Isaac sighed as he found himself staring at the Shibuya campus. How was he supposed to fit in around here? This place was massive! On his way here he saw students of literally every age heading back and forth, whether college students on lunch break or kindergarteners going home hours before the rest of the students. With how big and busy of an area Shibuya was, and how this was basically the only destination for its children, Isaac wondered if he'd even be able to meet people without being lost in the crowd. It didn't help that at 15, he would be straddling the border. He'd be either a first year high school student or in his last year of junior high. Either he'd be the newest kid at the bottom rung, or the only one in junior high who didn't already know his entire year intimately.
This was stupid. He'd seen so many horrifying things in the Digital World. This shouldn't be scaring him.
Thankfully, he wouldn't be going into school completely unprepared. Today he was going to tour the campus with Elliot and get to know it all better, while his mom finished signing all of the paperwork. It turned out that was what she had been busy working on during this little "vacation," sacrificing potential efforts of finding a better house just to make sure their education would be okay. He wasn't sure whether he wanted to thank her for her sacrifice or just run and hide. At least Elliot seemed excited about it! The boy marveled at the campus, eyes wide with delight. "Isaac, it's so huge," he whispered, breathlessly. "We're going to be going here?"
"Looks like it," Isaac said, trying to finally muster up the proper words for the situation. It was just school. These were just other kids. It would be just like California, only more permanent this time. Believe it or not, he could do this. He just wished he was better at the whole school thing. He was slower to make friends than Elliot was, and his grades weren't anything stellar. It was always something that he either couldn't or didn't care enough to grasp. Sure, when a particularly neat topic came up, he always jumped at the chance to learn more. But average, everyday schooling? There was so much more important stuff he could do. And friends? He was good enough at being known by others, but never really anything more than that. He did his best to appear cool enough, and his peers regarded him decently, but that was where it ended.
For now, the two brothers simply stood by and waited. Soon it would be last bell. Everybody would leave the school, and then Isaac and Elliot would check it out while things were quieter. It was their preference compared to a noisy organized tour group, anyway. Briefly, Isaac wondered how many people he recognized from the Digital World would be in the giant herd of people leaving the building. He wasn't sure if being spotted would make him feel more or less embarrassed.

School was kind of terrible when one didn't have much time to study outside of class! Maia was scrambling to try to keep notes, but it didn't seem to be doing her any good. The teacher was busy rambling away, while the blonde found herself with her hand supporting her head, staring at her paper. What was being taught, again? Ugh! She'd forgotten to even do her homework the night before, and ended up sneaking the answers from one of her friends in class. That wasn't really the right way to do things, but what could a tamer do? Kuu had eaten the pages out of her notebook that would have given her any idea of how to do the work!
Finally, the bell rang, dismissing the class. Still, the teen sat in her chair, staring at the scribbles on the page. Most of this just felt like nonsense right now! Of course, it was all relying on what she had learned yesterday, and that had been literally nothing! Some of the students lingered in the class for a while, rambling with their friends, or gathering their messes. Taking this as a sign that she wanted to socialize, a couple of girls made their way to her desk. "Need yesterday's notes? You lost yours, didn't you?"
Amber eyes lifted to stare at the brunette that was talking to her. A notebook was already being offered, and gladly taken. "Yeah. Thanks," the girl sighed, finally pushing her papers together and standing up. "I can't believe I keep losing my stuff." Then again, who would believe a pet fox was ingesting almost all of her important belonging?
"You're just forgetful," the second girl teased, adjusting her backpack on her shoulder. There really wasn't any denying it! It wasn't like Maia could tell them the truth!
Finally, the trio exited the classroom, with the brunette in the lead. "So! I was thinking, and-!"
"Sounds scary," the second interrupted, only to have the other puff her cheeks up, throwing a glare over her shoulder.
"-That we should hang out today! The three of us! We could go shopping! Gossip! You know, those things," she paused, pressing a finger to her lips. Moving toward the exit, the leading teen spun to face her friends, before pointing at both Maia and the other girl. "I mean! What kind of friends are we? Kyoko! I can't even find you after class! Where do you go?" Then, eyes had turned to Maia, "and you have, like, fifty excuses! Per week! What gives?" Now, there was a dramatic change in expression from the brunette, lips puckering, and eyes growing glassy, "I think you two secretly hate me!"
Raising her hand, the second girl, Kyoko, was first to speak up, "you're too loud. Do you think we want to be seen with you?" Harsh! It was joking, but that clearly just made the leader more distressed. With a few patting gestures in the air, she added, "you know I have a job. I can't stay after school every day." There was a pause. "Anyway, you've been obsessing over that guy from the other class. All my days off, you want to follow him around. It's weird. Is he going to be at the mall today or something?"
And, then there was silence. Until Kyoko spoke up again with a flat, "really?"
With a whimper, the dramatic girl turned to Maia, wide-eyed, "talk sense into her! We have to go to the mall! I'll buy food or something! You've bailed more than Kyoko! You've got no excuse today, do you?"
"Uh, well," eyes shifted around the area. She had been perfectly fine not being confronted about this! But, through her looking for a way out, Maia found two familiar faces, instead! "Isaac?" And, Elliot, too! What were they doing here?
Now, both other girls had their entire focus shifted. "Who's Isaa-- Wait! Mai! Have you been ditching us for a guy?" The blonde couldn't tell if this made for a great excuse or a terrifying one! Was she going to have to explain all of this?
Now, Kyoko had a sudden grip on the loudmouth friend's hands, dragging her in the opposite direction of the boys. "Oh! Heh! Hey! I want to go to the mall all of the sudden! Isn't that funny? We can stalk your crush now. Single girls only. Sorry, Maia! Later!"
There was a small wail from the brunette, as she couldn't decide which was more interesting now. Boys at the mall or boys associated with Maia? Either way, she was tripping over her own feet from the force of being pulled away. "C-Can we hide around the corner or something?! This was just getting good!"
That last part didn't make for too promising of a request, as Maia hesitantly waved to her friends, before making her way to the brothers that didn't really fit being at the school. Hopefully, they hadn't heard any of that, but it was awfully hard to imagine otherwise, considering how much noise was involved. "Elliot! Isaac!" Maia called out, walking toward the two, "what are you doing here?"

"Bye, Maia's friends!" Elliot called as he waved to the hastily-retreating girls. "Have a nice day!" Between the sudden change in tone on Kyoko's part and the other girl's more dramatic tendencies, they weren't exactly subtle in their exit. Elliot hoped that, with that cheerful greeting, he would be able to leave a good first impression on some other students. It was such a big school! It was never too early to start.
Isaac wasn't sure if he was happy or not about this turn of events. On one hand, it was Maia. Would a day ever pass where he wasn't happy to see her? On the other hand, he had been hoping to get through today subtly and without anybody really noticing him. He just wanted to check out the school, learn how to navigate, go home, and brush up on his Japanese some more. That would be the ultimate plan to avoid looking like a total idiot on his first day. Now he was spotted by the person whose opinion meant most to him. At least he could trust Maia not to laugh at him too much as he started adapting to everything. "Hey, Mai. Fancy seeing you here," Isaac said, smiling casually as he offered up a hug.
"We're gonna be your classmates now! Isn't that so cool?" Elliot asked, pouncing on the question before Isaac even had a chance to answer.
Still, the boy wanted to provide further clarification, hushing his voice slightly as he talked to Maia to avoid Elliot overhearing and getting upset. "You know how I texted you that we might be here a bit longer? Yeah, turns out by "a bit" Mom meant "we're moving here now." Elliot's been taking it really hard, so I promised I'd show him the school to try and help show him it's not gonna be all bad. Besides, if I'm going to be here too, I should at least know what I'm doing." Judging by the overall hesitant tone in Isaac's voice, it was abundantly clear that he did not. He grinned warmly at Maia, hoping his genuine happiness at getting to see her again would help keep his fears and worries a bit more buried. "Still, bright side. Looks like we ended up getting that more time with each other after all."
Personal talk aside, Isaac raised his voice back to normal volume to let Elliot back into the conversation. "So how do you like it here? I gotta admit, I've never really seen a school like this before, so it's looking like a lot to take in." If there was anyone he was comfortable opening up about his weaknesses to, it was Maia. Maybe this wouldn't turn out to be so bad after all.

There was another squeak from the more excitable of the girls, as one of the boys had acknowledged her, but her hands were tied! And she was about to fall on her face! She couldn't do anything! Kyoko freed one of her hands, waving briefly, before latching back onto ger friend and hurrying away. Maybe, she hadn't been kidding when she said the brunette was too loud to spend time with!
Although she was clearly embarrassed at her friends being, well, themselves, Maia wasn't going to pass up the hug. Luckily, it seemed that her friends had left, so they missed seeing it! There was a confused stare, hearing Elliot's answer, though. "You're what?" Isaac was quick to explain the statement, luckily. But, then there was a different mix of feelings. They were staying? That was... great! Or, was it? The blonde had really built herself up to be able to easily handle them leaving, which wasn't going to be easy no matter how she cut it, but it was still a lot of effort that was gone now! Still, it was great! Just a little more confusing for her mind right now! Especially after classes. A bright side was that she wouldn't have to save up her allowance forever to be able to afford a trip to California!
"That's great," she smiled, despite the mild confusion of the sudden situation. "It's a shame neither of you will actually be in my class, though," Maia pointed out. Then again, maybe it was for the best. New kids in the class got an annoying amount of attention sometimes, and she didn't really care to be present for it! Especially not when she knew them personally!
Hearing the question, the girl looked around, "it's," she started, trying to think. "It's not a bad school. But, you might have a hard time with some of the classes," she hesitated, hoping not to offend, "if you're not overly fluent in the language." At least it wasn't too uncommon for people to know English, but the teachers didn't speak in it, unless it was that subject! "Do you know what, uh, grades you're being put in?" Maia didn't know what grades they were even in back in California! Then again, it wasn't like Maia would even know the teacher that would be for Elliot's class. She might have met the one that would have to handle Isaac, but it wasn't like she'd been here long enough to have a class from either of them.

Maia wasn't as overjoyed with the news as Isaac had hoped, but he understood perfectly. It had to have been a long, tiring day of school, and then this knowledge was just dropped on her right out of the blue. He could understand if having this suddenly come up would be more surprising than celebratory. He had wanted to pick a more appropriate time to tell her the good news, but it seemed that the universe delighted in rushing him. "Yeah, I was going to tell you next time you were free to meet up. Figured it was too big a deal to just drop over text. Looks like we ended up having that meetup earlier than expected," he remarked, hoping to clarify what his original intentions were with not texting Maia the second the news broke. Some things were just way too important to do so in such an impersonal fashion. Maybe once the confusion passed away, then the duo could get to celebrating.
"Yeah, but that's okay. I've always been the younger one," Elliot said matter-of-factly. "I'm sure there'll be lots of people I can meet. I think I'll be second year of Junior High? Oooh, this'll be so exciting!" Elliot looked really eager. The boy loved school. It was a good social outlet, a fun place to meet people, and there was so much learning to be done. It would be a nice tethering element towards normalcy. Maybe if he squeezed his eyes shut, and tried to rapidly translate Japanese to English in his head, it would be like he was back home in California. Not like he would be learning significantly different stuff anyway. Math was still math. Science was still science. History and language would be cool, new opportunities instead of the Civil War for the fifth year in a row. For once, something about this move seemed worth it!
Isaac had a feeling that was the case. It didn't help that Elliot's grip on the language was tightening due to late night practice, a pliable young mind, and a very strong work ethic. In comparison, Isaac was busy tracking monsters and making sure old nightmares wouldn't come crawling out of the Dark Area. One of these was far more conducive to learning Japanese than the other, and while Isaac was okay at hearing it he was still quite far off from full comprehension. "Not surprised. I've been trying to brush up lately, but it's probably going to take me a bit to adapt," he said, speaking somewhat hesitant Japanese. He had a better grasp on word choice and more confidence in his speech, but it was clear he still had a long way to go. "Maybe we could trade? While I model for you, we practice talking?"
"Isaac's gonna be a first year high schooler. So I bet you'll be bumping into each other a lot. I'll miss you guys," Elliot added. He doubted the grwde levels had much crossover with each other, even if all on one campus. Being so far away from his brother would be a big shock after they spent this vacation practically attached at the hip. Would he be able to handle being on his own?

The further clarification seemed to make more sense. But, how many people had found out about the brothers staying before Maia had? She didn't really want to be the last one to know! But, it was true. She'd rather know in person than via text. If this had been any other time, the girl probably would have hugged Isaac in the excitement, but she was still in a daze from being horribly lost in class.
"I wish I knew someone in either of your grades, to help out," the blonde smiled, trying to think. Kai? No. He might actually be in her grade. Then again, how old was he? Shi and Sora were older than her. Maybe Marshal? No. She was fairly certain that he didn't even go to the same school as them. Oh well. They were bound to make plenty of friends eventually. Everyone either loved or hated the new kids. At least, until the 'shiny! new!' imaginary tag hanging above their heads would disappear. So, maybe give it two weeks. Or, one, if they were particularly weird. At least Elliot seemed really excited about school. If only Maia shared that enthusiasm!
Hearing the offer for a trade, Maia nodded. "I can try. My dad's a better teacher at languages than I am. If you want, I might be able to borrow some of his books on Japanese, too?" Even if Isaac wasn't interested in the books, Elliot might want to try them. Another thought crossed her mind to add to the language, though. "Uh, can either of you write in it?" That might make for a problem, if not! The teachers might understand, though.
There was a moment, while she thought about where first year's classes were. While, yes, in the high school, didn't actually mean they'd bump into each other too much. Still, they'd be closer than the junior high students. "We can have lunch together sometimes, if you want," the girl suggested. Or, would Isaac get embarrassed by doing that? She wouldn't want to bother him in front of any friends he would be making!

Isaac found himself smiling, even in the face of all of his nerves and anxieties, as Maia made her offers. How could he not, when she was offering books and trying to help the two of them make friends? He couldn't even describe how grateful he was for all of her suggestions and efforts, despite the fact that he and Elliot were funny-talking strangers of a younger age. Briefly, Isaac found himself worrying about what they would do to Maia's social status. Kids could be really cruel sometimes, and being so close to a pair of junior high or almost high school kids would likely stick out like a sore thumb to them. Oh well, Maia didn't seem too worried about it. And Isaac could just fight anybody who gavd her flak over it anyway. "I ever tell you you're the nicest person in the world?" Isaac asked in response to all of the offers, the smile on his face unshakable.
Oh. Right. Japanese was something you had to write too. The boys had primarily handled the language through audio so far, with a secondary focus on writing. That was all well and good for when they were tourists, who could learn to find their way around through Google and mangled requests for directions. And when would tourists ever need to write anything? Now that they were here to stay, all the speaking practice in the world would pale in priority to getting their handle on literacy. Isaac blushed in embarrassment as he realized he was somewhat far behind on that note, while Elliot started trying to put two and two together between the characters he knew how to read and how to properly put them down on paper. "We've still got a long way to go, but I'm a quick learner and Isaac's really clever," Elliot said, covering for some of their inadequacies with a silver lining.
The girl's tone was pensive, as if she was worried about Isaac being embarrassed by her offer. As if he'd ever be embarrassed to be around Maia! If anyone had a problem with her they just weren't worth keeping around, end of story. He was more worried about her embarrassment than anything, but when she was the one presenting the offer Isaac figured she was comfortable enough with it to be a non-issue. "You know I'd love to," he said, smiling reassuringly at her. It was kind of weird that he was the one trying to be reassuring when his nerves were tingling and his heart was beating at a mile a minute, but Isaac wouldn't be Isaac if he didn't spend his time constantly rising to the task of trying to help people he loved. Just don't call him a hero for it.
Elliot was starting to look a little jittery. As much as he loved small talk and seeing Maia, he was really hoping that their tour of the school could start soon. Thankfully, he had other questions to focus on so he wouldn't sound like he was rudely rushing the two. Amidst all of this relief was a bit of curiosity, as Elliot realized that their usual group of four was currently down to three. "What does Kuu usually do at school?"

Maia really couldn't care less about social status. In fact, the less people that wanted to talk to her, the better. She couldn't balance a large sum of friends, homework, and Digimon! That was just too much! The girl couldn't imagine if she had a job to top all of this off. Thank goodness her parents didn't seem to want to stress her out with education and work at the same time. Plus, wouldn't it be expected that the foreign kids ended up getting along? It would be stereotypical, or something like that.
"Kuu?" For some reason, the question seemed to surprise the tamer. "If my dad's home most of the day, he usually spends it with him. But," she paused, lifting a finger to indicate to wait. There was a moment of hesitation, as she shuffled a few books from under her arm to into the other hand, before messing with her bag. Extracting a familiar cartridge, she lightly tossed it to Elliot. Whether or not he tried to catch it, it wouldn't matter. Once it was about to touch the boy, or miss, it would pop open and a little fox monster would reach out to try to scramble up him. "My mom has today off. He's too obnoxious to leave alone and not expect her to find out."
While one could only wish for the fox to stay quiet, the school had already grown pretty quiet, and nobody really seemed to be paying attention at this point. Why would they? Everyone wanted to go home! "I learned math today!" Kuu informed, as his very important greeting to the boys. "And I like to eat pencil lead. Maia told me I can't use my tube as a pencil holder. But I'm really good at it! And they fit great!" Or, at least he thought so!

Elliot let out a small squeak of surprise as he tried to catch onto Kuu's cartridge. On one hand, he was glad to see his Digital pal. On the other hand, Maia threw the cartridge to the brother with only one free hand to catch things with? Elliot had to duck a little to try and grab onto the cartridge, fumbling slightly to make sure poor Kuu didn't go clattering to the floor. Thankfully, the fox popped out of the tube instead of hitting the floor, so Elliot's poor catching skills didn't come back to haunt him too badly. He couldn't help but laugh a little as the fox scrambled up him. It always tickled a little being climbed on by the excitable Digimon. "Good to see you again, Kuu!" the boy said, grinning. "You didn't give Maia too much trouble at school today, did you?" Of course he did! He was eating lead. Thankfully he was a Digimon and didn't have real organs, or he'd be poisoned badly.
"Makes sense. Wish I could leave our forms behind, but they're kinda stuck with us. Always that little bit of stress in the back of our mind," Isaac remarked. "But you never know when we'll end up needing them, so it might be for the best we've got them with us all the time." Isaac had a point. Digimon bio-emerging in the real world could be really dangerous, and if they were caught off guard they'd be downright helpless. At least Kuu could run over from home if something bad was happening with Maia. Without their Digivices, Elliot and Isaac were completely useless.
"So, which classes are you taking? Learn anything neat today?" Isaac asked. Sometimes, high schools offered a few electives that students could dive into, especially for later-year students like Maia. Even if this one didn't, at the very least Maia would get to learn stuff more interesting than the same basic lessons that elementary and high school had given the brothers so far. Isaac swore, if he heard about George Washington crossing the Delaware one more time he was going to snap. He also had to wonder what the Japanese language classes were like. Would there be offerings for foreigners and immigrants that would start on a gentler level? Or would it just be the usual writing and literature classes that they had learned to take in English?
Speaking of English, at least they'd have the best grades there by far!

"I'm never trouble!" Kuu protested, finding a comfortable spot on Elliot's shoulder. He wouldn't have cared if he hit the ground! It wasn't like the fox didn't intentionally drop from random heights to dramatically hit the ground. Heck, he even did that on the floor of an empty store once! That one didn't feel so great. But, he would repeat it if possible! So, ultimately, hitting the ground wouldn't ever bother him! Plus, Maia never threw him around very hard.
Maia hadn't really thought of the digivices feeling like a burden to a spirit user. "I'd take him with me everywhere, if he knew how to stop talking." After all, Kuu wouldn't know if she was in any trouble if he was at home and she was at school or something. She'd be completely useless. Oh, except those terrain changing cards. Could those work even if Kuu wasn't around? Maybe she'd be able to use them as some form of cover to hide. Regardless, it was just a safer situation if the Rookie was already with her. "I can never tell if I'd rather turn into a Digimon." On one hand, it seemed like a huge hassle. On the other, she wouldn't have to convince a fox to get into her purse and shut his mouth for a few minutes.
"Just, uh, the standard classes, I guess?" the tamer answered, with a shrug. As far as classes went, they were all pretty boring. And, did she learn anything neat? She fell asleep for part of one of her classes! What did she learn? Shoot. "The, uh, Anglo-Zanzibar war was the shortest in history? It lasted forty minutes, or something," she mumbled, trying to figure out if that was even interesting. "I was busy catching up on all my other notes," she admitted, "so, I didn't really pay attention." Focus on school, Maia! Stop thinking about everything else!

Maia's little question, most likely rhetorical, still gave the boys quite a bit of pause. If they could trade these forms away for an actual Digimon, would they? There would be no more burden or pressure on them to rise to the occasion, for starters. They would be able to remain safe from harm while their partners would be able to fight. That would also mean they individually had less power to protect others with, though. The current sense of culpability that the duo felt would be left unclear. Would they feel less responsible when something went wrong because it wasn't their fault, or more responsible because they wouldn't be able to do anything? That didn't even begin to describe the challenges of actually raising a partner. Would they share one, or would there suddenly be two Digimon running around the house?
"I mean, it probably gets really lonely like this," Elliot said, voice slightly downcast. "I'm lucky enough to have Isaac, but if I didn't? I can't imagine going to the Digital World bu myself all the time."
Isaac nodded, trying to think of a counterpoint so that Maia didn't think that their lives were entirely cruddy. That'd be bad! "We're at risk a lot because we're always right in the middle of a fight, but we're also able to be a lot more direct with protecting the people we care about. It's pretty nice getting to make a difference like that, at least," he decided upon. Being a tamer would've probably been maddening to him. He felt powerless enough in day to day life. Being equally powerless in a fantasy realm on top of that would've stung bad.
The topic shifted from Digimon to history next. Elliot's eyes lit up at the knowledge being shared, while Isaac seemed far more concerned with the girl's condition. She seemed heavily distracted, and Isaac was starting to realize just how much living in two worlds took a toll on a person. Sure, she never stated that to be a reason behind her being so behind, but what else would demand so much attention that Maia was still reading yesterday's notes? Maybe a bad illness or something, but Isaac sure as heck hoped that if something bad like that happened Maia would end up texting him. "Lot on your plate lately, huh?" Isaac asked, an unstated "any way I can help?" floating at the end of the sentence.

Maia listened to both of the boys perspectives on being a spirit user. Would she actually be lonely? Then again, when thinking on it, most of the people she talked to these days had Digimon relations, and she'd probably have just gone home immediately after obtaining her first spirit, never to speak of it again. Who seriously wanted to be wrapped up in all of this stuff? Without Kuu, the tamer never would have visited the weird world. On top of that, she still had to remind herself, without Kuu, the chances of her meeting the brothers dropped drastically as well.
"N-not really," the tamer shook her head at the question. Nothing that she couldn't have avoided. Somehow. "Kuu ate my notes last night. I had to replace them. They're for a test in a few days." Thank goodness, her friends were more than willing to share theirs! How many passes would they give her for those, though? Hopefully, she wouldn't need them again. And, at least Elliot looked interested in the random classroom lesson. Good. He hadn't learned something about that already. Then again, why would he have? He wasn't even close to the same grade as her!
Looking around the area a bit, the girl shrugged. "Anyway," she started, trying to veer off of her being the topic, "you're here to check out the school? Mind if I join you?"

"A test? Aww, I wish I could help you out." Elliot shot Kuu a brief look of "why" before turning back to Maia, worry shining in his eyes. "I'm really good with books, but I don't think I'm good enough to help someone four grades above me." It always sucked seeing a friend in need just outside of his reach, but Elliot knew that for once this was a situation he had no business partaking in. Cooking and cleaning with Alicia was one thing, but trying to understand high school subjects was far too above his weightclass. As painful as it would be, Elliot would just have to step back and let life take it's course. "You'll do great, though!"
The boy's enthusiasm returned in full force as Maia mentioned that they were planning on touring the school. He looked up at Isaac with bright eyes that practically screamed "Are we going yet?" A small grin escaped Isaac as he turned away from his excitable brother and back towards Maia. "Not at all! Could use the company, after all," Isaac said confidently. "Besides, I've been meaning to catch up with you about future plans. Now that I'm here for good, I need to start actually doing some planning about my life. Especially trying to balance everything with you-know-where.
Oh! You know this place way better than us. You got any suggestions of where to go first?" He felt a little bad asking something so strenuous of Maia after a long day, but he figured giving her control of the group's direction would be preferable compared to them wandering in circles and frustrating the poor girl. They may have been capable of navigating the streets of Shibuya, but they were also much more accustomed to those and trained in the art of the mnemonic. School would be completely new to them, and with newness would come distraction and confusion. Who knows? They might just accidentally stumble upon kindergarten class in session or something!

"That's fine," Maia shook her head at the wishful thinking of the youngest in the trio. "It should be easy, as long as I can memorize at least part of these notes." More of, if Kuu would let her have the peace of mind to memorize them, that was! Either way, the fox needed to stop eating her stuff and be quiet for a night. She'd have to make him toast with peanut butter on it or something. Peanut butter always made the little monster stop talking for a while. He was kind of like a dog in that way! "I'd probably be better at figuring out your tests than my own." But, who was to say? The lower grades courses and standards seemed to change every year! Heck, she heard some schools back home were sending kids home with computer tablets these days.
At least they seemed excited to have Maia join them on their adventure around the campus. "Good luck with balance," the girl quipped, throwing a glance to Kuu, who was trying to lick his own nose for some ungodly reason. It looked like he was trying to make a process out of it, too! His tongue was totally long enough for this. Weird monster. "I still haven't figured out how to balance any of it." Between the rare skipping of class and just being too tired to focus, she found herself stumbling through class some days. Somehow, her grades hadn't plunged from all of this.
Looking around, the blonde shrugged. "Uh. I don't know," she admitted, with a hum. "I guess the main floor? Outside has some gym stuff, but aside from that, I don't think there's much you want to see for a tour." What else was outdoors, anyway? Benches and trees? "First floor has the faculty room, and," she paused, trying to think, "the gym? And auditorium." The school was big, okay? There was no way she was going to remember where everything was! People were lucky that she knew how to find her own classroom! "I'm an awful tour guide," she snickered, nervously, "randomly wandering might be your best option." At least she was honest!

Elliot sure as heck hoped that Maia would be better at handling junior high level tests than her own work! It was rare to have a school year that progressed in reverse. What would be the point of high school if it was easier? Still, he could sympathize with Maia's current plight quite well. Focusing and memorizing were often the hardest parts of the school year. Elliot was a very quick learner by nature, but what didn't come easily to him often turned into a long, hard slog as he desperately tried to push it through his brainmuscles. He took a brief second to ponder, trying to remember what he did when he was stalling on a subject and needed to remember it quickly. "Gotta have tea. It's good for the memory," he finally settled upon. "And make sure it's really quiet, unless there's soothing music. Ooh! And if you can make up little silly rhymes to help jig your memory, that's always helped me a ton!" So much enthusiasm, such little time.
"Eh, truth be told I don't know if I'll ever be able to," Isaac admitted, shrugging a little. When he was perpetually on call to help with adventure, could he ever really schedule? The Digital World wasn't really something you could put off until you really wanted to explore it. It was a constant presence hanging in the back of his mind, occasionally sliding its tendrils out into the real world. He didn't have a say in when a nasty threat from a parallel dimension would decide to manifest. He could only try to track it down, fight it, and make sure the threat it posed was limited. Actual Digimon emerging by themselves were thankfully rare, but the duo had fought constant threats by now that would terrorize the human world if they found access to a portal. Even real losers like EbiBurgemon could pose huge security risks given the chance to run wild! "I guess all we can really do is roll with it, right?"
At hearing Maia's nervous admission, Isaac simply shot her a reassuring tour guide. "Please, compared to me you're doing a great job. By the time I finally find out where I'm going, it'd be time for tomorrows classes," he said, taking a gentle jab at himself to try and ease some of the girl's worry. Her suggestion wasn't bad at all! Especially not for someone so suddenly put on the spot. Almost unconsciously he extended his hand for her to take, turning his head to try and find where the first floor's main entrance was. "Shall we?"
