The wannabe punk snickered a little, continuing to recline on the machine as if it was the most natural thing in the world. "Nothing wrong here, beautiful," the punk said, his face seemingly stuck in a cocky smirk. He motioned for the duo to continue playing, presumably so he could go back to making snide remarks about how badly they were playing.
However, by now Isaac was able to pair his face with his voice, and his brow seemed to furrow in frustration as he recognized just who he was dealing with here. "Great, it's you again," Isaac said, trying to avoid letting the hatred in his voice leak out. He simply sounded very frustrated instead, making it quite clear that he had bumped into this clown before. He tried to ignore him and go back to Street Fighter, but he found himself being turned around with a rough hand on the shoulder. Someone might have intervened in the fight that was sure to ensue, had Maia and Isaac's awful Street Fighter playing not driven off anyone interested in playing. Nobody wanted to wait behind the two slowest fighters in the world, after all.
"You? That's a funny way of saying the Great Gintama, pipsqueak," he said, clearly irritated at the disrespect but not skipping a beat in his little speech. His quickness to anger at Flamon's taunts and pranks cost him far too much respect in the eyes of his gang. Today, he was going to play it cool even if it killed him. "How're the ribs?" he asked as he leered down at Isaac, the boy keeping defiant eye contact at all times in response.
"Not a scratch on 'em," Isaac responded. "But you were a joke compared to most of the stuff I have seen, anyway." In the face of Kraktoof, Bakemon, Ulysses, Porcupamon, and so many others, what the hell was some twig who thought he was a gangster supposed to do? When he had flung Elliot into the Shibuya River and tried to crack Isaac's ribs with a series of vicious kicks, he seemed like the scariest guy in Japan. Now he just looked like the wannabe he really was. "What about buzzcut? Still smarting?"
Gintama's eye twitched a little from the disrespect. His hand pressed down harder on Isaac's shoulder, as if desperately wanting to shove him into the Street Fighter cabinet but without wanting to make a scene. "You and your little nerd book got a lucky shot," he snarled, still burning at the indignity of one of his boys being knocked out by some cruddy nerd with a book. "And that wizard freak isn't here to protect you this time."
In response, Isaac simply motioned to all of the people in the arcade. If he really did scream and kick up a fuss, he'd probably end up getting a pounding first. If he simply implied it, maybe it'd scare the guy off. For now, at least, it seemed to do the ticket. Gintama simply released Isaac and walked, hovering near Maia's spot on the cabinet instead. " 'Course, if I can't give you a pounding here, I might as well teach you a lesson. How's humiliating you in front of the dame sound?" he asked, motioning with his head for Maia to step aside. "Step aside, please," he asked in a somewhat mocking tone. "And get ready to feast those pretty eyes on some real skill."
Isaac's skin was already crawling. He wanted nothing more than to whack the guy over the head so he'd stop his crap, but then he'd be the one thrown out of the arcade. Instead, he had a little plan. While Gintama was busy trying to pump himself up, Isaac was shooting Elliot a text. Total slimeball starting shit with me and Maia. If you're feeling better, grab security.
He'd never even see it coming until they had his hands pinned his back. Before then, though, it was clear he wasn't moving until he got to play some Street Fighter.

B-beautiful? That sure didn't feel like a compliment from a guy like him! The stranger was just making her uncomfortable to the point that she didn't really want to go back to playing with him there. But, wait. It seemed that Isaac knew who this person was. That was weird. On top of that, he sounded less than thrilled to reunite. After all, Isaac certainly didn't look like someone who would want to spend much time with someone like this!
The two males seemed to go back and forth, as pieces collected to finally form a puzzle. Wait. Was this one of the people from the story that she'd been told when they met? "I-Isaac," she murmured, looking between the two. This had a chance of getting ugly pretty fast. Luckily, they were in public. People were watching.
Still, when being called a dame, and some attempt to get her to relinquish her spot, the blonde simply stared at this Gintama person. Hey, at least he said please! But, no. Didn't look like it was working. "Ah," the teen smiled, throwing a glance to the cabinet. Wait, she was smiling? Why? "Wouldn't you rather play against me?" Was she seriously being won over by this moron? In fact, she sounded pretty interested in the guy! Of course, she wasn't. The guy was kind of creepy and she really just wanted to kick him. This gave her an opportunity for a close second, right? Throwing a glance to Isaac, the girl bit her lip. "I promise it would be more fun." Fun? For what person? Sure, she'd been having fun with Isaac, but she'd been losing the whole time! With that kind of lack of skill with a game, there was no way this was bound to be fun.
"We could even work out an agreement, or something," she suggested, leaning against the cabinet slightly. "If I win, I'd appreciate if you would leave us alone. Sound good?" Agreements always sucked. Especially if she was on the losing end. Pulling out her phone, she rapidly shot a text to Isaac, reading, Hope you have a backup plan.
Unknowingly, maybe she'd just be able to draw out the game long enough for security to collect the jerk. But, now the tone of interest in the stranger seemed to draw into more of a dare. "Unless, you're afraid to play against a girl?"

Isaac's gut wanted to do a double take at Maia seemingly being won over by Gintama's, for lack of a better term, "charms?" Thankfully, Isaac's brain was there to smack it upside the head and tell it to stop being an idiot. Between the brief signal she shot Isaac and the complete 180 in reaction she had to Gintama, he knew she was setting up some kind of plan. Probably one better than his, anyway. If anything it only made Isaac marvel at how good of an actor she was, if she could look at a slimeball like Gintama and sound even the slightest bit flirty.
He felt his phone ring, and quickly sent her a text in response. Got Elliot calling in the cavalry. We just gotta hold the line until security gets here. he responded. A quick check of the nearby area revealed a conspicuously empty House of the Dead machine. As much as it nauseated him, until then there would be nothing he could do. A shame, too, because he wanted nothing more than to give this creep a pounding. Truth be told, he was kind of worried. Maia was pretty rusty, as far as he could tell from playing her, and yet here she was stepping up and challenging this guy. Already, he could tell what kind of cliche response to her suggestion of a wager was coming.
"Heh. Of course, of course. I mean, I'm not a bad guy," he somewhat mockingly crooned. "But if I win, how about you and I ditch short stuff over here?" He turned to Isaac, relishing in how the boy's nose seemed to wrinkle in disgust. "Anything to say, pipsqueak, or are you gonna keep standing there gawking like an idiot?" he asked, hoping to keep prodding the boy further.
"Good luck. You're gonna need it," Isaac said, pushing the string of curse words that he actually wanted to say far, far into the back of his mind. Trusting Maia got him this far. He wasn't about to stop trusting her now. Of course, nobody who actually sucked at Street Fighter talked a game this big. Who was to say Gintama hadn't pulled stunts like this before? He'd be hoping as hard as possible that Maia wouldn't end up forced to give this loser the time of day.
Naturally, the towering Hugo was Gintama's main choice. Isaac's eyes widened slightly, as he found himself wondering how Maia could take on a guy that practically filled the screen.

Ugh. Even trying to talk pretty with this guy left a bad taste on Maia's tongue. She didn't even want to look at him! The girl hardly glanced at the response from Isaac, before pocketing her phone. It certainly couldn't take that long to win her bet, anyway, right? Hopefully, he wasn't some sort of champion with the game. If he was, the blonde had full intent of crushing that title. But, with stakes as high as going with this guy instead of Isaac? That wasn't something that sat well with her.
"Deal," she confirmed, with a hint of hesitation. Would the creep pick up on it? She hoped so. Then again, Isaac might have heard it, too. "I... doubt it's going to be much of a fight anyway," she added, a tinge of nervousness. Almost gently, she took up the controls, picking out her character. Instead of hitting random, she went with the same choice that she had drawn before. Cammy again? Against this hulking monster? There was a sigh, as she glanced at Gintama. "Figures," was the best response she could find to his pick.
"There's a reason I don't play competitively, though." Was she afraid of losing? Biting her lip again, she waited for the match to start. There was a small tapping sound, as one of her fingers clicked next to one of the buttons in anticipation. Was she nervous? After her game with Isaac, she certainly hadn't had a chance to warm up!
As soon as the Fight! notification vanished from the screen, the teen's stance had altered. Delicate touches and nervous shuffles had turned to a more tense demeanor, buttons and movements clicking on the machine rapidly. Cammy whirled across the screen, pulling Hugo into a grab before he even had a chance to take a step, and throwing him to the ground. Without moving her eyes from the screen, the girl no longer tapped off to the sides of the buttons like she had with Isaac. Instead, it was a strewn out line of combos, only lurching the character back when she thought Hugo was going to be able to hit her.
This already looked like an easy win for round one. Maia seemed to be holding her breath for the most part, waiting to see if the behemoth character was going to manage a comeback. After all, he was pretty good at hitting hard, wasn't he? That was, if he could even get an attack in! So much for being rusty!

There was no comeback. In fact, it was like Hugo never showed up to the fight in the first place. The giant's slow attempts at offense and defense were shredded to bits by Cammy's lightning fast speed, and half of the big man's health was gone in the blink of an eye. Gintama furiously rushed his character in, furious and trying to exploit his massive range, but it was to no avail. He was overextending himself way too badly, and Cammy was able to easily turn the momentum back every time. Maia's games with Isaac were tepid affairs that generally went to a count out, in part because they were too busy talking and flirting and in part because Isaac had no idea what he was doing. In contrast, this game went to a solid KO before the timer even significantly dwindled. It was a complete curb stomp, at least for Round 1
Gintama stepped back, cracking his neck and moving his arms exaggeratedly as if warming himself up. "Alright, alright. Guess I went a little easy on Round One," he said, trying not to let his anger at being had manifest too much. He may have sounded cocky, but there were daggers beneath his words. "Wouldn't want to crush that feisty spirit of yours so quick, now would I? But if you think I'm holding back any further, too bad. The chains are off now!" There was a distinct lack of cheers and applause from the audience, only a disgusted look from Isaac. It was clear Gintama was used to having his boys rallying behind him and cheering whatever he said, and that this comparative silence was tormenting him. His respect was at all-time lows, and the perpetual danger in his voice was a clear sign of that.
Isaac, on the other hand, was currently applauding Maia's efforts. Was he offended that despite his assurances, she still held back for him in a massive way? Oh yeah, totally. But he could gripe about that later. More than anything, he was happy to see her completely handing Gintama's butt to him on a silver platter. Besides, he had to admit, it was crazy fun watching her play. She was like a machine, relentlessly crushing anyone in her way. Was that why she didn't like playing competitive? Because she was just too unstoppable? Or was that just daydreams of Maia Quinn, (Street) Warrior Princess talking?
"Guess you're all talk, eh big guy?" Isaac asked. "And here I thought I was supposed to be scared of you."
"Shut it, twerp. At least I'm not having my girlfriend fight my battles for me," Gintama sneered in response.
"Pretty sure this became her battle when you started draping yourself over her like some cheap leather jacket," Isaac countered. Gintama growled slightly at Isaac talking smack about his favorite jacket. "Trust me, I'd love to wipe that smirk off your face myself. But right now I'm not the one you've got to answer to.
Time for Round 2!"
This time Gintama would play a little bit more defensively, trying to swat Cammy out of range with Hugo's superior reach. It'd take a lot of careful timing, with how slow the giant's swings were, but he wasn't about to let these two kids clown on him. Before it was about humiliating some stupid punk who cost him his credibility with his gang. Now it was about proving he was still the big dog of the yard. And maybe scoring a date with a fine-looking girl, too. There was nothing in the world that could be a better pick me up.

Wow, that had been really easy! Maia looked over the screen, as if expecting some sort of joke. "That," she paused, throwing a glance to the creep, "I really hope you were going easy," she commented. There wasn't even a teasing tone to her voice. No, it was flat, and maybe a little offended! "If you think you can crush me, I'd like to see it," she taunted, lightly. Sure, she didn't want to cause problems, but this guy was obnoxious!
For a moment, the girl debated on opening her mouth to the girlfriend comment, but bit her tongue. She'd take the mistake. And, maybe prod Isaac a little later, if all panned out well. "You accepted the challenge," the blonde pointed out. "If you're going to beat me anyway, why do you have such an attitude?" Wasn't that a valid question? This guy was supposed to steal her away from Isaac, or something like that! So far, he was doing a really bad job at this! Who was going to take him seriously?
If Isaac were to watch, as the second round started up, Cammy took a few steps back, much like she had initially treated their match. "You should try a different move, instead," Maia suggested, taking a breath. Before any attack could hit her, she began a similar tactic as before, with a sudden grab. It sure was lucky that Hugo was slow, otherwise that would never work that well! Or, maybe it was just Gintama that was slow. It was hard to tell! The blonde didn't want to get too cocky, of course. There was still time for her to lose. But, she still wasn't even trying all that hard, in her opinion!
After a few hits, she finally took damage with the tactic, but it wasn't enough to immobilize her for long. Instead, she turned around with several blocks, attacking in between lulls, and spinning backward. Finally, a gauge had built up on the bottom of the screen. With a few buttons, Cammy dropped into a crouch, before rushing the larger character with several kicks. Eyes glimpsed at the health bars, seeing that she was still quite in the lead. "Hey," she murmured, to the leather-jacketed jerk, "I thought you said you weren't going to go easy on me any more." At this rate, he was only about a hit away from being knocked out, while Cammy still had over half her health. Was it possible for Gintama to turn it around? Keeping her focus on the game, it didn't seem overly likely. But, anything was possible!

Gintama was tired of responding to the taunts and jabs. He simply grit his teeth and shook his head at Maia's comments, trying to focus on getting his groove back instead of letting her continue throwing him off. Unfortunately, it wasn't enough. He was simply getting outplayed no matter how hard he tried. His attempts at advancing were dodged, his attempts at spacing were punished, and his attempts at setting up a grab were easily wiggled out of. He was left getting increasingly desperate, and with desperation an idea started to cross his mind. He smirked as he looked at the health totals, figuring there was just enough time to force the fight into Round 3.
One hand kept to the controls, while the other subtly drifted over to the side of the cabinet. When it was out of Maia's sight he smashed the side of the cabinet viciously, a thunderous bang echoing through the arcade. It was loud enough to make Isaac cringe; would it throw off Maia and end up costing her precious few seconds of game time? For a character as powerful as Hugo, a few seconds could mean almost all of a character's health. This was especially the case near the end of a round, where Hugo's meters were all nearly full. An Ultra Combo sneaked in during a single moment of hesitation could lead to a win being stolen. He inputted the buttons in a frenzy, waiting to see if he would be able to land the hit.
Isaac wasn't having any of that crap. "What a load of bull!" he said as the hand hit the cabinet. "Can't even compete without cheating?" If Maia managed to avoid his trick and win the round, this would be a triumphant barb. If she was thrown off guard and robbed of the win, it would be a furious demand. Regardless, Isaac was getting really tired of the "great" Gintama's shenanigans. He nervously checked his phone, hoping to see if Elliot had any luck finding the arcade's security. They had to be getting here soon, right?

Normally, one would have thought the ruthless tactic would have worked. While it absolutely ruined the combo she was going for, Maia found the best response was to just hit several buttons at once, while taking a deep breath. Did she know what she hit? No. But, it was an attack, all the same! Which, was plenty to ruin the remaining health on the cheater's character before he could ruin her. "Nice try," she commented, over Isaac's complaints. After how her week had been? She'd started learning to react despite something startling her! She'd spent too many times freezing up and risking getting hurt. This wasn't even a life or death situation! She could risk hitting a few buttons!
"You're one of the reasons I hate competitive gaming," she pointed out, dully. Oh, yeah, that had still sent her heart racing from the attempt to trip her up. Maia was trying to numb it out for the time being. "Sore loser." Still, she stepped away from the cabinet, refusing to let the bully out of her sight. She wasn't going to turn away and risk him pulling some jerk move while she wasn't looking.
Where was that security when they could probably use them? How was this great guy going to hold up to losing when he had been so set to win? Hopefully, Gintama would just hold up to his part of the deal and leave them alone. Chances were, that wasn't going to happen. If only!

Damnit! None of this was supposed to happen! Gintama gave the machine another angry whack, not out of distraction this time but out of anger. He turned to leave, muttering "Whatever, deal's a deal. You're all a waste of the great Gintama's time anyway."
Unfortunately, in his sulking, he didn't even notice himself bumping into a thick chest. "Hey, Tubbs, watch where you're go- oh." Gintama's irritable, better-than-you tone took a far different tone when he realized "Tubbs" was, in fact, a large and burly security guard. He gave Gintama a dirty look, wordlessly asking of the punk would go quietly or make this a little fun for him. Considering this security guard was not a 5-foot 15 year old brat, a fight wasn't exactly on the cards for Gintama. He held his hands up to show he didn't mean any funny business and walked away, shooting Isaac the dirtiest of looks as he passed. In response Isaac simply gave a mocking salute, Gintama mouthing that he was at "the top of the list." Isaac wasn't sure he liked what that meant, but could he really bring himself to care about this lowlife?
Nah, there were far more important people to care about right now. Like the complete and utter badass standing right next to him. "I'm glad you were able to send that low-life packing. Kind of amazed you were even able to stand talking to him for that long, honestly," Isaac said. "But can we talk about how awesome you were there? Because holy crap, I've never seen a game move like that before! Almost wish you weren't taking it easy on me back there. I would've loved seeing that earlier!" He didn't even sound annoyed. He was far too won over by Maia's skills to care about silly things like that.
Of course, dealing with Gintama was really exhausting, and he wasn't sure how much Street Fighting he had left in him. "We could go a few more rounds if you wanted, but I dunno if I'd be able to put up nearly enough of a fight," he admitted. "Anything else you want to check out while we're here?"

Wow, he was actually going to listen? That was pretty awesome! The better part was when he insulted the security guard. Seeing the mouthed threat, Maia chimed a, "hey, you're on someone's list now, too. That's going to be fun." Too? Well. If Kuu was on someone's list, she was kind of lumped in with him. It wasn't like the fox went off places without her. Except that she didn't know where he was right now!
Finally, she took a deep breath, trying to fully settle herself down. Woo, that was a little too exciting for a normal day! That guy was such a creep, though! At least Isaac seemed to have found the game exciting to watch! "Hey, if it got him to leave you alone, I would have talked to him longer," she smiled, throwing a glance back toward where the security guard had gone off to. "I'd rather play like we did, anyway," she admitted. Sure, it was fun to actually break out her skills, but it was nice to have a more leisurely game! Plus, nobody liked constantly losing.
Maia wouldn't deny that she was pretty over the idea of Street Fighter for now. Looking around, she didn't seem sure what to pick next. "Oh, I don't know. Does anything look good to you?" Of course, if Isaac didn't find anything to do, she'd pick for him, but it was always nice to give him an opportunity for something to catch his eye! She didn't need to drag him around everywhere.
While waiting for him to pick, she glanced around the room. "So," there was a pause, debating on how she wanted to word it. She was going to kind of pick on herself in the process, if she chose to say anything! But, sometimes it was worth it, right? "Any reason why you didn't correct that 'girlfriend' comment he made?" There was a clear teasing tone to her voice, trying to take the pressure off of the question. It wasn't meant to be rude, but there was no way that she could go without harassing him about it!

Frankly, Isaac couldn't find the threat too worrying. Sure, Gintama was bigger than him, and far stronger than him, but he was also 95% bluster and hot air. He really wasn't a significant risk, especially compared to the real Digital problems Isaac contended with on a regular basis. "You say it like that guy's a problem," Isaac said. "If anything, he was more of a threat when he had his gang backing him up. Doubt they'll work with him again when they hear how badly he botched this Street Fighter plan." It was only then that he found himself catching on to the second part of Maia's comment. "Wait, someone put you on their list? Alright, who do I gotta fight here?" he said, only half-joking.
Isaac was a little confused to hear Maia liked their way better. He couldn't imagine holding back to that severe of a degree. It must've been torment to her seeing him flub the most basic moves and misunderstand the flow of the genre, each time wanting to say what could've been done better. That was always how Elliot made it seem when they played games, at least, as he forcibly forged Isaac into a half-decent Mario Kart player beneath his iron fist. "At least he was just threatening to kill me. I'm used to that," Isaac said somewhat matter-of-factly. If pressed further, he'd just say it was about people like Gintama being rude when he came to Japan, or maybe internet jerks. Certainly that was the only major time that happened, right?
He looked around the room, eventually noticing a doorway leading to a different section of the arcade. His eyes widened slightly as he noticed what it was, and a grin spread across his face. "Laser Tag," he read from the sign on the wall. Between this and DDR, it was shaping up to be a really active trip to the arcade! The two were probably going to be pretty tired after this, weren't they? "I always had a blast with this back home. You want to play a bit?" he asked, not moving until Maia gave the okay. If she did he almost unconsciously took her wrist as he walked, not wanting her to get lost in the crowd. After all, they'd have to pass through like half the arcade to reach the laser tag section, and that meant dealing with tons of crowds.
He found himself slowing down slightly in response to Maia's tease, though. A gentle blush spread across his face as he tried to find out why he didn't debate the point. Naturally, that meant his first, instinctual counter to the statement was a pretty crappy one. "Why didn't you?" he asked, a slight stutter in his voice from being caught off guard and trying to pull together a far better response. However, his blush died down to little as soon as he found a reason better than "Because I really wouldn't mind you being my girlfriend." For obvious reasons, that one would've just been unacceptable! Instead, he said "Well, he was trying to get under my skin, right? That meant if I said anything, he won. Figured the oh-so-great Gintama wasn't even worth the time explaining things to."
Sure, Isaac. keep telling yourself that.

Well, Street Fighter had been a bust for that guy, but was it really enough to make his gang treat him differently? He probably wouldn't even tell them! Unless he really was that dumb. Who knew. "I doubt anything will come from it, anyway," she dismissed. After all, she hadn't seen any sign that anyone had even cared about that moment. Shi hadn't mentioned anything when they'd bumped into each other after the events, so she could only assume. Then again, he probably wouldn't have said anything anyway. That guy wasn't overly talkative.
Laser Tag? Maia hadn't played that in years. And, when she did, it was hardly. Maybe, Isaac had found a game that he would definitely be better at in comparison. It was worth trying out, though! "Yeah, that could be fun," the girl smiled, only to find herself in the position that she had Isaac in earlier, being led through the crowds by her wrist.
If that wasn't enough to cause a light blush, the fact that he spun her question back onto her was plenty to further it. "I-" she cut herself off. 'Kind of want to be'? No. There was no way she was admitting to that! "Was focusing on the game," she mumbled, finally finding the most lame excuse she could gather. It worked, right? After all, the girl really had to pay attention so she wouldn't lose! There was no way she was going to be willing to lose the deal that had been made. Then again, she wasn't entirely sure if she'd have followed through with the agreement, if she had.
Hearing Isaac's well-crafted excuse, Maia glanced away, again. Seemed like a convincing enough answer for her. "Y-yeah, that makes sense," she looked back toward him, as they made their way to the laser tag area. After all of yesterday's events, on top of the exercise they were getting in today, she was probably going to be exhausted by the time she got home!

Maia had a really good excuse too. She was the one with everything on the line at that point, not Isaac. Of course she wouldn't have any time for trash talking. It was probably a stupid question for the boy to even ask in the first place. Although he couldn't help but notice that she was blushing and stammering in response just as much as he was. For a second, the thought crossed Isaac's mind that Maia wasn't being entirely honest with him. In exactly the same ways he was being dishonest with her, maybe?
Of course, that deduction failed to take into account the fact that it was impossible, no matter how much he wished it was true.
The laser tag room was nice and dark, just how Isaac liked it. It made the neon lighting of the targets, cyan and orange, all the brighter. The outfits looked a little goofy, with bright lines running down the sides of the chestplates and Dragon Ball Z style eye pieces atop the right eyes of the helmets. However, the silliness of the presentation was half of the fun. It was like stepping into the future, if the future was designed by tacky marketing executives. Bright cores on the chest, back, and sides represented accepted targeting regions, with smaller ones on the sides of the head and back. There was a small handful of other people there, but right now nothing too hectic. The two wouldn't be left with much of a wait for slotting into a game.
"Here we are. Elliot and I used to feud day in and day out at these places. When we last went on vacation, we must've torn through our entire allowances having a marathon battle," he boasted. It made him a little sad and nostalgic, but he tried not to let that show in his face. This was before the incident with Elliot's leg, after all, and nowadays he wouldn't be able to participate in laser tag no matter how badly he wanted to. Most of the fun times Isaac boasted about were many years ago now, and he would've been a good deal rusted from his peak.
"Are we teaming up, or do you want to try and take me on?" he asked, honestly unsure which he'd prefer to do.

There was a chance that, while Maia wasn't entirely honest with Isaac, she wasn't necessarily honest with herself, either. No way would she admit that she may like the boy in a way beyond friends! It was very conflicting! They were... they were friends. That was it. Just really good friends. Yup. Just had to keep telling herself that. Plus, there was no way Isaac would feel that way! Even if Alicia said it seemed like he did, that wasn't necessarily accurate.
It took a moment for Maia's eyes to adjust to the dark room, glancing around it. Wow, it had been a really long time since she'd played this. Did she even remember what to do? Hearing that he had played it so much, the girl shifted a little. Oh, she was going to suck at this! Should she warn him, or let the teen find out on his own?
"I'm really bad at laser tag," she admitted, at the question. "So, uh," she smiled, looking over the room, "depends. Want me to drag you down, or do you want to beat me without breaking a sweat?" The girl used a teasing voice, in some attempt to prevent Isaac from thinking she was talking poorly of herself. It wasn't what she intended with it! It was just the truth! She was really bad at laser tag!

Isaac couldn't help but grin a bit at Maia's humility. "Hey, don't worry about it. Been years since I've really played," he admitted, hoping to reassure her a bit. "Not like Elliot and I have been able to in a long while. Hadn't really found anyone else I wanted to play with since then." In a way, he was almost thankful he found laser tag here. It brought back some good memories, hopefully ones perfect for sharing with someone who really meant a lot to him. Was it weird to think of that so soon? Nah, when you've shared a near-death experience with someone, you tend to care about them way more than you normally would in a way quicker period of time.
Still, he noticed Maia's slight hesitation and started to have an idea. He walked over to the man at the admissions desk, having a quick, quiet conversation. The Japanese words for "first time" and "alone" were audible in the conversation, but unless Maia was paying plenty of attention the two were quiet enough to avoid being significantly overheard. With a nod of approval from the guy at the front desk, a widely-grinning Isaac returned to Maia.
"Good news! Since it's a slow day, I got us a one on one game. We'll be in room 2," he said, indicating to what looked like it'd be the smaller of the two rooms. "Figure this way we can get you eased into it a bit better. You want to be teal or orange?"
