"Alright so it's this way." A ten year old said to herself as she wandered around a rather large forest she accidently stumbled into. "Or maybe it's this way?" She asked herself staring in that direction before giving up and going her original way. "Nah totally this way." She agreed with herself before she started walking, but before long she looked around once more before slumping to the ground her large cloak blocking her entire body as she sat on the ground. "Alright I'm lost." She said again to herself before standing up staight. "No not lost, just not fully sure where I am. Yeah not lost." She once again agreed with herself.
"I just have to find my way back home. Maybe wandering into a forest in a area I just moved to wasn't the brightest idea?" she asked herself then shook her head. This was something fun, exciting even if she had no idea where she was it beat just sitting in her room doing nothing. Well not technically true but still this was something fun to do.
Kira however silently sat down again her large cloak covering her body once again as she leaned up against a tree. "Yeah, I'm sure I can easily find my way back. Just gotta head in one direction for a while." she thought aloud again. "Or maybe some other random people are exploring the area. Oh or maybe a cat can lead me back, cats know where their homes are. Right?" she continued to think about things that could lead her back home as she sat against the tree.
Another day in the forest meant another sketch for Maia's book. Kuu was happily climbing in the trees, while his tamer sat at the base of one of them, roots winding and wrapping to make a perfect place to put her feet. It had actually been a little while since the two had visited the forest, with the past two times ending in trips to the Digital World. That streak had to be broken today, right? Since the tamer had no interest in wandering around, she figured it would be harder to accidentally run into anyone.
"You should use your fun cards," the Kudamon chirped, popping out from the leaves above the tamer's head. His tail wrapped around the branch for support, so he could flail his front paws toward the girl below. "We haven't played with them enough! I wanna fly!"
This only received a, "hm," from his tamer, before he released himself from his hold on the tree, and promptly landed on her head. Before Maia had a chance to scold the fox, he was already scampering off in a random direction. "Not too far," the girl reminded, as she went to erase a mark on her paper that was from the fox jolting her.
The little digimon began in a very specific direction, nose to the air. "S'not that far anyway," he chimed, heading out of the teen's sight. Where was he going, though? The rookie looked like he was on a mission! Sure enough, with a little traveling, Kuu was brought to a different girl sitting by a different tree! Wordlessly, Kuu made his way toward the stranger, only to stop several feet in front of her, sit down, and curl his cartridge so that he could rest his paws on it. What? He wasn't even going to say hello?
If Maia knew about this, she would probably kill him.
Kira still kept thinking about things she could use to get back to her house, not that she had to be back at any special time. "Yeah, they're not coming back anyway. Should stay out as long as I want." Kira reminded herself as she curled up a bit tighter in her coat looking down before letting out a small sigh.
She glanced up a bit before seeing a, a well. It was a Fox right? With some weird metal thing on it. Kira wasn't well versed in animals or any knowledge on that sort of thing but she quickly moved her hand through her cloak and quietly booped the Fox on the nose if it didn't move. "Boop." She said cheerfully with a smile not at all worried about the strange animal in front of her right now.
The little fox continued to sit pretty, while watching the young girl. She looked a bit younger than Elliot. That meant she had to be fun or something, right? Or scared. The rookie couldn't really tell. Kuu's pupils shifted to focus on the finger coming at his nose, going cross eyed momentarily. Then there was a boop, and it seemed the button was pressed! The white monster's tongue stuck out, almost like some sort of tape dispenser, and he emitted a, "bluh!" He was kind of like a cartoon critter sometimes, wasn't he?
Not-too-far-away, Maia continued sitting at the tree, drawing away. "Kuu, do you think I could get a reference for," there was a pause, amber eyes lifting from the paper. Thinking about it, he had been pretty quiet. Quiet wasn't a good sign when it came to the rookie. Crap.
After snapping out of his derpy response, the Digimon tilted his head, blinking a few times as he retracted his tongue. Well! At least strange girl seemed friendly! With a few little hops closer to her, he reached his nose out to poke her with it, echoing, "boop."
Kira let out a small laugh as the weird Fox stuck it's tounge out after she poked it, it was like she pressed a button or something. Maybe this was a robot? Nah that thought was far to crazy even for the ten year olds mind. She watched the seemingly dazed creature as it slowly went back to normal before approching her, hopefully not mad about the boop.
His nose poked hers like she had did before and she mimicked the Fox. "Bluh!" she exlaimed sticking her own tounge out making sure not to hit the small Fox with it. It hasn't sunk in that the Fox just went boop but it was like a noise right? Yeah that was a thing animals could do.
Black tipped ears twitched finding his reaction mimicked as well. That's weird! But great! Leaning his head back, the wide eyed fox began to giggle. How was this girl-thing so okay with all of this? Was she an actual person? She sniffed like a person! What if she wasn't, though? Weirder things could happen!
Finally, it was time to break the silence! "Are you a people?" Welp. So much for being a normal animal, right? Not that purple and white fur was likely to be a common trait in wildlife. Oh well! Nobody would ever think that Kuu would really be careful with what his life choices were! Exposing Digimon to the entire human population really wouldn't be beyond him!
Kira let out a small laugh as the Fox let out a giggle, this was quite fun for her. Maybe she could keep this fox, she didn't have anyone at her house so maybe. Oh but it seemed so nice it must have a owner or something considering how curious it was and the unique color and all who could pass this little thing up.
Then that whole thing took Kira aback. She blinked a few times before nodding. "Yeah I'm a people." she answered as she normally would. "You can talk? That is so cool!" she said with a smile getting a bit closer. "What are you then? You're not as normal Fox? Or do foxes talk I wouldn't know I've never seen one!" she said excited about this whole thing. First day in Japan and she discovers a talking fox, maybe it grants wishes!
So she was a people! Neat! Or maybe not so neat! Maia was gonna kill him! Oh well, though! What his tamer didn't know wouldn't hurt her! And, if it did, then there would be some more 'oops' involved. The mistake was already made, though, so there was no point in fretting over it! Not that Kuu probably knew how to do that, anyway.
"I dunno," the rookie shrugged, "what's a normal fox look like? I've never met one!" Maybe he needed to actually meet a fox. Maia had shown him pictures on her computer once, but that wasn't good enough! "Maia says I look like a pipe fox! They're magic-sort-of-things! Maybe I'm that?" All of this was still exciting, though. The little girl's excitement made the little Digimon just as excited! "Oh. I'm also a Kudamon." That was his species or something, right? Or, wait, was that Digimon in general? Who knew! But, it reminded him of another thing! "My name's Kuu! Do you have a name?"
Kira lightly shook her head. "I wouldn't have anything to compare to, I've never seen a Fox or a pipe Fox my entire life." That would explain why she was so calm with the random animal before, she had no idea what was and wasn't but that Kudamon thing was stuck in her head. "Kuu, well nice to new you my name is Kira." She greeted before thinking of more questions.
Oh right that thing. "Why are you called Kuu if you're a Kudamon, also what does the mon stand for. Monster?" she asked a large amount of child curiosity towards the unknown filing her head with questions for the tiny fox, didn't want to overload him though.
"Nice to meet'choo, Kira!" For once, Kuu seemed to have manners! With a cute little bounce, the digimon made a hop closer to the girl, even though they were already awfully close!
But, there were questions to be answered! Ooh! Nobody ever asked him questions! This was great! "I'm Kuu, cause Maia named me it! She got tired of me changing my name," he nodded, firmly. It was true, the girl was starting to get annoyed at getting used to all the different forms, and he had only really used four of them! "Um," the fox's ears twitched, thinking about the question. Mon did stand for Monster, didn't it? Huh! Fancy stuff! "Yeah! It means monster! You're smart! Like, super smart!" He hadn't even thought about that one! Then again, when did the rookie have time to think about his own name?
Kira saw the little bounce that the Fox made and just smiled, it was kind interesting considering that he was already close to her. Easy to say she was totally interested in what this fox was, in what Kuu was. "Oh Maia, is she another creature like you?" Kira asked having no idea if this was a human or not, would be a bit weird if it wasn't since she had never seen a creature like this, couldn't be common right?.
"I'm not that smart, thanks." she said being modest but accepting the complement. "So you're a monster? That's really cool." Kira said thinking he was a monster by his name meaning it, she had no idea about the digital aspect.
With a rapid shake of the head, the Digimon elaborated. "Maia's my tamer! She's a people like you! But taller." And a few minor details. Like their appearances being totally different. And that Maia wasn't very fun. Whatever!
"Why you gotta say you're not? You're totally smart," Kuu insisted. People always had to cut down his compliments! Maia and Shi wouldn't accept being heroes. Giant digimon afraid of heights wouldn't accept being awesome. Little girl didn't want to be super smart! What was with people? Take a compliment, darn it! Though, he wasn't going to dwell on that, either. How long could someone with the attention span of this pipefox actually keep up a singular conversation, anyway?
Now, the Kudamon was nodding, though his head tilted to the side in the process. He was cool! But, was he really a monster? "I'm not a spooky monster, though! That's Spooky's job! But, he's not really a monster, either. He's a person? But he isn't, too. He's kinda spooky!" Great job describing things, Kuu! "I dunno if you'd call me a real monster! I'm a Digital one!"
Kira was a bit surprised on that. "Wow she looks like me but taller? That's so weird." Kira likes to think she has a interesting fasion choice with a large cost almost bigger then her and shorts but someone looks like her? She really wants to meet this Maia now. "Is she around here?" Kira asked wondering where the so called Tamer could be.
With that out burst Kira just laughed. "Alright yeah. I am super smart at things." Kira agreed with a smile. Why did she have to be modest she was smart after all, homeschool and all. "And you are really awesome Kuu, never seen something so cool." it was the truth, she had never met a monster Fox.
"I bet someone named Spooky is, well spooky." Kira agreed then her blood ran cold as Kuu said that. "Digital monster? Digimon?" Kira asked shortening it, there was no way right? This was the sword Gallatin talked about?
"Okay, maybe she looks a little different," the fox admitted, with a sniff. "Everyone looks the same. They just sniff different!" Maybe Kuu needed his eyes checked! Or, he just didn't care for details. It was hard to tell with the fox! But, why rely entirely on sight, when he only had to breathe like normal to know who was in a room? There was no point!
With the way that Kira had shortened it so naturally, even the seemingly oblivious fox was catching on fast. Ears flattened, briefly, before perking and twitching rapidly. He didn't hear anyone nearby that could be another monster. Was she a spirit user or something? "Ye--esss?" Kuu drew the word out, fluctuating the tone with curiosity. D'you have one? Are you one?" These suddenly seemed like very important questions to be asking!
Kira was a little crestfallen about that, she kinda wanted to see someone who wasn't as small as her but looked the same, would be coat fit? Most likely it would. "Sniff? Well I suppose everyone smells different the one another." plus shampoo and conditioner would make someone and all different right?
Kira shook her head at that question before looking at Kuu. "No, someone named Gallatin told me to avoid Digimon. Said they were dangerous but. You're so cute and adorable. I've never seen another digimon anyway you're the first."
