of-fact fashion. Still, the marking was odd, so Alicia took the moment to scan the other trees, locating the other four easily enough now that she knew there was something odd going on.
Each mark seemed to be almost like a target carved into the given trees. A rather faint one at that, something that would take either careful observation to notice or, in this case, a scatter brain running off on a tangent and just happening to find it. Fortunate in their case, it seemed. "This... is rather odd." the Steeldramon mused. "Each of these five has like a little... a slot almost for something."
A thought occurred to her, and Alicia moved back a bit until all five marked trees were in clear view. "Maia, duck! I have an idea!" Loosening the white chain so that a considerable amount of it was free, she flicked it up and fired five daggers, locking them into the links. "Sol, if you can help me with the aiming, that would be awesome." she whispered as she started twirling the chain high over her head.
"I see your plan. This has a very low chance of working on its own but... Alright, here's what you need to know to make this work." With that said, he fed her the information she needed to increase her odds of pulling this mad stunt off. Alicia actually started to doubt if what she was thinking of was even possible, but it was worth trying at least once.
"Alright. Now wait for my signal. If we can time this right it should work." Alicia just nodded, checking to make sure Maia had listened to her and gotten herself out of the line of fire one way or another. "Now!"
With a brief shout, Alicia flicked the chain forward in an arc with as much strength as she could, flipping the chain around so that the daggers would be flung from it with the same motion. Five blades were slung towards the five trees, and Alicia listened closely. As she heard each blade hit its mark almost simultaneously, the Steeldramon openly smirked before sighing. "Wow... I don't think I can manage that again. Hopefu-" The world was out to interrupt her as much as possible today it seemed.
The ground shook and crumbled, as the five trees actually started sliding back a bit to create a clearing in the forest. Apparently those weren't just artificially marked, they were themselves fakes built to hide some kind of contraption. The ground of the clearing then started to sink down, forming stairs leading into the earth. Peering inside, Alicia gasped in surprise. While she had gotten a heads up from her Spirit that a ninja village was in the area, she never anticipated she'd actually see what was clearly an underground establishment.
"... Freaking ninjas, man..." Alicia mused. "I suppose that explains the literal 'Bear Trap' that almost got me, huh?" A pun? In this situation? Maybe Maia should be worried a bit that Alicia was the one not taking this as seriously as she should be. "Anyways, the signal's coming from down there so... in we go I suppose!"
Her piece said, the Steeldramon started cautiously making her way down the steps towards the underground village. Hopefully it would be smooth sailing from here.

The fox digimon sniffed toward the tree, ears drooping slightly, "but..." Kuu paused, trying to think of some sort of logical argument. Nope, logic wasn't his strong point, it seemed. After a moment, the rookie's ears drooped a little, letting out a heavy sigh. Slowly, the monster would draw out a, "fine." He guessed he wouldn't try to eat any trees today.
"D-duck?" the tamer questioned, rather suddenly. What was she ducking from? Best not to question it. Taking the advice, Maia hurried out of the way of whatever was going to happen, and crouched behind an unmarked tree. This was hopefully a safe option. Kuu found himself scurrying to Maia's side, to make sure that she would be alright. What kind of idea did the redhead have now? Despite hearing the sounds of Alicia, a whip of a chain, and thudding against wood, Maia made it a point not to look up until the woman began talking. Except, now the ground was shaking. Oooh. That wasn't a fun feeling. Still, she stood upright, walking toward Alicia to examine what had happened. "Ninjas?" The thought of ninja related activities were cut short, though, hearing the horrible pun. While Kuu groaned, loudly, Maia was torn on how she felt about it. Sure, she found herself smiling, but was this really a good time for a pun?
Pssh. Every time was a great time for a pun.
This was also proven by the snickering that finally escaped the teen's mouth. "I need to learn how to pun as much as you," she admired. Her Digimon continued his groaning until out of breath, took another, and started to loudly whine. That was, until Maia poked him on the nose, mumbling a, "shush." This worked strangely well, as the second her finger touched his nose, the digimon's mouth closed, with his tongue sticking out. Somewhere in the action, Kuu added the sound affect of, "boop!"
Allowing the spirit user to take the lead, Maia followed relatively close behind. Now, everything had to go pretty well from here. They'd already dealt with the bear. Nothing could really become worse. Right?

"Yeah, ninjas. My Spirit passenger noticed it when the Gryzmon first popped up. It was with his help that I managed to hit all five of the trees, once I considered the possibility that they were marked to help new members of this hidden village remember where the entrance was. From there it was a matter of asking for a lot of help figuring out how to hit all the targets at once, which I'm sure was required to flip the metaphorical switch. Even then it was a miracle I pulled it off." Alicia noted as they came close to the village. It was odd, though, despite being underground the whole place was somehow lit up to match the time of day. Digimon could do some amazing things it seemed. There was also other questions that put the validity of an underground village in doubt, but apparently they worked it out so there wasn't much point in asking. All they had to do was figure out where Alicia's next Spirit was and get out. "Halt! Who goes there!? State your intentions!" A voice suddenly called. In a flash, against a near by sheer cliff, the speaker appeared. So much for getting out of this without being noticed. "... Wait, how did you manage to unseal the path to our village?" The Ninjamon suddenly asked as he realized the problem here. "That is path that only we Ninjamon should be capable of opening by virtue of our training."The Steeldramon took a moment to chuckled nervously. "Um... If I were to be completely honest? A lot of luck, a chain, and some daggers." Well she was pretty much honest with that. Mentioning Sol's input didn't really add too much to the answer. "As for why? Um..." "I think I know..." The Ninjamon cut her off, narrowing his eyes at her. "Still, to think the Kougamon would be so cowardly as to hire mercenaries to claim our treasure! Begone!" And things were suddenly a mess, as nine more Ninjamon appeared, all ten brandishing shurikens now. "Iga-ryū Shuriken Nage!" they shouted as one. Reacting more on instinct then anything else, Alicia reached out and grabbed Maia and Kuu, pulling them against her chest and ducking down with them. Steel clanged off steel as the Spirit User had to bear the brunt of the Ninjamons' fury from all sides. There were too many to even consider fighting, and she had to figure out how to at least get Maia and Kuu out of here without them getting turned to shishkebab over a misunderstanding. Tears were already starting to open in her steel body, and Alicia winced, biting back the pain of the shurikens hitting her. It seemed the only way to get out of this was to talk the Ninjamon down, but how long would Alicia last? There was hope though, the sudden selfless act did shake a couple of the Ninjamon, their throws weren't nearly as fast as their brethren nor as accurate.

"I don't know if I like the idea of ninjas," the blonde admitted, a little uneasily. After all, weren't ninjas really sneaky? She didn't really want to think about how they were in Digimon form! For all she knew, they'd be literally invisible and murder-machines! "But, I think I could use one of those all-knowing Digimon that speaks to you. Kuu is... Not ideal for it," she sighed, trying not to look at her Rookie.
After all, while she was saying all of this, Kuu was in the process of rapidly licking his own nose, trying to pull it into his mouth. It didn't work that way, of course, but since his tongue was already out, why not attempt it? He always wanted to know what his nose tasted like! But, ears twitched, and the Digimon stopped his antics with an, "uh?" Which was the very definition of discomforting to his tamer. 'Uh?' was never a questioning sound that meant anything good with the monster. Generally, it meant a question or that there was an issue.
Then, a voice made it clear that Kuu may have identified that they had been detected. At least it spoke first and attacked... probably second. They'd have to find out. As Alicia explained how they had gotten in, Maia nodded quietly, hoping that they could clear the situation up with ease. After all, ninjas could be reasonable, right? Also, what was a Kougamon?
Thankfully, due to Alicia's quick thinking, Maia and Kuu were safe. The girl pulled her Digimon off her shoulder, hugging him close. "Guys! Hey, Guys!" the fox curled safely away from the champions shouted, trying to wiggle free. "What's a Kougamon? Who're you? Do you have anything I can eat?" Okay, the first question was actually a decent one, but it went downhill from there.
Shifting slightly, Maia pulled her Digivice from her pocket, trying to prepare for the worst. If they didn't let up soon, there was no way she was just going to let Alicia get completely ripped to shreds! The problem was, she wasn't even really sure if she could help. Could Kuu fend them off, if they wouldn't stop? "Please, tell me your voice has some insight for this one."
At the same time, though, Kuu took advantage of Maia grabbing for her device, worming himself out from her arms, and scrambling over Alicia's shoulder, onto her back. There was a panic-inducing clang, as he whipped his cartridge up, managing to hit one of the projectiles away from the Spirit User. It wasn't much, but it was some sort of help, right? Of course, it was still pretty unpleasant for the Rookie, himself. He wasn't used to taking any damage! Let alone from Champion levels! "They're humans! You're firing at humans! Isn't there something against hurting ladies in the ninja code?" What would the fox know about ninjas, aside from what was on television? Did they really have a 'code' involved in all of this stuff, according to his shows? Or, was he just spouting nonsense to try to convince the creatures to cease their attacks?

It was a mess, all things considered. Unfortunately Alicia couldn't find a moment under the barrage to really answer Maia. She didn't trust her voice while the shurikens continued to lash at her. Could anyone manage to hold a conversation in this condition though?
Unbelievably, though, the random chatter from Kuu actually caused the Ninjamon to pause and look at each other, blinking in a dumbfounded fashion. It was so random and out of left field that they had to pause and consider what had just been shouted. "Where would anyone get that idea from...?" one Ninjamon asked another. The questioned mon just shrugged his shoulders and shook his head. He certainly had no clue.
"Indeed, where would someone assume something so... plainly, mind-bogglingly wrong?" the leading Ninjamon asked, folding his arms. "I... see we have committed a grave mistake over this misunderstanding. Nobody could be hired by a ninja Digimon and get away with being that mistaken about things..." Well, today was a day of the insane working where it really shouldn't.
"N... no more attacking... without talking it out...?" Alicia managed to grit out, panting heavily as the damage to her body took its toll on her already, looking up with one eye dark, a cut from a shuriken going through it vertically. Hopefully that wasn't permanent... The Steeldramon was frankly a mess right now. There wasn't a single part of her back, arms, legs, tail, or head that wasn't at least moderately damage by the storm of steel she'd endured. She wasn't a full Champion equivalent in this form after all.
"We have our eye on you though. We'll let this whole mess be forgotten as long as you leave us be. Enough trou-" The lead Ninjamon began, before another voice called out into the area.
"Hang on... These aren't your normal trespassers..." It was the Gryzmon from earlier. His hind legs were still badly injured, but the beast was able to hobble over to the group at least. "Hear them out, they are the kind of people we can afford to trust." Apparently no grudges were held for the earlier mess.
"And on what grounds do you say this, Gryzmon?" the leading Ninjamon asked in surprise. Gryzmon said nothing, only smirking and turning to better show his newest injuries. It seemed that was enough for him, as he took a step back in shock. "I see... our error was more grave then it appeared."
"This... treasure you mentioned..." Alicia began, drawing attention to herself as she shakily rose. "It wouldn't happen... to be a statue depicting a draconic figure, would it?" She suspected it was, given her luck.
"... You've never seen it, yet you know an approximation of what it is... You are one of those Spirit Users we've observed scouring the Digital World from time to time, aren't you?"
Alicia nodded slowly, her body shuddering a bit as she struggled to hold herself together metaphorically. "Yes... I was lead here... to find it. It's..."
"I can tell what you're thinking kid, and you're right to think it." Sol supplied to her as she hesitated.
"... practically a part of me." the Steeldramon finished. The Ninjamon nodded, closing his eyes.
"Heh... to think we never had a hope of using it to advance our techniques and skills further. I suppose I cannot deny when fate comes knocking on our door. It was meant for you all along." Turning, the Ninjamon whistled, sitting down. "It will be brought here shortly for you to claim. I would like to apologize for making such an inaccurate assumption of your character."
"Heh... happens... to the best of us..." Alicia muttered, sitting down as well. Her strength ran out though, as she was forced to revert to her human form, groaning. "Ugh... that's gonna hurt in the morning."
