Can a tree be annoying? (Elliot & Isaac)

As Elliot was the one who was actually good at schooling, he cottoned on to Lucero's meaning first. As his eyes lit up with understanding, he smiled. "Thank you!" he chirped, a pleasant smile on his face. "We really do bring out the best in each other, don't we? But hey, that's what having such a great big bro's all about. I would've been toast like five times over if not for him."
"Yeah. And Elliot's gotten me out of a jam a ton in the past, too. Guess we lucked out both being chosen, eh?" He remained in Devidramon form for now in case flight was needed, but his cadence with his brother was still every bit as warm and quick as it was when he was in human form. At the very least, it seemed he was taking to his Digital forms like a hand takes to a glove.
"Was there anyone out here with you?" Isaac asked, curiously. "This is pretty far out from the cities for a human still getting the hang of their Digivice. And there's been a pretty nasty Digimon wandering around here recently . . . " Isaac shuddered, remembering that freaking flower.
"Oh! We could help show you the way, if you want. We're a lot tougher than we look," Elliot added.

She gave it some serious thought. For a short while, she was with another. A kid and her kitsune...
All things considered, those two seemed as knowledgeable about the going ons of the Digital world as these two are, so she wasn't worried.
"I was with someone else for a short time... but I'm a little fuzzy as to how we separated. Kid was a super pro, though, so I'm not too worried. I'm more worried for myself since I'm obviously still very new to this."
Then she gave their offer some serious thought. She would have been haunted house chow if it hadn't been for the help of another. Maybe she should at least consider it.
"At least as far as you're willing to take me," She replied, "I'm sure I can figure out the rest." Being able to somehow survive giant angry red bugs for this long has got to account for something, right?

People did seem to appear and disappear out of nowhere, didn't they? The Digital World could be so chaotic that turning your back on someone often lead up to a separation. Heck, earlier this week the bros lost a friend at the Village of Beginnings! How did that even happen?
"We'd be happy to take you up the whole way, at least to the hills," Elliot said. "The more the merrier, after all! Besides, it'd be really fun trying to get to know you better."
To Isaac, that seemed about as fun as trying to binge Game of Thrones with Kuu. However, just because a stranger in need was kind of aggravating didn't mean it was fine to ignore them. Besides, maybe when she wasn't being so ridiculous they'd get a long a bit better. First impressions could always be the harshest ones. "So, how long have you been down here for? The Digital World, I mean," Isaac said, curious. It seemed like she was still finding her way around, but at the same time she was weirdly comfortable with everything around her. Maybe that was just a part of how she is, but it still surprised Isaac that she wasn't having more trouble with this.

"Oh, awesome! I'd love that very much, actually!" She announced happily. "But be careful what you wish for... you might learn something so non-nonsensical that it will drive you to the brink of frustration and impatience!" If that was a lamp shade about how difficult she was being, it was likely in poor taste.
"How long have I been down here? I've lost all track of time ever since coming here. Lap top doesn't wanna work, and it's kind of my only clock, unless this thingie has a clock to it too. Mr. Digivice, do you have a clock? Still not talking to me? Okay, I get it, sorry! But either way, I wanna say... maybe weeks?"

Isaac rolled his eyes a little, while Elliot giggled. It was clear only one of the brothers was taking this warning seriously. "Ah, no need to worry about it," Elliot said. "I'm pretty used to nonsense. Heck, this whole place is kinda nonsense, when you really think about it. But if you give it time it gets way easier to understand. Maybe." It was a bit of a hasty explanation, but how the heck else did you describe something as unpredictable as the Digital World? If he told Lucero about his first day there, it'd leave her head spinning.
Isaac nodded at Lucero pointing out the time thing. "Yeah, electronics don't like working down here. And time itself is pretty funny around here. There's times I could swear I've been here all day, then when my bro and I get home its still the afternoon. Gets kinda disorienting if you keep popping in and out. Still, at least its only been a f-
Wait, did you just say a few weeks?"
Sheesh, that was some major cause for concern! Hopefully she'd at least eaten and gotten worry in all of that time. Sure, with how wonky Digital World time was it was probably only like a few days, but that didn't make it any less alarming imagining someone wandering around lost for a few weeks. "Okay, yeah, we're getting you home as soon as possible. Your parents are probably gonna be worried sick about you.
All ready to leave? It'd suck if we rushed out, and then you realized you forgot about something."

"Yes, I am so ready to leave!" Lucero expressed, "The sooner the better!"
There is that one girl and her kitsune, but I think if I knew how to exit first I can maybe come back to check on them later... either that or it should be okay and they found their own way out. I can't waste time checking to be sure. First my own family, then this place again...
Still... A few days? Only a few days!? Seriously?! That's... well that's still a lot of time, but for crying out loud I thought they'd put up missing milk cartons of me by now! This place is both weird and dangerous... wait, what about their-
"Wait, what about your pray?" she asked, remembering what they had said earlier, "If you're on the chase for it, won't it get away if you decide to help me out of here?"

Seemed like there was nothing the girl needed. Nevertheless, Isaac had the bad feeling they'd be told to turn back around to pick up something important right when they were about to get on the Trailmon. He gave Lucero a brief look, as if making sure she was serious, before nodding and turning back to Elliot. "Alright," he said, stretching out his wings and taking to the skies Okay, it was more like hovering a few feet off the ground, but it was as close to the skies as you could get in suck thick forestry. "I'll lead the way from above. Make sure everything's good down here, okay bro?"
Elliot nodded, looking up at his brother with a smile on his face. "I'm not gonna let you down," he responded, holding his Digivice close before Digivolving to the tall and powerful Strikedramon. Lucero's next question came as if she was reading his mind, and he nodded as she spoke. "We taught it to stay away from Primary Village, at least. I think that's the most we could do for now, especially because it knows the forest way better than us. We'd have to really plan carefully to try and catch it off guard, because its one heck of an opportunist."
As he walked, he thought about how odd it must seem that he and his brother were so gung-ho about getting into their transformations. "We'd be a lot more relaxed about this kind of trip normally, but we're still keeping a stakeout in case it comes back. Better safe than sorry, after all.
So, what do you think your spirit's gonna look like?"

Well that's a relief. I guess we're the only ones who have to worry about it then. It is getting me curious, though. I wonder if I should hunt this digimon down just to see it?
... nah, I'll look it up on the internet once I get it working.
At least Lucero herself could afford to be more relaxed. These two seem to know what they're doing, so there was at least that. Hopefully it'll be easy to traverse once she gets to her destination.
With that said, the laxed girl could afford to take part in this strange ritual that is called the idle chit chat.
"Just as long as it's not pink, then I'll be content," she stated quickly, "I'm going to assume the transformed state is a lot like a reflection of yourself in a way, soooo maybe something very spiritual? I'm a shrine maiden in training, after all!"

"Ah, not big on pink?" Elliot asked, curious. But why? Why would anyone dislike pink? Pink was the color of Kirby, and nobody could hate Kirby! Although then again, there was a difference between admiring the color from a distance and constantly living the pink life. Besides, he lucked out on getting blue, which was one of his favorite non-black or white colors.
Isaac found the reflection of the true self part pretty interesting. He actually hadn't thought of that angle before. After all, it seemed like they were pretty similar to the totems they found, but maybe the totems were based on the wielders in the first place? Would it mean the spirits of Order and Chaos would have never appeared if they didn't enter the Digital World, or at least not take their current forms?
Did it mean Elliot really wanted to be a buff dragon man? Nope, too disturbing a mental image, Isaac was bailing on that train of thought pronto.
Okay, there were much less disturbing questions to talk about. Like Lucero being a shrine maiden in training. That either raised a ton of further questions, or explained literally everything. Whichever of the two, it was a much more pleasant avenue of conversation to pick. "Really?" he asked. "What's that like?"

"Hard... work!" came the all too quick answer to Isaac's question. Then she realized she was ignoring Elliot.
"Sorry, no, not big on pink," she replied, "I have a stigma against it."
There. Elliot was now officially un-ignored. She went back to ignoring him favor of Isaac's question.
"You have to be ready to accept that all things have spirit in them, that in one way or another they're alive. There's also a lot of work that goes into be respectful of everything. So, that basically means a lot of training is done to discipline my own mind to be ready to be open to all the possibilities, and to respect all things. It's also why I end up doing nearly all the mopping, all the sweeping, keeping the leaves tidy, greeting our guests, answering their questions, leading them to Mom if I can't answer their questions, yes the stereotype of being under a water fall applies to me and my Mom as well, you know you wanted to ask that, no we don't bust ghosts since there have been no ghosts to bust yet, at least not back at home anyway, lots of keeping things organized, lots of having tribute and prayer be ready for our guests who just want to come and go, we have to have a business sense for some of these things because lets face it we need to provide for even the temples needs somehow... now that I think about it, I do most of the hard labor back at home! Did you get all of that or do I need to repeat it? Please pick yes or no."
Did she suddenly adopt a video game decision mind-set? Well, it was far from the most bizarre thing she's ever done.

Elliot frowned slightly. Why did some people hate fun? Elliot didn't even like bright colors that much, and pink was still just way too happy of a color to ignore like that! Nevertheless, he didn't press the issue. People were allowed to have favorites, even if those favorites could be wrong sometimes. Nevertheless, for the time being he hushed up to listen to Isaac's question. It was bound to be way more interesting than being wrong about colors, at least.
And it was! Although Isaac would've challenged that showing everyone respect assertion when Lucero took a nap right on them like they were some kind of mattress. That wasn't very respectful! Nevertheless, it sounded like a really cool line of work, even if it must have been a ton of effort being put onto the shoulders of someone not much older than they were. And with this being a job that seemed passed down through the family, Lucero probably had to start all of these obligations when she was way younger than the bros. Maybe that was why she seemed so spacey sometimes. Anyone's mind would be tuckered out after all of that work!
"I think we understand," Isaac said. "Must be a lot of work. Do you enjoy it?"
Elliot's mind was on a far different track. "Ooh, my bro told me how to bust ghosts! I mean, first he said there aren't any. But after that, he said if there were, the trick is to punch 'em in the face," Elliot said. "It actually worked! But I think that's because it was a Digimon, not a ghost-ghost." The idea of there being a ghost-ghost still sent shivers up Elliot's spine. The undead scared him badly! Although ghosts were way less awful than zombies. Zombies were all fleshy and leaky and disgusting. At least ghosts were clean!
