A bathroom at the terminal…
“Uuuuuh…” Katya’s groan spoke for all. On the first glance, no one would recognize a dignified lady of wealth in the human wreck that was curled on the floor right next to one of the toilet bowls and slowly rousing from her stupor.
Blinking an eye open the Russian hissed and shut it back down, even the faint light in the bathroom feeling like a laser torch. Giving it a few more tries Katya eventually got sight of her surroundings. She felt cold, wet and like her stomach was about to empty itself. “Какого черта?” she rightfully demanded explanation from life.
Now, Katya would admit to having a drink the last night. Or at the very least, she recalled the desire for one to celebrate her moving in. True, she was technically still well under the legal drinking age, but to find a teen that didn’t sin in this regard you had to have a very sharp sight. And come on - Katya was Russian. It was her cultural heritage. She would however never drink as much as to collapse in the bathroom. Least of all when she had a wallet full of cash to call a cab whenever she wanted to.
The wallet in question was annoyingly poking at her ribs and Katya shifted her weight off, easing herself onto all fours. No, something else was going on. There was the headache, and try as she might she could not recall anything past leaving her newly occupied apartment to check out her new home town.
Tokyo. Why did she ever come to that human anthill? She should have at least go to Kyoto, the residence of the Emperors and Shoguns of old.
Shaking her head to banish those drifting thoughts - and wincing in pain right after - she got up and patted her pockets to check for her belongings.
“Huh?”
There was a pocket full that should have been empty by her count. Reaching in she pulled out a strange device that reminded her of a toy radio. Pushing buttons at random she tried to bring it to life to see what it did, but she had no luck.
As she fiddled with the walkie-talkie-copycat, she noticed a necklace she didn’t recall putting on, or in fact ever owning. A pink cross with what looked like a scarf wrapped around it. A memory popped to her mind. A club. Alright, so she did go have a drink - she was taller than most men in Japan and her looks were quite exotic here, so she had the luck of passing for far older person than she was. Getting a sip of something mild without having to show an ID was usually easy.
Trouble was, something mild would not lead to her present situation. A worrying thought crept into her mind. A perhaps gifted jewel, strange phone and lack of memories? Did somebody spike her drink? An - oh gods, was she still at the club? That would have been very, very bad. Of all the days to leave her taser home!
Stumbling out of the cabin Katya nearly tripped over her own bag. Well, at least that was still here. She would have liked to take a painkiller for the splitting headache she was suffering, but in her present condition couldn’t recall whether it didn’t react badly with anything she might have been slipped.
Slinging the bag over her shoulder Katya shuffled over to the door and listened. Hn. No music. So, not at the club anymore. She thought, Good, at least there’s no one waiting with any ideas about how to spend the evenin-
*HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONK*
“Oooooooow!” she groaned with a pained grimace on her face. Opening the door, she quickly found out what the horn suggested: She was at some railway station. Trouble was, she passed through Shibuya terminal yesterday, and this didn’t look like it one bit. That’s it, somebody definitely had to drug me. Did I just up and went on a mushroom induced trip? She theorized in her mind as she walked along the platform, looking for an exit. It wouldn’t have been out of character for her to just up and go wherever if she was sober, who knew what she was capable of under influence?
What she found instead of an exit was the sight of a metropolis larger than what she has ever seen, easily beating Tokyo and Manhattan. “Toto, I’ve a feeling we’re not in Kansas anymore!” she said for herself and swallowed dryly.
This would turn out to be a bother, she could feel it.

“I’m no Toto you stupid girl!”What? Who dares…? Katya thought, turning to stare daggers at the owner of the insolent voice. She wasn’t quite ready for that. What she saw was quite possibly doctor Frankenstein’s idea of how Thomas the tank engine should look like. How did I miss that when I walked by? She thought before looking over. That was strange, where was the driver supposed to go? More so, was that how she got here, wherever here was? “Uhm, where are you, mister?” she asked, dumbfounded. “What? Those gooey spheres you call eyes out of order? You’re looking right at me dimwit!” The engine said, impossible as it seemed. Kata couldn’t help herself but stare at it blankly for a couple of seconds. “What? Is there something wrong with my paint? Well why don’t you pick up a brush and do something about it you good for nothing flesh bag!”Still not convinced to believe what she was seeing, Katya approached the thing and poked it with her finger. “HEY!”“I’m sorry, Train, but am I still asleep?” She asked, seeking to find some logic in the bizarre things she was seeing. Right now, this being a dream was one of the more reasonable explanations. “What? You’re in the Digital World, stupid! Oh, Sovereigns, you are one of them rookies! Just my luck… And the name is Trailmon, not Train!” The living machine cursed, although for the first time Katya actually received some information. Swinging her arm she gave Trailmon a good whack. “Ow! What the...?”“Rude!” she commented, “You were saying? About a Digital World?” she said, her flat tone hinting this was less of a question and more of an ‘or else’ kind of threat. “Oh, that’s cute. Human thinks that child punch did more than tickle!”Bad choice. Recalling a previous moment in the conversation the Russian knew of at least one weakness she could use to blackmail some information out of the stubborn machine. Flashing a predatory grin, Katya picked up a stone from the ground and started scratching the Trailmon’s paint. “Aaaaaaah! Stop that! Pinstripes are so not sexy!” the Trailmon whined. “Digital. World. Explain. Now.” Katya growled impatiently. “And what’s in it for me you monster? How do I know you’ll stop?” The trailmon wanted to back up, but it seemed like it wasn’t going anywhere with the red signal at the end of the platform. Ah, so a bargain will do? Well then. Katya smiled: “You don't, but you can be certain you will have a brushed steel look very soon if you don't. But I can be generous. How about that new paint job?”The Trailmon eased up. “Well, now you’re talking!”

Well today's exploration was very uneventful. Couldn't find that guy, couldn't find the Alphamon again and couldn't find anyone except for some dinosaur who wanted him dead, that was when it was time for the silent hero to go home and take a nap. Despite not knowing how long he was here, leaning on a pillar he held his phone out playing a offline game on it before one of the two twins rushed over to him. Despite this one being a digimon he had a suit to look human he was wearing now.
Blond hair done in a small ponytail. Large red coat with a grey shirt and black pants with matching black shoes. "Sorry Shi, couldn't find him." he said out of breath causing the teen to sigh. "Well Yuudai is a big boy, he can find his way home." Shi reminded but noticed something nearby, specifically a train with someone next to it, they were talking to it. Which wasn't weird since Shi was basically a vet at this now.
Then the person started hitting it with the rock, Shi knew full well that would do diddly squat to the thing but she seemed to be chipping something instead. "Should we help?" the blond asked the teen with the hat and black hair. "The train or her?" Shi jokingly asked speculating it was a girl despite the distance between them. "Both I guess?" with a shrug and little else to do Shi kicked off the place he was leaning on and walked forward.
"Hey! What's going on over here?" Shi asked nonchalantly. But he was a member of DATS still so he really still had to do his job, should it be the human being heckled by the train, or vice versa.
Meanwhile another blond haired teen in similar clothing with a long braid instead of a ponytail snuck behind the two. He was also a digimon in disguise and had no idea what was going on, but pretended he belonged there. Which he did really.

What is wrong with this place and the rude people? Katya turned towards the newcomer to the 'conversation'. She considered it her luck that this one at least appeared to be human rather than someone who escaped from a twisted version of a children's story. The man was, hard to come by as it was, even taller than herself. Katya's gaze was immediately drawn to his grey eyes - One doesn't see that very often.
His clothes were rather plain, but then again if she looked at herself she wasn't one to talk right now. Her fur coat was all soaked up with something that reeked absolutely awful! Her boots were absolutely ruined and the less her tattered leggings were noticed the better.
"It would be polite of you to at least introduced yourself before barging in on a business that is not your own." the Russian said with a mild frown. But alas right now she needed questions answered, regardless of whom they came from. "But if you must know... Honestly, I have no idea. Last thing I recall is - ugh!"
She rubbed the side of her head with her hand as a particularly painful stab of pain raged through it. She did recall something more though. "I remember going to explore Shibuya after I arrived. The neighbors mentioned the river in the central area, one said I'd love it, the other that I would hate it, so I went to see for myself. It was a reeking mess really, so I left. I turned a corner, there was a flash of white and then... Then I woke up here, wherever that is." she explained.
Well, at the very least she could now cross out being doped. She supposed she could take whatever comforting thought she could find. "Also, is thee a lost and found around here? I woke up with these on me, but they aren't mine." she asked, holding the weird totem like necklace and the strange phone thing in front of her.

Shi stopped when he was a bit closer to her, far enough away to be out of arms reach though before she started saying something about being polite and introducing himself. "Sorry, I suppose you are right. I'm just far to used to barging in on business that isn't my own, kinda my job." Shi responded since it was partially true.
Shi calmly looked the person over, not in a weird way just noticing the soaked jacket and the leggings she was wearing, looked like she fell into a river, or a shredder. Listening to her story Shi crossed his arms before giving a small nod. "No those are yours, at least now anyway." Shi said before pulling out a similar device from his pocket, it looked similar but distinctly diferent from her own.
"My name is Shi, that's Yasuo, and that's Yuudai." Shi introduced the two behind him. Shi then returned that thing to his pocket. "This might sound a little mad but when you turned that corner you activated some portal that led you to this world. Should of been activated when that thing you're holding now was placed on your person." Shi said simply, though his voice held no tone really one way or the other. He sounded serious enough and calm enough for even something as crazy as that to possibly be taken as fact.
Shi then crossed his arms and waited for the information to either sink in, or for her to deny everything and say this was a dream or something, which surprisingly didn't happen often.

"I'm Katya Fyodorovna Orlova." the Russian said with a low bow of the head, "And I'm not the greatest fan of that kind of 'job'. But since you seem to know what's going on I suppose I can turn a blind eye to it." Katya noted. What did that mean anyway? This Shi guy couldn't be that much older than she was. But he was obviously used to whatever was going on.
She kept the cold in her voice in check as not to alienate her 'native guide'. She listened to what he told her, her gaze ticking between him, the necklace and the phone. What he was saying was bizarre, but it was just crazy enough that would actually explain things. The fact that he had similar device on him, albeit different in shape, did lend some merit to his words.
Taking a few seconds to think this through, they stood in a bit of an awkward silence. "Alright." She finally conceded, "Suppose what you say is true... what do I do? Does this happen regularly or are there just a few of us? And can we get out of here or are we stuck in this place?"
Despite the kind of questions she was asking one might associate with desperation, Katya remained calm. A good judge might even recognize a hint of excitement in her voice as she looked around, taking in her surroundings a bit more. Even if this is a lucid dream, that doesn't mean I can't have fun with it, now does it?
Looking at the device once again, she gave it a shake. Still dead. "And... Since you seem to be familiar with it, what's this for? The battery appears to be out."

Shi gave a small shrug at this turning a blind eye thing, not like he was here for her opinion nor acceptance of what he does. "Alright then, thanks I suppose." Shi responded in a similar if not more lacking cold tone, he matched hers easily showing no emotion one way or the other in the way he talked.
"Well that's up to you to decide, it happened but there's no point I can lead you, you just do what you want to do. And this happens a lot, there are quite a few people who know about this, not enough so it's a well known fact however so I'd ask for you to keep it to yourself. Also you can easily go back the way you came, or take a train. It leads to the station." Shi said pointing out the fact there were on a train station right now.
"That thing, well in order not to mince words that thing plus that totem will let you turn into, well basically monster in the most basic terms. Also for batteries I don't know, mine just came turned on, hasn't turned off." Shi said deciding to let that sink in also.
Yuudai the one behind the two finally decided to say something. "Yeah a digital monster, like me. Oh wait don't look like one now do I?" Yuudai said looking himself over again forgetting.

"So you say just about everyone can simply lose their way here? It's a miracle this place is still a secret." Katya snickered. "And worry not. I sure won't tell a soul. This is too exciting to share!" she said, a smile finally appearing on her face. "Do what you want to do, huh?" she half whispered with a glint in her eyes. Oh, she shall, most definitely. When else would she get a chance to explore an entire new realm! She's been all over Earth already - Well, most of the interesting places anyway - and she still had decades of life left. As arrogant as it sounded, Earth was boring. Looking to the Trailmon, she was glad she wasn't entirely at the mercy of a whimsical gateway between worlds. "Well at least I can go home and change I guess.""Forget it! You aren't setting a foot on board with that odor you skunk!" The Trailmon rumbled. A vein threatened to pop on Katya's forehead. "Is there anything akin to a police here? Because I have a feeling I am going to get girly and scratch something!" she growled quietly in the Trailmon's direction, making it move over to as far as it could go without passing the signal. Katya could swear she heard it's huge metal teeth clattering. She smirked. Whether it was bribery or scaring the wits out of someone, it was always infinitely preferable to dirtying her own hands. Fighting was far too raw a thing for a refined person like herself. She was intrigued by the last thing that was mentioned. Turning to the other person speaking, Katya blinked and smiled: "I wouldn't know what one is supposed to look like." Fiddling with her own device she tried randomly pressing the buttons to see if one of them turned it on. No luck. Frowning in frustration she tapped the display with the necklace. To her wonder that actually helped. The display lit up and a light that reminded her of a scanner slid over the totem. FRACTAL CODE LOADED
the display spewed out and then the device died again. Well, at least it works. I can find out how later. Turning to face the trio of men she smiled and bowed her head: "Thank you for explaining. I suppose I should get back for now, because this stinks. Literally. I don't suppose there's a cleaner shop around here that takes our money." she frowned. It would be a shame but burning this coat would probably be an easier task than cleaning it up.

Shi shook his head. "Everyone with a device like that, suppose anyone could take a train but the end result might not be as pretty without that item." Shi said recalling some people came here before they had a digivice or even knew what it was, that was weird but hey. It'll happen to them eventually after all. "And I'll trust your word on that." Shi added since he couldn't really do anything to stop her, well he could but would he? Most likely.
With that police thing Shi mearly raised his hand. "That would be me, Shi Nanikazi. Agent of DATS. Its what I meant by my job." Shi said lowering his hand before looking up at the train. "Just let her go home, after all I'm doing my job, you should at least do yours." Shi asked the train, he knew he was far stronger then a trailmon after a old problem from before. Yuudai and Yasuo simply got rid of their Holo suits since they might fight, and maybe they could convince Shi to stay a while longer. They both reverted back to their Agumon forms. "Basically like this, though a lotta different ones." Yuudai said with his normal large smile.
"I suppose so, sadly if there was one it wouldn't accept human money, best get back." Shi said knowing most digimon didn't wear clothes so the closest thing to a cleaner might just be a hose plus body.

Listening and watching, Katya's mood was swinging back and forth and she wasn't quite sure how to feel. The part she felt angry about was the nature of Shi's job, her suspicions raising through the roof. On the other hand now that his two companions had dropped whatever disguise they were wearing, her body made the choice on emotions for her as her jaw hung agape and eyes went wide.
The two seemed alike, but she could spot subtle differences between them. Almost as if one was more rough around the edges while the other was wearing something on it's arms. Of course, the biggest surprise was that they were both giant, walking, talking yellow lizards. She had to fight the urge to crouch down and poke one of them to see how they felt to the touch, but then again they both had rows of pointy teeth. That was enough to hold her leash, even if the human cop wasn't around.
Wait... did he say that phone thing could turn me into one of them? That's... I don't know what it is. I want to think 'Cool', but also a bit scary thought. Katya thought. She wanted to find out, but at the same time didn't want to try just in case something went wrong. Sure, others have apparently done this since the Cop knows about it, but I don't care how crazy others are, I like living thank you.
Snapping her mouth shut Katya shook her head to stop zoning out. "I do wonder if they-" the Russian nodded towards the Digimon, meaning the wqhole lot of them rather than these specific two, "- ever asked you to police them, or if it's just the usual human self appointed savior thing?" she asked with a bitter smile. Honestly she had a feeling the Digimon had no say in the matter, human history was full of people - lately usually the Americans - sticking their heads where they didn't belong and leaving a giant mess in their wake.
Katya was Russian, she knew her country was just about the same - well more twisted really - just before that, but at least she admitted to her county's failures, even if its leadership didn't. And the least she would do is to do the same. When she goes to explore this strange world, she'll play by its rules unless her own impress the people enough to do things her way. She shook her head and sighed. "You know what? I think I'd rather not know."
Straightening back up she looked towards the Trailmon. "Well, If you don't need to see my ID or something, I suppose I'll be on my way. Thank you again for telling me all this. I promise to try and cause the least trouble I can." she giggled with a cheeky smirk.
"What about my paint job?!"
"Well It was a bargain for telling me all he just did, so you have nothing to give me other than a ride home which you refused, sooooooo..." Katya almost sung to annoy the animated locomotive.
"Oh fine! I'll take you to Shibuya but you'll clean the carriages after yourself!"
Rolling her eyes Katya nodded, choosing to go along with it so she could get home and take care of her things. With her money she could always finish school at her leisure by hiring teachers. Better yet she could just study while she traveled the Digital World. she only needed to do a little paperwork at home. But she was certain she wanted to come back here.

Shi had a puzzled look on his face before looking at Yuudai and Yasuo. "I think you have it wrong, my job isn't to take care of this world, it's to take care of the human world." Shi said before scratching the side of his head. "We believe this world should deal with its own problems, as do we believe humans should. Like I said you can do whatever you want with your power. We're just here to make sure our people don't blow shit up in this world, and visa versa."
Shi then frowned. "I wonder why you would just assume I try and force what the orginization thinks on a world that is not my own." Shi added before Yuudai steped up. "Yeah, like Shi said it's a secret to people, he said something about freaking people out and wanting to keep the world's separate minus the people who are chosen to know about it." Yuudai explained.
"Why are you saying stuff like that? Didn't I just say you can do whatever you want?" Shi asked honestly curious, was it the fact that he was making sure Humans don't blow up buildings in the digital world, or the fact he was making sure digimon don't blow stuff up in the human world.

"Can you not hear how you contradict yourself?" Katya stopped walking towards the Trailmon and looked over her shoulder with a curious expression of her own. "You claim your goal is to take care of our world. And then you say the DATS also don't wan anyone blowing things up in here. You tell me to do what I want with my power. What if I, hypothetically, decided to rule this place with an iron fist and actually pulled it off? Would you just stand by and watch me crush everyone underfoot?" She tilted her head, "You don't seem like that kind of guy, even if your organization would, judging by you 'butting in' as soon as I as much as touched Trailmon over here, you would do something about it." she theorized. Her tone might have sound a little admiring and she didn't have a problem with anyone doing what they felt was right, although that was as much praise as she was willing to give a government 'agent'.
Giggling, she waved her hand in a dismissing gesture. "You may want to think about that. I'm not saying it's wrong - not completely anyway - but you could be a bit more honest about it!" she grinned before reaching into her pocket and pulling out a bit of paper and a pen, scribbling her phone number on it. She folded a paper plane out of it and tossed it over to the Cop. "But if somebody does go blowing stuff up, do give me a call and I'll see whether I can help, I'm not too fond of vandalism either. No promises though!"
Katya waved her hand: "Until we meet again, Cop." she winked and boarded the train, immediately locked herself in the bathroom to get rid of the stinky coat and somewhat clean up before she added more work for herself treading the sewer-river water everywhere.
