Spirits Aren't All They're Cracked Up To Be (Alicia/Mitsuko)

Alicia's words swirled around within Mitsuko's mind. She must admit she had been involved with people's problems to ignore her own. What did Mitsuko stand for? Truth, justice, honor, hope, love, faith, and goodness. In her heart, she knew that purity was within all hearts, as was darkness. It was their decisions that dictated where their hearts truly lead. Unknowingly, her eyes brimmed over with tears. Quickly she wiped them away. "Thank you, Alicia. I needed to hear that." Mitsuko's bell-like voice chimed softly.
"In a couple weeks, if you are feeling up to it, I would like to offer you a ticket to a charity concert. I was given a few free tickets, with a back stage pass, but I never use them all. I hope you can come." Mitsuko smiled as she reached into her bag and pulled out a black ticket with golden lettering, holding it out to Alicia.

Alicia allowed herself a small smile. It seemed that her words had an effect on the singer, just as Mitsuko's song had given her the wake up call she desperately needed. "Glad to help out where I can, even now." Alicia responded. Even bedridden as she was, it was nice to know she'd managed to do some good for another.
Then the ticket was pulled out, as Mitsuko explained herself. Alicia tilted her head, taking the ticket from the other woman. "Well, I don't usually go to concerts..." Alicia admitted, humming. "But I think if I get the chance I'll make an exception for this one. I always liked the idea of charities to be honest."
Now if only work and the Digital World cooperated to let her go, that would be great. But when things are as hectic as juggling two lives like that, promises could get lost in the confusion. She only hoped that wouldn't be the case for this one.

"You're kindness is appreciated." Mitsuko's voice was low, yet soft. "The concert is fun, but the after party is a bit much. Women and men in expensive dresses and suits drinking champagne. Numerous plates of fancy food, while the musicians mingle with the guests and perform encores. It would be nice to have someone there to support me." Mitsuko said quietly, and then blushed in realization as to how it sounded.
"Not that my father doesn't support me. He does. He just works a lot here at the hospital, and sometimes can't attend the events. Mitsuko added quickly. Geeze, way to go. If I rambled anymore she would think I was Rainman or something! Mitsuko's mind scolded herself. "But, it is for a good cause. It helps keep the arts and music alive, by using the funds to award scholarships to our academy for students whom couldn't otherwise afford the tuition. Mitsuko didn't feel the need to tell Alicia that the scholarship was named after her own, musically famous and deceased mother. Or that Mitsuko was the main act. She didn't want to sound pretentious after all!

Alicia chuckled softly at how Mitsuko spoke of the concert and then started rambling on and on. It gave her a better idea of just how much this thing meant to the other girl, and also a bit of curiousity towards what kind of role she played in it. "Goodness, with how nervous you are just talking about it I have to wonder if there is some kind of pressure on you to perform well. Why, I'd dare to hazard a guess that your putting on the main event. Have some large shoes you want to fill, huh?"
"Careful, Alicia, you're hitting what may be a sore subject for her." Sol cautioned, and Alicia averted her gaze rather abruptly to run over that though. Fast enough that it might clue the singer in that there was a third presence in the room, one that she couldn't hear. It hadn't occurred to her with how cheery Mitsuko had been, but if a simple mention of taking time out for one's self had such a big impact on her...
"Oh geeze, I'm sorry..." Alicia said, only a brief moment after hearing Sol out. "I just had an idea from listening to you, and I didn't think any further then what I'd just talked about. I hope I didn't offend you or anything with how thoughtless that was..." The Steel Spirit User looked back with obvious worry. She didn't want to accidentally push the singer away just because she was poking at her more for the sake of poking then actually getting any more information out of her. "A-Anyways, I'll do my best to show up on time, it sounds like a really great event."

At Alicia's remark, a small squeak escaped Mitsuko's lips. Hastily, she covered her mouth and cleared her throat. "Oh... well... um... you could say... uh..." Mitsuko's voice gave out, she cleared her throat once again, and decided to tell the truth. Well, the part that Alicia had already deduced. "Yes, I am the headline performer." Mitsuko felt herself blush deeply.
Mitsuko really didn't want to talk about her mother... not yet anyway. She continued to twirl her hair, absentmindedly. Her blue eyes dulled, as memories of her mother flooded to the surface. Shaking her head, she brought herself back to reality. "No, no apology necessary. I just didn't want to seem... prideful." Mitsuko smiled softly, as she stood up and stretched her limbs. "So... any idea how long you will be... resting for?" Mitsuko hoped the personal question didn't seem rude. Mitsuko originally wanted to ask something else, something her keen eyes noticed, but she had been too invasive already.

Alicia smiled softly at the admission. "I knew it. You're good, after all. You know how to really reach out to people, even if they don't realize they need help." the redhead commented, chuckling. "And its nothing to be embarrassed about, Mitsuko. If anything you should feel proud that your talents are recognized like this.
It also seemed that Sol was right, she had hit upon a sore spot in conversation. It was something the Spirit User regretted doing. Still, things had gone the way they did, and there was no fixing it now. How long would she be here though. "Sol...?" she whispered to herself.
"You're healing fast. Another few days should let you get out of here if you're careful." the Steel Spirit answered promptly.
"A couple days, give or take, I think." Alicia repeated the answer to Mitsuko, smiling. "What can I say, I heal quick." And just as Mitsuko's eyes were keen to pick things up, Alicia was fairly sharp herself, noticing the singer's gaze. "So... what were you actually going to ask me?"

Mitsuko nodded mutely, at the Spirit User's logical reasoning. Most people would be proud, they would probably even be bragging about it. However, Mitsuko wasn't like most people. She knew she had musical talent, she was shy not stupid. A little piece of Mitsuko's mind wondered if they chose her for her... or because she was her mother's daughter. Alicia helped quiet those thoughts, for now.
"Wow! Really? That quickly? That's great news!" Mitsuko stopped twirling her hair and shifted in her seat as Alicia asked what had been on her mind a moment before. What could she say 'I think I have seen you talking to yourself.' Or 'Are you hearing voices?' Is there really a nice way to ask someone why they talk to themselves?! Mitsuko realized that she had remained silent during her buried inner turmoil, so she cleared her throat and swallowed the lump of doubt in her throat. "Well you see... uhm... I have noticed that you... uhm... seem to ... uh... It looks like you are..." Relax Mitsuko! She scolded herself. Alicia won't hurt you... "You seem to be conversing with someone, other than myself. Is that part of being a Spirit User? I don't mean to be rude, but my curiosity got intrigued..." Mitsuko whispered quietly, as her deep blue eyes looked at the floor.

Alicia chuckled a bit once Mitsuko asked her what was really on her mind. "Ah, yes, about that. It's actually an odd thing even among Spirit users but mine is still... How to put it..." Humming a bit to herself, she looked off to the side a bit. "My Spirit's a bit more 'in tact' then most. Enough to retain intelligence and speech. Unfortunately the only way I can really get him to hear anything is vocally. Its... rough trying to juggle things like that without looking crazy."
"Could be worse, you know. Whispering could've not been enough for me to hear you." Sol commented. Alicia merely face palmed, sighing. Given what Mitsuko had already noticed about her and the explanation she just gave, hopefully it would be obvious that said Spirit had said something to frustrate her. "And the worst part is as far as I'm aware, I'm the only one who can hear him period. Yes, him, don't ask how that is working out."

Mitsuko nodded once again. So it was an abnormality. She could accept that. As with all the other Chosen Children she grew to accept abnormalities. It was like that is why they were, well, chosen. "I bet that is difficult." Mitsuko's eyes sparkled slightly. She could only equate it to having a radio shoved in your head. Mitsuko shook her head once again as the last part of what Alicia said registered in her mind.
Him. Oh my! Mitsuko felt herself blush deeply. It would be bad enough to near the voice. But for it to be a guy, that would be highly uncomfortable! Mitsuko could barely deal with herself in her head, but a male spirit as well. Oh my! "I... I'm sorry. That was a bit personal. And I won't ask." Mitsuko stood up, stretching her legs, her arms folding across herself gracefully. "Is there anything else I can do for you today?" Mitsuko felt as if she had intruded a bit too much upon Alicia's personal life. Perhaps there was something the Spirit User needed her to do.

((OOC: Sorry for the wait. Life threw shit at me and killed my muse for a few weeks.))
Alicia glanced away, blushing a bit herself at Mitsuko's reaction to realizing her situation. Maybe she should've left Sol's gender unspoken so that there was at least a level of plausible deniability as to what it was?
"C-Could you not blush like you've stumbled across a scandal of sorts? That's almost as uncomfortable as being in this situation in the first place. Still, it's a mercy you're not asking why. I honestly wouldn't have an answer for you. It's probably something weird anyways knowing my luck so far."
"If you care about my opinion, I think someone has it in for the both of us and thought this would be hilarious to watch. Beyond that I can't fathom why." her Spirit noted with a shrug.
Alicia decided to ignore him for the moment, smiling to the silver haired girl. "Oh, no thank you. You've done so much just coming here, singing and playing, and hearing me out. If you have somewhere to be, please don't let me hold you up. I just hope next time we meet its not in a hospital room."

((OOC: Its okay, life always comes first.))
"O-oh, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to... make you uncomfortable." Mitsuko held up her hands in a gesture that was meant to be soothing, comforting. "I'm just... amazed how strong you are. I can barely deal with me in my own head. But to have a guy shoved in your head, like a radio you can't turn off... Not that I mean any disrespect to him...and I'm rambling." Mitsuko covered her face in defeat. After taking a deep breath she lowered her hands.
A small smile broke across her face, at the mention of seeing each other again. "I just have a rehearsal for the show, but hopefully we will see each other soon." Mitsuko bowed deeply, and her thick silvery hair framed her face. Gathering her bag, and violin, Mitsuko walked out of the room, closing the door behind her. At the click of the latch, Mitsuko leaned against the door, her mind full of many things. Kai, Scout and now Alicia. All Digidestined, whom risked their lives protecting what they believed in. Was she only chosen to help heal and sooth these amazing people, forever bound to their destiny, only partner less? A small tear streamed down her face, as Mitsuko rushed down the hall, towards the elevator.

"It's alright. I can't exactly blame you for it. And yeah he's nearly impossible to ignore. I swear sometimes he picks moments specifically to aggravate me." Alicia answered back, chuckling. The young musician then bowed, explaining what plans she had for the moment, and Alicia waved to her. "Good luck then Mitsuko, and take care!" she called to the other woman as she left the room.
"Well... all's well that ends well, Sol?" She asked her spirit quietly after Mitsuko closed the door.
"Indeed. Everything happens for a reason I tend to say." Sol answered back. "Just make sure to keep your promise to her, the earliest chance you get, be her guardian in the Digital World while she finds her partner."
Alicia chuckled softly. "Of course..." And with that said she laid back to rest. All the better to recover more quickly and leave the dreary place.
