A Light in the Depths [Hunt] (Alicia/Maia/Mitsuko)

“Thanks for the pick-me-up… I needed that.” Alicia groaned out to the angel Digimon, smirking at him in turn as she pulled herself together. Quite literally at that, the pools of mercury that had been dislodged from her figure flowed back to her and filled the once-gaping hole in her chest. However, while Angemon had expended some of his strength to restore her, it was clear from her grimace and somewhat shaky stance that Alicia wasn’t back to 100% even though she looked like she was back to normal.
”RAAAGH!” The golden dinosaur wasn’t about to let them forget he was here though. Much as he would’ve rushed to interrupt the angel’s efforts, Maia’s card was one well chosen. Kuu’s webbing tethered him down, his metallic outer skin sizzling from the acidic properties of the threads. However, he was no run of the mill Digimon. No matter how flawed he appeared to be, flickering back and forth from gold to blue and back again, he still held the power of a Mega level Digimon, if not the durability thereof. With another howl he tore the web apart effortlessly.
”nnnngh...” Huffing, ZekeGreymon regarded the group again, reassessing the situation. He wasn’t backing down by any means, but the grim reality that this group knew what they were doing set in. ”I suppose I underestimated you all, in more ways then one.” He growled out, giving a slight incline of his head towards Mitsuko. Even in the heat the moment he could admit that was a view he hadn’t considered before. He intended for it to be his only concession in this battle.
”But now, I’ll end this.” The golden dinosaur drew himself up, flames licking at his fangs as he inhaled. It was another wide-range attack, and one that the landscape would offer no respite from this time… or would it? Alicia was already moving, shaping a blade out of her hand and slashing a stalagmite off it’s base before gripping it.
"ZEKE FLA-aagh!?” As he began to breath his flames… Alicia shut him up but rushing the dinosaur and stuffing his maw with her improvised weapon. Jets of flame still leaked out around the stalagmite, and it wouldn’t hold for long, but it was enough. Glancing down at the Mercurialdramon, the dinosaur’s eyes conveyed his shock at how quickly Alicia had cleared the intervening distance.
“I thought I told you… I’m making sure you don’t get past me!” Alicia howled, her voice building into a proud roar of her own. Even as ZekeGreymon backed up to get some space, Alicia was already pressing the attack, rearing up and raising her arms overhead, hands clasped and sprouting spikes like a wicked mace. “SHATTER FIST!”
As a grim judgement, she swung her spiked fists down, hammering their opponent into the ground. ZekeGreymon howled in pain as he reeled from the blow, but the dinosaur was resilient and stubborn to a fault. It didn’t take him long to recover and headbutt Alicia back, though mercifully the Mercurialdramon was able to restrain her voice to just a pained grunt as she slid back.
“I need an opening to cut his chest armor...” Alicia grumbled to herself. “If I can pry the Spirit out of him, this’ll be over in a flash...”

"I don't do calm!" Kuu was quick to quip, though the alarm in his tone immediately dissipated. "It's Alicia! She's gonna be fine," the Champion scoffed. Alicia was way too awesome to ever actually be down for the count! Though, surely, Angemon's healing was a huge help. Kuu just couldn't wrap his head around weird liquidy dragon monsters, though! Did she even really feel pain? Could Alicia die? Or, would it just all come back together eventually? Huh! That was way too much thinking for a certain fox, who was now gaining a headache!
At least Kuu didn't really have to put much effort into keeping the enemy off of his partner, when Maia had picked out the card to do it! Man, wasn't his tamer awesome? She knew how to do everything!
Not that Maia would agree, as she continued to shuffle through cards, biting the tip of her tongue. How many cards made the digivice short, again? Ah, whatever. The teen rolled a terrain card in her hand, before letting out a small huff. Alicia's spirit form was too much of a wildcard to make proper use of the card, it seemed. While Kilobyte Razorhail could potentially boost her moves, what if ZekeGreymon had metal or machine-based attacks? After all, he was kind of a giant robo-dinosaur. And he had one of Alicia's spirits. Yeah, that card was looking worse and worse every second that the blonde stared at it.
Maybe it was just best to let the Digimon do their thing, this time.
Kuu began to dance about again, debating on trying to keep the tamers safe, or charge the enemy, when Alicia made her attacks on the monster. "Yay, Alicia!" Maybe the fox should just have a bunch of attacks that involved cheering on everyone else. He seemed particularly good at it!
Despite the grumbles of the spirit user being directed to herself, the Holy Beast seemed to catch at least some of this statement. Dashing toward the dinosaur, Kuu bounced into a spinning motion. With any luck, a bladed tail to the side would at least catch Mr. Final Boss off-guard! Or, uh, just hurt Kuu a lot. Oh well! One way to find out! "Spinning slash!"

Mitsuko could tell by her partner's body posture that if he had eyes showing, they would have rolled at Kuu's comment. "Yeah, I think everyone knows that by now Kuu. Sheesh." Angemon stated, with a quick nod of his head. The joking tone was still there, even under the dire circumstances. "Hey, anytime. Just pull yourself together, quick, so we can finish this heap of scrap metal." Angemon turned back towards ZekeGreymon.
Mitsuko was in awe of Kuu's attack, "Okay, mental note. Maia, you've gotta teach me that... whatever it was you just did!" The silverette watched the battle arena with wide eyes. A soft sigh of relief escaped her lips as Alicia pulled herself together again. Mitsuko could tell that she wasn't fully healed, but it was just enough to help. At least they were doing something right! "Zeke is right." Mitsuko whispered to Maia (or was it more to herself?) "He was underestimating us all. And I'm willing to bet my violin he isn't going to try and make that same mistake twice. He's going to be giving it all he has." Mitsuko clenched her fist around the digivice. "If we can't over power him..." The musician's eyes flashed with excitement, "Then we'll out smart him!"
"Angemon, you know what to do. Help Alicia and Kuu!" Mitsuko shouted her order from her hiding place. Angemon was already in motion when the orders came to him, his hand touched his staff, and it changed form a glorious staff, to an elegant longbow. "Teamwork once again, right?" Mitsuko grinned at Maia. Though they were both Champions, and had Alicia's back up, they still seemed to make a good team as well!
"Angelic Arrow!" ((Form of Angel Rod ability, just changed the name for RP Purposes.)) Angemon's right hand charged up with a golden light, that spread through the bow. He pulled back the string, and an arrow of pure holy energy hummed between his fingers. "Someone call for a flash?" Angemon quipped as he released the arrow. "Angemon's attack may not do a lot of damage, but it may certainly be bright enough to cause the distraction that Kuu and Alicia need!" Mitsuko said softly. It was strange how much alike the partners thought. Mitsuko's eyes followed the bright golden white light, as it streaked through the cavern, speeding towards ZekeGreymon!

ZekeGreymon howled as he tore through the stalagmite Alicia had used earlier, his eyes darting between all three of the opponents he had to face. With the Reppamon charging in with his Spinning Slash, the cyborg turned to focus on him, growling as he lifted his claw to smash the impudent little Champion into the ground. That move would cost him though, as he didn’t see Angemon prepare to fire a holy arrow at him until it was far too late. The bolt of light struck first, catching the dinosaur on it’s raised arm, and the burst of light caused him to flinch, opening his guard enough for Kuu to slip in and strike a nasty gash in the dinosaur’s chest armor.
Naturally, the larger Digimon recoiled, and while the injury wasn’t quite enough for Alicia to work with, it did give her a perfect opportunity to begin closing in. Unfortunately, as Mitsuko realized, ZekeGreymon wasn’t pulling his punches anymore. In a second, once just enough distance was opened for him to aim, the golden dinosaur leveled his railcannon arm with the Reppamon. Even Alicia wasn’t fast enough to intervene this time, and Angemon was too far away… This was all on Kuu and maybe a quick card from Maia to get him out of this mess…
The Mega’s cannon shot resounded through the cave, and Alicia saw red. The only possible saving grace was that the rapid shot didn’t have time to be charged to the fullest. Best guess was that Zeke only had time to put half of the charge into it, but that was still enough to risk… nothing to be done about it but retaliate now!
Howling, the Mercurialdramon slammed into the larger, sending Zeke toppling, before impossibly thin blades form from her wrists. “MERCURIAL… DIVIDER!” The spirit wielder roared with uncharacteristically hot rage. Or perhaps it was characteristic of her… she had a similar moment of blinding fury when Isaac and Elliot had been put in seemingly mortal danger as she’d mentioned to Mitsuko once. The blades whipped about as she struck, opening the early gash up significantly and pulling a strangled shout from the larger digimon.
“THIS ENDS NOW!” With that final roar, Alicia pounced on the downed dinosaur with savage fury, reshaping her hand into a spike as she jammed it down into the cyborg dinosaur’s chest. Sparks flew from all over the golden digimon’s mechanical form as Zeke howled, trying to pry Alicia off of him, but she wasn’t having any of that until she got what she was looking for.
A couple seconds later, she tore her hand free, and backed away, visible to her friends was a spirit totem depicting what seemed to be a steel-plated western dragon. But she wasn’t concerned about that right now. Seeing their opponent slump over, Alicia immediately turned to where she last saw Kuu, panic written into her expression. “Kuu! Kuu where are you!? Are you alright!?”
She'd never forgive herself if the worst had happened...

Pulling a couple cards to the top of her deck, the tamer nodded to her newest friend. "Sure. It costs a bit to upgrade the digivice, though." And for the cards! Honestly, which cost more in the long run? "But, they're really useful." As proven by Kuu being able to spit webs! Or, uh, whatever that was. Maia didn't really like to think too heavily on what Digimon attacks really consisted of. Listening to what Mitsuko was saying about pulling punches, the blonde hummed in agreement and shifted a different card to the top of her deck. "Losing isn't an option, anyway," she was quick to note, trying not to be a downer to the silverette's excitement.
After all, nobody here was willing to pay the price of losing.
Taking a deep breath, the fox continued it's attack, unable to really stop mid-movement, despite full awareness that the enemy had intent on smashing him into the ground. But, with some much-needed teamwork with Angemon, Kuu found his attack connecting after all! Yay!
Less 'yay' was being far too close-range for anything good to come of this. "Mai." It would seem that the Champion was realizing his poor decision, paws already placing themselves firmly, in some attempt to steady himself for the attack. To say this would hurt was going to be an understatement!
"Digimodify:" Maia blurted, pressing another card into the D-arc, the paper bending between the device and her fingers from the force of the movement. Don't be too late. "Ikakumon, Icicle Coat, activate!"
A shot was fired. Then, a fox's yelp.
The tamer found herself freezing, breath caught in her throat. Amber eyes couldn't bring themselves to lift from the card quite yet. No, she was terrified to find out if she was too slow. After all, the duo's luck had never been particularly great.
Suddenly, a wave of dizziness struck the blonde, causing her to sway slightly while attempting to remain on her feet. Still no breath wanted to reach her lungs. Alicia was fighting still? She could hear that much. It would be terrifying. But, instead, the sounds seemed so distant. Was it actually that scary, when it felt that far away? This was why she hadn't wanted to come to the Digital World, in the first place, wasn't it? Why had Maia ever thought this place was an acceptable idea? Why would she--
"Oh," oddly airy, yet calm, the sound of her partner's voice shattered all of the negative thoughts and questions. The feeling of drowning began to fade, as eyes lifted to stare at the source of the sound.
Several feet back from where he had once stood, the Champion shuffled slightly while lying on the ground, flecks of ice falling off of his fur. It seemed that, for the most part, the card had used it's purpose! "It's been a long time since I've felt like this," the monster hummed, with a tilt of his cracked mask. Body leaned to favor it's right side as he began to wobble to his feet. The beast's left shoulder was mangled, appearing to have taken the majority of the damage. It seemed that a champion-strength shield wasn't necessarily enough to block the blast. But, at least Kuu's limbs seemed to mostly be in-tact, albeit quite battered! And he was still alive! "I think I need t-"
"Kuu!"
Much like his tamer upon hearing his voice, whatever thought was being processed immediately vanished. "I'm great!" The Champion cheered, losing his prior tone, and trying to bounce in place. Oh! Ow! That was a bad idea! Don't try to dance without full use of all participating legs! "Can I have hot cocoa now?" Hey! He was an injured being! He needed some sort of treat for this! "Extra marshmallows!" Okay, now Kuu was pushing it.
But, with regaining his mental bearings, it seemed that physical ones went out the window, and the fox was quick to begin falling over again. In a small burst of data and light, Reppamon reverted to his rookie form, landing on the ground much more lightly than if he were, say, a lion-fox-monster-thing. Pipe foxes were pretty light, after all! At least by this point, Maia was running over to pull the Kudamon into her arms. He wouldn't have to spend much time on the ground at all! Was it still dangerous? Possibly. But, the tamer didn't really care.
Kuu had a super important question right now that needed an answer! The rookie must have lost consciousness for a moment, and had no idea what was going on anymore! Leaning a bit to try to look at the dinosaur that Alicia had thoroughly manhandled, the fox chirped a, "hey, so what happened to Mr. Final-Boss?"

"A bit to upgrade huh?" Mitsuko looked down at her digivice. She had just received it not too long ago, but an upgrade like Maia's was truly a game changer. "I can see your point. Totally worth it." Mitsuko gave Maia a thumbs up. Maia was right, losing wasn't an option. They could do this, as long as they were smart and stuck together.
"Bullseye... Or would you call that Dinosaur Arm?" Angemon joked as he watched Kuu slip in and make his hit. Huzzah! "Nice hit Kuu, now get out of there, quick--" Angemon's words were cut off in horror. Mitsuko herself felt like time had slowed down, a scream rose up in her throat, but quietly died upon her lips. Mitsuko was aware of Maia sliding another card, this was close. Too close. The shot was fired, and a fox yelped.
For a brief moment, silence ensued. Everything was extremely still. It was as if time had chosen that moment to stop. Two heartbeats. Two small thuds is all it took for chaos to break out around Mitsuko. Angemon flew towards Kuu's last known location, as Alicia tore into ZekeGreymon, quite literally. Maia started to sway, looking rather pale. Mitsuko rushed over and put her hands on Maia's arms, trying to steady her. Mitsuko's eyes were filling with tears, she knew how she would feel if it was her partner, no... there was still hope. Maia did swipe a card. Alicia continued her assult on the dinosaurian digimon. Angemon was digging around, looking for Kuu
Then a welcome voice echoed around them. The silverette dropped her arms from Maia, she seemed okay now. "Thank you Mom!" Mitsuko whispered once again, as she wiped the tears from her eyes. "Great work Angemon! I'm proud of you." Mitsuko called towards her partner as she watched Maia and Kuu have their reunion.
Angemon, on the other hand, had other worries. "He's okay Alicia." The angelic digimon said softly, with a wave of his hand, the elegant bow dissipated into nothingness. Angemon gently placed his hand onto Alicia's shoulder, and for a brief moment, it was like an electric current passed between them. He removed his hand, and just nodded at the mercurial dragon. "Kuu and I both knew the risks when we joined this journey. If anything would have happened, it wouldn't have been your fault. It would have been our own. You can't protect everyone all the time." Angemon looked over to watch Mitsuko sitting beside Maia and Kuu. "You just have to protect what is the most dear to you." With his final words of wisdom he just smiled at the mercurial dragon once again.
"Well, Mr. Final Boss is gone." Mitsuko added softly, she turned around, to see her partner staring back at her. A soft blush crept upon her cheeks. "You guys defeated him. Together." Mitsuko said softly, as she reached over and tickled the spot right behind Kuu's ear. "He's totally a cutie." Mitsuko giggled to Maia. Perhaps, since this near death experience was over, things could go back to normal. Maybe Maia and Kuu could come play with Patamon. Who knows. But at least, for now, the fighting seemed to be over.

Alicia huffed hard after ZekeGreymon collapsed, wide eyed as she gathered her thoughts and clutched the totem close to her chest. She flinched a bit as the angel’s hand rested on her shoulder, before processing what he said and relaxing with a big sigh. “Just because it wouldn’t be my fault… doesn’t mean I wouldn’t feel terribly guilty for it.” she muttered off hand, before blinking a bit. A shock of some kind belatedly ran through her at his touch and she appeared dazed slightly at the odd sensation she felt all of a sudden… if she had to equate to something related to her element and power, she would’ve said it felt like some plates of steel were shifting around, leaving an opening she knew instinctively couldn’t be filled on her own… but why?
Whatever, she had other things to consider, finding the fox digimon after the dust fully settled and confirming his condition with her own eyes, before looking down at the totem. Did she really need to use it now? No, but she was eager to see what it looked like while active. Taking a step away from the angel, she smiled. “Let me see what this new form’s going to be like, then we can get the heck out of here.”
Taking a breath, she loaded the spirit into her D-Scanner and closed her eyes, ‘hammering’ the metaphorical new steel into its proper place. “… Radiance of the sun, embodied in the queen of the skies. Now embrace the brilliant Steel and take flight! Slide Evolution!” With that, the mercurial dragon was encased in a rainbow hued sphere as she changed to her newest form for the sake of stretching her metaphorical legs with it, smirking. With a pair of rotations, the sphere then suddenly ceased all motion as four metallic wings burst from the upper hemisphere. With a single beat, it broke like so much stained glass and left in its wake a hovering, heavily armor dragon with a similar rainbow colored gem set into its helm. Other gems of various hues adorned the armor on her legs as she landed, towering over the others at an even ten feet and roaring proudly. “Metalumindramon!”
It was frankly a brilliant and powerful form from the looks of it, and Alicia could sense that it felt more ‘whole’ then Mercurialdramon did. This was the difference between a fraction spirit and the full thing, indeed, and the difference was staggering to her senses. “Ooh… I like this a lot...” she mused as she craned her neck around to look herself over. “What do you guys think?”
It wasn’t something that could last though. They had disregarded the threat of ZekeGreymon too easily, as this was a family of Digimon that rarely gave up even when pummeled upon heavily. He was crippled, yes, but he did still have enough strength for a final attack. Behind Alicia he rose once more, his golden and metallic body breaking apart and fully reverting to his old form of a simple Champion level Greymon…
Except for the clawed arm. That still remained golden and gleaming for a little while longer. He roared as he made his final attack, and Alicia’s eyes went wide, turning to face the suicidally vengeful dinosaur. There was no time to react, consumed by rage as he was he moved too quickly for any of the digimon to respond to the returned threat.
Like the reaper’s scythe those golden claws came down, cracking mid swing as they steadily bled power, but it was enough. No sound could be made as, despite being weakened as they were, the claws piered the new armor on Alicia’s back like wet paper and continued on until they tore through her chest. The metal dragon was silent, her eyes filled with shock and pain as the golden claw finally faded, leaving a gaping hole in her body. A much more serious wound in this case, as she was in a solid form. The Greymon collapsed again, eyes going dark as he passed out, blue skin going pale as the cold immediately began to eat away at him. He was already doomed upon losing the spirit after all.
“Ah...” Her stance quaked heavily as she hacked, and frankly with such a grievous wound it was a miracle she was still conscious, let alone standing. Someone had to think of something quick though...

'Worth it' was an understatement, at this point, regarding the D-Arc. If not for it, what would have happened to Kuu? It was weird to think that Maia often 'joked' about trying to pawn her Digimon off on other people. Given, it often was only a half-joke and Maia really needed a night where she didn't have to convince Kuu that garbages still were not acceptable places to play.
Ears twitching, the fox shuffled in his tamer's arms, trying to get as much attention from Mitsuko as possible. Behind-the-ear pets were the best! But, he still had to reassure Alicia! "I'm fine! Digimon come back anyway! You guys can't get rid of me that easy!" Yes, because death was easy! "And, I'm always gonna come back for Maia!" While endearing, it was also a little alarming. How long did Kuu intend on stalking his tamer, anyway?
Maia, at least, appreciated that her friend wouldn't disregard her pet's life so easily. Now, though, it was time to see what Alicia had earned! "Pretty," Kuu chirped, before his tamer could even open her mouth. In particular, it seemed that one piece off of the new 'outfit' had caught his eye. "I want to lick the rainbow." But, despite squirming, Maia had the digimon trapped in her arms too well for him to get anywhere near Alicia's new helmet.
"It's very nice," the tamer nodded, looking up to watch the dragon. And it was so tall! One had to wonder how such a tall creature saw the world! Then again, Maia enjoyed being close to the ground, so she certainly didn't have any interest in the height of even ten feet up!
Though, there wasn't much time to actually admire such a form, when ZekeGreymon had decided it didn't want to be done yet. Not having been paying any attention to the dinosaur, it was far too late to provide any warning before a final attack was made. What a way to end a celebration! "A-Alicia?"
Thrashing in his tamer's hands, the fox tried to lean toward her Digivice. Nope, no power! Kuu's usefulness was entirely limited to Rookie, after taking such an injury in Champion already! "We need a medic!" The fox notified, eyes immediately falling to Angemon. Of course he was just going to assume that Angemon was going to play the healer again! Which, surely, the angel was already aware of. Patatata always seemed to have things handled, one way or another! "Hang in there, Alicia!"

Angemon moved his hand off of Alicia's shoulder, wondering if she felt the power too. Perhaps another time they could talk. Now, he wanted to check on Kuu and both girls. The Angemon approached his partner, and placed a reassuring hand upon Mitsuko's shoulder. Mitsuko scratched behind Kuu's ear, as he seemed to nuzzle into her hand. "Well, we are all glad you are okay. You had us worried." Mitsuko smiled at the Kudamon and his partner. "Hopefully Patamon and I will always be here for you both as well." Angemon nodded in agreement. "Yep. We'll be here for the both of you. Whenever you need us."
Mitsuko turned back around in time to watch Alicia transform once again. If she thought Mercurialdramon was impressive, Metalumindramon was gorgeous! For a moment the silverette's breath hitched in her throat, as many gems glittered beautifully. "Wow." was the only thing Mitsuko could say. It was amazing, seeing Metalumindramon and Angemon in the same area. Their beauty made everything else seem dull in comparison, or was it just Mitsuko?
The musician should have known the peace wouldn't last long. The final boss never goes down after the first time. It's rule 1, in bad guy 101 in every movie and video game! Mitsuko's eyes widened in terror as the Greymon appeared behind the dragon. Then the claw pierced Alicia's chest. For a moment, it felt like Mitsuko's chest had been pierced as well! "NO!" The silverette screamed at the top of her lungs. The girl launched herself off of the ground, attempting to close the distance between the two. "Alicia... ALICIA!"
Mitsuko may have started to move before Angemon, but he was quicker. He could fly. With a hard push of his wings, he was in the air and speeding towards the wounded spirit user. A blur of silver marred Angemon's vision as he passed his own tamer. "No no no." Angemon chanted over and over. Angemon crashed into Alicia's body, wrapping his arms and wings around her, in what seemed to be an embrace. Angemon raised his face towards the heavens and called out with all of his might "Healing Wind!"
"I've got to help Alicia." Angemon prayed "I've got to save my friend. Please. I'll give anything." There was an electrical charge that seemed to pass through Angemon again, as he began to glow, his body was emitting the glow. Before he knew what was happening, it seemed to envelop both Angemon and Alicia in a blinding light. Angemon looked at Alicia, "Like I said, we protect what we care about the most." Angemon felt the warmth of his power spreading through the both of them. "You're important to Suki-chan. She's important to me. If we lost you, it would hurt her." With his final words his form shattered and Patamon fell, unconsciously, to the ground. Angemon had used all the power within him for one final heal. Mitsuko was almost to Alicia when Angemon crashed into her. A few seconds passed, then they were covered in light. Mitsuko's digivice reacted with a series of beeps and glowing, then suddenly stopped. As the light dissipated the musician could see her partner on the ground, back in his rookie form. "Patamon... Alicia!" Mitsuko screamed as she finished closing the distance. Mitsuko scooped up her partner, as she couldn't support a 10 foot dragon, it could land on her, and cause more issues. "Alicia, are you okay? Patamon? Speak to me?!" Mitsuko fell to her knees, tears streaming down her face. A few drops landed upon Patamon's face, he wearily opened one eye, and said "We'll be ok." With that, Patamon passed back out in her arms.

Their voices were only a distant noise ringing in her ears as time seemed to slow down for her. She didn’t even bother with pointless hows and whys, just wrapping her head around what had happened. Intellectually… she had known that any time she assumed one of her spirit forms to do battle with another Digimon she was risking life and limb. How could she not realize that by now, having been put into the hospital once in one of those fights? But her heart apparently had never quite caught up with her brain. The shock had left her practically shutting down mentally, her head and wings drooping down even as those around her clamored and called out to her.
”H-Hey, this isn’t funny Alicia! Hold it together! You’ve got so much more you want to do right!? You’re brilliant when you need to be so think of something!”
”KID! Don’t you dare pass out on us now! I’m not losing another companion like this! Keep your head up! Your stronger then this!”
Two more voices she could scarcely manage the effort to recall, and both seemed openly panic stricken… Funny, she remembered the two of them being practically unshakable in most situations… Unfortunately there was little they or the group around her could do. Maia and Mitsuko personally had nothing that could be of assistance. Kuu was locked to rookie form after the fight… But the one who could do something took wing, a literal guardian angel in this case.
“...” She had nothing she could say, even as she leaned a bit into Angemon’s grasp as his Healing Wind kicked in to metaphorical overdrive. There hadn’t been a single thought in her mind, even as a heavenly warmth bloomed in turn with the magnificent rays of light. Only when the angel affirmed to her how important she was to those around her did he finally get any kind of acknowledgment, and even then if was just a glance at his helmet’d face and a glimmer of life returning to her eyes. And just like that his power ran dry and Angemon reverted to Patamon, the light being snuffed out in turn.
The metallic dragon shifted her foot, firming her stance back up as she huffed. A glance to where her wound was revealed what could only be considered patchwork repair armor coating the wound, a crude protection to the newly restored body underneath. It looked quite out of place on the Beast Spirit’s otherwise pristine armor, but that was hardly an issue considering it was that or one dead spirit user. Everyone could guess which all assembled would say is a more preferable outcome.
… But just as the body bore recovering injury instill, a glance at Alicia’s eyes would reveal to the others that she had been wounded on more then just the physical level. While she wasn’t a screaming mess some how, Alicia’s eyes were wide with horror and throwing half-maddened glances at even the slightest unknown sound, as well as toward the saurian menace that had lashed out at her.
Oh right, everyone was still waiting to hear from her… “I-In t-t-time...” she choked out as an accompanying comment to Patamon’s assurances, frightened beyond a shadow of a doubt. She couldn’t hide the terror in her voice even if she had the mind to try. Perhaps Maia and Kuu would be able to realize why this event of all things had shaken her too the core… She had explained how she’d gotten the scar on her face to them, after all. Of course, that might also fall by the wayside in favor of checking on Alicia herself.

They really shouldn't have let their guard down. Even Kuu had questioned the status of the 'final boss'! This was an incredibly valuable lesson for at least Maia. And, so far, one where she felt the most useless. She really had to improve her game, didn't she? Otherwise, things like this would happen. The sound of Mitsuko's screaming felt faint to the girl, as she began to feel dizzy again. Maia was awfully useless, wasn't she?
Finally finding a weak point in Maia's hold on him, the Kudamon whirled from her hands up to her shoulder, to press his cheek against hers. "Maia-Maia. Patatata's got this. We're good! Everything's good!" Except, even with Patamon's fantastic work, it didn't mean that everything was actually going to be alright! "You gotta be good, too!"
It was true. If Maia failed to properly act, she was just going to make a bad situation worse. Even if the only 'acting' she had to do involved not having a meltdown in front of everyone.
Clinging to the fox's words, the girl began to refocus on the actual situation at hand. Which, had reverted Patamon to it's rookie form, and given Alicia a decent patch up. "T-thank goodness," the teen used her first exhale to announce. Talk about terrifying moments! This day was too full of them! After something like this, the trio would need to go out and just have a day to relax together! Admittedly, Maia had no idea what relaxing would entail, but it was worth suggesting once things were settled down. Today couldn't have been good for anyone's health.
In a better state of mind now, the girl hurried toward Patamon and Alicia. She was sure that Patamon would be fine with a little rest, but would Alicia? "Are you alright, Alicia?"
While Maia was still in a slight haze from stress, Kuu could get an idea of what might be happening in the dragon spirit user's head. Hopping down from his tamer, the fox bounded to Alicia, only pausing once he could reach out a paw to try to set it on her foot. "You're safe now!" The fox reassured, with chipper tone. "Patatata's safe, and you're safe!" Surely, that wasn't going to fix the nightmares that Alicia was probably going to have. "Can I have permission to climb you?"
Of course, Kuu's priorities were fabulous. Climb the tallest point in the room, and everything was good! That's how everything worked!

With Patamon's soft reassurance and Alicia's words, Mitsuko felt her breathing slowly return to normal. She continued to kneel on the ground, stroking the bit of fur between Patamon's eyes. He was always so soft and warm. Mitsuko buried her head into his fur, giving him a small kiss on the forehead. Everyone has done so much. Alicia literally risked her life for all of them. As did Kuu, who sustained a few injuries, and Patamon, who literally gave everything he had to save his friend. Even Maia was able to help, by pulling Mitsuko to safety and even using her Modify Cards. Mitsuko knew the path was dangerous, but she never believed she would be so... helpless!
No. She wasn't helpless. She could feel the tension rolling off of Alicia, as if it were a physical force. Terror filled her eyes and voice. Disbelief seemed to hang around Alicia, like a thick fog. Her voice was soft, almost devoid of all emotion except panic. The Silverette knew these signs. Emotional Shock, perhaps even survivors guilt. This was not something she was trained for, but something she has experience with first hand. Mitsuko had to try something. Anything.
"Please, hold him for me." Mitsuko handed Patamon's unconscious form gently into Maia's arms. "If I can't break through to Alicia, I want you and Kuu to run. Get Patamon to safety. Don't worry about me." The musician's deep blue eyes were full of pain. She didn't want to be apart from her partner, but this was something she needed to do. Hopefully Maia would understand that she didn't need to argue safety at this time.
Mitsuko took a deep breath and slowly let it out as she raised both arms out before her, almost in a form of surrender. "Alicia." Mitsuko's bell-like voice was soft, yet reassuring. "Please look at me." Mitsuko kept her eyes locked onto Alicia's face, hoping to make a connection. "I know the look on your face. It is one I have had many times before." Mitsuko felt her eyes prick as tears started to form.
"You tried to warn me that it was dangerous. Patamon and I didn't listen. That is our fault. Not yours." Mitsuko took a few cautious steps towards Alicia. Her voice still soft, yet full of warm emotion. She looked down to Kuu, so hopeful and happy all the time. Just like Patamon. "We are here because of you. Alive. Because you sacrificed yourself. You protected us all." At this point, Mitsuko put her left hand against the scarred mark against Alicia's armored body. "Just as Patamon sacrificed himself to save you. He knew he could survive. You wouldn't." At this point a single stream of tears escaped from her left eye, as she raised her head to look up at Alicia. "He knew that you are important to me. All of you are."
The musician took another step to Alicia. "I don't know what horrors of your past are haunting you, but we are all in this together. If you want to talk about it, we are here for you. If you want to cry, we won't judge you." At this point Mitsuko's voice became thick with emotion, as she lowered her hand and embraced Alicia, the best she could, her face resting against the Metallic Dragon's body. More tears streamed down the silverette's face "Because, it's okay to cry. We still love you." Mitsuko's voice finally gave out, as her body began to shake with uncontrollable sobs. Not just for Alicia's pain. But for Kuu and Maia. And Patamon. For the horrors they all endured. Sometimes, it just felt good to cry it all out.

Only vaguely registering things still, the steel dragon paid attention as best as she could. She only nodded slightly to Maia’s question, still shaken pretty badly for understandable reasons. “Another day perhaps...” she muttered to the pipe fox when he asked for permission to climb up on her. Too much going on today, besides, she’d still try and give them a ride back to the station. The faster they could put this day behind them, the better. But someone wasn’t quite ready to leave yet, not until she did something for her injured friend.
As Mitsuko spoke up, something clicked and the transformed woman focused on her. Alicia looked the musician in the eye. She was crying…? Was there something she wasn’t aware of or was Mitsuko crying over what had happened to…?
”Of course its because of what happened to you, kid… You’ve made one hell of a bond with her in a very short time, and suddenly having that threatened… I’m impressed she’s holding it together as well as she is.” Sol commented with a sad smile.
”But don’t worry about what we’re saying. Pay attention, Alicia.” Kisara quipped with a grin, trying to lighten the tension. Alicia flicked her attention back to the silverette, shuddering a bit. At least Mitsuko seemed to understand, even if the reasoning was different. With the steps she took, Alicia pushed her body a bit, taking a step in turn towards Mitsuko and leaned her head down, nestling it into the smaller woman’s body.
It wasn’t a perfect thing, but Alicia did feel her hammering heart slow somewhat, letting her take a deeper breath to settle her thoughts more. Her eyes softened and glimmered, a smile hidden in armor. “Thank you… I’ll be alright now...” she noted with a firmer tone. She wasn’t exactly back to one hundred percent, but she was well enough to think clearly and get to somewhere she could fully recover.
And then the tender moment was interrupted by the caverns beginning to shake. “Uh oh…!” Alicia gasped eyes widening as she looked up. It was at this point that Sol and Kisara re-manifested.
”All the fighting must’ve weakened the supports and now they can’t take anymore! This section of the system is going to cave in!” Kisara called with a snarl. A loud crash echoed from where they had originally came from and the ice maiden swore under her breath.
”Not good, we need another path, post-haste!” Sol growled out. Kisara then closed her eyes and focused for a second, grimacing.
”I’ve got a path but… Alicia can’t afford to change back right now until she’s somewhere safe and the path will only fit humans at most!”
“Take them and go then.” Alicia suddenly interjected. The two spirits looked at her in surprise, and the Metalumindramon rose to her full height. “I have something I need to do real quick anyways. I promise I’ll be alright. I have my own way to get out.”
The Spirits still looked concerned, Kisara wincing as a stalactite crashed down nearby. ”Don’t you dare die on us.” the ice maiden shot before grabbing Mitsuko’s hand. Sol scooped Maia and the two Rookies into his own embrace, and the two spirits made a break for it, ignoring any protests and struggles that were brought up.
Alicia sighed to herself, before looking to the fallen dinosaur. “I hope my read on you is right...” she muttered, opening her maw and gripping the saurian by the back of the neck and practically throwing him over her back. Then her forehead gem glimmered, forming a translucent, almost psychedelic horn as she bolted to the caved in sections.
“Rainbow… Burst!” Thus began one of the many, frankly dangerous, explosive blasts that Alicia used to clear her path. Her armor dented in here and there as chunks of ice hit her, but she endured and managed to outpace the overall collapse. The two groups emerged one after the other, with the spirits and tamers coming out a small side alcove and Alicia blasting her way out the original entrance out of view. Sighing and looking over the stirring dinosaur, Alicia slid him off her back and took off to rejoin the others.
Cheers of relief were enjoyed once the group had come back together, and then the Metalumindramon took her friend aboard. With a few beats of her wings, she was off, carrying herself and her friends home.
Today had been far too long for her tastes.
