Well, well, this group had a bit of bite to them, didn't they? The Bubbles were rather simple constructs: despite their straightforward, offensive power, the individual bullets had little stopping power against major attacks. Even for these 'champions', Blackagumon's fireball (and much less surprisingly, Shiro's Yang Blast) struck home against two of the creatures. Their bodies didn't behave like normal Digimon, though: with the rookie's fireball, the targeted Bubbles merely shot at the projectile, until it connected, cleanly tearing through its top half. A flat texture marked the top, almost like a paste, similar splatter visible behind the creature. The stronger Yang Blast just left its base: unperturbed, the other two Bubbles kept with their original targets. The one on Kuu, realizing she was a touch hard to hit, turned its aim on Shiro. The other, seeing the Veemon move, stopped firing and crawled on its arms once more, in an effort to chase after him, Impmon's parting explosion wounding its arm.
It would have been reasonable to say that at least two of these foes had been neutralized..
However, the group would find something far more troubling: at both of the damaged Bubbles, the cord behind them began to pulse. A red goop, similar to that which had caked Kuu's hand, grew and erupted forth, roughly taking the shape of the 'slain' creature. In all but an instant, the creature that the Blackagumon had struck, was already back to its original state, and now started to fire straight at his attacker (since the Impmon was no-where to be seen!). The other took a moment longer, but would soon re-take its shape as well, all cannons focused on Shiro. If that was all they had for this approach, they weren't going to last long against this foe.
Good-old Pendulum Feet, however? Unlike the Bubbles, the scythed creature seemed to have a bit of bite: with the oncoming fireballs, its coat unfurled, two blades cutting the offending attacks in half, splitting and spinning them into the woods behind it. Staring at Maia for a moment longer, the D-Reaper's gaze flickered over to the glowing Reppamon, then at the further OmegaShoutmon. It almost seemed to hesitate for a second-
Pop!
What was this? Amidst all this, that Impmon from before simply 'appeared' right next to this stronger entity. It took a bare moment for the creature to recognize this, before it would do two things in quick sequence.
One: it would flick a single cord outward, a metal ball rolling on the ground towards the Reppamon's direction. Two, towards the dazed Impmon, the Pendulum-feet would dart forth, revealing its several scythes and cords that practically made up its body. Its goal was to ensnare the Impmon in its grip, and pluck it off the ground.
And as for the ball rolling towards Kuu and Maia?
Once it would come to a stop, about a foot before them, it would flash red. At first, slowly, but it would increase in tempo over the next several seconds, glowing brighter and brighter...

Shiro was slightly shocked at the sight of his new friends being blown away by his attack! It had just been a friendly ball of energy! He didn't mean to kill anyone! His lower lip started to tremble. Kai thought he might actually start to cry! Apparently the idea that these were 'enemies' and not 'friends' hadn't quite sunk it. Come on, Shiro! Kai got that the white Digimon had difficulty reading the mood... But this was no time for idiocy!
Fortunately for Shiro, and unfortunately for everyone else... The creature soon pulled itself back together.Wow! Teach me how to do that!" Shiro called out to the creature... Not that it seemed interested in talking... If it was even able to! "Err... Shiro... These guys aren't..." Kai never got the chance to finish his statement, as the creature began firing again. Shiro was happy to soak the blasts- Very happy indeed. But this game was getting old! "Catch me if you can!" the white Digimon called at his new friend, his great wings beating as Shiro took flight.
Kai had no idea what to do. Should he stay on the ground, try to help out the others? Or should he go with Shiro? He didn't know! He had very little combat experience! He didn't know how it worked! And either way he went... Wouldn't he be in the way? And he didn't have time to decide! If he waited, Shiro would fly out of reach, and he'd be out of options! But could he really just abandon Maia, Kuu, Scout, B, and the two others he hadn't met before?
Apparently he could, as his fist gripped a tuft of fur on Shiro's hind leg. If it weren't for his excessive club activities... There was no way he could hold on. But somehow, he managed to keep a grip as he hauled himself up- Fortunately, the thick, course fur made excellent handholds. It wasn't a pleasant climb, in fact, it felt rather like climbing a pine tree- The fur which was so easy to grip, was also course enough to be prickly. But he somehow managed to reach Shiro's back. Hey, it was a lot easier than trying to climb a SkullGreymon, at least!
Back on the ground, Kuro had apparently managed to evade the attention of the attackers. Or at least, she had for now. And, with any luck- It would stay that way. She rather liked the idea of getting through this with her fur unruffled. Almost as much as she liked the idea of getting through this with her, her brother, and their tamer intact. Which was why she made an action that may very well attract some attention. "Yin Gatling!" the black Digimon called, before firing a sequence of five weak black orbs, one at each of the aggressors. The goal was not so much to do damage, as to assess the strength of each foe. Unlike Shiro, and to a lesser degree Kai... Kuro at least had some semblance of an idea on how to fight.

The good news is that the Bubbles would not end up finding a Veemon. The better news was that it would instead be finding a powerful gout of flame. After retreating Elliot had Digivolved up to his Strikedramon form, and with a shout of "Get away from me! Tailblazer!" he dramatically burst from the clearing. He aimed his tail right at the Bubbles, firing a white-hot jet of flame while desperately staring the creature down. Unlike the solitary fireballs of Shiro and B, this attack would be a sustained, consistent burst of power. And Elliot didn't plan on letting go until he was absolutely sure this thing was done following him. If it ever left his sight, he planned to keep firing for at least a few seconds more. This thing had him really on edge, and he wasn't feeling comfortable taking any chances. With his comparative isolation from the group, he was banking everything on ensuring this attack was successful.
Did Isaac really have the opportunity to avoid this one? He was completely wrapped up in Pendulum Feet's grip, the bladed hooks digging into his flesh. At least it didn't burn as much as it burned Kuu, more like a dull throbbing feeling that lowered his guard and gnawed at his concentration. It made up for this by being incredibly painful due to the several sharp objects penetrating into his skin. It seemed for now the grip was mostly surface, to adhere Isaac and keep him from escaping, but the scared boy had no idea how long it would be until Pendulum Feet decided to tear him to shreds. Attempting to writhe out of his grip lead to one of his long ears brushing up against the monster's cloak, leaving Isaac cringing in pain from the sudden burning feeling. It seemed for now, his best course of action was slow, deliberate movements and keeping as still as possible.
That was why he moved his hand with the stillness of a surgeon, slowly reaching it up towards the Pendulum Feet's body. It was a long shot, but maybe a properly-placed explosion could buy him some much needed breathing room. Generating a tiny fireball at the edge of his finger, he flicked it forward with a shout of "Imp-losion!" It was mostly far too point blank to dodge, and the force pushing them in opposite directions would hopefully give Isaac space to be cut loose by an ally, but being so close ranged to an explosion would still sting Isaac pretty bad. It was clear that until he got into a more powerful form, he would be limited to such desperation tactics.

BlackAgumon spots the incoming attacks, and decides to take a stupid page out of Shiro's book. Yup. Standing his ground, "BlackAgumon digivolve to..." His body extends significantly, becoming far more like a theropod dinosaur in shape. His coloration changes to primarily dark blue, with orange stripes across his back, as a bayonet-equipped cannon forms at the tip of his tail, and a sharp metallic blade erupts through the skull-like helmet that covers his upper head. "Greymon!" He takes a few hits, roaring in agony as the attacks strike his flank. "Horn Strike!" He charges across the clearing, ground shaking beneath his feet, and attempts to punt the orb infront of Kuu and Maia away from them! What? They're tiny! Or Maia is, anyway. "Ah! Dammit!" OmegaShoutmon ducks down to avoid any incoming fire. He takes a few seconds to calm himself before triggering another spirit within his data with a verbal command, "Radiant Soul! Victorious Digivolution! OmegaShoutmon digivolve to..." The golden armor on his body shatters, his body stretching upwards once, stopping around the eight feet line this time, as a long thin tail extends from his back, tipped by some great...metal weight. His hands and feet develop razor-sharp claws, as his mouth solidifies into a smooth mouthpiece in the middle of a draconic head. Small wings extend from his back as the light fades, “Arresterdramon,” Ooh! Pretty! What? This is the perfect time to debut an awesome new form. "Great Dragon Buster!" A burning aura of blue energy ignites around him, the air practically crackling with energy. The aura leaves his body in the form of a large energy pulse, which changes into an effigy of AncientGreymon as it soars towards Pendulum Feet, hopefully knocking that thing on its ass for a while. It had to, surely. It was Scout's most powerful attack! And it took way too long to recharge for him to consider trying to use in a rapid-fire fashion. Everyone else seems to be handling themselves alright, at least. A few slip-ups, but even Kai is joining the fight. That seems like it might be a mistake, but something they can deal with later. He doesn't really know the others, but he has a feeling that Maia can take better care of herself than he can, especially with her partner's help. The other two spirit users? ...Well, they're not dead, so. That's...that's something. He really wishes he could DNA Digivolve into his Mega Form right now...

Why would anyone want to sign up for this stupid mission? At least the weird pendulum-footed monster was no longer targeting Maia, but now it was interested in Isaac. This wasn't any better! But, there wasn't much time to focus on all of the events going on around them, considering a metal ball-thing was now rolling toward them. This day was just going to be awful, wasn't it?
Unfortunately, Kuu was more distracted by the fact that Shiro was flying. "No fair! I want to do that, too!" Great priorities, Kuu! For several moments, the Reppamon chose to just watch the other Digimon playing with Kai and the Bubbles. Then, a small thunk to the side of the monster's mask caused him to began shaking his head, "ah! I'm under attack!"
Good job, Kuu. Except, the thunk was from his tamer's hand, instead of any actual threat. "Focus, for once!" Maia snapped, trying to make the Champion realize the severity of the situation. Of course, it wasn't going to work.
As if to prove this, the Reppamon looked at the flashing ball, shouting, "oh! A toy!" Luckily, before he could move toward it, the Greymon had already gotten to it. "I was gonna use that!" the fox whined, receiving another thunk on his mask from his tamer.
"We're in danger! That was probably going to blow up in your face!" How many reminders did she have to give the stupid monster? He would never take any of this seriously!
"Danger sounds fun," Kuu chirped, watching everyone attacking someone. "Who should I play with?" The bubble-monsters looked fun, but so did the one that Scout was attacking! And, well, it had Isaac. Would the attack on the Pendulum guy hurt Isaac, too? Ugh, Maia would be so mad if he just let the boy get hurt! But, where was the fun in this? Oh well, gotta be a hero!
Letting out a huff, the Champion raced toward the wires that ensnared the Impmon, attempting to reach the point before Arresterdramon's attack would land, leaping up and rolling into a somersault. "Spinning Slash!" Was announced, as his bladed tail would hopefully smash down on the cords that held Impmon, to try to free the spirit user. Regardless of it's success, the second he'd hit the ground, Kuu was going to be moving again. He didn't know what a 'Great Dragon Buster' attack would do if he was too close to the target, but he didn't really want to find out first hand! Also, gotta keep Maia safe. He couldn't really do that if he put too much distance between himself and his human!

Kai and Shiro, Pt. 1
As long as Shiro was willing to take them, the Bubbles was more than willing to pump as many shots as he could manage into the white ultimate's chest, a thick red mass forming against his ribs. Unfortunately, it wasn't much of a talker and didn't feel like divulging the secrets to its rather insane regenerative power. But until this group managed to do just that, this was going to be a long, drawn out affair.
Though, the playful 'mon did have one advantage: the Bubbles couldn't fly. Rather, he simply kept his position, and continued firing on Shiro's path as he took off the ground... at least, until Shiro broke through the canopy. Sight lost, it turned its attention elsewhere, but to who? Kuro was nowhere to be seen, and he was running out of targets. Well, there wasn't anything to be done about it: there was still one unmarked. Its arms gorged, aimed right towards the OmegaShoutmon. But for how blatant they were being, it hardly looked like they were fighting for survival.
Elliot
Elliot, however, would have much better luck. The Bubbles after him wasn't in artillery mode, and as it turned the corner to face the bright light of Digivolution, it practically walked right into a thick stream of fire. For a moment, it simply appeared unperturbed, raising its cannons to attack. Cannons that slowly melted, body melting into red goop as it hit the floor in a burnt, twitching mess. Of course, this meant nothing if it could just regenerate the damage-
Wow. This Strikedramon was being thorough, wasn't he? Much more than just its arms fell away, as its main body fell to the flames. And through the center, the heat would pierce through, flames wrapping around, licking at the cord. A few seconds later, the cord would snap, and in the next instant, the Bubbles would let out a high-pitched shriek, before collapsing on its side. Unlike before, the creature didn't reform, instead corroding into burnt, black dust, quickly blowing away in the wind.
Elliot would now know these things' weakness.
BlackAgumon
Throughout the entire process of his Digivolution, there wasn't a lot stopping the Bubbles trailing him from layering a number of shots. Even as he erupted into his new form, he'd find a painful, caked red mass against his exposed side. The pot-shots would continue, but there wouldn't be anything too able to stop him: with a strong kick, the blinking orb would be thrown far away from anyone in the group. And deep in the woods? BOOM. The delayed bomb would go off: through the brush, it was hard to see just how expansive it was, but burning leaves and disintegrated bark was now flowing through the air. If it had gone off right next to Maia, well... it didn't.
Isaac, Pt 1
Indeed, the Pendulum Feet's cords weren't designed to burn, but rather to cut. And in this particular instance, contain. The twitching Digimon was quickly drawn up into its cords, the creature pinning its legs together and its arms against its side, the flats of its scythes pressed dangerously against its back, even digging a bit into the rough skin. It struggled, but the creature had several other problems to deal with right now. Instead of holding him at length, the creature instead would pull him closer, under the cloak, just giving him enough to see outside.
The next few moments were utter chaos, however. It started with the Impmon itself: to any onlooker, it would look like a puff of red flame underneath. The explosion caused the hood to kick upwards, and the cords loosened for the barest moment. Loosened, but didn't give: they would re-tighten a moment later, tighter than before, as if it were angered by its prey trying something like that. But that wasn't the main issue at hand here. Why?
OmegaShoutmon and Kuu
This was why. Granted, the Pendulum Feet had several seconds to observe, as did the Searchers watching above, seeing the elevated power level of the third ultimate level entering the fray. Still, it wasted no time as it prepared its attack, and in the same note, the cloaked D-Reaper wasted no time as well. Why should it? Quickly, it pulled back, as the attack was being prepared: Isaac would see it. Both him, and the approaching Reppamon with blade outstretched, approaching their position. The blade would just nick the cloak, but otherwise there was little a land-based Digimon could do to this flying enemy. And besides, this lack of coordination would only serve this fleeing creature's benefit.
Letting down its hood, it would turn, and retreat in the direction of its cord, straight through the canopy of the woods. Subsequently, this left the remaining group in an awkward position:
A Great Dragon Buster was behind, and headed right towards Kuu's current position! Thankfully, the Reppamon had already thought ahead of this, ready to skirt out of the way. But it would prevent him from easily pursuing, at least for the next few moments!
Kuro
Unfortunately, any bullet fired at the Pendulum Feet went the same was as OmegaShoutmon's burst. The three remaining Bubbles would take perhaps more damage than Kuro expected: two lost arm, and one lost a head, before their regeneration would take hold. It would appear that these 'Bubbles' were relatively 'Champion' level, at least at a glance, with no real defense or armor to speak of. Just big glass cannons. That said, unless she got serious, they would likely find where those black balls were shooting from, sooner or later...
Kai and Shiro, Pt. 2
As the Digimon and tamer pair would break through the canopy, two things would be clear: one, they were outside the fight, and two, they hadn't quite left the war. As they took to the skies, Scouts fluttering away as the trees shook around, it would be the first time that anyone in the group would get a good look at their surroundings.
And it was made plainly clear that their problems didn't just consist of four cannons and a weird cloaked monster. No: their surroundings were stark, large amounts of the forest replaced with a flat, barren wasteland. And trudging through were several powerful-looking constructs: the closer ones looking like green beetles, and those just a bit further out looking like massive abominations.

And it wasn't as if their was one of each, with at least three of each in immediate view. At least within a football field's range, at least one of the green, brutish types was trampling its way through one of the few remaining wooded areas. One a fairer distance away struck its fist against the ground, a Musyamon parrying before being blown back several feet - wait, there were other Digimon here? Yes. This wasn't just a passive battlefield: it was a warzone. These things were already in combat: several layers fired from a pink monstrosity's head, grazing a Magnamon's side to send its tired, smoking body careening into the ground. But perhaps the battle in itself wouldn't be the first thing they would notice. It was hard to miss the large red mass, a little over a mile out, covering an expansive area. Heat radiated from there, making this environment absolutely sweltering. And over its territory, a number of Pendulum Feet circled around. Over the mass itself stood one massive solitary creature, sitting under a white sphere: Fortunately, this large purple... 'thing' didn't seem too interested in joining the battle. It instead circled around, protecting whatever this sphere was. Hopefully, this pair wouldn't get too distracted. A fresh Pendulum Feet had spotted them from above, and darted from below. Unlike with Elliot, this one instead enshrouded itself entirely in its cloak: glowing red, it aimed to slam right against the dragon's side, like a bullet! Isaac, Pt. 2
These sights weren't reserved just for Kai and Shiro, unfortunately. With the initial Pendulum Feet's exit, the creature made it a point to tear away as fast as possible. From what it knew about rookie Digimon, the creature made it a point to stay high enough above the ground, to both stay out of easy range of allies, and to dissuade the imp from wanting to struggle out. Soon enough, the ground below would turn from wasteland, to mysterious red goop. If their was one solace, the other creatures around seemed to be ignoring them. Or perhaps this wasn't a settling thought at all. Either way, the bladed monster would waste no time, to try and bring this one back to the 'nest'... that white sphere growing closer and closer...
Bubbles firing on Greymon Bubbles firing on Kuu Bubbles firing on Omegashoutmon Bubbles cord has been severed. Pendulum Feet has fled!
Kuro's attack damaged all three Bubbles. Regenerating. MetalGreymon is inflicted with 'Red Decay' Shiro is inflicted with 'Red Decay' ? ? ? revealed as 'Time Bomb'.

Triumph
Elliot's face went from a mask of fear to an excited grin as he drew first blood in this matchup. The Bubbles that had once been pursuing him was now reduced to a smoldering pile. While in his panic it was hard to see exactly what the cause of his victory was, he knew in some way it was tied to complete and total annihilation. He wasn't about to just share this news with the group, of course. Their enemies would listening, and if they were smart enough to change targets they were probably smart enough to hear them talking. Instead he stalked through the treeline like a commando in the jungle, looking to see who else the Bubbles were firing at. Wait, one was going after Kuu? That's it, that guy was priority one! Elliot leaped from his cover, his tail directly aimed at the strange amorphous being.
"Tailblazer!" he called out again. What was once a desperate cry of fear was now a victorious rallying cry as he aimed to reduce this one to ash with cleansing fire was well. Did he feel bad? Strangely, no. Maybe it was because of his friends all being in danger. Maybe it was because these seemed more like digital demons and lovecraftian horrors than actual reasonable Digimon. Maybe he was just realizing that some foes couldn't possibly be reasoned with. Whatever the purpose, Elliot began launching his flame at the second of two targets, hoping his success at fending off these foes would help rally them to snatch their own victories from the jaws of defeat.
If only the poor boy knew what had transpired while he was away. He'd probably take far less solace in his victory.
Tragedy
Isaac had no idea where he was going, but that didn't stop him from trying to worm his way out in any way possible. "Explosive W-!" he started, only to feel a horrible pain shoot up his shoulder. The throbbing pain of the burns and the horrible impalement of the sickles was far too painful for him to kick off such an energy-intensive technique. It'd be better to try what he already knew would work.
"Imp-!" Nope. As if on cue, the wrist that was previously freed was bound up tight in the cords. There would be no getting off that fireball.
There had to be another way. Maybe he could Digivolve, and force his way out of the restraints through sheer mass. "Demon of the Wi-" It was no use. He couldn't focus enough to call up more than a hazy vision of Yasyamon. The pain was far too strong to force through, no matter how hard he grit his teeth, or punched himself in the side to try and distract himself from the feeling.
He tried to worm his way out of the restraints, but they were bound too tight. He tried to break through them, but they were far too sturdy. He could feel his consciousness dipping away into blackness, even as he defiantly forced himself to stay awake. The burns that started as throbbing were intensifying into pure agony. He tried to call out for help; to Kai, or Scout, or Elliot, or Maia.
But nobody came.

"Friends! More friends!" was Shiro's reaction upon breaking the canopy. His excitement at the new faces overruled his disappointment at his other friend not only failing to join his new game, but continuing the old boring one! Even the burning in his chest wasn't enough to dull his excitement! Heck, Kai didn't even know there was a burning, Shiro cared so little!
"I don't think those are friendly, Shiro!" Kai shouted, trying to make himself heard through the wind rushing past his ears. It was no use, though. "That's silly! Of course they are!" Shiro declared. Kai groaned. For some reason, Shiro had made up his mind that everything here was a friend, despite any evidence to the contrary. The only question was, which one to play with!
Kuro was surprised at how easily her blasts blew away the enemies. Perhaps their innate regeneration came at the cost of extremely low defense? But she didn't have the time to reflect on this, as she scampered off into the forest to avoid being seen. "Yin Blast!" Kuro declared, a rather larger ball of energy launching from her mouth, into the fray. She may not have any fire attacks of her own- That was Shiro's area... But she did note that they stopped the regeneration! The information seemed useful, if they lived long enough to use it. But perhaps she could find out more about their strange regeneration while Scout and Elliot cauterized the wounds.
Back up in the sky, two things happened nearly simultaneously. First, Kai spotted one of the rope-armed creatures flying towards the large sphere. He noted that it seemed to be coming from the clearing, but didn't exactly take the time to consider the ramifications of that. He was more interested in that it was heading towards the large sphere- And that the only other of the creatures which was behaving differently from the rest was guarding that sphere. He didn't know enough. He needed information to make decisions! But the best way to gain information was probably... "Shi-"
He was cut off by the other thing that happened. A similar creature barreled into Shiro from below- Only a firm grip kept Kai from being thrown off. "Oh! Another friend! Do you want to play too!?" Shiro asked it excitedly. No answer, as could be expected. And Kai knew that the one he was interested in was getting away. "Shiro! There's one..." Kai tried to reorient himself. The slam from below had knocked the two slightly off balance. "Behind us! That one wants to play, I'm sure of it! See, it's already started the race!"
Okay, it was a stretch. A wiiiide stretch. But Shiro got excited at the thought. "Race!? Haha! Now that's more like it!" Well, at least Shiro was interested now. But... Was Shiro able to catch up to it before it got away? And they were kind of being attacked, you know! But Shiro had his own plans- Ignoring the burning which was now not only on his chest, but his side, he opened his mouth.
By the time Kai figured out the plan, it was too late- "YANG LAUNCHER!" Shiro roared, a massive jet of pure yang- Fire and wind- released from his jaws. But more importantly, the recoil threw Shiro backwards- Straight towards the fleeing creature. And while he may move slowly normally... With the force of his previously unused attack, Shiro might actually be fast enough to catch up!
Of course, if that's a good thing or not remains to be seen.

Dammit. Greymon was in trouble. Scout looks at his friend taking hit after hit, with that bizarre corrosive substance still bubbling away on his hide. Scout grimaces and focuses, "Back into the D-Scanner, Greymon. You need to rest,". Greymon is about to argue before he's pulled into Arresterdramon's body. Or, more accurately, into his data to be stored in the D-Scanner within him. Messy. Alright, he needs something with a little more firepower, it seems. "Break Up! Brave Soul, Wild Digivolution!" Scout's blazing aura returns, this time changing to a silvery one with red and white embers flickering around him. "Sliiiide Evolution!" He grows much, much larger, taking on an appearance similar to B's Greymon form, albeit more upright. This one has orange skin, though. And a metallic upper skull. A large metallic torso, with huge technological wings coming out the back and...yup. His entire left arm has been replaced by a colossal metal cannon! Well, he did want more firepower. "RIZEGREYMON!" And thus begins the yelling. He hasn't used RizeGreymon too much, but he knows it has no concept of an 'inside voice'. The rocket-wings on his back ignite, lifting him twenty feet into the air to try and avoid some of the Bubbles' fire, as he directs his own weapon against one of them. "I'LL TAKE MY TURN NOW IF YOU DON'T MIND. TRIDENT REVOLVER." Three fiery energy pulses are fired from the weapon in quick succession, heading to hopefully terminate one of these annoying things! What? Fire was an excellent way to purge things, and these sure as hell didn't seem like real Digimon. If he can get a clear shot, he might even be able to try and hit all the remaining Bubbles at once with his 'finisher' attack. Hrm. Just needs an opening...

Ah! Missed! The Champion dashed in a wide circle, returning to his tamer's side. There was a huff from the fox as he looked to Maia. She was going to be mad. Or, was it sad? Emotions were tough to figure out! Especially because the girl had turned away from where the pendulum monster had been, and was staring at all of the other Digimon in the area, while biting her lip. Finally, he was sick of the silence. "Maia? You broken again?"
"Where's Elliot?" The voice that slipped out was sharp, making the Digimon hesitate. Okay. Maybe she wasn't broken. Just irritable! With Shiro and Kai, uh, shooting off to hopefully save Isaac, she was trying to even keep a headcount here. Greymon was sort of absorbed or something. The tamer didn't really understand that one, but whatever. Digimon were weird, this was a bad day, better not dwell on the little things.
Looking around, the masked monster sniffed the air. He could smell fire! Looking in the direction of it, he shouted, "Elliot! Isaac was stolen!" As the last announcement was made, surely loud enough that everyone within a mile could hear, there was a thunk and an "ow!" echoing after it. Little did he realized that Elliot wasn't actually that far away, and certainly didn't require that volume! Or, maybe he just wanted a reason to shout!
Maia didn't want him to interrupt with that announcement! That was an awful way to tell someone that their brother may have just been kidnapped! Or, Imp-napped? "Don't say it that way! What's wrong with you?" To this, Kuu just stared at her through the mask. Could he actually even see with that stupid thing on? How did Reppamon even know where he was going? Or what he was looking at? Whatever. Questions for another time.
The Reppamon opened his mouth, to respond to the question, before hearing a bunch of yelling from a... oh! Kuu recognized this one! "Yasuo!"
"That's not Yasuo. I think you're getting worse at this," the blonde groaned, making a motion at the RizeGreymon. So, Dust didn't get mistaken for Isaac, but a RizeGreymon that was just a totally different Digimon was Yasuo? Shi and Yuudai weren't even here! "Shouldn't you be helping, or something? Go... go do something!" They were still under fire! Why didn't Kuu find the situation serious?
To this, Kuu tilted his head. "I could help more if I digivo-" The glare his tamer was giving him was more than enough to make the Digimon begin bouncing on his toes, making his way toward Kuro. He'd have picked to follow Scout, but he couldn't fly! Curse his lack of wings! "Okay! Okay! I'm helping! The helpful-est! Yup!" Except, no, he still wasn't helping. If he did, he'd end up in the line of fire again, by the strong attacks that the spirit user had! Or, he'd just waste attacking on something that was surely going to be destroyed in the next few seconds, anyway. What was the point?

The ground group may have not figured out the specific weakness of the D-Reaper, but they had certainly passed the threshold of power that the Bubbles were meant to counteract. Elliot's target was the first: while aiming at Kuu, the Bubbles had little recognition that the Strikedramon had even approached, and by the time it could counter, it was far too late: awash with flames, the construct fell to goop, a similar shriveled 'snap' popping at the cord as it did so. Like the first, it decayed rapidly away. Rizegreymon's blast was far more decisive: overpowering one of them, it simply melted away on the spot, showing no signs of regeneration.
In fact, only the one that Kuro had attacked started to regenerate. The larger blast taking off its head and part of its chest, the cord engorged like a pipe, the construct once more taking shape. But, just as it would look like it would take its shape once more... it simply stopped. The cord pulled and retracted away, leaving a half-formed creature there, quickly falling apart into its trademark red goop. Perhaps it was simply too damaged to continue, or perhaps there was something else: had it simply decided that the current fight was unwinnable, and that it wasn't worth the energy? If that was the case, just what was this creature?
Unfortunately for the group, only Shiro and Kai had a full view of the situation around them, and Kai hadn't been able to tip off the rest of the group. Without dodging, the Pendulum Feet had solidly flown into Shiro's lower side, at its ribs, with a force akin to a cannonball fired by an Ultimate. Oblivious or not, the shockwave through the creature was resonant, and the creature remained in direct contact with the white monster. It wasn't enough to just get in contact: though not as thorough with the Impmon, wires would be expanded as the creature would hook on, like some sort of demented mosquito.
That said, the D-Reaper wasn't well versed in Shiro's brand of absolute enthusiasm. And with Shiro launching forward, towards the first, escaping Pendulum Feet, the latching creature had to hang on for dear life. Somewhere, between the Searchers and the Guardian, the mass had figured out at least where the white creature was going... and it was none-too-happy about it.
But it wasn't as if the escaping creature didn't have options. Without as much as looking over its shoulder, it tightened its grip on Elliot, and descended, flying fast and closer to ground level. Even with Shiro's temporary speed boost, it would be next to impossible to fly that low without tumbling over itself. Behind, under the cloak, Isaac would be able to see his approaching teammates soaring above, pehraps giving him some hope of escape... but was there anything else to do about it? Soon, they both found themselves around the red field. And at this point, it wasn't as if the Pendulum-Feet was trying to hide Isaac. If Shiro did something reckless, with both of them over this mysterious field, well, it wasn't going to go well for anyone involved.
Not that the fleeing entity had any intent to fight. Once it got this close, it was going to make a bee-line for that white kernel up in the sky. And as for the Pendulum Feet attached to Shiro? Well, he wouldn't have had a chance to hear it back on the ground, but that same beeping could be heard, right against Shiro's hide.
A time-bomb, activated directly inside its coat.
As for the ground group, they would at least be able to enjoy a little bit of silence. As prevalent as the D-Reaper was in the area, it acted more as a hive than an omnipotent being, and wasn't too keen on sending more foot-soldiers to be wasted against several ultimate levels. No, it would want to send something a little more 'appropriate' to their cause. And besides, what was the point of engaging now, when in a few minutes they'd have all the information they'd need?
That said, their peace wasn't entirely assured: in the center of the clearing, an area of blue, crackling static would appear, and with everything going on, one wouldn't be too far gone to think this was another enemy. "Hack successful!" With those billowed words, and a white flash, Datamon's visage would come into being. Well... kind of: he sparked as a hologram would, clearly not entirely present in this dream as the rest of the participants were. For a moment, he was caught in his own awe: "Aha! Able to track in using your mental signatures... am I coming through clearly? Wow! I'll actually be able to catch video feed like this!"
Yup, he was entirely out of the loop. Soon enough, though, he'd catch a bit of the tone: the battle-scarred Digimon around him, a distraught and probably angry Maia... yeah this wasn't the best way to introduce himself. Not that this virus type had any social tact: "So, how about a bit of a status update? You all already look like a bunch of half-buried potatoes!"

Elliot let out a fist pump of victory as he freed Kuu from his pursuer, only to hear what the Reppamon had to say in response. The Strikedramon's arm fell to his side, and his smile flattened into a complete lack of expression. Between the dragon's hidden eyes, static pose, and complete lack of enthusiasm, it looked like somebody had found Elliot's off switch and smacked it with all of their might. He repeatedly opened his mouth as if trying to say something, but he couldn't even bring himself to speak. It was like a fish gasping for air, desperately moving but accomplishing absolutely nothing. Finally he found at least some sound coming out, less spoken and more forcibly yanked from the back of his throat. "What?" Elliot asked, his voice more-or-less an inaudible squeak. "Kuu, that's really not funny."
He looked around, hoping that this was some sort of joke. Kuu was a good friend of his, but he had to admit the Digimon could be kind of thoughtless. Maia would grumble at him for his badly timed wisecracking, he'd tell the truth, Isaac would stumble out of the bushes, and they'd all be okay. It's how this kind of incident always went. Unfortunately, it didn't seem to be the case. As Elliot's search refused to turn up anything, he found himself only able to ask one question. "Where is he?" His core burned brightly, and soon Elliot found himself completely surrounded by a purple energy shell. Strikedramon would no longer be with the group. Instead, Sandiramon came bursting from both ends of the shell, towering at his full snake-like height. "Where is he?" Elliot demanded once more, voice cracking from the force of his shout. His voice was a caustic mixture of anger and sadness and fear, all blending into a tone that could only be described as venomous. If one looked closely, they'd see the great snake starting to tear up.
That second roar proved perfectly timed for when Datamon emerged, too. Well, there's your status report!

Isaac continued doing everything he could to try and struggle against the restraints of this strange foe. As they descended low he defiantly stuck his feet down, trying to dig his claws into the ashen earth, but he was unable to get a foothold. He tried to thrash as much as possible without touching the coat that burned like hellfire, but the wires continued to hold firm. He was almost considering putting all of his energy into launching one last attack, pushing through the pain to try and strike with all of his hatred.
Then he saw the ground below their feet give way to a field of endless red slime, the same kind that Isaac noticed on his wrists when the cables of the monster bound around him. The slime burned enough to the touch in just that minuscule amount. He knew being dumped into an entire field of it would be the death of him. Defiance gave way to self preservation, and Isaac found himself refusing to let go as he clung tightly to the monster's cables. He was forced to choose between the devil he didn't know and the devil he knew very little about. Either way he was putting his trust into an enigma. The only thing he knew was that if this thing thought it would be dropping him into the river of Kool-Aid, it would have one hell of a time forcing him to let go.
Now they were going up again, and towards a blinding white light. Isaac strained his eyes to avoid looking directly into it, before realizing that if he could see the outside world he could also see out of the cloak. Surely enough, the Pendulum Feet stopped trying to hide him as it reached ever closer to its end goal. Now Isaac was free to look around, finally noticing that someone had indeed come to his aid! It was Shiro and Kai, and they were being grappled onto by yet another one of these things. Oh no. Isaac was not about to let another friend get snatched by these things on his watch! Forgetting all thoughts of himself, he pointed directly at the other bladed monster, shouting "Imp-losion!" He could only hope that his fireball would be able to stretch across enough distance to knock the Pendulum Feet away and give Kai some breathing room.
"Get out of here, you guys! Please, you gotta keep safe," Isaac called, voice trembling. "You can't let them grab you too!"

"It's not funny!" The Reppamon echoed, in a far more chipper tone, "I've got no jokes for Imp-napping!" He sure wished he did! Elliot looked like he seriously needed a good laugh right about now! Maia found herself looking away from Elliot, biting her lower lip. There was nothing else to really say about the situation. Even with the question, she wouldn't look to the boy. Why couldn't she have done anything? The girl wanted to be mad. Or, was it sad? The mix of emotions was a bit complex, so instead, she'd just keep her arms tightly crossed to her chest.
With the appearance of Sandiramon, Kuu only tilted his head, looking upward. "That-a-way?" Because, 'up' was a helpful direction.
With the interruption to their program, via Datamon, Maia's eyes fell to the hologram. She opened her mouth once, only to snap it shut. No. Right now was not a good time to make rude comments to the host. Instead, she took a deep breath. "We were attacked. Isaac's kidnapped. Kai's flying around on a moron Digimon."
Reppamon let out a gasp, shouting, "Shiro's not a moron! He's great!" Then again, Maia frequently called him a moron! Maybe it was a good descriptor! "Also! I got red stuff on my paws earlier. Can I eat that stuff?" Stop, Kuu. Just stop.
"Please tell me that you have a solution to our kidnapped friend," the girl requested, before looking to the Sandiramon that was clearly distressed. "I think his brother's going to break something otherwise." Or just crumple into tears. It was hard to tell what the sibling would do without Isaac being safe. And, Maia couldn't bring herself to comfort him. There was no guarantee that the missing teen was, in fact, going to be okay, and she wasn't going to lie to Elliot over it.

"I HAVE A SOLUTION," Gah! For an enormous dinosaur, he's surprisingly stealthy. He looks down at Maia and Elliot, "IT MORE-OR-LESS INVOLVES CRASHING THROUGH THE FOREST WITH TREMENDOUS AMOUNTS OF FIREPOWER UNTIL WE FIND, UH. I'M SORRY. I GUESS I NEVER GOT HIS NAME. THE OTHER GUY. YEAH. THE ONE WITH THE SKIN. AND THE EYES. YES," Well. At least Scout's on-board.
Whether Shiro is a moron or not is debatable, but Kai seems to be. Scout's impression of the other teen goes down several degrees. He'd more-or-less flown off and left the others to their fates. Was it cowardice? Stupidity? Or because he had no way to control Shiro? If the third option was true, he shouldn't've come on this mission at all. Tch. Whatever.
"DON'T WORRY ABOUT IT, OTHER GUY WHOSE NAME I FORGOT TO ASK, WE'LL FIND THE FIRST GUY WHOSE NAME I FORGOT TO ASK. I'D BET THIS ENORMOUS CANNON ON IT," he hoists his arm. ...A'ight then. "YEAH, IT ISN'T EXACTLY GOING ACCORDING TO PLAN, BUT I THINK THOSE OF US THAT'RE LEFT HERE NEED TO STICK TOGETHER. WE CAN FIND THE FIRST GUY WHOSE NAME I FORGOT TO ASK, AND THEN PROBABLY KAI. I GUESS. AND THEN KICK ASS AND GET HOME IN TIME FOR TRIPLE STEAK-AND-HAM BURGERS," That is not a thing. Stop trying to make it a thing, Scout. And stop yelling!
RizeGreymon/Scout/Whatever-That-Is continues to hover only ten feet above the ground, yelling loud enough to wake the dead. He's not exactly going to help them sneak past any enemies, but. That certainly is an impressive cannon he's wielding.
"SO. WHAT DO WE THINK? RAMPAGE UNTIL WE FIND WHOSITS?"

Aww, whip-arms wanted a hug! "Sorry friend, but I'm playing tag right now! I'll hug you later!" The burning was starting to get irritating though, and Shiro felt bad for the creature. How terrible it must be, to want to hug so badly when your entire body is made of hurt! If only Shiro could do something to help his new friend! But all he could think of was to hug it back later, and pretend that there was no pain. It was the least he could do to help his new friend's desire for love!
Kai was less convinced about the friendly nature of their enemies, but then again, Shiro's hugs wouldn't lose to this thing! And besides, he was slightly preoccupied with what he just saw... Heard, from the other creature. A certain Impmon, which Kai vaguely remembered from the boat- But he couldn't remember the name. Elliott's brother. Was that why the creature was acting like that? Transporting a prisoner?
Shiro, idiot that he is, completely misunderstood Isaac's attempt to help. He, in fact, thought he was being attacked to hinder him as a part of the game of tag! "So it's that kind of game? Then taste my YANG FIRE BLAST!" The ensuing blast, which appeared identical to the one he fired previously, was rather more powerful- And more importantly, it was chock full of pure fire yang energy. Not the kind of technique a sensible person would use on a friend.
No one ever accused Shiro of being sensible.
In the confusion, neither Kai nor Shiro heard the beep on their side- Shiro was preoccupied with his game, and Kai was preoccupied with figuring out how to convince Shiro to save the prisoner while his partner was in this state. He also vaguely worried about Kuro- But she was with the others, and could take care of herself. He trusted her that far, at least.
Back at the ranch, Kuro noticed the hologram show up in the clearing. Well, it was about time to move anyways. She took the time to burst from the cover of the trees, and rejoin her allies. "While he may be an idiot, I'll thank you not to insult my brother in my presence." Maia may be Kai's friend, but that meant little to Kuro. Nobody who insulted her brother could be considered a friend to her. Hmph.
That said, she had to seriously question the intelligence of anyone who didn't think of Shiro as an idiot.
"Anyways, Kai is with him." Kuro said. The faith she had in her brother and partner... It was probably unjustified. And very unlike her, who was usually quite down to earth on such matters. But at least she did have faith in them. "Also, these creatures appear to be weak to fire, but otherwise they regenerate quickly. I am reminded of one of those human stories... Hercules and the Lernaean Hydra. No matter how many times he clubbed the heads, they regrew- Until he clubbed it and cauterized the wound. If I am right... What we are fighting now is no more than the head. And I doubt that what we are fighting is all of them- Perhaps we would do better to follow those red tubes they are attached to to their source, in order to clear them all at once."
