Digital World 101 Taken to Spartan Way [Colin]

"Huh, is it really?" Colin asked, raising his eyebrow with disbelief. He took a closer look at the meat, and... huh, it seemed that was so. For something that had been literally pulled off the ground, it looked remarkably unlike the raw meat he was used to.
Apparently Ryu liked to eat it as is. "Hey, I hope ya wash it first, dragon-boy" Bellamy said, chuckling. "Unless you like it garnished with dirt, then I guess that's up to you, heh heh"
Colin did as he was told with the preparing of the mushroom sauce. Already some delicious smells could be wafting from it. "Damn it, gotta have something" Luke muttered, then took one of the leftover mushrooms. It at least satisfied the growling in his stomach, but as long as it left enough room for the meal that was coming, that was fine with him.
Then Ryouta asked how he wanted the fish cooked. "I think grilled fish should be great, thanks" Colin said. Already the steak would be quite filling, he didn't particularly want to have fried fish to go with it, that would be a little too much, he believed.

"There's no need to wash it first, Bellamy," Ryu said, chuckling. "To begin with before it's ripe, it's coated with some membrane that prevent it from being in contact with the earth. Actually, if you pulled it from the earth, it'll be warm,... strange, right? But anyway, that's beside the point."
Grilled fish, eh... Ryouta took out some mirin and sake. "I think I can tell you how to make it."
He added both ingredient to a bowl, then added some soy sauce, grated ginger and garlic paste. He mixed it all and let it marinate for a while. After about fifteen seconds, he wrapped it with aluminium foil and put it above the fire. Once it seem to be cooked, he took it out and cut the foil to reveal a really tasty looking grilled fish.
"Looks like it's done! Dig in!"

"Huh, that's nifty" Bellamy remarked, folding his arms. "The digital world not only makes food appear at random, it makes it in convenient packaging too, huh?"
"Of course. I think it's a sign that whatever god is in control over life in the digital world, they take care of those living on it by making sure they're well fed" Luke said.
"Yep, gotta make sure the angry monsters are well fed when we're all fighting each other" Bellamy muttered. But that was beside the point. The point now was that the food was almost ready!
Luke and Bellamy could barely control themselves as their portions were served to them. Meat, fish and mushrooms. Bellamy had to take off his gloves to eat properly, not wanting that juicy sauce making the cloth all sticky.
"You could, you know, use some cutlery?" Colin suggested, holding up a knife and fork in one hand and chopsticks in the other.
"Colin I have three fingers, you tell me how I'm meant to hold those things" Bellamy said. Colin chuckled and decided to just let them eat how they want. He looked down at his own plate with a hungry expression and began to eat.
"Oh my god this is delicious" he said, overjoyed at the savoury taste in his mouth.

"With all things in Digital World considered, I'm not even surprised if we got something like... Probably something like a lake with fish made out of bread. It doesn't exist here though, but the thought about that happened... well, I'm not going to comment further on that."
Ryouta thinks this is beside the point, but what Luke said did have weight on it. He guess if the Digimon work by consuming each other's data, then probably Digital World would enter some sort of stalemate with only the strong prey on the weak. The Digital World will then destroy itself. It's quite mystifying at how it's designed to be like that.
Ryouta just smiled hearing what the three have to say. It's indeed delicious and Ryouta also loves how it tastes too. It's really juicy and all...
"Welp, with this, first day of your training is concluded. What do you think of it? Did I miss something important?"

"A fish made out of bread" Bellamy repeated. "Yeesh, sounds like the kinda things you see when you accidentally eat a hoopy digishroom!" he joked.
They happily ate their meals, mostly in silence. The food was just too good. Honestly, Luke and Bellamy hadn't had anything this good yet in their current lives, mainly because they now had their stomachs in another part of their bodies other than their heads. And before long, all that was left was bones on their plates, although in typical catlike fashion, Bellamy was picking his teeth with a fishbone afterward.
Then Ryouta said that their first day of training was completed, and asked for an opinion. Colin smiled at him.
"I think this is honestly the best day I've had in ages" he said. The exercise was nice, his partners were happy, and he knew enough about the digital world to feel comfortable in it. "Thanks so much for teaching me all that, Ryouta. I really appreciate it".
"Yeah, we do too" Luke added. "And thanks as well, Ryu. I doubt we'd have been able to evolve to Rookie without your help" he smiled.
Bellamy could say little but accidentally burp. "Excuse me" he said afterward. "Yeah, what he said" he jerked a thumb to Luke.

"I know, right?" Ryouta laughed at that sort of joke.
Looks like the three was really satisfied with his and Colin's cooking, although it's mostly him. Then again, he'll probably give his little disciple a homework. He was tempted to unravel a headband or something then say 'it wasn't much' but that's probably a totally wrong franchise. He smiled when Colin said that this might be the best day he have for quite a long time, which honestly made him flattered.
Ryu blushed when Luke praised him but quickly laughed when Bellamy burped. The young dragon is happy for the praise.
"OK, so... I got homework for you, Col. I got three... First, like I said, as much as possible, walk from your house to the school... if you're commuting then don't, but if you're not, then walk. First no need to force yourself, but later when it gets easier, try to jog. If jogging also becomes easier, add some weight to your backpack or wear some weighing wristband, a small one is fine. If that also becomes easier, wear some on your ankle and adjust as you please. If you got a holiday, spend about two to three hour training in any way you can think of. However, you don't have to really force it if you want to have a break. I know how stressing a school can be. If you want, you can call me and we can workout in a gym I know. I got membership there. Or, to make it easier on the time, come back here because the speed is seven times faster than real world.
The second one is try to help as much as possible in the house when it comes to cooking. Also try to look for simple cooking and camping cooking methods. It'll come handy when you camp out here. Try to practice as much as you can. If you need any material, you can come to me and ask me for that. As long as I got surplus, I don't mind sharing with you.
Third is the hardest. I want you to at least try camping once, no need to camp in the wilderness, but somewhere quite close to Terminus is fine. Try to practice what I taught you at least once. I know that technically it's the hardest but in order to get you used to it, just do."
....He hesitantly raises the fourth digit.
"...This one is not necessary, but try to get a real time battle training from your partner. I admit, when I was in Digital World, I never minded that... but I got two friends that get into trouble quickly the moment they entered into Digital World. They lacked real battle experience, so had no idea what to do... So have your partner attack you mockingly. Get some makeshift armors first just in case, though. HOWEVER. I know it'll be hard for three of you, that's why I said not necessary."
."Why don't you rest a bit in the tent?" Ryu offered. "It's important to let the food settle before you walk afterall!"

Ah so they had homework? Ordinarily Colin would have been reluctant to accept, but homework revolving around digimon, that sounded like something that he would be delighted to do. Especially if it meant getting the best possible outcome for Luke and Bellamy.
The first piece of advice was to jog to school. Ordinarily Colin would have been reluctant to accept that, but... it was only a 20 minute walk to school. It would therefore be half that time if he jogged. However, there was the issue of being all sweaty and tired upon his arrival. However, that wouldn't be so much of a problem if he jogged there in an old T-shirt and shorts and changed into his uniform on arrival. A perfect plan! And if it was a holiday, he should spend two to three hours training. Colin wasn't sure about that, but, if Luke and Bellamy were involved, that could be fun for all of them.
"Okay, I can do that" he said, eagerly. Then the next point. Helping out in the house with cooking. Colin chuckled and scratched the back of his head.
"Heh, well I'll try... but most of my family really enjoys cooking" he explained. "In fact if we didn't have set nights where we had to help out, we'd pretty much cook every night that we can. It's just my brother and sister have their own styles that they like doing too, so we all look forward to our turn when we can flavour the food how we want it". However he'd take note that he should pay attention to different cooking methods, especially when it came to using unknown ingredients. "Alright, we can do that too" he said.
Then the third task would be to set up camp. Colin didn't think there was any way he could do that in Tokyo. However, on the Digital World, that would be no problem. He thought about how he could do this. If he and his partners accepted a job that would result in them camping under the stars on the Network Plains, then that could be something he'd be able to do. "Okay! We can do that too" he said.
Oh? A fourth task? Colin listened. Ryouta suggested that he should personally train with his digimon partners. He looked at Bellamy and Luke, wanting to hear their opinions on this.
"Well... of course if ya wanna do that, we'll be happy to train you how to act in combat around digimon" Bellamy said. "Of course neither of us would ever hurt you intentionally, but... if you want us to, we can spar with you".
"Yeah. I think that's a great idea" Luke added. "We don't want you to get overwhelmed in a battle, Colin, so if you need some assistance from us, we'll happily provide!"
Then Ryu suggested that they settle in the tent. Colin smiled, happy to take up that offer. "I think we will" he said, his stomach quite full. As was Bellamy's and Luke's.
The three of them settled into the tent, resting from their day of training. It had been quite a long day, but on the whole, all of them were feeling very positive about the times ahead of them.

"Well, remember, the best thing is to rest before you get utterly exhausted. Eat when you need it. Basically all in all, do everything in moderation. Don't force yourself to train, although forcing yourself to train at times could probably make you adapt better when you need to do exhausting stuff... but that's not for now. I forgot but... did you mentioned that you have any problem with exhaustive works? Whichever it is, stamina is important, I think if you build more stamina and resistance, your body will naturally follow and make it easier for you in the end," Ryouta said. "Granted, it might be easier said than done, though... Well, if it rains, try to do some squatting, pushupping and situpping. Do it in moderation, hear? Also, if you get sick, rest and I forbid you from any training."
He nodded in understanding about the cooking. He then think about it some more. "...Hmmm, if my stuff with my parents is sorted out somehow... you can come to my dad's cafe. It's pastry cafe, but I'm sure there are stove. I'll probably live there after a while... So come now and then to learn more how to cook I guess!"
Ryouta nodded when Colin said that the third task isn't too bad. However, just to be sure... "...If possible, hire a mercenary. Then can watch your back. However, have them watch from afar. Or..."
He looked at the sky. "...We can do it now... But I think that's a bad idea..." he took out his Digivice and switched the display mode to real world time. He showed it to Colin. "...I think you need to return soon so nobody gonna get worried, right? So after resting, best if we go home... or more like... YOU go home... I still got business around here. Also, best if you copy the time table of each Terminal just in case. Trailmons are unfortunately quite fickle, so they often need to be bribed. In that case, get ready to bribe if you're desperate."
Luckily they doesn't seem to be against sparring, which is great... Now he only hope that Colin won't ended up being a musclehead dork like he does.

"Well, yeah, when I do a lot of exercise, I tend to get sick kind of easily" Colin said, a bit sheepishly. "But yeah, if I am sick, I won't do any exercising"
"That's right, and we'll look after you" Luke promised. He and Bellamy would definitely take care of their partner if he was under the weather. The next idea sounded good, that Colin could do some work at Ryouta's dad's cafe.
"Nice, Luke and I can taste-test what ya cook" Bellamy joked. Then the next option would be to hire a mercenary. Bellamy looked up at Colin. "Can you make sure that you hire a cutie?"
"I think I'd prefer proficiency over cuteness" Luke said, but Bellamy still grinned at him.
"Better still, hire two cuties, so Luke can have some fun too" the Impmon said. Luke blushed a little, although it was invisible through his red fur.
Then Ryouta showed Colin what time it was on Earth. He supposed that it would be best if he returned home soon. If he arrived after five thirty, then there would be trouble. However it was only 2pm there so far. He still had 21 hours to get back, by his estimations.
"Okay. We'll have a quick rest, then take a Trailmon back" Colin said. He had looked at the timetables earlier, the next one would arrive in four hours. Plenty of time for a bit of respite.
With that, Colin and his partners rested.

"I see... well, let's do moderate training just in case. I never trained any before, so I really don't know how to train someone who got easily sick. Just in case, when we train together, make sure that you talk about it to me, kay? I mean, tell me if you're tired or something."
Still, the jabbing between brothers just made Ryouta chuckled. Oh well, good ole banter. Well, with all done, Ryouta prepared a medium sized backpack for them and added some food and seasonings. He also packed some essentials and gave it to Colin and the twins later.
"Hey guys, here's what I packed for you, hope it'll be useful... just in case though I'm not letting you bring any knives and all that utensils, sorry. That's because Japanese law about sharp objects... well, technically wok and such would be fine, but... yeah, too suspicious? Or if you still want to, get to the Trailmon station and store the wok and such there. I think they charge for them, but it's quite a cheap price."
Bidding farewell to his protege, Ryouta continued his journey.
