Takara Kureha, Master Treasure Hunter (in progress) was staring out over the grand blue sea. "You know, Hagurumon..." He began to speak. Hagurumon floated next to him, silent as usual. An eventual glare from Takara, however, informed the floating Digimon that he was expected to speak. "Know what?" the floating gear asked. How strange. It might have made some biting sarcastic remark, or simply refused to speak. Maybe the Stockholm syndrome was beginning to set in? Hey, if he wasn't getting away, well, realistically ever, he might as well give in.
"Why we're here!" Takara exclaimed, sweeping his hand across the broad expanse of the beach! Because you know I can't stand water, or sand. Hagurumon imagined. But he would never admit it. Instead, he gave the desired response- "I have no idea." And, as this was the desired response- Takara gave a broad grin, before leaping into his lengthy explanation.
"Where is the treasure!?" Takara asked, obviously rhetorically. "There are four places to find treasure! Ancient ruins! Secret rooms in public buildings! Deep underground! And! Under! The! Sea! I'm talking Atlantis, baby! Undersea temples, sunken ships! The whole shebang! Right before our eyes! If only we could get there? So, Hagurumon. How do you suggest we go about that?" Takara looked straight at Hagurumon, prompting a response. Hagurumon wasn't sure where this was going. "We could... Purchase rebreathers?" the Digimon suggested hesitantly. He was met with a laugh.
"Too simple! You aren't thinking enough, Hagurumon! Sure, we could get rebreathers! But then what? We get the treasure, yes? But how do we get it to the surface? Besides, silly, you'd rust in an instant in that water! No, what we need is..." Takara paused for dramatic effect. Oh good, Hagurumon thought during the pause, He does know and seemingly cares that I can rust. Takara barely gave him time to finish that thought, leaping into his conclusion. "We need a partner! One who can dive deep, with ease! Can carry all our treasure, with ease! And! One! Who! can fend off any attackers who come to steal what is ours!"
And so Takara came to what he needed from Hagurumon. "So then! What Digimon fit our criteria?" Takara half asked, half demanded. Hagurumon had to think- He only knew Digimon from the metal empire, and even then it was a stretch. "Metal... Seadramon?" the gear offered, tentatively. What!? He couldn't think of any others who fit the bill! "Good! Now let us use this convenient boat that is lying right here, and search for this, Metal Seadramon!" Hagurumon might have been concerned that this was technically stealing, but he realized that it didn't really matter. Takara would take it anyways.
Still... I can't imagine MetalSeadramon will listen to a human like this. Hagurumon thought, And that's if we manage to find one! This is absolute madness! I'm going to die on that boat! Which, to be fair... Would return him to the Village of Beginnings. And away to a new life. One where he wasn't expected to obey the whims of Takara Kureha. Oh, to have a new life... But for now, this was his life. Stuck in a dinghy with a miserable human who didn't bathe nearly often enough. Oh, what a life! He wished Takara would at least jump in the ocean while they were here! But he knew better than to hope for that.
And so... Nothing happened. The boat floated deeper out to sea, and Hagurumon lost hope of ever seeing land again. Even the idea of reincarnating seemed hopeless- How could his data ever find its way out of here? He was certain that he would die here, and die permanently. The idea that Takara would go with him brought the Digimon no pleasure. The human, meanwhile, did not seem capable of losing hope. As the hours turned into days, and the sea seemed endless, not once did his smile break. Not for the first time, did Hagurumon think he was a madman.
How long did it take for humans to die? Hagurumon didn't know. Surely after over a day without fresh water, the boy would call it quits? But as that single day turned into a second, Hagurumon knew that his last faint hope had failed. He was doomed, as Takara rowed onward with single-minded purpose. Find MetalSeadramon! No matter who he had to take with him if he failed. Who, being Hagurumon, who was not human and would not starve. But being alone on the ocean until somehow, eventually, he drowned... Somehow, that fate seemed the far worse of the two.
It was the third day of their journey, when a miracle occured. Or a disaster. "Metal. Check. In the water. Check. Dragon? Eh, close enough." Hagurumon could only stare at where Takara was looking. Seriously. What the heck. Because there, before them, was MetalSeadramon. And he hadn't noticed them yet... But how the heck! Three days! THREE DAYS! And they found one Digimon in a whole ocean of them, who just happened to be above water! Did the universe conspire against Hagurumon or something?
Okay yeah, probably.
"Oiii! You! Join me!"
MetalSeadramon heard a small noise coming from a small thing of in a small area to his left. Did he mention it was small? Small and human. Pheh. Two things MetalSeadramon disliked. He would remove the disliked things, yes. A single flick of the tail, and the annoyance was gone. Where it was gone? No matter, no care. The large metallic Digimon continued on his merry way as if nothing had happened. If you like, you could imagine a nice glint in the sky in the direction Takara was last seen.
And that left Takara cackling madly as he flew threw the air. His boat followed after... But was no longer seaworthy. Oh well. He'd get a new one, and find MetalSeadramon! The idea that the fall might kill him, or of never returning to land... Well, as you might expect by now, never occured to him. But it certainly occcurred to Hagurumon, who was no longer certain it would not be best, in the long run, to continue being alive. Especially given that Takara was quite obviously less than sane. Well, at this point, he couldn't do anything. Just fly through the air and hope he landed on something soft... Or that Takara did not.
"I should find something that flies," Takara said thoughtfully.
After what seemed, to Hagurumon, an eternity in the air, the two came down... But not in the water? Nor did it seem like land!? "OWW" Boomed a voice below. "That hurt!" announced the massive Whamon upon which the two had landed. Oh come on- Takara was not even injured? Oh Yggdrasil, what did I do to deserve this!
Takara, however, was unfazed. "Now! Let us find MetalSeadramon! He will join us! You, come too!" He directed the monster below him. but Whamon did not like this course of action. "MetalSeadramon!? No way! He's far too powerful! And mean! I'm not going anywhere near him, and that's final!" Takara acted like he didn't hear. "Don't bother. I'm not sure his ears work." Hagurumon said, to no one in particular. Which was perfectly fine, because no one listened.
"Who are you guys, anyways!?" Whamon was very confused at this point- Wouldn't you be if a human, a gear, and a boat fell on your back, and demanded you hunt down one of the digital oceans most vicious and powerful Digimon? Yeah, good luck with that.
By this time, Takara had taken a second look at who he was standing on, and realized a basic fact. Metal seadramon was cool looking... But slim! No storage capacity whatsoever! This one, on the other hand... Well, you could fit the entire cargo hold of a sunken ship in here! Literally, just stuff the hold in. So convenient! "You! Join me!" Here we go again thinks Hagurumon, and he's just about right. "Wha?
"Be... A treasure hunter!" Takara declared. "Trust me, he doesn't know the word no. You're better off giving in quickly." Hagurumon advised. Hey, if he was stuck with Takara, he'd stick anyone else he could with them! "Treasure...?" Whamon asked tentatively. "Yeah! Treasure! Gold, jewels! The glories of the deep sea! All will be ours! With your help of course!" Note that he didn't specify the exact split. But Whamon didn't notice. The idea of... Adventure, was very intriguing to him. As well as the idea that his help was needed. "This... Could you tell me more?"
"Sure! But on the way back to shore! I'm starving! And thirsty!"
And so they went back to shore, Takara regaling Whamon with stories of treasures, laying on the sea-bed. Treasures Whamon could help them find. And when Takara was finished, he agreed to join Takara on this quest. And so he became the second victim of the Treasure Hunter. The only slight hitch was that once they got back to shore, Whamon was certain to be unable to continue with them! But wait! Silly Whamon did not understand the power of the Xros Loader! As, in a flash of light, he was converted to a Digimemory. And there he waited in stasis until such a time as Takara needed him again.
"Why we're here!" Takara exclaimed, sweeping his hand across the broad expanse of the beach! Because you know I can't stand water, or sand. Hagurumon imagined. But he would never admit it.
