"C'mon, c'mon... are you just going to stand around all day?"
"All these years and you're still so impatient. Can't you tell that our volunteers haven't arrived yet?"
Even in the depths of this forsaken, there was at least some sense of normalcy. At least, that's how these two, a Datamon and a Wizardmon, found the place. Deep in the Dark Area, on the coast of the Sea of Blood, these two found themselves in an increasingly familiar setting. Very familiar, in fact: a line of torches, each about twenty yards apart, led directly to this area, and right off the coast was a functional, if a bit dodgy, dock, as well as a boat. And not just any boat, but one designed in the real world, with a functioning engine to boot! It was here that the Datamon continued to gripe, moving an assortment of medical screens and other complicated looking devices on board. As he checked a power connection, one of the robotic ultimate's many arms coiled up, aiming towards the Wizardmon on the coast.
"You know... just because you don't work with the tech, doesn't mean you can't help me move this on-board!"
"Hmph." Dismissing the Datamon's idle complaint as usual, the Wizardmon bent down on a knee, passing a quick handful of black sand through his gloved hand. "Looks to be calm... and don't worry. If no-one is out here to greet them, they're just not going to think we're here. More polite to look prepared-"
"-Even though we're not- ah, that's it." Getting absorbed into his task, the Datamon's eyes pulsated with various digital screens, earning a shrug from the sorcerer.
"Oh, just be glad the Saberdramon are leaving us alone. We'll have to thank Mummymon for that later." He was another researcher, though on a more dedicated project. Though the Datamon merely gave it a hand-wave: "He's too much in debt to us already. And he offered us a canoe for this. Yeah, one good wave and we got way more than eventual global warming to deal with. Anyway, look like anyone comin yet?"

This was not normal for Kai. Not normal at all. He was not prone to signing up for thinsg like this. Things that required a hero. Kai was no hero. In fact... Kai was extremely useless. He'd seen this, time and time again. Every time, he was the one who needed help, not the one who provided it. The fact that lately this seemed to be changing had no effect on his internal narrative. He was useless, and if this mission failed, it would... Probably be his fault.
So, given the near-obsessive manner in which Kai doubted his own capabilities... Why was he here? Well, mostly because of a comment by none other than his good friend (?) Scout Evans. A comment about maintaining the balance of the world. Among other things the boy had done at the time. He didn't want to think about it. But... By the listing, this really seemed like a 'world balance' issue. If Kai could take even a little bit of the burden off of Scout... He owed it a try, right?
And moreover- He was, technically, qualified for this. Ultimate level was exactly where his partners were at. And powerfully, too. He had doubts as to his own suitability for this- But Shiro could handle it. Kuro too, but Shiro was the one who was excited over this. Too excited, perhaps. It both gave Kai hope, and a bit of fear. This was his first time in the Dark Area- And by all accounts, it wasn't exactly the safest place in the Digital World. Even finding a Trailmon willing to take him here had been a hassle. It was... Less than encouraging.
"Hurry up, Kai! We're almost there! I can feel it!" Shiro ran out in front. Kai had warned him about watching where he was going... But it didn't seem to have helped. "We can still turn back, you know." Kuro whispered in his ear. Personally, she was torn on the matter. On the one hand... They didn't really know a lot about what was going on. She didn't want to see Kai or Shiro hurt. On the other hand... Perhaps this would finally be enough to snap Kai out of the funk he seemed to have been in, lately.
"No... No, let's keep going." Kai responded. He knew it was a bad idea. Remember what happened last time he ignored Kuro's advice on something like this? Giygas happened. Yeah. Fun times. But he pushed ahead anyways, keeping a sharp eye on Shiro. He was only a Rookie, at the moment. If something strong attacked... He could be gone without a chance to evolve. So Kai kept a sharp eye on him, and everything else.
Eventually, they crossed one last ridge. There it was, the Sea of Blood. And a pair of lines of lit torches told him where to go. "Err..." he started, approaching the two Digimon working at the shore. "Are you the mission requestees?" Oh, how awkward he felt. Silly weak human that he was.

Sometimes, when Elliot was asleep and he could sneak away freely into the dead of the night, Isaac liked to go back to the Dark Area. Not because he liked it there. Goodness, no, it was atrocious. However, after Kouhei rampaged through that research facility and tore it asunder, he couldn't help but feel a little responsible for checking up on the hole every now and then. He always feared that there were secrets in there never meant to be unearthed, ones which could leak out of the Dark Area and wreak havoc on the poor, unsuspecting Digital World behind them. Sure, every time he checked near the hole it was eerily quiet, but he never know which day would break the trend. He showed up, looked around for a few minutes, and returned back to Terminus. It was like clockwork.
Maybe his eyes were particularly sharp that day, or maybe his outing had left the Dark Area fresh in his mind. Whatever the reason, he had noticed the research flier speaking about an anomaly in the Sea of Blood. It was a beautiful sounding area, really, except for all the parts where it sounded freaking horrific instead. Still, by now he had long had time to process the fact that he was stuck in Japan, and by association the Digital World, for good. He had achieved a powerful new form, the unpredictable Orochimon, and figured there was no better way to break it in than with some noble deeds done dirt cheap. He wasn't a hero or anything, but if he could make a difference with his gift, why wouldn't he? It would just be the difficult matter of sneaking it past Elliot. The boy was generally pretty blissfully unaware. How hard could it be?
Judging by Isaac waking up the next day with Elliot hovering over him and holding out the flier? Not very.
"You were going, weren't you?" the younger brother demanded.
"It's 10 in the morning, are we really doing this now?" Isaac pleaded sleepily. He tried to pull the covers over his head to avoid getting the third degree.
"Isaac, you said it yourself. We're a team. You should've told me the second you found this."
"You weren't even awake when I got back-"
"So you really have been sneaking out, huh?"
"Well, crap. You caught me."
"I'm not letting you go alone. The Dark Area's big and scary and dangerous, and you could get really hurt! What about that robot you fought? Did you already forget that? Elliot asked.
"I know! That's why I have to do this myself. I'm not getting you hurt. You've been having a hard enough time adjusting without trying to fight deep-sea whatchamacallits. Besides, I thought you were tired of Digital World adventures," Isaac replied.
"I'd rather go with you and get hurt than be cooped up here worrying about you."
Isaac took in a deep sigh. "Alright, fine. Just please, keep safe, okay?" If he was already telling people, he figured he'd tell the other most important person he knew. A quick text informed Maia of his decision, and why. The first text response immediately called him an idiot. The second let him know she'd be on her way in a few minutes. On one hand, knowing that she'd be there really helped reassure him. On the other hand, now there were two people he was prepared to risk his many, snake-headed necks for. This was going to be a long day.
And that was how Elliot and Isaac ended up at the Sea of Blood. They stood at attention, ready for the debriefing on their most deadly adventure yet.

Scout, as always, is up at the crack of the dawn. He's showered and dressed before most of his family have even woken up. He's not really sure what to expect from today, but from the sound of the whole affair? It's going to be...dangerous. Probably more dangerous than anything else he's done. Part of him had considered asking Takahiro to join him, so they could've fought side-by-side against whatever threat is endangering so many. ...The power of OmegaShoutmon DX wouldn't've hurt, either. Still, he wishes he had more information to go on. Wait, what is he thinking? That's the kind of attitude Takahiro takes. Nope. Best to rush in there and deal with the situation as it develops. Hope for the best and prepare for the worst. He clutches his D-Scanner a little more tightly in his hand, feeling strangely comforted by the plastic device. This made him... safe, to a degree. It helped him protect himself and others, and stop things like this anomaly from getting so out of control that people or Digimon were endangered. "Mom! Dad!" He yells, as he prepares to set off, "I'm going to help deal with, and probably end up fighting a living ocean or something that might want to kill everything, do you want anything from the store before I go?". There's a brief pause before his dad calls back, groggily, "No thanks. Are you going to be back for dinner?". Huh. Maybe?. "I dunno! I'll take care of it myself when I get back!". Another pause, before his mom responds, "Make sure you take a jacket!". Well, alright then. Either the best, or worst parents in the world. Certainly some of the most liberal. BlackAgumon is sort of...blocking the front door, arms folded as best as he can manage, "I was gonna say 'tryin' to sneak off without me, Kid?', but I'm not sure you even know the meaning of 'sneak'," Also fair. Scout grimaces, "It could be dangerous, I didn't want to drag you into another mess I signed up for,". The little reptile snorts, "Uh huh. I came to live here, didn't I? And it's not like I've ever said 'no' before, Kid,". Well. When you put it like that... And that's how it came to pass that Scout chose the most ridiculous method of transportation he could think of, riding on MetalGreymon's back. The pair touch down a short distance from the line of torches, and Scout climbs down to the ground. As MetalGreymon degenerates into BlackAgumon, the pair move forwards, spotting other figures! ...Most of them, they don't recognize, but hey! That looks like-- "Kai!" Yeah, him.

Stupid. This was all stupid! What had Maia been thinking by telling Isaac that she'd join them on this mission? Sure, she couldn't let them go alone, but what help was she going to be? Instead, she'd probably be the only tamer there, and be in the way of everything, per usual. That didn't feel particularly promising. The feeling of potentially dying had been nagging her since she'd sent the second text to the boy. But, it was too late now. She wasn't going to turn back. Even if Kuu probably wasn't going to be as helpful as they needed in this entire thing.
Kuu was busy trying to sniff his tamer's hair, occasionally throwing glances around the area. This place was spooky! Good thing they weren't going alone! "Think I'll get to eat anyone?" Well, that was quite the question. Slowly, the girl would turn her head to give the Kudamon a crazed stare.
"You're not allowed to eat anyone," she affirmed, hearing a groan from her partner. This was only furthering the thought that they weren't even kind of qualified for this mission! If Kuu seriously thought that he could eat anything along the way, she was bound to be in a lot of trouble. Again, it was too late to turn back. Even if someone offered it to her, she wouldn't take the option.
Getting to The Dark Area had been hassle enough, considering there were few souls that seemed to want to go there. But, she had managed. "I will if I gotta," he stated, pointedly. It wasn't like much would fit in his mouth, anyway, so she supposed there wasn't that much to worry about. Or, she certainly hoped there wasn't. Being wrong in this instance didn't sound appealing, after all!
Seeing other people, it became clear that she may have been the last person that they were waiting on. Oops. Well, it couldn't be helped. At least she showed up! It was easy to pick Isaac and Elliot out of the group, as Kuu began to bounce on his tamer's shoulder. As she was about to say hello to them, the Kudamon jumped to her other shoulder, clearly interested in someone else. "Shiro! Maia! Look! Shiro's here! This is great! We're gonna be great!" Wait, why was Shiro here? That had to mean that his tamer was here, too.
Looking at the group, she found that she was pretty familiar with all except for one of the people here. Well, that was convenient! But, if she'd known her neighbor was taking up this task, she would have offered to travel with him. Maybe it would have been easier! Still, she focused on Elliot and Isaac, although she briefly waved toward Kai, if he noticed. It seemed someone else was wanting his attention, anyway. "I still don't know why you guys think this is a good idea," she felt the need to start with, talking to the brothers. Well, that was a warm hello!

"Guess you could say I see a few."
The sorcerer knew that three groups had taken up his offer, but only knew a fair bit about each one of them: a twin-wielding tamer, a spirit user, and one more traditional pair of a human and Digimon. Past this, all he knew were that all of them met the requirements, and that they would be meeting up here within the next hour. Well, provided they were punctual, anyway.
First up was Kai's group: an energetic white cat, a black weasel, and their rather unsure human partner crossed the last lantern, approaching the Wizardmon on the coast. By appearances, Kai seemed unused to these sorts of requests, but nonetheless the digimon tipped his hat. "That would be us, the Dark Area researchers. Please wait just a little bit longer. I don't want to go over this three times, and it seems that you're just a touch early." Reasonable enough. The Datamon kept with his electrical work in the back, some incoherent frustrated muttering continuing in the background.
The second group didn't take too much longer, though they were a fair bit younger than either host had expected. Well, at least Elliot was...and didn't only one of them take out the offer? No matter at this point, maybe one of them was just in a holosuit. "Ah, welcome... to whom do I have the pleasure of speaking with here?" If his math was correct, and this was a human and a disguised partner, then the spirit user would be next...
... Except it wasn't. And this one was far more forward than any of the groups that they would be seeing today, coming directly in on his ultimate partner, a MetalGreymon. "Hey, watch the chop you're kicking up, jeez!" Datamon's annoyance became vocal in the back, as this third group touched down. The Wizard, holding his hat to keep it in place, looked on as the human moved to address Kai. Well, that was all well and good, but then... ah, whatever. Three groups, just as planned. "Well if we're all here-"
Nope! One more... and another tamer pair, to boot! One more group than expected, the girl moving towards Elliot and the second weasel of the day focusing on the first's pair's cat. The Wizardmon blinked, and gave a sigh. Such communication in the Digital World wasn't uncommon, but from a logistics standpoint, this was pure chaos. "Alright... I asked for three, and got five. Datamon?"
"Bah, we have the space!"
"Fair enough." Were more heads better? They'd soon find out, at least. "Though, for all of you... I have to say, there's at least a couple who have no idea what we're getting into. If we're all doing this, you all are going to be working together for the next several hours... so, those of you who actually signed up, please raise your hands so I know just how much of this I have to explain. And take two or three minutes, get to know everyone else here. Might be the last bit of peace you all see for a while.

Kai nodded in acknowledgement, then stepped off to the side as he waited for whoever else responded to the notice. Who would it be, he wondered? He wasn't waiting long, as a pair of... kids? joined them. So young! Kai was shocked. Oh, but lets face it. Just because they were young, didn't mean they weren't better than him. But still... So young. He'd never be able to forgive himself if they got hurt. So he'd just have to make sure that never happened.
"S-Scout!?" Kai called, surprised. He was still conflicted from his last meeting with the boy. Scout hadn't meant anything by it, r-right? It was just him being friendly, like he always was! That was all there was to it! Still, Kai blushed at the memory, and averted his eyes. Great, he'd gone to not being able to look directly at Scout because of the SkullGreymon incident, to not being able to look at him because...
His embarassment was interrupted by a friendly shout of, "Kuu!" As Shiro leapt excitedly over to the other Digimon, Kai tried to return Kuu's tamer's wave. But She seemed more interested in the younger kids who had arrived earlier- She knew them, apparently. Well, he couldn't expect her not to know people he didn't know! Hey- Wait a second.
"Does this mean you're Ultimate too!?" Shiro said excitedly, as he bounded up to Kuu. Exactly what Kai had been thinking- Maia hadn't become a Tamer until a while after he had- Had she really caught up to him so fast? Then again... Well, what else could he expect from someone who was so meant to be a Tamer that her egg and digivice were mailed to her? Kai... Still couldn't say for certain that he was meant to be a tamer in the first place. And that was why he was the least qualified member of this group.
Kai raised his hand at Wizardmon's question. He had signed up, and had- A general idea of what was going on. Didn't really get the exact details, but apparently they'd be... Purging some level of virus or something from the mind of a Digimon? He didn't get how they were going to get in, but he trusted that the two requestees would take care of that.

"I'm Isaac, and this is my bro, Elliot," Isaac said confidently. "He wasn't going to come originally, but he insisted. Hope he'll be able to provide you guys with some extra backup." Nothing about the brightly-grinning, scrawny thirteen year old with a bad leg screamed backup. If anything, the only way "Elliot" and "Backup" seemed to be fit in the same sentence would be with the words "has fallen and dropped his walking stick, and is now in desperate need of some" sandwiched in between. Getting the sense that he wasn't exactly the toughest looking kid in the world, he flashed his Digivice to show he'd at least be able to help contribute.
Then Maia came around, Isaac waving as he noticed her. She didn't sound too happy, but damn if her presence wasn't a comfort to the teen. It was also a huge, flagrant worry, because this mission seemed freakishly dangerous, but something about knowing she was by his side made everything feel alright. "Good idea? Nope, not in the slightest. But if I'm gonna be in Japan for the rest of my life, and right next to the Digital World, I really want to just do something helpful with it. This could be my one chance to just do something big. Feel like I'm actually helping for a change." Isaac's answer was earnest, and though he tried to start of casual to avoid worrying Maia he found himself trailing off by the end of it.
"Look, I promise. I'll be careful. And I'll be damned if I let anything bad happen to Elliot or you. But really, thanks for coming along. You don't know how much it helps having you here with me," he said, blushing slightly at the admission.
Elliot, meanwhile, found himself wandering over to Kai and Scout. They didn't look familiar in the slightest, but half the point of today was meeting new people. Besides, Isaac and Maia might've needed their alone time if this was the big, dramatic last boat before the mission. "Hello! My name is Elliot! It is very nice to meet you. What are your names?" he asked, hoping to quickly get to know the others before they started setting sail for danger.

"Yeah, S-Scout?!" The teen responds to Kai's little...outburst with a small smile. Kai looks uncomfortable though, all kind of--...was that a blush? Why? Scout quickly checks his reflection in the screen of his D-Scanner. Nope. No ketchup. Kai's being weird.
He's about to question it again when Elliot wanders over. His smile digivolves into a wide grin as he extends a hand in a bizarrely enthusiastic manner, "Hey, Elliot! I'm Scout, and this is my buddy BlackAgumon! Don't mind him, he can be a real grump sometimes," The little reptile grunts. What? It's true.
Scout isn't so sure about bringing these two along, they're kinda young...but then he remembers that Takahiro is about their age as well, and he's pretty damned competent. Oh well. He can always make sure they're okay as they go. He'll just have to make sure that it doesn't seem like he's doubting their abilities. They wouldn't be here if they didn't think they could handle it, after all.
Speaking of handling it, Kai's here? That advertisement said Ultimate! Sure, they'd spoken once or twice since Kai had been injured, but mostly it'd been a blur since SkullGreymon. Heck, he hadn't even told Kai about his Beast Spirits, and here the other boy was, ready to play with the big boys. Very impressive!

Scrambling off of Maia's shoulder, Kuu hurried to greet his cat-esque friend. Huh! Now that Maia thought about it, she had no idea that the twins could hit Ultimate! As for them? "Well," Maia was about to comment, but Kuu beat her to answering the other rookie. The question was directed at him, anyway! "Totally! I got this!" In theory. Confidence wasn't entirely there with his tamer. They were just going to get in the way!
At least Isaac knew this was a bad idea! It still wasn't overly promising to the teen, but she'd take it as a start! And, what was this about helping? Why did he feel the need to help with something like this? A good start to helping would be not to go on dangerous missions that could give her a heart attack! "T-that's great, but worry about yourself more," she murmured, throwing a glance to her Digimon. She didn't want anyone doing something stupid for her that would end in a sacrifice! "Kuu can make sure I'm safe." After all, she wouldn't forgive herself if Isaac got hurt over her. Or, anyone, for that matter.
Black tipped ears twitched as the fox turned his head toward Maia, "I'm a hero! But, I thought Isaac's supposed to protect you from stuff?"
To this, his tamer froze up, glancing around the area. "N-no, Kuu. That's... really supposed to be your job," she sighed, trying to think of a way to hide her blush. The Digimon was such an embarrassment! Was he trying to get out of keeping her safe, or something? That hardly seemed right! Or heroic! Hopefully he was going to take this seriously!
...Okay, she was screwed.
With the request to raise their hands if they had actually signed up, Maia threw a glance to Isaac. Had they? The boy she was unfamiliar with didn't seem to raise his hand, either. Maybe the question had gone unheard. But, not to her Kudamon, who enthusiastically began waving his paw in the air. Wait. What? "Kuu, do you even know what you're doing?"
To this, the Digimon answered in a most suiting manner of, "do I ever?" Well! At least he was aware!

Well... its clear Isaac signed up. And there's at least two other hands... I guess it doesn't really matter so long as they're all on board.
The Wizardmon gave an audible sigh, as he let the group co-mingle for a bit. Datamon's previous gruff tone had been replaced with a none-too-attractive cackle, shaking his head at just how quickly the sorcerer lost control of the situation. "Quite the crowd you've got yourself, ain't it?"
"Oh, none of that. At the very least, I see the potential of this group." He was sure that they would be able to follow simple directions, anyway, at least until they would cross the line. He would let this go on for a minute longer, before tapping his staff against the ground. "Alright! Attention!" The sorcerer would wait until he had most eyes looking at him. "Its apparent to me, that we have at least one or two unsigned groups here. I don't mind this, but that will mean space on the boat will be a bit cramped... and that not all of you know what we're doing here. So I'll go over it in brief."
Raising an arm, he motioned behind him, towards the Sea of Blood. "Datamon and myself are researchers of this mass, the Sea of Blood. A corruptive force to all but the most hardened of Virus types... but a completely necessary part of the Digital World. As it stands, it lets the rest of the world's data be relatively corruption-free, and as a body of... 'water', it helps regulate our surface temperature. Local temperatures have risen disproportionately, however, and a consistent sector of this ocean has been off-kilter. To put it in layman's terms..."
Wizardmon fumbled with his words. "Um... a big mass of living data is 'sick'. That's an obtuse way of saying it, of course, but it speaks most accurately to what you'll all be doing. In short, its not possible for us to go into the ocean, and even if we could, there's no way for that to be of any use. Trust me, Datamon's tried. What you will be doing, is having your consciousness enter the data. The system that Datamon and myself have developed is sound and can safely do so... but a few ground rules. First..."
He looked over the group. "I'll need all of you in Rookie form, if you are not already. That includes you, Isaac, Elliot: the machine is not built to handle spirit transformations on a mental state, so you must enter as Digimon. And second, we do have an 'escape' set: if, for whatever reason, you feel it is unsafe to continue, and especially if you are in peril, strongly say or think the word 'escape'. Said with the same mental intent, you will be torn out and brought back to reality... but you won't be able to join back in."
Why say this? "That said. We have no way of knowing what is on the other side, for certain. Damage on the other side will affect your mental state here, so don't think of it as safe. If you become incapacitated on the other side, there's no guarantee we'll be able to drag you back. If any of you want out? Now's the time to give the word."

Well, Kuro and Shiro were always in Rookie form, so that wouldn't be a problem. Escape. Escape, escape, escape. Okay, easy enough. A way out. Knowing him, he'd probably trigger it by accident, right when he was needed the most. He still didn't quite get the whole, consciousness enter, thing. So, their bodies wouldn't be at stake... But their minds were? Somehow... That almost seemed worse. Especially with young kids in the group. And Maia. He'd never forgive himself if any of them were hurt.
That's great! I can't wait to see you in action!" Shiro enthusiastically told Kuu. The White Digimon was almost as fond of Maia's partner, as said partner was of him! Didn't those two have any sense of tension? This was dangerous! Should they really be so... carefree?
And then there was Scout. Kai didn't want to think about that right now, so he busied himself with introductions. "Nice to meet you, Elliot. I'm Kai, and these are my partners." He indicated the white cat-like creature playing with Kuu. "Shiro, and" he indicated the black mustelid wrapped around his neck, "Kuro." Kuro nodded to acknowledge the introduction, but as usual, chose not to speak.
Kai stared at the boat. Could he really do this? Was he really ready... to do something so big? No. No he wasn't. He should back out now, before he got in the way... But he knew Shiro would never agree to that. So what, he could drag Shiro away kicking and screaming, if he had to. He should stay out of the way of the people who knew what they were doing. But what if they needed help?
Well, in the end, Kai ended up standing in the boat with his partners. This was a terrible idea, he knew it, Kuro knew it... But he'd never forgive himself if Maia, Scout, or these two boys got hurt. Not if he had decided to stay out. At least this way... He would be able to try to save them, in the case of the worst.

Elliot grinned as he finished getting acquainted with the two new humans and three new Digimon here. They seemed perfectly nice, and they were Maia's friends too. There was no way they could be anything but great people! "No need to worry," he said merrily at Scout's statement. "So is my brother. Sometimes. He's in a pretty good mood today, though." For obvious reasons. If teasing Isaac about Maia hadn't lost its luster almost a week ago, it was clear Elliot would've dragged that old joke up again for one last ride. Instead, he simply turned to the nice wizard man and brain robot to listen to their debriefing of the mission.
"What? Worry about me?" Isaac asked, doing his best to keep his voice light. Maybe it'd help him choke down the fear that was starting to build up more closely in his gut. The hour of the adventure's start was getting closer and closer, and he had to admit he was having second thoughts. What if he got Elliot and Maia hurt after stupidly dragging them into this mess? There'd be nothing that would stop him from blaming himself after such a horrid mess. What if Orochimon wasn't strong enough? He was only a fraction of a spirit's full power, and even if he was Ultimate class he likely wouldn't be at the strength Datamon and Wizardmon were perfectly hoping for. It seemed increasingly clear that he was the weak link of the team. Would he just disappoint them?
"I've been taking care of myself with nothing but my wits and my bro for weeks now. I've been forced to survive this long, and I'll be damned if I don't pull through now." He didn't sound entirely convinced, but it was clear he was doing his best to be the morale for the group. "Besides, do you think I'd ever forgive myself for getting hurt and worrying you?" he added, putting a gentle hand on her shoulder. "Please, for your sake I'd get through this without a scratch on me."
It was time for the group to get ready for primetime. Elliot and Isaac stood next to each other, prepared to try out what they've been rehearsing since Alicia introduced them to badass transformation sequences.
"First spark in the maelstrom of chaos! Arise, Impmon!" A ball of fire surrounded Isaac, imploding inwards and swallowing the boy beneath it. Then it exploded out again, Impmon floating within the center of the harmless blast. He did a quick backflip and landed gracefully.
"First link in the chain of order! Come on, Veemon!" A bright white light surrounded Elliot, enveloping the boy like a cocoon. The sound of steel smashing steel echoed as the cocoon slowly deformed into the shape of Veemon. The light faded and he stood, primed and ready to fight.
Well, that's what they would've done, if this wasn't the most threatening life-or-death situation that the brothers had ever been in. They kept the theatrics and pageantry sequestered away in their minds, instead just turning from human to Digimon in a standard cocoon of light. Elliot made his way to the boat, while Isaac turned to Maia and waited to go with her. He was nervous, surely she was nervous, but they didn't need to face this alone.

Ooh. More spirit users. Well that makes sense. He hadn't seen partner Digimon with either of them, after all. He glances at BlackAgumon as he fishes his own garishly coloured D-Scanner back out, and flips aaaaaalllllll the way back to the first spirit in his directory. He's a little rusty with this one... "Kyoryu Soul! Kiba Digivolution!" Well, Scout always enjoys his theatrics. An egg-shaped cocoon of fire wraps around his body as it stretches and contorts into a six-and-a-half foot tall lizard with an oversized head and a leathery orange hide. Lovely! "Digivolve to...BigAgumon!". The cocoon dissolves into sparks and embers, which soon fade into nothingness altogether. While his new forms holds a striking resemblence to BlackAgumon, there are a few differences. The height difference is the most obvious, as well as the colouring. However he also lacks BlackAgumon's arm-belts, and has a somewhat more...bestial appearance? BlackAgumon merely rolls his eyes as the two of them make ready to depart with the rest of this insane group of adventurers. Is BlackAgumon worried? A little, but only because he knows Scout won't be. Nope, this is just another chance for the idiot-teen to help someone out, which means all concerns for his personal safety go out the window. Ugh. Maybe he should've picked a different kid.

Kuu didn't know how to have tension unless he was in the middle of protecting his tamer! Instead, he just nodded at Shiro, shouting, "we're gonna be the best!" Well, at least he wasn't worried! If Shiro and Kuu were both fine, everything had to turn out perfect!
On the bright side, Kuu didn't need to change any forms, since he was already rookie. So, Maia was all set! Except, what was this about leaving their bodies behind? Was that a thing that could really be done? The tamer really couldn't handle much more mental stress than she already had! What would damage to her mind do? ...Good thing she wasn't going to be actually attacking anything, herself.
"J-just be safe. Please," Maia sighed, trying to keep herself settled down. She was even given a chance to back out now! But, everyone else was standing their ground despite the potential terrors. Even Kai. And, Kuu wasn't just going to let them leave. Not with Shiro and Elliot on board! "Okay," she sighed, mostly to herself, as Kuu hopped over to follow her. Just remember: Escape. But, would she use it? At least it was easy to remember!
Reaching the boat, she looked to the spirit users, doing their evolution things. Looking to Kai, she gave him an almost awkward smile, "try not to get hurt, alright?" Sure, she had been busy fretting over Isaac getting injured, but it didn't mean that she didn't feel the same way about everyone else involved! After his last injuries, Maia couldn't deny that she was nervous about Kai being here. Then again, she was also worried for herself in the same regard. "It's nice not to be the only one that can't," she paused, making a quick motion to the three spirit users, "do that." Was that really a good thing, though? That made two potentially useless people! Unless, Kai actually knew what to do in case of a conflict. Then, it still just left Maia to being unhelpful as ever.
