Name: Son Yamaki
Alias: Detective Yamaki
Age: 51
Gender: Male
Height: 5'9"
Weight: 173 lb
Alignment: Unresolved
Birth Date: November 2nd
Birth Place: Osaka, Japan
Skills/Talents:
-Detective: Obviously, Yamaki is a skilled detective. This involves deductive reasoning, forensics, crime scene replication, and every array of skill in that department.
-Computer Forensics and Research
-Diplomacy: Yeah, this too. He's had to learn to talk to the worst of the country, and that's stuck along with him for quite a while.
Personality:
Son Yamaki, on duty, can come off as a surprisingly straightforward man. Like a fair collections-caller, he's polite-but-direct, a no-nonsense approach taken to get to the bottom of the case in the most dutiful way possible. The tone of his voice can often make him appear as the most 'powerful' man in the room, a talent born of several years of professional experience. And, as it comes with the profession, he has a fairly strong sense of justice, even looking through clues to not see just the 'how', but the 'why', the motive itself. And though he keeps communication forward, Yamaki is often a solitary thinker.
Though, that's as far as the job goes. In his 'natural environment', you'll be hard-pressed to find a more proud family man. As the father of two young adults, a nineteen year old daughter and a twenty-five year old son, he's well-involved in events of Osaka, Tokyo, and Shibuya... whether he wants to be, or not! He can keep a smile on his face, and enjoys friendly company around him. His family is his main motive for his work, to keep Japan as safe as he can under his watch.
Appearance:
Detective Yamaki appears as your typical middle-age Tokyo resident, his consistent professional attire perhaps the only reason he would stand out in a crowd. He sports short, well-cut black hair and dark brown eyes. A respectably thick mustache graces his upper lip. Coupled with glasses with a brown trim along the top, Detective Yamaki manages an almost piercing gaze even in casual conversation. He holds himself in good posture, with quite a commanding stature. Signs of his age clearly show with slightly graying hair and defined wrinkles on his face, but these simply add to his stature.
As for attire, Son settles on the professional look. He sports a white dress shirt with a usual-dark colored tie, and corresponding dark pants. For more formal occasions, he seems to only have one, reddish-brown sports coat which correspond with his ties. Well-polished black dress shoes and an occasional cuff-link rounds out his attire.
Personal History:
Son Yamaki was born in Osaka, Japan, in the era where people still occasionally used the telegraph and commercial computing power was still a good twenty-five years off the market. In this way, he grew up in the economic recovery-and-boom in Japan after World war II. It was in-part due to the cold war that Yamaki developed his candid attitude and found an interest in both police and detective work. This gave him a good hand in learning the more hands-on techniques in forensics, as well as being able to grow up with the increasing technological marvels of the time. At the age of twenty, he had his degree and a starting position as a local detective.
So that would round out to a good thirty years of work experience, and with that long on the force? Well, Yamaki became almost a family name in the business, his surviving and successful business drawing eyes from both peers and ne'er-do-wells alike. Married by 30 and expanding into computer forensics, the detective's eyes took a look to the younger crowd. And it was here, approaching the current year, that Son found a peculiar pattern. Children between 12 and 20, specifically around Shibuya, were missing for months at a time... called and cancelled missing person requests abound. SOMETHING was up.
