To those familiar with the area, the Cliffs of Chaos seemed like an odd place to lounge about and watch the Sea of Blood's waves crash by the dead shores of the Dark Area... but unfortunately for Halley, this was all information she did not know of.
Lounging by the edge of one of said cliffs, the girl stared at the dark skies that forever shrouded the Dark Area; taking a deep breathe and sighing. "... This dream is boring." The girl would mutter to herself deadpanly, she gazing off into the horizon where the blood-red sea dominated much of her view. For such a twisted-looking location, she frankly was almost disappointed in the lack of anything here. It felt like it was trying to be a nightmare, but all the frightening elements and atmosphere just left; leaving behind what would otherwise be a terrifying realm.
The girl woke up to find herself here in these twisted lands with only herself and a few precious belongings of hers with her. In truth, Halley believed this was all just part of a very vivid dream; she remembering heading off to bed late last night. This was obviously just some brain farts that her head was cooking up for her as slept, trying to scare her... and failing at it. It was honestly a bit disappointing for her... absolutely nothing worthwhile was happening this dream, it only leaving her a bit annoyed that she had not woke up yet.
Kicking her shoes off, the girl decided to lay on part of the cliff-side; grabbing hold of her guitar case and opening it up. The black electric guitar was still in it, finely-tuned and polished for a clean shine. Taking it out, the girl plucked at the metallic strings; sending out a nice reverb that echoed across the valley. Quietly, the girl began to play the instrument using a pick. It was a good time waster while she waited for perhaps the dream to end, still quite unsure as to how she was not awake yet. It felt so lucid... but she knew fully well knew that it would be over soon.

Why Yuu was on the Dark Area? This place that was supposedly utterly awful and that stuff, and that all tamers should avoid for whatever reason, or at least that's what common knowledge told.
Well, truth was a bit different to it. The Dark Area wasn't as bad a people painted it; the weather wasn't the best, but Kyo considered this place her home, so, as the human partner she was, Yuu came here every now and then.
For a change, it was mostly desert. If the Cliffs of Chaos had any inhabitants, they probably were minding their own business. Or maybe they were plotting a kidnapping.
["Really, Kyo. Why do you like this place? If it were for me, I'd be strolling by Whitewater or something. Beach's way better than this place"]
Well, maybe that was the truth, but it wasn't as if the small puppy cared about that. For her...
"But this place's fun too!" She chirped excitedly, even though she grew silent almost instantly. "Oh, lookie! Somebody is playing a guitar far away. Let's go check!"
Of course, this would begin by the small digimon dragging her partner around, darting around quickly, searching for the source of the strange sound. In the end, she found... a pretty tall mongoloid teenager playing the instrument. She ran towards her... until she stop abruptly, right in front of the redhead.
"Oooh~!" She exclaimed happily. "Those notes are pretty good! How's that song called?"
At least for the time being, Yuu was nowhere to be found. The bad side of her partner being naturally fast; it'd take for her some time to arrive there.

As the girl idled away her time strumming her instrument, she gazed off into the horizon of red water, somewhat unaware that someone was heading her way. It wasn't until the individual in question dashed into her view did the girl pause her work; slightly caught off guard in the fact that she had not thought there was another soul out here beside herself. It was a small black dog with a large golden circelet around its body... though it looked too cartoonish to even remotely qualify as normal. Oh yeah, and it talked too. Talking animals were obviously not normal, but knowing full well this was merely a dream; the girl did not really mind. If anything, she was glad that she finally had someone to talk to; person or dog. Pausing her performance, she smiled lightly at the newcomer; happy to hear that someone appreciated her music. "It's a song called "Sweet Angel I Wish Thee Weel". Actually was one of the first things my dad ever taught me. It's a bit sentimental to me I suppose." She would say, briefly continuing where she had stopped just to show how familiar she was with the melody. Dream dog or not, it was comforting to Halley to at least know that she had someone to talk to at the moment. Even in real life, it was a pain to not have anyone to chat with; so any chance to talk with someone regardless of their fictional status being questionable. "You're a cute talking dog. What's your name? Name's Halley." She would greet the strange canine, introducing herself.

The Black Plotmon looked at her new acquaintance with eager eyes, pretty happy to have found a new, cool person to chat with!
"Oh, that's a pretty name!" She nodded happily, before her expression shifted a bit, curiosity shining in her eyes. "A sentimental song? Why it is sentimental? Is there something special about it?"
Oh, right! She had totally forgotten about the best part about meeting somebody new! That was, of course, introducing themselves.
"Oh, right! Sorry for not doing it earlier. My name's Kyo, and I think you're a cute human too! Not as cute as my partner, but almost there, I gotta say!" For a second, she looked around, sniffing the air around her ever so slightly. "By the way. Where's your partner? Have you gotten it yet? Or, are you carrying an egg around? I'm curious about it!"
Maybe her partner was really near, but it wasn't like she could sense a lot being around given that the salty blood-water nearby was pretty good at blocking any other scent from getting into her nose. Kind of a bummer, but she couldn't really do anything about it.
Speaking about partners... some time after the Plotmon spoke, an apparently tired blonde girl arrived to scene, taking a moment to get her breath back as she regarded the two beings and waved at her fellow human.
["Kyo. Never run away on that way again. Okay?"]

"Not really. Its just was one of the first things my dad taught to me while teaching me the e-guitar, so its the most familiar to me." Halley would respond to the black dog's question, plucking at the string slightly. It wasn't really a well-known tune, but it supposedly was an old one that her father's grandparents used to always play for him. No wonder Mr. Raol decided to take up a hobby of being a guitarist, and if it were not for that; she would not be one either.
Nonetheless, she shook one of the dog's paws hello; smiling brightly. "Nice to meet ya Kyo! Odd name I guess, but then again perhaps Halley Raol is also strange." She would bemuse slightly before shaking it off. The girl seemed a bit confused as to Kyo's words about a partner, though in truth; she was not terribly concerned about it. Just weird dream nonsense she supposed. "Well, nope. Don't have a clue as to what you mean, but I've been alone for the past hour or two. No eggs or talking animals here." The girl would deadpanly note, looking around the area to make sure there was not some egg or other talking animal around that she might have missed.
It was during that time that she saw fast approaching them a girl that was about her age, she having long bright blonde hair and actually somewhat tall. Few inches shorter than her, but then again; she was a giant. Delicately placing her guitar away in it's case, she got up and waved hello to the girl. "Oh! Hey! Are you Kyo's partner whatever?" She would say, greeting the girl... only to realize that she was not talking. Was she shy or something? It was only then though the girl noticed the strange hand signals that she was giving her did she realize that the girl was probably mute. "Oh... Oh crap. Can you not talk? No offense of course, but never have met a mute person."

This human was nice, even going as far as to crouch down and take one of her paws just as humans did with each other. That was nice.
"Weird name? Yuu told me it was a normal name on her country." She replied, a bit confused. "Yours is on the strange side too, though! Never heard something that sounded like that. Oh well..."
It seemed that at least they agreed on that one. On the topic of partners, however... the Plotmon made a befuddled expression as she stared at Halley, almost as if she had grown another. Did she actually...
"Wait, wait... you're telling me that you don't know what's a partner? Is this... your first time in this place? Because you're in for a long one if it is. Better wait for Yuu, I guess..."
Speaking of which, the teenager appeared timely enough, getting her reproach responded by her partner just smiling innocently, like a kid who had just broken a vase.
"Yup, she's my partner!" She was still getting her breath back, so Kyo figured she'd do some introductions. "Her name's Yuu, and she's the most awesome human there is!"
She made a small pause, waving off her last statement. It was mostly a non issue, at least for her.
"Oh, don't worry about it! Neither of us minds that she can't really talk. I can translate for her if needed, so just don't mind it. In fact..." Finally she was signing again. "She's saying that's pleased to meet you and is asking what're you doing in this place. The Dark Area can be kinda dangerous. Well, not really, but Yuu likes to exaggerate, I think it's a pretty good place for your first trip to the Digital World!"
The girl's eyes widened at the mention of that fact.
["Wait, what? She's new? Welp."] That meant that some explanations would probably be underway. So... she began to sign again.
Kyo just smiled excitedly.
"Big sis wants to know what do you know about the Digital World, and if you have gotten one or two strange new devices somewhere in your person. Oh, and if you're going to stomach a pretty long explanation!"

"Oh! Okay cool, cool! As long as it's not a problem Yuu! Truth be told, I'm a Swedish twat who doesn't know sign language. My brain's oatmeal. Halley's my name by the way." She would say casually, chuckling at her own light-hearted self-deprecation; glad to know that her muteness wouldn't be an issue with communication. She could not help but be slightly confused by some of the terms being thrown around at her, mainly the Digital World and the Dark Area; she presuming that the area she was at right now was that place. Honestly, Halley could not tell if she should be scared or amused by such a name. "Dark Area... Who was the genius who named it that? I mean, you would THINK that someone could have came up a more original name. May as well name it "GLOOM DEATH KILL LAND" and you'd get the same point across."
Still, the longer that the conversation continued; the more of a slight feeling of dread built up in Halley's chest. Was it possible that... this wasn't a dream? Super unlikely, especially since the last thing she remembered was going to sleep. "Err... so are you trying to say to me that this ISN'T some kind of screwed up dream and that I am literally somewhere else. Cause... I don't how to feel quite about that possibility just yet." She would deadpanly ask, while not panicking just yet; it was clear that the red-head was somewhat perturbed by such a possibility. At the mention of having possibly obtained some strange new device, the girl tilted her head slightly in confusion. "Device? Err... Hold up I suppose. And since I guess I don't got too much of a choice at the moment, sure I guess."
Opening up her casing with her guitar, the girl double checked to see if there was anything weird-looking or out of place; quickly following it by looking into her laptop case. To her surprise, laying right on top of said computer was a small, almost egg-like device. It was skinned in dark purple plastic and looked to have a black rubber grip, the device having a small LED screen. Honestly, Halley was not quite sure what to expect when she was asked if she had some new device; but this looked to be nothing more than a toy. Holding it out to Kyo and Yuu, she got back up. "Is this it? Kinda just looks like a toy."
As this all happened, Halley could not help but get an almost... off feeling. Almost as if something or someone was watching them off in the distance. Almost as if it was there the whole time, but only now did she notice it.

At least she seemed to be nice enough to make one or two lame jokes; Halley seemed to be a good person, and that was good at the very least. The blonde shrugged at Halley's comment. That was a pretty good point, in all honesty.
"Big sis says she has no idea!" Kyo translated. "But that's commonplace in here, so don't stare with too much deadpan at the names of the areas you're going to visit in the future! Practicality above all, I guess..."
Oh, well, that was a surprise. Apparently, Halley thought this was some kind of dream and that's why she had been so easygoing about it? Well... guess they'd have to pop their balloon right now. But sensibly; it'd be horrible if she became traumatized about this or something.
For this, it would probably be better to write than to trust on Kyo's translations. Mostly because she probably had a hard time reading the mood. So... taking her notepad and a pencil, she began writing.
Don't panic, but... this isn't a dream, I can even pinch your or something if you want to. So, let me go from the beginning; you are on what's best described as an alternate world to ours, aptly called "Digital World". The bad news? It's a place that can be really dangerous if you're not careful about where you're going right now. The good news? It's pretty easy to go back to our world if you want to, so staying here or not is something for you to decide, not like those strange novels when the characters are trapped on an alternate dimension or something.
Now. I'm not sure if you care about this or if you want to learn more about this place, but if you do, I can go and give you a lengthy explanation that includes what's that devices meaning and that probably is better said in a more comfortable place. Or, if you just want to return home, I can get you there. Your choice.
She tore out the page out of her notepad and extended it towards the girl, an amicable smile on her face. With any luck, she wouldn't react too crazily and would remain mostly calm over this. Otherwise, it'd be a drag.
Kyo, on her stead, just watched eagerly for the redhead's reaction.

Initially, Halley almost hoped that they did not have to go through with translating Yuu's every single word... but as it turns out; Yuu is prepared for that! Notepads... god, that was a pretty genius idea actually! She could not help but notice how speedily she wrote, watching the words written at a blinding speed. When the silent girl passed to Halley the note, Halley took the time to read over it's sentences multiple times. Her eyes seemed to widen slightly as she read, she then glancing back to Yuu.
"Well... That's kinda fucked up isn't it?" She would say with a deadpan expression.
She honestly wasn't even sure what to say at this point. Was she being duped, or was she the one who was delusional? She could not quite tell at this point. "I mean... not to be rude and all, but if this ISN'T a dream; how the hell I end up here? Cause I don't about you, but unless fucking Norway just happens to have this little portal to hell and back; I don't know HOW I got here." She would say, while not panicking; she was definitely a bit perturbed. "Like seriously. Just look at this place. Nothing but dark clouds and a ocean of red kool-aid. If I don't go seeing Satan and his curly twisted beard soon; I'd want a refund." She would go on for a bit before sighing.
"But uh... in all honesty, holy shit. This is a bit much don't ya think?"

Being surprised wasn't something unexpected for Yuu. In fact, if anything, she expected at least a small quota of suspicion towards her; after all, she was outright telling her that she was in another world and to trust blindly in her words. That was both good and... bad, she guessed? It wasn't like her intentions were bad, but being so gullible could lead to some awkward scenarios.
Anyhow. She began to scribble another note, wearing a patient smile as her hands began to hastily write.
Totally. Not the easiest thing to swallow, but... that's just how things are, I guess. I haven't been in Norway, so I can't really know how you got sucked into this place, but I've heard some pretty wild tales regarding how people got in this place. What about you? You don't remember how you got here? That's strange.
Unless she was unconscious or asleep, but she hadn't mentioned that as of yet.
Well, regarding this place in particular, you had the luck to fall in this world's very own version of the underworld. Probably not the most pleasant place to be, but it's not as if it's hard to get out of here. Well, at least if you know the place, that is. Luckily, you ran into me, so that's a non issue. As unbelievable as this is, you'll eventually get used to it. Or not at all, if you don't wanna return, but again... that's your choice.
Kyo seemed to be a bit lost, but she kinda stood there anyway. This probably would take some time, and Halley probably wouldn't take kindly to be hurried around. Besides, if she had her digivice with her, that meant that an egg or a partner would appear really soon.
Or maybe it was closer than what they thought. Who knew.

Yuu was thankfully a fast writer, so it made it easy them to sort of exchange thoughts. It was still a lot of hard pills to swallow for Halley, but she wasn't panicked. If anything, she was deadly curious. This Digital World was obviously not anywhere on Earth, the blood red seas kinda giving that away... so there was almost a bit off alluring charm to it. "This place isn't like known by most people is it? I mean other humans... cause this is the first time I've ever heard of such a place. Not to sound rude, but this "Digital World" doesn't look very digital. I would have thought there would be more 1s and 0s here... that and or memes knowing what normal hooman beans crap out on a daily basis." She would ramble a bit, slightly confused why a place like this existed. It felt like there was more to all this that Yuu was not done explaining quite yet.
There was however the elephant in the room that was what Kyo was. It was clear that whatever she was, she was not a normal animal. Glancing at the strange device she found and back to Yuu, she asked the mute blonde about Kyo. "That does leave another question... Kyo's not a normal dog right? I can't imagine. She looks almost more like a doll than anything. Also you know, the whole talking thing. Thats also kinda not normal." She would respond, turning her vision back at the blood sea off in the distance.

Apparently, Halley's confusion had given way to... curiosity. To be expected, in all fairness; for some reason, most of the people who ended up being chosen to be on this place had an innate curiosity for it, almost as if the Digital World did choose people that'd be interested in it. Quite smart, now that she thought about it...
Not like she were in a situation to think about this too much. Halley seemed to be eager about this place, and she was more than willing to fuel that interest.
This place originally didn't have any humans. But a good day, they just began to be sucked into it, as funny as that sounds. And, well, most people who knows about it like to keep it as a secret, mostly because they think that the common folk knowing about it would end... rather badly, if you catch my drift. I don't exactly share that sentiment, but I prefer to keep quiet about it because it'd be such a hassle to go through. Regarding why it's called "Digital", you'll discover the reason for that soon enough, just have your eyes open. You'll even find memes if you look closely, but those aren't really good memes, in my opinion.
The question about Kyo's... sentience was a fun one, and one that'd be probably best answered by her. So, Yuu just gestured at her, getting a smile as an answer before the dog began to speak to Halley.
"Of course I'm not a normal dog, I'm a digimon!" She said right away. "Digimons are the native denizens of the Digital World and they can come in a variety of forms, sizes and power levels. We're kinda like that game that's really hot on the human world, what was its name again? Jabmons or something? The difference is that we can talk and that we're definitely more intelligent. Man, repeating your own name endlessly surely's gotta suck."
Yeah, she was probably blabbering at that point, but it wasn't as if she was most precise speaker either. Still, Yuu seemed to be entertained at the comparison between digimons and that game from GameWeirdo.

Yuu's written response to her questions honestly only puzzled the girl more. Secret world only known and kept secret by a select few... Damn. She really could not help but notice the similarities to plotlines in books or movies that pretty much went the same route. However, while she could sort of see how such a thing was possible (after all, guess the folks who ARE involved with this world have done a good job at keeping things secret;) she could not help but just be visibly perplexed by Kyo's explanation as to what she was.
"Digimon... Okay, so am I just supposed to brush off the fact that none of this sounds realistic in the slightest? Or you know, by human standards; which sounds like we aren't dealing with anymore so fuck that I guess." The girl would point out, only mildly weirded out at the concepts being thrown out here. Digimon... again, who comes up with these names? Are they just sentient animals? Were most Digimon just small to normal-sized animals, or were the normal boundaries of regular life not applied here? Hell if she knew, everything still felt like some weird fever dream of a sort; she getting such an uncanny feeling that she almost felt acclimated to the weirdness here. "So where do you kinda fall in those catergories Kyo? Like, till I see another Digimon or something; kinda don't got much to fall on here." She would note to the dog, almost unsure where the cheery canine fell in the possibly vast variety of her kind that she hinted about.
Questions only led to more questions. Digimon living in a Digital World. Sure, fine and dandy... but why were humans getting involved here? She still had no idea as to why she was stranded here in the first place. Would she have been fine if these two never just happened to pop along? A morbid question, but a very necessary one. "Another thing though that I feel is important to ask... so why in the first place are folks just getting thrown here anyway? Like why ME... or Yuu as a matter of fact too?" She would ask the two girls, then turning her vision towards Yuu. Now that she thought about it, how experienced was Yuu here? She did seem to have gone through this process of explaining things to fresh meat like her before, so she wasn't sure. Was it months? Years even? It just sort of boggled the girl's head. "Actually, how long have you even known about this place Yuu? You and Kyo seem to pretty much be in sync here when it comes to this."

Halley's questions were... strange, in all honesty. For one, Neither Yuu or Kyo were sure on what to answer to her first words. Sure, this whole place sounded like an unrealistic dream, but... that was just how it was. Of course, shocks like these were usually too great, but Yuu liked to say that people got used to this place soon enough. Or at least, they were... KINDA forced to.
"Your choice, really! Being in here can scare people off, but getting away from it is really easy too! Just exit and return home." Kyo explained, a bit offhandedly. "Where do I stand, though? I'd say that... on the lower end of the power scale, at least right now, but when I evolve... I can become really, really powerful! It all depends on the mood, I guess. Not to say that showing off feels kinda weird, at least to me."
Was she making sense, probably none, but Kyo wasn't really the best being to explain things around. Still, she seemed to be pretty hyped about it.
"Well, digimons of higher power levels than my current can get really~ scary. Like, they can reduce cities to dust with their attacks or even entire landmasses! And they can also do lots of other amazing stuff, but that depends on the digimon in particular. Like, for example... I'm pretty good at shooting things dead!"
She giggled at her own words, almost as if dismissing them as a joke. Yuu found it slightly disturbing, but... Kyo could be that way every now and then, s better to just leave her be. As soon as the inquiry about the purpose they had here, seemed to be taken by surprise, but immediately shrugged afterwards.
In all honesty? Digimons think that we're here to fulfill a purpose or something, but I don't really believe in that. In fact, I don't think there's a reason at all. If we were thrown in this place, we just had something interesting happening, just like winning to lottery or being the victim of a car crash; but that's simply my way to see it. For me, this world is a land full of opportunities, and I'm willing to seize that. You'll probably form your own opinion with time.
And... I've known about this place for roughly a year. Time passes differently on the Human and the Digital Worlds, so it's not that easy to calculate, but in human time, it'd be roughly a year.
She smiled at the compliment. Truth was that, even if they were really different, Kyo and her were a good team, and that's what mattered at the end. Of course, they had gone through hardships and that stuff, but getting burnt while forging a sword wasn't the rarest of events.

Halley tilted her head slightly in confusion as Kyo explained that she was apparently on the weak side... at least in her current form. Unfortunately, every question that was answered only seemed to bring up more and more questions. Why couldn't things just be simpler? She however at least seemed to understand that Kyo was likely hiding some kind of hidden power... and that this wasn't her final form? "So by evolving... you mean like changing to a stronger form right? Not gonna lie, that's a pretty anime-esque idea, just kinda weird to see it not used as a plot-device." The girl would comment, still somewhat weirded out by such a concept; though she at least understod the basic premise.
Kyo's other comment though was far more worrying than the first, Halley gulping a small bit of saliva when she heard that some Digimon were grossly powerful. The idea of a city or even country just being wiped off the face of a map because of one individual was a rather horrifying thought; especially when you understand that this was a world filled with such creatures. "So if some Digimon make nukes look like firecrackers, how is the Digital World even still standing? I mean... One really wack mon could just go full omnicidal and begin trying that stuff. You could argue that there are Digimon with just as much power to help defend it, but I cannot help but imagine the collateral damage is enormous." She would mention, not very comfortable knowing that Kyo seemed to have no problem with taking someone's life if need be. Coming from such a cute dog, it was a very awkward quip. "I at least hope the things you shoot dead are just bad mons like whom I was talking bout... I am somewhat unsure what to think of an adorable digital puppy apparently having killed others before."
Despite the rather frightening info about this world that was just revealed, the girl was not exactly whether or not she was scared overall of the Digital World. It was an odd debacle, as while it sounded liked things were very dangerous; there was an almost alluring feel to the idea of exploring a world few humans have ever stepped upon. She DID have the option to go home whenever... and since time seemed to be a bit wacky here, it was probably viable to pop into this place every once in a while. She glanced back to Yuu, a somewhat tense look on her face. "Is it weird to kinda almost be just... unsure what to think of this place? Like, I am unsure whether I should be excited or just try to forget any of this ever happened. I guess it's like you said, I may just need to form myself an opinion." She would speak, glancing back to Kyo. It was only then though that she realized an interesting thought... what did Kyo mean earlier when she asked if she had a partner? "Say... Sorry for like bombarding you two with questions, but what did Kyo mean earlier about a partner? Am I supposed to like befriend a Digimon or something?"
