As the Digimon opened his mouth, his ears flattened. Jaw snapped shut, as another voice piped in, "They can be dangerous." Arms crossed, Maia walked past the trees, finally finding her partner. Why did everyone say things about Gallatin that didn't seem to be too great? What was wrong with that guy? If she cared to find him, the tamer would want to literally knock sense into him! "Kuu isn't particularly dangerous in that form. Unless you're a pair of socks."
After all, his tamer couldn't say that a digimon with a scythe for a tail was necessarily safe. She couldn't tell someone that he was entirely harmless, either! And that Porcupamon was plenty sign that Kuu was capable of being just as destructive as any other monster, given the right motivation. Luckily, his tamer couldn't imagine a situation where that would ever happen.
"I am adorable," the Kudamon agreed. There was a pause, before adding, "oh. That's Maia, by the way!" Good job at introductions, Kuu! "I mean! Two of my attacks don't even do damage! I can't be dangerous!" Yellow eyes grew large, attempting a puppy face, "and I'd be sad if you avoided me! I'm friendly!"
Kira saw his ears flatten and his mouth close, she was going to ask what happened when she suddenly heard another voice, it was another girl that was quite older then herself, was the Maia? "Yeah, he said there were a few that weren't violent. I'm sure he was just looking out for me though." Kira said quickly not wanting him to seem rude, he wasn't since Maia just agreed they could be dangerous.
And now Kira was confused. "In this form? He can change forms?" Wait was that possible? This wasn't a TV show people and creatures didn't just change. Well digital creatures didn't exist in the first place so maybe it would be better to take this at face value, since it would most likely be explained soon, hopefully.
Kira just smiled. "Yes you are, don't worry I told him right up front I wouldn't run away. Unless I had good reason to, I can't see any reason to avoid you." Kira assured the fox, he wasn't dangerous or at least didn't seem dangerous at all. "Oh sorry, my name is Kira, pleased to meet you." Kira said in greeting figuring she might as well formally exchange her name.
"We've met a lot of them, actually," the teen pointed out, softly. She didn't want to come off as mean toward the notably younger girl. "More often than not, they're nice. Though, you should take caution with them, much like a normal wild animal." This brought up the fact that this girl seemed completely unphased by Kuu. Shouldn't someone be far more wary about wildlife? Kuu didn't even look like a normal fox! "I hope Gallatin didn't leave you with a primarily bad opinion on them." She really should find him one of these days, huh? It sounded like he had more than a few loose screws! But, the effort put into finding a someone that she didn't even care enough about to see was... well, just too much.
"Maia and Gallatin aren't friends. He threw rocks at me and told our friend that he wasn't allowed to be here!" The little fox gave a firm nod, trying to explain why Maia was concerned.
The confusion about forms made Kuu bounce up and down, looking to Maia. "I have four! Five? Ten. I'm gonna go with ten!" Ugh. Ten forms sounded a little over the top. Thank goodness they hadn't found any logic to back up having that many stages! "I can show you! I can do stuff!"
To this, Maia quickly cut in, "no, he really can't," to try to settle down the excitement. "We only know how to make him go up a stage, and return to what he's at now. The bigger size is, well," the girl paused, "dangerous." Blade tails and small children didn't spell out safe! And, there had never been a reason to figure out how to de-digivolve him below rookie!
There was a pause, processing that the youth had introduced herself. "It's nice to meet you, too." Normally, this would be followed with an apology in the case Kuu had been obnoxious, but it seemed that the girl was fond of him, so she didn't bother.
"You've met a lot? Wow that sounds really interesting." in all honesty the only reason she wasn't scared right now was because of Kuu, aftert thinking he was a Fox and doing that while thing she wasn't that scared of it even after finding out what he was. "He didn't leave me with a bad opinion, he actually said I was the nicest person he met." Kira said with a smile, she decided not to talk about that little chase scene they had together.
"He threw rocks at you? Why you're so little." Wasn't it like a rule you don't throw rocks at cute and small things. Cute and small things collect rocks like she does. "And your friend. Well I can't defend him on either point so, sorry he did that to you. I hope he didn't hit you with any." She was a bit sad about this, not enough for her to cry strangely enough despite pain being brought up.
"Oh, dangerous?" Kira said confused, it was just one stage how dangerous could he be like that. "I'll take your word for it." She added not fully wanting to see the transformation herself. "So have you been with Kuu for a while? How did you two meet?" Kira questioned. Was this a recent thing or had it gone on for a while. The second reason however was because she wanted a Digimon of her own now if they were this neat.
It kind of was interesting to see all of the different kinds of Digimon. It was rare to find two that were even the same kind! Aside from two Impmons and the Agumon twins, Maia couldn't even think of another example. The monsters seemed to be so varied in colors and sizes!
"I 'unno," Kuu chirped, "maybe he was having a bad day." Then again, anyone that had a tree branch dropped on their head probably would be having a bad day! "Naw! I'm tough!" The fox scrambled to began patting at Kira, trying to keep her from getting down about any of this. "I fight the bad guys all the time! Rocks 'n' stuff don't really hurt!"
What bad guys? They didn't fight bad guys! Or anyone, for that matter!
Well, at least the girl didn't seem too excited about the digivolution. "It's more," Maia paused. Kuu wasn't really dangerous, was he? "he gets a bit big and has some sharp spots. I, uh, wouldn't want you to accidentally get cut." After all, Maia was always worried that she was going to accidentally graze the blade, even when she wasn't sitting on the monster's back. It looked awfully sharp! "We met a few months ago," the teen answered, trying to think of how long it had been. Why was she so bad at keeping track of time?
"I mailed myself to her house!" Kuu added, to answer the second question. "It was really hard to get in the box, cause I was an egg!" Wait, was the digimon implying that he had put himself in his package? That just created an entirely new set of questions for his tamer! Or, was he just making up things again?
Kira gave a small nod. "Maybe he just gets afraid easily, he screamed when I said good morning to him, it was like if I screamed." Well Kira just most likely ruined any chance of Maia seeing Gallatin in a tough light after saying he screamed like a little girl when a little girl said hi to him. Also the running away thing but she knew not to mention that part.
Kira was a bit shocked about this little Fox apparently fighting bad guys, why were they bad? Did they do something to be bad or did he just assume they were bad. When Maia said something about getting cut Kira seemed to freeze for a moment but managed to regain her composer. "Y-Yeah that would be for the best. I can't handle any pain." She really couldn't. So long as something hurt her she would cry about it for a while, crying felt good. But then she saw herself as a cry baby, not good.
He mailed himself to Maia as a egg. That seemed, so cool. "Wow you did? That seems impossible." he would have no hands but Kira seemed to believe him, but she was just really trusting unless information countered it. "I'm sorry if I'm bugging you with questions but where exactly does a digimon come from? I've never heard anything about this." Kira asked wondering how this could be a secret. Or would she learn about this in middle school or something?
"He screamed," the teen echoed, flatly. There was a moment of this image playing in her head, before the snickering began. That guy was such a weirdo! Without a doubt, Gallatin had something wrong with him. Well, at least she knew that he was still as dumb as when they had met! Or... he was certainly something, at least.
Kuu tilted his head at the reaction about pain. "I wouldn't hurt anyone on purpose," he insisted. At least, not someone like Maia or Kira! They were good people! And, they weren't hurting anyone! Though, he guessed that a little girl might not always know to not touch the pointy. "I'd rather eat candy, anyway." More like, he'd rather eat anything! The Kudamon certainly wasn't finicky! If food was an option over a fight, he'd almost always take it!
Maia nodded, "it does seem impossible." But, the tamer couldn't really deny it! She had no idea how an egg got inside of a box, let alone how it appeared on her doorstep! But, there were other questions. "Oh, uh," how did one tell a kid where Digimon came from? "They're from another world, or universe, I guess." Which also posed another important comment of, "Digimon are supposed to be kept secret. People without them aren't supposed to know they exist. Like a secret club, or something." Except, it seemed, that club was expanding in members rapidly, and a handful of outsiders were well aware of them anyway!
"Yup" Kira agreed cheerfully not knowing she was completely destroying any trace of manliness he had, if he had any to begin with that is. "He also lifted his leg up and covered his face like someone was throwing water at it, it was actually kinda funny." and that was most likely the kicker that ended whatever manliness Maia might ever see in him, just the image of him screaming like a little girl and flailing about would be brought.
"I'm sure you would never try and hurt anyone, in purpose." of what Maia said was true he might not be able to help it. And at the talk of candy Kira recalled she was lost in a forest and now wanted some also, curse her child like zoning for candy.
"Oh so it's a big secret." Kira echoed the important part before giving a nod in understanding. "Alright I got it, I won't tell anyone I promise." Kira didn't know if Maia cared or not but she promised anyway. Sad she wouldn't get to show off her new talking Fox friend. Not that she had any friends really.
The image of Gallatin just became more ridiculous with every detail that Kira added to the meeting. Well, it was a good thing that Maia didn't think very highly of the boy, because she could only see him as incredibly ridiculous now. Why did everyone have to tell her about the weird guy? There was no way she'd ever be able to view him as an equal at this rate! Then again, that train had long left the station. Oh well.
With a nod of his head, Kuu seemed to agree. At least the girl knew that he wasn't just going to go and try to bite someone's head off or something! But, now that he was thinking about candy, he had to wonder if Maia had brought any sweets along for the day! The fox opened his mouth to ask, but his tamer was already talking to Kira again, and he didn't feel like shouting over her quite yet.
"It seems to be a very big secret," the teen emphasized. Judging from how many people knew about Digimon, it was a really cruddy secret! But, little kids were good at talking a lot, so she didn't want to run risk of the child telling anyone something that she really shouldn't. "But, it seems like once you know about them, it's really easy to start running across a lot of them." Wasn't that the truth? Once Kuu had come around, it seemed like Kira was one of the first normal people that Maia had encountered!
A very big secret, ohh that was even more then what she said before. Very big was different indeed. "Alright I understand I won't tell anyone." Kira repeated, she always focused everything she had on doing something so she wasn't going to tell anyone who wasn't in on the secret. But how would she be able to tell if they were or not? She'll figure that out later.
With that second part however the smart side of Kira slowly came out. "Maybe they attract one another? Or maybe I'm going to get one and just don't know it yet." she said the last part in a cheerful joking manner, as if she was going to. Gallatin was older, Maia seemed older. Maybe digimon were just for older kids instead of young ten year olds.
